Dr. Rader is a great professor. He provides very clear directions and expectations, and its up to you to read and perform! I wasn't so sure about not having a textbook, but Dr. Rader selects relevant, interesting articles to supplement his class. Tip: print each article out and keep it in a binder! And do lots of highlighting and note taking.

Reading some of these I lol. To be clear, I'm a real student in MKT201 summer class. I don't even know my grade yet but I LOVED this class. Dr Rader is so nice. I emailed him at 9 pm on a Fri night for help with a quiz issue and he answered in 10 minutes and fixed it! He cares and always answers. He's amazing. They are mad they had to work! Period.

Before taking the class I was a bit worried about it due to the rumors and the syllabus. However, once you get through the first few weeks of class, the class begins to become enjoyable and quite interesting. He really cares for his students and wants to see each student succeed, and is open to answering any questions about the industry.

Dr. Rader is a great professor to take MKT201 with. You can tell that he has a passion for marketing and is very knowledgeable of the field. He also is open to working with you. My 18 month son became sick during timeframe a quiz was due and Dr. Rader was caring enough to work with me because of my situation. He cares about his students. Thank you!

He goes based off his syllabus and schedule given at the start of the semester. he doesn't really say what's due when (he expects students to have read the syllabus/ schedule) if u do the reading and show up u will get an easy A. also his lectures are great, very interesting, not boring. more like ted talks. Dr. Rader has one of the best 400-level classes at the school. Clear expectations from the first day of class with everything in the syllabus and schedule. Be prepared to read more than in any other class, you will not do well because of daily quizzes (which aren't hard). This class will teach you more about marketing than any other class at WCU.

You need to read all assignment material as well as take notes during lecture videos. I suggest ready over the weekly material several times throughout the week so you have a good understanding of the material

I think that Rader is a great professor! It took me a few weeks to keep up with the schedule, but if you read it before class every week, you will keep up easily! Do the readings and take notes and get good grades. The group work is fun, and you learn a lot from his class. Probably the only class I've taken at WCU that is genuinely educating.

Dr Radar teaches on material where you will come out with valuable knowledge and not feel like you've wasted your time. While some students complain about the course load, it is entirely manageable and expected from a 400 level class. He gives you a decent amount of wiggle room when it comes to your grades as long as you put the work and effort in.

Professor Rader definitely knows his stuff, we had at least one quiz a week sometimes two so get ready to read all the materials he gives you because you will not do well on the quizzes if you do not. He does give extra credit occasionally so go to as many classes as you can.

Professor Rader has great field experience that he really applies it to his classes and what he teaches. This class does require a lot of reading and studying, as he gives quizzes on everyone of them. If you keep up with these readings then the class isn't too hard. Overall one of my favorite classes but can get tough at times.

For this course you have to put the work in if you want a good grade. If you study diligently (watching the lectures and reading the materials provided over and over) you will do well in this class. Prepare to spend at least 6 hours a week in reading material to prepare for quizzes. If you do the readings and study, you will pass the quizzes. This is the most beneficial class you can take at WCU if interested in social media marketing. All of the group work and final interview prepares you to land a job in the field. Great class!!

I learned a lot from Dr Rader. I enjoyed his teaching style and was super engaged in all class material. He gave a lot of reading homework, but he's a fair grader and makes the class fun. Overall an enjoyable class with a great professor.

Overall, I really enjoyed this class. This is the second class that I have taken by him and I really like his teaching style. There is a lot of reading in this class, but it can be interesting stuff to learn.

The courses were very interesting, the teacher's expertise and knowledge are great values. I loved this class, it taught me a lot while having many advantages such as extra credits, "non-mandatory" participation, and group work. The teacher gives us examples and concrete facts allowing us to fully understand the subject.

Professor Rader is a tough professor but is a great one. He has a lot of knowledge and transmits it in an engaging way. I always joked with myself that I learned "too much" in this class, but with this said, it is the most valuable information you can learn to prepare for the outside world. He provides you with the most insight and is very knowledgeable in his field of work. If you read, participate, ask questions, and invest, you will succeed.

This professor is as close to real world as you are going to get. His class is very much a get out what you put in type of class. If you show up, do the reading and want to learn something take his class. Yes, he is a very tough grader and very strict however he treats you like adults and expects quality work from 400 level students.

If you do what it takes to read the handouts online and the textbooks, you will pass the weekly quizzes. The group exercises are manageable, as long as you have a good group. His lectures are phenomenal. The class is better than I ever anticipated it to be, and he teaches you what you need to be successful in social media.

Professor Rader was easily one of my favorite professors at WCU! His class has a lot of reading and a quiz at least once a week (sometimes twice,) but if you are willing to put in the work, you come out on the other side with a greater understanding of social media marketing. He also stays up to date on trends and implements these topics in class.

By far the best class I have taken in the three years I have been here. You Will learn so much to prepare you for outside of college. The professor keeps you engaged and keeps his lectures fun . This class involves heavy reading, followed by challenging weekly in-class quizzes. The group project is also a heavy workload for the course, make sure everyone does their part and works well together. Don't be afraid to ask the professor questions he'll do an excellent job of addressing it.

This was my second time to have this professor. Very knowledgeable with real world experience. There is a lot of reading but, as this is a high level course this is to be expected. Syllabus and schedule were easily accessible and laid out at the beginning of semester. I enjoyed the lectures, and learned a lot. There is extra credit opportunities.

A lot of readings, but a perfect way to learn and to be prepared for the lectures which are really interesting and covers a whole range of topics about Social Media/Web Marketing. The group exercises in this class allow to apply what has been seen in class.

Probably one of my favorite classes so far. There are a lot of readings, but mainly from articles and the books that he's assigned. Every class either has a quiz or a group assignment, so be prepared to show up. The schedule is completely written out, so you won't ever wonder what happened in class even if you missed a session.

Dr. Rader is one of my favorite professors here at Western. Going to class is crucial to pass and completing the assigned readings. This class is also a lot of group exercises but all is managable.

Dr. Rader seems to get a bad rep from some but he makes his policies and expectations very clear. There are weekly reading quizzes during class and group activities but no unit exams. Just show up to class and do the readings/group work and you will pass. There is an interview assignment at the end of the semester and a non-cumulative final exam.

This class was extremely eye-opening and informative. Dr. Rader does an extremely good job of teaching students how to actually use social media effectively for businesses. There are graded assignments each class (quizzes or group exercises), but the work load is manageable. Attendance is mandatory, but there is a lot of extra credit.

Dr. Rader is the most real professor I have had at two different institutions. He is very precise and to the point with everything in communications to students. He has an extremely clear grading system, and three books you can take a lot of real-world info from. Finally, there is a daily quiz on the things you have read, but not crazy in depth.

Professor Rader is one of the best professors I've had in my college career. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to all things marketing. His lectures are very interesting and you will learn a lot if you pay attention. The majority of your grade comes from weekly quizzes that are 10 questions each. Professor Rader's teaching style is through video recorded discussions about the current module with a PowerPoint. Sometimes he shows example commercials in his lectures so that's always nice. He speaks humbly, clear and they way things are explained it is very clear especially for a student like me that has a hard time learning online.

He talks over these, so take notes. The tests were tough, but once you learn what is expected, you start to expect the unexpected (if that makes sense).

I learned a lot from this class from the professor. He is very diligent when it comes to grading and quizzes to be ready to read. There is a quiz almost every class on the readings that were assigned. The readings are not too bad you just have to make sure you have the right books.

Rader knows his stuff. Even though the class is tough, you will gain very valuable information. This class consisted of mandatory reading, frequent in person quizzes, and group work. The work was difficult and time consuming, but Rader is worth taking if you're willing to apply yourself.

We had quizzes almost every class over the assigned reading, so be sure to come prepared. I used to be terrible about skipping class and showing up late, but this class forced me to break those bad habits. The lectures are informative and he does a good job at explaining concepts.

He gives relevant reading material from mkt professional's books, and all the group projects give you some great experience. Tough grader, but if you try you'll pass.

Good lecture wise, it wasn't borng like most classes are. Lots of quizzes like almost every class so you have to read the books he tells you to. Show up to class is a must, sometimes he gives extra credit on quizzes if a lot of people aren't there. He is a tough grader and has strict rules, just follow them and you will do fine. Group work as well.

Rader is fantastic. He likes things done a certain way but if you get with the program you'll be fine. You definitely have to do the readings and there is an interview project that you should get started on earlier than you think.

You earn the grade you want. If you don't put in the effort—esp with the readings for the quizzes—it shows in your performance. This is clear from the beginning, it sets students up for success in the business world. I've learned more here than in any other class. The professor is knowledgeable, professional, and the material genuinely interesting.

I feel as if Professor Radar has mastered teaching this class and the material taught. Even if the class material amount is less than some classes, we go super in-depth in our material and have assignments per material that guide us to understand the material in our own situations. The class requires a lot of effort and attention but it is worthy.

Great Professor. Engages with the students and answers questions while not directly giving you the answer. Prepare for a lot of quizzes. However, if you get the basics, you can use common sense, but read it helps.

Dr. Rader is phenomenal. Though his class is taken very seriously, it has many readings and frequent quizzes. He is very insightful and an excellent professor to listen to. Be prepared to work hard and read a lot. This is a course that truly prepares you for your career. Overall, I would definitely take more of his courses.

Professor Rader is a great professor. He is very clear about his expectations for the class in terms of showing up, coursework, and overall class management. IF YOU WANT TO PASS READ THE BOOKS AND ARTICLES. some group assignments, Quizzes are timed per question but there only 1-10 questions per quiz. Must do interview and exam or you will fail instantly. Knows his stuff and DON'T BE LATE TO CLASS doors will close and can not be open. Quiz or group assignments for every class. So show up for every class.

Professor Rader will make you WORK... but this is what is to be expected for a 400 level course. The content is not hard to understand but be prepared to read outside of class around 2-4 hours per week. Most of his points are earned through these readings you do, so in order to pass, you MUST read. Very knowledgable professor, wants you to succeed.

Be ready to read lots of articles and chapters in text books. There is a quiz everyday at the beginning of class. Dr. Radar is a good professor and takes everything very seriously and professionally. If you wanna pass the course study, read, participate and show up to class would be my advice.

MKT 406 is not for everyone. If you are looking for an easy class, don't take this one. You will have a quiz every day that requires 50+ pages of reading. However, if you are willing to put in some time and work, this class will be extremely rewarding. Dr. Radar is a wonderful professor, there are many reasons why there are so many 5 star reviews.

I really enjoyed this course and learned a lot. It's great for those interested in social media, but be prepared—it's reading-heavy with weekly quizzes and mandatory attendance. Not for anyone looking for an easy A, but definitely rewarding if you're willing to put in the work.

He cares about what he teaches and you can tell. Even though it's a lot of reading and some of the quizzes are hard it is kinda a fun class.

He is a really good professor and very knowledgeable about all types of marketing, I think it's important to know this isn't a class you can just show up and think you will be okay. Hard work is required for this class. This class is worth it if you truly want to learn.

This professor has his entire corse scheduled out on canvas which is incredibly helpful. The class is very quiz and group work heavy. Quizzes are daily and are based on the several readings assigned in the schedule. I did find the readings excessive, having the textbook say something that would be repeated in two or three of the articles assigned.

This class is by far my most valuable takeaway from WCU. There's much more to the world of social media than you think. This class will prepare you for the world of marketing. Is there a ton of reading and quizzes in class - YES. You will have to work for this class, but it is 100% worth it. You will absolutely benefit from this course.

So this class in my opinion is GREAT some disagree.I think that is because people want a super easy course where they just glide by, there is work for this class, participation is your choice but what you put in you get out.I learned so much from the course and lectures and reading. Take it you won't regret it.

I hear a lot of complaints about his quizzes, but honestly I don't find them that bad. It's a lot of reading though so be prepared. I don't like the emphasis on group-work especially as you don't really get to choose your group like with his other classes. There's an option to say if someone didn't participate, but not if the whole group didn't.

This class was very interesting and useful. There are readings you have to do before most of the classes and a quiz associated with it, but it's not terrible. Coming to class is important because you will be working with your group (table) a lot. Overall, this class was very entertaining and useful and I would recommend taking it.

Professor Rader is one of the most valuable professors I've had. Social Media Marketing is not an easy class, but it's well worth it, everything we learned was practical and directly applicable. Since using what I learned in this class, my monthly views (TikTok and IG) have literally doubled. He really knows his stuff.

He is very hard and a difficult grader. But besides that if you try your best in the class and show up you should pass. The professor is actual leanient and will work with you for most things. Just dont skip class and read everything he gives you and you should be good.

Mr. Rader is very strict, but also a really respectable person, strongly encouraging professionalism throughout his course(s). He gives great lectures and has a consistent schedule that includes many group projects and demands constant studying of readings of quizzes. Class attendance is a must and these practices assure info is absorbed well.

In my opinion, as a normal average A to C student, he was terrifying. BUT, he is literally the only professor who has kept the content in my brain. I am a marketing major and his class was one, if not the sole reason why I have actual knowledge in marketing. He drives information in your brain whether you like it or not. Take this class and learn.

Dr. Rader is a very picky and harsh grader when it comes to to assignments. Down to each font and size of fonts, and if the document looks appealing. If you do not have a group that communicates regularly then this will be an issues that could come up.

I took Prof. Rader's online course. He is a good professor and means well, but will hold you to a standard. Doesn't give out easy points. If you already have a busy summer planned, I would stay away, studying for the quizzes takes a good amount of time. Quizzes can only be taken on weekends, which for me wasn't ideal as I work the most on weekends.

I took his summer MKT 406 course and he did not lighten the scope of study, assignments, or his expectations. He was easily available by email or video chat when there were questions or concerns about assignments or content, but his expectations are laid out crystal clear in the syllabus, lectures, and assignment. Would definitely take again.

Beside the three top tags I've applied. Professor Rader's MKT course is not as bad as I pictured to be. It really is about reading the syllabus and course schedule to keep yourself in check. But I would say is I wish I could have the quiz to be available during the weekdays then weekends.

I just finished MKT 406 online in the summer; it was a lot of work. Especially in group work, ensuring your whole team is on the same page before working on assignments is essential. I only had one other class, which took most of my time this summer. Do not take this online class on a full schedule!

Dr. Rader is a strict grader but he offers many chances of extra credit throughout the course, just so you don't fall bellow the belt. Studying online, it was hard to navigate through the group exercises. But I have learned a lot as Dr. Rader gave clear feedback. If I had to take this class again, it will for sure be with Dr. Rader.

I took Dr. Rader's MKT 406 online course during the summer. Dr. Rader is very honest up front about the amount of work this course entails. Every week you are to submit 1 group assignment as well as 2-3 quizzes per week. Reading is required for quizzes. Dr Rader does a good job at helping you with anything you need.

It is one of my most challenging classes, or at least grading-wise. The grades are all group projects and quizzes. He is a very strict grader but will give feedback for every point that he takes off and allows plenty of chances for extra credit and opportunities to fix grades. I learned a lot from his class and would recommend it.

Professor Rader treats this class as if it is a job. The bright side is that you will have to learn how to communicate well with others and manage your time well for the amount of work given. The downside is that it can feel like a ton of work, especially if you aren't pacing yourself on the group project and readings. DO NOT procrastinate.

The group projects are not that hard, but can be depending on your group mates. The quiz is easy if you read. The hardest part is the SME interview, so don't wait till last minute, start looking 2 months in advance.

Really good professor who cares for his students. His lectures are really engaging and interesting. Attendance is not mandatory, but there is a grading opportunity each class, usually reading quizzes or a group assignments. I really enjoyed this class, it is not too difficult. As long as you look at the resources given for the quizzes you will do good. There is also group projects that can sometimes be time consuming. Overall, he is a great teacher that enjoys what he does and makes the lectures engaging.

I would recommend Rader if you are a marketing student. He is very knowledgeable and teaches with case studies that are practical for real life. There is a short quiz every week, which you have to do some readings on but since there is no other homework, it is not an overwhelming amount. You will have to work in groups weekly in class as well.

This course is very reading and writing heavy I would say but do not let that scare you away. All of the readings, videos, lectures correlate to the course material and are helpful outside of this course. His lectures show how experienced he is in Marketing. He is engaging, and willing to help. What is expected, is listed out on day 1.

I was in Dr. Rader's MKT-406 class for the Fall 2025 semester. Dr. Rader has been a wonderful professor (I chose to take a second class of his because of the way he conducts the classroom). Dr. Rader is always available for questions and answers and pushes us to participate and learn. I have never had a single problem with the way he does class.
