He's pretty cool and classes were actually interesting, but there is some work to do in the class

Poff was by far my favorite teacher at CVCC. He was very fun and entertaining, and we often engaged in very interesting classroom discussion. He challenges you to think, and is very helpful.

Poff's classes are the reason I get out of bed in the morning: we not only learn in his courses, but we actually have discussions, thus the students have their input. The class is not structured around the professor lecturing, but around the students and their opinions and take on the literature.

poff was awesome, he is very helpful and myabe its hard to fail the class but its hard to get an A too.. you must put in a decent amount of work to even get a B...

He invigorate his students to learn more on the subjects he covers in class .his passion for the subject of literature consumes the students in his class ,infighting a fire in us to look deeper into all the words that pass before our eyes thru out our life . Poff sparked my desire to learn, not only in English, but all the time. He inspires me everytime I talk to him. I have never met anyone with such a love of the job. Poff has taught me more than just English as he is around to listen to any of his students about anything they may need.

Poffarino is awesome. As long as you do all the work, you get a C, no matter how bad it is, and my work was pretty bad, but I still made out ok. Definitely take him if you can. At least you'll have something good to look at! LOL!

Excellent teacher - inspired me to add on an English minor. Like the departed McCarty, really goes the extra mile and rather than searching for high test scores or giving homework just for the sake of doing so, he makes the student understand and comprehend - and that is indeed admirable.

Poof is the man!

Poff-daddy is the absolute best professor at CVCC. I'm sorry if youre too closed minded to appreciate his extraverted and outspoken personality. Hes definatly not just for high school students! Hes a wonderful person and will help you beyond belief. He got me back on track when my first year wasnt going so well. If you have a chance to get Poff for english, go for it. :-D

Since Poff's class I have become a better writer, student, & friend. He is hands down the best professor at CVCC. If you plan on taking his class, be prepared to have fun, but you had better work hard because with all the effort that he puts into teaching, he deserves to get students who are willing to put all they have into the work for his class.

Poff, Charles Redwine, and his favorite, Chuck, is the best prof ever! had him for eng 111 & 112. witty & willing to help, just go by the poffice. he made eng fun, was very hands on which helped my class and me to learn a lot, definately not a class you would want to miss because it is so fun! Gives great nicknames! GET IN THIS CLASS!

An honor to CVCC's campus. Poff actually gives a dam about his students. That's why we like him. The good looks, charisma, and wit help, but when it comes down to it, students can tell who is sincere in their wishes for students success.

Best professor you will ever had! I had him for my World Lit class 251 and 252 in 2010 and 2011, easily the ONE class I always look forward too! You learn a lot with Poff! I HIGHLY recommend to ANYONE that they take a Poff class! Besides, you get great nicknames that last a forever ;)

Poff is a wonderful teacher; he's incredibly entertaining and drives his students to do their best. He is quite picky about MLA formatting, but he lets you know his expectations up front. His sharp sense of humor and his friendliness towards students is impeccable. I urge, no DEMAND, that you try to get into one of his classes.

Looking back a year after completing two of Prof Poff's English courses, I can authoritatively state that Charles Poff is the most engaging and content oriented teacher one may ever encounter while attending a university. Kudos for his superior quality!

Poff's class is enjoyable as long as you meet his guidelines. By the way if you want a dull, quiet, boring, fall asleep kind of class don't go to Prof. Poff's class cause it gets loud and is very entertaining. If I ever have to take another English class Prof. Poff is my first choice.

Honestly, one of the best teachers I've ever had. He isn't easy,but is more than willing to help you out. If his class is full at the beginning of the semester(it normally is) just go to his office and talk to him. 22 is the maximum students in each class, but he can force enter to 24. TAKE HIM! You won't regret it.

He never assigns pointless work, nor wastes your time or $$ (No textbook used), and you are always welcome to chat or seek guidance with your papers in his office.

If you have situations that come up, he will work with you. Definitely is not a jerk about it, like other teachers. He also helps a lot if you go to him and ask him.

Attendance is mandatory if you want to pass, but as long as you participate you should be fine. He is really funny and makes English enjoyable. As the first college ENG I was expecting a tedious, useless course. To my surprise, it was the more practical and intellectually stimulating (in a good way!) than all four years of HS! 6 absences you should fail the course per syllabus, however, if you're bright, respectful, and make an effort but having a hard time adjusting he may take off less

3 tags does not justify Mr. Poff. he is hilarious, inspirational, and has a clear grading criteria as well. One of the best professors here at CVCC. if any student needs to take english to meet their graduation requirements. try to get this man as your english professor. you will have a great semester and tons of laughs.

Poff Daddy C is the best teacher you will ever have! The only advice I can give is do not take this class if you can't handle constant jokes.

Poff is a fantastic teacher. He knows his subjects and makes it easy to understand. He's always willing to work with students on papers and assignments. If you take his class READ the books. Also, do NOT wait to start the final paper unless you like all night frantic writing cause your paper is due the next morning.

Poff is incredibly knowledgeable about everything that he talks about. He makes sure that everyone participates in class discussion, and his class is generally a light-hearted environment. If you're absent one day just shoot him an email and you're generally ok. His office is a fire hazard, but it has candy and a coffee maker open to all.

Always easy to reach and hilarious of course, but beyond that, he really inspires his students to learn and gain all that they can from his course. However, it is not a drag or a bother to do so, it is fun, exciting and intriguing. My only complaint, is after taking his course I want to take more courses taught by him.

The class was overall great , I personally did not like the essay topics I felt like I had to force my self to read them because they just didnt really peak my interest

This is the best man to ever walk the halls of CVCC. Everybody loves him, and he loves everybody. He cares about each of his students. I wish he would transfer to my 4year college with me so I could keep him as my professor. All you have to do is show up to class, READ, and by all means do NOT wait until the last minute to complete the final paper.

Poff is clearly an education genius. Be prepared to read... a lot... but also to enjoy reading, discussions, and group participation. There's no end to the joke or learning. The assignments are actually easy to maintain as long as you stay on top of them instead of leaving for the last minute. Wish I could take another course with Poff!

Best Professor Ive ever had. Super funny, caring, and makes an effort to get to know you even if its an online class. I messed up with my final paper and he let me revise and resubmit days after it was due. Just a super great Professor that I wish I could have gone to a class to meet in person.
