Great Prof. Very Helpful with everything, expects you to learn in class, but will go out of his way to help you pass
He gives you all the notes...His lectures are okay. His tests are horrendous...but if you study you will do okay. I put in 6-8 hours everyday for his class. I am pulling an A...but it has been hard. His tests are all multiple choice...but not information from his lectures or notes...be prepared to study your fanny off!
Great professor - he is a great teacher and lectures are interesting. Completely notes based - don't bother to buy the book. Tests are hard, but if you study, you will do okay. He drops the lowest lecture and lab grade which helps.
I took this guy for physiology and it was the worst experience I've had at ACC. The prof seems uninterested and not very knowledgable about physio. His tests repeat questions and his notes are full of errors. The lab documents were often unorganized and difficult to follow.
You have to study quite a bit for this class. His notes are a bit confusing, but if you study them, you'll do fine. He repeats questions, but it can be good if you know the answers! There are lot of opportunities to do well.
He was a really nice guy, and his lectures were pretty good, but I felt like his tests weren't from his notes, and he was very inconsistent in his testing (test style changed everytime). He is hard, but you learn a LOT!
You'll print off notes for his class, and he says he tests only from them, but READ THE BOOK! His notes can be cryptic, and the book will help you fill in the gaps that his lecture won't. Also, be prepared for fill-in-the-blank tests. He provides extra credit and will drop your lowest grade, which helps.
Does a great job of presenting the material in a relevant way. Tests from his notes...barely used the book. Exams can be multiple choice or fill in the blank (mostly the lab exams). Very helpful and approachable, gentle soul. You WILL need to study. Study the models well during your lab time.
He's a nice guy. However, he tends to ramble in his lectures which can be entertaining and/or annoying. I did laugh a lot in his class. He isn't a good test maker and there are lots of ambiguous questions that weren't in the notes, but he does give extra points. It's an fairly easy B but a hard A unless you put a lot of work into the class.
He was really easy and helpful for the Intro class. He obviously knows the information and does a good job of teaching it. However, his Human Anatomy class is more difficult. His tests are pretty hard, but if you put in the time, do any practice tests, and know all the answers to the objectives for lab an A is definitely possible.
Very good at relating to real life. Very enjoyable!
Super smart, nice and fair. Keeps class interesting. Lots of opportunity for extra credit - but don't expect an easy A. Expect to study a lot. But he drops the lowest test grade, so that is nice. Highly recommended.
This guy is HARD! I studied so hard and ended up with a B. What makes Physiology difficult are his test formats..both a and b; b only, 2 of these answers; none of these answers
Took him Summer 2009 for Physiology. Got an A; however, it seems as though Mr. Wayne knows very little about physiology. Looking back, I'm not sure I learned too much or why I received an A? I don't understand his grading techniques. His favorite response to cut-and-dry questions is "Yes, but no." Seems like he doesn't know much about phys.
Really nice man. Really hard class. I got an A but to this day...I really couldn't tell you how. I studied like crazy but his grading is whacked. Do I really know physiology now??? I don't think he taught me what I really needed to know. sad.
Knows his stuff! Very helpful, approachable, gentle soul, he IS a teacher. I used old edition of text w/ no problems, primarily as a reference to expand on lecture notes he provides. I got an A but HAD to study! I enjoyed & appreciated his real life examples & sense of humor. He does not require attendance but you have got to go to keep up.
Provides lec material; use text for reference (older edition will work). Grade based on five tests each in lec & lab with a few other lab assignments. Was like we were on our own, and he was just there to answer questions. Don't feel like I learned much. Requires lots of self-teaching and study time to get an A. Bomb tests, bomb class.
Gives lecture notes. He is very scattered brained and teaches the same way, Jumping from A&P PPT to Anatomy PPT. He rambles spending more time on a subject then necessary. I recommend that you get supplement material because you will have to do a lot to self teaching. He says that all test material comes from lecture notes, they don't
Took distance learning class. Tests come from book and notes. If you devote a lot of time to studying you will make an A. He gives extra points and is always trying to help the students with different forms of extra credit.
Great guy for a yankee! Use his lecture notes and the book is just extra study for test. He's helpful if you ask for it, just seems cold because he comes from the north. An easy B but a hard A, just need to study and participate in Labs. Really understand the material.
Course notes cut/pasted from several sources & poorly organized. Unpredictable tests w/extra credit, but also q's not covered in material; lots of ambiguous, tricky wording. Very slow to return grades even wtih scantron tests. Nice guy, but the combination of haphazard teaching, unclear expectations and poorly written tests is not good. Avoid.
Avoid this teacher!HARD!Study group participation communication essential Proactive Teacher Interaction mimimal No textbook,Its needed!Random lectures hop around, test matl does not correlate ever with sylabus reviews.bring recorder to help with lectures, wont review corrected test answers? Papers graded SLOW Expected to know everything to pass.
Nice guy so I hate to say it - terrible class. He's disorganized, always behind, can't be bothered to grade tests for 2+ weeks (in an 8-week class!); friendly but seems lazy and uninterested in students' learning. Expect to teach yourself the material. You'll get an A if you're good at guessing what he means on the poorly written exams.
Extremely smart professor and knows the material very well. I took it in the summer--difficult course to fit into 8 weeks. I had to spend more time than usual studying for this class due to the compressed nature of the summer length. Tests are VERY difficult, but he gives lots of extra credit. Great Jersey accent! Very funny and a great lecturer!
Summer session was a mess. He did not follow syllabus, skipped two entire body systems because he was so far behind, threw in an extra lecture test, changed the schedule several times, and scheduled our final for the week after the session finished. If you are an organized person and/or want to actually learn, this class will drive you nuts.
Entire Class GPA was poor tests were difficult to study for and pass notes unrelated to test questions grading SLOW wish i had the choice to pick different Prof i would have learned more extra credit was only savior and workbook grades referenced all home work and impossible to score highly
Avoid this teacher! not worthy, will not help,no pass no curve lectures are random no correlation, book not used, does not care, study groups ok if you get a good group, test question are tricky and most difficult must study full time!! gave up 4.0 for a 78 because he would not help me with additional assigments or extra credit, asked and said no
Agree with other raters - VERY disorganized, but nice, interesting guy. Up to 10 points xcred on every test + other ways too. Believe he bumped my grade to next letter for attend. and part. Tests are HORRENDOUSLY AWFUL - mostly guessed my way to Bs on them (with the xcred). Did not learn as much as liked to. My part? Didn't study enough.
He is the most unorganized and unhelpful professor I have ever encountered. His lecture notes are riddled with typos and missing vital bits of information. He doesn't answer e-mail in a timely fashion and doesn't keep his office hours, won't fix errors in his grading key, and randomly grades people according to if he likes them or not. AVOID!!!
How to accurately convey how TRICKY his tests are? How impatient he is? How he horrified us by raising his voice to my lab group when we didn't understand something? And how to convey that I'm not a whiner or slacker expecting to be spoon-fed? I'm not scared of a tough, organized prof. who lectures clearly. I AM scared of Wayne.
He's not very organized, but he's willing to help you succeed, gives extra credit and really knows his material. Text book usage was minimal, but helps. All his notes are on blackboard and he even has online lectures (very helpful). Human Anatomy is a hard class. Unlike other teachers he doesn't make it even more difficult, he helps.
He is very unorganized. He gives very little guidance on what to study. No text book required.
Online lectures for anatomy are most helpful. I used the book a LOT to supplement his notes, which were a bit scattered. I studied many hours for this A. I found him to be helpful and never felt rushed out of the lab. He is a genuinely nice guy and there are definitely worse teachers out there. Extra credit was available although I didn't need
Professor Wayne is disorganized and the tests are very difficult. Be prepared to be frustrated.
Possibly the most difficult multiple choice exams I've ever taken - wordy questions and numerous tricks in the mpc options. The upside: Wayne is very nice, knows his stuff, and is willing to help. Ace the easier lab exams to help pull your grade up at the end. An A is difficult but not impossible.
I don't know how he grades. Thought I aced my lab final; made a 72. He never returned any of our tests. Nice but awful professor. Do not take. Gave up my 4.0. Got a B. Doesn't know phys as well as the Intro to A&P profs.
Pay attention to everything. You will need to STUDY and UNDERSTAND material, not just regurgitate. Tests are HARD. He will explain concepts if you ask him. Know the models well. Do extra credit early on; class heats up at the end. Go to class & don't leave early - he notices. Listen to every word he says - there are pearls. Learned a lot.
I had to drop because of personal reasons, but I would have liked to finish. He's a bit disorganized, but a really nice guy who is invested in the students. It's a difficult class with a HEAVY emphasis on lab. If you have 8-10 hours a week to spend on lab, I recommend. Otherwise, avoid.
Great class and great teacher! Really cares about his students passing! Print notes from Blackboard and bring them to class, get your lab book started early, use his power points for lab test studying, and spend time outside of class studying and you'll be fine. I was an art major before this and made an A. If I can do it, anyone can!
disorganized, unhelpful, belittling, egomaniac. ridiculous workload. all ROTE and i learned next to nothing. poor excuse for a prof. beware...
Ridiculously hard tests, unrealistic work load, notes not helpful and disorganized, belittles students who ask questions, and gets defensive when challenged. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Very unorganized. Get your lab book started early. Although I spent sooo much time on it and he just opened the binder, flipped one page and gave me a 100 when another girl got a 107 when it was not as good in my opinion. Does curve a lot though which is nice. Study a lot. Lectures are outdated. Goes off subject a lot also. I would avoid taking him
Lots and lots of busy work. If you like writing, this is your class. Tests are hard. NO study guide. Difficult to make 100 on online tests. Disorganzed. Nice and generous with grades. Lab reports are time consuming but necessary. Hard grader. Start lab book beginning of semester. You can make a good grade, if you earn it.
His test are very hard, he doesn't use the book at all. His lectures are very confusing. Seems a little disorganized. I took his class this summer and I learned a lot from him, but his test were very hard if you didn't understand the lecture, and his lab tests are very confusing because he never tells you what will be on the Lab test. :(
Easy class and nice, devoted proffessor. If you're willing to work hard you will definitely make an A. The notes, the self-study tests and the pre-tests are the keys. I would recommend.
He is a great professor. His information is clear and concise. This class is intensive because of the content NOT the professor. He is very easy to talk to, understanding, and helpful. This class you have to put effort into however He is a fair grader and offers lots of opportunities to get an A.
I wish I could take this professor again but I cant. He makes it clear what is required. I know a lot of people dropped. You will pass easily if science is for you but if it isn't then you may have trouble.
Prof. Wayne writes his own extensive notes so you don't need to buy the textbook. His lectures are useful and funny. All ACC physiology labs are the same and involve a ton of work. All of his exams are multiple choice with an essay for extra credit. There are sometimes 100+ questions. The questions are difficult and make you think.
Nice guy and is helpful in labs. HOWEVER, hardest class I have EVER taken in college. Tests are VERY difficult and even online tests it is impossible to make 100%. Definitive answers on ANY test is difficult. Lectures are VERY long and mostly confusing. Please DO NOT TAKE his class and use another professor if you want to PROPERLY learn Physiology.
Professor Wayne is a trip. His class was kind of all over the place. Labs didn't line up with the material we were studying so we had no idea what the labs meant as we were doing them. His material contained errors, especially the tests! He was nice enough to go back and fix the test errors though. His train of thought was often lost. Good luck!
Professor Wayne is incredibly nice and while he does have a tendency to go off on rabbit trails at times, he can be very funny. He provides tons of supplemental material for you to use as study aids (almost too much, at times the extra helps felt overwhelming). Tests are definitely challenging but if you put the time in, you can do very well.
No study guides for test, no homework, just lectures and then he tells you to go watch the recorded online lecture too... You'll teach yourself. Takes WEEKS to give you grades back and then won't show you the test unless you see him before class in his office. Many mistakes grading caught this way! Ask to check or just steer clear all together.
Prof. Wayne is a genuinely nice guy who really knows his stuff. His lectures are sometimes difficult to follow & lab is pretty much self taught. His tests are very confusing but fair. Best tip - He pays close attention to your participation in class & wants students to work hard & prove they're dedicated. Show that & he will reward you in the end.
Prof Wayne seems to be holding on to his job by the barest of threads. He is insanely disorganized, his lectures are slow and tangential, veering of into tv shows or interpersonal conflicts or whatever pops into his head, and there are a too many pointless lab assignments. Nice guy but, don't take class if you want to actually learn the material.
He's a nice guy and willing answer students' questions. But his lecture was long and difficult to follow a little bit. Lab class was so easy. If you want to get an A, you have to read alot (his lectures and material online or book). Work hard and try your best. He will give you bonus point at the end.
Professor Wayne is not a bad teacher. He expects his students to study and to use critical thinking. He works with students and knows his stuff. If you take his class you need to learn the information that you are given without much busy work. This is a class for those who want to be challenged to learn.
Not a very good professor. His notes are disorganized, and he says he pulls test material from them but he does not. He tells you to get a book but he does not follow the textbook either. I had other professors who told me how sorry they were that I had him for A and P II. I would stay clear of this professor. Ruined my 4.0 GPA.
Professor is great personalities! He is ready to help if you want to make a good grade! Keep studying and work hard, you will get an A for this class!
If you take Prof Wayne start your lab book day 1 and keep up with it. It will help you study and is an 100 if youve done a good job completing it. Go to class and lab for 2 reasons .. you will learn more whats on tests but he also pays attention to who is present.
Prof. Wayne continued his proficient professing in the subsequent class to his first A&P. Tests are sometimes copies of the pretest--with a few strings attached. Yes, like many of these comments may say: he is very disorganized. But I promise you, it will not hurt your grade. Not if you keep focus on what's going on. Drops lowest test at the end.
I took an 8-week hybrid A&P I course. Lecture exams count for 70% and range from 60 to 80 questions. Pre-tests are available but don't bother trying to remember the questions, they more than likely not be on the actual exam. If you fail a practical, you might as well drop the class, as these are by far the easiest part of the course.
Great prof. I took his lecture as distance learning and there were no assignments or quizzes - just 6 tests and an optional xtra credit research paper. Lab was super lax. There were no lab quizzes, 2 lab assignments and 4 tests. He graded lab notebooks at the very end. Retaking him for a&p II next semester.
I asked what I need to study, his reply was "Everything!" Very vague. Every time I would ask a specific question, he would give me a generic answer. He seems like he doesn't want to be there, but he's forced to. Has no interest in teaching. Kind of a "here's the material, now do it" kinda guy.
Prof. Wayne is great. I'm taking his condensed hybrid class and despite what other reviews say, he really does give you everything you need to get an A. You just have to pay attention when he is speakingbecause he is very clear in his expectations and gives out clues/answers. He seems very passionate about teaching and is willing to help students.
I dont understand why so many people gave him bad reviews. He is a great professor who provides notes and lecture videos to help you study. His test come from that material and a book is not required. Expect to put in the work as it is a hard course but if you do so you will pass. He gives extra credit and if very helpful.
Amazing professor, funny guy, and definitely cares about his students and is willing to help out, stay after class, and ensure you understand the material. Like the other poster said, I don't understand why he has any bad reviews. It's clear to see he is passionate about what he's teaching and gives every opportunity for you to get good grade.
I took the hybrid class for 2nd semester of A&P. The way Dr. Wayne presents the material is overwhelming, disjointed, and disorganized. I didn't watch any of the video lectures, only attended half the labs, and I got an A. Lecture exams are the same questions as the pretests. If you actually want to learn, this is not the prof to make you do it.
I took the hybrid 8 week A&P 2. I don't recommend it if you are not self-disciplined since the lecture part is on your own. He game incomplete video lectures, notes that aren't always clear, and assigned reading from the book to help. Despite that he's a knowledgable helpful teacher. He grades lab easily. Curves. Plus test 3, 4, 5 are the pretest.
C. Wayne- my favorite! He definitely cares about his students and listens to their needs. I put in 25hrs/wk of studying simply because of the amount of material that is in an Anatomy and Physiology class. Professor Wayne is clear about what you need to do for his class, however, and helps you if you ask. I highly recommend him.
Basically be prepared to teach yourself. Lectures very derailed and off track. Very sweet guy and tries to provide real life examples. Test questions come from pretests he posts before exams.
Professor Wayne has taught this class a long time and is a good lecturer. He is funny and approachable. You don't have to use an expensive book or submit stuff online, (at least not before Covid19) because he goes by his notes. This way you can get a cheap, older edition for reference. A lot of memorization, but that's A &P!
Mr. Wayne is one of the greatest professors that Ive taken for an Introduction of Anatomy and Physiology course. He is super helpful and gives you feedback on what to do to improve your grade and helps with finding easier ways for you to study do you wont be lost. Hes very understand as long as you keep him updated. Great professor.
Took online class but went in for labs until the school closed due to Covid. He would ramble on sometimes during lab so sometimes he was hard to follow. He understands that things come up and will work with you as long as you let him know what is going on.
Dr. Wayne is an actually sweet professor. He understands that it is important for many people to get a good grade in this class and makes it easy to obtain it. We did not use lock down browser/respondus for test during COVID but he said he will use it fall 2020. Test 3,4,5 is the same as review. Lab test were pretty easy as long as u attended lab.
Absolutely loved taking Professor Wayne! I took an 8 week summer A&P2 course with him and i was honestly coming into it thinking Cs get degrees. Hes a great professor, with little assignments. Tests 3-5 are the pretests exactly! 3 lab practicals, 1 lab book, and 5 lab assign. that you can copy and paste from google and get easy As. TAKE HIM
Such an amazing professor. 5 lecture exams, 3 lab exams, lab notebook, and 5 assignments. He is clear about what it is expected and is always there to help. I wish I would of taken him for A&P 1. He provides everything you need in order to succeed in the class. By far the best A&P professor at ACC.
Dr. Wayne is a nice guy. However, if you want someone who's a good direct lecturer he is not. His class was very disorganized. The lab ran ahead of the lecture which made it harder to keep up with. Lecture tests are 70% of the grade, so make sure you're prepared. An A is very doable you just need to study and the material is dense but its A&P!
He an okay professor. very impatient at times. He gives out pretests before the lecture exam and test 3-5 are the pretests. There are 5 lecture exams 3 lab exams, lab notebook, and 5 assignments. The lecture tests are very long like up to 50-100 questions. Also the notes he give is a lot which is why he doesnt have a textbook.
Id recommend reading your textbook because his notes dont correlate with the test. 3-5 exams are the pretest. 5 assignments are super easy. 80-100 test questions. Not timed. Lab book is easy, just do it. Grades easy on those. Labs are easy. Made everything due at the end of the semester so he works with everyones schedule. Easy A. Take him.
I took Professor Wayne for A&P 1 as an 8 week summer course. The class was completely online with synchronous labs. He did a great job teaching this course! He tells you exactly what you need to know and cuts out the extra fluff. Due dates are flexible so you need to work well independently to succeed. Overall, I highly recommend him!
He is such a chill dude! very understanding and wants you to succeed. The tests are difficult and proctored but after the first lecture exam, the pre-tests prepare you well *hint* for the tests after that first one. GO TO CLASS! he's lecture heavy but that's how you learn. Lab exams will always be hard so just make that effort to learn the body.
He was really understanding and truly wanted the students to succeed. He gave out multiple extensions on due dates and extra credit. Really the best way to succeed was to show up to the lectures. He ended up giving extra credit to those that showed up close to every time. He was very helpful and always willing to answer questions and explain.
Prof Wayne is THE NICEST professor I have come across!! I did a hybrid class so much of it was on my own, but he gives you all the info you need to know for tests. There are no surprises. He wants you to pass. He provides you with all the info you need. His lectures are long but hes funny amd makes class fun. Definitely take him again.
He provides everything you need to know for the test in his lecture notes and videos. Also, make sure you take the pre-test quizzes because some of the questions are on the test. Go through all the folders and look over everything multiple times. Make sure you stay on top of the class and you'll do great.
Wayne wants you to pass. Show up to class and do the work and you will pass. Tests are here and there, sometimes you are prepared and sometimes you are not. I would definitely take him though. He truly cares about his students.
The best professor I have had at ACC. He cares about teaching, and makes the material accessible. It is a difficult class, but he wants you to succeed, and goes out of his way to make himself available. He is flexible with deadlines, which really helps in a shortened 8 week course.
Professor Wayne is super caring about his students, he wants everyone to succeed. He gives lots of things to study for his exams, if you attend lectures and work on pretest you will pass!
Tests had material not covered in class.
Really nice person, but most of the lectures did not have anything to do with the test. Really difficult course, get ready to read, ask questions and STUDY A LOT. Labs were easy 100s but your grade is mostly based on your lecture and lab quizzes.
Super easy to get an A in this course bc a lot of his pretests match the actual exams but do not take his class if you wish to set yourself up for success in the
By far the most difficult course I've taken (even as intro). Labs not terrible but exams required close studying of models & often had errors in them. Lectures are very long, course notes are provided. Tests are very difficult, some are open note. Study - work ahead always! Wayne is awesome but is disorganized and forgetful. Emails = hit or miss.
First time taking a science pre req on a college level and prof. W made it so easy for me! just to the work and put the time and effort to review and study his course notes and you will be fine! - great teacher! we wants you to enjoy and learn from his class
Not difficult to succeed if you study a LOT outside of class. His exams are similar to the practice ones, and he provides a lot of notes. His lectures are very long and packed with material. I found it easier to just teach myself the material based on the notes rather than his lectures. He's not very good at answering questions or emails either.
Prof W is very sweet & knowledgeable. He's flexible with deadlines & some of the exams are open note/team-oriented which is much appreciated. The test reviews are helpful. However, both the online lecture materials & labs performed in class are very long & unorganized, so a lot of time spent doing outside research is needed to retain all the info.
Prof Wayne makes the material very accessible. His lectures are comprehensive, and the pre-test quizzes are super helpful for exam prep. Utilize unstuck study and stay on top of coursework - easy A with this professor.
Bad at taking notes like me TAKE HIM. he records his lectures where you can watch them back from his online class. Always watch them you learn from them too. He wants you to pass. If you have test anxiety take him most are at home or open book. Labs exams you work with your table to help each other and all lec and lab test are multiple choice.
The most pointless class I've ever taken in college. Truly a joke. First exam is from the book which he told us not to study. Exams 2-5 are the pretest. Lab assignments are long - just find the quizlet. Labs are also a joke - take home or open book exams. Easiest A you will ever receive, but you won't learn a single thing.
Professor Wayne is very helpful and interactive with his class. Had no issues with him or his teaching. His lab assignments are great for memorizing definitions and our tests are what you expect for a anatomy course.
If want an easy A, take him. Most of his exams are open note, collaborative, or the same as the pretests. The labs and assign. are quizlets you can search up. If you're looking to learn something, you might want to pick another Prof. He's just set the class up to ensure you get an A. That said, he is a good person and cares about the material.
Mid. Not hard on deadlines, that's a plus. Not very helpful. I would go to office hours to ask questions and leave with nothing addressed really. I feel like there were questions on the exams that were not covered anywhere in the labs or lectures. The blackboard is also set up very poorly. Not really his fault, I get it's hard. But it's incoherent.
Professor Wayne is super caring, and is willing to help or answer questions. The course itself is extremely unorganized and he isn't a clear communicator. I really don't feel like I learned anything, and was honestly just confused about what to do the whole time. An easy course work-wise, but literally did not know what was going on.
He is kind and genuinely tries to help, but the hybrid course lacks structure and clear guidance. The material is challenging to learn independently, and the pre-recorded lectures don't align well with the exams. Better organization and a stronger connection between lessons and assessments would significantly improve the class.
Love the way he structured his online A&P1 course. It's a hard subject, so you have to put lots time and effort into studying on your own, but he's great at explaining the material and is always available to help with any questions. Stay on top of your graded assignments as you go, they're very helpful. Memorize anatomy by drawing it over and over!
