just take the online practice tests and you will do fine.
great teacher...makes learning fun and rewarding

Hey look it's Ross off of friends, no, it's Dr. Sicotte.
Do not recomend taking :(
the material was very hard, but Mr. sicotte tried hard to make it better. He's a good teacher, but the work is damn hard.
The class was hard, he was funny, which doesn't really mean anything.
Don't skip any of his classes (this is true for any class you take) or you will be completely lost for the rest of the semester. Not an easy class.
BAH! BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!
I had an easier time following the book than I did the instructor. Mixing terminology only confuses/compounds the problem, and lack of examples make abstract ideas difficult to learn. Be prepared to do plenty of work.
BORING BORING :(
he's great, funny and intelligent
Great guy, funny and intelligent...can ramble a bit...do not miss any classes you will be behind. HAHA looks like ross but talks like the dry eyes guy!!
awesome
what a jerk, he has a skewed view of the world and, his "study guides" are great, if you need something to burn
He is a good teacher but the tests are really hard and he does not grade on a curve. Be prepred to do a lot of studying. He does you give you the actual questions on his test though but not the answer options.
This class is VERY boring...if you don't drink coffee you better start!! The teacher is so confusing that you might as well only show up for test days and teach yourself the material...Okay guy but BORING and CONFUSING!!!!!
one of the best teachers I've had. He's not there to nurse you or be your best friend. He expects you to study and ask questions. I learned more from him then I ever imagined I could.
funny, very into his students, always available
Great teacher. Not the easiest, but this is college, You need to study. Many complain about tests, but if you attend class and read the book, this class should be decent. If you taken an economic course in high school, This class will be a snap. Lectures seem long, but always to the point.
Great teacher! He is the nicest teacher you will ever meet. He really loves his job and is always willing to help. His tests are kind of difficult, but he is wants to help you get the best grade possible. He always tries to understand his students better.
he is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo easy
I thought that he was super nice and very helpful. I thought that he made it pretty interesting and thought that overall he is an awesome teacher.
he doesnt explain things, what he goes over in class is not on the tests, and its just a bad class...i tell everyone to stay away from Macro
hard but very fun
New website for homework is pretty hard. His tests are very confusing and you really have to study and ask questions whenever you dont get something. Hes always willing to help you. Hes very nice and VERY sexxay!!
good teacher, if you think he's confusing, your'e not paying enough attention
Didn't care about the students, basically told us every day that we were stupid and that we should be able to understand the information before we are even at that subjuct.
All he does is write notes on the board. Very boring. Class isn't very hard if you apply yourself. Very nice guy.
Very clear and very helpful. Very easy to write clear notes during his lectures. I would not hesitate to take him for another class.
I didnt realize how good of an economics teacher Mr. Sicotte was until I had ECO 111 with Bill Andersen. Very nice guy and knows the subject well.
Something that needs to be mentioned here is that his ECO 110/111 uses an online resource called Aplia - if you do not have easy internet access, you cannot do the online homework and lose out on up to 20% of your grade. Easy class, considering it's just easy tests and homework, nothing else.
the worst professor i have ever had in my whole life!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! puts things everyone gets wrong on homework on the tests and then laughs because we all got it wrong again!!! again.. DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR ANYTHING!!!
Isn't a very good teacher but a nice guy though
One of the nicest teachers ever, he cares about students and wants them to de well, but he is difficult. He writes everything on the board, so it is easy to take notes. The class was boring though and he doesn't do a great job explaining things. Only take him if you are already good at economics and can understand it easily.
Reccomend his classes if you are majoring in economics and prepare for a lot of studying. His classes tend to be hard, but he is helpful if you ask for it. He expects a high degree of excellence, thus his objective multiple choice tests are difficult. He also usually requires a online program called Aplia. This clase is not for newbs, lol
Boring class and does not do a good job making it exciting. Unless you fully understand Economics, look else where.
he is very boring doesnt explain much you learn more by not going to class and just reading the book yourself. its boring but way better than going to class and trying to listen to him.
Great teacher, difficult subject but tries to help you out as best as he can. So long as you do the homework and read the book he will make sure you do ok. I think hes great!
I found he was confussing until I started reading the book, if you read he makes sence b/c he is explaining the book, which is where the test comes from!! He is always willing to help! I thought he was great and he curved so we would pass, Youngbloood doesn't.I took both and would recommend Sicotte,he grades better and they are both hard.
At first glance the class is boring, but he really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Really nice guy. Read the textbook if you are having any trouble at all. Actually, it's kinda good to read it anyway lol.
Sicotte isn't as energetic as Youngblood, but he's still a great guy who knows his stuff and communicates it well. He's very approachable and pleasant. His Micro class isn't particularly easy, but neither is it difficult. I had only ever taken one other Econ course before, so even an intro class like this was very informative for me. Recommended!
He was a nice guy, but I felt he was an aweful teacher. We started out with a full class and by the end we had maybe 7 left in the class. I never could understand anything he tried to teach us. I suggest M. Youngblood. He is amazing.
Nice guy, but probably shouldnt be in the teaching profession. I felt like he just crammed a bunch of definitions and useless concepts at us. He does use a curve and is pretty fair when it comes to the grades but the Aplia Homework is pretty tough. I wouldnt recommend this class or teacher.
He's really boring and bad at answering questions in class, but the tests are really easy, and even though he says he doesn't care if you go to class or not. He gives the students who go a big advantage.
He is pretty boring. Nice guy though. The class is just a slide show, no real substance there. You'll probably have to read the book and do the weekly online assignments. No need in going to class.
Excellent teacher. Teaches mostly through lecture with some in-class discussion. Minimal homework. Easy tests with study guides provided. Very pleasant person.
Really nice, down to earth guy, but there truly is no benefit to going to class if you can learn from the book. Lectures are dry and based on Power Points. It is indeed a difficult class but if you stay on top of things you'll be fine. Grades on a curve, drops your 2 lowest HW scores and adds an additional 10% to the HW grade. I would reccomed him.
If you have to take a social science, this is the class to take. As long as you are okay in algebra. Any person who has taken past algebra two, you will love this class. He teaches off of the power point and curves everything. Easier than any sociology or psychology class as long as you can do some math. Wish I had taken Micro before transfering.
He is the worst teacher i have EVER had! He is extremely smart but he doesnt know how to teach the students what he knows. Class is not mandatory. find a different teacher! DO NOT TAKE PERIOD!
Good and bad.. I have no interest in this economics, so this class is boring for me. I haven't found Sicotte to make the subject any more interesting. However, he is intelligent and seems to enjoy what he does. And those are two excellent aspects in a teacher.
Extremely boring class! He needs to find a way to spice things up because i would skip class at least once a week, i could not handle sitting in his class for 50 mins. Easy class though. No papers, just small homework quiz and tests
This is the most BORING class I have ever taken. The tests are difficult. He usually gives you the test (w/o the multiple choice answers) to study, but, honestly, that doesn't help at all. Usually, if I study the notes and text book I can pass any test, but that is of virtually no use in this class.
this class is easy and very straightforward he gives you the test w/o the answers before each exam and with minimal effort an easy A can be made...but yes this class will put you to sleep bring coffee
he's an excellent professor. the material is a little boring and sometimes difficult but he does his best with it. i went to class and did the assignments and never read the book and got an a.
he does a very good job at trying to keep things interesting he makes references to the really work the only down side is his classes have a lot of people in them so if warm/hot classrooms put u to sleep bring caffine
homework through aplia was very easy but test was hard.
Professor Sicotte is a great professor. The class is difficult, but if you read the book and study it should be a pretty easy A.
Prof. Sicotte knows his material and does a good job explaining it, the subject itself is not all that interesting but the information can be helpful, just breif the chapter before class he uses mainly powerpoint, and online homework.
It is not an easy class, but Prof. Sicotte is a nice guy and will help if you ask questions. Just read over the book, do the homework assignments, and go to class (even though it isn't required). He does his homework assignments on aplia. He gives about an assignment per week, which isn't bad at all. And he does his lectures with a power point.
Great guy. Very flexible teacher. Very helpful. Deffinately reccomend!
Very nice guy but extremely BORING!! I could barely stay awake in his class. Homework is easy but his tests are hard. You really need to study to get a good grade. I love his grading scale though :)
Great teacher, not boring at all. Explains concepts and expectations he has for the class. Plus he has a amazing grading curve.
He's a smart professor but very boring. If you do not read the chapter before class you will not understand what he is talking about and be even more bored. His homework is easy but tests are pretty difficult. His class was hard, in hard classes I must ask questions, but he bores me so much I could not keep asking.
Great guy. He has a deep passion for Economics. If you enjoy Econ, this is a guy you can learn a lot from. Always willing to stay after and work with you. He recommended several outstanding blogs and podcasts that are gems for any student interested in Econ.
The most boring class I have ever taken! He is a nice guy, however, I feel ripped off as I learned nothing in this class, and what he lectures on, is useless because none of that information is on the test. Would not recommend this class if you want to learn about economics, or if you think it will be an easy A.
My second round with Sicotte, and at least I came out of it sucessfully. I think i prefer a type of lecture where the material is more explictly explained. He likes to use many of his own examples in a general way. For some chapters you can do that. ALso I prefer more tests then just 3
Very knowledgeable teacher. But the exams are heavily weighted and they are difficult. You could think you did well and still end up with a bad grade on the tests. Minimal homework and attendance is not mandatory.
I actually did enjoy this class, especially since it was largely about buyer habits which made it actually relatable. Dr. Sicotte does so much to make his class easy to pass, such as an insanely curved grading scale (an 85% is an A). Attendance isn't mandatory, but read the lecutre slides if you miss class. Just study his notes and you'll be fine!
Amazing professor. Not an easy class, but you learn a lot in it. He is a really nice guy, and really loves Economics. I wish I had more professors like him. The tests are pretty difficult, you have no study guide. Just read the chapters is all you can do. If study hard, you will do fine!
As if economics isn't boring enough, he found a way to make it even worse. The only good thing about his class is that he adjust the grading scale which is only because of how bad kids have done in the past. Be prepared to fall asleep.
Economics is SO boring, but he makes it even worse. Nice man and loves Econ, but all he does is read his PowerPoints. Homework is super easy, and you get three tries on the quizzes. For exams its like trying to read a different language. Good luck if you take him.
Great teacher, nice guy, knows his stuff. Took him for summer session one. You can easily pass the class if you do all the online homework and quizzes. It is the tests that are a little more difficult, however he allows one sheet of notes front and back.
I really enjoyed Prof Sicotte's class. I had him for Macro Economics and I plan to take Micro Economics with him. In his class you have chapter Learning Curve assignments as well as chapter quizes all done online! Test can be tough but he lets you use a full sheet front and back on the test. He can seem boring at times but he knows his stuff!
All the homework and quizes are online. Tests are a majority of your grade and can be very difficult because they are mostly concept questions. Lets you use a cheet sheet for the tests and has the best grading scale!! Powerpoints are online too, really not necessary to go to class all the time.
Sicotte has good intentions, but the class was fairly difficult. Never seeked out in-person help outside of class (didn't have time), but he didn't exactly offer it either. Only class I've gotten worse than an A in at RVC. Definitely have to study to get an A. Tests are wordy and difficult. Very dry personality, but a decent teacher overall.
He knows his stuff! He likes student asking him question, just ask! He definitely will help you out. You will need to register for LanuchPad, doing LearningCurve and Graded Homework(quiz), you'll get 2 attempt to take the quiz. Pay attention and organise your cheat sheet will help a lot!
He LOVES economics, but I would suggest taking his class later in the day and not in the early morning. He wants students to interact with him and participate to be involved in discussion. His tests are somewhat hard if you do not study, but you will be fine if you just look over the chapters and homework. Sicotte knows what he is teaching.
Great teacher. Loves it when students involve themselves in discussion (I found this to be the best time to insert real world issues to in class discussion). Loves Economics and is really good at what he does and knows what he's talking about. I took him for both Macro and Micro. Go to class and you'll be fine.
Tests are over about 3 chapters. His lectures are a little long and sometimes are more stories and opinions rather then the material that is going to show up on your tests. No cumulative final just the last 4 chapters. He lets you have a front and back sheet of paper for each test (including the final). Take the reading hw seriously it will help
I had him for ECO 110 and 111. He's good at explaining everything and will help you if you need it. He makes the subject matter easier to understand. The homework isn't too bad and the tests are a bit hard so study!
The class is hard. He only lectures, doesn't write much on the board. Doesn't explain things very well. Tests are hard
Mr Sicotte is a steady, even instructor who clearly tests on the material he teaches. He's available when he says he is, and offers his opinions as just opinions. He doesn't propagandize, and teaches the Mises and Keynesian models equally. Really enjoyed his class.
Professor Sicotte is a great professor and really does want you to succeed in the class. If you have questions or problems, ASK! He's patient and willing to help. It's not the easiest course, but you learn a lot. I took both Macro and Micro and really enjoyed it and would recommend.
This IS THE MAN. HE IS THE ECONOMICS MACHINE. The class is super easy if you actually go to it. The only bad part is that he talks a lot about his personal life and I really didn't care about his water heater/life-etc. But he is really easy. I also didn't like the fact we used a 3rd party website for the homework
Great explanations in class. Really takes time to make sure everyone understands.
Great professor, just don't take early in the morning, since he has a soothing voice.
He is a really nice guy and likes what he does, but his lectures don't really have anything to do with the material and are really useless. I had to teach myself everything which was really hard, but he does allow you to use cheat sheets for tests.
He is a really nice guy, but the subject is just VERY hard
This was one of the hardest classes I've taken at RVC. Micro in general is a hard class but this was super hard. His lectures were confusing and I was lost most of the semester. Thankfully he curves grades so a 75% is a B.
Professor Sicotte is a great teacher. I was just definitely not mentally prepared for a 4 week hybrid class. I loved the material in the class and the launchpad interface was very helpful. The class was just too quick for me. It was just not enough time to absorb information for me.
There is a lot of outside class work (HW, practice quiz, videos), but if you get A's on those you can still pass the class getting all C's on the test. You're allowed to use one sheet of paper with notes for the tests and there is no final. He is super nice and lectures every class, but it is definitely super helpful.
He's a nice guy, but for students who don't have any prior knowledge of economics, you'll learn nothing in class. Most of his lectures don't match the assignments online. It's confusing and unorganized. This is my first time writing a review because I'm heavily disappointed and angry about his inability to teach.
I had him for the short-term class and it was fine. Lots of homework due throughout the week but not impossible. He also has 4 exams and did allow us to use the book. Make sure you read the book otherwise you won't understand the material. If you're thinking of taking the short term I recommend him.
There were so many assignments due each week. The subject itself is hard enough, let alone teaching yourself something you have no prior knowledge of. It was very confusing and I struggled with his class.
I had him online for ECO111 and decided to take him again for the full semester online ECO110. Honestly, the class is an easy A if you do well on the homework, just make sure to read the book for the exams. Definitely recommend him for both Econ classes, just don't take the short-term class if you don't have good time management skills.
He's a fine professor, but for my class he let online assignments teach us the information compared to him teaching the information. We used a software that taught us the information, never had a lecture or anything from him directly. But this class was easy to pass, you're allowed to use notes and textbooks on all exams.
His lectures were so incredibly boring. There was no visual aid or presentation- just a picture of the textbook. He usually goes off on tangents and it is so hard to determine what needs to be noted. I could never focus for the life of me. If you are not interested in Econ and easily bored do not take this class.
I took this class online for 8 weeks, and it was not the worst unless you did two chapters of homework the day it was due. He gave us the week to work on two chapters, and the worst part about it were the tests that were open from Saturday to Sunday, but they were open book, open note.
If I am being honest, no one really showed up to his lectures because they were boring. For me, it was much easier to just complete all the assignments on my own time and take my own notes from the textbook. As long as you complete the assignments on time you should pass. You do get about 5-6 assignments a week but you have from Monday to Sunday.
If you wish to understand the subject you're better off choosing another professor or teaching yourself. He assigns you the work at the beginning of the week, like 6 assignments but you have week to finish them. His lectures were boring as he only talked and didn't do much of going through the notes. The exams were open book so that's good I guess.
I took the online format of the class, it was decently easy as long as you kept up with the workload which was slightly heavy due to the shortened Summer format. Everything is out of the online textbook and taught through textbook videos, so he does not really teach at all, which is fine and pretty normal for an async class. Would recommend.
This is probably the most hands off professor I have ever had. The program he has you sign up for to take the class already grades you and is basically being taught by two other economics professors that have a youtube series that hasn't been updated in 8 years with the work being tied to the videos
This professor used a third party educational website for the entire course. The website graded everything for him. I didn't hate the course, but it sure was uninspiring! It discourages me seeing more and more professors do this type of thing these days... This is just another class that adds towards your degree, nothing more. Rating: 5 / 10
This guy was funny. Sometimes he'd go through homework questions in class, which was nice. Homework, exams, and quizzes are all online. Weekly homework and quizzes with YouTube videos to watch. It was easy to pass but not very interesting.
I did not show up to this class for months. I would say class is for extra understanding but the book explains itself pretty well. Open note exams and I understand it more than I used to.
