Very clear and straightforward! Open book exams except they are essay exams!!
Keep your attention with his dry humor. Funny guy. Open book test!
Very funny and interesting
Open book tests, no oral projects, no papers, and interesting
Very good professor. I learned a lot and had a good time. Funny and cute!

Great and easy teacher! Tests are easy, open books, notes, and anything else. He is hilarious.
Smith is a very funny guy! And I guess he is kinda cute in his own weird way. His class is pretty easy if you take good notes! His tests are open book and notes, but his questions can be a little tricky.
cool class!!!!
He's really good as long as you take notes and read the book. He has an open book test but you can answer it as long as you did your part. Tip: Highlight very important terms on the book and put a tab on the chapters assigned during exams!
Overall, the class is easy. His legal experience makes those boring law understandable. Sometimes he has some weird jokes though. No projects and homeworks, but tests are kind of tricky.
No more open note test's, but he still makes whatyou need to learn clear. He's a fun teacher, total cool about everything, and understanding if you can't make it or you need help.
He's a good professor as long as you take notes and read. He is a strange guy and usually makes stupid jokes. He likes to embarrass people in front of class. You can miss class as often as you'd like, and he could care less.
The class sounds easy with open note/book tests and no attendance necessary, but it still is difficult. However, Smith is the best professor making the most boring law cases fun, plus he is a HOTTIE!
He gives very difficult test and he is not easy at all...but overall if you read and try hard your will pass. He trys to crack funny jokes too which makes him not boring.
Kick back guy...tests may have been openbook, but still challenging...interest lawyer stories...
Open book tests, but exams are hard. He made the class very entertaining.
I like the class, but I wish you were able to earn more points other than 3 tests and a case brief. funny but rude!
just gotta read the material and you pass. you can even download his powerpoints and study off those and pass. no more open book tests though.
"Gee wiz" "That is just ridiculous" He is one of the funniest professors I have ever had. Very entertaining. I recommend anyone to take him. Exams are hard but this is college.
Smith is one of those professors who you would be lucky to have! Although the subject material can be boring, he tries to give students some humor. Open book tests, no attendance policy, and usually out of class early. Not too shabby.
This class is pretty much common sense. He is kinda nerdy and sarcastic, but a great teacher. Print out the powerpoints to go along with him in class and do the case briefs on time, and you will get a good grade!
Great teacher, looks just like Tom Hanks.Tests can be hard but it's open book so you just have to take your time and read the questions carefully.Relates a lot of his own experiences and are quite laid back. You can't go wrong taking him.chau
First of all... DONT BUY THE BOOK. All you need to do is print out the power point presentations. Everything from in the tests are from the powerpoints. He says his tests are hard, but they are EASY!! Just memorize PowerPoint and take the practice exams
Take him! He is very helpful and quick with eamils. Power Point is very helpful. Take notes of all his examples in calss, and you will see those again in exams. 15 pages term paper is too long for summer class. He is kind of cute.
Take his class, especially for mgmt 518 (Legal Env. of Bus) becuz it's a boring subject. He makes the class interesting and the group problems make the class less boring. He know his stuff, interacts w/ students, and is very funny.
A business law instructor with a JD. What a concept! Don't miss this opportunity to study with this fantastic professor. Tests are fair as long as you actually pay attention and want to learn something. Contribute to class discussions, it can only help.
He is a very intelligent man who makes an honest attempt to make the class interesting by cracking jokes here and there and getting students involved. Learn overall theories and not specifics. Participate!!!
The BEST. You don't need the book, just the powerpoint slides. Study the practice exam and slides for the tests and you'll be fine. Grades are based on a curve too yay!
He is a lawyer so this class is very informative. Great teacher, not serious at all and looks like Tom Hanks. His tests are hard but can easily get an A or B if you attend class and read the book!
Funny guy, he keeps you awake.
Stimulating lectures & GREAT examples. Love the humor.
fav quote: "Just think what you learn in this class"
Great professor! I learned a lot in his class without reading the book. Pay close attention to his examples he gives in class cuz it would be on his test. One of the best teachers i've ever taken.
hes funny and all but his tests are so tricky. thought this was going to be an easy class but its hard to get good grades. one advice for taking his class: STUDY
Not an easy class. Attendance is important to pass the exams. Don't buy a book, because you wont need it. Exams extremely hard and tricky- muliple choice, but all choices seem very similar. Get you confused. Maybe 5 A's in the class, most grades are C's. Take him if you like law and funny professors
Lectures are interesting, and keeps the class going with his humor. The exams are really tricky though because there can be two answers on the multiple choice that are very similar or one answer is slightly better than the next.
Great professor - funny, intelligent, good twisted examples. Show up and participate - it's 25% of your grade. Get the book - exams are open book and can help in a jam. Just don't call him Chuck.
Tests come straight out of in class lectures/powerpoint. Go to class and pay attention--plus he's somewhat comical
class is somewhat easy but da tests are pretty tricky, mutiple choice, but it always seem there are two correct answers. so usually a 50/50 chance to get the right answer. hes a nice guy though, tries to make the subject interestin with his little stories. not sure i would take him again though.
Good professor. He's very comical and the class is fun to go to. There are four exams that make your grade plus attendance. Go to class and study your notes and powerpoint slides and you should be fine. I got a 'B'.

Professor Smith teaches well. You need to attend class and pay attention. Don't forget to study from his power point lectures. Study and read each exam question carefully before answering. It's an interesting subject matter.
He is a very good professor. He goes over the material and gives you very good examples to clarify even further. the tests are O.K. all from the lectures. makes sure to take good notes. It will learn so much and he is very funny.
he was a BAD teacher. the only reason you see good ratings is because he has all the bad comments deleted. what kinda teacher does that?? no life. he cant teach, makes everything all confusing and tests are so tricky. there are always 2 answers, his and the books, so you have to know his.
Smith is an excellent teacher. Implements real-life situations with the material taught in class. His tests are pretty hard though, but you learn A LOT from him. If you're looking to butt-slide your way to an A, don't take him, but if you want to learn the material, definitely take him.
Dont listen to 3 guys below me. This guy is a pretty decent teacher. Dont buy the book, and study the powerpoints offline. i got an "easy" B
A great professor, you learn a lot in his class & not just law stuff. His tests are not so bad if you come class, the examples he gives in class are on the test and read the case studies in the book, they help out. Overall he is a great professor and is an easy class.
He's a cool teacher, as long as you go to class! Write down every example he gives in lectures and study those along with the cases in the book and do the practice test! You'll be fine although you might feel like you are doing terrible.
WARNING: His class can be extremely easy. If your looking to get an easy "A" while catching up on your sleep this is the class. His exams are based on his power pt lectures. Finally, if your looking to hook up this is the class. Most of the classes he teaches you will find that most of the hottest girls can be found in his class.
I can't say he's easy because his class only consists of pure exams with tricky multiple choices. As long as you go to class and listen to his stories and examples, you will do well on the exams. Be sure to print out his lectures and take notes on his stories instead. No reading required. He makes really corny and weird jokes and gives out rewards.
His class wasn't that easy but it was entertaining. He gives powerpoints and his tests can be tricky. He uses examples that he uses in class. I always thoguht he looked a lil like Tom Hanks.
His class was great! All you need to do is print out the provided powerpoint presentations, go to class, and add any notes that will help you remember the info. There were rarely any tricky questions on his tests, not if you came to class all the time! He's a good teacher, and besides that a real person with a real life!
he's nice, but his tests are ridicious... there are sometimes more than one answer~~ o.O and doesn't even tell you which ones
Class can be hard if you don't attend regularly. Be sure to take very good notes - his stories, examples discussed in class will be on exams. Also, speak up in class - participation points (~14% grade) could lower you down to one grade.
Cool guy, makes corney jokes but some of them are worth laughing at!
Well for starters hes a cross between Eugene Levy and Tom Hanks, personality of Eugene(The dad in amerian pie. Nice guy lectures arent too bad, its clear and goes along with the book plus he ehes from the power point for good grade just go to class and read setions in book that are on powerpoint slides, he has jeans in every color of the rainbow!!
this ia a gear and interesting class. just study powerpoint notes and write down expamples. his test are tricky so study hard and u will do well. tom hanks rules. i mean professor smith rules
Smith is a really chill teacher that helps those who put in the effort to pass the class. Just don't slack off, show up, take good notes and you should do fine. For the exams just study the notes and the powerpoints he puts up and you should be good. Very nice person and he also likes metal which is always a plus in my book. METALLICA RULES!!!!
Very easy class and you learn a lot. open note tests can be a little tricky. one paper. If you want to meet chicks take this class.
Tests are long and tricky. Tests are open notes and open book but is very hard. 3 test and 1 paper. His grading scale is not good. He expects that every of his class there will be an "A, B, C, D, and F" grade. Barely pass with a "C". Not recommended !!
I must say that he's in his own littel world. I higly recommend his class because his exams are extremely easy even a chimpanzee could pass his class. However, if you are looking to get an easy "A" while trying to catch up on your sleep this is the class. I would sleep in his class while he would lecture that I manage to pass his class with a "B".
SMITH IS SOOO TIGHT! He makes the class fun w/ his stories... good examples to illustrate the concepts he teaches... Tests are easy to pass if you look @ study guide and pay attention in class. Just show up and listen.. No notes no HARD CORE STUDYING and you will pass no problem...
He's ok, just 3 exams and no hw or anything, which by the way is good; however, it would of help IF HE DID HAVE HW OR QUIZZES, otherwise too many materials to memorize for the final, i like his personality but NOT HIS TEACHING!!! his exams are sometimes trick you in a way so really study for that and good luck.
His tests do sometimes trick you in a way that there could be 2 right answers. Even though they're mc but they make you think alot. He tells funny jokes by the way and attendance is up to him. Even if you do show up everyday, he would give only 5/10pts unless he really knows you by name then full credit for you. Pretty lame don't you think?
1) Class Grade Average: Low "C" ( for my class). 2) Exams: Multiple Choice- consist of short story. 3)Grading: fair; however to get full 10/10 pts for participation/attendence; must know your name when semester ends. 3) Have to retake again. Anyway, its better to have a good overall GPA in your business courses. As & Bs so far except this class.
Class attendance is optional and not really necessary if you do the reading and study the PowerPoints. The tests are hypothetical cases that test the concepts learned in the PowerPoints. Not very helpful, but he is funny.
A lot of materials you must use your head to fully integrate the info to your head, otherwise this course could kill you for sure. He tells cool jokes but his tests are very challenging.
Super Awseome! Funny great professor read the book, pay attention, Easy A
that's because it was his first time teaching 440. BEWARE his jokes are really offensive sometimes. he's harder at law because he practiced law.
Barely uses the book at all. Go to class, listen to the lectures, study the powerpoints and you should be able to get a good grade in the class.
He's funny - it keeps you paying attention... no hw
exams and couple of quizzes, NO HW at all, study for those exams
keeps the class interesting but his tests are tricky. if you go to class then you do not need the book. its a big waste of money.
not a bad teacher
if you go to class everyday, you'll pass and u dun need to buy the book, study off his powerpoint. exams arent that tricky but you gotta understand the concepts. in order to do well u also gotta participate cuz he'll curve u if he knows you. overall interesting class boring at times. would recommend. but u gotta go to class to learn the material!
This class is pretty easy, he just lectures every day and your grade is only based on 3 multiple choice exams and attendence/participation. He's definitely easier to pay attention to than most proffessors. To pass his tests all you really need is common sense, but some questions can be tough if you don't know the concepts. Can do without the book.
dont buy the book. very interesting class, but tests are hard if you dont study. id take him again.
Just show up to class, read the powerpoint, maybe buy the book if you feel like (I did and I read it and it helps a bit). Seriously show up to class, the guy's hilarious!
For those said he's easy. yeh the tests were just 3 midterms, 1 final. Multip. choice. but it kinna tricky, but didnt really did good the first 2, but since then i try to take note got a 21/25 on the 3rd exam. This class is mostly law, kinna boring, but at same time interesting. well take him if u like MC tests =]
Don't need book. Powerpoints and lectures is all you need. He's got a sarcastic sense of humor. Tests are hard if you don't study, otherwise just standard multiple choice - and he gives you tips on how to take his own tests the easy way. Cool guy, talks real world a lot.
Good teacher. I didn't read much of the book because his lectures were so good that I didn't need to. Plus I felt that I learned a lot in his class.
This man is one of the best professors at CSUF. He knows his stuff. He's funny and looks like Tom Hanks. Dont buy the book, i did and never opened it. 4 tests all MC, no essays, all powerpoint lectures. Go to class since its all lecture. Trust me it helps.
wut can i say the easiest teacher ever
easy class, super easy, gives u everything u need to know on ppt and do not go to class, maybe just once a week. Got a B.
Funny professor! Knows his stuff VERY well. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT NEED THE BOOK. BUT THIS ONLY APPLIES IF YOU PLAN TO SHOW UP TO CLASS DAILY! (Why not do that if you can save a $100 or so for a book right?) He curves at the END which is helpful. ALL his tests are 25 ques. and MC! TAKE HIM!!! You won't regret it.
SUPER EASY CLASS!!! DO NOT NEED BOOK JUST GO TO CLASS AND LISTEN TO LECTURE! test r only 25 questions and final is 50! practice exams r very helpful, practically the same questions on the exams. TAKE THIS TEACHER! REALLY FUNNY N NICE!
The funniest professor I have ever had. He will crack you up the whole period while teaching you a thing or two about law. You will wonder sometimes, "did he just say that?" or "is he aloud to say that?" Today was the final and before he passed the test out he said "If you want go choke the chicken before i pass out the tests"haha. Oh and by the w
you need to attend class to get points, but the class time is a waste. Overall good teacher, if it's a class you need, take smith.
Yes, he is easy but, his exams are tricky. I wish he had assignments so that our grades would be higher. I barely passed. He lectures off powerpoints & thats basically it. I recommend going to class bc he gives A LOT of examples that are ON THE TEST & they're NOT on the powerpoint. I think students say he's easy because he doesnt have assignments.
he's somewhat easy. your grade is basically 4 quizzes and a final if i remember correctly. he likes to use his ex wife in lecture examples a lot. he's a good kid.
Prof. Smith is very funny and his lectures are interesting. No need to buy textbook, just go to his class and understand the powerpoint and you'll be safe. Gives helpful study guide (example questions from old exams). Cases on the test are sometimes the same as the old exams, only change the questions a little bid. Easy A
Hes a great teacher and great guy.He is so funny and makes every topic fun and interesting. He is extremely knowledgeable knows his stuff.Test can be tricky but just study off the powerpoints and his practice tests and you'll do fine. Definitely attend class because his lecture are useful during tests. His class is fun you'll wanna attend everyday
Easy class. No HW (although there should have been an assignment or two, as it would have helped) and you don't need the book. Study the powerpoints. I took good notes, went to class every day, and got A's/B's on the tests...2 points away from an A and he gave me a B. My lesson and advice: PARTICIPATE, make sure he knows your name, and kiss ass!
Looks somewhat like Tom hanks with glasses. Dislikes white socks.
He talks way too much about himself. Very useless. He only has 2 exams and a final so you're screwed. His lectures are straight from the powerpoint and useless. Basically, I would not recommend him. MGMT is supposed to be easy!
Prof. Smith's class is great. He is very knowledgeable about the subject matter. He's really funny. Someone posted his class was useless. Whatever. You have to come to class and study. Obviously the person who wrote that comment doesn't come to class or studies and that's too bad beause maybe they would learn something if they did.
Best professor I've had so far! He is real easy going, tells funny jokes, extremely helpful, has lots of experience in the subject, which makes the class much more interesting. All you have is 2 multiple choice exams and the final, they are directly from the powerpoints, not hard at all in my opinion. There's no HW & no quizzes. Dont buy the book!
No HW, just midterms and the final, so study! Did not even crack the textbook. He is so FUNNY and I actually looked forward to his class. One of the best professors I've had in a while. Definitely the best choice for MGMT. Pay attention and go over lectures and you're golden.
Funny professor. Could probably make it in stand-up. Gives real world examples of material from his experience as a lawyer. No hw. Go to class. Study power pts. Light reading. Get an A. Best and most understanding mgmt 246 prof you can take.
Funny professor. Could probably make it in stand-up. Gives real world examples of material from his experience as a lawyer. No hw. Go to class. Study power pts. Light reading. Get an A. Best and most understanding mgmt 246 prof you can take.
Professor Smith is well spoken and clear in his presentation. Never ceases to keep your attention in one way or another. i disagree with the tom hanks look-a-like comment... a little closer to larry david with a little eugene from american pie sprinkled on top. enjoyed the class!
Keeps class fun and entertaining while still effectively teaching the class. Gives real life examples to help better understand concepts. 3 exams and a cumulative final. Gives practice exams and uses a lot of the exact questions on the exams he gives so take advantage of that!! highly recommend for mgmt 246
Three midterm exams and one cumulative final. Review old exams and you'll be fine. Lectures are just PowerPoints, kind of boring but he is very knowledgeable and gives a lot of examples.
I took his 7-9:45 class the class we had 2 test and a non-comprehensive final. Class be be a bit slow but attendance is encouraged since some of his examples in class are on the test. I bought the book but didn't use it.
Funny, likes to tell jokes. Real life examples make concepts easy to remember. 7-9:40PM class had 2 midterms and 1 "Final", which was more like a 3rd midterm. Lots of questions from the practice test are on the exams. I didn't crack the book once and still got an A. I looked forward to going to his class and would definitely recommend him.
Nice, test are fair, study the powerpoints and the sample questions, he uses the sample questions on the test. Show up and participate, he gives points for participating.
Prof Smith is a funny guy and overall good professor. Teaches off powerpoint and real life examples. Tests are straightforward but given thats its law, questions are tricky so test can be hard. Attendance not mandatory. Grade is ONLY 3 Exams.I went to class regularly and did some studying and got a C- (not passing!) does not claim or appear to curve
This is a great professor! Easy summer class. If you are a management major take any class that he's teaching. He likes to focus on law. Attend class & participate in discussions and you should do good.
His tests are almost identical to his sample tests but still look over the ppts for "new" questions that he will put on there. Attendance is not mandatory but you lose points every class you miss. Essay was pretty easy and was a group effort if you want. 3 tests, first two are 25 questions with one essay. Last is one essay with 50 questions. Easy A
Very EASY, just have to put a small amount of time to study! Takes questions off old tests. gives pop quizes to see who is attending class. I didnt buy the book, I studied for an hour for each test, I went to class, and I passed with a B+. EASY TEACHER!
LIves in his own world. I know more about his past cases than I do business law.
Highly recommend. Uses very funny examples from real world. study the practice exams and take notes on everything he says in class, even the silly stories because they may be on the test or help you answer questions on the practice exam. DO well on the first part of the first exam because they will only get more difficult. A++ teacher, take him
He's so witty, looking forward to his class everyweek. Give practice exams so if you do the practice exams, you will be fine
Awesome professor! The first two sections/midterms were based off the same material from his 246 class. The final third is when he gets into small businesses. He's very flexible: one midterm became a group takehome, and he lets you complete the paper as a group as well. I didn't buy the book, practice exams are word for word the midterms.
Don't buy the book, it is waste of money. all what you need to get an A is to attend the class, pay attention, and take notes, review you notes for an hour before the exam and do the practice exam since many question are almost the same. if you don't attend the class, you might fail since most of the question are straight from the lecture.
He is very straightforward. His first exam for me was not very similar to his practice exam. So I would suggest you know the subject matter as well for the 1st exam. The paper wasnt too bad if you get a good group of ppl you should be good. the 2nd exam was exactly like the practice exam which was awesome. So study the practice exam for the final.
Amazing professor! Extremely helpful in explaining law. He gives you practice exams which make the tests a breeze. Smith is also very funny and cheerful, you don't need the book and i'm honestly going to miss having him as a professor. TAKE HIM!
Teaching is very straightforward. DON'T BUY THE BOOK! Must attend class, because tests are based on lectures and the practice exams. Study those and you'll pass with flying colors!
Professor Smith is awesome! He really knows his subject well and make sure all the student's follow the point he is trying to get out by using real life examples. Finds his ways by keeping the class active with his jokes here and there also! Highly recommended!
Take him! Really easy. He makes funny jokes during class to liven up the dull subject. Don't need the book. 4 "surprise quizzes" that you need to be in class for, easy points. Go over the old exams he puts online before the tests. Very helpful.
Seriously Smith is one of the BEST in CSUF! A guy who's also a long time experienced lawyer with a lot of knowledge! This guy knows his stuff and puts them in the most easiest way to understand! You must attend classes and read PowerPoints! Don't buy the book, he's the book! Just attend all the classes and enjoy his great lectures! TAKE HIM!
He is an ok professor. He attempts to use powerpoint in lieu of a textbook(which is great),but the slides move by quickly and are not discussed in depth very much. He can be funny, but at times it is at the expense of his students. Study the practice tests and you'll do fine. Be there for the quizzes, they are easy.
Smith is super chill. Class is made entertaining by the way he tries to get you to interact and sometimes he goes offtrack talking about his life - hes a normal dude. Participate and don't be afraid to be yourself in his class. He keeps it laid back so you feel more open! I'd take him again if he taught any more classes I needed. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Highly recommend smith for Bus Law. Overall a good class, 3 exams worth 30% each. All are based on the lecture + power points. Also gives previous exams as study guide. There are also 5 surprise quizzes, they are easy points and worth 2% of your grade each! So make sure you go to every class session. Don't waste your money on the book!
2-3 exams and a comprehensive final. The exams consist of 20 M/C and two essay questions each. He also has you do one 15pg group paper. His class is very easy. All questions come directly from his powerpoints (which is short!) and the cases he has in his powerpoint. You only need the book to read about the cases.
Cool teacher. Looks, acts and talks like Tom Hanks. 2 Midterms, 1 Final. All Scantron. 5 surprise quizzes. No paper and no hw. Just study his powerpoint and you will be good.
VERY EASY! No textbook, just study lecture material. He has tons of real world, practical experience. Not the most exciting stuff biz law is but it is useful. Gives 5 pop quizzes which basically are the attendance grade. Study the guides and take notes on powerpoint and you will have no problems passing this class. Funny, quirky guy. Recommend! ;-)
Smith is a decent professor in terms of the structure of his class but he spends an entire lecture on 1/2 slides because of his stories. Funny guy, easy tests, project, participation points. Easy pass
Do not need the book. Your tests are based on the powerpoint information he gives you. No homework, just quizzes and tests. Final isn't cumulative. Little points in the class since there aren't any projects or homework.
You don't need the book. Though, you need to listen to all the lectures! The topic can be really boring, so a lot doze off or they don't show up. He does uses ppts that are crucial to the exam, but because its technical, you won't understand unless you pay attention to him. He gives examples and defines all terms that will be your A on the exam.
Don't get the textbook, waste of money. Everything is on the PowerPoint slides. Class not mandatory but in your best interest to attend. Most test questions based on class examples. 2 midterms 1 final. 5 "surprise" quizzes. No homework! Tests wording can be tricky but hey, it's law. Funny guy, overall good class.
Don't get the textbook. Didn't use it one time all semester. Great teacher though. Only downfall of the class is that there are only 170 points so there is minimal room for error if you want a b or an a.
last semester I had this class w/steven cote and I failed it but this semester I retook the class with this with prof smith and I passed with B. the subject is not easy however, he makes it easy to understand. I had his class @ night but I didn't regret it he let us leave early almost everyday. he spend so much time on one slid which I don't like
Smith is a funny professor, however tends to get side tracked with stories in class. He is extremely helpful in explaining topics if you don't understand fully. If you go to his office hours, he will explain every question you have. Highly recommend.
great teacher, only 2 midterms and 1 final and 5 surprise quizzes, study off his powerpoints and listen to his stories in his lectures for the test and you will be just fine
My favorite class I've taken. 2 midterms, 4 open note surprise quizzes and a non-comprehensive final. I got a B on all of them (he rounded my final grade to an A which was awesome), studied the power point for maybe a couple hours. DO THE PRACTICE EXAMS, questions literally word-for-word on the test! His in class examples are on the tests too!
he is very nice to students, if you don't do good on the exam you can always go to his office hour ask for help. his exams are not every hard, if you read and understand his lecture notes you can get at least B on the exam. take him, he is the best professor for mgmt department!
Great Professor! Very funny and makes class subject more interesting. Attend class because some stuff he says are on the exam.
I had this class once a week on Mondays and it was so boring. The first test is pretty much MGMT 246. The worst part about this class is he didn't put up the answer key for the practice test and doesn't grade homework based on effort.
Straightforward class. 3 tests. 4 pop quizzes to make sure you go to class. Tests can get kinda tough but he likes to copy paste some of the questions from the study guides. Pop quizzes are open note and you can use friends to help. Would definitely recommend.
Attendance is mandatory because he gives random pop quizzes. He acts as if he wants you to fail. Three exams, 5 RANDOM quizzes. He believes that the scores reflected on tests and quizzes are from us, not him. HA
Professor Smith is an overall great guy. Always makes jokes & tries to keep lectures interesting. The class consists of 4 quizzes & 3 exams. the quizzes are all RANDOM so you must stay til the end of class. Exams are similar to prac exam but are still difficult. Book is unnecessary just review powerpoints and GO TO CLAS. got a C for missing 2 quiz
How to pass with an A 1. DONT BUY THE Book 2. Go to class for the pop quizzes (easiest things ever) they are open notes, book, you can work with a neighbor or just shout it out and he doesn't mind. 3. exam questions come from in class exams so its an easy A and B class. Copy down the examples he uses bc those will come out on test & do studyguide
Is a cool and pretty funny guy. Don't buy the book. Study his PPTs. Questions from the practice exams will be on the exams, if not similar ones so make sure you understand the question and apply it to the concept. Gives six pop quizzes that are easy so don't miss class because those are easy points.
Smith is a good professor. 3 tests 2 of them are 40 question. Last final 50 questions. 5 pop quizzes. U don't have to come to class. But u will miss the quizzes. Be careful. He only has 3 tests. If u screwed up on one. It could burry u alive. And u don't need books. Do go to class. Some of his test questions he talks about it in class. And PPT
Go to class! His examples may seem irrelevant but they explain every term in every PowerPoint. Write them all down so you can study them later! Fun class, very knowledgeable.
He's awesome
He went off on tangents even during his office hours. Tough grader for a 200 class.
4 quizzes and 3 tests, tests are tough, the teachers lectures are not boring and he keeps it interesting.
He's nice, but his class is hard. Take notes or you won't pass. The pop quizzes are easy and you can talk to the other students. The lectures are long and he goes off topic all the time. He teaches the class like it's common sense.
STUDY POWERPOINTS. How to pass the class - Make flashcards from power points .and study the exam reviews. Unfortunately that will only give you up to a C. To earn an A, you must learn all the concepts. This guy is out to get the students, he's the kind of guy to give pop quizzes after an exam. Kind of a smart ass. If you miss 1 quiz, thats -8%.
Took it Summer 2016 with Smith and pass. He gives four surprise quizzes, and they are easy. You get to work with your classmates. There are three exams, and they are rigorous. To do well on the exams go over the powerpoints, try to understand the concepts, take notes, do the practice exam, and go to his office hours to ask for help.
Took it this summer. 4 quizzes and 3 exams. Quizzes are easy. You can talk with your classmates or find answer in PPT. Exams are a little bit tougher, but if you understand the concepts in PPT, you will pass. He is really a good professor and he tries to make class interesting.
Great professor. Took it in summer. 2 test and one group paper assignment. Lecture is interesting but kind of long discussion. overall fun summer class.
This professor was amazing. Smith is a very good pro He is funny and makes the class interesting. I had the class at night for 3 hours every Wednesday at the end of a 13 hour school day, and never missed a class. It was genuinely interesting, I could have ditched without penalty, but I just didn't want to. Highly recommend this professor
When lecturing, Professor Smith provides many examples to help students understand the concept. Write down these examples, as they will be on the exam. The book is not needed, but be sure to study the PowerPoints, write down his examples, and do the practice exams. In order to answer his questions, you MUST understand each concept.
THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT HE DOESNT GO OVER THE EXAMS. AND HE DOESNT EVEN MAKE SURE THAT EXAMS DONT HAVE ANY ERRORS ONCE EVERYONE TOOK IT. FOUND MULTIPLE Qs THAT I GOT RIGHT THAT WERE MARKED WRONG. Other than that he's awesome.
This class is not easy! Take notes, and write down the examples he goes through in class. Practice exams usually has some questions that will appear on the exam. Make sure to understand the concepts in order to pass. He curved the class at the end, but make sure to pass it without the curve (It's not the same case each semester).
If your international student do not take this class with this professor. He does not explain well plus his test are really hard to understand especially when english is not your first langage. He writes his exams himself and make it as hard as he can. Don't take his class!!!!!!!!! If I could give him 0 stars I would.
It's not mandatory to attend class BUT if you want to understand the concepts then it's needed. A lot of the scenarios on the tests are said during lecture. Write them ALL DOWN. Trust me. He's really funny but sometimes you can start to fade away. and sleep. But try not to. 3 tests & 1 final. No hwk, essays, or study guides. Just practice tests.
You have to show up to class because he gives random pop quizzes that you're allowed to use your notes on/work with as many classmates as you want. If you miss 1 quiz, drop your grade by a letter grade. His lectures are boring and he rambles a lot. You'll fail the class if you only memorize words. You have to truly understand the concept. Not bad.
Won't let you make up pop quizzes for excusable school events. Very few things that make up your grade: 3 exams and 4 pop quizzes. Attendance is mandatory for pop quizzes. Tests are hard and specific. Says he'll curve the class but definitely didn't.
Your grade is weighted primarily from 3 exams. Exams are not cumulative. There are 4 pop up quizzes which are incredibly easy, so make sure to attend class. I think this class is an easy B, but its definitely a bit difficult to reach that A range. Its possible though if you put in the effort, which is essentially reading the text book thoroughly.
One pop quiz question one question on the exam. Definitely hard for an A but easy B/C if memorized all vocabs and their applications. Pay attention to examples given in class and practice questions/answers. Usually goes off on a tangent when giving examples. Dry humor and dad jokes but made the class bearable. Highly recommended and good luck!
LISTEN. TO. THE. LECTURE. All of the examples he provides in class are not on the powerpoints but usually show up on the tests verbatim. Taking the practice tests is essential to doing well on the exams. I found study in groups was really helpful and the questions on the tests are scenarios. Look to the book for more examples too.
Tests are of moderate difficulty but Smith is hilarious. Pop quizzes are easy points. Just read the slides to past the tests. Def. would take Smith again in another class if I attend this school again.
write down all of the examples he gives in class, even if they sound too corny. those are on the exams. He doesn't assign homework so you have very little wiggle room to mess up on test, which are not easy. The reason he rubbed me the wrong way is for his constant racist jokes which were more insulting than funny.
Professor Smith is a good professor. Attend his office hours. Gives out 10 written assignments and only grades 1 of them. Look over the study guide, it is a helpful tool. Law is considered a difficult subject. Out of all the law professors at CSUF, Professor Smith is the least annoying compared to the rest of the faculty who teaches law.
By far the best law professor at CSUF. All law classes at CSUF are difficult, but professor Smith makes law really applicable and realistic. All law exams at CSUF are difficult. If Smith is teaching any law classes at CSUF besides 445, take him. Attend his office hours and you should do fine in any of his classes.
Thought this class would be a lot easier than it is tbh. He is a good professor though I would say. The only thing is he goes off topic so much. He is entertaining to listen to with his heavy sarcasm but I would lose track of the lecture due to it. The tests are difficult make sure you study well for them. He gives 4 pop quizes so make sure you go!
Failed this course with another professor. Throughout the semester he said he would never curve grades, but he rounded off my 79% to a B. He was easier than my other professor who seemed to not teach. Plus his example stories are fun to hear.
Spends each lecture going off on tangents and borderline inappropriate comments. Writes his own tests and PowerPoints that are riddled with grammatical errors. Just show up to class for the 4 pop quizzes and learn the material yourself from PowerPoints and reading.
Theres a lot of material for business law and Prof. Smith does a good job at lecturing. Hes definitely knowledgeable about law and made it as organized as possible. This class isnt easy but its business law so there is a lot important info. The tests are all scenarios and his practice exams help to give an idea of what hell put on the exams.
3 exams, 4 pop quizzes &cumulative final. His exams are not the easiest but tests how well you know the subject. Lectures are super interesting! To the recent reviews begging to change the grading scale when he already kindly adjusted it.. you just need to study smart not just study hard. Textbook not needed. Best advice is to copy all examples!
I loved Smith and his lectures. He makes a very boring subject very intersting and understandable. There is only 3 exams and one final, and also 4 pop quizes to encourage you to come to class. You don't need the textbook because everything that was on the exam was on the powerpoints, got an A without a textbook. Highly recommend Smith!
This class is an easy A, he makes it so that you can miss a significant amount of points and still get an A. As long as you are attending class for the quizzes and averaging an 80%-85% every test you'll have an A in the course. I got an A in the course without the curve even! STUDY THE POWERPOINTS!
Professor Smith is a great lecturer. He makes material that could be dry, entertaining with examples from his professional experiences in law. This class is graded solely on 3 tests and pop quizzes. He provides you with the lecture slides and practice tests, all you need to do is study and ask him for clarification to pass. Don't need the textbook.
grade only based on 4 exams and 6 surprise quizzes. exams are meant to trick you and he gives quizzes when attendance is low. makes weird jokes to get your attention. dont buy book. study lecture BEFORE class, take notes during, and review weekly, you'll pass. cumulative final so just learn it when he goes over it, don't wait until week of exam.
He is an amazing teacher. I actually learned a lot. His class is 4 exams and 6 surprise quizzes. No hw. He gives you all of the past exams for you to study from. STUDY THOSE PAST EXAMS! Go to his office hours if you need help. His class is beyond easy if you actually put effort and try you will pass. You don't need the book at all. No extra credit.
Pros: +Curves final exam +Easy pop quizzes (Open book) +Some exam questions directly from his powerpoints +Makes dry material interesting +Funny Cons: -Lots of reading -Material can be boring (not professor) -Attendance mandatory for pop quizzes
Solid professor. Really wants his students to do well and succeed in his class. He teaches the content very well and tells amusing stories to help keep the class engaged. He certainly does his part, the biggest problem I had with the class is that the material is often very boring and dry. Always attend class bcos easy pop quizzes will help in end.
Your grade is based on 2 midterms and 1 group paper. He made class very exciting and he was hilarious. I would definitely take him again in a heartbeat. Exams were fairly easy and he provides study guides. Take him!
Go to class, the lectures help a lot! He has great stories to tell and gives many examples to with memorization. Really cool and hilarious professor but only graded on 3 exams and final! Power points and study guides are accessible on Titanium.
Attendance is recommended because he includes some stories from class in the exam. Exams are hard because a lot of the answer options are vague or need his kind of experience to eliminate. The powerpoints themselves are great, but you have to ask specific questions to learn because he won't say it. His explanations are long-winded and confusing.
This class is one of the hardest classes for a lower division class, there are no extra assignments to boost up your grade its just 3 exams and one final. The exams are difficult. He spends each lecture telling random stories about his life that does not even relate to the class. Ends up curving the final because he has a high failing rate
Grade based on 3 tests and a final. No book needed. Everything is on Titanium. Attendance is not mandatory but you need to really listen during his lectures (which is like well-duh) but he get off topic so it's really difficult to "zone in". He's the best MGMT at CSUF but if you can, try to take it with some other professor or at a community.
Even though I managed an A, the exams were so tricky. I do not recommend going to class; the classes were just him going off-topic. Self-studying is easier. He also at some points would say stereotypical things that came off as really rude. Just study the slides and google all the terms; his slides can be vague. Also, do the practice exams.
He is not very exceptional by any standards. He is forced to make you not pass based on the department standards for all students to pass with less than a 2.7 and he sticks with it. If you try to confront him, he doesn't take criticism well and is extremely boring. He has pop quizzes.
His grading criteria is all over the place. You never have any idea what he wants. He is very egotistical and takes pride in students being wrong. When he grades it is as if he is out to get you. If your forget one little detail he will fail you. His exams are tricky and he does not give enough time by any means. Grading take forever. Very old sch
Honestly, if we didn't transfer to online for COVID don't know if I would have passed. His tests were rough and he made it obvious he is happy to see us struggle because that's what the department wants. His lectures are weird, he goes off talking about who knows what, so self-study. The pop quizzes were easy, so make sure to go to class for them.
2 exams, 1 group paper, a little extra credit, nothing else. Hes very funny but very boring. Hell spend 30 mins on one slide for no reason. Many tangents. I learned more by reading the Pwrpts and book than by listening. Tests are surprisingly very very hard, and little time to take them. Strong grader. Good luck and cross your fingers.
Class is graded on a few quizzes and 4 exams. Pay attention to lectures and you should be able to pass. Lecture study over book study. Smith makes you work for the grade but definitely achievable.
Professor Smith is the best teacher I have taken at CSUF. He is very kind and quick to reply to any emails. His lectures are interesting and tests are based on lectures. While the subject is not super interesting, Smith makes it easy to learn with great stories and examples. Show up and listen and you will do just fine!
Professor Smith is an amazing professor, he provided insightful examples within lectures and gave simple quizzes and tests that were very similar to study guides provided. I really enjoyed this class and recommend that everyone take him !!!
Very passionate professor, his lectures can become boring at times, but he always gives examples about what we are learning. He loves to make his students laugh and cares that we understand! Hes funny
The class wasn't bad at all. If you're taking him online I recommend downloading the powerpoints, copy and paste them into a word document and then go to the lecture and write down examples and stories instead of focusing on the material. The tests are all appliance-based so they are pretty difficult. The book is for extra studying though.
The class itself is hard due to the material. Professor Smith only grades by 4 tests with appliance-based questions. However, he curves our grade in the end and is a reasonable professor to work with.
Easy class. He provides all the powerpoints and practice exams. Although he doesn't mark attendance, you should go to class for the examples he gives (on the exams). He is also always available during office hours to answer any questions. I highly recommend Smith!
You're graded on 3 midterms and 1 final exam, with about 9 quizzes throughout the semester. Questions on test are based on examples he gives in class along with other simple definitions. Definitely study the practice exams he gives.
Mr. Smith is great, rambles a lot tho. I easily understand through his powerpoints alone but he provides examples during his lectures and those are helpful. He has a lot of quizzes, 3 exams. I took online for the pandemic and the quizzes were not bad. Most of his cases were common sense after you learn the vocabulary. Overall, he's really chill
I love this Professor. He was very clear from the beginning about what he wanted from us. There are 2 midterms, 1 final, and 1 paper, each worth 50 points. The exams were pretty easy and the study guide helped a lot. Its all based what he goes over in class, nothing more. I like how he always gives personal examples to explain things.
Professor Smith was such a nice person, and I do not regret taking his course. You are graded by a few things, but by attending his lectures and studying your notes you will be able to pass the course. No homework, just 3 exams. I recommend all business students who have the opportunity to take Professor Smith to do it.
Summer through zoom. No homework, simple short quizzes after pretty much every class. Three exams. Gives study guide and PowerPoints. Uses PowerPoints during class and gives examples of related examples. Three exam versions were done while on zoom with camera. Not open note. Pretty helpful and straightforward course. No +/- grading for MGMT 246.
If you're going to take mgmt 246 here, then I would recommend Smith over anyone else. His criteria is clear and provides practice exams that are similar to the actual exam. He also gives out take-home quizzes which are very helpful when studying for the exam. Take him!
Best professor for this course. 3 exams which were 40 questions. Also gave easy quizzes each week to complete at home. Never read the text book, just study the PowerPoint slides and practice exams.
He discusses practical real-world cases and use of the material being studied.
Professor Smith is pretty chill, and mainly just lectures during class time. He's approachable and very reasonable about questions/concerns. The thing I didn't like was that I had no idea what my grade was until the end of the semester since he applies a fat curve. The class itself was hard but I liked him as a professor.
Make sure to know your topics. You can pass without going to lectures but make sure to know your stuff. Exams have scenarios, make sure to study practice exams. Unknown if he curves, but average on exams are below 50%
The exams are so hard and everyone in this class os failing.
You get by this class without lecture, but when he is lecturing he tells you examples that you find on the exam. The topics you learn are alot thrown at you but i found it intresting. He has practice exams and answers posted in the begining of the semster that are essential to passing the exam. He cool asf take him.
Smith is a really nice and good professor. He is easy to get ahold of outside of class. He says he wont curve or nothing but at the end of the semester he fixes your grade sometimes. There is only 9 quizzes 3 points, 3 exams-40 points Q's and they r MC. quizzes are taken outside of class and can be discussed with everyone before you submit.
Honestly, the people who said it's hard are the people who don't go to class. In order to pass, you need to show up to his lectures. He uses his power points as study guides and a lot of questions on his practice exams are on the actual exams. Quizzes are open book and he encourages you to talk to your classmates for answers. Don't need textbook
Professor Smith has amazing lectures with real world examples that make the class engaging. Although the test material is difficult if you study you will be able to get a decent grade. He made the night classes worth while.
Nice guy but tests are way to hard. Average on all 3 exams was 26/40 throughout the class of 120 people
His tests are way too difficult. The practice exams don't help, the questions on the actual exam are way harder. Studied my butt off, and my highest exam grade was only a 25/40. If you fail one of the exams, good luck catching up again before the final, as you'll need to study all the terms only for just a few to show up on the exams.
super chill professor and kept lectures entertaining
In all honestly, Smith's class was probably the class with the hardest tests I've ever taken. Class average for each exam was around 23/40 so most fail but he doesn't do anything about it. He goes off topic during lectures so it's really hard to concentrate. Its really frustrating because most of your grade is weighted on exams. Don't take him
Exams were 80% of your grade, and they were not easy. Lectures were boring, but they had important scenarios in them that would sometimes appear one exams. If you study the powerpoint slides, you can easily get a passing grade. He curves the final grades at the end of the year so lots of people end up passing.
The test are VERY tricky. I recommend doing the practice exams and going over them w/ him in office hours. You are only graded on exams which are ALL lecture based so make sure to go to class and take good notes on what he says since pwr points are vague and not enough to pass exam. Textbook is not required.
I thought the class was extremely easy, only 3 exams & easy pop quizzes. To study, just copy his lecture ppts on google docs and when he is lecturing about the topic write underneath the examples. Also do the practice exam a couple times. Funny professor!
He's alright. Class grade is based on three exams worth 40 points, 3 quizzes that are 5 points, and a 5-point syllabus assignment. The tests are pretty easy as long as you go to class and pay attention or self-study the PowerPoints. Wouldn't recommend taking this class if you have a short attention span b/c the professor talks a lot.
The exams are confusing - some questions are entirely dependent on what he says/examples he gives during class. The textbook covers way more than we cover in class, so it is a bit of a waste of time. Take good notes on his examples. Most of class is spent listening to him make jokes and tell stories.
take him!! thank me later
3 exams worth over 80% of your grade. He tends to go off topic in lectures, but examples stated in class could be on exams. My class's avg on 1st 2 exams was 57%, 3rd exam was 67.5%, so our class def struggled. The textbook and his practice exams help a lot. No HW and no EC. I had 84% at the end, but he curved so I managed to get an A
You honestly really to listen to the lectures well since this course is rough. There is no homework graded so exams are basically your entire grade. Use the practice exams to practice applying the concepts to make sure you have a grasp of material. Ended with an A but it was a challenging class and he does curve the class based on his opiniononclas
He uses examples from lectures on exams and expands A LOT based off the PP. Attendance isn't mandatory but idk how someone would pass without going to every class. Grade book consists of 3 exams (one being the final), 3 quizzes, and syllabus agreement. No EC but he curves like a letter grade. I had a 73% and ended with a B.
You may get an F on the first exam like I did (many students do) and your Canvas grade may not change much throughout the semester, but don't give up. Go to his lectures, do the quizzes, and do good on the last 2 exams. Once he applies his curve you will pass, but I think the curve percentage depends on how well your classmates do
Prof's lectures can be lengthy, but the examples discussed often show up on exams. The textbook covers more than needed, so focusing on the slides and practice tests is key. Unstuckstudy AI's study tools helped me prepare effectively.
Not the best professor, prides himself on hard exams, and does not fully prepare you for his exams. His exams are really tough and tricky wording so takes a lot of times to study
Take this at a CC if you can. Grade is only made up of 5 pop quizzes, 3 exams, and a syllabus quiz. Lectures are incredibly boring and if even if you attend class, don't expect an A unless you cheat.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but you will need to show up if you want to pass the class and do well on exams. Class is only graded by 3 exams and 5 pop quizzes, so showing up matters. Textbook is "required" but I never read it. No make-up quizzes, but might provide make-up exams depending on the circumstance.
i have no idea why his rating here is so high. he prides himself on trick questions on exams and his lectures are awful. he goes on useless tangents and people walk out of his class. most of the class is failing. gives pop quizzes to incentivize coming to class but it gets easy to predict when he will give them.
Funny professor who makes lectures interesting. Attendance is not mandatory but there's no way someone could pass without attending almost every class. 3 exams, 5 quizzes
I found him funny and chill, but he grades on 3 exams & 5 pop quizzes (those open note at least). Def not a class fit for someone like me who gets test anxiety and who wants to just fly by with lil effort for a C, I actually did my best and didn't pass. Def need to work and study hard to pass. If you're good at memorization, this may work for you!
He gives pop quizzes therefore I would recommend attending his class every day. He also gets off-topic very frequently. He grades just on quizzes and exams there is no homework so you do not have something to fall back on.
Honestly would not take this professor. He gives pop quizzes and if you miss them there is no make ups. Doesn't teach well only talks mainly about his personal life.
Charles Smith is knowledgeable in law but struggles as a professor. His class relies on exams, pop quizzes, and one assignment. Attendance is mandatory for quiz credit, though he missed a week himself. He rambles, and exams are tricky. Pop quizzes allow resources, and grades are heavily curved. Avoid his class unless necessary.
on the first day, he opened up with “my exams are going to kick your ***” they did indeed. most students do so poorly in this class he curves by a letter grade. he doesn't make any exceptions for missed pop quizzes. exams are wordy and tricky. rambles on a lot. knowledgeable in his profession but not a good teacher. take another professor
Graded only on pop quizzes and 3 exams. I'm not good with heavy lectures and worse with tests, for me it was quite hard. Doesn't take attendance but miss a quiz, good luck. He goes into long stories that are examples of the law but will mix in personal stuff. This REALLY made it hard to focus on what im trying to learn. Did curve my final grade tho
typical chill white professor that sometimes says questionable jokes. u can survive off of lecture slides if ur rlly not up for class! dont skip majority of classes cuz then those ppl did bad on exams & blamed him. for EXAMS, study PRACTICE EXAM (UNDERSTAND WHY THE CORRECT ANSWER IS CORRECT/WRONG!) +TERMINOLOGY +addit. things he said; PS does curve
try ur best to attend class (even if ur late) just bc he does pop quizzes to try to get kids to go to class. u miss 2 quizzes & ur grade will fall bad. so go to class just for quizzes. in-class notes > lecture slides! he wont accept any exceptions for pop quizzes AT ALL. just trust that he does curve at end of sem bc he doesnt like ppl asking him
Attendance is not mandatory in the sense that it's graded but he does do random pop quizzes which are open book and you can collaborate with other students. The class is not hard at all as long as you pay attention. He tells stories which help a lot with understanding the concepts even if you don't understand how. Very funny guy too
He will spend 2/3 weeks on one chapter because he's just rambling and talking about himself. He makes very inappropriate comments and thinks he's funny. No one is engaged in his class, people don't even show up anymore or leave in the middle of class. The class itself is not difficult. He knows a lot about his profession.
HERE IS HOW TO PASS THIS CLASS IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND EVERY SESSION: - attend every single session until the first pop quiz - believe that once a quiz grade has been inputted in canvas, then the next pop quiz is coming very soon This class consists of only 9 things: 1 syllabus assignment, 5 pop quizzes, and 3 exams (the last one is noncumulative).
