She is new professor, it was easier than ordinary professors like Herreid or Poulin. Just study hard in order to achieve A in this course, study really hard.
She goes way to fast you can hardly get down all the information the book helps a lot but her test are hard first test avg was a 61 there is just so much information for this class and you have to relisten to the lecture and really pay attention in order to do well i recommend taking it with someone else of you can
the exam is really hard! (cheat sheet is allowed to bring) although she says that the exam is only based on lecture, you still need to read text book in order to understand the materials. she has accent and her lecture is just reading off the lecture slides. you don't have to attend class since you can listen to them online.
The class contains a lot of information but she's a good professor. The whole class is based on memorization so you need to do work in order to keep the information in your memory. She lets you use cheat sheets on the exams so it's pretty easy.
She is a new teacher so she is getting used to how the course is supposed to be taught. This class isn't hard if you study. You do not need the textbook. Just listen to the lectures over online and use your cheat sheet wisely.
She is new professor, and allows 1 cheat sheet which is awesome. There are many problems that you have to know her exam questions and understand those. There are not that long, but I felt little bit long I got A- in this course... but I will take that which is awesome :) She is really good at explaning concepts or etc. Get Poulin if you can tho
You do not really need the textbook for her class. She is really nice and friendly and her tests are fair. Tests are based off lecture material only-not text. She reads off the powerpoints but adds in a lot of info. to make things more clear. I think going to class would results in much better grades, but you can get away w/ just listening online.
Most of her information is directly from the slides. Even though you are allowed a cheat sheet, you are much better off knowing most of the information rather than cramming it all onto one sheet.
Dr. Lindqvist is amazing. Just go to class, buy the lecture guide and fill it in after each lecture (there is a lot of information) while relistening to the lecture. Go to the TA reviews and stay on top of the material and you will do great. You do not need the textbook, everything is based off her lecture slides. Overall great professor.
her class is too boring, read, read, read, read
There is very little excuse for doing poorly in her class. The lectures are recorded so if you miss class or if you attended and would like to hear it again you are free to listen to it. Nothing she doesn't mention in class will show up on any of the exams. However there is a great deal of material so I recommend reading the book as well.
First of all its a Bio 200 class, it's not supposed to be super easy. You do have to study and review a lot but you shouldn't be surprised because it's a somewhat difficult subject. Dr. Lindqvist is helpful! she is a relatively new teacher but she gives you old exams to study. Lectures are helpful IF YOU ARE AWAKE and attentive. Good teacher.
Bio 200 is a difficult class regardless of the professor, you will need to read and study almost everyday regardless of the professor. Dr. Lindqvist gives you the tools to do well in this class but you have to be an active student to get a good grade.
Great professor. Lab can be difficult and the group project doesn't help, but she is the most fair out of all the bio professors. Relates some of the concepts to her research which is cool. A LOT of memorization, but allows a cheat sheet for all exams. Buy the book and read it before class, watch lectures twice and you will get an A.
easier than poulin. But poulin is a better lecturer. Not too much experience teaching but passable if you try. AP bio recommended. She likes plants, polar bears, and primate stuff, so expect questions from there.
She's a great lecturer who doesn't just read straight from the powerpoint. She tries to relate the material to recent research including her own. She knows the topic very well. The material IS hard but she allows a cheat sheet. I would take her again because she is passionate about biology.
Awesome class! She's really nice, and I'd recommend her for everyone!
She is clear and understandable when lecturing. The tests are fair, and if you put in a good amount of time studying (the material is not difficult, it's just that there is a lot of information to be tested on in Bio 200), then you will get a decent grade. I believe she chooses to curve the grade at the end of the course.
She is a nice professor and very approachable. However, her lectures are really boring and she has a monotone. Would have preferred to have taken Dr. Poulin
BIO 200 isn't an easy course, no matter what angle you look at it from. BUT I will say, TAKE LINDQVIST PLEASE!!!!! Her lectures are very clear and she doesn't make you read the textbook EVER (don't buy it). Everything on her (easier, by far, than Poulin's) exams are what she says in class, so no surprises. STUDY, do practice examsA. No regrets!
Loved this class! The semester contains two exams, and a final. She allows a cheat sheet , you still have to study though. Lectures are recorded, so you can go back to watch them. Lab isn't that bad, but don't slack off in there-it's a huge portion of your grade. Don't bother with the textbook, barely cracked it open.
Dr. Lindqvist is a sweet lady who conducts research on what she teaches. Although she has a slight accent, she speaks at a good pace and records her lectures. Her exam questions are straightforward; however, she asks EXTREMELY specific questions. If you think little details and facts that she says during lecture are not important, think again.
Cheat sheets are available every exam. TAKE ADVANTAGE. Even when you think you know plenty, fill up that sheet. Exams are ridiculously tricky. Great professor, really knows material. However, there is plenty of material covered and exams are tricky. Very little curve. Recommend taking her, don't need to buy text, simply watch her online lectures.
Not learning in her class, power point goes too fast and she never stays the main points on the ppt
Bio201 is a weed out class for science majors, but you can tell Lindqvist is very passionate about what she teaches and is always ready to offer extra help. She's wonderful.
Lindqvist is very clear when it comes to her lectures. Attend your lecture classes and take down notes - it will provide to be very beneficial for exams. Study ahead for each exam and you'll be fine. She allows a cheat sheet for every exam so use that to your advantage. Recommend her!
No Curve whats so ever even though the class is extremely difficult and time consuming . i scored higher than 75 on each exam and still did not even get a b-
Lectures were a good example of a powerpoint: not reading off slides, but using them to point out key ideas and examples. Some of the exam questions are specific, but it helps to be able to make and use a cheat sheet. I got below passing on my midterms, but I started doing textbook readings and made a cheat sheet for the final and managed to pass.
She does not give curves. Do not recommend her to freshman. If you have her listen to Poulin's lectures on Unlearns, she created the course and is very good.
shes funny but you NEED the lecture guide. there are almost no words on her presentations in lecture and all pictures so its very hard to take notes freehand.
This course requires a lot of studying and effort, but it pays off well in the end. Dr. Lindqvist provides all necessary materials in a very organized manner. Lecture is interesting, and lab isn't nearly as bad as everyone says.
Go to every single lecture and study. Overall, it is a pretty difficult class, but the hard work will pay off in the end. Lab is not that bad, but it does require studying as well. Only based off of 3 exams but you get a cheat sheet (full front and back of a sheet of paper) TAKE ADVANTAGE. Don't give up. She is very nice and has organized teaching.
Dr. Lindqvist is a very passionate teacher. She uses Top Hat, so attendance is strongly recommended. She explains subjects very thoroughly, and office hours are very helpful. As long as you pay attention in class, you will do fine
Attending class is essential as top hat questions will contribute to your grade. Dr. Lindqvist is a sweet lady and is passionate about biology. I would strongly recommend taking her. She makes the material easy but this class is not easy at all. Take good notes and you will do well. I got 86.7 and received an A-.
Attend class to get TopHat points. Put a lot of effort into lab- it's half of your grade. Do practice exams and make a good cheat sheet and you should succeed. Slight curve even though lecture averages are in the 60s. Tests are only based on what is taught in lecture- no need to buy the book
To get an A, I recommend listening to the recordings on UBlearns and practice the old exams that she posted because most of the questions are basically the same but worded differently. Go to office hour because she will try her best to help you and she is really a nice and kind person.
Re listen to her lecture after you go home and take notes, this will really help you. You will get a sheet of white paper for lecture test (and a index card for lab quizzes) to put whatever you want on it so USE IT, WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN!! Take her practice test, and try in lab. Lab is super easy, just show up and do the work..
The professor was pretty good. She knew what she was talking about and took her time. She allows students to use a cheat sheet on the exams which some other professor don't allow. Evolutionary Bio is overall a very difficult course.
Based on what I see, I thought she was the easiest prof. comparing to the rest of the Bio 200 professors.
Terrible professor. Her exams are ridiculously difficult and cover not the important or main topics from class, but rather she tests you on the little tiny details or points that she barely covers. Also has a slight accent, sometimes it is very hard to understand what words she is trying to say. Sentences don't always make sense.
She's an alright professor. Her tests seem to focus more on the microscopic details she mentioned once or twice in class rather than the material actually covered. You CAN use cheat sheets on exams. Class graded mainly via lab. She does participation through TopHat and she's actually addicted to doing that. It gets annoying after a while
Goes really fast, tests are very detailed and specific . Cheat sheet is allowed, make that look like the bible. Challenging class, I would not recommend for your first semester in college. Pick another professor.
Lectures were recorded, although Tophat questions were given to promote attendance to lecture. She talks fast and goes over a lot of content. Definitely a class you need to study for because the tests were very specific, although a sheet is allowed on tests. The TAs review sessions and practice questions were very helpful.
Lectures are recorded but I recommend going. She only tests you on lecture material but some questions are very specific. You get a cheat sheet for every exam front and back. Her exams are fair and she is the best teacher for BIO 200 in UB. Textbook is "required" but you'll never use it.
I loved this prof; anyone who disagrees just doesn't realize how much effort this class takes. All lectures are recorded, but she does in class questions, so I recommend going and then re-watching the lectures to review before the tests. She also has a lecture guide you can buy, which I strongly recommend (I saw a huge improvement after using it)
SHES AWESOME!!!
Her class is entertaining and straight forward. All of her lectures are recorded but extra credit points are offered via i-clicker as an incentive to attend. Her exams are HARD and specific but out of all the BIO 200 professors, she is the easiest. They let you have cheat sheets and I recommend cramming as much info as physically possible on them.
very lecture heavy, gotta go to class cuz she uses iclicker, hard tests, allows cheat sheets but still hard, no hw, decent
Prof was okay although she spent the entire semester just reading from a binder. Attendance isn't mandatory but you have to go if you want points for clicker questions. The actual material isn't hard but there's just so much to know, you really have to work all semester if you want a good grade. Cheat sheets are allowed which I guess can be helpful
I recommend taking Dr. Lindqvist! Her exams are VERY straightforward taken from the lecture and not as tricky as Herreid's. Her lectures are extremely detailed, so it is quite hard to keep up with all the information. However, it should be expected since BIO200 is a weed out course. Also, after 30 lecture quizzes, she gives out extra credit.
Dr. Lindqvist is a great BIO 200 professor. She is very passionate about her field and you could tell in her lectures. She does go fast through tough material and the tests are very specific, but she is always accessible during office hours and on her email. If you are debating about which BIO 200 professor to take, I would recommend Dr. Lindqvist.
Dr. Lindqvist's lectures were fast and detailed but what really makes her class good is her and TA's review videos. The TA's review videos helped tremendously. In this class, you are only graded by 2 exams, lecture quizzes and a final, no homework. Final and exams were fair. Overall material is hard but manageable
Professor Lindqvist is extremely nice and is available for those who need help or clarification. However, the class is very test-heavy (3 exams). Remotely, it is open note, but the timing is only 50 minutes, some questions being vague or very specific. *Tests are lecture-based *Review notes consistently *Content heavy *E.C. quizzes given
I had the class online and tests were only on lecture material with a few trick questions. To get an A, just study the lectures and review them as much as possible before the exams. She lets you use cheat sheets so write everything u need on there. Theres one question quizzes in the lectures. The class is slightly curved; it was a 92+ for an A.
The structure of the class will set you up for failure. I would suggest Dr. Poulin
This class has SO much information to remember. I took this class the first semester of college and it was awful. There is already so much adjusting to do from high school to college and this made it extremely worse. I also feel like it was information that probably won't even be helpful to me in the future. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE!!
your graded by two exams and the final no homework but the exams are on little details she goes over during lecture and not really the whole topics and your understanding although you are given a cheat sheet it isnt always helpful but its definitely a weed out course and it got me
PRACTICE TESTS, PRACTICE TESTS, PRACTICE TESTS, this course has a fill in yourself book you can buy at the book store and I recommend it solely for the access to the site with practice problems for each lecture. Besides that Lindqvisdt is passionate and very kind, I really enjoyed this course, but it's most definitely a weed out course.
She has a bit of an accent so it's hard to understand her sometimes. But other than that, a really great professor. There's only 3 exams for a grade, but you can have a cheat sheet for every exam. MAKE, THE, CHEATSHEET. It's literally your lifeline for a good grade. Also super friendly during office hours. Had some great convo with her.
Presents lectures with slides, but some of the most important things you should remember are said, not written on slides. I found it easiest to type notes, then write them out later. Overall VERY entertaining to listen to, and she seems like she really does care about you doing well in the class. 100% would take again. MAKE THE TEST CHEAT SHEETS!
Professor Lindqvist is very passionate about the topic and has engaging lectures. Its a hard course because of everything you need to memorize but you can use a cheat sheet on the tests. Attendance isnt mandatory but you can get points by going to class and answering the iclicker questions. Some extra credit offered.
She is a pretty good professor. You must attend every class if you want all the participation points, which is one problem because some absence is unavoidable and there's no chance for makeup. She is passionate about the course and I think her slides are decent. Extra credit chances at times.
DO THE CHEAT SHEETS. Cant say that enough. The class is definitely not easy you have to work for it but doable. Dr. Lindqvist is a very good professor and super sweet(she does have an accent). If you miss class you won't get the clicker points but lectures are uploaded. Also when studying for tests, majority of what you need are on reviewTA slides.
Dr. Lindqvist is a great professor and knows what she is talking about. To do good in this class you need to make sure you just dont look over the lecture slides but you should listen to what she says in her lectures because that is the important information. Dont get discouraged though because going to the TA reviews are extremely helpful.
Personally, I loved Dr. Lindqvist. This class is LECTURE HEAVY (I never used the textbook). All the info you need for the exams (or really the cheat sheet) is in the lectures and the slides that the TAs made for review. Show up to class to get clicker points because there's not much else that you're graded on besides tests.
She is a terrible teacher. She tests you on things that she doesn't even explain or mention. I tagged her as hilarious because she is a joke. I kid you not, she couldn't count to thirteen when talking about the Galapagos finches. Her accent makes it difficult to understand her. She was talking about atolls and she pronounced atolls as assholes.
I think Dr.L was fantastic. You can tell how much she really cares even if BIO 200 is a introductory course. She's just so happy and enthusiastic to be sharing her knowledge. She's given plenty of opportunities for extra credit like extra iClicker questions to mini open note quizzes. Lecture Heavy. Attendance isn't required but iClicker in class.
Lindqvist tries to engage her students during her lectures and all around seems well versed in what she is teaching. Iclickers are really important and BIG TIP **most of the iclicker question are questions found in the achieve textbook**. If I knew this information I would've taken all the lecture quizzes after each lecture to feel better prepared.
I personally hated the material in this class, I found it to be useless and a waste of my time. Don't have the same mindset as me. If you want an A in this class the only way you get it is with a lot of devotion and extra hours. Dr. Lindvquist is a very nice lady but the material is just really overwhelming. Stay ahead and review constantly!
Dr. Lindqvist is very passionate in what she talks about. This is a class that people say is hard, but with Dr. Lindqvist this class is manageable if you PUT IN THE WORK. Her test questions were very fair, TA review slides before the exam are really helpful BUT DO YOUR OWN STUDYING along with this, & textbook was not that useful for me personally.
Write down every word she says. Do every practice problem you can, and look at the TA slides. Study and make your cheat sheet for exams well in advance. Material is disgustingly boring but if you work hard it is an easy A. Lindqvist is an okay professor, but it is a weed out course so it is meant to be challenging.
This class is a weed out class, so don't take it if it isn't required and if it is, get ready to STUDY. Attend class and get the iclicker points bc they add up and write down everything she says during the lecture on your cheatsheet- that is the only way you will pass. Also, make sure you study for your lab quizzes because they add up at the end.
great professor. knows the subject well. class is test heavy and all on lecture material. her slides are not that helpful, you HAVE TO TAKE NOTES ON WHAT SHE SAYS. She allows cheatsheet for every test. attend TA reviews because they help concise all the lectures. There is also lab section. quiz every week and group presentation at the end.
Great professor. Super sweet and passionate about bio. Listen to EVERY WORD SHE SAYS; this is where all of the info is. Textbook may be helpful, but I didn't read any of it. She goes fast in lecture, so rewatch them to truly learn. A lot of material and it can be overwhelming, so keep on top of studying. Genuinely enjoyed this class. Good luck! :)
The exam was very detail oriented. Lectures are very important and you should pay attention to the minor details and specifications. If you don't go to class you will fail because of the in-class quizzes, and you almost need to always get them correct. The class will be very hard if you don't spend A LOT of time studying and reviewing content.
Your grade is pretty much iClicker questions, attendance and tests. Lecture is info heavy and you have to memorize small details, but every test she allows one front and back cheat sheet; get familiar with it, spend time on it and you'll do fine. Talks fast but lectures are recorded. Seems like a nice person!
Material for evolutionary biology is so boring. Do not start skipping class. Grades on test basically depended on how effective you are at making the cheat sheets you were allowed to have for exams.
You can tell she's enthusiastic about the topic, but it just doesn't make up for how poor of a lecturer she is in this class. her sides have basically no information on them, she talks extremely fast, and if you don't copy down every single thing she says you'll be lost
Dr. Lindqvist was my favorite professor during my first semester. While the class is lecture heavy, all the lectures are recorded in case you need to go back and rewatch some things you might have missed (this was very helpful when studying for lecture exams !!) There are no assignments aside from infrequent lecture homeworks, and the exams are MC.
Great professor, passionate about topic. She does go through the slides quickly but uploads the slides and records the lecture. Not much homework just very lecture heavy
shes passionate about her work but her slides have little to no information- she talks fast and the questions that are on the exam are usually just verbally said during lecture, not on the slides. very little grades in this class, so if fail the exams you can't pass the class. definitely a weed out class and the lab is even more of a waste of time.
It was not really her fault, but the class itself is horrible at UB. Your entire grade is based on your cheat sheet, the class is entirely memorization, lindqvist does okay in explaining, but even she keeps yapping about random stuff unrelated to BIO200. Overall the class is horrible, shes okay at teaching.
You can tell she loves what she is teaching! Makes you wanna go to class. Btw GO TO CLASS! This class might seem easy but it's a LOT to memorize in a short amount of time. The cheat sheet won't help too much as it will take long for you to look for things there during the exam. Review+memorize lecture after class!!! Use lect recordings
