Charlie is an awesome teacher. Must work hard for the good grade, however, it pays off. Looks like Hell's angel dude. But the nicest man you can ever encounter, along as attend all classes and prove you are really trying.
great stories and analogy. A genius
he is a great teacher, the class isn't easy but if you work hard you can get a good grade, he is one of those teachers who really wants you to suceed
ENTHUSIASTIC, KNOWLEDGEABLE, THIS IS A TERRIFIC PROGRAM WITH LOTS OF RESOURCES.
DIFFICULT MATERIAL, HE GETS OFF TOPIC AND TALKS ABOUT HIS OLD DAYS AS A PARTY ANIMAL- WHICH IS HILARIOUS- FALLING OFF WALLS AND SUCH- TOO FUNNY! INTELLIGENT AND KNOWLEDGEABLE- DONT MISS THIS ONE!
Class was extremely enjoyable, labs were fun! Charlie tells great stories and you get to go on fun field trips! Do all the extra credit and the test scores don't matter as much..
Very easy class, love his stories about his past. Great teacher, goes over subjects very well.
I didn't think this class was hard and im the guy whos always looking for the easiest teacher. has some weid stories to tell. lots of extra credit. fianls wernt hard. labs very easy. take notes. final project is a drawing of a house with plants around it
Great instructor -- one of the best I've had at Saddleback.
You have to work very hard in this class. You will really learn a lot if you do. He really wants his students to learn, so you must prove to him that you deserve a good grade. Extra credit assignments are set up to help you learn. Very interesting class
A good teacher.Easy memorization class.Need to have high capacity for memorization, and practice lots by utilizing bones in library.Easiest of Sciences. He gives exactly what is on the tests he sets up.
You think this guy is so weird at first and then he grows on you. As long as you attend and study there is no reason not to get an A. He gives tons of extra credit. He is pretty good at telling you what to study for exams.
He is really cute when he takes his glasses off.I don't know what it is about him but I think his adorable. He seems to be fair, understanding,a great story teller and he is smart smart smart. I think his class is great fun!
This guy knows much more than he lets on. He cares more than he lets on. He is extemely funny and an excellent teacher. If you don't this class your missing out. I think he needs a girlfriend!!!! it would mellow him out a bit.
Am I the only normal person who took this guy. I know at least 5 other people who took this and we all agree he is crazy. The only people who like this guy are plant freaks who 50 years and older. I got a B and still hated him.
This guy is totally cool and his class is really easy. Comes off a little rough at first but he's actually really nice and fair. He actually teaches you stuff you'll use and wants you to do well but doesn't take any BS. Tells a lot of funny stories.
He puts all notes on the board and has a website with them. Everything is clear if you keep up. I enjoyed the subject more than I thought would and some of his stories. Almost no one dropped the class I was in.
He teaches because he wants people to learn. He gives every student every chance in the world to get an A. This class is much better than Anthropology and fills the same gen ed requirement. A truely dedicated professor.
He is not helpful, and his tests are extremly hard.Don't take his class.
Spends too much time pontificating and not enough time educating. An easy science class but if you're just going to school to appease your parents you might actually have to study. I wish this class was more horticulture oriented with harder labs.
The only way you can fail this class is if you don't care, every lecture and lab is posted on the internet, he gives you extra credit on everything and he tells you exactly what is on the test. He really wants you to pass and yes you have to study, it's anatomy.
He is a nice guy. Test is not easy, but all questions are from his note. He gives a lot of extra credit.
Crazy but very cool. The only thing is he trips over cell phones but is very understanding.
HE LIKES TO TELL STORIES THROUGHOUT THE CLASS THAT ARE PRETTY FUNNY. YOU MUST STUDY FOR THE TEST UNLESS YOU KNOW THE MATERIAL PRETTY WELL. HE ONLY KEEPS YOU AT LAB FOR ABOUT AN HOUR SO ITS A EASY CLASS TO PULL THROUGH.
He gives clear notes and tests over exactly what he talks about. He tells it like it is when it comes to your grade and what to study. This helped.
He is a funny guy! He gives us a lot of extra credits. Test is not easy, but all questions are from his note. Take him, and get A!!
He is the best ANATOMY teacher there is @ Saddleback..Makes it easy to understand and tells u exactly what is on the test...Like any class u do have to study...if u study ull do fine..gives e.c. and has alot of funny stories...take him noone else!
No homework, one project, short labs, tests fine so long as you study, plenty of extra credit opportunities, easy A. Very clear, great anonyms, interesting stories. If you're scince-minded or expect horticulture-packed classes, it might not be challenging enough.
This guy really seems to really enjoy teaching. He is bright and very funny! He will always take time to answer your questions. He is one of a kind and teaches a great class. When you get to know him he is quite charming. One of the best professors I have had.Don't miss his classes.
He is the best teacher ever. I am so happy I finally got in his class. he is just awsome. luv 'em.
I had Charlie for anatomy. He has some really funny stories. He looks like a hippie from the 60's. Is a very fair prof and gives every opportunity for success.
Great class for brilliant minds. The whole class is memorization, more than you can imagine.Go over notes daily to retain mass information over span of time.Never miss class. Most stressful class Ive ever taken.Had to drop it, wish I didnt have to cuz it was so interesting.Teacher is very likeable.
Makes learning the HUGE amount of material fun and do-able. He is definitely on the student's side, in terms of fairness and grading, but never compromises the value of learning...always provides a high level of education...wish he could teach all my science classes!
Charlie is an EXCELLENT teacher. This class is hard, you WILL have to study. But the manner in which he gives the material is very no-nonsense. If you take notes on what he puts on the board and STUDY THEM you will do well. I got an A and earned it. GREAT TEACHER, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This class overall was very easy, easy labs, one botanic garden visit, and one easy landscape design project. Harrison is a cool guy who tells funny stories. He's very likeable. The only problem I had was I found the midterm and final were very hard. There's a lot of notes to study.

I used to think Charlie's lectures were too off-topic sometimes. Wrong! There is a method to his madness; I have retained more from his classes then others (inZane-ity). His methods are tried and true, you will actually learn something from him. Do the extra credit whenever possible and show up and you will have little problems. Charlie Rules!
This was an easy class. Just go to lecture and lab everyday and act like your trying and you will get an A.I was 30 pts from getting an A and he gave it to me without taking the last practicum or final. Easy teacher. Just show up and act like you are trying and you will receive a high grade.
This site gives an impression that it is an wasy A. You have to remember that an A is earned. It seems easy because of his teaching methods and the study habits you as a person has. Good Luck to all.
After speaking to some students who has completed his class admitted that he gave them an A when they should have had a low B/C.But when they got to physiology, they had to work harder or they failed.Little he knows that students who he GIVE grades to go to Golden West College to complete physiology because the professor there gives grades away to.
Charlie is the best anatomy teacher at any school let alone, Saddleback. Anatomy is a hard class, it is supposed to be, but he simplifies it and makes it as easy as possible. Charlie is helpful and acts as if he remembers the challanges of being a student.
Great teacher! Anatomy is hard and takes a lot of studying, but he is clear. He explains what's on the test. Just go to class and study a lot and you will be fine. He's got some funny stories too. He was recommended to me by a fellow biology teacher at saddleback. His class is heavily impacted so get it early.
i took this same course at IVC last semester but the bio 11 course here is 110 times better. charlie cuts out a lot of superfluous information that other anatomy teachers would include and he is much clearer in his lectures and what is expected of you on tests. if you study hard and pay attention you have a good chance of getting a good grade.
I am a nursing major,so I had to take this class.Does try and make things very clear, but this class takes alot of memorization. He does'nt have alot of patience,so don't take anything he says personally.4 lab tests and 4 lecture tests. Make sure to go to every class, take good notes & u will do fine. He has a rough side but its part of his character.
This class is a good alternative to taking a hard science/biology class. Plus, Hort 20 counts as a science with a lab. Charlie tells you upfront what is required of you for the class, so your grade is really what you put into it. Overall, the class wasn't hard, and Charlie tells a lot of funny stories. Take this class if you're not a Biology major.
CHARLIE is yhe mann.. he is very helpful and his lectures are really good. He tells you exaclty what you need to know. it is a tough class and you can BURN out but even then if you ask for help or if your uncertian of things he will help you.Jus make sure that your cell phone is always silent in his class (which i totally understand).. he's GREATTT
The fact that he wants you to call him by hid first name says a lot about him and his teaching method. He is extremely helpful and down to earth. He makes human anatomy sound easy (when its really not!) This was my second attempt at thie class and he is like no other teacher, thank you Charlie!
Charlie knows his anatomy and his students. He wants the class to do well. Summer sem. was scaled back a little on required material. Study regulary, go to class, and pay attention. Internet lecture notes help out in preparation of content. Light textbook reading of a tough book. Very fair and straight-forward. DON'T LET YOUR PHONE RING IN CLASS!!!
i wanted to come to class every day, i found a new love for biology. he is easy to talk to and tells funny stories. charlie i wish you tought all my biology classes thank you
He is an amazing teacher..He is very nice and he makes anatomy very interesting to learn. The class requires a lot of studing, so be prepare to study.
Charlie is a great teacher. Make sure you go to class regularly, and study. He writes everything on the board you need to know for lecture tests. Class itself is not easy, but Charlie makes it easier on you. .
Charlie may come off to be a strict, mean guy, but in the end, all he wants is for everyone to do well. Anatomy is a hard class, and Charlie tries his best to make is very clear for everyone. Offers extra credit and gives great lectures!
Charlie is a very opinionated teacher. If you are eaisly offended, I woulnd't recomend this class. Very informitive, and interesting at times, lab is fun and creative.
Has a terrible personality, but is a good teacher. Very fair with grades and offers plenty of extra credit.
***AN HONEST REVIEW*** Charley is a must take. He demands the Best from you, but will do his best to make sure you give him your best. He tells u exactly what is on each test. test are straight foward. and he gives lots of extra credit.(about 10 pt.s/test) he doesn't give "filler" material that some prof.'s give, only what's important to the tests
Great teacher and very helpful. He wants his students to succed. He knows the material pretty well. He doesn't need a power point or a binder to present his lecture. He knows evertything by heart. He writes the lecture material on the board. Whatever he says, don't take it personally. He has a golden heart.
Harrison is a really great guy. He comes across as somewhat a hardass, but he's the best damn teacher i've ever had. he makes you LEARN the material. it's not in one ear & out the other, the way he teaches it, you will remmeber it for life. that's what matters. Harrison's class was the class I have learned the most form EVER in a college course.
dont take him. he is rude and difficult to take. he expects you to remember everything. i heard he is good for anatomy, but seriously, not this class
Charlie is the best teacher at Saddleback. He is fair, interesting, and funny. Take good notes, because everything in your notes will be on his tests. He really does care about his students and wants to see everybody do well. I highly recommend him!!
Awesome teacher. You will really learn a lot. I wish he taught more classes, because I would take the all. Do not miss this guy. You will only have a few teachers that make you want to go to class. He is one of the few.
Relatively easy class, but it's not helpfull for Phyisio.
Great teacher. Takes the time to help with test anxiety. Very tough class but Charlie makes it doable. Don't take anything he says personally. He is all business in this class. A serious student will do well. Take him before he retires!
Best science teacher I have ever had. Seems strict, but wants you to do well. Good at explaining things.
He is so HOT~ Very fair guy his bark is bigger than his BITE. Good luck and Enjoy!
WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR TO ANYONE - VERY HELPFUL AND WANTS YOU TO DO YOUR BEST. ENCOURAGES YOU, BUT DOESN'T LET YOU JUST SLID THROUGH THE CLASS - YOU HAVE TO WORK FOR YOUR GRADE . . . HE'S NOT GOING TO JUST GIVE IT TO YOU. FAIR TEACHER AND EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE. HIS STORIES ALWAYS MAKE THE CLASS MORE INTERESTING.
He is the smartest professor I have ever had, but is not cocky and would never tell you how smart he really is. He is very helpful and knows every thing about HORT. The tests are easy if you pay attention and study his notes that are online. The class was taught half by him and the other by yarnall he is nice and cool but Charlie is a better pro
Easy! Lectures are short, and he doesn't take attendance. Labs are also short, and often dont happen. Pay attention to due dates, he seems to switch them. Mid term final sooo easy.
I liked my first class, Hort 20, with him so much that I continued with the Horticulture program and am now working in the industry. Very clear, very fair, and very interested in success for his students.
If you can take this class. Super easy and super fun. Labs are never the full 3 hours its more like 45/50 mins. Lectures are intresting he knows what he is talking about. No homewrok. Midterm and Final not hard if you went to class about 3/4 the time you will have no problem. Only takes attendance in lab. Funny guy. I LOVED this class. No need to buy the book.
One of the easiest class I have taken at Saddleback. It is hard not to get an A even if you don't study hard. His lectures are short and interesting. Beyond all Charlie is fun and you don't need to buy any textbook.
Charlie is the best. Class is FUN and keeps you entertained. Study notes and mid-term and final should be a breeze. Best class I have taken at Saddleback
Charlie is amazing! He comes off as being crude at first, but as you get to know him you will appreciate his humor and style of teaching! He explains everything by hand and not on an overhead.
Tape his lectures or take really good lecture notes. DON'T BE LAZY! If you suck it up and stay each lab time to learn all the material, you'll be set for the practicums and get extra credit attendance points! The lecture tests are all from lecture, so your lecture notes/tape will be your key to getting an A. To secure your A for the lec tests, lo
Charlie is an awesome professor who truely cares about his students. He is very approachable, patient and will explain the material until the student understands it fully. He teaches the material very well. Highly recommended!
Charlie is an awesome teacher. He is very helpful. He wants you to succeed and will tell you exactly how. Lecture tests are directly from his notes. He tells you what you need to know. Very fun class and you learn a lot.
He really wants you to do well and is there when you need help. He class is entertaining. Take very good lecture notes because that is where the tests come from. He will tell you EXACTLY what he expects from you on the test. Keep up with the reading and you will do well.
amazing teacher!!!!! do not take bio at IVC. the saddleback bio is so much better, and with harrison it is very enjoyable!anatomy isnt easy, but he breaks it down and makes it easier to understand. tells great stories, very funny
Charlie is a great teacher. Can come across as abrupt, and doesn't like repeating himself. Take good notes, do suggested reading, and show up. Flash cards are a must if you want an A.
He doesnt really care about attendance as long as you come to labs. No homework just a few fieldtrips to botanical gardens. He likes to ramble on about random stories from his childhood that sometimes last about 30 minutes. But charlie is a cool guy. If you want an EASY & fun class that you will learn in then TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! dont pass it up...
Very clear, and very concise. Charlie makes the information easy to understand and retain.
I didn't have much interest in this class other than to fulfill my requirements. I'm glad I took it. He's very clear and fair. All his lectures are posted online. Attend the labs and it's a fun easy A.
You definitely missed out if you did not get to take his class, as this was his last semester teaching horticulture. He loves telling personaly stories from his life, which made the class more interesting. He is a very nice man and i learned a lot from taking his class.
He really wants you to do well and is there when you need help. He class is entertaining. Take very good lecture notes because that is where the tests come from. He will tell you EXACTLY what he expects from you on the test. Keep up with the reading and you will do well. 5/18/07 bio11 3 5 5 5 Charlie is an awesome teacher. He is very helpful.
YOU MUST STUDY A LOT!He will tell you EXACTLY what he expects from you on the test.Keep up with reading and you will do well.Charlie is an awesome teacher. He is exstremely helpful. He will show cat dissection and explane step by step.Don't take different class! He is the best!I will miss him very much!Chearle, thank you for everythings! #27.
Rude, self-absorbed, burnt out and obviously didn't want to be there. Does lighten when the subject of computer games comes up. Goes over the cat muscles once so pay attention the first time. Study a lot cuz you're on your own in Charlie's class.
charlie is an awesome teacher! he helps you out if u have any questions he goes over things multiple times. he wants his class to do well and ya if you don't study ofcourse its hard just dont let it all pile up for the last night to study. take himm he is great!
Anatomy is a hard course to get an A but he gives you all the tools to be successful. He will let you know what he expects in his exams. Don't miss his lectures and write down even the smallest details from his lectures.Taking pictures of the cat disection helps.
Charlie is gruff, but absolutely hilarious. He is a great teacher and expects all of his students to get A's, and he really provides you with all of the tools to succeed. The class is hard simply because of all the memorization, but Charlie is one of those teachers that works hard for his students.
just fantastic
This is a difficult class. Charlie does not play around and is all biz, but you will learn everything. You have to study and ask questions. If you are a good student he WILL help you. He always stayed to the end of lab to answers all my questions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for serious students.
I took anatomy before taking it with Charlie and the teacher made the course seem impossible, but charlie made this class doable on top of working 30-40 hours a week and 3 other classes. He tells you exactly what he wants from you on every exam.Keep up with the studying because it will help so much when it comes down to the end.thanks charlie!! #9
Anatomy is a demanding class. The teacher can guide you, but ultimately you are responsible for your grade. Charlie is an old school teacher so he excels as a laboratory instructor. Wished he used PowerPoint on his lecture though. Drawing can be confusing. Overall, I'm happy to be in his class. I got an A!
Charlie is a great professor. His notes are crystal clear and he writes everything down in lecture. He is a master at simplifying information. He tells funny stories and is a real character. He cares for his students in a tough-love manner. Quality person and professor. I studied a ton and managed to get an A.
Charlie is wonderful! Once you get used to the gruff manner in which he conducts himself, you realize that he is brilliant and wants you to succeed. He has very good intuition about who studies and who doesn't, so make sure you study hard! his tests are straightforward and completely fro the notes you take in class. Take him! You won't be sorry!!!!
If you're considering taking anatomy with Charlie, I say grab a seat while you can. Charlie is a GREAT professor. I got an "A" on all of my EXAMS simply because I studied exactly what Charlie would lecture. 100% of his lecture notes will be on his lecture exams! & as for lab, basically study EVERYTHING on your list and you'll do well. TRUST ME!
Charlie is NOT approachable. In fact he is downright rude sometimes. But he begrudgingly will answer questions. DO NOT let your cell phone go off. You Will be thrown out of class. He's clearly burned out . But he is clear on what he wants you to learn. His lectures are clear. His syllabus is spot on. What more could you ask for?
The most empathetic, compassionate Professor on Campus. He will teach you everything you need to know in Human Anatomy, but you have to ask the right questions. You have to be on time for the labs and lectures, study hard and you will succeed. The best Professor for Human Antomy.Thank you Charlie.
Charly is a awesome teacher and a good person. He knows his stuff and you will learn a lot. I took this course over the summer this year and it was tough , but doable. You have to study! But he is clear on everything. Overall I LOVED Charley ad I would def. get seat in his class if you can. Great guy! and funny. tip: turn off your cell phones!
Charlie is a great professor. He really wants you to learn the material, unlike some professors who just want to trick you on tests. He is a good lecturer too - he makes it easy to understand and visualize what you're learning. I got an easy A, definitely recommend his class!
This class is not easy people! you have to learn and study everything that Charlie said! Charlie is very cool teacher, he will explain all the stuff you have to know on his tests and labs. take Charlie for bio! you won't regret it!
Charlie is a very helpful teacher! Everything he says is on the exams, no tricks, no surprises. Just don't piss him off! If you get anything other than A or B then your either lazy or your memory sucks. He is always willing to help if you are serious and are willing to listen to him! I am an average student and Charlie helped me get an A!
Best. Teacher. Ever.
This teacher is amazing!! i took him for anatomy and he gives you so many chances to get a good grade that its kind of not possible not to get a good grade! he teaches really good and likes to teach and wants you to really learn!! i recommend him 100% . you do have to study but as long as you put time there is no reason why you shouldn't get an A..
Charlie is professional, funny, and VERY CLEAR in his expectations. There are no surprizes in this class and NO REASON why you shouldn't get an A if you study and attend all labs and classes. He made human anatomy enjoyable. If every professor I have from here on out is just like Charlie, I'll be a lucky dog.
I took the summer class(fast paced). Best class I've had at any college and best teacher in the subject...PERIOD. Charie is fun, knows this subject and makes it easy to learn.
Charlie is... different. He explains things clearly and, in speaking to other anatomy students, he seems to be the best of the bunch. He is not out to trick you on tests, they are as straightforward as Charlie is. It IS a challenging class (I got a B, I normally get As). Only con is he tells some crazy unrelated stories, but I would recommend him.
Great teacher. Straight forward with everything you need to know. This is not an easy class, but Charlie actually wants his students to do well, so he does everything he can to help if you need it.
If you have to take anatomy at Saddleback, take it with Charlie. It is a tough subject, but he wants you to do well and is very clear about what is expected. He tells crazy stories and is very blunt, so don't be sensitive. Take this class with him, he is way better than most of the other teachers :)
I took this as a summer course. Expect to put in work and memorize memorize memorize. Charlie is a fantastic teacher and knows what he's talking about. Your effort will reflect your grade. Go in with optimism, and a genuine interest, and you'll crawl out with an A like I did. Charlie keeps the class interesting and really wants everyone to succeed.
Charlie is a good/fun professor. His lectures are clear and concise- know what he writes on the board for exams (however, they may not be loaded in detail which may help you later on down the line). Lec exams all MC, practicums mostly written, 5pts EC on every exam. For an A you must work hard, memorize, and go to all lectures (I got a 100%)
Anatomy is a HARD subject, but Charlie makes it easier to understand with his interesting examples and drawings. If you put in the effort to study and memorize everything, you'll do fine. He offers some extra credit if you complete all your chapter outlines on time and takes the time to explain again if someone doesn't understand something.
Literally the easiest classes I've ever taken. Charlie is the man and his tests are super easy. A lot of opportunities for extra credit. No reason why everybody shouldn't get an A. Summer class is the time to take it. If you take this class with anyone else be prepared to possibly not get an A.
Currently the last week of class and I have an A in the class. One more test to go. Great guy, clear lectures, clear grading scale, extra credit (up to 20 points). To get an a, 720800 points. Each test is 100 pts. All lecture notes are written on board (multiple), practicals consist of 2 written, 1 writtenmultiple, 1 full multiple. Take him!!!!!!
Dude, I love this guy. No joke. Consider yourself lucky if you can get this cool dude. I just finished off the semester with an A. Wish he taught physio. Good luck to all you future anatomy students!
If you're lucky to get in, take Professor Harrison's Bio11. He knows the course better than any of them. He teaches exactly what you need, no fluff, gives lots of extra credit, jokes making each lecture interesting. He makes students feel relaxed to ask anything; I was never afraid to ask stupid questions. Best Anatomy teacher on the planet ever!
I loved this class! I took it over the summer and it was a really nice experience. A lot of info is packed into 8 weeks, but if you put in the work, you'll do great. His lectures are short and he makes it easy to listen to. I love his stories and find him to be a really interesting person as well as a great teacher. Totally reasonable and helpful.
Anatomy is a hard course. You think it would be just memorizing body parts but that is not the case. They test you on intro physiology and they give you a TON of information to have to study. Charlie was a very nice guy, but his lectures were difficult to follow. He went off on tantrums often. Study hard and ask questions.
Charlie (he makes us call him that) is one of the BEST professors I have ever had. Anatomy is a tough class but he makes it possible. He expects everyone in the class to achieve an A. He sets the bar high but he gives you absolutely everything you need in order to do well. Respect him, give him your attention and ask for help sooner than later.
Best and Greatest Anatomy Instructor Ever !!!!!!
One of the best teachers I've ever had (Saddleback, IVC, UCLA, UCI). He's concise, to the point, and very fair on his exams. Lots of time and effort needs to be put into this course--lots of material! But you learn a lot. He explains concepts in layman's terms and gives examples to help you understand. Just remember to turn off your phone.
He's straight to the point, no nonsense kind of guy. Follow his instructions and you'll do fine. He makes Anatomy easier to learn and absorb. He's a fantastic instructor, all you have to do is take good notes from the board and study earlier because of all theinformation. Lecture tests are harder than the practical! Would love to take him again.
"Anatomy is a hard subject. I don't see the need to make it any harder" -Charlie Charlie is an awesome professor. He's retired, however, he teaches this class to keep himself busy. Anatomy is a hard subject but Charlie really gives students every opportunity to succeeded. His lecture tests are hard; lecture test 3 was a real slap in the face.
This class is very difficult and there is a lot of information, but Charlie does everything in his power to help you succeed. You'll need to put in the time and study anywhere between 15-18 hrs/week, there's no way around it. Lecture tests are harder than practicals. Take advantage of extra credit opportunities!
Charlie is a great teacher, it's really just based on whether you take the time to study but there is lots of studying required! He gives you the information you need to know, and he goes over models for the practicum, sometimes more than once. If you ever need help or have a question he's always there to help. Sense of humor. I recommend!
Charlie is the best. He makes anatomy very straightforward. This class isn't easy, but if you attend class, make use of extra lab time and study everything he writes on the board, you will do well. He's also hilarious and keeps you entertained with his story telling. Highly recommend taking Charlie's class if you can!
An absolute gem! Charlie offers his students every opportunity to do well in. His lectures are clear, filled with helpful examples and are always hilarious ("without the stomach there would be no Parthenon!") I've walked away feeling that I didn't just manage to earn a good grade, but also with a solid foundation. Take him if at all possible!!
Oh Charlie... overall he's probably the best anatomy teacher in terms of getting a good grade because he offers so many opportunities to do well in the class. He often goes on tangents about unnecessary things and talks pretty slow which make lectures a drag sometimes but as long as you study and do the extra credit you will do just fine !
I think he makes class entertaining with his stories. To get an A all you have to do is take time to study. He instructs you on exactly what you need to study on. He doesn't try to trick you. So many opportunities to get extra credit in his class. Show up to class everyday. Definitely recommend him.
Took this class during summer. He's kind of an odd ball, but a great teacher! Simplifies the material as best he can. Only hw is chapter outlines & they don't have specific due dates, just due before the Lec exam. Does not curve tests, drop lowest grade, or offer extra credit. I feel confident in my knowledge of Anat & feel prepared for Physio.
Charlie is the most amazing professor I have ever taken. He tells the funniest stories before class sometimes. His lectures are clear and straight forward. Make sure you know everything he writes on the board. Don't take anyone else for anatomy!!! He gives extra credit and makes it possible to get an A+. I learned so much in his class. Great prof!!
Charlie is a AWESOME professor, would highly recommend him for anyone needing anatomy. There are 4 practical and lecture exams they are not easy but he goes over exactly what will be on them. If you take the time to study and remember all the terms, you will do great. He also offers extra credit opportunities on almost all the exams.
Charlie is so awesome!!! I'm super glad I was able to take him bc his classes usually fill up fast. He teaches the material clearly and is always willing to further explain whatever you're lost on. Anatomy isn't an easy subject (lots of memorizing) but he makes it interesting and fun. Do the work, study the notes, pay attention, and you'll do well.
Dissection of cat, sheep brain, heart, & eye. Use bone box in library to study for bone practicum. Rake in all extra credit you can. 5pts can move your grade- imagine what 20 can do. Tests are 90% from the notes you take in class, rest are from the chapter reading. He is helpful & hilarious. Would take him again in a heartbeat! Best class at SBC.
Charlie is a genius! Politically incorrect, funny stories, and lectures that cut right to the chase. Anatomy is already tough and Charlie made sure that it wouldn't become tougher as most professors make it out to be. Really positive energy in the class and most classmates seemed to enjoy attending the class. God bless this man!
was skeptical while reading reviews. LISTEN UP- U NEED TO TAKE HIM. easiest for anatomy- u need to be good at memorizing and practicing and NOT PROCRASTINATING. he tells funny stories during lecture and is old & a bit slow but def my fav prof. tests are written at first then progress into multiple choice. muscle exam is hardest then gets easy.
Bittersweet moment this class is over. I learned so much and enjoyed it all!Charlie is a sweet man with fun jokes and stories that make the class memorable. EC is widely avail. Grade based soley on tests. Lectures are to the point and practicals are purely memorization. No surprises on tests. Study and stay organized. It's an easy A
Charlie was a great teacher. He gives you all you need to pass the class. If you can get through the first two tests and practicums you're set. In the beginning there is a lot of memorizing, but it turns into conceptual learning later on. Just remember Charlie's lecture notes for the tests. I would 100% recommend Charlie to anyone taking anatomy.
Charlies crazy y'all. He has been at this school for so long and has so many great stories. He makes all of his lecture tests based off of his lectures for the most part just make sure you ask him exactly what's on the test. class is based on test solely so you can't fight him on your grade. Study hard to get the grade you want and study everyday!
Charlie is absolutely amazing. A summer anatomy class isn't easy and you definitely have to be willing to put in hours a day studying. However, Charlie makes this class enjoyable. His stories from all his years of teaching here are hilarious. He gives you everything you absolutely need to do well. I wish he taught other classes!
I took Bio 11 with Charlie during summer and got an A. I don't recommend taking this class in the summer unless you have several hours a day to study. Charlie wants everyone to get an A and gives you the tools necessary to do so. So as long as you study and show up to class you will do fine. Ask questions! He wants to help!!
Love him, friendly guy who will do everything in his power to help you recieve an A in his class. You can miss class sometimes if people have taken videos of the lab portion of the class. You need to study, if you need this class for credit then you want Charlie as your teacher.
Best bio11 professor! I took this class online and it was sooo easy. He tries his best and offers lots of extra credit on exams. Grades mainly based on lecture exams and lab practicums. Majority of the class passed with an A!
Charlie really cares for his students and wants them to succeed. Your grades rely heavy on the lecture tests and practicums but his assessments are really fair and no trick questions. His practice quizzes really help to gauge where you stand on the lesson, as well as the study guides and lecture slides/pdfs he gives to help you study.
Charlie was one of the best professors I have ever had! He is very caring and understanding and wants to make sure you pass his class!!
You need to take Charlie for your Anatomy class ! Nicest professor and his class is really enjoyable, he tells so many funny stories! Took the summer course and it wasn't hard at all. He makes sure you are prepared for all tests and he reviews all slides and pictures prior, Your points mainly come for testing so you need to make sure you do well !
Very straightforward class. 8 exams total & thats literally all youre graded on. xtra credit on lab exams if you show up to zooms. gives ungraded practice quizzes w/ ?s that are the similar as on the real tests. Study every doc/practice quiz he gives u & youre set. i didnt listen during zoom lectures, just studied the material & got As on all tests
Charlie is the best professor at Saddleback for me by far. He is SUPER patient with all the dumb questions that get asked or questions he's answered many times prior. His class isn't easy by any means as you need to study for his exams. However, he makes studying a bit easier by providing all the tools you need to do well. HIGHLY recommend!
TERRIBLE PROFESSOR! MEAN! HARD AND HATES WHEN YOU ASK QUESTIONS! DO NOT TAKE! GRADE BASED ON TESTS ONLY 0/10
Charlie was an OUTSTANDING professor. He made anatomy super fun and I learned so much! I took him over the summer and it was rough having class every day and studying all the time, however, he cares for all his students and wants everyone to succeed!! He truly is GEM!! I wish he taught more classes at Saddleback!
Charlie is exceptional. Easy to get ahold of by email, day and night. Lectures are full of references and stories that make them and key concepts easier and memorable. Curates a website with invaluable resources. He prepares you well for exams, cultivates an atmosphere where student effort directly translates to success. -Patrick
Charlie's the best Professor I've ever met. Wish every professor was like him! He can be blunt, but he means well or he's joking. 800 points total with extra credits from attendance. Just study what he tells you and get an A. Charlie is caring and sees his students in the classroom like a family. Missed being in his class already. -Kelvin
I just had Charlie for the Fall 2022 semester and he was a great professor. Anatomy overall is not an easy subject but him showing us the material was very simplified and easy to read. If you take the time to study and put in effort, you will do well. There are 8 tests in total that count as your grade. Be prepared!
Charlie is amazing. One of the nicest professors I've ever had, and I learned so much in his class. He gives LOTS of extra credit, so getting an A in his class is very doable. He grades and responds to emails very quickly and has excellent communication. He wants you to succeed, and he does a very good job of providing support to his students.
Charlie is great! He is very straightforward and clear on how you can receive an A in the class. Most of your grade is made up of test scores, and he also offers plenty of extra credit. It's almost impossible to fail his class as long as you study for every exam and complete the extra credit. Would take a class of his again in a heartbeat!
CHARLIE IS AN AMAZING TEACHER WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO TAKE HIM FOR HUMAN ANATOMY. DOES A GREAT JOB WITH LECTURES AND IS VERY CLEAR ON WHAT IS NEEDED FOR EXAMS. CHARLIE IS A VERY CARING PERSON WILL RESPOND TO EMAILS QUICK. WILL LEAD HIS STUDENTS FOR SUCCESS.
Charlie makes anatomy engaging with his clear explanations and plentiful extra credit. Though the exams are challenging, using resources like unstuck study alongside the textbook can help you succeed. Overall, a rewarding class with a professor committed to student learning.
I will not lie to you it is a little difficult, but as long as you put in the work you will for sure get an A in the class. I recommend making study groups for the whole class YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!! Also please put in the work for this class, stay longer after class to study for exams if you need to don't procrastinate. Best anatomy professor.
Charlie is super passionate about anatomy - is very clear on what is expected from us regarding tests. Always happy to help when someone needs it. Found it fun during his classes, and was a great professor overall. Took his 8 week summer course and was very happy with him as my teacher.
I took him for the 8-week summer course. It wasn't easy, but Charlie helped make it manageable. The only grade is 4 lab exams, 3 lecture exams, and a final. But he gives 7 points of extra credit on lab tests for attendance. I thought he rushed through lectures a little and got a little annoyed sometimes. Overall, would recommend!
