He is very good at keeping your attention and at relating to you in a way that you understand the subject. Shows a great sense of humor and is very approachable. Has an awesome body, too!

He was a great teacher.He got off the topic a lot,but when he did you were still learning what he was supposed to be teaching.He also has many interesting stories if you ask the right questions.If he came back,I would take more communications classes.

This guy rocks. He's entertaining, informative, and passionate about his subject. After this class, I looked at communication in an entirely different way, thanks to his methods of practical application. I especially appreciated his interest in learning more about what his students felt were his strengths and what wasn't, and using that info.

This teacher is annoying, he goes off topic alot and trys to educate students on things he doesnt even know about. He stereotypes people and treats them accordingly. I like the class but not the teacher.

This was a great class, it's obviously that Charles does this for pleasure vs. to make an extra buck, he'll go the distance for you as long as you put in the effort. As stated before he does like to do a lot of talking.. but it's college and if you don't line it you're allowed to switch classes. I highly recommend this class

Charles is a great teacher, he will definitely talk your ears off, but is good at tying in life stories to what he is teaching, which makes it a lot more interesting. He doesn't hold back when it comes to touchy subjects, so don't take the class if you can't handle it, but I do highly recommend his classes.

Prof Silver is hands down the coolest teacher at MCC. His teaching style helps make communication interesting and fun. He often uses personal stories to better illustrate concepts from the book. Going to his lectures is the best part of the class. The tests are almost straight from the book, so study the book before the test.

I enjoyed his class a lot. His tests were difficult but a little bit of studying, common sense, and paying attention in class made them manageable. The work load was extremely light. Papers were short and graded fairly. We didn't cover everything but that was only because class discussion was encouraged and we all had a hard time staying on track.

Great teacher. Has the energy that keeps a class going. Shares lots of stories that always come back to an example of how it ties to text book :) The homework really makes you prove that you know the material your talking about rather than just memorization. Overall, best teacher ive had.

Great Professor- considered changing my major just to take more classes from him. He's highly entertaining and really energetic. The whole class had a good time and had really positive energy. Be warned though if you're are easily offended or sensitive you might want to reconsider this class.

I've never been disappointed a class was over, until now. The instructor brings the material to life & class discussions not only make the material relatable but everything needed for exams is covered. I was dreading going into a communications class, but soon realized there was nothing to dread! Charles made the lecture fun, entertaining, and interesting. I was absolutely terrified of speaking in front classes. Charles really helped me to understand how to get over the fear and made speech giving a safe thing to allow you to get comfortable. If you listen to his lecture he also gives you most of the answers to the tests. He also allows you to submit papers ahead of time for corrections.

Charles was amazing!! I loved the class we had and we all grew close and didn't want the semester to end. He will tell you about a horse named Reason To Study and the term "brewble." Altogether it's a fun class taught by a teacher with a "Napoleonic Complex!" Totally worth it though! Definitely my favorite class at MCC yet!!

Charles is chatty but the class was fun. This was a class I needed for my educational path. We had a great group in our class, which made getting up in front of everyone easier. Charles does work with you via email when you need help. The syllabus schedule is a little crazy. But oh well. You have to know how to take Charles who likes to joke.

A lot of information to gain if you listen, since he's knowledgeable (and opinionated) on many subjects, but this also means the timeline in the syllabus is relatively useless and fluid. He is very knowledgeable in his subject and has no problem stopping to explain certain criteria into further detail. If I had to complete another Communications course, there's no doubt I would choose his class again.

I felt like none of the work was busy work and truly learned in this class. The speeches are not the most fun but you do learn from each of them.

Initially I was not excited that I had to take a Public Speaking class. I'm so glad I chose Charles's class. Learned quite a bit. Charles has an interesting perspective on things and I'm glad I was exposed to that. Would def take another class from him.

I absolutely loved this class! I love public speaking but I didnt think I was going to learn so much. Yes, Mr. Charles loves to talk and sometimes the schedule will be a little off, but you will learn so much not just about the class but about life. Despite having to wake up at 6am, I enjoyed coming in because it was a fun/informative class.

I was very nervous about taking public speaking but Charles is one of the best professor's I've ever had. He makes the class so much more enjoyable and easier to be at especially at 7:30am. His expectations are high which makes the class hard but Charles helps you out so much. His lectures can get long and will run over time.

The biggest criticism I can give is that he wasn't prepared for the Corona and heavily over-estimated how much work he could get in so-and-so time. Pre-Corona it was a great class, the guy has a lot of personality in his lectures. I also appreciate that he sticks to what he believes even if it can be controversial, makes for good talks.

The class is designed to meet you at your level of experience, and even if you are naturally charismatic, you must work for a good grade. He mainly teaches by anecdote, which in a speaking course lends itself better to those who listen intently. If you do, there is a lot to learn.

Public speaking isnt my favorite thing on the plant, but Charles was very helpful in the way he taught to help one learn how to be a successful public speaker. He does get off track quite frequently and often will change the schedule accordingly, but if you participate and ask questions he is very helpful and gives the best information possible.

Public Speaking freaks me out... Charles makes it easier. He spent a lot of time helping us calm down and get better. He's great at answering questions and figures out what we need. Class is a weird mix of lecture, discussion, lecture-videos, and LOTS of outside work on outlines and evidence. Quizzes are cake, as he gives the answers in videos

How do I start? He is a great guy and is hilarious but sometimes he can get off track, sometimes we would have a great discussion on class material and then go to joking. A very strict grader which is reasonable has a lot of expectations for you. Helped me overcome some nervousness due to public speaking.

He is a really great professor and I would 100% take his class again. However, we do tend to have a lot of discussions in the class with a lot of great information that does not really tie into what is needed for the class. We do not have a lot of assignments to go off of but for the most part, he genuinely cares about us as his students.

Very knowledgeable and personable teacher & speaker. He grades pretty easily but you will spend at LEAST 5 hours on each speech. If you want to be a better speaker and learn something for your future, take this class. If you want to breeze through a course, I'd try something else. His class is very fun and he doesn't restrict topics for speeches!

I'd say he's easily distracted and doesn't use canvas in a way that helps students. His lectures have little to do with the course and he'll talk more about himself than anything else. As a public speaker though, he's funny, well spoken and sarcastic. Get ready for a good, confusing, but useful semester and ignore canvas besides quizzes.
