I took Thomsen for physical and cultural geography. He is awesome!! Very fun classes, makes material fun to learn. Field trips are fun too.

eeewwww.
Charlie likes you if you fit his profile of what he thinks a student should be: hip, young, easy to impress. If you don't fit, WATCH OUT! Qualities as a teacher: none.
Very knowledgable of his subject. Easy class that make u put effort into the tests. Gives u all the notes. Great personal opinion and personality. Only don't like if you don't like his opinion in which case, take another class! You can't ask 4 better teac
Doesn't take attendance after the first two weeks of class so if your a person who does good in classes where the lecture doesn't matter this class is good. Overall, I enjoyed his class but when it came to test i was overwhelmed and didn't feel prepared. Know all the bold terms I did that for the la
Thomsen is the coolest teacher ever. he's totally laid back, he can get into politics from time to time, but he has notes and things very laid out and simple. he's clear about what you need to know before the tests. with a little bit of work and studying, its an easy A, no sweat.
Sure this is a total slacker class, but this teacher is awsome to the max

Charlie is an interesting guy, very liberal, into hemp. if your interested in learning stuff, dont take his class. We've spent most of the semester looking up stuff on the internet, an example would be the latest episode of Lost, but he still finds it perfectly fine to test us on all of the material from the very long very boring and outdated book.
Prof. Thomsen is a nice, cute, and hip guy but he is not a very good teacher. He drifts too much and he overwhelmes you with the tests that he gives. He does not teach in class what he teaches on the tests. He just expects you to read the book but does not even tell you what chapter your on. I would not recommend taking his class.
He sucks!!! he was horrible he should be a talk show host not a teacher!

boring
this teacher is horrible. is not clear at all and you are graded on only 3 tests the whole semester. If you do poorly on one test your basically done. I would never recommend this teacher. We spent the whole semester looking at stupied pictures on the internet. Very bad.
very frustrating
I am very unimpressed with Mr. Thomsen's teaching. He is cute and entertaining, but also totally unprofessional. Almost every class he is late, disorganized, and cranky. He throws out a ton of data, and expects the class to remember 5 chapter's worth at a time for tests. I dropping his class and trying my luck with another teacher. NOT recommended!
Charlie is an excellent teacher that conveys material clearly and efficiently. His materials (the book) for Geog 300 is written by an ex American River College instructor and is confusing, but his text for Geog 310 is terrific. He is a highly recommended instructor.
This class was garbage. I was sorry that I wasted my money on it. Unfortunately I needed the physical science credits. Prof Thomsen is the personification of what is wrong with American education. Tests are multiple choice and don't line up with the lectures. No real thinking is involved, just memorization. He is arrogant, rude and lazy.
This man is arrogant, cranky, and disorganized. His constant sarcasm is annoying and discourages my learning. I wish i could have taken this course with another professor and envy those who dropped his class early on. He thinks he is the****. He is not. He singles people out and makes them feel retarded.
Goods and bads. The time in class is very fun. But I felt like what we'd go over in class didn't always translate to tests very well. He allows 20 points extra credit. Makes Geo 310 VERY interesting. If you're self-sufficient and read book, you're fine. If you show up and participate, you're okay. Tests aren't easy; study! Overall, glad I took it.
I don't care what anybody says, Charles is a great teacher. He seems to have a lot of passion in his work. I love his sarcasam, and I know that some people complain on how he singles people out and makes them feel stupid, well thats because they are stupid. He's a cool guy who stood up for me, when I didn't, plus I think he's tottaly HOT!
very difficult to get his attention and to extract information from
Charlie is "interesting" to say the least. He wears a kilt to class everyday which is your first clue. He does go by the book but gets off on strage tangents but it keeps you from being bored. I hate science and I got a B so I do recommend him. There are only 3 tests including the final so do the extra credit and go to class if you want to pass.
Nice, but not very clear about expectations, grade is only based on 3 tests, hardly any assignments. the only way to pass class is read the book and do all extra credit
he's funny & keeps u awake with weird facts but i didnt learn anything!(except what the next hurricane is going to be named..he found a list online).attendance not mandatory & his tests were a bit hard. anytime u ask a question he answers it like ur stupid. very sarcastic & talks to u with a "why are u asking this question?" type of an attitude.
It is an easy A if you do all the extra credit, I flunked a test and still got an A. His lectures are off topic, he does not explain things well at all, he also gives out incorrect information. Only take this class as a last resort for your physical science requirement
horrible teacher. plays around too much. i past the class though, but he loves to talk about things that are irrelevant toward class.
Charlie is awesome! I didn't even know what Geog was prior to this class. He is passionate and knows his subject, which makes class interesting, thus I learned a lot. Do the reading ahead of class, take good notes, ask questions and study hard. Use the CD and his web page! Shari B.
Charlie is very knowledgeable and is very passionate about his work, but sometimes he lacks clarity when trying to teach. He is all over the place during lecture, so the material can be hard to follow at times. If you're interested in the subject I'd say take his course, but be prepared to work, it won't be an easy A.
I've taken the Field Trips Mt.Lassen-Redwds-Lava Bds, will take Yosemite-SPR09 so that tells u I enjoy his class. He has a different sence of humor u'll know what I mean if u take his class. Easy 2 talk 2, helpful u must b in GREAT PHYSICAL condition (hike frm sunup 2 sundown) TAKE NOTES most of your grade will be on your notes. Final is a potluck.
I really do not understand why people are saying he is all over the place with his teaching. He gives the questions for the test and he also has the notes online. Overall I really liked this class and found it entertaining. He is passionate about his subject and keeps it very fun while you also learn, a skill that a lot of teachers do not have.
Horrible teacher. Spends way too much time joking around and talking about irreverent personal matters than focusing on the subject. The so called ?study guides? don?t cover all the information on the tests, and the tests contain questions not covered on the ?study guides?. Granted he is funny but this isn?t the John Stewart show. If I had to do o
I am surprised that people say he isn't a good teacher. I thought he was crystal clear. Not only that, he is willing to go over things as many times as you need to understand it. I got an A without ever looking at the book, but you do need it for the mandatory study guide. Overall, one of my favorite teachers so far. Very interesting and fun.
like other people have said he gets of subject gets on the net and searches random crap...its interesting but really common now...doesnt use common terms for those who might not be that comprehensive with big terms and if he dont like u hell make u look like a fool and stupid just cuz...i dont reccomend taking his class but im sure somepeoplewould
Charles is unlike any other teacher I've met. He has a child-like demeanor, sarcastic sense of humor, and keeps things interesting. I enjoyed his Geo390 class on the Redwood Coast and wouldn't mind taking more of his classes. Also, if you plan on taking one of his trips, you need to be in shape since there'll be tons of hiking.
He is fun. I am never bored in his class. But I can tell he is very bored with teaching after 10 years. He only covers subjects he enjoys and spends little time clarifying and putting things into an orderly fashion.
if you don't care about geog, you will get so much out of his class! you actually hear about interesting stuff thats not in the book. he is very sarcastic, but this is college, not highschool, he treats you like an adult. one of the smartest teachers ive ever seen, though I do think he is bored with teaching and could be doing other great things.
Very cool guy! Love the kilt!
Charlie is an awesome teacher who knows his subject very well. I didn't like geography before his class but he makes it super interesting and you won't forget the stuff he teaches. Do the study guide and you'll do great on the tests. I highly recommend him. He's funny and sarcastic and just an all around great guy.
Charley is a great teacher if you make an effort. If you screw around dont pay attention and ask stupid questions because you were screwing off in the first place he will make you look like an ass. If you are not a student who is there to learn go find another class.
very witty, but if he really see's you trying he is helpful, may make some wise cracks, but he truly is brilliant..a little scattered though!
His class is fast paced, and so are his lectures. If you can keep up your good. If you fall behind, he can help you get going again. Beacon tutoring helps tremendously if you need extra help. I have yet to meet a teacher as comical, and in love with the subject material as Mr. Thomsen.
Chose another professor if you want to actually learn about cultural geography. He just rambles about whatever is on his mind. He fails to make clear connection from one idea/statement to the next. Fun guy, knows a lot of interesting facts; however, not worth the time if your majoring in Geography.
Lets the students guide lecture--which is more often than not a distraction from the actual subject matter. Very witty guy, extremely fun class, enjoyable lecture...but you have to work hard for your grade: he won't help you if you don't try.
Awesome Professor. He's really knows his geography. Its a faced pace class for sure.. The study guide is a lot of work but its worth it. He offers a lot of extra credit. I would take another class with him if I needed it..
Very important class. Lectures are fascinating and engaging. There is not really a planned class session. Its more of a general outline of what will be discussed so you might have to actively connect information yourself. However, information vitally important and practical for our daily lives. Excellent class though that is highly recommended.
He's a really cool teacher, though sometimes goes off topic (usually related to what he's talking about). He's helpful if you ask for it...
He exemplifies Geography is the mother of all sciences. fast paced, easy going, sarcastic study environment. If you are there to study you will get an A, if not he'll just smile and wave at you. If you are serious about Geography or really want to learn something, he is the man. If you're not don't waste his time, class time, or your own.
hes cool and ull get and A if u try...
awsume class
he is pretty smart and knows a lot of random facts but i wouldn't recommend him because he wastes too much time talking about other topics that have nothing to do with geography. the study guide and the online book take forever to complete but you need to do them in order to get credit.
Thomsen himself is a pretty cool guy. Although his grading system sucks. Aside from the book you must get an additional 2 workbooks. They take FOREVER to complete...HOURS & are only worth 5pts! Also your grade comes from basically no work. Which can be cool but also leaves no room for improvement. STUDY A LOT. Diagrams are hard. Won't take again.
spent super money & hours on books he wrote. (duper homework) lab & lec. every day was a test diagram which you either get everyone right and pass or miss one and fail its either correct or fail I did everything, homework too, i passed lab w a b, & fail lect. w f, based on what he grades, basically these dumb diagrams, i dont want to take him again
I needed Geography for a graduation requirement. This class was super hard he would go on and on with pointless lectures about things that were never on the tests. I got a D in his class then took it again with another professor and got a B.
Terrible teaching style. Goes off topic and is not organized with lectures. If you must take him, beacon tutoring will be extremely helpful.
I have been a student of Charlie's for ten years now off and on. He does have a tendency to cover material that is not directly related to the course, but also thoroughly covers material that is related to class. Furthermore, he is one of the most approachable professors. Just drop by office hours and he will answer any questions you have.
Wears his attitude and his politics on his sleeve and likes to pick on his students personally. He gives the impression that our subject is a waste of time. He rushes through material and never has the assignment or the data organized before class. Routinely changes the assignments halfway through the lab. Oh, and he wears kilts to class...nice.
Awful teacher and his lectures are confusing. He goes too fast during notes and makes you feel stupid if you have questions. During notes he will give u the definition of a word and instantly start talking about something else so it makes taking proper notes hard. Tests r hard and I never took a class where LITERALLY MORE THAN HALF THE CLASS FAILS
Great professor. Every class I took with him, I got an A. He is extremely knowledgeable and gets excited when a student is interested and ask questions. Takes the time to help you if you are willing to take the time to learn. Best teacher I've ever had. Read the chapters and you're golden for tests.
THIS TEACHER IS TOTALLY LEGIT TO THE MAX. LOVE THE SARCASM, THE KILT HE WEARS SOMETIMES.:D I GOT AN A IN HIS CLASS. DOING SOME READINGS WILL HELP A LOT AND BEACON TUTORING. IT COMES DOWN TO INDIVIDUALS. STUDY AND DON NOT PROCRASTINATE. BUT MAKE SURE HE RECORDS THE ARTICLE ASSIGNMENTS AND THE GOOGLE EARTH. STUDY AND YOU WILL BE OK.
I recommend this teacher only if you want to learn about global warming and politics. Study his diagrams if you want anything close to an A. Bring your book to class so you can teach yourself Geography while he talks about Libya.
This teacher does not teach well. He is always off topic, and shows slide shows of his family's vacations. His class just depressed me. He thinks he's funny when he's not. Really really boring. He is unclear and if you just read the book you'll probably understand more about geography.
whoever you are, you will love this guy. there are alot of teachers that dont care about their students, but this guy will always help. you will come away from his class learning more about not just geog but any subject that comes up. he is very smart and very funny. trust me im normally not a big fan of teachers but this guy is worth taking
Great teacher. Knows his stuff. Keeps the class interesting. Got off topic a lot for the first half of the semester, but it was always informative stuff. It's a challenging class, but you should be fine if you read the book, take good notes, and do well on the homework.
Thomsen is a good professor. He does have the tendency to get off topic and just starts talking about whatever comes to mind. He is passionate about his field and is a much better professor when students ask questions and interact with him. Most of the points in this class come from the three exams but each one had plenty of extra credit on it.
He was very helpful and he made it a point to make sure that everybody understood the work, he might have gotten a little bit side tracked but it was all so you could understand the work.
Interesting and passionate. Comes off as a little abraisive at first, but he just prefers to see students involved; sit up front! Attending class and taking good notes/paying attention is key. Will clarify points as much as needed, just ask. PPTs online too. Provides you with every chance to succeed. Effort is required, but highly recommended!
BEST TEACHER EVER..unless you're an unrelenting christian who pushes their views on others and then maybe you won't like him because he is quite passionate about his field of study. Great guy though! Love him! Very helpful and clear, does rant a bit but it's great and all about real world stuff.
This teacher is a dirt bag. if he likes you, you'll do well in his class. he likes to ridicule people who dont share his views. I recommend you take another teacher who isnt as scatter-brained and doenst go off in personal rants about things not related to the course.
Intelligent and approachable teacher. He offers substantial amounts of extra credit to help students succeed. Informative lectures; touches on more than just physical geography. Personally, it was a fun time in his class. However, studying well for his 3 exams are imperative; they are the bulk of the total grade (multiple choice & diagrams).
This professor mocked my ideals and values and my opinions appear small and worthless, while using irrevelant information and data to argue. He is often sidetracked and likes to preach about his political beliefs. He is a talented geographer and doesn't grade off his opinion of you. If he spent half as much time teaching as he does preaching.. man.
This class is a bit difficult. If you read and attend class daily, you shouldn't have a problem with passing. Thomsen is really good at explaining the diagrams, i would be lost without his help. He does have a tendency to go off topic, but i dont mind it. If your sensitive and cant shake things off i wouldn't take his class, but overall i enjoyed
soooooo chill!!! best professor ever! loved taking his class. doesn't take attendance and has NO HOMEWORK! totally recommend! his test are a breeze as well!
Best teacher i ever had. He will make sure that u understood everything. if you don't like him that means u like big corporations and the dirty war and oil industry.
Well, he is a great guy to listen to you and has a lot of interesting things to say, but he's also one of those professors that don't teach very well... at all. Had to learn everything out of the book and the internet. Would not recommend, go with the others.
Although he goes off topic, most of what he talks about relates to Geography. Regardless of his political ideas, which he lets you know right up front, he never grades you differently if you disagree with him. You need to go to class and really use his study guides as you prepare for his tests and always practice drawing out your diagrams!
Prof. Thomsen is great! He's funny and keeps you engaged in what he's lecturing about during class. People think he's hard and sometimes he's not too clear on things, but he's very helpful when you just ask him. He's got everything you need to know about his tests on D2L so take advantage of that, read the book and do your homework. You'll be good.
Professor Thomsen is passionate about what he does and what he believes in. Some students didn't think he was very clear on certain material but I had no problem. He gives excellent study guides for exams. The online homework is a tad difficult but it didn't have a huge impact on the grade. Class was interesting and insightful.
Charles was the best teacher that I've had so far in my 4 years of college! Funny, helpful, passionate about what he is teaching and just all around a delight to be around! Recommend him to anyone who is serious about their education. Also took a field study course to the Redwoods! EPIC!
i ended up dropping this class, this was not about states and mountains it was training you to be a meteorologist. He got off topic every second... do not take this class. Homework is $40. Funny and you learn everything else that is happening in the world except geography.
He's a good teacher, in that I sufficiently learned the material. However, he consistently finds ways to go off topic and talk about stuff like marijuana legalization and how evil "big oil" is. If you can't handle touchy or taboo topics of discussion that are irrelevant to the course material then do not take this class. 45 would take again.
He is a great professor that clearly loves the subject, and feels strongly about almost everything he will tell you about. You definitely can't miss his class, and his homework makes you subscribe to it online, but it't not worth that much. He only has a few tests in the class, but they're worth a ton of points. Plenty of info provided online
Prof. Thomsen is present and pleasant during office hours. His attitude is different in the classroom. He wastes class time discussing political topics in lectures. Be prepared for sarcasm, profanity, and liberal political rhetoric daily! Online hw is very challenging. Extra credit boosts your grade, so take advantage of that! Avoid at all costs!
This guy is great, but he's very um passionate. He brags about his son and daughter a lot. He is hilarious when he goes on hour political rants. #lovesit
Prof. Thomsen is super funny, makes the class interesting. Take notes, study well and you will pass.
No question, THE WORST professor I have ever taken at ARC. Personal political agenda, don't get him started on the legalization of marijuana, it's ridiculous, argumentative, disrespectful, especially to those students who disagree w him. Doesnt follow his slides when lectures, skips and goes off track and when he gets behind you pay. pass on him.
Either take his lecture and lab or dont take him at all. Otherwise the chapter differences are too hard to handle and its extremely difficult to follow. Dont bring plastic water bottles. He hit on this one chick in front of the whole class. Soooo awkward. Yeah, I wont take him again for sure
By far the worst professor to ever walk this earth. I took his lab class only. He doesn't lecture, he expects you to know everything. 20+ labs and you have to do them by yourself. He doesn't grade them, just runs through it and marks them off. Two tests. My class average was a 36%. Don't take him! Not passionate about his job. Absolutely pathetic.
He is a really good professor. He knows a ton about geography and is there to help If you ask him. Make sure you STUDY if you want a good grade. His review questions go right with the test. Loves lectures and he's super funny. I'd take him again.
Do not take him! Worst pro I ever took
Thomsen is a hard professor for sure. Not to the point of being terrible, like most say on here. He wants every student to succeed and he will help ONLY those who want to succeed. Honestly though, if the student is not there to succeed, then what else can he do? Overall, he's an okay professor, but I'd take him again and study harder for the exams.
Thomsen is awesome! He really cares about the class and his students. If you come to class, pay attention, and ask questions you will pass.
Thomsen is terrible. He is rude, doesn't listen to the student, and goes on random tangents. He expects you to know what he's talking about, as if you were the one who graduated with a degree in this subject). He always complains that students don't pass his test and wonders why (it's because he is so awful).
I absolutely couldn't stand coming to class in the beginning of the semester I thought that Charlie was obnoxious. However, after some getting use to, I realize that professor Thomsen is really an awesome dude that has a lot to offer his students. Great teacher, I would definitely take him again.
Professor Thomsen is really funny and passionate about the subject. Although, his lectures may sometimes go off track, which is okay, but the amount of information you need to learn is overwhelming. The test covers ALOT of information so be ready to study. He allows a 4x6 card to be used on the tests. Overall, this was a good class.
I really enjoyed taking this class! He's passionate about his job and you can tell. He is always willing to help his students during and after class hours. I ended up getting a B :)
If you're not an idiot this will be one the more interesting and entertaining classes you will take, if you are an idiot, it would still be pretty easy to pass. He really is passionate about getting his students to understand the material and uses different ways to get you to learn. Homework is light and he uses the EXACT same question's on test.
Professor Thomsen is both awesome and awful. He knows so much about geography and is passionate about it, however he can be very rude and insensitive. The great side is that he's funny, class material is interesting and he does care. I think he just doesn't realize how rude he come across as. It's not an easy A class but not hard either.
The main grade comes from the tests that you take in class. 10% of the grade comes from doing online quizzes. The professor is very passionate about the subject he teaches and I enjoyed his lectures, however, very often he shared his political point of view and got off topic (not too professional). IF you are GOOD at taking exams, you'll do great
Be Aware!!! if you don't take him as a lecture teacher for Geog then don't take him at all. He will curse at you in front of the whole class. He is rude and does not care weather you know what you are doing or no. You will go home with a headache and regretting ever taking his class. ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE IN HIS CLASS.!!
Honestly one of the best professors I've ever taken. Actually managed to make geography, a loathed subject, really interesting! A lot of these reviews talk about his political views and that really scared me at first but it's worth saying that those beliefs are liberal, and he brings up some really amazing points. Loved his class and him!!
DONT TAKE HIM. Extremely rude and sarcastic humorthat can rub many the wrong way. Poorly explains every lab and gets angry when people don't understand the material. His personality completely ruins his class because he regularly insults students and cusses. Thin skinned students beware!! You also have to buy the lab manual he wrote for 85 bucks!!
Don't take this class unless you enjoy being scared to ask questions. If you ask any questions, he makes you feel stupid and doesn't give you an answer. You are basically left to figure it out on your own. If he has to explain anything he gets angry, does a bad job of describing it, and describes it to you like you are an annoyance to him
I do not recommend him specially if Geog is not your main major.
Two things, math should be a prerequisite. The other is U should take the lecture class at the same time or have had just taken it last semester. This class could be hard if u dont know what ur supposed to know before taking it. He will make sure u understand it tho even if it means spending two weeks on one topic. He is all about student success
Field GEOG class. Although not required, he is vegetation heavy on scientific terms. You just have to participate and you will pass. All he is looking for is if you learned anything from the class. Must turn in field journal on trip on what you learned.
Truthfully if your taking this lab class for a GE course runaway I should of listened and never took the class dont get me wrong the teacher is decent but Im a business major and this is one of the hardest classes Im taking and theres no tutors so your kinda on your own its really gona be a lil hard if you have no background in world geography
I regret taking this class so much... He is an awesome human; laid back & a good person but not a good teacher... at all!! I only have him for LAB but he does NOT lecture and when he does it is like he expects you to have already learned the concepts. I stress about this class a lot and i dont advise anyone to take it if you are only needing GE.
DO NOT TAKE HIS COURSE! He's very disrespectful to his students. I've never met anyone who tells their students "that was a stupid question" or uses the F word while talking to us. He constantly goes out of his to embarass people and doesn't see anything wrong with it. He thinks he's funny but he's not. I withdrew from his class asap. BEWARE!!!!
Way too many quizzes. 2 quizzes every week no matter what. But during midterms and finals its 2 quizzes and 2 tests. He makes you do a final pretest which is pretty pointless and makes it feel like you are taking two finals.
I took this class 3 times in order to pass. He always reached out before I did when I was struggling. Even though it was completely online I learned a lot about geography. You just have to do the work. He makes it to where it's easy to catch up if you're behind. I was behind and 2 days before finals I was at 28% but I caught up to a 90%
Extremely clear and organized from the very start. Lectures are long but super helpful (watch at 2x speed, it helps). You can still pass if you read the information page and not watch his lectures. His exams (2) and labs take time but they're doable. Accepts late work and is flexible. He is for students, helps in ways he can. Pretty kind and funny.
Teaches from the textbook he wrote and is kinda prideful about it in a rude way, got upset at me when I tried to explain that I have a hard time learning from reading textbooks. There is SO MUCH material, and it's so time consuming. Honestly remembering the information I was being taught was pretty difficult. I don't feel like I learned much.
Good professor, clearly very passionate about his subject. Sometimes a bit harsh on students, but he means well, and isn't usually trying to come off harsh. Quizzes and discussions given every week that give you 2 tries, so the work isn't very difficult. Can turn in work for 100% at any time, extremely lenient with late work. Lots of reading.
I took a field studies class and really enjoyed it! He was passionate about the topic and gave clear examples of the material. You turn in your field journal for a grade but as long as you participate, have fun, and enjoy the outdoors it's an easy A. I took two of his and loved every second.
Overall, he's a good professor who's accessible almost anytime. If you need to take this course to fulfil a requirement and there are not many options, I would choose him because his course isn't difficult and he's a mediocre professor. I took the online course he offered and I had to put in a good amount of time every week for the assignments.
I usually don't rate professors, but I do want to thank Professor Thomsen because he definitely made my semester better. He assigns two quizzes a week as well as a discussion post. The quizzes aren't very long, so there's nothing to stress about. I would definitely recommend him, he will give good feedback, and respond to emails fast!
Charlie seemed to be a cool person overall. He emphasized how much he wanted students to succeed but could be a teeny tiny bit condescending at times. It seemed he expected everyone to be as passionate/ knowledgeable about geography as he was. I will say he is very flexible as far as late work which was so helpful! Meh, I'd take his class again.
Took his GEOG 300 class. Super chill professor, definitely passionate about geography. The class itself isn't hard, you just really have to memorize the facts. He goes through fill-in-the-blank packets for his lectures so it's really easy to follow along and easy to know what material is really important/what's going to be on the tests and quizzes
He's super passionate and funny. I love his personality and his enthusiasm for educating. If you're unsure about anything just ask, he'll answer. There's so much material given for you to succeed. I'm super bummed this semester is almost over with his class. This was my fav class this semester & I'm a business major. 10/10 recommend ;)
Professor Thomsen is passionate about geography, but can be a bit rigid. The workload is heavy, with weekly quizzes and discussions. However, he's flexible on late work. I found unstuck study and the free textbook helpful for exam prep.
Professor Thomsen was amazing. He listened to my concerns about how I was having difficulties understanding the assignments in his online Lab class. He suggested that I should enroll in his in-person class and that made a big difference for me because I am a visual learner. He's always ready to help. Highly recommend this professor!
Took his online class for Geography, it was very fun, just short discussions on 10 minute videos weekly and short quiz. Recommend this class and professor.
Professor Thomsen is so awesome, caring, and looks out for every single one of his students. His videos are super easy to follow. This was my favorite class this semester. He makes learning fun and interactive. If you are looking for an easy professor who will actually teach you about geography, Professor Thomsen is perfect!
