he has too high of expectations from his students and yet he doesn't keep up with his end of his bargain. Enjoys giving you quizes and yet does nothing to help you with the confusion you with the subject.
really passionate about the subject, really high expectations, Do not miss one class or else!! Be prepared to work really hard to only get a B! Good luck.
take him if u want a B. His class is extremly hard and yes he has a lot of high expectations for his students
He makes very good study guides and lets you know were to find info. He is a little creepy though.
do not take this guy if you can help it. he is nervous in front of the class, he thinks making **** comments & jokes is ok and his lectures are unhelpful. his grading system changes with every assignment & test. the other comment posted is right...he's creepy and makes you feel uneasy.
this teacher is creepy. he emphasizes far too much on sexual things and his idea of a 2-3 page report on motivation theories has to be based on masturbation and/or sexual orientation. NOT FOR GEN PSCYH!!! He is a perv!!
Good teacher, I liked him.
I thought he was very helpful and wanted to make sure everyone was learning something
I thought his class was easy, if you did the reading or even just looked over the study guide he gives you for every test than you will do well. I hardly ever went to class and I got a high B. I did not find him creepy at all. He is a bit of a dork but is very nice and helpful. Assignments and short quizzes were easy points.
He is very organized and focused. I don't know where these people finding him creepy because he is not at all. He is an easy grader that is if you participate, and do all your assignments.
Chuck is awesome
Chuck was a fun teacher who put a lot of effort into his classes. His notes and slides were extremely helpful, and his grading policy was very lenient. Easy to get an A or B in this class. NOT creepy in the least; I found him to be a lovable nerd who has come to terms with his nerdiness. My favorite kind of person.
Best professor I've ever had!
He is a great teacher, he wants you to learn, his grading is fair, he teaches everything in class, and its all their in the textbook so the quizes and tests are easy. he expects a lot out of you, maybe a little to much. but he will stay after class and help you. I highly recommend him. Yes he is dorky, but he's a psych teacher, what do you expect!!
Great teacher! Lecture is pretty straight forward and on power point. Test and quizzes aren't too bad. Go to lecture and you'll do fine.
I have had him for both General Psychology and Psych of Adjustment. Chuck is a great teacher! He wants you to learn & actually cares about his students' overall grade in the class, you dont find to many teachers like that these days
Funny as hell!
He is definately a nerd, but in a good way. He's funny and overall a pretty nice guy. I would recommend him. Just remember to do the learning objectives and your class experience should be great.
Chuck is awsome! If you read the book, study the objectives which basicly tells you what's on the quiz you'll do fine you can print the slides which is EXTREAMLY HELPFUL! Also he is always there to help you understand something if you don't get it. It's true he's a nerd but really funny. I wish I could take more of his classes.
Interesting class. Teacher is very helpful with understanding the material. Fun class activities.
If i had to use one word to describe him as a teacher and as a person I would use GREAT. He really wants his students to learn. He is always willing to help. Psychology can be tough, but with Chuck it is much better.
Chuck is a great instructor. He is very interesting and his classes provoke thought. I would definitely take him again.
Chuck's great! He's funny, he's a dork, and he's fair. He knows the material and he knows how to teach it. If you read the chapter and do the objectives, you'll get an easy A. I even skipped out on a few chapters, and didn't finish the objectives, but took good lecture notes and passed the quizzes. Plus, he gives lots of Extra Credit. A+ teacher!!
Chuck does a lot to make a lecture class interesting and fun. He is very well organized and is crystal clear about what the exams are on. Great teacher, would take another class in a second.
Chuck is one of the best Prof's at NCC. He is very passionate about Psychology and it shows. His lectures tend to go long so bring food and caffeine. He is very organized and uses technology to your advantage. Great professor, I highly recommend him.
His lectures are mostly boring. The test are actually very hard and the online slides only help a little bit. He does give extra credit points, but for sure you have to work for them. He is a great guy, but lets the students control the lecture.
he is a kool ass teacher. so clear and helpful and if you study his objectives online you are garanteed an A. He is super sweet and loves his students. Totally recommed him.
Very caring and clear Prof. Tests can be a bit tricky but if you pay attention to lecture and read the book, no problem. Plan on attending class for decent grade. He makes the subject clear and easy to understand. He's very approachable. He likes to hear students ideas... sometimes too laid back if anything. Highly recommend for psych.
I highly recommend taking a class with Chuck. The material is interesting, and the tests are easy. His lectures are basically a review of the text, so I could have done without a lot of it. However, there are "participation" points you have to be in class to earn. Overall: Easy Class, Cool Guy!
This guy rocks my face off!!! He has a cute sense of humor, is very organized, and gives you objectives for each test so you know what to study. Can't wait to take more classes from Chuck :)
Chuck is a great teacher! So far I have only been to 3 of his classes, but I would recommend him to everyone! He is very knowledgable, funny, and nice. He has lots of thoroghly thought out material, like power points and thought-provoking games and tests. I had no idea what psychology was before I took this class, and now I know a great deal!
This teacher was not very good, he was very organized though, his test didn't go with his objectives, he did give extra credit however u had to work really hard for 2 points. His lectures were a bore. I wouldn't take classes with this teacher.
Chuck is the best prof. I've had at Normandale. It is obvious that he truly enjoys teaching. He comes prepared with interesting lectures that actual keep you listening. Chuck's intelligence is a real turn on.
I had him for General Psych and he was great! He had lots of activities and would make sure that everyone got the material. For exams he gives an idea of what is on them- study them. Favorite class of last semester!
Chuck is a really nice person. He is NOT a snooty professor who expects too much. He IS a very down to earth, and likeable person. You will know the first day if you like him or not. He has a light sense of humor and is always there to help. His intro to psych class is so easy anyone could pass. He offers so much extra credit. I recommend!
Chuck is funny guy - SUPER nice to his students. If you have A.D.D. avoid this class! I took the 4 hour long class and tuned out after about an hour and a half (he does give you breaks every hour or so) - My grade suffered because of this. Material was kind of dry, but chuck split it up by having interactive activities/experiments/assignments.
Great Teacher. Makes everything very clear and easy to understand.
Chuck is a nice guy, he gives his students every possible chance to pass this course with a good grade. The class is VERY well prepared and organized. He gives you learning objectives for every test so you know exactly what will be on the tests. There is a lot of reading, and it is very important that you come to class or you will get behind.
He's so sweet and nice!
What a great prof!
Great professor! This man deserves TWO chili-pepper ratings!
great teacher... very easy class.. but u have to show up to class b/c there's a lot of in class points and activities.. tests r pretty easy, notes on D2l.. just study a bit and make sure to listen in class.. about 20 pts of Extra Credit available
Great guy. Really funny and always willing to help. One of the few teachers who actually cares. Psych of Personality was very interesting, and easily kept the classes attention. Great experience.
He is fun and relaxed but knows how to get stuff done. Good class, interesting teaching style.
He is AWESOME, so nerdy and cute and admits it. he has a PHD and is smart as heck, very organized and his tests are SO easy, his learning objectives are exactly what you need to know for the test, hes awesome. take him FOR SURE!!
not that great of a class. it's a lot of busy work with pointless discussion posts and writing assignments. the class is loosely structured and we've never been on schedule.
Chuck is my least favorite teacher. He barely teaches anything to us other than what's on his powerpoints, that we do every single day. If you don't know something, he won't teach it to you, instead he will make you feel like an idiot and keep going. If you have registered for his class. GET OUT NOW!!! Try Dave Lake, He's a great teacher.
He has a great sense of humor and his class is easy for those who show up.
Chuck is awesome. He doesn't strictly follow the textbook because he does have a PhD. He does use powerpoint slides, however he makes comments on them and explains them so class attendance is helpful. Chuck just rocks socks. I'm looking at signing up for his other classes. BTW this is coming from Honors Gen Psych.
Easy course with very little effort. The course was excessively light and humorous....almost to a fault.
Chuck rocks. I was a little over my head in honors, but I passed. He does explain everything you need to know, even though I had a hard time retaining it, it was honors. I can't wait to take his sex class this fall, becasue chuck makes everything interesting, and if he doesn't, he will let the class make it interesting, and chuck, join my mafia ;)
I can't stress enough how awesome Honors Gen. Psych. with Chuck was. He has high expectations and cares about his students' learning, so you can't expect to just coast and get an A, but he's helpful and understanding if you're struggling. He has genuine goodwill towards his students, which makes all the difference. I learned so much with him.
I really enjoyed Chuck's class. He is a really good teacher and makes his expectaions clear. He is willing to answer questions and give feedback. Honestly, if you show up and do the work, you'll do well.
I took Honors Gen Psych with Chuck and I really enjoyed it. Chuck really, really knows his stuff and cares about his students learning, and has a genuine talent for teaching. The class was really fun too; one of our essays was on our favorite swear word. Would totally recommend Chuck.
Great teacher, he will make you work for the grade, but you will also learn the content. Easy to understand, talks to the class (not white board), encourages questions, and is willing to work around family emergency's ect. Large amount of lecture and some group work base on critical thinking. Notes are important though, you will need them.
Gret teacher! Class is really fun! I highly recommend (sp?) taking this class.
Favorite Prof at Normandale
Good guy, fun class
Uninteresting subject, and his teaching style is way awkward.
Although Chucks class was usually fun, I felt the class time was wasted. Chuck seemed to entertain the rants of many of the students. I also found the class slides that chuck to use slightly confusing because of there wording. Chuck was VERY VERY slow to return work. I thought chuck was kind and funny but I wish I took the class from another prof.
Chuck is a GREAT professor. He is friendly, approachable, makes class fun & interesting and gets you engage, which works well for me. He makes every possible way for you to pass the class with extra credit & easy tests. If you show and and try, you WILL get an A. It was not that difficult. I definitely recommend taking him! One of my favorites!
Class is interesting. He gives learning objectives before every test making it easy to pass his tests. If I had the parts necessary I would offer to have his babies.
Chuck is literally the best teacher I've ever had, he has great balance all around and I recommend to all my friends and they are always thanking me for suggesting such a great teacher!
This professor is one of the best professor's I have ever had. You do have to work for a good grade. He's a genius and treats all students with respect and dignity.
Chuck keeps things interesting. Course Objectives are given out for you to complete before each quiz. Complete and study these and you will do fine. Don't complete these and you will do poorly as much of my class did. Class was rarely boring. I got to see a actual human brain! : ) Good Professor, Bad at getting your stuff graded in time.
If you're here to LEARN, then this is not the place to be. FUN professor/class? Well, when a professor cannot control their FUN students in class, then those of us trying to learn something can open a window and throw our tuition money out! Powerpoints all the time. Really? This is the REAL world. I can read at home.
Although, Chuck is a nice guy his class was always off base. Chuck could barely keep the class in line. It was mildly hard, with very few interesting facts.
Chuck is a fair professor and does NOT play favorites when it comes to grading (trust me,I've taken enough of his classes to know).I see people commenting that the class was out of control, but honestly,we had some really good discussions and I learned a lot.As for the tests, EVERYTHING RELATES TO A LEARNING OBJECTIVE!WHICH HE GIVES YOU!Studying = A
He made an awkward class (Human Sexuality) completely not awkward. The way he taught the class was consistently interesting. Only problem were the essays every other week that you HAVE to turn in online.
Terrible teacher, never on track, always behind on everything. He comes up with every excuse for himself then isn't understanding for his students. Do not take his class. He can barely control the class. He also makes you look and feel stupid when you ask him a question.
1st day of class I felt it was going to be a great semester with this professor- I was wrong, very hard to follow and bad teaching skills. Never missed a class and still had a horrible grade :( I don't recommend.
Super nice guy, did a fantastic job teaching! Highly recommend! Wolf shirts daily haha!
Chuck gives you all the necessary information to get an A in his class. If you show up for class, take good notes on the power points, and read the chapters, you will get an A. He gives plenty of extra credit and posts learning objectives as well. He even gives reviews right before our tests. Very kind-hearted, inviting, humorous professor.
Super fun guy. Gives exact materials needed to succeed. Super interesting. Just show up and pay attention. He doesn't give a lot of time to those who clearly don't care
Stands on the edge of decency for teaching Gen. Psych. Elementary power points, so note taking is simple. Power points not online. He's not a morning person, so I do not recommend taking his "first class of the day" even when it's 1pm. "Stupid questions" exist, tends to insult students. Blends his "Sexuality class" with Gen. Psych, uncomfortably.
If you are a good student you will do well. You'll get out of this class whatever you put into it. He expects you to earn your grade.
Unengaging instructor. Low energy. Teaching method lacks innovation. Majority of class time is spent transposing from PowerPoint slides. Does not convey passion for his work nor the success of the student. Read other reviews on this professor from those who have taken 2000 level courses as I found them to be very accurate evaluations.
Not a very engaging instructor. I would not recommend.
Dr. Chuck is an awesome teacher who is very helpful. His walk in office hours are fantastic. Ask any question you want. This class can prove to be very awkward at first, but after a couple days you learn to love it. Awesome class with an awesome guy.
Chuck is by far the best Professor I've ever had! He discusses awkward topics in a very comfortable and professional way, while still being hilarious! His class is incredibly straight-forward, lectures from easy to follow power points and ties in class and small group discussions. His tests are easy if you just show up to the class!
Love this professor! I took a 4 hour Intro to Psychology class and his power points and lectures are always so interesting. He also does self tests to help you see your personality and behavior better. Tests and quizes are tough but if you study, you'll do fine.
Chuck was a fun guy to get to know, but I didn't learn anything in his class. Lectures are long and it's a lot of power points that are not online for review. Wants you to be able to APPLY the concepts not just learn the facts. Doesn't really teach you how to apply them. Reading the textbook would have taught me just as much.
hes just awesome
Chuck is an awesome professor he engages the class in a excellent manor, ha time after class r those that have questions and gives plenty of stuff for extra credit, in class activities are fun, Take notes because you will need them for test. Test are not hard as long as you study.
Great Professor!! Long lectures but very informative. Quizzes were a bit difficult. Loved this course.
Chuck was a nice guy but, he was a bad professor. It took him the entire semester to grade my classes homework assignments and we didn't get the results of our HW until after the final was over. He has a ton of powerpoints which he lectures from and that's the majority of the class. If you need a psych credit, I would recommend another professor.
I liked him. I felt he was good professor. Lectures were good. Just be prepared for his quizzes by going over his reviews and you will be okay.
This class is so much fun and interesting to take, but I probably would've wanted a different professor for it. Chuck uses a ton of powerpoints, and hardly anything learned in class is on the quizzes- which are every 2 weeks btw. He takes forever to grade papers so you don't know how you did on one before you start another. Super frustrating.
Very clear expectations for students, he lays out all the information you need to know in the form of learning objectives. You look through your notes and match the learning objectives to the book information and you are set. It is not hard if you put in the effort but you need to put in effort if you want to do well. No trick questions on tests.
I loved going to this class. Even though all tests are multiple choice, you must study if you want an "A" in this class. You will learn a ton from Chuck as he is a brilliant individual. He is by far one of my favorite professors and I hope I get to take another class of his as there isn't ever a dull moment. He also offers office hours to help you.
This is the second class I've taken with Chuck. I enjoyed the content as well as his sense of humor. I also enjoy his classes because his expectations are very clear. If you want an A in his classes, do the learning objectives. He basically gives all of the answers to the tests in these objectives and it helps the material stick.
Very interesting class. Powerpoint lecture most of the time. Really enjoyed being in his class! I just wish that he would grade writing assignments faster.
Chuck is great, I honestly do not have any negative things to say about him.
Chuck is an amazing professor and person in general. He loves talking with his students during his office hours and gives extra credit for visiting him! His facial gestures will certainly make you laugh, as well as his nerdy memes.
All his exams are multiple choice. He gives you learning objectives which basically tell you what the questions will be on. If you do them, its an easy A. There will also be lots of opportunities for extra credit. His lectures are pretty chill, very interesting and straight to the point.
I took Chuck for intro to psych, and I thought he was a little on the heavier side for lectures. I want to major in psych, and didn't do too well in the class. But, I also didn't show up for a few classes, and you lose participation points if you don't!! Got a C in the class, but could've done better! 4 tests overall. Study!!
Honestly as an intro class I didn't expect it to be easy by any means, but I didn't expect it to be a complete waste of time either. He uses a lot of TED TALKS," and doesn't provide enough information or notes. He likes group worksheets and the class period is worthless for learning, but then the exams are extremely difficult which doesn't help.
Talks a lot about sex for some reason but does correlate to the material. First day of class he said he had condoms available for anyone gives clear information on how to do well, pay attention and you'll be fine
Chuck is a great professor. Lectures most of the time but it's very interesting to listen to and relates to the tests. There are group activities every class which are easy to do. Three exams plus the final. No other assignments. Study his learning objectives which are essentially the study guide and it's an easy A.
Great professor, approachable, appreciates feedback, not to hard of a grader. Those who put in the effort will be rewarded with a good grade. Also works with students so you can make up missed class and has plenty of opportunities for extra credit.
I do NOT recommend if you need additional learning accommodations to succeed. This professor was very unwavering in all aspects of his class. While I learned well from the lecture heavy presentations, I witnessed several other students struggle greatly & receive no meaningful help from him. Over a third of his class failed each exam and course.
Chuck is truly great. This class was easier than his Intro to Psych class. Lectures are fun and entertaining. Graded on 25 point quizzes, a few short and easy papers and class activities-- which are easy and count toward your grade, so show up. Use the learning objective for studying. Show up to class, he does not post lectures online.
Class was cancelled on more than one occasion due to Chuck not being prepared, tests were postpones due to Chuck not being prepared, final was administered by a different teacher. This teacher is uncomfortable with students, not prepared, does not put notes online. A nice enough guy but not fit for teaching in the slightest. Would not recommend.
He is nice, however, his tests are hard he doesn't have good notes nor puts online and not always prepared I don't recommend this class to anyone.
lectures the entire class, but does not provide or tell you what might be on the test. For my semester he had some mental health issues happening so he didnt grade any of our papers until the semester, said he was going to be going easy, but then didnt give any feedback on why I did not receive full credit. One of the worst professors Ive had!
This class has to be one of the worst classes Ive ever taken. Chuck talks very slowly and the other students I took this class with often spoke out in class off topic and were overall just immature. The writing assignments were also very difficult and uncomfortable to write about. I really wouldn't recommend this class to anyone.
I had high hopes for Chuck. But he was put on leave halfway through because he sexually harassed a student back in 2018. If he is able to keep teaching, hopefully hes gotten help for some of his issues. I thought he was a nice guy, creepy at times though. Good sense of humor and loved questions. The harassment story ruined any and all trust though.
