Very straight forward guy. Always in a good mood (even though the class is in the late afternoon). Go to all lectures and take good notes(even though he doesn't take attendance) because 99% of his test comes from lecture. He'll do reviews the class before the test which are REALLY helpful.

Nyce is a cheery guy who's very entertaining in class. While I thought this was going to be a boring course, Nyce manages to make it very interesting. This tests are somewhat difficult but as long as you read through his slideshows and go to his reviews the class before, you should be fine!

I thought this course would by very dull, but with Dr. Nyce, it was the complete opposite! I strongly recommend this class for how much you will learn and for being able to get to know a really great professor. He is extremely entertaining in class which helps make the material more bearable. Take this class!!!

Tests are tricky, material is easy. Some HW assignments need the book to help answer it, but not super difficult. Funny guy, go the the review sessions before the tests!

Online. One HW quiz and discussion post due each week. All tests(3) are taken in the testing center and aren't too bad. I mean he gives you EVERYTHING you would possibly need to know in the online lectures, powerpoint slides, and exam review questions. Most exam review questions are even on the exam. Charles is a nice guy and a decent teacher. His biggest problem is that he goes off topic way too much. Insurance and risk management isn't easy by any means but he explains the concepts well. The tests aren't hard but they are not easy either and you have to study hard for them. Lot of the questions are based off lecture. Go to class to pass

Dr. Nyce really knows his stuff and is always there to help you if you need him. The class consists of weekly quizzes and discussion boards and two to three exams. The exams are based on the information from his PowerPoints and his review questions on BlackBoard

Professor Nyce makes the class interesting and clear! The tests aren't too tough as long as you read the powerpoints and look over the chapters in the book. TAKE THE ONLINE VERSION INSTEAD. I understand how the lectures can be long and boring, but online you can pause whenever/take better notes. People complain tests are tricky (A and C, A and C, none of the above kind of stuff) but that just means you have to ACTUALLY study/know your stuff. Easy A if you put any kind of effort in.

He's pretty clear with his expectations. Sometimes he says what's coming on the test. The power points literally say everything that's coming on the test. Be in class just to do the Iclicker points but paying attention is not requiered

Dr. Nyce is very knowledgeable about risk management and does a good job communicating what's needed to know. He gives study guides for the tests.

Dr. Nyce is a great professor who seems very passionate about risk management. I took this class online. Pay attention to lectures and take notes! The tests are hard/detailed but multiple choice. Just make sure you study. I got a B on all the tests (usually an A student). I didn't buy the book and didn't need it. All tests come from the slides.

One of my favorite teachers so far here at FSU. He does a great job making his grading criteria crystal clear and gives away ample opportunities for extra credit. His lectures can really interesting at times too. Overall, a very fair (in terms of judgement and reasonableness) professor who makes a seemingly boring topic interesting.

Never got to meet him in person but his class was well constructed. Tests are pretty fair but sometimes a little ambiguous -- feels like more than one answer could work. Overall i'd recommend the class for business or non business majors, it's pretty interesting.

Nyce makes tons of dad jokes and is a really nice guy. Class was easy, just memorize the power points and you'll be fine. I only attended the lectures for iClicker points, otherwise I wouldn't have needed to go. Long lectures and kind of repetitive but overall easy class.

Took it online. Pretty easy overall, you are expected to complete a 10 question quiz every week and 3 "discussion board" posts within blackboard. Not bad at all if you set aside an hour per week to get that work done and maybe watch the lectures. Exams are straight from powerpoints, set aside a week at least to ensure an A on them.

Dr. Nyce is an excellent professor that attempts to be funny while simultaneously offering a clear lecture on Risk Management. He goes by the PowerPoints provided online but gives detail during lecture. I would caution about thinking this is an easy A class, but definitely know that the tests are fair and you get out what you put in.

I'm usually a b/c student but honestly all you have to do for this class is print the power points, watch the lectures, take additional notes from the lecture, make a flashcard for like every slide and then memorize them. Took me like 2-3 days leading up to the tests to do all of that and the tests came so easy to me. Also a lot of extra credit.

I thought I was going to hate this class in the beginning but with the lectures and guidance of Prof Nyce and the TAs he had, I was able to pull through this class and actually learn. But he really does make the course interesting and tries to sell the rmi major. He's very professional and kinda funny.

I took his online class and it was great, there was an assignment and discussion every week that were not bad and the test questions came from his powerpoints. His tests are designed in a way that if you have studied then you will be fine and if you did not you would have a lot of trouble. As long as you study for the tests and do the work its fine

One of my favorite professors. I took his 6 week online course during the summer and it was a breeze honestly. He makes this class easy by giving a clear criteria as to what he expects from his students. Participation matters because of the discussion board every week. The assignments are easy (1 for each module) and the exams follow the PPs.

The class was very interesting and also mandatory for business majors. Dr. Nyce was a great lecturer but the tests were ridiculously hard for the easy topic. I wouldn't take the class again just because the tests but the clicker is participation and the homework is super easy.

Amazing guy and course.

Best professor I've had so far at this school. Started the class with a 56 on the first test and almost dropped. I went to his office hours one time before the 2nd test and he broke down his whole thought process of writing his tests and explained all the concepts in detail. Got a 92 on the second test. Chillest professor I've ever had.

Make sure you get all the points for the assignments, def do all EC, and for tests study the powerpoints and the learning objectives that go with them (those are test topics). Not hard but not an easy A (studied hours), but doable if you put in work. Don't screw up on tests as there are only 3. Treats students fairly, don't ask for extra EC.

Watch the lectures and do the readings and you'll survive. He gives a test review which is literally 46/50 of the exam questions. Theres a homework assignment each week that can always be found on quilt. As long as you study for the test you'll do fine. Gives 10% extra credit opportunities for each test.

Definitely not the Easy A everyone makes it out to be. Reading the slides can get you a good grade but overall there is a lot of info you need to know and many lists that go along with that info you need to know. Don't get textbook. The most interesting class I've taken at FSU. Make sure to watch the videos and read over powerpoints- memorizing the information is critical for the tests. This class is full of real-world scenarios and I learned something new every class. Nyce wants everyone to succeed in the class and gives you the tools to do it. Highly recommend!

Studied for hours upon hours only to come out with an 85 every test. You have to know every piece of information and the 1, 2, 3 questions with 7 answer choices make it hard. Sometimes 2 hw modules will be due at once, so do them in advance. They're very easy to forget about and you will need all the points you can get. Nice guy, interesting class.

Overall great class and great professor. The tests are on the difficult side but definitely not impossible once you put some time in studying. Incredible guest lectures (often by CEOs) that if you're interested can connect with career-wise. I learned a lot and laughed a lot. Dr. Nyce is definitely the man.

Pretty easy and fair class overall. Only assignments due are 25 question assignments once a week based off lectures. You do have to watch the lectures to get the correct answers, you cant google them. 4 or 5 live webinars you must attend live to receive credit or take a quiz on if you cant attend live. 4 EC webinars given too. Nyce is a solid professor. Theres three exams a semester and they are all based off his powerpoints. Really no need for the book. And theres always a weekly module assignment thatll be easy as well.

Great guy, easy A class. Videos can be long but doable to watch and take notes for his weekly 25-question hws due every Friday. He puts questions at the end that randomly are answered throughout his videos but they're easy to find with transcripts. Tons of extra credit and this is a huge boost. He's super understanding of different situations too.

an easy class... i averaged cs on the exams but did good on the quizzes (they are open note) and did the extra credit he gave. he also rounded my final grade up to an a which was really great. watch the lectures in fast speed, take some notes and youll do fine.

BEST PROFESSOR!! each chapter has a open note quiz (easy 100's) then 3 exams. his exams are his lectures and if u ask for help, he will go through each powerpoint for u and circle what u need to know. def take him he's the best!

You do have to go to class to get something called "Presentation Questions" which are on the weekly, or bi weekly quizzes. 5/25 questions on each assignment come from the class. I didn't bother buying his book because his recorded lectures work well. There was a simple quiz for every chapter (use quizlet), and two exams counted for 65% of your grade. Make sure to memorize the learning objectives and know the powerpoints very well for the exams. Overall, not a hard class if you prepare, with a bit of extra credit.

Im currently taking professor Nyce as a sophomore. Hes the best professor Ive had so far which is saying a lot since all my professors have been great. His lectures are extremely enjoyable, he has a great personality and has a way of making learning fun. Keep it up professor Nyce!

Honestly- ive never had a professor who seemed like he cared so much about what he is teacher than Nyce. He is always so passionate about what he is teaching which makes the class far more interesting. Yea, the material can be hard, but Nyce makes it so he actually teachers you and prepares you unlike some other business professors(cough Patterson)

Dr. Nyce is a great professor. He gives A LOT of extra credit, homework is easy, and exams are straight forward if you study for them. IClicker class participation matters so go to class and get the points. Overall a good class.

He was a great professor I never had any issues in his class very clear expectations. I will say I don't love the format of his multiple choice questions because a lot of the time even if you did know something you would second guess your answers due to formatting. overall 8/10

You can tell he's passionate about what he's teaching and his lectures, although mandatory, are very interesting and enjoyable. Good workload and tests are very manageable if you study. Cares about his students and is accessible outside of class.

This professor actually has a life and serves on a few boards. Very competent, intelligent guy who is very articulate and teaches very well. He offers plenty of extra credit that ends up contributing massively to final grade. Do not bother with the textbook and just pay attention in his lectures and you will be alright.

Charles Nyce is one of the best proffessors I've had. His lectures are interesting and you can tell he's super passionate about what he's teaching. His assignments and tests are very reasonable and I found them to be easy/directly based off his teaching material.

Writing this review literally while studying for the final. Yet, I have come to say Dr. Nyce is the best professor. Although the content can be a bit boring, Dr. Nyce does his utmost best to make the material interesting including intriguing facts and laugh-worthy jokes and tophats. You can tell Dr. Nyce cares! Nyce is literally the best! Love him! Three non-cumulative exams and a weekly quiz that is open book. He makes things very clear and puts things into simple terms and real-life scenarios. He is very funny and if you do your work and lightly study you will end up with an A.

Charles is a great teacher. He's funny, real, and relatable. His tests are difficult at times, but he offsets those with extra credit. I have no gripes about this teacher at all, I literally watched 3 people switch their majors to RMI because of his class.

An amazing lecturer with fun class topics. Relates material to real world stuff. Exams are easy, based on the ppt slides and he clearly outlines what you need to know. Exams take a bit of studying the night before but nothing too hard. Offers lots of extra credit throughout the semester. Great class overall.

Professor Nyce is a great professor and he always finds ways to keep the class interesting. He's one of the reasons I decided to add RMI as a major and I'm looking forward to taking another class with him next semester. Highly recommend Nyce he's great at getting the main points across and you can tell he wants his students to succeed.

Professor Nyce is a funny dude. His classroom feels a bit raunchy at times but he's able to draw in his students to pay attention because of it. He always makes an effort to say hi to me when I'm working in the Rovetta hallways too. Despite having a 500-person lecture hall, he makes an effort to know students who care and engage students who don't.

Nyce is funny and interesting, and he makes lectures as fun and relevant as possible. He takes poll questions for attendance every class, and gives 2-3 extra credit opportunities a semester. The exams are exactly what you would expect from the textbook, lectures and practice exams and are all multiple choice.

3 exams and weekly quizzes. This class is not an easy A. There is a lot of material on each exam requiring a lot of studying for each exam. Charles Nyce is a good professor, the material is just rather difficult to retain. I took for general business minor, and you could probably find an easier class to take for it than this one.

Definitely not the easiest class to take if you are looking to fulfill your business minor. Almost completely graded off of 3 exams with each one being more hyper specific the last. Definitely felt like I learned a ton about insurance though!

Attendance is mandatory through TopHat but his lectures are engaging and interesting. Be prepared to study for exams at least a few days before and you will be fine!

I really liked his course and how passionate he was in what he taught. Super interesting class and he has inspired lots of students to change their majors to RMI. I would totally take another one of his classes, but if you are one to skip class a lot I would recommend taking his online section as attendance is graded.

COME TO CLASS. Majority of your grade comes from answering the polling questions in class. His lectures are entertaining but ultimately if you study the slides he posts you will do fine on the exams. Also he gives out so much extra credit.

Probably the best professor I've ever had at FSU. His lectures are super interesting and make you want to come to class. All of the test answers come straight from the power point slides and the module quizzes are super easy. If you take the in person version make sure to come to class as 12% of your grade is based on coming to class.

Professor Nyce is so amazing. His lectures are engaging and he makes himself super accessible to students. He specifically helped me make a tough decision regarding internships (they were in insurance so he was particularly knowledgable). Nyce has very clear grading criteria and the tests aren't overly difficult.

Good professor, is very engaging and always uses current and relative references to connect to lectures. Usually only one assignment per week and there is extra credit after each exam. Exams are pretty straight forward, but the only thing is that he makes some questions about things only people in class would know, so it's important to go to class.

Make sure you show up to class since he likes doing TopHat questions and guest speaker pop quizzes. His exams are easy as long as you study his learning objectives. This class was a great intro to RMI. Prof. Nyce gives lots of extra credit and exams are not bad at all. I enjoyed this class and it made me want to stick with RMI as my major!

Charles Nyce is an amazing professor. His lectures are always interesting and he is very knowledgeable about risk management and insurance. You need to study for his exams to do well on them, as some of the questions can be tricky. However, he does give a good amount of extra credit which helps your grade. I would recommend taking him.

The only teacher who has made me consider switching out of Finance into another major solely because of how he teaches. He is super engaging and the material is actually interesting. Best way to study is look at his ppt lectures and take notes on those sections in the textbook. Tests are very similar to the hws. Do that and you'll do great.

This class is so fun, he makes the lecture so enjoyable. There is a quiz at the end of each week, and an exam at the TC every 5 chapters. You can put minimal time studying in and make A's. Not to mention he does polling questions in class to give you free points to boost your grade!!

Dr. Nyce is exactly the professor you want. He gives you a great lecture and is actually pretty entertaining. I switched my major because of this class to RMI. I've got no complaints about this guy. Went to office hours once, we talked about classwork for maybe 2 minutes and then talked about the Wii for another 30. He's a loveable nerd.

His exams are pretty specific to his PowerPoint and he doesn't give definitions in the powerpoints, so do your research. Module quizzes after each module.

Great professor overall. Has multiple daily "polling" questions for attendance that count towards your grade. His lectures are super engaging and uses relevant references to make you laugh and keep you engaged. Study the learning objectives and slides associated and you will be fine on for the exam. RMI 2302 is such an easy class, and Nyce makes it even easier. Although it's hard to consistently score above 95% on exams, there are also weekly module quizzes (which are so easy) and daily TopHat polling questions for attendance. He also has a couple of extra credit opportunities.

When I signed up for the class I expected to be bored out of my mind, but Nyce does an incredible job keeping students engaged in class. He's funny and very reasonable with grading, offers plenty of extra credit. Textbook chapters are not that long, and I would recommend reading them. Be sure to go to class and you'll be in good shape.

Nyce is a good dude, he can't help that RMI is the most boring subject on the planet. Exams are written with lots of roman numeral questions and are based on how well you can memorize powerpoint slides. Take this course online if you can, the lectures are not worth your time.
