Professor Severance has the rare gift of talking to the students. In other words he teaches as though he was talking to you as a friend, or peer. As a student you know the instructor has a mastery of what he/she teaches. Being a former military instructor I have seen this trait rarely, and only the best of the best have the trait.

Made me feel like he was really personally invested in me learning the subject, even though I was taking a MOOC and never met him. Inspirational person and a true educator at heart.

I'm doing Python for Everyone on Coursera. Dr. Severance is an amazing teacher. I've completed my 3 courses out of 5 and I'm on 4th course. Till now I hadn't have to face any problem in understanding the concept of any topic. I was able to understand all the topics and coding and I'm able to use those concepts and write proper codes myself.

I don't think you can get a better professor for computer science. He has the capability to spoil you, you would not want to learn from anyone else if you take a class from Dr. Chuck. He doesn't give too many hints for assignments and makes you work for it so you understand it better. A really great teacher.

He understands my feelings and thoughts about python and he gives lecture according to that. Like when I met some code that I don't know he told me that I just focus about subject, not to worry about other unknown, difficult things. Best course to get started with python for non-programmers. Lectures are very simple, well explained and easy to follow. Quizzes are rather easy but they are expected as it is an beginner course. Assignments are great. The instructor is very friendly and energetic too.

Charles Severance is the best teacher I've ever had!

I'm 57 and have always been taking classes in many different areas, online, for personal development. From bioinformatics to Viking history to my hobby, IT, I have worked with a lot of instructors. Severance is fantastic! I have learned more about programming in Python than classes in other languages, python included. Well explained and delivered.

I just say Dr. Chuck is the best!!!

Professor Chuck was by far the best professor and I would love to see more lectures from him and I hope I can meet him in a meeting or off-screen. If you focus with the professor for sure you can learn a-lot about python. I loved the course so much I reached week 6 in 2-3 days and I will finish today of maximum Tomorrow. I took Dr Severance's class to learn Python for a work project. His method of writing code, walking through it and explaining various options to do the same thing was excellent. I also followed along in his PDF book which was excellent. The class changed the direction of my project. I was able to use data without SQL. Wish he had an R class!

Keep up the good work. right around lesson 7 is when it gets sticky and hard to understand. but if you just move past it and go back that is what helped me learn
