I hate chemistry. I've tried taking it before, but always ended up dropping. Professor Irish made everything so crystal clear. He explains everything and always offer extra help if you need it. He also tells you what to study for on exams. Go to class, study from his notes, and get an A :)

He's a very good teacher. He goes over the test two days before the test. he very understanding. if you turn in a lab late he doesn't mark you down. i pass his class with a B-.

Such a nice man, I don't think he could hurt a fly. He really tries to help his students and even spent a couple lecture days going over questions people had instead of doing the lecture intended. Lab is very easy with him. Lecture is harder, but his final was easy and straight forward.

Mr. Irish is one of the best professors in hfc. I advise everyone to take him for chemistry. He does an incredible job at teaching chemistry. He gives three tests and a final. His tests are straightforward. You need to study the practice problems and I'm sure you will pass it with a good grade!! Love him. Don't wait and take him!!!!!

I barely passed chemistry 111 with a different professor. When i registered for chemistry 131 i felt like i was way over my head. Mr. Irish will teach you the roots of chemistry before testing you. He is very involved with his students. He will make sure that everyone in the class understands the material before moving on to the next thing.

He was a little picky with the lab assignments, his lecture exams were VERY HARD! and he would say he put hard questions on there on purpose. He does have a GREAT WAY of explaining EVERYTHING. I'm retaking the class because of lecture but this time around I know pretty much everything my professor is talking about because of prof. Irish! Awesome

Professor Irish is the best professor I've ever had at HFCC! He is great at explaining his lectures, he will even help you if you have any questions regarding lab material and homework. Whatever it is, he is more than happy to help you, you just have to put effort in his class and do the work! I wish he taught Chem 141!

I took Professor Irish in the Spring and really enjoyed his class. Very, very good at teaching, very patient when it comes to questions, study for exams and learn the material and you'll definitely get an A. I would study from my notes and a bit from the book and I would pass the exams. Wish he taught CHEM132, I would definitely take him again.

Professor Irish was really nice. I took this in a 6-week course and earned an A+. I did have good basic chemistry knowledge prior to taking this class. His exams are similar to his notes and he offers extra credit with homework. Homework is required, but it is easy and relates well to the content. I would definitely recommend him

easy class, good professor, bad grading on exams tho. his exams are much harder than what hell teach, especially the multiple choice. youd think the multiple choice section is easy but its the hardest. would recommend him but i would also advice you to actually understand and not just memorize the material for the exams.

He's very good at explaining things. It helped that he taught concepts that our lecture instructor could not explain thoroughly. He is very anal about homework though. A tough grader for labs and such. He's a chill guy though and is ok with working around your schedule if you might miss a lab.

Great teacher and cares for his students, it was just little bit difficult because I didn't do much chemistry in high school. Just pay attention and take notes, I had a C because I had Bio-234 and 3 other classes and it was hard for me to balance. Very patient, makes sure you understand what is being taught. HW is online, if it closes b4 u get to do it he will reopen it. Don't buy the book, its online. Great teacher for pre chem. If you need chemistry 131 he is the teacher you want. Quizzes are every class period, don't skip class! Final is accumulative. Youtube was very helpful! Good luck!

Best Teacher I Have Ever Had!!!!!

Out of all the classes ive taken and the many professors ive had he is by far the best. Hes goes over anything you dont understand and makes sure you know it before the exam. he makes you feel comfortable in class , anyone who hasnt taken chem since high school should definatly take his class. Great Teaher! Explains everything clearly, goes through the lab procedure step by step during lab and answers further questions during lecture. Very open to questions. Exams are very similar to the practice exams. Lab exams are just like the actual labs. Some homework due every week. No quizzes.

Easy A. C-dawg posts copies of his previous exams, so you know what to expect coming into the exam. Material is identical, just different numbers. He volunteers his time before class to go over the material and answer any questions people may have. It's like Tom Hanks became a chem prof. He's a cool guy. Genuinely cares about how people do.

He's actually a good teacher, he helps the students and makes sure everybody understands before he moves on. Get ready for OWL homework, its a lot but he gives us time. 4 pretty easy exams. He has old exams on moodle which you can use to study. They're almost identical to the exams he gives us. Would def take him again!

I respect Mr. Irish because he's a no-frills type of guy. He gets straight to the point, is clear in his explanations, and doesn't entertain bull. He is knowledgeable and accessible. 10/10 would take again.

don't listen to bad reviews during pandemic he made it optional to join zoom lectures and they were thorough and clear he posts his notes and practice exams which are exactly like his tests he cares about students and will help u just have to ASK cengage hw is alot but it's so helpful and he gives SO much extra credit he gives time for labs and hw

Mr. Irish is an excellent professor. His expectations for you are clear. His lectures teach you exactly what you need to know for the exams and he is always willing to answer any questions. I highly recommend him!

There is a lot of work to do in this class. There are pre-lecture assignments due before every class and OWL and lab assignments due every week. There are also 2 lab concept exams, 3 regular exams, and 1 final (there is a sample exam for each except for lab). His lectures are also always recorded, so you don't need to worry if you miss anything.

He was my lab professor. He posted weekly videos going over the expectation for each week's homework. He also held weekly help sessions and recorded them for students who were unable to attend. I wish that he was also my lecture professor as well! Hands-down one of the best science professors I've had!

This has to be the best Professor Ive taken. He makes sure everyone understands all the topics and is always available if you need help. He usually gives out sample questions before exams. If you take time to review those sample questions youll pass. Take advantage of owl practice.

I took this class during the summer and I do not recommend doing that. Professor Irish is a great guy, and is very knowledgeable in chemistry. This class was just overall very difficult. 25 (minimum) hours per weeks spent on all the HW and assignments. I am sure had this been fall or winter it would have been much better. Best of luck!

I took his class during summer semester and beware there is ALOT of homework that takes about 5-6 days to complete. Hes a good teacher. Personally, I caught on to everything he taughthe is very clear and get straight to the point. He challenges his students hard on the exams though. The Labs are pretty easy! I couldve got an A-if I took in fall.

Professor Irish loves chemistry. When I had a hard time on a specific topic, he made a youtube video within a few hours and posted it for the entire class. He wants you to learn and understand. I took this class over the summer, and if you can, take it in the in fall or winter. It's too much work if you have other classes or a fulltime job.

The absolute best chem professor at HFC. Make sure to review all your notes and assignments before an exam and you should be fine. Make sure to review your OWL homework and look at the explanations I had taken a chem class before this one with Yeakel and failed.

If you need a recent review here ya go. Honestly a great professor, his workload is a little annoying but it is bc you will understand stuff sm better. Teaches well, you can ask questions after class, really nice prof. I would def take a class again with him teaching. Take his class you will acc not mind it and kinda enjoy it.

Chem seems to have a really bad rep here at hfc bcuz of its profs. If you get the chance to, take it with Irish. His lectures are amazing. He does assign a lot of work throughout the week but if you pace yourself, you'll manage. He is not very lenient with late work, but he does drop your lowest grades for labs and quizzes and stuff.

I took him for both Lab and Lecture. The lab was online but the lecture was 100% in person. 3 exams not counting the final. His lectures are clear and easy to understand. Ask questions you will understand stuff so much better. Labs were very easy just do the pre-lab (unlimited attempts) and then turn in your lab report in person. Great teacher!

His lectures werent too long but were very detailed. He had extra zoom meetings for lecture and lab if you needed help. There were quite a few assignments for lecture and lab due every weekend but you get through them quick. The owl assignments and lectures helped the most. Whatever he lectured on was on the exams and online lab was super easy.

Definitely one of the best professors I've had since being at hfc. He is very thorough in explaining assignments, objectives and lectures. His exam reviews are very similar to the actual exams so that was very helpful. He covers everything being asked of each week and has help sessions. Pay attention and study hard and you'll pass.

Professor Irish is so great. He knows how to explain well and provides us with so much in order to succeed in the course. He isnt a strict grader either which is great. Hes exams are exactly what he says will be, which in my opinion is the most important. Definitely take him for chem course!

The best Chem teacher gives an amazing lecture that includes learning and having fun at the same time. I would take him for all chem classes if I can. if you make a mistake he will show you what you did wrong and how to fix it. Will never find a better teacher than him.

The best professor even!!!!!

Professor Irish was a really thorough teacher. The lectures have tons of practice problems, which are really helpful in grasping the concepts. (He also posts videos with practice problems) Overall he was really good at teaching all the concepts, and the amount of work was reasonable for the amount of concepts you need to understand in the course.

Please take this Prof for 141! I had him for 111 and he was amazing. He makes sure we understand the concepts by spending all lecture doing practice problems for us until we're confident that we've mastered the concepts. You're not going to find another Chem Prof at HFC like him. I honestly wish he taught all chemistry courses.

Amazing professor overall, I have taken him for Chem 111 and am currently in his chem 141 class. He does his best to explain things and have everyone pass. He is very patient and kind. Nothing bad to say, helps you a lot. Probably the best professor I've ever gotten. If your thinking of taking him just do it!

If you have 0 chemistry knowledge coming in this professor will make you the next chemist genius. Amazing professor goes over equations/questions multiple times to make sure you understand the material.

Old guy pushing exactly 58.58 years old that could pass as 40 and just tell people he dyed his hair white but he likes to call people folks so I don't think it would work, be sure to get him a birthday present for me in October! You can also tell hes active because he stands tall, has well defined arms, and moves quick and has a full head of hair.

Very smart guy too, you have to be a certain type of gifted to teach chemistry in terms of something most of everyone understands. He makes a lot of typos and mistakes which I think is because his brain forgets what hes doing half the time since the material hes doing is too easy for him at this point. LISTEN TO EVERYTHING HE SAYS

Talk to the guy, don't forget hes your instructor, ask him for instruction. Knows exactly what is needed from the students and tells the students what's needed from them. How he managed to teach that material in a substantially less than 2 hour long lecture while taking his time and allowed for students to do examples in one semester is beyond me

This professor is amazing. I am taking his class and am currently near the end of the semester. I am not very good at chemistry but his lectures are clear and easy to understand. He does give a lot of homework and quizzes. They help to prepare for the exams and he has slides and study guides you can look at to study for them. Would recommend!

This is probably the best chem professor at HFC. for lecture , you don't even need to attend since he uploads videos online which are very helpful and he gives previews and past exams w/answers , so u can practice off those for your tests.( his past exams are basically the same as ur exam) his tests are very simple and only 2 pages front and back.

Best Professor at HFC. Had him for lecture in Chem 111 and just finished his lab for 141. Mr Irish is a good guy and he is able to make chemistry fun and engaging. You could always ask him a question and he would always help you out. If you are going to take chemistry always choose Mr. Irish.

Provides many resources online and his study guides are extremely similar to the test. Where do I begin? I love Pookie Cookie Bear Irish. He's got to be one of the best and most adorable professor at hfc. I literally wish he was my professor for every single one of my classes. He's an adorable patootie cutie who rides his bike every morning, which is adorable. He's an awesome and lenient grader. Can tell he really loves his job.

as a person hes really nice. as a professor hes good. he respects you and will help you if you have questions. i had 2 issues. 1) he grades your work by exactly how he taught you. if you dont do it his way he subtracts points even if you found quicker ways to do the math. 2) the exams r written exams which is just not my preference. he is lenient

Professor Irish is an amazing instructor and I totally recommend taking his class. He always makes sure the points gets across and he always willing to put in more work to make sure everyone gets the material. He provides a lot of resources that I found very helpful specially for exams he have videos and he also provides old exams to study.

Only took this professor during lab but it was my 2nd time taking this professor, and again he didn't disappoint. Probably the best professor at HFC. Teaches in a way that makes it very understandable and helps a lot whenever needed, clear and concise with everything, he tells you what you need to know, I highly, highly recommended this professor.

Professor Irish is the best at HFC. His classes are engaging and he provides tons of helpful study materials. With the help of unstuckstudy alongside his resources, I aced the course with minimal effort.

Honestly as a professor he was amazing, after going over something he'd always ask if it was understood and track back if not, the class overall isn't very hard and even if you think it is theres so much martial provided that you can study with. He posts all lectures, notes and old exams in order for you to use them as a study tool.

Best professor I've had so far! He loves to keep us on edge with his “What if I gave you a quiz right now?” joke. But beyond the humor, he's truly dedicated to his students. I wish he taught Chem-142 next semester so I could take it with him. Also, he's very generous with partial credit—maybe even a little too generous!

Go ahead and sign up for this professor he is very chill and will go over everything if you have questions. I'd say the only downside is that if your not math savvy like me this class is very challenging. Overall I'd say he's one of the best professors I've had in the two years Ive been here so far.

He made chem feel so easy to understand. Answers all questions on the spot. Uploads all the old Exams to help study. 3 lecture exams total and 3 Lab exams. Not too much hw for the week. Very specific when it comes to grading- he looks at every detail.

Chem 141 is not hard but fast paced, which might make it tricky. He does an amazing job with the timeline given. Someone here said "nobody got 15/15" on his quizzes, that's not true. Multiple people I knew got 100's always, but you can't expect to be spoon fed answers, he literally posts review material weekly that take two minutes, easy grader too

Amazing professor, I will say this 100 times take him if you need to take chem 111 take him, the homework is alot but it's very quick to do if you focus on it for 30-45 min the homework is due on sundays, he posts the old exams to help you study and they are very similar to the exams you get in class.
