Talks a lot so there isn't much time for discussion, but always stops to answer questions and is very helpful. Gives out very good pretests and study guides. If you make sure to study everything on the study guide for the test, you should do good. Oh,
Talks throughout the whole entire class period. No time for discussion. People that just like lectures....this class is for them!! Gives a review out for each test but does NOT give out answers for the review...Find your own answers.
Gives great lectures. You don't even need to read the book...tests are from lectures. and the test is same as review...very good teacher.
He is very knowledgeable of history. His class has a very laid-back atmosphere.
He was very helpful...tests are multiple choices with two or three identities essay question but you have to write only like two or three lines max for that. Tests are easy if you do his test reviews and read the questions carefully

This guy is a walking time machine.

He is very helpfull
He was pretty enjoyable. Has a good sense of humor. Loved his attitude about teaching. Very approachable.
he knows his history
Had him for both US history classes, he gives you the test as a review but doesn't give you the asnwers to them. thats where you have to learn to listen really good and take good notes. never disregard any info that he has to share, it may show up as a bonus question on his test.
I would have to not recommend taking Hope because the way he lectures, you can not take notes too well from what is said in class. He jumps around too much. You do definetly need a book to do the test reviews and start doing them the day he gives them to you! Believe me! You can get an easy B in his class with the test reviews!
I had Hope for the first part of History, and I really enjoyed his class. He's enthusiastic about his subject, and that positive attitude really helps a lot. The test reviews have everything you might need to know, and as long as you show up for the lectures and take good notes, you should have no problems making an A or a B.
I had Mr. Hope for Hist 1301 and I loved his way of teaching. His lecture is very interesting and you have to take good notes to get the review done. His tests are not hard if you take good notes and do the review. He's a very nice and very approachable person. I'd recommend him to everyone. And Yes, He knows History very well. Good luck!!
He gives you a pre-test and if you do the sheet, you should be able to pass his test. In the Summer Mini's he only does multiple choice, true/false, and matching. However he does talk very fast, so take a tape recorder.
Very Good, Knowledgeable
he is very interesting. his reviews are the same questions on the test. make sure to do the reviews.
HE IS A GREAT TEACHER...HIS REVIEWS ARE THE SAME AS THE TEST AND HE GOES BY THE REVIEW IN HIS LECTURES
REALLY GOOD TEACHER, EASY "A"
I got an A in his class and I didn't even have to study. He gives study guides that tell you exactly what will be on his tests
This guy is awesome. He was my favorite teacher. I love history so maybe thats why I enjoyed his class so much, but his personality cracks me up. Best teacher I've ever taken.
He loves his subject, no doubt about that, but he is not as easy as they say. He does give you study guides and he does lecture by them, however, he finds the tiniest details to pick out for the test and if you are not prepared, you will not do well
Mr. Hope was the worst teacher I ever had. The review was useless, especially the back.
best history teacher ever. Do the review with a group so you can find every possible answer and your ready for the test. Test is identical to the review.
I suck at history, but average an A on the tests. I took him for 1301, too. He makes history more interesting because he tells it like a story. The review is exactly like the test, so study it and you'll do great. Take notes. There's no homework and he's always in a good mood. Take him! Oh, and tell him you're an Aggie fan.
Hope is an okay guy. He will go over everything that is on the test at least once. Only downfall is that he is SOO boring. However I would still suggest him.
He's your standard cheesy teacher. His reviews are very vague. You're writing almost a book of information on the reviews hoping it will be the right answer! I won't be taking 1302 with him and I wouldn't suggest him to anyone.
Awesome teacher!! He's lectures are pretty fun but lets face it, its history, it can be boring. Class isnt hard but dont think you can fly through it. You WILL have to study for the test, but you are given a review and if your smart you'll get a couple of classmates and do it with them. Great teacher, fun to be there!
I took this class based on the reviews. But the class was very difficult. I had a B doing his review by reading the book. Its hard to take notes in his class as he talks very fast. Got a tape recorder.wrote every single word he said n still barely made an A in the next tests.A is possible but realy hard.take him n c for urself.lolz r find sum1 easier
Hope teaches through lectures. He gives a review, but makes you work really hard to find the answers from your notes in class, the pretest or in the book. I went to his office on several occasions to make sure I was studying the right material. I learned to enjoy his teaching methods. Although, not a much liked professor, he does teach well:)
Very good history professor. I actually find his humor funny. He likes joking with his students so roll with it & he'll like you more. He gives a review which is exactly the same as the test so find every possible answer & you'll do fine. Lecture is easy to follow cause he tells it like a story. Much better & easier to understand than Mr. Downs.
1. Don't take him at least you know history very well, have really good skills to take tests and answer questions like: TRUE OR FALSE-THE INCA EMPIRE. Those are the kind of questions he gives you in the review. In my class que started like 30 students and last class there were only 7. If history is not your major don't take him.
horrible profesora
The problem with Mr. Hope is that even he knows a lot, he doesn't know how to teach. He just talks and talks and is really boaring. Some students asked him to change his method of grading but he didn't want it. Instead, he said that we should recommend him to our enemies. He only does 4 tests,& you can replace 1 of them w/ the final.
He is the best professor I had. He never ever go on detail of history Just give us brief history. The materials he covers is basically that we shoud know no details at all. HE IS AWESOME. I hate history, but I am made an A+ in his class. Test are easy comes straight from the review.
Each of Hope's lectures turns into storytime. Lectures consists of Aggie jokes and dry humor. Exams are excatly like the reviews. Be warned: review answers can be very broad. EVERTHING IS OFF HIS LECTURES! It is vital you pay attention and take very detailed notes. This will determine whether you sink or swim.
I dont' know what I did wrong in the class but lots of people got an A in his class. I can get an A in anatomy but barely a B in his class. He's unclear, boring, but all the questions from his test are on the stupid review sheet word for freaking word. He doesnt give you the answers you got to find them yourself or 'listen' to him in class.
I absolutely love him! He is hillarious! I am in his first half of history and plan on taking him for the second. On the flip side he is not an "easy A". Yes you need to come to class and listen to the lectures(that I find interesting). I will probably get a B but for a fun class it is worth it! And yes the reviews are the test! word for word
I absolutely love him! He is hillarious! I am in his first half of history and plan on taking him for the second. On the flip side he is not an "easy A". Yes you need to come to class and listen to the lectures(that I find interesting). I will probably get a B but for a fun class it is worth it!
his lectures are very boring and he will go on saying "did we talk about that didn't we" freaking confusses the crap outta ya and the review questions aren't even on the tests making me study double time and reading the book as well as looking over the review notes he does not make sense
I found Mr. Hope's class to be very interesting. He knows a lot about history and can back it up with all of his knowledge! The key to passing his class is to get a VOICE RECORDER! If you actually listen to it at home and take good notes, I promise that it'll be an easy A.
BORING! IT WAS SO HARD TO STAY AWAKE! WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN! His jokes are LAME and his lectures are way too quick and USELESS!!!
I'm not sure why everyone is saying he is boring and not a good teacher, because I thought he was awesome. Just listen, take notes, and find the answers for the reviews he hands out and study it.
Mr. Hope is a great teacher. I have taken him for history 1301,1302, and have made an a+ in both. His reviews are the test they just don't have the multiple choice questions on them. I think he is a great teacher. I would suggest him to anyone. If you go all the time and take notes you will not have a problem. On the review some questions are very
Great teacher. You have to go to class everyday to pass this class as he does not use powerpoint or teach from the book. He gives all of the information you need in the in-class lecture, you just have to be there to take notes. He gives out reviews that are identical to the tests, answering the questions on the review help stamp it in your memory.
he is a great teacher, just have to find all the answers for the review he gives and you will do great, all the answers are from his lectures
I LOOOOVE history. But this class was SOOOO boring. It didn't help that I took it at 7:00AM. Most of the info. from the test comes from the book. Do the review and you'll pass the class. The reviews are kind of hard, so I suggest doing it in a group.
I had him for summer 1 and He is VERY BORING. Bring a tape recorder because he talks very fast to take notes. Reviews tell you exactly what will be on the test doesnt help much with reviews. His jokes are lame. give only 5-10min break for a 2 hour class. VERY PROMPT/SHARP.
Hope is a good lecturer. He has 4 tests and 1 final. Review is hard to find answers. Really have to study hard and look throughout the textbook. Very BORING!!! Don't have to show up to pass. Would not recommend.
Took Professor Hope's class this past summer semester and I think he is a great teacher. Material is very understandable, and he teaches it with great humor and knowledge. I highly recommend him. Go to class, take notes, get an A.
Veryyyyy boring! Dont take at 7am you will fall asleep. Very nice, he does repeat himself ALOT! He has very cheesey jokes. He lectures the entire class but over all he is a good teacher if you are good at following lectures.
This class was very boring, I had to purchase a tape recorder in order to get the notes because I would fall asleep! Doesn't use powerpoint, he just lectures the entire time. Don't take if you don't want to put the time into studying for this class. His reviews are confusing and he always says there is more than one right answer to each question...
Boring! I had the 7am class I do not recommend taking an earl class.Since day one he lectures from beginning of the class to the end.It is a must to take notes!!!We only will recieve a total of 5 test maybe 2-3 quiz he doesnt like to give work!...but the last test is optional if you are staisfied with your current grade.Very informative though.
takes his own tests and cant pass them. no curves
pretty chilled class and teacher. taking this guy agian next semester. But in a way its hard to get a decent grade, i mean its weird because he gives a test review, that literally is the test, but its still hard in a way
I find him very informative. He knows his history. His mind is sharp. I can listen to him read the phone book. You do have to apply yourself and study. He does reviews and his test are fair. He does go fast because he has a lot of material to cover. I have taken both one and two of History from him. I loved taking the morning class. He is good.
GREAT Professor! He REALLY knows History and does an amazing job not only teaching it, but making it interesting!!
He was a fair teacher. Its best to get a group for the reviews he hands out because there can be multiple answers and you will not know which one he will use for test. No curves on grades so study and you will be fine. He knows his History and he is very nice. Jokes alot but its all good.
Mr. Hope is a good teacher, allows recorders for the class, I recommend getting one he talks fast. He makes history very interesting in the way he presents it. Though I recommend that you have a group to review with. He has multiple answers for various questions. overall good teacher.
If your major is history then he is your professor. If not skip his class. My average was 4.0 till i attend his class and it went down to 3.83
Mr. Hope is a good teacher and keeps the class interesting. He gives you a review with the exact questions that are going to be the on the test, but there may be multiple answers, so compare answers with others in the class. His lectures will answer every question on the review so pay attention. I got an A and didn't have to take the final.
He's a good teacher, definitely knows his history! He gives the review to the test which essentially IS the test so study that and you'll be good. He does talk fast, however, so I recommend using a tape recorder if you want to catch everything that he's saying.
He is a very boring teacher. He gives you the review for test a week before the test but you have to read the book to get most of the answers because he just talks the whole time and uses the projector.
The teacher was alright. I mean for history, I lacked a lot of interest and wa there because I had to be. He talks the entire time and uses the overhead projection.I like how he gave us the outline of chapters and the review at the beginning so you can work on it and get it done ahead of time. I would take his class again. He's super easy.
So boring. His review to the test is identical to the test but his answers can vary. He speaks so fast you can't write down everything and he is monotone. I WON'T take him again.
He lectures the entire time, talks really fast(sometimes). Gives review with the exact questions that will be on the test. So studying and reading the textbook is important.
Here is a hint his test is just like his review, and he gives that out on the first day and after every test, super easy after i got the hang of it, he will give you make up test, and he gives one or two extra credit
Hope is a good teacher but his tests are difficult to study for. I loved his lectures and was so interested that I didn't take notes because it was easy for me to absorb it all. He gives you the questions to the test on the review but not the answers so when the true or false question is "Lincoln said:", I have to learn every thing that man said.
I took him for 1301 and 1302 because i really liked him. He doesn't care about sleeping or cell phones. he doesnt make you write any papers. all you have the whole semester is 4 tests and the final with a couple of extra credit opportunities and the reviews are the exact test. i thought he was really good and definitely recommend him!
Great teacher! Lectures are a bit boring but he knows his history very well. The class is easy if you study the reviews for the test. No book is needed. Overall, really great teacher! Definitely recommend him.
the tests were hard, even if you studied as much as I did. Very monotonous, I regret taking history during summer way too much reading I'm talking 3 to 4 complete chapters in less than a week and if you've got a family and a job it will be hell.
Mr.Hope is a GREAT teacher! Allows recorders in class. Gave 4 tests plus final.Drops lowest score.Test reviews are EXACTLY like the tests. You don't really need the book unless it’s for finding answers to the review sheet.I recommend him to EVERYONE.Go to class everyday, take notes, &study the review sheet I can guarantee you,you will pass!
loved mr.hope. his lectures were a bit much, but you cant expect anyhthing less from a man so passionate about what he does. tests are EXACTLY like reviews..as long as you study and maybe even meet with a study group once in a while you'll be good!
He talks way too fast to take down any notes. His test are super hard. He gives you the exact copy of the test minus all the answers. The tests are multiple choice, T/F, fill in blank and matching. so imagine trying to find the answer to a question that says "Mark D" Thats it. I highy recommend someone else unless you good with a teacher like that
Awesome teacher! Does talk a little fast, I'm getting a recorder for next semester, but it's not neccessary. Reviews are JUST LIKE THE EXAMS...just without the answers. Study and you'll be fine. His lectures are more like stories which makes it more enjoyable. I planned my whole schedule around his so I could take his class. Loves his job too!
He is a super cool teacher! Really funny and interesting to listen to. He doesn't care if you show up to class or not. His reviews are the exact same as the test just without the answers.
Class is easy. I attended his class rarely but when I did I slept. He is a cool and understanding teacher. I studied an hour before each test and made a C. Plus no final if your grade is to your satisfaction.
He is really nice. And his test are the same as the review. However, they are a little difficult. But if you have the grade you want by the end of the semester you do not have to take the final.
Great teacher an easy A!!!!!!!!!!
Professor Hope is AWESOME! You don't need a book for this class. He will tell you everything you need to know about history. I advise you take notes. He hands out a review sheet before each lesson. Test are like the reviews. It is best if you form a study group and share different answers. No written essays for this class.HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CLASS!
Extremely boring teacher. He doesn't have power points or any notes, all he does is sit down and lecture. No homework or class assignments only 5 tests. Tests are like reviews, multiple choice, matching & t/f. But can be hard. I honestly don't recommend him to anyone especially if you don't like history!
His class is easy minus the fact that he doesn't have power points, strays away from the lecture and majority of it doesn't match up to the text book he suggest we get. Reviews are our test but he isn't specific on what he wants us to know exactly, very vague on his expectations.
I regret taking him. Had all A's and B's until his class. Doesn't do powerpoints.. Just sits and talks. You have to listen. He talks fast. His test are tricky. It will start with a sentence that you have to finish off. Ex. "Democrats did.." Find it. He's cool. Doesn't care about phones, sleeping, or tardiness. Avoid if you don't care about history.
His reviews are very tricky. Take notes during his lectures no matter how fast he mumbles. 4 tests, and he drops one. The only reason you would need the book is bc he talks way to fast and no pw pts to use. Book helped me get an A. Use the one @ the library.
I ACTUALLY LIKE HISTORY BUT THIS CLASS IS TOTALLY BORING. THE REVIEWS ARE LIKE THE TEST BUT IT DOESNT ALWAYS GO ALONG WITH THE BOOK AND HE TALKS FAST IN LECTURE WITH NO POWER POINT. AND HE OFTEN RAMBLES ON ABOUT HIS OWN LIFE. I WOULDNT TAKE HIM AGAIN.
I recommend him for 1302. I feel he likes this time period more and it shows in the lectures. If you pay attention, you don't need the book or even to take notes. Just fill out the review as he talks and you are good for the test. Super nice too. He is clearly a big military history guy (like myself) and he even lent me his own DVDs to watch.
The only good thing about this class is you only have 4 tests. 3 tests and a final, and if you do well on the 3 tests, you do not have to take the final. He does not use any visuals like powerpoint, he just sits on the table and talks the entire time, while you are trying to keep up with what he is saying. PAY ATTENTION OR YOU WILL MISS IT
MR. Hope is a nice man, kind of a boring class though. Took him for both parts of US history. You don't really need the book but must take notes because his tests will be comprised of what he lectures on, not necessarily what the book goes by. He is fair and clear about what to expect.
Hope is a really good guy. He gives you a review first day of starting a new chapter. The review is the test. By is the test I mean it's word for word the test. If he gives a quiz it's for extra credit. There is no home work, no group projects and no papers. He just talks there is no power point. You may have to open the book to get some clarity.
Class is extremely boring he just sits their and lectures, no power point just talks. Would not recommend taking him if your not used to take an extreme amount of notes.
Worst experience I've had so far at TCC, none of the material is concrete because the class and tests are based solely on his biased word. There is nothing to look back on at the end of the day except for any notes you took and 90% of his lecture is not even material he puts on the test. Avoid this teacher... i had all A's before him. Just awful.
I hate to say this, because I genuinely do like the guy, but his lectures are just plain awful most of the time. I've tried my best to follow him, but he goes WAY too fast and there's no powerpoint or anything to help us follow. He only has 4-5 tests in his class where half of the answers on the reviews never seem to be on the test! NO HELP HERE!
Great guy and a good professor. All he does is lecture, no ppt. Take good notes and you can do fine. 5 test make up the grade. No hw or projects but 1 pop quiz for extra credit points and thats it. Study hard for the test AND COLLABORATE WITH OTHERS to get the review right. Review is the exact test w parts missing. Dont buy a textbook.
First off don't buy a textbook. Use quizlet because he offers a review which are very similar to his tests. The only grades he has are 4 tests and a final which is optional if you want a higher average. He also drops your lowest test grade! As a person he makes a lot of jokes, and his lectures can get lengthy but his classes are easy and manageable
Amazing, you dont even have to show up and he wont count it against you. There are only four grades in this class and thats the four tests plus Final. The reviews are the test but you(the student) must fill in the answers. Super easy, take it for an easy grade if needed
I thought Hope was a great Professor. Yes he is "old school" but a nice guy. Listen, take good notes and you will do fine in his class
He has a good personality. Classes are mainly lectures, no textbook or other outside information. The only grades given are 4 test grades plus the final. The review sheets are exact copies of the tests, but the tests are more difficult than expected. Attendance isn't mandatory as long as you are good at studying for tests.
If you haven't mastered the art of taking notes (the old school way) without the aide of a power point--or at the very least know how to google questions on the reviews--don't bother taking this class. If this is you, then this class will be one of the easiest As you can get. I just finished a multiple choice/matching/true false test in 15 minutes.
He is a very great professor! The class is easy to pass if you pay attention. One of my favorites, his reviews are the exact same test.
Great professor! His US History class was the first class I took in college. I like his teaching style! No homework, just show up and take good notes and do the reviews. Reviews were very helpful for the tests! One of the easiest classes I taken. Amazing Professor!
