will not round up for final grades. very unhelpful and seems to have an attitude towards students. does not care about outstanding circumstances and will lower your grade if you miss class no matter what. very hard grader and tests do not follow study guides. unnecessarily hard.

Terrible professor! Honestly she was the worst professor I have taken at this school. This is a 100 level class, but honestly, she writes her exams as though it is a 500 or 600 level class. She is very unfair, and does not treat her students with respect one bit. Is not willing to listen to the students and help out. Would not recommend at all!!

Galloway acted like she was going to be a nice teacher and then turned on us. She does not care about her students. Her tests are so hard. I studied for 2 weeks and knew everything on her readings, videos, powerpoints, and study guide and got a 55 on the exam. She asks her questions way harder than she needs to and grades tough. DO NOT TAKE HER

Just generally rude, picky, and unnecessarily tough. She's awful at responding to emails and when she does, she is very rude. Has an "anything is fair game" attitude towards tests, including the 15 articles she puts on blackboard without discussing in class. the test questions are idiotically specific. TERRIBLE.

Been in school for three years now and I must say she is the worst professor I have ever had in my three years. She is very rude and a very hard grader. This is a 100 level course but I feel like I am in a 400 level course. There are a lot of aticle readings assigned before each class but are never discussed in class. Horrible professor!!

She is really insensitive & grades unnecessarily hard. She acts like she's the best professor on campus but her reputation amongst the students is trash. Her class is SO long/boring and teaches on a question-answer type base so like the students that do attempt to answer, they either don't talk loud enough to hear them or she doesn't elaborate.

I looked her up on this and saw a 2.9 rating and I was like "these people are trippin. This is just an intro class. No way it can be hard." Fast forward to where I am now, lol. I should have listened. The only grades are test (short answer and essay) and a paper. That's it. You do bad on 1, your screwed. Save yourself, it's too late for me :(

Worst professor I've had in my 3 years at USC. This 100 level class is more like a 400 level. She's so boring during lectures, tests on material she barely discusses, and has a know it all attitude. She posts so many at-home readings to do and never discusses them but says they are "far game" on exams. She also takes FOREVER to grade things.

I dont like writing these because I feel too mean, but Dr. Galloway is the definition of cruel. She is harsh, strict, and doesnt care for her students. I hadnt met a professor i couldnt see the good in before this semester, but taking her has shown me how horrible professors can be. Take with someone else if you know what is good for you.

Test are worth 80% of grade... screw one up and you're playing some serious catch-up. Way too many readings. I felt tricked into taking this... the difficulty is NOT that of a 100-level course. Run.

If you know what's good for your GPA, don't take this class with Galloway. She takes the simplest concepts and tosses them out the window, digging into the weeds on her exams. You have a reading for basically every class, and they make up a good portion of the exam content in the form of essay questions. This should not be a 100-level course.

Take any other professor for this course. Galloway makes a very simple 100 level class and turns it into a nightmare. She grades the one paper so harshly and gives no reasoning as to why she took points off. If you do poorly on one test, you will be playing major catch up. Managed to get an A, but spent WAY too much time on this course

Take her if you're trying to lower you GPA. I was CSCI and switched to PUBH two years ago... her class is harder than any coding/tech classes I ever took. Acts like she's the best professor at USC, when she's really not. Acts like she provides a ton of extra credit, but it's always based off of 4-8 page readings and is really difficult to get.

When I got my first exam back I thought there was a grading error. Went to see her and found out there wasn't. Same for second exam. You think you answer stuff correctly, but she always finds some petty reason to take points off... like a question could have multiple answers, but she wants a specific "correct" one. Least reasonable teacher ever.

Honestly this class left me speechless. This woman is the worst professor at USC hands down and I have no idea why she became a teacher. Shes rude, cruel, and extremely unreasonable. Do not take this class with Galloway. Shes terrible. Awful. The worst.

Don't take her. Claims this class is different and Interactive, but in reality you have to memorize minor details. Be prepared to memorize 10 articles pet test. She grades hard, so if you don't put exactly what she wants, it's wrong. She is actually the worst teacher. I have a 4.0 and she will be my first B. 200 level class 500 level teacher.

If you are reading this because Professor Montgomery 's class is full and you have to take this class well GOOD LUCK! Her tests are ridiculously hard, do the readings and make sure you understand the main idea because on her tests she's VERY specific for the right answer.

Easily the worst professor I've had at USC. Galloway makes the class way too hard on purpose and prides herself on the fact that it's hard to get an A. Do NOT take her. I had to work my butt off for an A in this class while taking Anatomy and Orgo 2, and I devoted the same amount of time to this class as I did for Orgo to get an A. A Bad teacher.

Dr. Galloway is probably the worst professor Ive had. She does stress key topics for exams but also requires memorization of TINY details. Tons of reading material. Little extra credit. You also never receive feedback on grades, which are purely subjective. Grading scale is ridiculous - final is 40% alone. Exams are harder than orgo. Boring class.

Information learned in the class is simple, almost common sense but she makes the class so much harder than it should be. Lots of readings, grade determined by 3 exams and 1 assignment with few extra credit points. She is a really tough grader and looks for very specific things in your answers. Definitely take the other prof for 302 if you can!!!!!

Galloway is one of the worst professors I have ever had. I am usually a very good student but received a C in this class even after studying my butt off for the tests and going to almost every class. She is the most ridiculous grader and if you don't answer in exactly her words she counts off.

Okay so Galloway makes Intro to PubH wayyy harder than it needs to be. Its a 300 level intro class... she is very specific on how she wants answers worded and does not give partial credit. Attendence is not mandatory but she does give some extra credits from readings assigned outside of class.

Online material is easy until she over-complicates it in class. She is a very blunt person and makes the smartest people feel dumb in class. Grades too harshly. She will get angry at you for writing too much on exams and assignments. On God, she LOUDED PEOPLE OUT DURING AN EXAM for writing too much! Why put short-answer on exams if you'll complain?

She makes this class a lot harder than it needs to be. All the material for the tests is in her slides and the millions of articles/videos assigned. Talks about God knows what during class, not helpful. Unspecific in the project instructions, but grades extremely tough. Tests are short answer but don't you dare write to much or she will yell. It honestly feels like Dr. Galloway wants her students to fail. I have taken this class twice and done everything in my power to do well, but she grades so harshly. She gives awful feedback -- you ask her why you got a test question wrong, and she says it is because you left out one tiny detail. Unless you have a photographic memory, dont take her.

Even if you think you have studied everything, you have not and she will find a way to make the class average on every test a C. She wants people to fail or almost fail her class. Wants you to retain 5 articles, 2 one hour long documentaries and 5 lectures for every test with closed note tests. Her class is impossible and if you get the joy of having her, be proud of you barely pass. Most students fail. She loves to fail people it brings her joy. It's a wonder she hasn't been fired yet! Does not care about students at all. Would fail everyone if she could. Dr. Galloway assigns a horrendous amount of readings and documentaries that she asks subjective essay questions on. Tests grades are worthless because she won't let you see what you got wrong, or why you got the grade you got. Avoid this professor like the plague, it's unfathomable that she actually still has a job. Department should investigate.

If you have to take her online because of COVID, it will be the hardest thing you have ever done. She doesn't want you to pass. She is prideful that her class is so hard. There were even people taking this online class, who had previously failed her in-person class. Avoid her at all costs, even though you will probably get stuck with her anyway.

Had 4 TA's and did not hear from them once the whole semester, she takes FOREVER to grade exams, refuses to let you see your exams afterwards, gives way too many readings & is too specific on exams

Dr. Galloway is the worst professor I had. She assigns unrealistic workloads per module. If you want to pass this course you need a study group and divide the workload evenly. She assigns so much work but only tests on a few areas. She also doesn't let you see your exams ever so you can't see what you miss, doesn't even offer 1 on 1 time to go over

Exams are extremely difficult and she tests you on things you would never expect to be tested on. Like I mean you have to know absolutely everything inside and out or else you won't pass. Her class is so hard because it is SO conceptual that it is almost subjective to exactly what she wants to hear. Defiantly harder than any of my chem or bio classes, and every time I would talk to her she was very unhelpful and belittled me. You will need to read every day, take notes, make study guides, and watch the videos on multiple occasions. She sucks. You can pass this class though as long as you study almost every day.

Dr. Galloway makes this class much harder than it needs to be. This course was harder than any of my upper levels in the HPEB, PUBH & EPID depts and not through lack of hard work. As a student that had published 2 papers and given numerous presentations in this field before taking this class, I can say that she overcomplicates virtually everything.

She expects you to read 10+ articles per exam. She grades harshly! Ive never received a bad grade on an essay during college until I had her. She has a good personality during class and makes conversations with students but she definitely takes this intro class to serious.

This is my second time taking the class and honestly the grading of the tests are just hard not the material. Honestly not sure how you study for the tests because the tips for success hardly helps.

Well, my major problem is the amount of material (articles and videos, laws) that we are suppose to memorize and be able to answer explicit free response answers about them on the exam. The material is overwhelming and the grading is very strict.

If possible, take another professor. She has no interest in helping her students succeed in her course. She grades harshly and won't give any feedback. The one other assignment included in your grade, won't elaborate on the points you missed for it. Makes an intro class very difficult and puts so much stress on her students and does not care.

Avoid her at all costs. No partial credit on short answers makes an intro class incredibly hard, and an unfair grader. The best thing to do is to file complaints in hopes her grading policies change.

Avoid at all costs. She takes weeks to grade anything, and grades ridiculously harsh to the point where the majority of the class fails every exam and the one other assignment. The course material is not difficult, but the exams are impossible because she tests on extremely specific details of articles and 6+ hours of videos of outside material.

Do not take her class. There are people retaking this INTRO course for the second/third time and still failing the exams and project. She is set in her ways and will not adjust grading or give feedback other than that you are wrong. As a senior this is by far the worst class I've taken at this school. Dr. Galloway is really smart and knows her stuff but she just doesn't seem to be cut out for this. The exams and material she uses in class are from another professor in the department and her exams just don't add up. I am doing terribly in this class but have taken 500 and 400 level PUBH classes and gotten A's. It's a bad sign when everyone fails.

Dr. Galloway's class has been one of the most hardest classes I took. Her exams are extremely hard. She'll ask very specific questions about the 10+ articles/videos posted for EACH exam, and expect you to know it, open ended too btw. You can learn a lot from this class and still fail due to her unrealistic exam expectations. AVOID HER IF POSSIBLE!!

Be prepared to have to put this class over all other classes AND ITS AN INTRO CLASS. So many assigned readings and the material isnt even hard but the exams are so difficult and you barely have time to finish. Glad I scraped by so I dont have to take this class again if I were to fail it.

Prof. Galloway has very high expectations for an introductory class. the reading can add up to 14 pages of notes in addition to a 10 page study guide and that's just for her tests. The tests are hard to study for and she gives no clear feedback. challenging is an understatement and having a required class like this may make you change your major

Terrible teacher. Grades based on very long readings that are difficult to understand. Gives low question pop quizzes with very specific answers from these readings. Doesn't understand that I have other classes and expects our entire time to be just for her class. Exams are very hard, especially for an INTRO class.

The material in this course is not difficult to understand, but Dr. Galloway's expectations are extremely unrealistic. You can feel the passion she has towards the field of PUBH/ this class, but this is by far the hardest class I've ever taken. There are no ways to understand what you did wrong on your exams. She doesn't believe in partial credit.

On the first day of class, she has an entire lecture about why students from previous years failed the class and why she's not a bad teacher and it's not her fualt. That should tell you all you need to know.

I found the content of this class interesting and important to learn about, but Dr. Galloway made it thoroughly unenjoyable to do so. Unfortunately, she's so focused on trying to make an intro class as difficult and tedious as possible that she fails to pass on her passion of public health to the majority of her students. Extremely difficult to succeed on her tests. Attendance is not taken for a grade but is mandatory to do well in class. Tests reflect what is talked about in lecture, not what is on slides. Numerous readings and videos to watch each week, a lot of work needed outside of class to do well.

The test are so hard, no matter how much time you put inside and outside the classroom. She requires you to read long articles and like hour long videos. She said the class isn't about memorizing but literally asks about the articles' specific details. Hated this class.

Do not have words to explain how discouraging and rude she was as a professional. Was not willing to help you even going to office hours. She is very passive-aggressive.

We have at least 5 articles and 2 videos per module, 4-5 modules per exam so you have to memorize 20 articles that vary in length and 6 videos plus whatever is in the lecture slides. We had in-class assignments, basically pop quizzes so you have to show up to every class. Exams are 35-50 questions, half multiple choice half free response.

Don't get me wrong, she is a nice professor. I've never had a negative interaction with her. But that being said I don't think her teaching style works for many students. I attended all class and studied beyond measures for every test. In result, I failed all 4 of her test. Her tests don't match the lectures or the study guides.

Very nice person but absolutely horrible as a professor. Lectures are so interesting and she explains everything very clearly and then does a complete 180 on exams, you will fail most of them. I went to every single class and went to her office hours every week and I am hoping to pass this class with a C. Nearly impossible to pass this class.

Dr. Galloway does not provide any sort of extra credit even though her exams are graded with no remorse. She is difficult to approach and when asking for help, she is no help. I would not recommend taking her if you want to have a decent grade in this "introduction" class.

I would like to say I am sorry if you get stuck with Dr. Galloway. This is the first class I have ever had to drop, even after getting A's in anatomy and physiology. She is lovely when you talk to her, but she grades very harshly, and it's hard to get a B. Good Luck and avoid her if you can!!

Awful. Take the other professors. No matter how much work you put in and if you are present for every class, you still will not be able to preform well. For an intro class, she intentionally makes this class a struggle. She sets kids up for failure and is not approachable whatsoever when asking for help on HOW to study for her impossible exams.

For an introductory Public Health class, she made it extremely difficult. The exams are on 4-8 page articles in which you will need to memorize every single detail for the exams. I put in effort to study 2 weeks before every exam and I still didn't do well. I also went to her OH's. Half of the class doesn't pass or ends up taking the course again.

This woman is the bane of my existence. Not flexible or understanding at all and doesn't care about her students. Tests are essay questions on the tiniest details of 10 page articles or 4 hour documentaries graded extremely harshly. I'm the only one of my friends that didn't drop before the withdrawal period and I truly wish I had.

I took this class my junior year, got an F. I took this class again my senior year…I still failed the course. This is an introductory course, and I passed harder courses with an A. Now I have to change my major and spend another 4 years in college because this professor's purpose is to weed students out.

One of the hardest classes I've taken, despite it being an introductory course. All of the material is based on Dr. Galloway's opinions, as well as grading. Only 3 exams and 1 project. Final exam is optional and can replace your lowest exam score with it. Lectures are long and boring but important. Do not take her if it's at all possible to avoid.

i took her class and failed it with online exams, took the class again during the summer with another professor who used Galloway's slides and had in person exams made nothing below a B on every assignment! 3/10 wouldn't recommend

Yaps about topics that aren't on the exams. Claims she doesn't take attendance but then has random in class assignments that add up to a large portion of your grade. The exams are very long with not a lot of time to do it as half the questions are short response and based on in class videos so essentially you have to go to class.

Run. Exams are mostly based on assigned readings and videos. Just run.

I have had some of the more difficult professors for my science classes here at usc and I wouldn't say professor galloway is the worst. There is just a ridiculous amount of outside class work and the tests are half multiple choice half essay questions that are extremely detailed questions from the readings. Not looking forward to the rest of it.

This course is required for students in the Arnold school but its almost impossible to get a good grade. Test questions are extremely specific and with all the required readings you have to do its extrememly easy to mix up the information. If youre an Arnold school student and havent taken this course yet good luck...

Worst ever!

Whatever you do, do not take Dr. Galloway. She is a terrible teacher the class is not clear and she does not help explain. She gives exams that are extremely hard and doesn't care that an average is a 60 for the whole class. She is not helpful at all.

I don't know if this has been said to other classes, but she mentioned to not make group chats on the FDOC as it will cause anxiety. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make a GroupMe, Snapchats, whatever! Don't listen to her! I guarantee working together as a class will help improve test scores and the class average in the long run!

Gives bad grades with no explanation. Spends whole lecture talking about something with one question on exam and then has 10 questions about something she skimmed over. hard for no reason, assigns readings that are 10 pages long and videos, but does not tell you which ones are important and expects you to memorize all of them

One of the worst professors I have ever had. Does not care that most of her students do terrible on her exams because she wants her class to "be hard" when its literally a intro class. Taking this professor is a waste of time because there are such better people/professors out there that actually care and want their students to succeed.

Wow. She literally just sucks. I'm a very good student and do very well in other classes, and prepared well for all of the exams so far and take really good notes and her exams are still impossible. She also takes forever to grade. Work hard on the epi assignment because that can help your grade a lot, but it's still a difficult assignment.

charlotte galloway is SUCH A BAD PROFESSOR! it's like she is so proud of her classes failing. i'm in her second section and for our last exam, both sections literally failed it because of her. such a bad grader, and exams are mostly articles that are too long for anybody to read. would not recommend to anybody, avoid at all costs please i'm begging

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Run while you can. This has been such a difficult course, and her presence causes extreme anxiety. She creates her tests based on a few MC questions, an mostly written response questions based off extremely long readings and hour long videos. WORST PROSESSOR EVER

so this lady is the worst professor I have ever had and I wasn't even able to finish the class because I would have failed:) Please run for your life and choose happiness over taking this course

Save yourself and just take different teacher. Confusing, did not know we had a TA till the course evals came out, drops the lowest test grade, asks VERY specific questions on a random article or video you probably did not read, exams are 75% short answer and if you don't answer how she wants you to, you get it wrong.

WORST prof I've ever had. I work extremely hard, go to class, take good notes, and study exactly how she tells us too and I still never did well on exams. I literally have done better on 3 orgo exams by a significant amount compared to her exams. she truly is so unqualified to be a teacher. This is NOT how you motivate students to pursue this field

she is a pathetic excuse of a professor. I found her class so interesting and genuinely enjoyed learning the material but time after time, I never did well on exams. There is no reason an introductory course should be this difficult. the students with the other prof are doing significantly better so take her if you can.

She makes an intro class beyond difficult and acts like her class is your only important class. Overflows modules with long videos and articles and expects you to remember on the exam exactly what one random person in an hour long video said. Every exam average was somewhere in the 60s. Save yourself do not take Charlotte Galloway.

The devil works hard but Dr. Galloway works harder. If you can, take someone else. The material was interesting but she makes it almost impossible to do well. She definitely does not grade exams fairly because she won't let you see them and I've had some of the exact same answers as other people and got vasty different grades. run.

I feel like she didn't teach the class very well. Majority of the class were failing. The exams were mostly short answer and essay questions that came from the lecture and approximately 25 readings all for one exam. I do not recommended taking her if you could choose someone else please do it!

Exams were short answer/essay questions on articles and videos she gives in blackboard. Had random in class assignments that counted toward your grade forcing you to go to class. Grades harshly on exams with the average in the 60's. Just take one of the other professors if possible. There is no reason an introduction class should be this difficult.

Absolutely hate Galloway! I have never ever failed a class in my life, but she managed to make this my first. Class is interesting but she is the worst professor I have ever taken. She grades so hard on the exams, which are super hard for no reason. Extra credit barely helped. I can't believe I failed so plz do not take her. USC def needs to fire!

Please do not take her! I never missed a class and yet I still struggled. It's not even really the class, it's how she teaches. This class should not be as hard for an intro class. She's a heavy grader and she doesn't release exam results, which is stupid. I have to retake this class and I do not want her. Don't take her unless you want to fail.

She is not a good teacher at all. Do not take her, stay away at all costs. Content is not hard, but she is very particular about what she is looking for. DO NOT TAKE HER.

Charlotte Galloway is the worst professor I have ever had the displeasure of taking during my time at UofSC. If you are stuck with taking this class with this professor, do anything in your power to find a different course entirely. Do NOT take the class with her. Few grades, graded unfairly, cannot see test results. run.

She was one of the rudest professors ive ever had. she had a few favorite students and only spoke to them the whole time. She genuinely did not teach anything on the tests and then yelled when the class average was a C.

I am honestly a hardworking student and get A's in all of my classes. This class was so RIDICULOUSLY hard for no reason. She takes pride in most students receiving 60's on exams. Do not take if you do not have to.

She made the class a lot more difficult than it needed to be. I would not recommend taking this professor if you do not need to. If you do, prepare to spend most of your time on it.

I genuinely wouldn't take this professor. Run. She is never clear with what she wants on exams and every time, you are wrong no matter what.

I would walk in the middle of the road on the way to this class because getting hit by a semi truck would have been a better experience

after being in Dr. galloways class for about three months I was diagnosed with clinical depression if that says anything about her

I could genuinely write an entire dissertation on why she should not have a job as a teacher. Even if you meet with her one on one she will not show you her grading/what you got wrong. Sit in the front of class, always participate, turn off your phone, read and watch EVERYTHING, go to her zoom & in person "office hours", do the extra credit!!!

If I could give her a zero I would. Genuinely the most difficult and dismissive professor/teacher I have ever encountered. If you want to pass you need to do the following: Never miss class, sit near the front, participate, do the out of class exercises, read every article, watch every video, go to office hours, worship the ground she walks on.

Do. Not. Take. Her. Take literally any other professor. Our class has been averaging below a passing score on all of our exams, and we're at the end of the semester! She is difficult, and not clear about what she wants you to do. It feels like pulling teeth coming to her class every time. AND she takes attendance!

If you don't have a religion get one.

Some people succeed in her classes. You don't have to pass a single assignment to pass the class, but that reflects on the professor at some point. Be prepared to spend 5+ hours outside of class a week on this course if you aim to even pass.

Please find any other prof to take 302. You will not be able to see any marks on your exams, says she does 1on1s for this but refused to meet with me for the exact reason. She will misspeak in class & not correct herself, she does not follow her own rubrics, is unable to answer questions w/out being condescending & threatens grades when questioned.

Please do not take Professor Galloway. I know all the professors for this class are rated poorly, but I know understand her rating. She is very lecture heavy and does not SPECIFY what she is looking for on the tests. She'll say "know x" and "know y" but it never applies to the exam. I honestly think she just grades based on her opinion.

Refuses to meet with students. She says one thing then completely changes it a couple minutes later. Won't let you look or talk about your exams. I spend hours studying but get no where. Keep in mind im a straight A students.

Do not take her! She claims that bad average exam grades are the students fault and took no responsibility in the fact that maybe she just is a bad professor. Wont let you look at your exams to see what you did wrong. She also just has a very condescending and know all attitude.

Words cannot express how bad this professor truly is. I am a 4.0 student. Everything is readings based. Unclear expectations for exams. She lies about what to expect and learn and then asks vague yet unrealistically specific FRQs. She grades by opinion and doesn't allow you to see graded exams. Lectures are nonsense and so hard to follow. DONT TAKE

Do not take this class. Isn't direct about what will be on exams. Lecture is confusing Felt like I had to teach myself the course.

AWFUL. RUDE. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. Charlotte will absolutely make it her goal to ruin your life. It is impossible to even pass this class, she acts students are taking no other courses or have no life whatsoever. She preached about how we had to "meet her halfway" when she refused to teach us anything, help us out, or even grade our work.

Our grades were pretty much fully based on our exams, as there was only one assignment, and most of the exam questions are short response. She grades them herself, which we never see what we got wrong or why, and if you ask she will not tell you. So there really is no way to succeed here. It feels like she grades you on whether she likes you or not

Horrible . do not take her i dont understand why she still is allowed to work here after all the bad reviews.
