he's really funny and laid back. you do a lot of fun activities in getting to know your classmates and there isn't any homework really except reading. there were two easy quizzes and no final. we did a couple of speeches

laid back and funny. he understands that we just want to get through the class and helps as much as he can. accepting of just about everything.

C-Ropester is the easiest college professor I've had. Two speeches, each like 4 minutes long. He's always cracking jokes and he has a shinny head. This guy is awsome, take his class.

This was an easy class, although he makes it seem as if it's going to be hard and that there will be a bunch of quizzes/tests. We had a few of those, but I don't think he graded them or else I would have gotten a bad grade in the class. I didn't like him because he seems to play favorites, but oh well, it was easy.

He is a very easy teacher and a great guy. Highly recommended.

If you don't have C Rope for SPCH you are missing out. This class is very easy and he makes it fun. If you attend every class than you get 10 extra pts

very easy and straightforward class, only 2 speeches, hardly any hw, and no final. he always made us read the book for a "quiz" but we never had one quiz or test. i was really supposed to get a B in the class but he ended up giving me an A-! he is a cool guy who is totally nice, highly recommended

I am very glad I had Professor Rope for Speech. Our class was a lot of fun and the speeches were easy and not nerve racking at all. You only have to give two speeches and they were a breeze!

Everyone has to take this class, and he makes is pretty painless. He's a funny guy, makes you feel totally comfortable talking in front of the class and you do a bunch of fun activities to get to know everyone. There's no real quizzes or homework. Funny guy, highly recommended.

He is nice, Has moodswings, Easy class all you have to do is a few speaches, no homework or tests. Just dont be late or miss class. He is bald too

I enjoyed this class. He makes everybody feel comfortable speaking, he's always on time to class and is very clear with directions for assignments. He was really fun and funny! RARELY read the textbook and won't give you quizzes if you participate in discussions. As long as you show up and do your speeches on time you will get an A!! Take him! He has his moodswings but just make sure you aren't on his bad side! 10 EC points for perfect attendance!

Very easy. I was scared to take a speech class but now I'm glad I did. The teacher is extremely funny and nice. There are only three speeches and one test, which was a group test where he would ask a question and someone would raise their hand and answer it. HIGHLY RECOMENDED FOR SPEECH.

I loved this teacher. I took him T/TH and we could only be in class for 20-40 minutes. He was a really good teacher and made the classroom a comfortable environment to give speeches in even if you get really nervous like i do. Like others said there is basically onlt 3 speechs and you are done. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!

Soooooo easy. Basically just show up cause he really just wants to see that you can talk in fronnt of people. The first speech he gave pretty much everyone a hundred on. The only quiz was oral and he just asked the class questions and then gave us all a hundred. You get extra credit for perfect attendance to so thumbs up if you have to take it

He is a great speech teacher. He lays things out in a very simple way and never acts intimidating. I really enjoyed the class plus the 10 pts. ex. credit you get if you attend every class.

Charles Rope is, by far, one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's fun, easy, and really loves communication. We did three speeches over the course of the semester, and played games the rest of the time. Great teacher and interesting person!

he is the coolest teacher. super nice and hella funny. hardly any homework, and there are hardly any tests. and the couple of reports that we have are hella easy and he gives us a lot of time to work on them. GET THIS TEACHER...no kidding

Charles Rope is a great professor. It's not that difficult of a class. All you do is 3 speeches, and a couple of reading assignments in the first half of the semester. Even if you're shy, it's not hard to speak in front of the class, the environment he creates makes everyone feel comfortable. Take this class with Prof. Rope, you won't regret it!

Rope is a very cool and funny guy. His class is fairly easy, providing you go to class and do a decent job on your speeches. He often says there will be a quiz on the reading, but this usually never happens. Though attendance isn't mandatory, you get 10 points extra credit if you go to every class, which can improve your grade quite a bit.

Great teacher! He's easy, but you still learn. Hardly use test book. Oral quizes and only three speeches. If you go on the first day of speeches assigned, you are graded easier.

I didn't like him at first because of his quirky personality but he turned out to be a pretty nice guy after all. Attendance is mandatory so you must attend. 6 absences = F so you better go! There were about 3 speeches that were easy to do. Extra credit given to you if you show up to class everyday. Fun games and discussion. Recommended.

Good teacher, makes class interesting. Going to class everyday and doing good on all/most of the speeches will get u an easy A. Most ppl didn't go to class and that's what messed them up.

My favorite professor! He's extremely sassy, but just play along. Many think he's rude, but he's just honest. We used the textbook about twice so I suggest just sharing one. We had about 2 oral quizzes and you only can miss 4 classes, but attending is mandatory. If you attend all classes though you earn extra credit! 3 speeches- all BEYOND easy!

Teacher has a great personality and he's very funny! Makes the class interesting and definitely passes time quickly. Only a few speeches that are very easy, few homework assignments here and there, and absolutely no quizzes or tests. VERY easy class I got an A with very little effort.

This was the easiest class ever. I thought it was going to b hard cause I don't like public speaking, but he made it super comfortable. We only gave 3 speeches throughout the semester and the rest of the time was just listening to others. Make sure you show up cause he takes attendance every class, but you get extra credit if you show up every time

He is a hard teacher and he can be condescending at times and he doesn't put up with the kids who act like jackasses in his class but he also doesn't hold grudges and gives everyone a fair chance. He is very educated in public speaking and makes you feel completely comfortable in his class. I highly recommend you take his class!

We had 3 speeches, 2 oral quizzes watched a movie & that was it. Also, two improv speeches but you do them w/ a group. participation is worth more than all the speeches put together. attend every class! he doesn't mark you off if you're nervous but he does mark you off for everything else lol

There's only 3 speeches and he grades them pretty easy. Showing up to class is MANDATORY! at times he can have mood swings and get angry at the class.

He is absolutely AMAZING. I loved this class. I had the three hour night class and he would always let us out early. He made sure to make us all feel very comfortable even though we had to do speeches. We were only assigned three speeches which were quite easy. I definitely recommend this class!!!

Loved this class! I hated public speaking before I took this class. I never receieved higher than a B on speaches before this class and I got an A on everyone in here! Make sure you go to EVERY class!

Easy enough in regards to the speeches (which should be the main focus of the class) If you miss a day of class, you'll regret it. The extra credit received for perfect attendance is so valuable, considering, he is a very meticulous grader.

Charles is a goo guy and a real helpful teacher. There are two speeches throughout the semesters and random easy assignments given as well. Don't miss a single class because perfect attendance means extra credit at the end of the semester and that could really help you. Overall, I highly recommend taking his class.

Everything is very straight forward in this class. He does not like the word "um" and teaches you how to break the cycle. I loved speaking for him. He brought my confidence up for public speaking. Very helpful when looking for what topics to speak on. Make sure you do the homework, I regret not doing it.

A W E S O M E. If you take it seriously and try to perform as well as possible you should have no problems. When you stop taking it seriously, for whatever reason, is the point at which problems will begin to develop. Participate, pay attention, and laugh, after all he is quite funny at times and makes room for you to be as well.

He is extremely easy! He grades easy on speeches and doesn't make you do group presentations which ws awsome. You are allowed to miss up to 4 days i believe. plus you always get out early

fulfill all his requirements and you will get an A.but don't get too smart because he'll want to knock you down a peg.i have full attention of my peers when im speaking(i'm a natural, whatever), but if you don't make Rope your priority, he won't care how interesting you are. good practice for speaking when uncomfortable .

Very effective teacher. He's such an interesting guy that it's easy to pay attention. We cover some basic concepts throughout the semester but most of the time we are simply performing speeches. Overall, you learn a bit about speaking, perform a couple speeches, and watch others perform their speeches. I can't find any problems with this class

He doesn't give a lot of work but he's really strict with grading on speeches. He'll mark you down for almost anything and does more to discourage you from being a better speaker rather than encourage. He also holds grudges against people who are late/absent.

I learned alot in class. How to better organize my ideas and speak in front of a comfortable group. He is hard on getting your work done, but i guess that how you learn. Go to class, follow ilearn, give your speeches. It's an intro class at a university so you have to be prepared. I laughed alot and made friends in class:)

I took this class over a year ago and therefore my review is quite simple: the class appears "easy" because Charles flexes effortlessly from teacher to friend- causing the class to relax and work together as I have yet to see repeated anywhere else in my education. If you deliver the little Rope asks for, you will get back tenfold what you put in.

My favorite teacher so far within the comm. department! He is so amazing! I never write these stupid things, but wanted to say that if you get the chance to take a class from him, do it!

As you read these you notice a trend, some people do well others should work at taco bell. I guess the last guy couldn't get a job their so he's wasting tax payers money going to a csu. Do your work and stop crying.

I personally enjoyed his class even though it was 6:00PM-9:50PM. He may come off intimidating, but he is very straight forward and fair. When he sets a deadline, he means it. Charles is a great professor. His class is interesting and it really contributed to my learning. I would definitely take his class again. He is very serious about getting your work in on time, but really wants you to learn. Best professor I have had to date!!!!

Just had him this semester and he was a great teacher! Although attendance is mandatory, his class really isn't bad and goes by fairly quickly compared to other classes. He teaches a whole lot without dragging on and on, and as long as you do your work promptly you'll do well. Just doing the hw+going to class really helps your grade.

Charles knows the course content very well and his teaching methods are effective to say the least. Take this class if you want to learn how to be a better communicator.

This class was pretty easy if you are generally a good public speaker and just make your visual aids and show up. There was a lot of bookwork and he actually graded it all pretty thoroughly which kinda sucked. He only makes you do two speeches which is way less than other Comm teachers. He gives extra credit opportunities and shows movies.Take him!

You get extra credit for being in class all the time. Average class time for every lecture was about 30-45 minutes tops. Homework is easy and answers straight forward in textbook but you need to paraphrase everything. He's nice and easy grader. Only had 2 speeches max in this class. Easy A.

This professor is awesome and SUPER EASY. He does not give any tests or quizzes. Your final is an easy 2 minute speech and as long as you do the homework it should be an easy A+.

Charles is hilarious and is such an easy-going professor. There is a weekly homework assignment - literally just skim the sections and find the answers, online submissions - but no exams. A couple of easily-graded speeches. He gives 10 points of extra credit if you go to every class - easy with 3 hour classes, where he lets you out within an hour.

Easiest Comm 150 teacher. A total of 2 individual speeches (midterm & final)- a percentage of your grade for each of those is based off of your outline (easy points). He assigns some homework out of the textbook at the beginning of the semester, very easy, just make sure to put answers in your own words. Always let us out of class early.

He had to leave partway through the semester, but during the time that I had him, he was a wonderful person to have as a professor. The learning is very interactive and just overall really fun. I would definitely recommend this prof.

Prof. Rope is amazing! His lectures are really funny and encourage you to participate. There is homework for this class and you need to keep up with it if you want a good grade, but the work isn't that hard. He is really helpful when it comes to the speech aspect of the class and the whole experience is both educational and fun!

He is an absolutely amazing teacher. If you have the chance to take him, do it. He honestly helped me get rid of being nervous to give public speeches.

Good professor to learn from. Rope gives us plenty of time to practice before presentations using outlines prepared beforehand. And our outlines are graded for feedback too. That's how much he cares about his class.

You get weekly assignments. Pretty basic, just read and answer questions. Only 2 speeches, midterm & final. The first one he'll give you an A as long as you go for the time required however, you have to be ready for the 2nd one and do all the requirements to actually receive an A. ALWAYS lets you out of class early!

Charles is a really funny guy. I really enjoyed his class. The textbook homework was a work load but after that is done (half of semester work), the course is a real breeze. We only did about 3 speeches and they are really easy topics. Im glad I had him for my Comm class.

Professor Rope is an amazing teacher. Tried taking public speaking multiple times and hated it, but as soon as I step into prof. Rope's class I enjoyed it from the jump. Given a certain amount of absences, so use them wisely. We only did two speeches for the whole year. A lot go book work, but I didn't buy the book. I used the library.

The professor is nice and funny but get to class on-time or early because once class starts he will not let you in. The group projects were completed during class time. The homework was very easy to get ahead on and came straight from the textbook. You could easily get the free trial for the textbook and do all the assignments before you pay.

Took this class last semester. He is a funny and an outgoing professor. But there is homework every week but it is manageable just don't wait last minute. Attending every class on time is so important because he will not let you in if you are two minutes late. He also makes you turn on your camera. No quizzes and the final was super chill/easy.

I enjoy this classeven online. Directions are laid out and he makes it easy to speak in front of others. People new to online may have a hard time. He uses turnitin as a tool to ensure we are not copying work. I recommend him to my friends.

The online presence is good but I bet in person is better. He makes alll rules clear on day 1 and there is always the syllabus to look at. My understanding is turnitin is just a tool for plagiarism not grading but he does have a scale. So far its been easy.

Likes of work. I have bad englist but he worked with me on the side. I took this class 2 times and finally past. So glad he worked with me for a semester.

There is a lot of reading. Given it online you have to expect the work in some way. Hw and mixed groups. The best of online and only a few times a week.

Online classes can be hard. Some people that I have to work on groups are just lazy and show up late. Pandemic has made it worst. Its easy to call out the teacher but hard to face being a failure. I find the class easy because show up on time and do my homework.

Text books are free. Questions each week. Keep up with that and it seems like a good class. Online participation is required. Takes attendance but we only meet 1 time a week. Funny class.

Funny stuff for college. Glad Im taking this class now. I put it off for 3 yes and now I had to take it to graduate. I find this easy. We do have deadheads in the class but thats every class. I already got extra credit

Just a real person. Ive talked to my roommate and they have a lot more work. Being able to read is a good start. Hes not my babysitter hes teaching life skills.

Roofers is the best. If you talk with him privately he will work with you. He sticks to course grades but if your just honest hes cool. Hes rather you be honest then lie to him. Work is from the book not hard if you do the reading.

I took the class bc of the reviews and they are honest. If you need help hes more than happy. Hes not gonna hold your hand-its a university. Some people should get over it and learn how college works. Im happy to go to class. Its actually my favorite class. Someone sounds like they have issues with the work not the professor. You can DROP!

There is a lot of reading but what do you expect at a university. We do fun impromptu speeches and have lectures. Id say its like any other class at SFSU.

We had free online textbooks so that was nice. Reading questions we due once a weekalso nice. If you followed the syllabus this is an easy A class.

Its an online classjust follow the cues. Everything is on ilearn. Some people cant keep up and should get a job at Burger King. You do the read supplied. He is quirky and funny. If you are not grown up you probably dont get adult humor. Take a class on humor. I didnt like some of the studentsboring and nothing to share. Get a life.

If you participated fun. Some people take too much Prozac (read the bottle). We had 2 textbooks. They were free. Lessons were always on ilearnif you can us a computer. I feel sorry for people who think think was difficultcould be reading level issues.

We had free online text and did not have to buy anything lots of participation expected from each student if you want a good score in that area. Its a Comm class so you can come up with stuff to laughter about. My favtclass this semester.

Rope is great. I have talked with him after class and he cares about students. This class does not have a no credit option and we due use the textbook (which are free) each week. You have to be a loser not to pass this class.

The semester is almost over. If you can figure out your grade take a beginners math class or check ilearn. Easy class with a teacher who understands how communication can be. Im glad o took this section.

the workload was very manageable and we only had hw once a week or so. it took some time getting used to his grading criteria because he did not give us proper warning, but once you get used to it the class is very easy. comes off as a bit rude (?) but means well :)

Very easy class if you follow instructions and participate. I took the once a week online comm class and was scared for it when I first went in but it ended up being my easiest class. He is very friendly and fun if you are on his good side and do everything correctly, but is pretty harsh otherwise. The book work takes a lot of time too.

Do the work. Keep track of your grades. Admit you got a C and be happy. The class is not difficult you just have to read the text and answer questions. Do in class activities.

I came into the class expecting to learn to outline speeches and do them in front of the class, but we'd do impromptu group speeches instead. You do need your cameras on if you take online and he will indeed call you out. You do need to attend class as part of grade and readings were simple but needed to write thorough responses for full credit.

This class was pretty engaging to be online there were time where we would work together in groups. I found the class to be fun and not too intimidating since he is really approachable and just want to make sure you're trying. We had about three speeches and assignments that weren't hard just reading and answering questions from the texts online.
