Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. He does not teach whats on his tests. His tests are impossible and ridiculous. His lectures are not clear, and he does not give good explanation of a question asked in class.

This guy SUCKS, he doesn't explain anything and then gives you an F when you don't do it his way. And everything you ever learned about writing a good paper, if you take him forget about it. How this guys still teaches for a college baffles me.
If you don't write the paper his way, you'll be getting F's. I've always done very well in English, but he wants papers to be at a 5th grade level.
WARNING: Should not be teaching!!!! His military background makes him very, very, disrespectful. To him, his way is the only way...even if it's wrong. Do not take him for anything....bottom of the barrel choice!!!!!
Very Vague. Inconsistent grading makes it impossible to make an A, so don't expect one.

This guy really stinks! He doesn't help you, and expects you to know everything at a graduate level even before you complete you undergrad degree. I beg you, If you love life then don't take the teacher from hell. He is the worst ever!
Guys....I have no idea why this guy and D.Mitchell are still teaching at UHD, Strain will destroy your GPA and your confidence in writing a paper, trust me..U are better off delaying your degree than take a class with him :(

I have to say that he is a very good and even cool teacher. He may give alot of work but just do what he says. Not just me but the whole class thought he was a funny guy!(Maybe we just caught him at a good time)I would take him again.
a short story---- there were 4 students with a GPA of 4.0, 4.0, 3.8 and 3.6. Well they lost there mind and decided to take policy with Strain----guess what, 2 got C, 1 got D and the fourth one, well lets just say is still in school :(u know the moral! )
His part in cornerstone stressed out group out. We spent countless nights and every weekend on his papers and presentation. However, after the class was over, everyone in the class had respect for him and we were proud of what we have accomplished.
I was so scared to take Strain. Now that the class is almost over, he is a great guy. I have learned so much and he does have a heart. Don't be afraid. Lots of work! Just listen to what he says. Great guy!!! :)))
Register EARLY and try to AVOID his class! He makes the material harder than what it is intended to be.
He mumbles, he writes horribly, lacks organization and he is not funny at all unless you have no sense of humor. His case quizes and tests are not easy. By all means take another professor.
I think he is okay as a person, but I still wouldnt recommend him. His expectation are sooo unrealistic. He actually stressed the whole class out. When his part of the module was over, everyone was relieved. He's personable, but I definitely wld avoid

This professor is sooooo stressing. He makes assignments harder than they should be and he just loves to ridicule people in the class. Reason why, I never said anything in class, fearing he would riducule me too. AVOID HIS CLASSES-loss of time & money.

Yeah, he is hard. His module is like going through The Crucible during Marine boot camp. He is like Simon Cowell in that he seems so rude, but deep down you feel he cares. It doesn't hurt to have some Masochistic tendencies before taking him, though.
The class is very hard, but you have ample opportunity to improve your grade. Begin working on the cases as soon as they are assigned, you will need the time. Work hard and you will do well.
He is one of the worst professors at UH-D. I find it hard to believe that he has been allowed to teach for as long as he has because he doesn't appear to know anything. He does appear to know one subject though; women. He is a ****!

He is easy if you follow directions to the letter. Can be very stressful at times. My group pulled an "A" but we worked hard for it! Keep up with your journals especially and you will get through it!

Overall, he is a nice guy, and he can't seem to mind up his mind at times. His class is A LOT of work, but his presentation is not as bad as it sounded. He would only give you a grade you earned, and would not give curve/ bonus pts.

This professor should not be teaching! Firstly, he thinks he is still in the Army, and we students are too. He needs to learn how to speak to people. His material is not clear.
He made us spend our days getting companies to open new accounts with Volvo Rents. This equipment rental company is OWNED BY HIS BUDDY! We had to make sales calls at our own expense. Plan on taking lots of time to work for free during the day even though it was a night class.
If you want a Micki Mouse class to fill your schedule take someone else! If you want to learn your stuff about marketing principles, take Strain. Highly knowledgeable about this subject and is very charismatic as well. Lot of assignments to reinforce material and always available to help students.
Dr. Strain sucks, he should be fired. He does not explain anything. He chooses the teams then uses dice to decide who will present. His teaching method is terrible. If you can avoind him please do so. HE SHOULD BE FIRED ASAP!!!!!
He is demanding. He knows his material well & has high expectations of his students. He’s abrasive & stern. The class work is excessive in the allotted time. Workload can be stressful. The exams are tough, but doable if you study consistently. No curves. You will earn the grade you receive.
Cornerstone is a PAIN with Strain. Strain's resentment at having to teach this class is evident from the 29 PAGE syllabus. His 2(unnamed) teaching partners may be even worse. Like having 3 courses in 1 semester, with MASSIVE amounts of (mostly group) homework. Weird grading system. Tricky online final (25%). This is the one to AVOID.
Business cornerstone was insane with this guy!!! 90% group work, 90% of the work outside of class. This will prepare you for upper class courses, but will kill your social life.
He made the class super challenging!! crazy work too, he just crams as many work he can give throughout the whole semester. Hes really anal too, especially in his grading, everything has to be exactly like he wanted. Hes a great teacher though, very clear, real friendly and always ready to help.

I took this class in the summer. Was a lot of work, but if you put in the time, you will reap the fruits. I earned an A in the class. Be careful how you deal with him, he does not appreciate being challenged. Come to class on the review days!
Very hard professor... big term paper... exams are tough... he is preety laid back as far as talking to him but he is verryyy veryyyyy harddd.. you get what u earn even if it is a 59.4 thats an F for him... too much work... spend hours on the term paper...
He was a good teacher, hard on students but yet he knows how to do his job. If you are willing to do a lot of work and keep up with the class then take him. But if you are just going to be playing around, DONT.

This is definatley one of those "If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen" classes! Business Cornerstone with Dr. Strain is a work intensive class! If you aren't competitive or have a poor work ethic, don't bother. If you're willing to work hard and sacrifice your social life for a few weeks, expect a great grade! Good luck!
I got major points taken off my group's final project because my dates were in number format instead of writing out the months in words. This is the type of stuff he takes point off for so watch out because they add up
He is a challenging teacher & is not fair when comes to grades. The material on the test are applied concepts and NOT from notes or the book. The questions are so advanced...I took this as an elective BIG mistake...lowered my GPA(got a C) and I worked my tail off.
He is hard and he will make you work. read the ch for the quizzes and know your stuff for the midterm and final...they are hard questions. In the end you will do fine of you work hard. Not a class to take in the summer or with a full load.
This is a demanding course, and it is all group work, no exams. He is strict and has a specific presentation/paper format you must follow to get a good grade. Must have time to devote to this course. Topics included: team building, critical thinking and ethics, and international business. Great teacher!
Very demanding team work, strict on paper/ presentations but very clear on what is expected. MUST have alot of time to devote to this class. All team work in Dr.Strain's class. Try others offering same or be willing to sacrafice all your time & energy on this class. Your other classes will suffer, but you have to take BA3300 before any others.

A tenured **** who should not be allowed to teach. He has an overstated ego and nobody cares about his boat. His goal is to make students fail and to prevent students from graduating. Stay away!! I know I will.
Dr. Strain is TOUGH , very precise and clear but alot of work is given and will affect you social life and other courses. I would not reccomend. Run for cover!
You could tell he was in the military. You need a never ending coffee pot in his class. He will put you to sleep.Would NOT reccommend

He requires ENTIRELY TOO MUCH WORK and assignments even if this was the only course you were taking in a semester. His Personal Selling course involves actually selling on you free time and writing extensive analysis of your performance- very tedious and exhausting. He is a nice person outside of class though.
I took this guy for Business Cornerstone a few years back and he was nothing but an animal. The guy thinks he is in the military. If i recall, the class started off at with 28 students and by the end of the semester there were only 12 students left. I warned a friend not to take him but he did not listen and he ended up with a D in the class. RUN!!

This guy gives you so many chances. All of the quizes and tests are online. You can even take them up to three times. He changed the final project in the middle of the semester, (which was so much easier) and he still let us coorect things for a better grade.
It seems like his class is hard, but he makes up for it with curves. You have to be willing to do actual work, which is why most students don't like his class.
Strain is difficult, no doubt about it. I do think his class takes up WAY too much time. BUT, you will learn whatever it is he is teaching. I have taken him twice and may again. The first class was cornerstone and I can tell when I see presentations who did or didn't take Dr. Strain. His class will be tough! But he does help you - just ask.
None of his previous ratings seem true. He was the best marketing prof ever. I took him for marketing 3302, and learned tons and made a B, with a fair effort. Outgoing and makes Highly recommend him.

Dr. Strain is a good professor. Follow his project instructions and you will do fine. He creates the test questions and they are directly from his lecture and book.
Awesome professor. SO funny. Tests are easy, all online, gives 5 tries for each test. I learned a lot from him, had fun, and got an A. 5 presentations, but you get to pick your own group. Try to get him!
BUS Cornerstone was great! I still keep in touch with all my classmates. He tells you what he wants and it's you & your team's responsiblitiy make that possible. He really prepares you for the business world. If you think he's a hard ass then your ass is lazy and might get you fired off your team. He assigns the teams for you so don't worry!

This is a very hard class. He will tell you this from the get go. I almost dropped because I did not know if I could do this. I hung in. He is an excellent teacher and will challenge your knowledge and capabilities. Do not take this class lightly, listen to his constructive critisim, read, study and you will do well. HIGH RECOM
Dr. Strain will probably scare you away the first day of class. DON'T BE FOOLED! The class starts off hard and ends off easy. This is mainly a GROUP presentation participation class. If you really do not have the time to meet at least once a week for 2 hours do not take him!Final is straight from the book. Class work = 5 papers and 5 presentations.
He is an excellent professor, helpful, funny, and respectful. I learned a lot and got an A. He doesn't require you to go to class yet, I did. MKT is important in the real world. If you do your work and cooperate w/your team you should do good.
He will give you a mountain of project that will take roughly 120 hours per student in a team to complete. He will change standards based upon student he favors. He does not care whether or not you pass. In reality only half the class will pass. Do not take him. He needs to be removed from this school and should never be allowed to teach.
Business strategy Summer 2. 8 online quizzes=40%, final 30% and presentation was 30%. Hardest part of the class was the team project/corporate portfolio presentation and he chose who presented what. He will know if you are clueless and verbally attack you, learn to BS fast or know your stuff!!! Gives conflicting info so go by the book not him.
Not impressed at all. This class was a joke. When you spend an hour each class period explaining what you want.. you didn't do a very good job explaining it the first time. You will be required to SELL Volvo Rents. A company owned by his friend. Learn a selling method HE CREATED. Students complain each semester and will again this semester.Terrible
This class is great if you want to learn to work in a group. The class starts off demanding time, but then ends the other way around. I still am in contact with people from my group. I recommend this professor if you want to buckle down and get your work done. I felt the class was very rewarding!
*DO NOT TAKE* Took online class. He is very particular about everything from the format to the way you save the file. Especially grammer. I received a D on an A assignment because I had one space in between my sentences and not two. Way too much work, by 2nd week in class we had already had 8 discussion post. *AVOID* if you value your GPA and time.
tests come straight from the textbook (and the real selling videos) and therefore are pretty easy. you get two attempts. the worst part is the group project, and i agree with the person below who says he's very tough on grammar. one space too many can cause your paper to go from an A to a D. i would never take him for anything again.
Do not take this class! The group project is not easy and his grading is horrible. I got a bad grade from the group not from my other assignments. His scheduling to turn in assignments is horrible. You are constantly working in this class.

This class was pretty easy. As long as you did your work you could breeze through the class. The tests and projects were both pretty easy. He also allows you to take all the exams online with multiple attempts
I took this class online during summer school. Grades consist of discussion questions (one per chapter), reading quiz (one per chapter), three exams and a final. Everything comes straight from the book so it is very easy. Also, you get 5 attempts for each quiz and 3 for each exam (highest grade counts). i highly recommend taking this professor!!
I took the online class, and he was so confusing. He's very unorganized!! His assignments and instructions have to be read a few times before understanding. He grades hard on the 18 discussions you have to complete, & will deduct if you grade yourself too high. It was stressful taking this class, & I am so glad it's over with. I don't recommend him
This was my favorite class this semester. The professor gives you all the materials needed to succeed. No busy work, and multiple attempts on each quiz and exam. Material given was easy to understand and interesting. Highly recommend Dr. Strain!

All quizzes/exams allow for multiple attempts, so you have to be really bad to fail those. 1 group project, but be sure you have your syllabus handy because he will change the rules midway through. Professor Strain is pretty cut and dry. No, he does not take attendance and sometimes you will get confused with what he is saying BUT he replys to emails promptly, he is very well organized and if you are unsure about something, be sure to ask. He does teach the entire time. He gives reasonable times for due dates. Don't Procrastinate
gets off topic, but he is funny, flexible with grades, and wants you to do well, helpful when you have your questions, there are quizes after each ch, and 3 exams plus final, lot of work, this is marketing!
Professor Strain likes to get off subject during his lectures and will do so very often. Quizzes are online in which you receive multiple attempts, highest grade counts. Tests are 25 questions online and multiple attempts are allowed. Will require a group project which is not difficult as long as you follow his directions.
If you like to be in class to listen to his ridiculous personal stories the majority of the time, learn so little, watch his old lecture videos from years ago when he used to ‘teach’, deal with his negative mean spirit, harsh feedback, and on the other hand overlook his typos and misspelling (he will take points off if you do that!)run away........
Even if you have to wait another semester to graduate if he is your only choice then wait another semester. Believe me he is that bad. He is cruel, ruthless and thinks that he is a big shot while he is the total opposite.

I ended up switching classes lots of homework, 3 test, 1 final, plenty of discussion boards one major group presentation. Extremely time consuming all BA 4302 are time consuming but if you have other classes your going to find yourself struggling with your other classes. Good luck !!
Dr. Strain actually is a pretty good professor. No, the class is not easy by any means; however, if you do the readings/quizzes/discussion topics, and attend class, you should have no problem. This is definitely a class you should take in person. He gets off topic sometimes, but he is quite helpful and truly wants you to do well.
Easy class but be prepared to teach yourself because he does nothing in class. He talks about personal stuff and no marketing at all. Loves to make jokes and use students to seem funnier. Has no respect for students and makes fun of accents. Thinks he knows everything and make you feel ignorant so dont even participate.
His class is easy bc he allows several attempts on the quizzes (1 per chapter) and tests and takes the highest grade. Only 1 attempt on the final- study for it. There's 1 group project that's a pain in the...Don't leave it for the last minute and if you're stuck ask for his help! You will be tempted to skip class, but his lectures do help w/ tests.
Multiple attempts on quizzes and exams. You hardly have to go to class (you wont miss anything because it all comes from the book) Read the chapters and definitions . Easy A self explanatory class. I would take him. His personality is another story.
Had face-to-face class, had to do all online class discussions, plus reading, plus pre- & post-quizzes. Multiple modules for each class to prepare for the ETS test (3 hr test of ALL subjects from freshman-senior). He rarely spoke about the "strategy" part of class, and spoke of stories or group assignment from day 1. VERY DIFFICULT teacher

If you want a professor who thinks he's hilarious, the smartest person to ever roam the earth, never wrong, and very unclear - take him. He will tell the most pointless stories with no correlation to the task at hand. Gives WAY too much work for students on the verge of gradation. Don't take him if you're looking for easy.
He's all over the place. Spends more time talking about his time in the army than actually lecturing. He often jumps off topic. Gives unclear instructions. However, he's class is easy because most of the work is done online. He does not take attendance; therefore, as long as you're doing your work on connect don't even bother showing up for class.
He has complete command over the subject. He's very funny and has lots of life experiences that he shares with the class which I find very intriguing. He is respectful, responds to emails promptly and try to solve any of your concerns. He's intimidating at first but once you understand him you learn a lot. One has to work hard .He's awesome !
Everything is done on connect and blackboard. Get started at the beginning of the semester because there are like 6 items per chapter! He lectures more about his life experiences, I didn't learn anything about Marketing from him the whole semester. He grades the group project very harshly. I would take someone else...
Had him face to face, however it was kind of pointless to attend classes. Everything was online, and even though I attended most of his classes I did not learn anything from his lectures. If you take his class do not make any mistake on anything because your grade will suffer and he will not care to help you in anyway.

He is not good at all is some old military man that just talks about his own life. He is very hard to understand. He took 3 points off for not putting our team member second name. his reason is because it took him longer to find him on the role sheet. What kind of crap is that. This professor is awful! He spends most of class talking about his military career and love life! He does not focus on topic and will contradict himself. Often will call out a student in class and publicly embarrass them. TONS of work, but multiple attempts on Quizzes and CQs. ETS test 10% of grade, study hard. Memorized Oral presentation required.

DO NOT TAKE him! He truly thinks he is the best professor on earth. He says "I am almost perfect"! He maybe perfect in his eyes but not to others. He is very rude, and loves to pick on people. The Grp. Pr. is horrible! My team tried their best to be perfect, we met up during summer class 6X and he commentate that we never must have met for this...
Goes off on tangents all the time talking about his life. Which is honestly boring and lackluster. Makes the class tougher than it honestly needs to be. Calls you out in lecture if he thinks you're not doing anything related to the class, I was writing notes. Garbage prof. 1 Comp Final 1 Presentation 4 Major Quizes Chapter HW Assignments.
Talks more about his life experiences than the material. Uses PowerPoint slides that do not match up with required text. Interrupts you when giving a presentation and will take off points if he asks you something while presenting that you have not mentioned yet. Told us highest grade on final exam, between 2 classes, was a 68. Teach yourself.
Took him over the winter semester. The class was easy, just a lot of work. There was Learn Smart, videos, and quizzes (2 attempts allowed) for each chapter. 3 exams that you can take 2x and the highest grade counts. He doesn't curve at all and his syllabus is clear about what he expects from you. Work hard and you'll be done in no time.
Took him during the Winter term. Easy class as he has everything outlined and provides clear instructions. He kept us up to date with messages through out the 3 weeks. He does not provide extra credit but you honestly do not need it. 3 multi choice exams, 3 short hw assignments for ea. chapter on Connect, NO projects. Got an A.
Favorite course this semester! Take him for MKT 3302 online!!
The entire class was just 17 LearnSmart and Quizzes from Connect. No tests, no final. Easy A.
He really scares you throughout the entire semester, but he's not a hard grader in the end and curves generously. He talk about himself a lot, so just laugh and keep smiling so he likes you-it will save you in the end. He tells a lot of jokes and picks on certain students, but he means well. The project is difficult, so choose your group wisely.
Learnsmarts, 4 quizzes (which you have 5 attempts on), 1 group presentation, 1 comprehensive final. The group presentation was not too bad, you will need to know everything. He goes off topic A LOT. Also singles out students, if you don't answer he will go into a rant. Gives you everything you need & I suggest you read his guide before classes
AMAZING TEACHER. Took him for a minimester online and completed the class the second day and made a 98 from being lazy and in a hurry. If you take him, you won't regret it, I promise.
He's a HORRIBLE professor. He spends the entire lecture time going over a how-to guide for your group project. He goes off of lecture pretty often and rambles on forever. He gets an attitude with our class, and sent us a passive-aggressive email for not receiving any early-submitted projects two days before the due date! Choose another professor.
It is impossible to get a good grade on the project. Your team sucks and the professor is merciless. Too much work which is unnecessarily difficult. His test questions have sometimes 6 to 10 answer options which is ridiculous. He curves, but it definitely isnt worth all the effort. He makes this class too difficult for what it should be
Group project is really hard & you will have to know the entire presentation bc you dont know what slides youre gonna have to present. Every class he explains in detail the guide that'll help you. He calls on students for participation but he means well. Final is super hard but he curves generously open book too. Share quizzes with class, it helps!
There are 4 quizzes with 5 attempts on each but share the quizzes on groupme with the class so you can get a 100 on it because they are hard. Easy connect assignments. Final is hard but the "How to guide" will help you but it is really hard!! He curves though. Project is hard so choose your team wisely bc you will need to know everything to present
I took his class online in the fall. The class was self paced, everything was open at the begining of the semester and was due the last day of the semester. The entire class was on connect. 21 chapters of learnsmarts, 21 quizzes, about 8 "activity assignments", 3 exams and a final. Easy A.
Please read! I was surprised to see that his rate my prof was only a 2.5. He is the best class I have ever taken. MY course was an easy A. All quizzes, homework, and exams are on connect no lockdown required. I actually completed the whole class in one day no joke. Exams and quizzes are all on quizlet. The homework is just as easy. Generally left us alone. Work heavy, everything was given to us the first day and due at the end. No proctored tests, but still, work heavy.
Tons of online assignments through connect but majority of the material can be found online. The interactive assignment sucked and took a while to figure out but once you do your good, unlimited tries to bring your grade up. Lots of work so don't procrastinate. Give your self time to do the multiple tries. Final was tough but still passed with an A
All assignments were through Connect, easy A. The teacher himself isn't really helpful in the course but the content is easy. Just use the book through Connect and you should pass the assignments no problem.
