enjoyed the class didn't sleep :P
Kept the lectures easy to understand and made jokes to keep the class fun.
He doesn't answer your questions very well or at all, but he's fairly funny and easy. He lectures as if he memorized the book- using uncommon words, lol... but I got a kick out of it, I think you will too.
best teacher i have ever had.
This instructor gives great lectures! Very entertaining and fun classes. I would recommend him!
The lectures were entertaining and easy to understand. He also makes a lot of jokes in class. The tests though don't relate very muchto the book or what is taught in class. Overall I would recommend him. :)
Terribly boring. He insists on attendance, but tests are right out of the book, so his lectures are a total waste of time. Tests aren't very hard, if you do the reading
he had very joke in class but it's hard to catch the point.i don't recommand him for international student because he speaks very fast and terrible handwriting
He never clearly states a point and gives more work than any class ever should be
yes, his lectures are a waste of time, but that's besides the point. all you have to do in his class is read the damn text! his exams are sentences pulled right out of it. make sure you dont skip the little charts in text either, some are on the exams
Sorry but he is so ****. I took his class about two years ago. I hope he has changed his ways. Hos lectures are a waste of time. His test are nothing like the lectures, exactly out of book. But you have to attend his lectures if you want an A.
He's really funny. All the test questions are out of the book, but you should go to the lectures because sometimes he adds little things that he mentioned on the test. But if you need help just go up to him, he is more than welcome to help.
He's a funny teacher. But i'd have to say, you have to read to get an A in that class. i didn't read at all and passed with a C. tests are long too. But he seems to enjoy what he does, so his class is fun sometimes.
His classes are really entertaining. However, his exams are hard if you don't read the textbook. A lot of his questions on the exams are straight from the textbook website. His material doesn't exactly teach psychology, but it illuminates it.
He is so hot and funny. If you do all of your reading and attend lecture you'll probably end up with an A. His curve rules. He rules. I love this professor
he is really funny-if you read the text you'll do well on the exams-he grades on a curve-that helped me alot.
DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS...TESTS ARE VERY HARD. WENT EVERYDAY AND GOT NOTHING OUT OF THE CLASS, EXCEPT FOR A D
he is funny~ if u want, he can teach u a lot of stuff. but he like to use those big words in class~ As u enjoy his joke during the class, don't forget to study~ his test is not funny as his class attitude!
this professor was awesome! his test are very easy and straight out from the book.
he's pretty funny, but his tests are pretty hard (going to all his lectures, and reading each chapter got me c's and b's on his tests)
he sucks. he doesnt teach well and he doesnt help u at all even when u have questions. he'll just say Oh look in the reading. hecka ghetto teacher. DONT TAKE HIM
Awsome teacher, very funny. His constant motivation towards the subject has made me seriously consider become a psych. major. Take him only if you want to be challenged and are serious about devoting lots of study time to this class.
great teacher! i didn't think i could be so interested in psych for one straight hour but he made it very appealing. very very funny too!
this teacher is awesome.. funny as hell and you'll learn alot. my friends and I have taken him every time we've taken a psych class and havent regreted it. granted his tests are hard, but its "college"... get over it
He's a funny and great teacher. You need to do the reading and if you use the online lan that goes with the book you should do okay. Listen and take notes on the lecture. Tests are super hard.
well i had a lot of fun in his class because hes funny and interesting but hes a hard teacher i have to admit. and also his tests are hard. if you atleast try you will get a c and if you study really really hard maybe you'll get an A
This guy is entertaining, but not an easy A. His tests are hard, and there is a lot of reading involved if you want a decent grade. Don't be late for class, he'll humiliate you in front of the entire lecture hall. I've seen it happen.
I have studied psychology with Dr. Ramskov for over a year now, and I couldn't think of a more outstanding instructor (but you do need to be serious about your work!) Not for the timid, but all others pale in his coverage of the material.
This is without a doubt the "Best Psych Instructor in the Solar System!". You will not find a more multi-dimensional classroom personality. A fast-paced, entertaining, and back-busting experience.Easy 'A'? Nope. Lotta learnin'? Yep. No w
Oh man, what a mistake taking him. I'm a psych major but he almost made me reconsider! I didn't get anything out of that class except a good nap.
Arrogant, and very hard to please. Extremely anal about things, and extremely hard to get through his class with a decent grade.
Hey, I am tellin ya. He is the easiest teacher out there. Ok. The tests look hard. But they are not. The fact that thay are pretty long (80-90questions) overwhelms some people. but if you read the bokk you will be fine. Take him for an easy A and learn.
He is a very hard teacher to learn from. He will tend to get side tracked on the lactures. Alot of what we take notes on is not on the test, Read the book. He is funny, he is very smart, just ask him...he will tell you!
he'ss really funny, keeps the class alive. goes through leacture somewhat fast, and doesn't have much time to help but is willing when you catch him. read book and test will be easy, they're long though, but no homework, and x-tra credit opportunities
Dr. Ramskov is the best, I would take any class with him. He inspired me so much to continue at SJSU...I learned so much from Psychology 2 and 3, it was as if I slept/ate/dreamed of and only talked about Psychology...no other better way to learn
Stop wining! He is not hard at all, and he is very understanding.I took him for dist learning and got an A easily even though i took all my Exams late. Very human, which is rare for teachers
He was hard to learn from, he never left over heads up long enough for any one to see. The tests were all from the books and you have to memorize everything.
The BEST psych teacher at De Anza
Ramskov is the coolest teacher around. He is the reason why I am a psych major. His personality and intelligence make him the ideal professor. If I could take him for every class, I would. He was a student here so he knows whats up.
Mr. Ramskov is the coolest teacher around .He is very undertanding guy who would help his student to be sucessful .I recommend that you should take him for psyc 1
Buy the book + follow study guide = A. He likes to use big words and hear himself talk. Other than that he's fun. Just don't expect much help after class.
exams are very easy, funny lectures and jokes, learn a lot, I recommend you to take him
RECOMMENDED one of my favorite teachers are De Anza. Funny and interesting lectures tests aren't super easy but if you do the reading you are set. Psych 2 and 3 are just hard classes with a lot of work but he is a good teacher all around.
Not an easy class, but if you do the reading and study then it makes a big difference. Really funny guy with interesting lectures. Not helpful after class, though.
Even though I was into psychology, his class was 1 of the hardest. I didn't get much of his lectures, so I didnt laugh at any of his jokes. Tests were way too long w/ not enough time
Inappropriate & unprofessional. Some students are fooled into thinking he's intelligent by the big words he uses out of place. Condescending & belittling especially to ESL students. Most of his crappy jokes are **** & ****. Age appropriate at 15 yrs.
Very informative class. I like the book. He is really fun. His test are hard. If you attend the class, take note and read the book you'll do just fine. I highly recomend him.
VERY funny teacher. His class is only hard because of its content...psych isn't an easy subject to begin with. His tests get progessively harder but are fun, none the less. The class is extremely intersting and cool Extra Credit opportunities are available for everyone :)
I took his online class during the summer. He's a nice guy but grades hard. Not easy to get a good grade even with extra credit. Exams are long and hard, not enough time to finish. Don't recommend psych during summer or online.
If you like taking long tests (a hundred so questions in 40 minuntes) go for it. His tests are literally packets of pages. He side tracks during class. Sometimes doesn't make sense. Uses big words to discourage students. Average grades for tests are c's. Seriously. Recc. not take this class.
this teacher is a jerk! he cuts u off... walks away as you ask him somethin...oh yes unless ur a guy he'll probably listen to u from what i've noticed. also if ur a pretty girl hell probably be nice to u. and if you go to his office hr...don't xpect 2get much help...averege class, not 2easy, not 2ha
this guy is absolutely funny but hard as hell to understand when he is actually trying to be serious. material is straight out of the book. the test are hard but the practice tests he hands out are very helpful. if you mainly learn from lectures and not reading, dont take this class
Aside from being absolutely hilarious, he's also a great teacher. You'd rather listen to him than read the book.
Ramskov does go off on tangents quite a bit while lecturing. However, he is very knowledgeable and has a superb vocab to boot. Yes he uses big words -which are in the proper context- but this is college, people. Lectures alone won't get you an A, but read the text, which is very good by the way.
he makes lectures bareable and made psych really interesting to me. the tests are fair but he only gives you background information in class. read the book....u will do a lot better on the tests that way!
hella funny guy. i liked the class. not too hard. i got a B and only used the book a few times. i did come to class all the time though. and one extra credit at nasa, which was fun. i'd recommend him.
He is one of those teachers that changes your life...at least that's what he did for me. He is very funny and very kind and I want to take every class he teaches. Psychology is my major anyhow. And the reason for that is that Dr. Ramskov got me interested in it. I really reccomend him to everybody.
Don't take his Distance Learning class (he uses one textbook for his regular class, and use another book in the DL). Even though you follow his study guides in , what you see is NOT what you got in your tests. This is the only course I am getting fairly bad grade so far in 2 years.
HES VERY FUN...But his test are really haerd
Ramskov is awsome. He is one of the funniest guys ever. I got an A and I only opened the book 3 times. Just study exactly whats on the study guide and it's an easy A. Lots of extra credit(which i didn't do). He's really hot and so is his T.A.(nicknamed Dr. Phil). Take Ramskov. He's great.
His lectures are interesting/funny and he writes stuff out.Not a bad teacher in that respect (he didn't like me and I still made an A) Seemed to go out of his way to embarrass people in front of class and I can't stand that, therefore I personally wouldn't take him again.
Ramskov is a cool teacher. I had him for Psych 1 and it's nice to have him in a class with less than 300 people in it. He's funny, teaches well, speaks intelligently, and a cute smile to boot. Highly recommended for Abnormal Psych (especially if you liked dabbling into it in General Psych).
He seems like a cool guy, but his class is boring, all he shows is videos! i also dont like that when u ask a question he acts like he doesnt know what ur talking about. he fidgets alot too, sometimes i think hes putting on an act cuz hes kinda abnormal himself...
Yeah, the classes are actually hard--while he may make it seem light and easy, the tests are not. Great teacher though, no regrets here!
Tests are hard, you think you have everything from the notes taken in class but you dont. You need the book! He thinks hes hilarious,& kinda goes off subject.I feel sorry for Phil(TA)because he constantly interrupts his lectures & bags on him. Ramskov is smart but I think he is the one with problems
This was an easy class! He's a really funny teacher. He gave us the exam essay questions before hand and a take home mutiple choice exam that came straight from the book. There's no way you can fail this class.
Ramskov is awesome. His tests were hard but he definitely makes up for it by making class interesting. Just make sure to study and you'll do fine on the tests.
Ramskov seems like a great guy, he's really funny and his lectures are interesting. I want to take AbPsych with him!
the tests are hard if u dont study, lots of videos, and some activities, hes a good teacher, just be ready to study hard before the tests! He might be reading this, and at one time was considered a "hot" chili pepper on this site; which he mentioned in class. lol so ladies, dont be fooled, hes cute?
Great teacher; makes material interesting and can be fun - though sometimes he looks as if he is ANALYZING a student when they are conversing. Lot of material to cover and you definately need to do your study outside of class. Grades fairly if not generously. I still respect the guy immensely.

ramskov is cool! his class is really interesting and he likes to make a lot of jokes. Make sure to take lots of notes and to study very hard cuz his tests can be hard.Ramskov also give you opportunities to do extra credits if you're not doing so well. he also grades on a curve.so have fun!
i hate his class! itz borin...and his test are super hard! you have 2 read the book and i dont tink the notes we take in class is in the test at all..yea he tinks he is funnie..but not.. i failed his class! err

Very unfair teacher. Uses certain words to discourage students. Boring lectures. Gets off topic. Test are literally packets with tons of questions. Never enough time to complete the test. Does not grade on a curve. Average grade in his forum class is a C. If all you do is study 24/7 & have no social life, take his class. : (

Don't bother taking notes, they won't make any sense. Just use the study guide before the test and you'll do okay. This man is odd. He doesn't make any sense most of the time.
I love this prof! so cool and so funny!
Ramskov was my favorite psych teacher at De Anza. No, he is not easy but he teaches you a lot and makes it very interesting. If you pay attention well, take notes like crazy and read the important stuff in the book then you should do fine. :)
What an awsome teacher! I wish all my teachers were like him :D. As long as you attend class do the reading and take notes in class the exams are a piece of cake and if you need help, hes there to help you out.
HUGE class, but he made it fun and interesting. accessible, helpful, and i like his scarf. people who graded him poorly, are the same ones uninterested in psych in the first place
His Psych 2 class was a great class. His tests were quite hard but he allowed re dos. There was a lot of group work in the class and we also worked with live animals (which you have to take home at the end of the quarter). If you enjoy a challenge this class is for you. He is not an easy A.
Be careful of the exams though as it can be tricky.
Ramskov is a kick keeps the class interesting but you have to do the reading.
This guy is hillarious! He makes the subject matter even more interesting with his funny stories that he sometimes relates it to. He's pretty straight to the point. No busy work, which is awesome. Exams are easy if you study. I got a B and I barely ever read. Great class, awesome professor.
i cant see how anyone would ever badmouth this guy.HE IS AWESOME!do the rdg and understand it, ask questions and for help, and you'll be fine.he is funny, smart, sophisticated, not too biased, and his class is entertaining and interesting. he never wastes class time unless he's talking about something off topic that yet still relates to psychology
do not take his class!! i was really interested in psychology, but he totally changed my mind. he does not know how to teach at all. he is so random in his lectures and it is hard for him to stay on the subject. the book is better than his notes. i don't recommend him.
He chose a good book for my class, but its hard to ask him questions becuase he is extrmemely busy. His handwriting is hard to fallow, but hes not boring.
really boooooring and kinda hard. he gets sidetracked easily. jokes arent funny. not recommended
This guy is funny. Class was interesting, cand chill . THe only thing is with this class, its a little more do it yourself read the book. But for tests, he gives reviews, and gives extra credit. I REALLY LOVED THIS CLASS :D
I passed this class with an A because I read the book and studied the study guide. That is the only way you'll pass this class. It's hard to read his hand writing and understand his lectures, but he's a funny but smart professor. So the advice that I give anyone planning to take this class is to read and extra credit.
Lazy, arrogant instructor who inappropiately flirts with pretty girls and has definite favorites. Handwriting atrocious, doesn't show up for appointments with students. Lectures are very tangential--it's clear he's winging it. He doesn't deserve to be a teacher.
I took it online, if you study like crazy, and do all of the extra credit you can pass the class. He is arrogant though, and not very understanging, he clearly has favorites and can be mean. But once again, if you just study the book inside and out, you will pass. I got a B, and i usually test really badly.
He means well, but he wastes class time trying to tell stories and be funny, so he ends up not teaching that much. You have to do A LOT of studying on your own to make up for what he doesn't cover in class. Also the exams are pretty difficult but you can do up to 30 points of extra credit to make up for bad test scores.
If you are not an idiot, and actually want to learn, keep your mind functioning, take this professor. College is about working on your own, not being pansied by high school teachers! He understands that. He makes it very clear what is on the exam...if you listen!
I took his distance class therefore I can't exactly comment on his helpfulness and clarity. I have to say his distance class is a tad harder than other distance classes. Don't expect to come out with an A by just reading the book, you need to drill yourself and review. A lecture class probably would've been more enlightening.
I don't understand how he is getting bad reviews. I loved this teacher! He is one of my favorites! Show up to class and do a little extra reading and you should be fine. The class is based on three exams including the final. He also gives you practice tests and there is 30 points of extra credit available. Take him!
he was funny and kept the class entertained. he was clear and concise with his lectures.
Ramskov is a really good guy. His class is very entertaining, but you really do need to do a lot of review on your own because the class often goes off on tangents. If you write down everything he puts on the board and study it, this provides the core information necessary for the midterms.
If you read the chapters and do the study guide, you'll get an A. With over 40 pts of extra credit this quarter, there's no reason why you would get lower than an A unless you slack off. He even gives you some of the answers to his exams and quizzes. Highly recommend taking his class.
Ramskov is my favorite professor at De Anza so far! There is almost no homework, and the study guides are fabulous! I never bought the textbook, just used online companion site & his study guides, got an A & B+ on both exams and an A on the final... Hes a great teacher but hes not going to pass the class for you.. Dunno why people complain...
He was quite possibly the worst teacher I have ever had. He can talk about absolutely nothing for a whole class and then give you a super hard test.He has horrible hand writing and doesnt explain things well. Very unorginized! From what I've heard fron others, there are way better psych teachers out there. I definitely dont recomend him.
Funny guy Likes to tell anecdotes. If you're interested in Clinical/abnormal/cognitive Psychology - good. NOT a class for the slacker. The work is honest, but as long as you understand and make an honest attempt, you can get by on grades. Tests are all multiple choice, based on Reading and Lecture Notes. PHD. helpful outside of classroom. Enjoyed.
Dont take this class. His lectures are not helpful on the test. Nothing he teaches really helps for the midterm and the final, which are your over all grade. Although he provides extra credit, its still impossible to get a good grade, only way is if youre read the book several times.
i took him to abnormal psych and it was actually pretty fun in that class... one of my favorite teachers there... funny anecdotes pretty much everyday which made it fun to be in that class... plus you dont really need the book cuz i passed no problem
Entertaining lectures - but he expects students to behave like students - take notes, stay awake, pay attention - duh! Off-topic comments usually entertain or make material stick in your head. Tests were pretty easy if you studied. Extra credit was bonus!
Grab some 3x5s and take notes from the book, be consistent, and study the notes regularly. If you can keep up with the book, you'll definitely keep up with the lecture content. The lecture can be fun sometimes, but mostly unecessary, it's all in the textbook.
i don't recommend him.Lazy , talking about everything , but not teaching. His handwriting is horrible. He is no good,he is unpleasant.Exams are really hard.

He offered about 40`~50 points of extra credit ... *Only max of 300 points in the class* A funny guy though ... hard to fall asleep in that class, you do have to read the book, but he does hand out a very detailed study guide before each test *it saved me* ... Graded on 3 test, a small paper, and extra credit ... I liked it =D
This is a fun and interesting class, and not at all hard as long as you read and study from the book before each test. His study sheets tell you exactly what you will be tested on. I agree that his lectures are a little bit disorganized, but still very entertaining to listen to. Lots of extra credit opportunities if you need it.
bad teacher that i never saw before , because his lecture was bored and unorganized . moreover , he was very lazy when i asked him about my grade but he did not answer and grade it yet. HIGHLY RECOMMEND DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS
tries to intimidate students with vocabulary that is advanced, but highly unnecessary in class. doesn't care if you pass.he once said "two kids got A's on the exam. that's never happened before. it means the test was too easy" shows how much he actually cares about students doing well. the final had questions we had not even covered
I will be COMPLETELY honest here. His lectures are so unorganized, handwriting is not legible. his exams are RIDICULOUSLY HARD. The extra credit, I don't think he grades them, because my friend that did every one of them including NASA still got a D. JUST DON'T TAKE HIM, he thinks he's a good teacher, but his students know the truth.
An interesting fellow. Has some strange ideas about the relationships between parents and offspring, but on the whole he tries to show balanced perspectives. A very name & date kinda guy, and if you take him, have a good memory, because he is prone to story wandering.
Okay teacher. Comes off as arrogant though and likes to hear himself talk. Goes off on wild tangents during lecture which is good for people who like to zone out. Got off track so piled on the work at the end of the quarter which sucked. Tests are short answer but he tells you every question that will be on the test. Easy A but a lot of work.
His class isn't that hard. There are a lot of writing, but they are easy and he lets you turn it in late and you'll still get full credit for it. He lets you redo the midterms, listen to his lectures and you'll do well on his midterms. He goes over the midterm and let you know what is exactly on the test. Pretty cool guy.
Ramskov is a very scatter brained teacher. In this class it seems as if you have to hang on his every word to even get close to passing. Hes a funny teacher but dont let that fool you.He will throw all kinds of things on the test that you didnt even go over in class. If you want a chance at passing I suggest you keep your nose in the book. Good luc
omg....this professor is ridiculous. why did i take him? ahdslsf hard test, messy hand writing, goes off topic, ALOT, hard to follow with his lectures. but i guess...hes funny? ajfdskajf
He's the best!!!
He is a very funny teacher. It is true that his lectures will not help you a lot on his tests but as long as you read the book, take notes, attend class, do extra credit, you will be garanteed an A in his class. He gives you A LOT!!! of extra credit so it's kind of hard not to get an A in his class. I highly recommend this teacher.
His lectures go off topic, as he tends to tell personal stories that he believes are relevant but really aren't, but that's ok cos all the tests come from the book and he gives practice tests that are almost exactly the same as the real one, so if you do the practice ones you will get an A on the actual. Almost no homework. He's funny too.
Ok so Ramskov does go off topic, but if you take good notes on the lectures and follow along with the textbook you will do just fine. vocabulary and terms are important to memorize. there is a lot of memorization of facts and terms. he's funny and can be quirky. the general information from the class was totally helpful and interesting.
Ramskov grades on a curve. He also puts random reading questions from the textbook into the exams. Unless you don't mind settling for a B or less, or you are a really good test taker, you might not want to take this class if you want to go for the A. On the other hand, he does teach and he knows alot about the subject, so it helps.
Really enjoyed how Ramskov would add random funny anecdotes to keep the class fun! Gradewise, definitely take advantage of the extra credit-even if you average a B on tests, w/extra credit you can easily get an A. In general, I thought he was a great teacher, who in a way "illuminated" psych during his lectures as opposed to straightforward teaching
LOVED his class. GREAT teacher. Flippin' genius. Still think of him years after taking the course. 'Might wanna take another more-advanced course sometime (I took intro). Taught me a lot. Came in to class in a good mood, spoke tremendously well, kept interest. My favorite teacher ever.
Didn't really enjoy this class; a lot of the work felt useless. Used textbooks well but the experiments we did felt meaningless. Class was confusing and often interesting, but mostly irrelevant to tests. Homework was easy. Had a cool field trip to UC Santa Cruz.
He loves his subject-- hence he talks very fast and gets very pumped up. He uses a lot of examples when trying to explain a topic or theory.. etc. His test are ridiculous: 80-85 multiple choice questions (which are a-e) in 50 minutes. But he gives you a list of words and concepts that will be on the test and how many of each you should expect.
I knew I wanted to be a psychologist. He made me realize why.
Don't be fooled by an "easy" or "hard" test given by Dr. Ramskov. The curve will always be the same way: a few A's, a few B's, and the vast majority: C's. If you want to do well in his class, do every point of extra credit that he offers! In my case, I was lucky, and the extra credit was just enough for an A. However, I stress that I was a lucky 1
Do the extra credit early. He usually only gives 10-15 A's on each test. It is unbelievably helpful to go to the study sessions, he literally gives some answers and which questions are on the test. Test questions, random hw assignments, random quizzes are incentives to go to class, don't let him see you texting. Knowledgeable, good jokes sometimes.
I took this as my first Distance Learning class & it was okay. You have to pay attention to the videos and read a bunch but thats the point of distance learning, it's self-learn which I knew so I did pretty well. Just plan your time accordingly.. If you can't keep up with the reading/lectures then you'll do bad in this class.
USE MYPSYCH LAB. It's EXTREMELY helpful! The reason why i got A's on all of the tests was because of it!!! It's an interesting class. He's kind of a jerk though. I asked him a question just for clarification and he accused me of never going to class even though I never missed a single class. Be sure to read the book though!
Took this class on-line. Easy class if you study and read the book. You also have to go to his reviews before each test. That was really helpful. Nice guy, funny.
One of the very best teachers I've ever had, and my mentor. He encouraged me to continue in my scholastic career when I didn't think I could do it. I owe him a LOT for helping me on my way. You HAVE to do the work in his class, come to class, and read the book. He's extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He has a wicked sense of humor too.
Really great teacher. Took it as Distance Learning, you have to read a lot, but the material is not hard and very interesting. Review sessions are fun, very witty guy!
He is a cocky and arrogant professor. Not very helpful, tends to blow you off unless you come to his office hour. In his defense he is the department head so he is busy. His lectures aren't helpful on the tests. However he give practice exams that are really helpful on the tests. Make sure to do all the extra credit!
Great teacher. He is hilarious. If you show up to class and read the text you will do well on the exams. Use his practice exams to your benefit they are extremely helpful. I think he is one of the best teachers at De Anza.
I have a friend who's missed 2 week of his class, and he ended up getting a B+ in his class. Ramskov, PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROLL SHEET!! all his exams are based on his lecture. He'll tend to lash out on you when he has a bad day, and i dont like how he looks at you, like he's examining you with no respect. (typical psychologist)
interesting course and interesting person. teaches psyc 1, 2, and 3 so take him when you can if you want but read the books to be prepared
Frankly, another narcissist. He often finds students he doesnt like in class and tries his best to humiliate them. Unfair grader as well. I say this even though I got an A in his class. I would not have wasted a quarter with him if I had known before hand what kind of person he is.
Pretty funny guy and knows the material. But, outside of class he tends to get annoyed by students asking him questions or asking for help. The class is pretty easy as long as you keep up with the reading.
READ THE BOOK. Take notes from the book. Do the extra credit. Study. Do these things and you will get an A. He has a dry sense of humor, which I liked. He gives you study guides and answers to test questions in the reviews. Grades on curve but I'm old and I got an A, so it can't be THAT hard. I plan on taking him again.
i had him for distance learning for general psych. i'm going to be a junior(in high school) next year but i think the course is pretty easy. sure it takes time to study all that material but it was worth it when i got an A. :) the majority of the class got Cs though...
very self-obsessed. makes no sense 90% of the time, uses unnecessary vocabulary ALL THE TIME, inconsistent, scattered, doesn't pay any attention to his students unless he's in the mood, writes everyone off as a slacker, picks people out of class and chews them out, funny and likes the subject matter, but again, is very egotistical.
tests are really easy. Says exactly what is goingn to be on them.
I have no idea why so many people here don't like this guy. The only reason I can understand is they were the people he picked on or they are stupid. This guy was hella funny, very interesting, and is probably one of my favorite teachers I ever had. Just read the book and you are good. I'd like to blaze bud with him, ha.
Personally, I loved this class. Ramskov really knows what he is talking about, but doesn't boast about his degrees as other professors at deanza do. Always refers to the text, but I still did well without opening it at all. Majority of class got Cs, but if you pay attention and show up, you'll do fine. Barely any homework, tests are easy.
Took this class over the summer for fun and absolutely loved it. Ramskov tells the funniest stories and is very passionate. I cant believe all of these complainers on here, they are probably in the 8 year AA degree program. At a real college classes are way harder than this and they give no extra credit. Bottom line, do the reading and go to lectur
This teacher has the best sense of humor ever. He knows what he's talking about and hardly ever uses the textbook.. i took psych1 my first quarter in college and never even had to buy the book! and i still got an A-. He gives you everything you need to know AND a practice test( half of the ?s are usually on the regular exam). i highly recommend him
Attending the class was a waste of time for me. I've never learned anything from him based on his lectures. However, I learned some stuff directly from the book. So, if you want to learn, well, you basically need to have a large amt of TIME 4 this class. That's why if u have the chance to back off, you better do so because this cls will ruin ur GPA
Nice professor. He makes you LOL everyday and sometimes ROFL. Here's the formula to ace his class: read the textbook or the note package + extra credit (just do 5 article reports + 2 movie reviews) = ace fasho. Buy the note package (20 something) instead of the txtbook.Read everything in there and comprehend. He even tells you what'll be on the tes
Learn from the Master. Complainers are immature. Put in the time, do all extra credit, do it well, dont skimp. Ramskov has dedicated his life to teaching you- take advantage of this, life is give and take.
Very little homework and he tells you EVERYTHING that is going to be on the test, he will stop in the middle of a lecture and say this is a test question and give you the answer. He sends out practice tests and offers a lot of extra credit. He loves making fun of people which is why I think people don?t like him. Its NOT a hard class.
Ramskov loves De Anza and cares about his students. Offers multipule extra credit assignments, sends you practice exams and goes through test questions the day before every exam. He also holds a couple study sesions before tests. hard to fail his class
At first impression, he's full of himself. But as time went by, he shows you how knowledgeable and experienced he truly is. He has a sharp wit and bold sense of humor. He respects good students, and HATES bad/lazy/apathetic/druggy students. Those who rated him poorly, are the students who Ramskov humiliated in class. They're on the 8year AA plan.
Extremely punctual with returning test scores, updating about extra credit, and assigning hw. Overall pretty entertaining class, the tests require reading from the book, but with the practice test it's easy.
Good lecturer. The notes you take are as valuable as the book. Tests were clear. Reaching during office hours was difficult, and some students seemed to get first attention. There is an arrogance about this guy, but the information he transmits makes the class worth taking.
Useless. Immature. Incomprehensible. Disorganized. Unapproachable. Terrible. Extremely frustrating trying to figure out what he wants you to know for the exams. I will never take a community college class again. If you actually want to learn psychology, get into a different professor's class.
Dr. Ramskov is a great teacher. Absolutely great! Really smart, witty, but a bit of an ego. He loves to share his stories and kind of ignores what you have to say sometimes. Overally though, I thought he was great! Ample extra credit, semi-hard tests, but lectures were fun!
Going to lectures isn't a chore because Ramskov tells hella interesting stories during class. Aren't exactly relevent or useful, but still, interesting. Basically you need to read every single chapter assigned in the book otherwise you will not do well on the exams. I read all the chapters he assigned and got an A in the class. Read or fail.
Love Ramskov! His tests can be a little lengthy and seem overwhelming, but as long as you study, you'll be fine. You need the book only sometimes, usually it's just to collect whatever he forgot in class. He always tells cool stories during lecture, but he is a little self obsessed which can be annoying sometimes. But overall, a very good class!
Punctual & Organized; Relevant & Funny examples; minimal HW; Few quizzes; Easy Grader (uses curve); Enough extra credit to raise by 1-2 letter grades; Excellent use of visual aids. He expects you to WANT to learn, "Act like a student; take notes. I've got my eye on you". You should get a C bare minimum if you show up everyday put in some effort.
He came off very intimidating to me in the beginning, and even though it was the most challenging of my other two classes at the time, I learned a lot and am very glad I took him. Lectures were always entraining and he likes to tell interesting and hilarious stories. READ AND STUDY the book! FLASHCARDS! Honestly, that's how i got A's on the exams (
Great professor! He has very engaging lectures, very versed in psychology and is guaranteed to make you laugh. His exams are medium in terms of difficulty, but will be easy if you study. He is not very personable, but that's just his style. Put you phone away and don't be late! all things considered a highly recommended professor.
Funny, engaging, and provides all the materials you need to succeed. Practice tests, study guides (emailed directly to you) and online assistance are all at your service while taking this class. His tests essentially repeat information from these sources, so by using them you can't possibly go wrong.
i don't understand why he has a horrible rating. he gives you 80% of the test (many are from the practice test he gives out for each chapter) AND he curves the scores so much. you can miss almost 20 questions of the 85 and get an A on the test. the class is TOO easy. he has lots of stories and he's an overall great guy... DON'T BE LATE!
IF YOU CAN'T PASS THIS CLASS WITH AAN A, I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU AND YOU SHOULDN'T BE IN SCHOOL. HE CURVES EVERYTHING TO THE MAX SO...
Engaging, interesting material. The class is not easy, but you WILL learn psychology. Take him if you're seriously interested. If you're looking for a slacker class, look elsewhere. If you read the material and study, you will will earn the grade you deserve. It's simple. He won't show interest in your grade if you don't. Tons of extra credit.
don't take him unless you already know psychology. he treats students like high school kids. you won't learn psychology with him as a teacher. and he really isn't all that funny.
It's really hard to describe how I feel about his class. I really enjoyed it yet he leaves something to be desired. Still I recommend his class. You will learn a lot though I do gotta say he needs to slow down significantly. A great teacher nevertheless
AMAZING PROFESSOR!!!! HE'S HILARIOUS AND HE REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF. HE'S PASSIONATE ABOUT PSYCHOLOGY AND I LOVE HIM! BEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD, HE'S THE REASON I'M CHANGING MY MAJOR :) THANK YOU DR. RAMSKOV! OH AND EAST A FOR THOSE WONDERING LOL
to the few that are making fun of ppl who didnt get an A, grow up. ramskov is funny but he makes fun of a lot of ppl, he asked this asian guy if he spoke english and embarssed him in front of a class of 150. he goes way too fast and uses really big words in every sentence.
He completely humiliated a group of students presenting their article in class. Keep in mind this is a presentation that is already nerve-wracking & he kept interrupting them telling them to enunciate better, ect., clearly getting a kick out of their discomfort bc he was in a bad mood. He has NO compassion as a human being. Everyone hates him.
Great prof but you'd need some real effort. He talks fast and sometimes not very concentrate on the lessons so READ TEXTBOOK before and after class. He's very helpful. Tests and quizzes are informed but NOT EASY, and he CURVES so you'd need to be the best 10-12% to get A... I'd recommend him to students wanna learn some Psyc.
Ramskov is cool and funny sometimes he goes a little bit too far with his jokes but he'll make you laugh everyday. He got cool stories but lectures are largely dry and boring. I guess it can't be help. It's psych. He provides extra credits; take advantage of it. I did the articles. Reading the book is essential, easy A you shall procure.
Look if you cant get at least a B in this guys class, you must have a chaotic life on the outside that prevents your success. He does everything short of handing you the test!!!! Great teacher, good sense of humor but still discplined. Highly recommended.
Hardest class i have ever taken! You do a few presentations, get ready to be interrupted by his questions if your material is not clearly presented. Ramskov is a great professor but you need to stay on top of your readings or you'll be completely lost all quarter. He doesn't use a powerpoint, and lectures aren't very organized. He's VERY sarcastic!
He is a good teacher and gives you a lot of interesting information, but FORGET about his practice tests, Only 20% of the questions in practice tests will match the real test and will include chapters you will never study in class. Focus on the STUDY GUIDE and his LECTURES. I enjoyed this class quite a bit, but get ready to study if you want an A
Overall, I would have to say that to guarantee an A in Ramskob's class, you NEED to read all/most of the assigned reading chapters. His lectures are pretty useless, but you still need to attend, because he gives quizzes, and actual test questions. I just finished his summer class, so it is a bit fast paced, but otherwise the class isn't too bad.
Professor Ramskov is one scary dude, he's funny but feared. Don't get caught using your phone, sleeping, not taking notes, or coming in late in his class, he likes to put people on blast. Lectures are super boring. You can get away with a C using only his Psych Notes. This class is not an easy A, warning you now!
Ramskov is very funny! Lots of extra credit options! Shows a lot of interesting videos too. Tends to put people on blast though (people who are late, caught texting, without notes out. etc) But overall, very supportive and easy class, Reading the textbook really helps!
His class is veary easy to get a A. What you should do just attend in the class, read his note. NO quizzes!!! and he will tell you some ans on the tests. If you want to get A, you must take his course.
Lots of extra credit! Great professor to learn from, meaning if you read the text and attend class you will get an A!!
His class is good. He will yell at you (I am an A student and an honors student and still I've been yelled at soooooo much) but he isn't trying to be mean. He will help you learn if you put forth the effort to come to class and read the book.
I took his psych 1 class and honestly if you show up to class everyday and spend a little bit of time studying for his exams you will get a B in the class. Its not that hard. Most people that take his class just dont want to show up to class or study for the exams. he gives you a practice exam and study guide for every one.
Incredibly great teacher. So much of what he talks about in that class is very interesting, and he's very passionate about it. I would even go so far to say that some of his lectures have been existential to me. But he will put you on the spot if you're late, not paying attention, talking too much. Do the work and you'll get a good grade.
Gives crazy amounts of EC, but if you study hard and read the book outside of his lectures, you'll get a passing grade with no problems. I enjoy all of his lectures even though sometimes he'll go off on a tangent. Showing up after 10 mins of class will result in him refusing you to attend class. Other than that, great professor.
Real college level lecturer and a Prof that will help you succeed. Passionate about Psych. He expects you to come to class and take notes. Read the book and his note packet and you will get a B at least.
i love this guy! great class. he's so engaging and he really loves his job.
Dr. Ramskov is a very fair teacher. I have him for PSCYH 1 over the summer and people only complain about him because they don't pull their own weight. He gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit, he's funny and his stories are interesting and relevant to what we're learning. His tests are not hard, you just need to use the study guide!
Ramskov is very passionate about Psychology. He tells you what you need to know for his exams but often goes off on tangents in his lectures. Don't be late to class or he will poke fun at you. He gives a lot of EC. Just go to class, do the EC, read the textbook, do the practice exams, and you will pass.
He doesn't like students to show up late and kicks them out if they are.So, My car broke down one day and i was rushing to get my car fixed so bad because i wanted to attend his class. when i opened the class door being 15 minutes late,he stopped lecturing to tell me "bye bye".I tried to explain myself but he interrupted me and said "bye bye" geez!
I took psych 1, 3, and 4 with Ramskov. Psych 1 & 4 aren't too bad. Great curve, easy to get an A or A+ if you put a reasonable amount of effort into the class (aka read the book you paid all that money for). Psych 1 was the class I enjoyed most with him. Psych 3 is tough. I got an A+ but I definitely put a lot of time and effort in to it.
Funny lectures, definitely kept us entertained :). He brought in hilarious personal stories and has a wonderful sense of humor -- take Psych 1 with him if you want to have a good time! :)
This teacher is passionate about psychology which makes him rude. His tests are not easy. Do not come late to his class he will call you out of infront of the whole class even though he is late every day.
Hard tests if you do not read the book assigned chapters. Lectures show knowledge with use of high vocabulary is a plus, gives a lot of extra credit and grades on fair curve. Though he does go off on tangents once in a while. A dry sense of humor but funny none the less. Don't be late or he will dismiss you no questions asked.
Very clear teacher, he gave a practice exam before each test and gave out a lot of answers. He was very interesting and told a lot of stories which made him very engaging and easy to listen to. I think he was a very good teacher. Definitely take him for PSYCH 1!
Pretty good professor. One of the classes that the textbook actually helps a lot. Gives practice exams before every test and you only need to do your part of studying and doing some extra credit. Challenging but easy.Pretty good professor overall.
3 tests including final which is not cumulative. Just do the reading and pay attention to highlighted vocab words and you will be golden. Don't show up late or he will send you ut the door and maybe embarass you. He is pretty funny and offers lots of opportunities for extra credit
pretty funny teacher. jus study a lot for the tests and its an A
DO NOT TAKE!!! Tests have nothing to do with lecture!! HORRIBLE
Easy class if you take the time to actually read the book. The tests are curved and he gives you a lot of extra credit opportunities!
I took this class back in 2005, and I do agree with other reviewers that Dr. Ramskov's class can be entertaining because he tells jokes and allow students to do extra credit assignments. However, he can be so rude, uncaring, and so mean to his students.
I loved Mr. Ramskov! I did okay in the class, yet I came out of it feeling like I learned a lot. He's very good at keeping our attention, especially if you sit up front (That's when he gives you A's). He's super chill and very clear and a great teacher, I loved his class.
He is a cool teacher, but rude if you come To class late. His class is hard!i don't recommend him, he's sometimes confusing. His test are hard, but he gives alot of extra credit!
Ramskov is cool. Just sit in the front and listen, then study the textbook for tests. Be on time, not because he WILL call you out, but because the class is interesting.
Ramskov is great! He's so knowledgeable and entertaining in class. He says everything that's going to be on the test during his lectures so if you go to class every day you're not going to have a problem. I've never even opened the book and I got an A+ on the first exam. I recommend him.
If you're going to take this class I would suggest to always read and know every single vocabulary word by heart, there is no slacking off in his class or you'll be behind. Just show up and do a little reading each night and you will be able to pass!
Not the best learning environment for me. He's nice, but his teaching is just not interesting to me. Had to read the entire textbook to catch up on his lessons.
I agree with other unsatisfactory. He calls out late students, yet he is late 5 min everyday. THATS 6 CLASSES A SEMESTER! Is unorganized and constantly get sidetracked on NFL. LEAD BY EXAMPLE RAMSKOV. Maybe uninspired with his work? Smart, but discouraging at same time.
He talks a lot and makes it difficult to ask questions, but he's glad to help one-on-one and is clearly a master in the field of study. He goes along with the book, which makes it really easy to study.
I'd say his lectures are pretty straightforward, but he can talk pretty fast. If you take good notes from just being in class, then you can get away with passing his exams w/o reading the textbook. Rarely gives hw. In my opinion, he's funny and engaging so I'm surprised he's only average in these reviews! With a lazy student like me, he's perfect!
Very nice teacher! He's funny and interesting. You just need to attend every lecture and take really good notes and you will be fine!He also offers a lot of extra credit and there is rarely hw!
I had him for psych 1. He adds everyone and is pretty laid back, but tests can be hard. If you take good notes, you don't need the textbook, but it can be very helpful. He does a couple random simple assignments, but most of your grade is a midterm and a final and he offers extra credit. Boring class, but fairly was, i got a B
Very unclear onhis lecture, I have no idea what he is talking about. To be honest I don't think I learn anything from this class . He is very sarcastic and make fun of students. Not recommended to take his class unless is required.
Awesome professor, had him for Psych 1 but I like this class better. There is a fair amount of work but it's interesting and I actually don't mind the fairly heavy work load. Ramskov is really intelligent, funny and makes class interesting. I definitely recommend taking his class if you can handle it.
Oh, Ramskov. He has a very strong personality that you will either like or dislike, there's no in-between. I thought his psych 1 class was rather hands-off, as opposed to his psych 2 class that is much more informative and has an enthusiastic energy. Psych 2 is fun because you get to experiment with a rat, but Dr. R is not very clear on due dates.
i did not like this class. It was horrible. I did well because I studied on my own and read the entire book. If you take outstanding notes and come to every class and just that you probably won't pass. A lot of outside study time is a necessity. Good luck to you!
He's a pretty straight-forward professor. If you come to class and listen to lectures, he gives you test questions while he's talking. He also published his notes into a book, so that would be helpful since he literally lectures straight from there. An A is from an 80%-100% so his curve is wonderful.
He's a really nice and funny guy, sometimes he gets side tracked but never for too long. He tends to go a bit fast but if you pay attention and take notes you're good to go. He always sends out a study guide and practice test, USE THEM!! Always read the text book before the test and know your vocab. Not too hard of a class, it was fun.
The tests are hard only because he doesn't cover the material in class, you are responsible to read the book and learn on your own!! Either get help from the tutoring center or don't take his class at all. I am an A student but Dr. Ramskov was difficult because all the learning is in your hands, his lectures are talks about his life stories.
curves tests. actually had to study for tests but thats cuz i suck at memorizing. oh yeah, lots of memorizing terms. ramskov is hilarious though. lectures forever but its entertaining. dont try to outsmart him cause he will put you down like a dog. put in effort and its an easy A - try to breeze through and youll get rekt.
Ramskov is a great teacher. He really keeps you interested in Psychology. Very funny. Very inspirational to the point that he almost makes you want to become a Psychology major and a psychologist. Very informative. Tests are not too bad as long as you study hard and memorize the terms. I took this for GE requirement. You won't be disappointed.
Worst professor I have ever stumbled across At De Anza. Puts students down and is extremely rude. Does nothing to help his students and his lectures don't make sense. Everything is unclear because he makes it that way. Puts no effort into helping his students. Wish I could go back and not take this class.
Ramskov is one of those professors who starts going off about random stuff for a while and will get off topic. pretty chill professor. two major exams and one final. zero homework basically but the test are pretty tough. he doesnt use the text at all in class but he has a book thats his that he uses is definitely recommended.
he's very helpful and he's always there for you when ever you ask questions. Tests are really easy and the class is easy A.
He has interesting lectures and a strong personality. He is very lenient about due dates and offers a lot of extra credit. VERY little HW so the tests make an impact but they are also curved. He gives some test questions in class + the outside psych reviews are VERY helpful. I didn't purchase the textbook or notebook as he uses his notes in class.
Clear, funny, relatable, efficient, sets up a clear path to an A, gives study guides a good amount of time in advance.
He was a really good teacher. Not too hard, but not too easy either. He tells you test questions in class, so its good not to miss class. But you can still pass. if you want an A, its important to take notes, and also read the textbook. His notes book is very helpful in studying for the test. He only has 3 tests in total, 2 quizes, and 1 essay.
First off, his "study guides" for his exams do not help at all. Questions were unrelated between the two. A few opportunities for extra credit. His lectures make you fall asleep and he will call you out if you do fall asleep. You need to read to pass his exams. 3 exams and a final is basically your grade. Maybe 3 HW assignments the whole quarter.
Chillest professor ever. Decent teaching. However, the class actually isn't that easy even though he hands out extra credit and gives out like 10 test questions each time. Your grade is basically made up of tests, and they're like 80+ questions and fairly difficult.
At first I was hesitant to take this class with Prof. Ramskov due to the reviews on ratemyprofessor; but once that I got to know his style, I loved it! The class is tough, but he offers a lot of extra credit. The tests are hard, but take-home, so you have plenty of time to think. He is highly knowledgeable and funny. I highly recommend him.
He makes psychology relevant and interesting, all while keeping your attention along the way. His tests are not particularly hard, as he gives you practice tests to feel your way through where you should be knowledge-wise prior to his tests (If you can score an 80% on his practice test you can hope to get 90% or above on the actual test).EXTRACRED
His test wasn't easy but class is really fun, he likes to talks about his life a lot. Also he did read reviews on ratemyprofessors. He gives out lots of extra credit, and those extra credit are pretty fun to do. No homework, some pop quiz, 2 midterm, and a final. If you are major in psychology or considering, definitely recommend take him.
Great Professor. Gives tons of extra credit. Lectures are interesting, yet jump around sometimes. Really funny and down to earth. GIVES OUT TEST QUESTIONS. He literally gives you everything you need to pass. You just need to put in the work. Personally, I did not use the textbook at all and passed with a B+.
I took Ramskov for Psych 1 and now 2, he gives a grand amount of extra credit and is absolutely hilarious. Lots of assignments but the class is very fun and immersive. He's very willing to help those who need it.
Ramskov is super funny and keeps the class awake. You don't really need to come to class everyday to pass. Just read the book!! He also makes it very clear in what he's looking for in exams by providing a study guide with test topics. Take advantage of his study sessions.
I took Ramscov for psych 1 and I thought it was a pretty easy class as long as you write down the test questions he gives you.
I agree that he gives out a lot of assignments mostly Q's & A's, and we have essays, vocab quizzes, take-home exam/essay, and midterms. However, I believe he does this to weed out quitters, or those that-have-time-to-study-but-don't, the kind of professor that needs to know that you understand what you're saying/doing on you research experiment.
Honestly Psych 3 was the hardest class. Experiment project, presentations, papers, in class essays, exams, and homework plus the reading. It was overwhelming af, but this class prepared me for transfer. You CANNOT slack off in this class. If you do not understand something, go to Ramskov he tries his best to help you understand. He's great!
Great guy, but not the best lectures. Would repeat the same idea multiple times and would constantly go off topic, usually about sports. Overall, a passable class if you just keep up with the reading, as there really is no need to listen to his lectures. Also curves exams leniently so if you get about 60% right, you should get at least a B.
Great and funny guy but If you want to get an A in the class, you have to already have background knowledge before joining. His lectures cover very little of the topic itself so its up to you to READ THE BOOK. He gives tons of extra credit. Tests are pretty hard and you barely have enough time, 50min for 80Q tests. CrashCourse on youtube helps.
Really enjoyed his class, extremely funny, makes class interesting and gives you the resources to succeed! He offers so much extra credit and has TAs that hold study sessions (super duper helpful). I personally read the book and made notecards using the study guide and breezed through. Not really a stressful class and not a dread to go to everyday
Ramskov is an awesome guy he goes over literally every question that will be on his tests in class then after that still lets you make up your tests if you did poorly. Oh and you get to do lab work with rats and someone in your group gets to keep it as a pet at the end of the quarter! taking him for psych 3, he's awesome!
All lecture, no real homework. Grade is solely based on exams, which are 80 questions, and in 50 minutes it is difficult. Lectures help, but you basically need the textbook or you will not pass the exams. Grades on a curve, but still a tough course if you are not that interested in psychology.
He is terrible! He doesn't cover the content in lectures and has long 80 question midterms. NOTHING on the study guide or "practice midterm" is actually on the test and he tends to not cover topics, addresses that he didn't cover the topic in class, but won't take it off the final.
This course is all online though cengage and I hated it! Taking quizzes and tests online is fine, but you will also have your essays graded instantly via an online tool which was buggy. Be ready to read and take lots of notes because the exam questions can be obscure and unclear. Also, no interaction with professor or other students. Good luck
I took this class in fall 2015. I really enjoyed his class. Reading the book and taking your own notes from the book are by far THE most important part of the class. His in-class notes don't give much. Tests are LONG (80 Qs) and difficult, I had highest score on the final from my class and that was only an 89 despite the rigorous studying.
He told the first day he would do every thing he could to help us succeed and he did he gives practice tests study guides actual exam questions and as he lectures he will tell you what is on the test. Good lecturer wants you in class because he said it will increase your chance of success. Very funny guy.
best psych professor in the solar system
Ramskov is the best psych professor. In every topic, he gives a real life example on the topic. 2 easy midterms and one final (he emails a copy of all of them). You get homework but it's once in a while and they're short. He is a funny and a gem to De Anza. Don't fall for those "hardest teacher. midterms are super long" rates.
he's great but a tough professor ! willing to help you out & always open to extra credit. reason I didn't do so great was because I did not follow through with the material nor attend his class so often. But if I could take again I would, he is very nice outside of class. recommend his personal book for notes & material rather than the regular book
didn't enjoy this class he talks about his personal life most of the class time, doesn't cover all the material so your gonna have to study on your own. he does offer extra credit but his tests are kinda tough
Professor Ramskov is one of my favorite professors at De Anza. He is extremely passionate about Psychology. Take his class for the lectures, which are pretty funny, and the experiments that you get to do with rats.
I just had him for spring and he made lectures very fun and interesting. He used humor and relatable situations to compliment the topics in psych. Even made his own notes for us to buy!! I highly recommend the class if you are new to psych. He truly is a great professor and wants every student to succeed.
Weekly chapters to read and mini quizzes to go with every few lessons. Take good notes and study well for the midterms and finals. Those count more than the weekly online quizzes. They also require that you understand the concepts rather than just memorizing from notes. He offered good extra credit.
Pretty goofy guy, made coming to class real enjoyable. Very little homework but tests are pretty difficult. Covers a good portion of what is on the test in his lectures but you'll definitely need the book or quizlet to properly prepare. Had fun, no legit complaints.
Offers a lot of Extra Credit. Raised my grade from a B to an A. Tests are hard and you have to read the book to get an A. Will not recommend if taking for GE. Does not cover all test areas in lecture.
Super heavy workload. 3 essays and 2 set of 60-75 questions MC for each midterm. Just too much to handle and don't worth the time.
One of the best English teachers out there. He does a well job of explaining the essays and even helping you out if you need help. Answers emails very quickly. The textbooks he uses are really easy to find. His essays are always interesting and lets you make up 2-3 essays for a better grade.
