This professor is soooooooo easy and I think everyone should take him for Com 202! He teaches other Com classes but I haven't taken him, but I definitely reccommend him!

he is the best professor i have had in my two years at ou the class is straight forward and if you do all your work you should be able to get above a 3.5. i got a 3.7 the class is out of 400 points so that means i only missed 30 points the whole class.

One of the best profs at OU. He makes the class interesting and fun. The class became very close as the semester went on. Take this prof!!

I was really interested in public speaking and getting better but I didn't learn anything in this class. He assigns a lot of speeches and doesn't spend enough time teaching the new speech purpose. Strict attendance and late policy, your grade will be effected and he won't like you as much if you're tardy or absent.

Like everyone else said bottom line hes the man!easy class if u participate and do the fairly easy work. very fun class and i looked foward to going to class and enjoyed it.teaching style=awesome doesnt teach straight out of the textbook so ur not bored, interesting way of teaching and actually does cover the textbook material wo u really noticing

He is by far one of the best teachers/professors i have ever had. I looked forward to his class EVERY day. i wish i had it EVERY day. he made his class tons of fun and taught you the material in fun ways where you barely realized you were even learning it. Like everyone else said, he's the man! take his class!

I was a freshman when I took his class, and had no idea what to expect. But am I so HAPPY I took it. This man and his class was the deciding factor for me on becoming a communications major. TAKE HIS CLASS. I CAN NOT STRESS IT ENOUGH. its an awesome experience.

He is awesome! Though there were a LOT of speeches and presentations through the semester, I actually looked forward to his class, it was very interesting, super entertaining, and informative. All those speeches pay off, our entire class upped the quality level of their public speaking!

Charlie is a really enthusiastic professor that loves what he does! He will always help if you ask and he has good comments on speeches. If you are going to take public speaking or any COM class, take it with Charlie Rinehart!

By far the best class I have ever taken in college. You actually get to know your peers. Journals once a week and 4 group projects, and one test. He makes me want to change my major to Comm.

Charlie was an amazing prof. He makes sure you get to know and befriend your peers so it's not another one of those awkward speech classes. Classes are either speech days, lectures, or activities. Dont waste your money on the book just take good notes on the lectures, final is based off the notes. I would highly recommend Charlie!

Charlie is amazing! his class is group focused and you get to know and become friends with everyone in the class. you learn alot about yourselves and your peers in this class. you mainly just have to do journals and group projects and watch a couple movies but this class is legit. I didnt use the book at all though but TAKE THIS CLASS WITH CHARLIE!

Charlie is amazing. If you're in the Com department or not, take him. You earn your grade and he helps you along the way. Not to bad to look at either.

Very fun and interesting course. He makes it so that you MUST participate in class, which is a good thing because you form bonds with everyone. I would recommend this professor to anyone and everyone! Going to miss this class!

Attendance is mandatory, but you will want to after going to just a couple of classes. As long as you take the criticisms he gives on your speeches seriously, you will continue to improve. I have taken Charlie twice for COM classes and I wish that he taught more because there honestly is no better professor at OU.

Bad idea, he has a method but it just gets buried underneath a high school classroom atmosphere. I guess you can't really cement anything about it, just kind of forgettable. Only really take it if you need to.

It's a high school atmosphere, and almost too lenient to be honest. It's perfect for an early class elective, excellent professor and gives very detailed responses on what you should improve on.

Prof. Rinehart always has an upbeat attitude, and grades fair. You have to work for your grade, but he makes the class enjoyable.

I took WHP 360 with Professor Rinehart and he is honestly the best! The class is ALL reliant on speaking in front of the class. 2 individual speeches, 2 impromptu, and 2 group presentations. He connects the class with eachother, so by your first speech you realize everyone feels the same way you do. HIGHLY recommended professor. He is the best.

Charlie is the best professor I've had thus far. I was terrified of Public Speaking but his methods made the class more enjoyable & me more comfortable. YOU pick what you want to speak about following HIS guidelines. There's a name quiz and then the final. TAKE HIM. MY FINAL IS TO EAT BREAKFAST WITH THE CLASS AT A RESTAURANT. TAKE HIM TAKE HIM!!!!!

A few lecture classes and the rest are group activates such as playing games!

Charlie is phenomenal for COM 201! A great guy that stresses getting to know everyone. Attendance is mandatory but I wanted to come to class each and every morning even with this being an 8 am class! If you are afraid or fearful of public speaking, take this course! By the end of it you will have no problem giving a speech!

Professor Rinehart is one of my favorites in the WHP program. He does expect participation for every class, which is useful to learn more about the topics and practice low pressure public speaking - which you will need for the class. I love his mannerisms!

a PHENOMENAL teacher. take the class and you will not be upset. an amazing teacher and an even better guy. i hate waking up early but having him as my 8am got me excited to get up in the morning.

The class itself is not difficult. Four group presentations, multiple discussions, and a couple papers. You share a lot In the class so if you don't like that, then take someone else. He also stops going over group communication and turns to talking about stereotypes and racism. It isn't a diversity class so I didn't understand the sudden turn.

Incredible professor who is truly interested in the students learning and growing. A lot of the class is interacting with other students, and you most likely will leave his class with a few new friends. You're going to have to put some work into presentations and meet with your group outside of class if you want a good grade.

Charlie is a great guy! He is a great speaker and can be a tough grader. He expects the best from you every time you speak. You always notice improvement once you are done with him though! Also, the final exam is breakfast!!

Incredible, incredible professor. Made me enjoy public speaking, and was able to break the entire class out of their shell. High expectations for his class though, so be prepared to put in the work for this class. However, Charlie doesn't even make it feel like work. 1010 would recommend.

I absolutely hated speaking in public but this class made me feel comfortable and I really improved. Prof Rinehart is a great guy and makes the class fun! Two group projects that require a lot of time. Not a really tough grader. I would definitely take this class again in a heart beat.

Charlie is very approachable. He genuinely wants his students to take away as much as possible from the class and become better speakers and better at working within groups. Expect to be a part of the class and speak pretty much every class, especially when you go over journals.

This class was a very interesting communications class, unfortunately he grades incredibly rough. It is very hard to receive a 4.0, if you want to take a communications class as an easy 4.0 don't take it with this professor, but if you want to learn how to be a better communicator, then definitely take this class, Hes really good, just grades tough

This professor expects a lot from his students but, you will come out a stronger speaker and a better presenter. In the Winter semester I took both WHP 380 and 360. I would highly recommend taking these classes, it will improve your communication abilities for the future work world and can be applied to the here and now.

Charlie doesn't lecture, he talks about life and how important it is to leave your mark on the world. I've learned so much and feel so lucky to have been in his class. LOVE this class! Two tests, group projects but the entire class is great. He turns a classroom of strangers into a group of friends. Do yourself a favor, TAKE HIS CLASS!

Charlie is possibly the best professor I've ever had. However, this class is different. There aren't tests (one low point final) and very few homework assignments. It's all speaches. And he's picky!! He grades you on progress so he's not a tough grader. But he expects you to consciously think about his feedback during presenotations

Charlie is the best teacher I have ever had. Very personable and makes EVERYTHING more fun. For once in my school career i didn't dread going to class. He has high expectations for his students, so it is hard to get a 4.0 but it is not hard to get a good grade. Not an excessive amount of work at all. TAKE HIS CLASSES. You won't regret it.

Great class!Really pushed me out of my comfort zone with public speaking. You become best friends with the whole class by all the activities, so all become super comfortable with public speaking (supportive environment). He expects you to use his feedback and use it in all speeches , he wants to see progress. Try and you'll do great! FExam is food!

Charlie is a great person and professor. He genuinely cares for his students and sets you up to do well in his class and in life. He is heavy on getting to know people and networking. You really learn a lot everyone in the class and get to know them on a personal level. In his class you become comfortable to speak in front of others.

He also makes the classroom feel comfortable, he wants students to get to know each other. There is group activities. If you want to be more comfortable in front of people, take this class!

The class is really fun. Your grade is basically what you put into the class. Each person is graded individually on their speeches so your basically graded on your improvement. He does offer extra credit. You have to try to get a good great in the class, but it is a very great experience. Definitely recommend.

I didn't really like public speaking at first, but now I'm much more confident in doing it. I think you'll enjoy public speaking a little bit more after taking this class. You get to know everyone in your class, which makes it easier to speak in front of them, and you enjoy the class more. Charlie is probably one of the best teachers on campus.

Charlie is an amazing professor! He made public speaking fun even though I do not like to do it. He is the reason I enjoyed my first year at Oakland University. His lectures are inspiring and he made 8 am public speaking an enjoyable class. Take this class!! It will teach you so much for your future career:) I recommend for everyone.

Charlie wants all of his students to succeed and really pushes you out of your comfort zone. Yes, you have to work for your grade and put the time and effort in, but it's worth it. Whenever I have to present at my internship I think about his techniques. I already plan to take him again next year.

A really cool professor! I really liked him! He makes the class a friendly environment to be in, and Ill definitely miss the class because of him! However, expect to be judge on your work! Hes a tough grader, but he means well! Guarantee you that you will like him!

One of the best professors that I have had at Oakland University. Professor Rinehart is so passionate that he keeps you engaged the whole entire class. The Ethnography Assignment helped me discover things about myself that I didn't even know! Take Professor Rinehart. You won't regret it!

Easily one of the greatest professors I've had the pleasure of having. I'm not sure if it's just because he was so enthusiastic everyday he walked in or because he took a real interest in each of his students, either way, he's a real 1 in 1,000,000. BTW, he rounded my final grade up from a B- to a B. Good dude Take all his classes, all of 'em.

Take him!! Very knowledgable and motivated teacher. He cares about his student's success and is very engaging. Giving speeches is not always easy, but Charlie gives great support and feedback and grades each individual on their own growth throughout the semester. Very clear class that required some outside work, but was worth it and paid off!

Took Charlie because it was required for my major. He is a tough grader but he cares about his students and has a very open demeanor. I wrote a few bad papers with horrible grammar but he still gave my credit for the overall idea. Would take him again if I was a Com student.

Great professor, he is knowledgable and really cares about his students. The atmosphere is more like a "family" atmosphere. I really got to know him and every single one of my class mates. This class reminded me a lot of my social work classes for my undergrad. Loved the class. Lots of group projects and a journal every week but he makes It fun!!

Really good prof!! He makes everyone comfortable with each other which made our class so fun! If you're looking to 4.0 the class, you will not. He is a little bit of a tough grader. But overall, really good professor!!

Public speaking This will be a really fun class to take. It requires some effort though. If you just slap a speech together the night before youll get a B every time. You have to go above average to get an A. Nice guy! 100 recommend!

Professor Rinehart was amazing!!!!! I learned much more than the class provided just from his wisdom. Would 100% take again. Book was only used for one chapter for a group project so share the book with someone. 10/10 class

HE IS SO NICE!! Very easy to talk to! He grades a bit harsh, but he is fair with his grading.

Charlie is such a sweet, personable, understanding professor. He is very approachable and makes the class feel like family. Knowing your audience for public speaking is definitely a plus. He doesnt grade harsh, but he does have increasing standards throughout the semester. As long as you can make a solid outline youll be good.

Professor Rinehart is an excellent professor! I had to take him sadly through online because of the pandemic for my WHP3800 class. If you are taking this class be prepared for a lot of essays to come and final presentation. There are three exams throughout the semester but no finals. He's very strict about giving A's out, so you must work hard!

A lot of people say Charlie is a tough grader but I think hes fair. If you try on your speeches youll get a good grade. Public speaking was a very fun class. If youre looking for a class where you get to interact and meet your classmates this is definitely the one. Charlie is such a nice guy and very easy going. Definitely would take class again

Inclusive/Heartfelt/Realistic. Professor Rinehart is one of the best professors the communication department has to offer. I had Charlie for Public Speaking. Lectures are clear/interesting, 35-40% of our meetings are lecture-based, the remainder are for speech days. All you need to do is try/care/be honest. I cannot recommend this professor enough.

Charlie has been one of my favorite professors I've had to date. He is extremely passionate about what he does and cares immensely. The class is a very fair workload. He gives great feedback and is very consistent with his grading and makes you earn it, it is not a blowoff easy 100% by any means, but if you show up and try that's most of your grade

Professor Rinehart is easily to say one of the best professors ive ever had. You can tell he cares about his students and wants them to do a good job. He makes every lecture a fun time and really shows he wants everyone to succeed. I recommend taking him if you can it really makes the class enjoyable and makes you excited for class.

Professor Rinehart is a very caring teacher. He really cares about the subject he is teaching as well. Grading criteria is very clear as well as due dates. He really tries to push you to do better and participate in class. I would recommend him to anyone.

This professor is one of a kind. He is a great professor in the sense that he is enthusiastic when teaching the material. He cares about all students. He is very kind. The class is easy if you show up to every class and participate. Participation matters as it is factored into final grade! 10/10 would recommend this class ad professor again!

Overall GREAT professor! He truly cares about public speaking and can tell that he has a true passion for it. He gives great feedback after a speech and although sometimes it may be pretty rough, if you listen to what he has to say and use his advice, you will become a much better public speaker!

Sometimes the professor talks a lot, and it's not an easy class because it requires you to spend a lot of time preparing for performances (5 total + paper with each). It was difficult, however, it benefitted me and I found the class useful. Charlie is funny sometimes)

I wish I could take more of Charlie's classes. HE WAS AMAZING!! Changed my perspective on public speaking! He wants his students to do well and knows how to make class fun and interesting. He was always available outside of class and gave amazing feedback and constructive criticism on all of my speeches. Definitely the BEST professor at OU by far!

Great professor, would take again. In this class, there are 5 pre-selected presentation topics to do. Easy grader at first, but he'll get a little more tougher, just put effort into your presentations. Visual aids help!

Charlie is a great professor, but a huge stickler with attendance. If you're 1 min late, you're tardy. I got COVID and had to miss a week of class, my other professors waved these absences, Charlie did not. Make sure you sign up for a time when you wont be late or miss class. Regardless, he creates one of the best classroom environments on campus.

Charlie Rinehart was one of the best professors I've had at Oakland University. Even though I was only taking the class for credit, it quickly became my favorite class because he took interest in my class's interests (I'm a OPA major). His ability to listen and give constructive feedback is what makes him a staple in the Business School

It's LIKE a Public Speaking class, but REQUIRES some more effort, and NO visual aids. 5 different "performances" to deliver, the first three you perform outside material (you or he finds), the last two YOU write! Only one performance had to be memorized, while the others were through transcripts. After each performance, there's a reflection paper.

I want other students to know that Professor Rinehart does amazing lectures in his classes and he is very kind to everyone. In this class, we all sit in a circle around the classroom to really get to know each other and know the professor as well.

*CLASS IS NOW PH 2800* Amazing professor loves his jobs and his students. Attendance is required!! the lectures are long but he does his best at making them go by fast (typically releases early as well) amazing prof with a love for public health. lenient with late work as well as long as you communicate. 10/10 recommend for all PH and WHP majors
