Really passionate about teaching. I love sociology because of him. The class has changed my life.

This is my fav class of all time. He's a great teacher. Lectures are fantastic! He's one of the funniest people you'll ever meet, and his passianate and ENERGETIC teaching helps you learn. It was a fun, exciting, and eye-opening experience! I reccomend taking his class to everyone!

EVERYONE, if you plan to take any sociology courses take them with this professor. He is very funny!!!He doesn't put you to sleep like other professors.He is not your everyday proffesor,he is VERY ENERGETIC all the time. You will enjoy being in his class and I assure you that you will learn.

Everyone needs to take Sociology

The thing is, he does keep you interested, but sometimes for the wrong reasons. He's very arrogant. Very loud. He gets upset easily and hates it when you don't participate and doesn't listen to you when you do. He thinks he's a lot funnier than he is. The subject is interesting though.

Take the class! He's amazing. He talks alot and is very loud, but you'll learn to love it. He's one of my favorite professors and gets a 9.9 out of 10. That's only because when ever I had a point,he had a better point and a joke. Great professor!

The exams are not hard if you pay attention to the lectures and use the notes posted online as a study guide. Is very available to students with IM and email. Just don't sit in the front of the class, he gets very loud! Pretty easy class if you do what you're supposed to.

truly inspiring, knows the material well, uses resources for his lectures further than just the required text, difficult yet entertaining, i love teachers that teach the socratic method and stirs up emotion in a classroom, only bad thing was that there was never enough time in class. A+ for Chaz.

Professor Levy is a grand teacher if you can hear him over his screaming. He starts off the class with an accurate outline to follow by which makes studying a breeze. Be careful because he will trap you in your morals and play with your idologies. Smart guy. A+

As long as you can read, you can do well in this class...watch out, though. He's not kidding when he says you MUST read Berger! Very interesting subject that Prof. Levy makes even more interesting. He's very sarcastic and funny. He claims he's antisocial, which is ironic considering the subject he's teaching. The class is relatively easy as long as you listen in class and look over his lecture notes online. I didn't really read Berger or the text and got an A.

Awesome teacher! what i wanted to do is, he told us that he's always wanted to see the warth from space, like the curveture of it. If i ever get the chance to go to space within my work that is, i'd take pictures of the earth and send it to him. It sux that certain technicalities can keep someone from reaching their most inner goals.

good teacher..very clear...but sometimes he gets a little too loud..and when u try to argue with him..he shoots u down and sort of forces u to believe what he is saying...but i think its only cuz he teaching OTHER peoples views...other than that...good teacher..make sure u take notes and u'll pass the class easily.

This guy is loud. He is arrogant, opinionated, and often politically incorrect. This is for a reason. He uses these postures to emphasize the topic of the lecture. It made the class interesting. Now if only his voice volume could be lowered about 30 dB ---- <grin>

Great class if you haven't relized that society has a tremendous bearing on who you are and how you think. Unfortunattly Levy argues like a morron when you disagree with him. Also, If your really sensative to people attacking your beliefs you may become extremly agro in his class. Levy has absolutly no tact what so ever, be forewarned.

This is a great class if you haven't realized the impact society has on how you think and who you are. Levy will argue straight up and challenge your ideas. Also, He will cause you to question your beliefs in a somewhat blunt manner, so if your sensative you may become a bit agro, but its worth it. :-)

Yes, he tries to intimidate, but not personally and with no evil intention, but rather to make us think.Excellent.

Mr. Levy will scare you by shouting like a maniac the first day of class, but dont drop the class thinking this man is insane, he is a very good teacher. To this day I do not know why I got a B in this class but it is a very easy class that will be teach a lot about our society and how we can make changes to better it.

Incredibly proficient and passionate about the subject. Makes you think and question your stance on practically everything. Never a dull class. But read the assignments and review the notes and you will do well. Great teacher. The best one I have ever had.

Amazing class. you've got to take it. you don't feel like having a teacher, he is so chill. However, this is not the easiest class because there is lots of work u have to do. But still , it's defenitly the best class I ever took; makes u a different person. I recomend it to everyone. Just go to his first lecture and u will add him.

he's pretty cool if you dont have to deal with him personally. if you speak to him one-on-one he tends to piss you off. other than that, he's a pretty funny guy and its a very interesting class.

Professor Levy challenges you on every aspect. He always gives you a different avenue to consider. I would love to be on jury duty with him to see if he can follow the directions given by the judge. How about a break on the hard ass reading and writing. If you are late, you are just assed out. that's a hard row to hoe.

I believe I made the right decision to take Prof. Levy's intro to sociology class. Levy is a passionate teacher. Levy's teaching skill makes the course easy and interesting. I would definitely take another class taught by Levy. Wish there were more teachers like him.

Interesting and funny but very knowledgeable. He may forget that he is dealing with some student who have never written a research paper before. We may not do well and he may feel it's a reflection on his teaching skills. That is so far from the truth, Dr. C is great.

Levy is absolutely fantastic! While most professors are either sticks in the mud or pretentious ass-hats, this guy gives every lecture his all. It's like listening to Dane Cook with a sociology degree. I wish he could teach every class I'll ever need to take!

Professor Levy is a smart man who believes in the power of teaching. I certainly was not expecting his behavior and at times I found it quite disturbing but their is a meaning for everything he does. The class itself is interesting. Mills is a baller but most of his ideas may be found in Nietzsche and Marx's work.

Yup. I'm a repeat offender. Day one and he's already as self-abasing and entertaining as ever. Levy's a damn good professor. You'll learn a lot in his class. Just know that he's not out to crucify you...it just seems like it sometimes. You newbies will understand what I'm talking about soon enough. Don't drop!

He's high on caffeine and coffee. He shouts at the class. It's so loud, you can't even think, which can be a good thing. But when you ask questions, he gets even louder and uses that to drown you out. He justified marriage as a sociological thing with a fictional story of a man who divorces after he loses his job. I dare you to question him.

Seemed like a lot of tests, reading & papers at first, but he taught me how to write a good paper. Levy will answer whatever questions you have, & teach you how to evaluate & discuss crime & law. He made me laugh, he's VERY passionate, and pretty sexy, too.

True definition of a sociology teacher. His class isn't easy unless you attend class, listen to his lectures, and read the book. His class was the last course I took before transferring. If I knew how great he was I would've taken more. He offers eye-opener opinion and makes you think about things you normally wouldn't. Ask about his date stories.

I take his class this Summer B semester 10:35a-1pm and all i could say he is awesome best teacher out there even though I get F on my exams it is because of me, because of my study habits. Prof. Levy is clear and concise in his lectures. He is very intelligent, and I really appreciate his statements, opinions and outlook. Attendance AND Punctuation are a must! Do your assignments, and you will pass his class. In the twenty classes I attended this summer, there was never a boring class. And for you girls, he is nice on the eyes!

I went in as a music major needing to fulfill a final requirement for transfer and took his class out of convenience. I left his class changed my major immediately after the final and now double major in Sociology and Philosophy at UCB. Pay close attention,read everything he recommends, and be prepared to grow in ways you never thought possible!

I took his online class and at the orientation he was kinda rude and **** which is not cool. Probably why he's still single...? The class was easy though. Just read the book, do the study guides prior to the test and do the assignments as best as you can. Don't sweat it and you'll be done in no time.

OMG! This man is incredible! He is the best Professor at Pierce! He has taught literally "everywhere!" NO JOKE! Even University of California, Riverside! WOW!!! Although he can be RUDE at times, this professor knows his stuff. He's passionate about this subject and it shows in his lecturing. You definitely learn a lot in this class. Lots of reading required. Lots of short writing assignments. Tests are MC, straight from the book. Easy Peasy.

Honestly, this guy has been one of my favorite professors. His lectures are great; love the energy. Tests are pretty simple although Soc. 4 is a lot of concepts to memorize. By far one of the best professors in this school, not only is he charming and not to mention a doll to look at but he explains everything so clearly that a child could understand. Granted he is a tad bit sarcastic but it's amusing and he gets so excited over the material. I am amazed he is still single if I wasn't his student I would be on that ;)

Mr. Levy is very energetic, funny, loud. Which is good for student in a morning class. Keeps students awake. Overall, great sociology professor. Take his class!

I took professor Levy last semester. It's the beginning of the spring semester and I already miss everything about his class. He has control of his class- unlike a professor I'm taking this semester. He actually teaches, amazing lectures. I literally fell in love with him and the course. Amazing teacher I want =)

He yells really loud and he sounds like a creep. Gross, I don't know why people say he's hot! He's kind of a jerk to Q's. He gives you notes so use that with the study guide and the test are mult choice. He makes you turn in a paper every week and then a final paper. It's a lot of work to get an A but very possible!

The teacher makes class pretty interesting. Hes pretty honest about stuff so if you get offended easily well this class aint for U. His lectures are very entertaining and funny. i really found this class to be helpful and it opened my eyes to any things. the professor is very explicit on things and down to earth. Overall his class was awesomeee!!!!

He's a really great teacher that's passionate about what he teaches and loves to give lots of interesting real world examples. Easy to ace as long as you read the chapters

I took his class in summer and we had 3 papers, and a final paper. Read the book because he will call you out on it, he likes everybody to participate in class and starts debates a lot. The papers were all pretty easy his tests weren't so easy for me. I did bad on all my tests but made up for it w/ participation and the papers. I got a B overall

If you read the book and go to his lectures, it's not all that hard to get an A. Pretty generous on grading. Tests were easy. Such an interesting class. One of the best professors I've had. Take it!!

I received an A in this class. Prof. Levy is very passionate about what he teaches. Though he may be too intense for some students, Prof. Levy is a great professor. Go into his lesson knowing not take his responses personally as he is, after all, playing the role of the professor.

After the first class, I almost dropped. I'm VERY glad I didn't! Dr. Levy can be difficult to handle at first, but once you understand his style, he will change the way you look at the world. I had no interest in sociology before (and a lot of misunderstandings about the subject)but when I left, I saw the whole world in a new light. Take his class.

He is not for everyone. If you're sensitive, don't bother taking from him. He is smart and cares about this subject matter a lot. Uses an online textbook which was great in theory, however slow and glitchy most of the time. This is not an easy A, but it is doable if you put in the work. Show up and participate in discussions!

Take this class! He is so incredibly passionate about sociology and it is reflected in his lectures. He LOVES class discussions, so participate. He pushes his class to think outside of the box. Be ready for a rollercoaster ride because you never know what you are going to get with this guy. If you put in the work, it is not hard to get an A.

Very funny and sarcastic. He is really intelligent and knows what he is talking about. I really liked his class. It is not an easy A, but it is very possible. I hated the online book though, because it is very slow.

Professor Levy is such a great professor and made my time taking this class enjoyable. If you can't handle someone who is sarcastic then don't take this class duh. He is very funny and a somewhat easy grader. Just show up to class, do the homework, study the textbook, and you'll get a good grade! Simple as that!

I took his Sociology: Intro to American Problems class for a summer course and boy, it sure was challenging since everything was compressed into five weeks. There was homework almost everyday doing six paragraph essays analyzing a recent article from the web relating to the chapter you are on. There were three tests which are VERY easy. Very fun.

He lectures very well, he is clear on what will be on the test and what is expected in the papers. He tends to speak loudly, but we had almost 100 people in the class. Enjoyed his classes very much. I would take him again.

Took Sociology 1 over the summer in 2007 because someone told me it would be interesting. I took his class. He is honestly the reason why I decided to major in Sociology and I now have a B.A. in Sociology. Truly inspirational!

Great teacher, made you work for it but his lectures were probably the highlight of it all. There were 4 essays and a research paper but he guides you through them and makes it easy. Great teacher, very fun class

Has full control of his classroom which was my favorite part. He comes off as brash most of the time, but he knows his subject well. Very passionate during his lectures and always gives you the opportunity to comment or ask questions. If you didn't pay attention or didn't follow his guidelines on his assignment he will straight up fail you.

I took this Sociology 2 class after not learning anything in my Sociology 101. Needless to say this professor is a sure pleasure. I learned more things in this class then i ever did in other classes. Don't be insulted by his comments, he's a real spark in creating class conversations. One could say all you do is have class talks about life. Serious

Professor Levy is awesome, he has a great sense of humor. Not an easy A but definitely possible if you do all the work. Assignment instructions can be somewhat unclear on paper but he is always willing to give more direction if you go to office hours or ask questions. Levy makes you think a lot which is refreshing in comparison with other classes.

Took this class during winter session, & he actually made me look forward to it. Hilarious, knowledgeable, but somewhat biased. Tests aren't bad, however he does assign four projects, 2 of which include a ppt posted online, and one group social experiment project(fun experience). Not a tough grader.

Don't get me wrong, he's funny and entertaining but he kept saying that the other profs. hate him and by the end of the summer, I could kind of tell why. He claimed that he was open for office hours daily but I could never find him and he never really seemed happy, especially about helping. The stuff was interesting though! Hope this helps! :)

Professor Levy is a highly skilled speaker and instructor. He implores you to research info discussed and to not take his word for it. He doesn't spend time being an apologetic American, nor does he push a mindless liberal agenda as so many Professors, Teachers and Instructors have been doing for years. As a career military man, I know quality!

He's a great teacher. His arguments may sound one sided and he may sound a little harsh sometimes, but he really makes you question what you're learning, and that's the most important thing I look for in a teacher. You will need a book and you can not half-ass the papers because he will take points off. This class was truly enjoyable.

Professor Levy is very passionate about sociology. He taught in a manner that kept everyone interested, bringing facts as well as examples from his personal life. To me, he was a bit pessimistic as a person, but his humor seemed to balance it out. Your grade is determined by tests, papers and the final. He offers plenty of extra credit if needed.

I took him over the summer and he changed my life. He's extremely intelligent and knows what he's talking about. He's really funny too. He was able to take a normal boring class and turn it into something that I wanted to go to every day. You'll love him.

I took Prof Levy's Intro to Soc 8 years ago at LBCC. As a former student, who eventually transferred to UCLA, he remains my favorite professor. Passion and engagement with the material is his hallmark. The rep of Sociology may have taken a hit with it's heavy lefty bias over the years, but Prof Levy gives students a fresh perspective of the field

One of the few teachers that i've taken who actually enjoys what he's doing, You'll get a laugh in class everyday. His lectures are always clear and as long as you pay attention and read, this class will be easy. If you ask questions He will spend all the time necessary until you understand the topic. His assignments are fun as well. Great teacher!

This class may be difficult if you don't try. There are study guides posted online for the exams and there are 3 exams plus a final. There are a total of 4 papers which may make the class seem overwhelming but it's not if you study and write the papers ahead of time. His lectures consist of many examples of the topics that he makes very relatable.

took sociology during summer. he has GREAT !! explanations during the lecture And he's very Hilarious and he's very confident on things he says are true. There are 4 essay and 4 exams tbh they are pretty essays but the study guide are not much related during the exams so I recommended to read thru the slides but overall take him !! WOULDN'T REGRET!

I love this guy. Yeah we go off track some times, but I learned a lot. he really cares for the subject and is really funny. The class was laughing half the time. Lectures are interesting and he uses good examples. If you take a sociology class, take him!

Really unique professor. He LOVES to talk and hear everyone's feedback or comments on anything. The course load was at times difficult but doable. For a 5 week class we had weekly assignments all of which helped us write our 10 page research paper due at the end of the session. We only had a final because we often fell behind. Solid guy though

Professor Levy isn't your regular professor. He talks about himself all the time but in reality, he's showing you everyday comparisons for you to understand the material. He is very vocal and wants you to be vocal about your views as well. He challenges your point of view to make you think. If you're too sensitive - don't take this class.
