PERHAPS THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFETIME. HOWEVER, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LEARN ABOUT DINOSAURS OR THE STIMULATION OF VESTICLES THAN DR. LEITH IS THE MAN FOR YOU.
The class is somewhat difficult, but Dr.Leith is pretty excited about the material.
One time he wore two different shoes to class. Other then that, My sister had the class the semester before me, so I just looked at all of her study guides. It was a cake walk for me :)
Very tough, but you'll learn a lot! Don't take this if you want a cakewalk!
I hate his grading, his tests, and his lectures when he isn't off topic. He kicks ass when he talks about anything other than philosophy though.
i didn't like him, he was hard, and boring. i still think that his grading scales are not skewed enough

This guy is pretty cool. The material isn't that hard but you do have to pay attention to the book. Without looking at the book the class is going to be hard. He is very interesting...his stories are awesome.
He is one of the most interesting lecture professors I've had. His tests and grading scale are easy and he knows when to use examples when teaching. The tests are heavily based on the book but fortunately it's easy to read.
the class isn't too hard...read the book though the lab kinda sucks (the material is kinda screwy)he's loud but passionate and seems helpful..good alternative if you don't like science...but you might wanna like math a little
Boring! No need to even attend class. Just go to the study groups and read the book and you'll do just fine in the class. I found his lectures mainly irrelevant to the tests.
Big lecture class, so there is no real one-on-one interaction. Tests are based on a study guide and easy if you ATTEND THE STUDY SESSION! Stories can be entertaining at times, pointless at others.
Go to class 10 minutes before it ends in case of homework quiz, go to all labs, completely fill out the study guide, and you should be able to get a B or better.

Easy class. He does attendance quizzes from time to time, and his exams are fairly easy. Go to the study sessions and memorize everything the night before, and you'll get an easy B.
Dr. Leith is a friendy and overall excellent professor of psychology; he stays on topic, covers the material he tests you on, and can provide many useful insights. His tests are difficult and will require studying, but it is entirely possible to do well.
i never went to class and still got good grades. Most of the stuff you learn is pretty interesting. All he does is lecture, everything else is handeled by the TA. He's a good lecturer.
Leith is hilarious... made lecture fun, but kept to the material. The grading system makes it impossible to fail the class (regardless of attendance). The labs in this class SUCK, but overall I thought it was a good experience (as a freshman)
COol class..i guess..gets kinda boring, but other people i know thought it was interesting? Go to the study sessions and do the study guide, and everything should be all good.

i think he is so cute...just like a koala bear. but he is also so excited about the material he covers. he gets a bit spastic at times, but it makes class all the better.
Don't buy the book. dont go to lectures. just take the sutdy papers before each test and fill in the answers at the study session. then study the paper for a while (15-20 mins max) and take test. its easy.

Extremely easy class and lab. Leith is a very enthusiastic professor with a lot of knowledge. You can get by without going to class and still get an A in the class. I would definitely recommend taking this class.

He was a pretty good professor. I never went to class, and i still passes with an A-, just make sure you go to the study sessions, you get all the questions and answers on the tests, so all you have to do is memorize. I would recommend this class for an easy A.
I really enjoy this class and his teaching style. Very animated. Gives study guides before the tests. Doesnt take regular attendance, but does give occasional pop quizzes. Try to avoid taking the lab section with Dr Suksi, shes a different story.
good class, everyone should take this class b/c you learned alot and things that we leaerned are real life conition. not too hard or too easy--what i called 50/50 good luck

The lecture is so boring to me. He does catch my attention everyonce in a while when he freaks out about something. I notice that he tends to wear the same 3 shirts to class, i pay more attention to that than the classs itself.
Dr. Leith is thoughtful, methodical, knows his material, and grades fairly. Provided that you have some interest in the topic, he will help keep your interest up. Gives out good study guides for tests; pay attention, read the material, use the study guides, and you can get the grade you want. Recommended.
Unlike some, I went to class took detailed notes and studied like an animal and still got a B...so ya i guess it depends on the individiual
this guy goes off of the subject on so many occasions. read the book, get the study guide, no need to go to class at all. half of the class is on aim most of the time anyways.
terrible. if you don't have the time to teach yourself the entire course, don't bother. syllabus was 3/4 of a page, lectures were useless, the study guides came out the day before the test... tests were postponed because he couldn't get his act together enough to make the guide... which sucked. little to no guidance. overall, i'd say avoid.
He lectures everyday, and its the same routine. You get a studying guide right before the tests and the next day is the test. If you just read the book you dont have to go to class. I never went because when I did i didnt pay attention. So if you can teach yourself, then its not that bad of a class. Work hard and you can pass easily.

He gives study guides. I never opened my book it was pointless. I didn't take any notes after the first test Still passed the class with an A. Someone in the class was very helpful in posting an elaborated study guide on web CT before every test. Memorize the study guide you will pass no problem. He drops your lowest test and a 87% is a A not an A-
He is not interesting at all, but it's a pretty easy class. You wouldn't have to go to class if it wasn't for his little pop quizes. Even those count for only a few points. All you need to do to get an A is read the book and do the study guide that he gives out.
Who ever takes this class may God have mercy on your soul. He's off the wall with his teachings and nothing makes sense. good luck with this one!
A typical liberal studies class that's only purpose is to earn revenue for the university. It is a complete waste of time, lectures are even worse than SO 101. If you need a lab class, take the anatomy one instead. You won't regret it.
Didn't learn anything interesting in class, but the book was helpful. It's a very easy A as long as you do some of the reading and the study guides. 47% is still passing, and with lab making up 25% I think it's impossible to fail. P.S. It's hard to concentrate in class with Leith being such a sexy man!
OK,lectures don't really follow book. dry a lot of times, but thats what you expect with history. thats right, you learn history of learning theories. Only 3 exams in the course, they are tough. Highest grade on the first exam was under a C. ave grade was around 30/66 on this exam. pretty helpful if you talk to him, and pretty nice. CURVE GRADEING
His classes are pretty bland with a few jokes thrown in every now and again to draw people out of their laptops. I learned a bit, but that was from what he said in the lectures, not the books. The exams are super hard, but he does drop the lowest test score and warn people (give a good exam review) to be fair.
I hate this man. If you're not sucking up to him, then dont bother asking for help. Hes a PERFECTIONIST and wants everything to be exactly how he explains. No exceptions. His lectures are aweful and painful to listen to. Avoid at all cost!
Lectures can be boring, but a very nice guy. Very approachable and helpful. Tests are very hard, but he gives you a study guide, so USE THEM. If he gets excited during a lecture, you know its important, pay attention
This is actually a really hard class I really had to work hard for my A. Definately do the study guides they really do prepare you for the test! Dr. Leith is a very nice man and I recommend that after you take a few of his tests to ask him if you can see them it will definately help you out! The lab portion was really quite easy.

Not the best lectures, but since Lieth didn't take attendence, I stopped going, and still got a B overall. Fortunatly he follows the textbook very strictly, and his tests are very straight-forward. Overall, a good class, since I could afford to skip the bulk of it. Lab sections (taught by assistants), were easy as hell too.
This class is ludicrously easy. Painfully Easy even. I never (literally, I went twice) attended and skipped every lab, and walked away with a healthy B. He is a compentent enough teacher from what I have seen. His lectures are in the vien of bar fights sometimes though.

You don't really need to attend class but i'd recommend it. His lectures are fun & funny & he's really into what he's teaching which makes time fly for the students. Tests are easy as long as you use the study guides and take the online practice quizzes URL in book =].
This class was one of my favorite classes this semester. In general it is easy to pay attention, although not all classes are amazing. This is not a hard class if you show up to get the study guides and study off them...they are in the exact order of the tests. He's also a great advisor.
You don't even have to go. It took me a test to realize this, but one or two classes before a test he hands out the study guide and if you study of that you'll get at least a b.

You know when the tests are the first day when you get your syllabus. The Thurs. before the test you get the study guide. Do the study guide, read the chapters, and you'll pass no problem. Go to lab, and you'll get an A there as well. The required research participation is lame, but easy.

He is one of my favorite professors at NMU! He's a fascinating person. I enjoy listening to his lectures very much and he goes about it in a humorous manner. The lab for PY211 is ok, but seems to be an excuse to make the class 5 days a week but only give you 4 credits.. but it's an interesting class all the same. Do the study guides and take notes!
Not bad, just not exceptional. Psyc 100 is a trademark class at most universities, but Leith didn't excite me with enthusiasm. However, very easy course. Do study guide and go to the review session and you'll be an A.
Going to the lectures is useless. He just quotes the book in the lectures. He knows his stuff and the lectures are generally interesting. Go to the lab. Do the study guide, and your golden. I like his mustache. hawt.
Though the course work is interesting it's because the text chosen was good and not because Leith was a good professor. Sometimes he was difficult to hear and used his visual aids in a somewhat pointless way. I would suggest taking the class but if you can, take it with a different professor.

He is a great prof, he keeps class interesting and is actually really funny. Good class TA & lab suck. He gives great study guides and there is usually a review session. If you want to get an A you need to read parts of the book to complete the study guide though. He does use overheads and talks softly sometimes so sit near the front if you can.
go to lecture, read the book. study for exams as if you were studying for an essay exam, and you'll be golden. not difficult if you do this.
He's insane. He's impossible to understand and his mustache is far too distracting. But he is entertaining. If you aren't good at science and need to get a lab out of the way, it's a good way to do that.
Everyone says he was hard when they took him, but I found his class really easy. Study guide questions ARE the exam questions. Labs are very easy extra points.
attendance is very helpful very little of test is from lecture only but the lecture really put the conceptual thoughts together that the test require of you. there is a lab that is idiot proof lab attendance is mando 25% of grade. this teacher is fun and interesting and i highly recommend him. study guides are given before every test
crazy man, but liked the class. was in his last class ever, and was honored to be there. gave hilarious lectures. read the book and do review sheet and you'll get an A.listen to his wild stories and you'll remember some of the stuff better. lab was the most boring i had ever been to, but got the grade higher

He was awful, lectured for two hours straight without a PowerPoint, or any other aid. His stories didn't relate to the book at all, he wouldn't give us his office hours and rarely responded to emails. This class was awful, I dreaded going to it. Reading the book didn't really help, overall he was the worst professor I've ever had
Lectures are long, boring and are more about his past experiences than the actual material. If you don't read the text, you probably won't get good grades on the tests. Tests are difficult. He was difficult to understand at times and quite confusing most of the time.

SOOO incredibly boring. Literally puts you to sleep. I skipped almost all classes and got an A; just read the book.
This class was boring and easy. So many students would show up and watch TV, movies, do other homework assignments during the two hour class and still pass! I wish there was more structure and control over his class, even though it was relatively large. Professor Leith did however know the material and was extremely passionate about it!

His lectures are never actually about what he claims they will be on. He spirals into tangents and rants that take up most of the class period. If you read the book and attend the lab you will pass this class; actually attending the lectures never helped me a whole lot. It has the potential to be an awesome class; just don't take it with Leith.
All in all he is pretty terrible despite being funny I guess? He goes on long tangents of trash during the lectures He's terrible with his study guides too as he posts them 2 days before, oh and the final exam if you dont have his study guides the DAY they are posted dont expect to get them he takes them down and you're on your own lol
Terrible experience with this professor. I was really excited to major in psychology, but this professor made me lose all interest in the subject. I hope to get another/different professor that sparks my interest once again.
His lectures were only for a hour and he always ran over, I left early everyday just to make it to my next class. His exams were a little tough, for absolutely never covering nearly enough material in class. So during his lectures READ AND TAKE NOTES. The textbook is key to passing, he is not.
