I liked this teacher and his style. He would allow debates in the class and would parallel current events to the material in class. He opened up my mind to different trains of thought.

I liked most of the class. His teaching style was to get the class invovled in debates about different topics such. He was very understanding about students' problems. He was sometimes disorganized. He was 45 minutes late to his final.half the class left

This is not an easy class. It is, however, very interesting. Dr. Turner is a good lecturer. There is a lot of reading and several writing assignements. If you have an interest in multi-cultural history, this is the instructor to take. If your writing skills are poor, look for a different class.

Very simple and informative class. Teacher is not opinionated or rude about subject matter or topics. Welcomes questions and curiousity about subject matter. Take online class if you can, all the quizzes are open book and you can take them twice. Easy, mellow class, but you will learn.

Dr. Turner is a very nice guy so I have a hard time saying mean things about him...BUT, his class is VERY boring, he repeats himself way too much. He doesn't have a structured teaching style and is unorganized. Lots of quizzes on web-ct, and a 9 page paper at the end of the semester.

Dr. Turner is the best history teacher I've ever had, hands down. Having said that, there are a few things you need to know about his classes, if you really plan on getting a good grade. A) Come to learn. B)Show up to class. C)Actually do the reading D)Participate, and you should be fine. He's very fair, and worked with me to improve my grade. A+

Dr. Turner is THE best teacher I've had. I've had him both online and on campus. Awesome instructor. I highly recommend him. As long as you attend, participate in the discussions, and READ, you'll do fine. Although his exams are a little tough.

Dr. Turner is a great teacher. He is probably the most understanding teacher as far as being concerned for students with other obligations other than school. Dr. Turner makes you question your own thoughts and feelings. The online HIST18 was very easy, however, test questions REQUIRE you to have read the materiel. Other than tests, it was easy.

I took his History 10 class online. Dr. Turner is a great teacher. He is understanding, but very blunt about his feelings concerning procrastination. You do need to read the chapters to be able to do a good job on the essays and the quizzes. Overall, I wouldn't say the class was "easy" but I wouldn't call it "hard" either. I would take him again.

Great teacher! Very friendly and respectful. I have taken two of his classes and my only complaint is that he takes awhile to grade but that is a small price to pay! Expect to read the chapters he assigns because all of his quizzes directly reflect the readings.

Highly recommended! Almost hate to say it but he is too good of a teacher to be at Butte. His classes are interesting and thought provoking. He makes history fun and relates it to today. He is easy to talk to and not condescending. If you really want to learn, take Turner.

I took History 18 with Dr T. and would love to take another class from him again. He had outspoken and profound things to say about our history, and I found myself often fist pumping and yelling, "You go Dr. T!" at some of the things he stated. I normally suck at history, but he's leniant with writing assignment deadlines which is nice.

Great teacher, easy class. I loved it i got a F with another teacher and i re took with turner and passed with a B. I learned so much 10 years from now I will remember the things i learned in this class. His book is great, small chapters but packed with detail. Take him!

I took this course online. The subject matter was clear and stayed on subject. Topics and exams went well with the materials provided. He was great and opened up all the lessons after break so we could get ahead if we wanted to, understanding the busy schedule of a college student.

This was a great class. I took it online. Everything was organized well, and he gave you until the end of the semester to complete all the work. Although, the class was kind of time-consuming even if you did keep up and do a unit each week. (Probably because I know next to nothing about history, so I had to more extensive research.)

Nice guy but his teaching style is very repetitive and doesn't address the big picture on what his point is. He is a good guy but he likes starting arguments among his discussion topics so you have to be careful what you say or you can infuriate other students

This class was very easy. Work was due every week, but you can pretty much work at your own pace. There isn't a lot of homework. Tests are easy to find in the reading material. He's a great professor. I'm taking his History 10 class Fall 2013 semester.

Dr. Turner is a gift to Butte College. He takes the history of the United States, strips all the pretty clothes off, and exposes all that is real and honest. Amongst the bloodied ugliness of our countries past, you will gain understanding and begin to see the greater picture. Excellent professor and historian. Do the work and you will succeed.

HIGHLY recommend this class to anyone that needs to satisfy a diversity requirement for Chico State transfer. All HWQZT's online and he keeps them open all semester long, so if you fall behind you have plenty of time to catch up. Accepts all late assignments and keeps your prepared for midterm and final. Interesting lectures, funny, great dude.

I really liked Professor Turner. He so well educated and in my opinion over qualified for butte. He's so respectable and just interesting to talk to. All the homework is online (a quiz, a posting, and a short essay) due weekly on the reading. Class isn't mandatory but you felt bad for not going because he's so nice. Take it if you like history

Dr. Turner is the most respectable teachers i have ever studied under. He is more like a mentor and really cares about his students and helping them see history in a new light. He is very knowledgeable, kind, respectful to his students, and shows grace to those who deserve it. Best History teacher at butte college by far.

Online course, so expect discussions, weekly writing assignments and chapter exams. If you don't read the text book you wont pass. Exam questions are straight out of the text book, so reread text before taking exam. Overall interesting material

Currently attending his online history class and it's rather enjoyable. Dr. Turner inspires his students to engage in discussions with one another. His quizzes are book heavy, so read a lot! It's easy to get an A in this class as long as you read and attend the discusions+the writing assignments. 1 quiz, 1 discussion, and 1 writ. assign weekly.

I had Dr. Turner for two semester and I enjoyed his lectures. I would take him again and would recommend him to anyone especially non-history majors. You have to work for an A in his class. Hist 30 is structured in having a online reading quiz, a online discussion, and an online paper every week. He also makes you do a book review.

Probably the best online class I have taken. The material was really interesting. I took it during the summer so it was a little faster paced, but I plan on taking History 8 with him also as he is a fair professor that seems to have a passion for his work.

Lots of reading, lots of writing BUT a GREAT professor. You can turn anything late and he will still accept it for full credit and he is not a hard grader.

If you need an online history class, take Dr. Turner. His class is structured well with a clear agenda every week. His feedback is amazing and insightful. I took the class for a GE requirement, but I did end up learning a lot more than I anticipated. Overall an excellent instructor I would recommend to anyone.

Took Multicultural US Hist online over summer and he made sure to ask the hard questions about society that really forced me to think and made the discussion posts very interesting. Would have loved to have taken this in person simply to engage in conversation with him. Brilliant man, caring teacher.

Dr. Turner is an absolute fantastic instructor! He gives such enlightening feedback on the assignments you do that you not only learn from the material but you really learn from him to. He is a laid back grader so if you read the material and put in enough effort youll earn a good grade. There is a lot of reading however so come prepared!

Tests are on quizlet. Writing assignments are key concepts for the chapter so it tells you exactly where its mentioned on the 1st pg of chap. Discussion posts can be BSed or copied from everyone else. Super easy class finished it over spring break! Recommend finishing it the first week or spring break to get it out of the way. NEED book only 17$

He gives one writing assignment, one discussion and one quiz a week. Reading is one chapter and some additional resources to complete understanding of subject. He unlocks all assignments so if you want to, you can finish the entire class in a matter of a few weeks.

HIST 10 class online. Great professor. However, it really irks that it specifically states in the syllabus to get the fifth edition instead of the fouth.I bought the fifth edition in paper and I have the fourth edition online and its the same book except maybe one sentence per two pages. SAVE ur money get the cheaper one

He will answer all your questions, and he provides useful feedback in all your essays. HIST18 involves a lot of controversial discussions but he keeps it open and respectful. PLEASE PLEASE take this professor's course. I have no words to capture the impact that Dr. Turner has made on me. His fast course is alot of reading but he is so SO understanding and caring. I have never had a professor or teacher in general actually care about your well being like him. I will never forget his corse.

This professor clearly stated what needed to be done for every assignment. It is quite a bit of reading but for this specific course the reading is necessary to complete the assignments well. I also enjoyed how he will respond to all assignments with paragraphs of insight about the topic. You can tell he genuinely cares.

Turner was an amazing professor. History is not a subject I enjoy, but at the end of the semester, I enjoyed his class immensely. I had a family emergency and he was extremely kind and unproblematic when I needed an extension. He was also extremely passionate about the topic which made him more interesting and fun to learn from.

Great class, you read the textbook chapter and do a short writing assignment, a discussion post, and a quiz. He is really chill about grading, and if you do the work it'll be fine if you show that you're engaging with the content. Tech-wise he got confused about some due dates--so there were a couple of random changes/extensions.

I love my African American history class. The literature is great, he responds thoroughly to his students and his grading criteria makes sense! Great professor.
