Sweet man,funny, helpful, think ...the rum comercial "i just want a melon!" laid back attitude!
Super Good Prof, would highly recommend him...had funny stories to tell, is super helpful, notes are clear to understand. Answers andy questions and replies to emails fast. If your gonna take soci and you get a chance to have him as a prof, DO IT!!!!!!

you've got to be kidding me. i fall asleep in his class! we spend every minute of every class writing notes off the overhead, and not ONCE has he let us out early! (night class) in fact, i'd be happy to GIVE you my spot in his class.
SNORE! Stop sucking up, all of you, and tell the truth. Avoid this class at all costs.
This is a great teacher, the class can be boring, its mostly notes, and it can be hard to understand Charles at first because of his accent. Other then that he is an amazing teacher, if you have a problem just talk to him, if you missed assingments or essays he will let you make them up if you talk to him about it.
AMAZING TEACHER! his notes are very clear & he gives you lots of opportunities for marks. his tests are pretty hard, but half of them are open book! gives great examples and is a fascinating guy overall. i would highly recommend him to anybody, just be prepared to work hard and STUDY! STUDY! STUDY! for tests. very helpful for tests as well
This prof. is really good, his classes are so interesting & easy!!!!! I didn't even try @ all,guranteed A. The best teacher I ever had!!!How could any 1 give him a low mark, u must b on sumthin.
Very helpful and understanding. If people are having problems in his class they must not be going to class. Excellent professor although he is a bit scattered at times. It is easy to get marks in this class.
Never taking his class avoid it at all cost like some mentioned before!!! obviously some are not being truthful if you want your GPA to drop by all means take it but caution his accent is very very hard to understand!!! overall i got an C even though i did ALL my work!!! half the class couldn't understand his lectures!!! let alone his assignments!

This professor is so hard to understand,His lectures are absolutely boring and their are pages of notes!Test are extremely difficult some questions that dont even make any sense! Understanding his lecture are very complicating goodluck whoever takes this class. His assignments are ery hard to understand. VERY HARD marker!! At any cost do not take his class!
Dr.Charles is a really good teatcher. Take his class and youll get a good mark as long as you do the work. Every week you write a short essay and as long as you write somthing you get a mark.His online open book quizes are awesome and the same quiz comes up in the midterm. Charles dosent even compare to the other teachers at kwantlen. He is kind and if you ask him for help or an extension hell give it to you.All you have to do is pay attention and study for the tests and youll do fine. I dont know why all these idiots are complaining compared to the other classes at kwantlen this ones a breeze.

Charles is a great prof. His notes are impectable and very thorough, alothough you must print 8 or so pages for each class. The class maybe hard on your printer, but i doubt you'll have a problem. He is there to help if needed and he is very approachable! I recommend this professor on high regard!
fair teacher,very kind.the skeleton notes are great.Interested in getting student feedback. Most importantly,he wants you to learn, so if you're not tell him,he'll work with you to find a way.Group essays can be difficult, just tell him when your group doesn't work, and he'll let you do the essays on your own.Excellent teacher,highly recommended!
very good prof...uses alot of examples to explain things..but mostly refers to his own race and his chilhood...overal...very easy,approachable, and funny. i definately recommend him!
Charles is a great teacher. His online quizes are easy because they are open book. Easy class just read the notes and you will do really well. I honestly recommend this class for people interested in sociology or even not interested.:D
Charles is a very good teacher, i would definately recommend him, the online quizzes are open book, there is a mini group essay due every week...as long as you do the readings and go to lecture u'll do wickdd...ended up with a a+
charles is the best teacher i've had at kwantlen. he's flexible and actually gives his students a chance which i think is great.
I would recommend only to the students who wants to earn the grades because he is very easy but as far as learning, he is hard to follow, his notes were hard to read. Overall, he was ok.
Amazing!! This is the only class I've never actually wanted to skip! And its a 10. am class! You learn alot about yourself and society. Do all essays and quizzes and study what he tells you to study and you will get an A.
He can be very disorganized and confusing with what he wants but he is very understanding and its easy to get around that. He is a very fair marker on his tests and all assignments. A good grade in this class is very easy as long you you participate.
AWESOME!!! He is such a WICKED teacher, really easy going and his quizzes are soooo EASY!!! He made Soc soo interesting and fun, take this class if you wanna harsh boost your GPA!!
Interesting at best. Very computer savvy, although sometimes his online quizzes do not work. Conceptual essays are interesting to do. Most of his notes are on the different theorae postulated by different schools of thought, so it would be imperative to know the major sociologists and their theorae, along with sociological vocabulary to do well!
Good teacher. good lectures, very helpful, and good office hours. He misplaced a lot of my work, and didnt enter in the marks many of the tests and quizzes i completed. due to this i got a c+ instead of the A i was expecting.
He's the worst teacher I've had so far. All he does is talk about Africa and his own experiences. He also uses the words "alright," "ok," and "you know" far too much! I cant learn anything from his teaching style. I would fully recommend people to avoid his class at all costs. It's an easy grade, but is it worth it to be bored out of your mind?

Charles is an amazing professor. His accent was a little hard at first, but now it's just part of the excitment of his teaching. He loves his subject, and it shows in his lecture. He is upbeat, fair, and understanding. I would most decinitely take another class with Charles in the future.
I reccomend him to everyone! I probably don't have to saaaaaaay much...but honestly..he makes me smile everytime. I love his voice mail... I made everyone in my family listen to it. YOU ROCK CHARLES!

I would not recommend him to anyone.He is unorganized, can't use the technology, doesn't always respond to emails, assignments are not clear at all, has no idea how to mark a paper.He has all the so called requirements but then never follows through.Easy grade, but was not worth my time.Literally could not stand him as a teacher.
Lets see, could not stand the disorganization. The syllabus had very little to do with assignments. He didn't seem to know what the assignments were. and to top it off...HE LOST MY FINAL EXAM AND I HAD TO RE-WRITE IT 3 WEEKS AFTER THE TERM WAS OVER, AFTER HE GAVE ME A "D" BECAUSE HE DIDN'T HAVE A FINAL EXAM MARK FOR ME! - DISORGANIZED
Charles is a great guy... but NOT a very good teacher. It's obvious that HE knows what he's talking about... but everything seems to get lost in translation. Is not clear with expecatations, and wonders why assignments haven't been done when he forgot to assign them in the first place!!! Also, WAY too much work is expected! completely UNREALISTIC!!
um... he is pretty funny with his ghanaian sayings.. There are A LOT of notes though, which are very hard to understand. You can tell he is really passionate about sociology, and it shows in his lectures. His tests are difficult though, you definately DEFINATELy must study... 3 tests, a bunch of online mini essays, and a group presentation
He is an awesome professor... he makes every class interesting and fun. I ended upwith a B in this class. It is an easy class if you show up for every class. And make sure you finish all the assignments. Charls is also a very easy marker. I would recommend this professor to anyone deciding to take sociology.
I didn't like him much. I found his lectures to be pretty boring, and he is VERY disorganised. He'll tell you one thing one day, and the opposite the next! The group project is interesting, but it's really difficult to do an essay with two other people. I like Sociology, but I'm going to try to avoid him after this class.
STAY AWAY!expects too many readings/assignments. Thinks this is the only class everybody is taking.DISORGANIZED forgets tests/changes dates around and surprises you with due dates.unclear about expectations.expects a very high amount of out of class work.even tests are online.Will not accept work in class must be dropped off during office hours.
charles!! hes awsome! as long as you show him that you care about your mark and put in the effort to ask questions about what you dont understand, and attend his classes, you will do great.

nice guy. talks about Ghana a lot. 2 midterms, first is all MC and was very wordy, hard to tell what the question is asking. 2nd is written, easy marker but fill-in-the-blanks was very difficult. provides notes, not very clear, language barrier,textbook is really boring. theres a group project,journal and you have to attend a event
I know Charles has good intentions but he is definitely not a very good professor. He has so much information that is clouds the main concepts and ideas of the course. He is also very disorganized and its incredibly difficult to get a hold of him or get help from him. He's not very clear with the expectations of assignments, too much work!
He is a nice teacher, very friendly, and teaches well. His workload is mediocre, its "do-able", but you have to do your fair share. There are journal (20 entries), Group Project, 1 essay (300 words), Midterm, Final Exam, and participation. Basically do all this before the due date and you'll be fine. DON'T leave things at the last minute.
This prof is so disorganized that the course became ridiculous. ALL his dates were mixed up (which he never fixed; he even mixed up the final exam date so that it became take-home! He cares about his students and is an easy marker but the hassel he puts his students through is not worth it. I WILL NEVER TAKE A COURSE FROM HIM AGAIN!
This man is so unorganized that I ended up hating the class. He knows what he's talking about but he can't communicate it. Also there're so many assignments (esp group ones) it's crazy. He expects way to much. All dates were mixed up so you never knew when anything was due. HE IS A BAD TEACHER!!!
I would not take him ever again. He does not know how to teach or has no organization skills.He does not help propoerly, and his lecture is very boring always going off topic. His notes are useless and he doesnt use the text,I have no idea where he gets his info from. I havent learnt anything about Sociology. Otherwise, nice person but LAME class!

Don't get me wrong he knows his stuff. But the notes were terrible, he was always mixing us up with his other class, he was always late and never organized. By semesters end no one showed up. I could go on forever, terrible prof.

Useless course. The course was about Terrorism and Globalization, but I learned nothing from him about the topic. He just recycles his notes from previous SOCI courses he's taught. He is also extremely disorganized with just about everything, especially his due dates. It's an easy A, but I doubt I would ever take him again. Not worth the hassle.
The best teacher ever. Extremely accommodating. Down to earth. A real human being. All university professor should be like him! Makes each student look forward to go to school. Make your presentations fun and papers thoughtful and you're guaranteed at least an A
Charles is a good teacher. He raises good discussion in his classes. Participation is a must. Tests are not hard. No papers. He has a lot of personal experiences and I have learned a lot just from his stories.
Very nice professor, easy marker, very lenient with deadlines. Tends to repeat himself often, and much of the course material is interchangeable with his other courses. Has a group project in every class at every level.

He is infamous for telling stories about his cocoa beans. There were a lot of writing assignments! He expected the class not only to write, but blog as well, so tedious. In order to do the blogs, the readings had to be done. Test are fairly easy as he is an easy marker, but study his notes to ace the test. Part of his test is open book. GPA boost!
Alright prof, very boring and doesn't give clear instructions. Barely responds to emails.

To get a good grade in his class is extremely easy, providing you're willing to do a little work. All exams are open book and quizzes are take home/online. The only downside is the blogs, which are rather tedious. He is also very disorganized.
I went through this class using only one textbook. I felt that it was an unnecessary buy considering his notes are exactly the same as his book ($$$. Unorganized. Vague. Easy quizzes. A nice person but a not so good professor.

This Professor is all over the place, mixes up his classes. I heard the same lecture nearly three times. Not organized, and class attendance dropped to 25%. Most people did not bother coming. He was easy but work load was crazy. He also makes you buy 4 books (two his own). So in that case very costly, upward of $200 for this course.
Great Prof! Very interactive classes, a lot of class discussions, and group work. Stay on top of assignments and the quizes/exams will be simple!
Definitely need to be into sociology before taking his class due to his lack of organization you'll need to build on what you learn in his class because there is always something missing. However, material is super easy and he is very helpful, ask for help and suggest a solution and you have it! Charles isn't for everyone, he tries very hard though
Charles is one of the best profs. He gives out a reasonable amount of work, but you have a long before most of them are due. He is a very good marker and understanding when it comes to mistakes. I did very well in his class just by following along with the class and notes. Also his exams are simple and very clear.
GPA BOOSTER!! Really easy course/prof. Took him for 3 courses as he's extremely easy. Has online blog that's really easy-although I don't think he's ever given anyone perfect on it. Exams are open book. Make sure you get his notes as the are exams are based on them. However he's really disorganized, and don't take him if you actually want to learn
He's super easy and kind of funny, but his lectures are super boring. He's pretty disorganized and often doesn't really know what's going on in his own classroom.... We had to explain several things to him throughout the semester. If you like hearing about Ghana and want to know all the details of his life story.... Take this class.
While Charles is very passionate about his work, I have NEVER experienced such confusion with a prof before due to his lack of clarity & direction. Charles is unbelievably unorganized, often arrived late & could never give a straight answer when asked about assignments. I will be avoiding all classes with Charles in the future.
Very boring teacher. Narcissistic tendencies (two required books are his own!). Class wasn't awful, but he was no more skilled to teach it than the next person. Skip this professor or you'll be fighting the urge to skip class.
Very easy class but horrible prof. Makes you do a lot of assignments and gives you 100% without evening reading them. Also makes you fundraise money for Ghana and the more money u raise, the higher your grade. The midterm and final are online and super easy. This class is a GPA booster but there is a lot of work to be put in.
While Dr. Charles is one of the nicest professors I have had at Kwantlen, that's about where the positives end. His class will leave you scratching your head at what your assignment is as he is often vague and unclear. Lectures are often very boring and you will leave the class not having learned much, if anything.
Charles is a very nice and passionate teacher, he has such a positive outlook. His quizzes and tests are also OPEN BOOK. As long as you do the work and put some effort in you will get an A easily. However, some of his instructions weren't very clear and he was at times disorganized and long boring lectures.
$125 for text books, 21 page research paper, no clear instructions. Too indepth for an introduction class.
Dr. Charles is one of the nicest profs in this school. He respects everybody in the Classroom and will not judge you, because you and I are learning right? Also, Charles is happy to help if you have any concerns with the coursework. I just dont get why say hes a hard prof? He gives us a study guide for each quiz and assignment beforehand.
Charles is a kind hearted person and very well educated. However, his application of english is often obstructive of the course. His insight from his culture is incredibly useful and well applied but he seems very disorganized and unprofessional. assignments were not clear and questions were missing MC answers on exams.
January semester 2019, easy mid and final exam. Only lectures are heavy and boring but attendance is not mandatory. I recommend this professor to international students who want to get good grades.
The final and mid term were super easy. He gives a review and goes over it before the exams. The review is basically the exams. He is very unorganized to the point where the whole class was constantly confused and if you try to clarify he gets upset . Nothing is clear. You learn alot about Ghana and not so much about sociology.

Although he's an easy marker, I was emailing him for clarification on assignments and exams in which he'd email me back not responding to my questions and telling me to post on the class forum instead where I received no response on there either. Very frustrating class, I do not recommend. He also makes you buy his textbook but only use 2 chapters.
Charles although might mean well, is extremely unorganized and not a professor Id recommend. The amount of times Ive tried to contact him with no response is ridiculous. He does not explain assignments or exams well. I do not recommend taking one of his classes
The class started very slow and ended with 2 group projects and a journal assignment all due within the last few weeks. Very unclear instructions for assignments and exams. The final exam consisted of M/C and 8 essay questions with only 2 hours to do the exam. I do not recommend this class.
Charles required us to have 2 textbooks, one of which did not come in until almost the end of the semester. We were still expected to buy it ($105) even though we would only be using it for one final exam. He left early, arrived late or did not show up with no warning. He gives little feedback on your assignments, & is frustrating to deal with.
Easy marks and he's friendly but the course has heavy workload for basically nothing. He is EXTREMELY disorganized, his syllabus and grading criteria's isn't clear and has most of the due dates are incorrect. All he talks about is Ghana. makes you buy 2 textbooks that are barely used. Don't take this course unless you need it.
he can be very lazy at work. He gave my friends and i the same grades in all Homeworks and even on the final test.
Charles was very caring and approachable. His class was very easy as he grades assignments quickly and honestly probably didn't read them. Half the class left during the break and he didn't much care. Was a bit unorganized and ended up cancelling our group presentation due to scheduling error but makes up for it with his light and humorous attitude
Excellent course and very experienced professor. He teaches with real examples; hes is always responsive. He grades fair and helps student learn. His projects are based on real documented events and programs. He is good asset for the university and the sociology field.
