she's has these wicked notes. you purchase them and fill them out in class, they're are an excellent tool to learning in her class. she's fair and willing to help you. this is one brilliant teacher!
bring a recorder to her lectures and you'll be close to mastering her exams..exam questions are sometimes indicated during the lecture. just don't get mesmerize with her beauty and brain!!!
By far one of the best professors I have had, very approachable and professional yet accessible. Extremely intelligent and always willing to help; appreciative or her students' talent.
very very intelligent.knows her stuff. very willing to help. the best teacher so far.
She is an excellent professor. I would say she is one of the best at explaining the material, really knows her stuff, and truly wants you to do well. You are lucky if you have her as your prof! Would have to say her class is hard work!
Amazing teacher! She moves quickly through the material (which takes getting used to for some people) but her ability to convey concepts & material is outstanding. Outside of class she is very helpful (you can reach her by phone or email).
Really amazing professor, although the class was fast paced (I took it in the summer) I found she made it interesting. VERY helpful and always available. She does have a funny tendency to use the word "appreciate" alot though.
A fascinating prof...probably the best prof I've had in all my years of university. She is always ready to help you and teaches the course material with such eagerness and interest. You could tell that she is really there for the students and genuinelly cares how well we do. Take her class!!!!
Makes things interesting, approachable, professional. Excellent professor.
GREAT GREAT TEACHER!!!!!!! Although the subject was hard.. she made it bearable. =)
Great Professor! Very clear on what she expect from you and give really detailed test outlines so you know exactly what to study. With her as a prof you should be able to pass this class with an A even with no science background!
She is highly organized, and helpful!! She makes students feel very comfortable to ask questions. She explains the materials very well, and also makes them very interesting!
she makes this course very easy to understand and gives you tips on everything you need to get good in the class
It is rare to find a professor that demonstrates this high level of balance among interest in the material, intelligence, knowledge, enthusiasm and approachability (profs this talented, I find, are usually stuck in the canals of research and do not look forward to teaching). Great experience overall.
Excellent Prof. One of the best I have encountered! So friendly & helpful and really cares that her students do well. For someone like myself, where sciences are not my forte, she made this class a pleasure & easy to do well if you tried hard.
Best Prof i have ever had. Very clear, Helps you learn, Would make paint drying interesting. A+ prof.
By far the best teacher. She wants students to succeed. She encourages both knowledge and good marks. Very helpful, organized and interesting. She looks like a Hollywoood star. She the perfect exampelof brain + beauty.
very intelligent and articulate. she's an amazing prof!!
The BEST prof ever.. Made a dry course like Physiology SO INTERESTING... She would tell us precisely what she wanted us to know. Very Knowledgeable, understanding, and most of all, knows how to teach. It was a pleasure being in her class.. I would recommend every1 to attend her classes.
Fabulous. Responsive to student questions. Enthusiastic. Fair.
Truely amazing teacher, knows her stuff and makes class interesting! There are no tricks, no bell curves, she wants you to succeed and will help you do so. Doing well on exams will require an integration of textbook and lectures though. She will probably remain to be one of my favourite teachers of my entire nursing program.
Excellent professor. She really wants you to know the material and will help you in whatever way she can! Her exams are fair but not easy, you have to actually study for them and you have to come to class to know what to study for!
she's great!
Thanks.
Super healpful, fair and knowledgeable!
Charlotte is great! She is extremely helpful and really impresses on her students that she wants everyone to do well and she really means it! Her tests and exams are fair, but not easy. Attendance to her classes is mandatory in order to do well. I had her in first year and am now going into my third year and is one of my top two profs so far!
Interesting examples!
Fantastic lecturer, extremely adept at engaging students in the topics, goes out of her way to help with study skills. Rekindled my interest in the subject matter and mjotivated me to tighten up my study skills after a long break from university courses. Very much of a tough and yet highly caring mother aura! Super Highly recommended!
Although I did not like learning anatomy, Charlotte was very helpful and always been there to give us study tips and guidance to doing better in the course. Concept maps are very helpful in raising your grades so put in some effort in them if your grade isn't that good!
Memorize the powerpoints and you'll get a great mark. Use the textbook when you need to but Charlotte does a good job explaining so go to class. The concept maps will boost your grade. Finals are easier than midterms. She really emphasizes on using concept maps and if you want help she wants to see one so ask questions during lecture if you can.
She's amazing! She engages her students in lectures and will be there for you whenever you need help. She emphasizes a lot about concept maps and they really do help! Memorizeunderstand her power points and you will be good for the exams. Make sure you go to her lectures because she explains the information perfectly. Overall she is amazing!
Amazing professor. Really clear as to what is expected from students. Efficient and inspirational. Guides you through learning strategies (concept maps are a biggy) and they really do help!
THE BEST PROF EVER!! Charlotte is the greatest most amazing prof I have ever had. She's smart, she's an engaging lecturer and she's always there to answer questions and is happy to help a student if they are struggling. A must have prof.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Tests were tough, but if you read the material and ask questions you will be okay! Clear criteria of what is expected. She spends a lot of time explaining what to do, and how you can make it better. Advocate for students! Simply an excellent professor.
Emphasizes concept maps WAY TOO MUCH! This isn't how everyone learns. Some students learn by writing notes, others by solely reading. She essentially tells students to adopt a new learning method, even though it may not work. Didn't like the concept maps.
Charlotte really does care about her students and she is a great lecturer! She makes sure to explain things in a simpler way. The only complaint I have is that the tests and exams were INCREDIBLY hard. She tells you to study only general topics but I feel like her tests were the opposite and focused on small details. The textbook will be your bff.
There is too much focus on the concept maps in her course. Specifically told students "this is the only way to do well in the course", and this is not true. I only did the concept maps as required, but did well on the exams. Also, too much detail for the midterms.
DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO SWITCH INTO HER SECTION. SHE IS INSPIRING, BRILLIANT AND WILL HELP YOU WITH WHATEVER YOU NEED. And her concept maps get a bit annoying, but you'll be glad you did em when you know the content inside out. She is hands down the best prof Ive had at Ryerson, plus not bad to have to stare at for 3 hours ;)
This course was the first science course I had taken since high school 6 years previously. Charlotte made me believe in myself. The energy she brings to class is incredible and she has converted me to concept maps. Take this course with Charlotte if at all possible - her love of the material shines through.
The BEST prof I have ever had. Not only did she manage to teach me and help me understand a hard subject, she made me like it too. She's very kind and approachable, and she made me believe in myself. SWITCH INTO HER SECTION, it's a must. She's extremely smart and will do everything she can to help you. Loved this prof and her lectures!
Charlotte is a very in depth and knowledgeable professor. I found her great beacuse she was always willing to help studentS. She's a very motivating person, and at times it could come off as being a little too intense, but the reality is that she just wants to see all her students doing well. Attending her classes and asking questions really helps
Charlotte is a great teacher. She truly cares about how you preform in her class. She has amazing lectures and is a rare find. If you are a visual learner you are going to love her! Tests are tricky.
She is the best Biology and Physiology prof that I have ever had. Also, she is very knowledgeable and excited about topics which makes you to be excited about physiology as well.
Amazing prof - even though you can just study the slides she makes it worth it to go to lecture.
Super love this prof! She inspires her students alot and teaches you how to study more effectively with concept maps. Her slides are straightforward. Lectures are amazing as she is very knowledgeable on what shes teaching. Only tests you on topics learned in class. 10/10 would take again
Great professor, shes very knowledgeable about physiology and breaks down concepts in a clearer and coherent way. Attending class is important, theres a lot of material so start studying early.
Responsive to emails and tries to give advantages to the students. Tests are unique and only includes what is taught in lecture slides. Beware of pictures included in the slides, exam questions include extremely subtle information found in the diagrams/graphics. Fair tests, not easy but not difficult. One of the better professors in my opinion.
she still remembered me 2yrs later! super caring, can even talk abt the weird mole on your butt. GET MUJI PENS AND START THE CONCEPT MAPS ASAP or you will not eat/sleep/crap until the deadline. tried so hard but exam ? are confusing as hell. gtfo if its not required. known for failing despite her great teaching skills. CANT FALL BEHIND! love her.
best prof.
Loved Charlotte as a prof. She's extremely knowledgeable, engaging and funny. Pay attention in class, keep up with weekly lecture (try to skim the slides or watch a CrashCourse video on the weekly topic before lecture - then review/study after lecture) Doing so and asking Charlotte questions as you go will ensure you a good mark.
She's incredible at simplifying and teaching difficult concepts very well. Very caring and overall sweet prof. Exams were all MC and seemed to be fine but despite trying very hard, I couldn't get the grade I expected and felt very frustrated at the end. Ask for a midterm+final review: she gave LOTS of hints that were on exam.
Charlotte is a good teacher and she really wants her students to pass, but the study technique she emphasizes on, are concepts maps and they do not really work for everyone. Do your readings after every class, if not they would pile up and you would have too much to read for the test and exams. Her exams are easier than her tests
The best prof I ever had! She is so passionate about the subject and knows A LOT! Always happy to share her expertise and answer questions. Overall, her lectures are amazing, she is super dedicated and really wants her students to succeed.
THE absolute best prof I've ever had in all my undergrad/postgrad years. I worship this woman! I had her for anatomy & physiology many years ago as an independent student (with engineering background) and fell in love with the subject - many, many thanks to her! And now, I am in medical school. I cannot think how any prof can ever be better!
Dr. Youngson is definitely one of the best profs I ever had in my university career. She teaches with so much passion. She genuinely wants to see her students do well. She is constantly motivating her student to push ahead and will give you great pointers on how to become a better student. I will never forget her, and you wont either! Thank you
If you don't like her then ur probably among those who just cannot absorb the fact that living organisms evolve to only live if they eat food, which often happens to be of a certain restricted type, and then they evolve to eventually die.
Charlotte herself is a very great instructor who really cares about her students and is really nice if you speak with her. My only issue is the course she teaches as there is a lot of content to study and it is now narrowed down at all (60+ slides a week with 13+ chapters on each exam). I think the course needs to modified to better suit nurses.
If you have her as a prof youre set! Shes such an amazing prof who genuinely wants to see her students do well. Use her advice and make concept maps and you will do well. Shes great at explaining and shes very lenient and understanding. Best prof Ive had for sure.
Charlotte was the greatest prof from Ryerson Ive had so far. I loved her class, she is so caring and explains the content so well. MAKE SURE THAT WHEN DOING THE CONCEPT MAP YOU LINK EVERYTHING BACK TO THE MAIN PICTURE (thank me later). If you study her slides you will do well and you only need the textbook for the readings at the end of each chptr.
Everyone and their mom knows who Charlotte is. She's great, knowledge and patient. I enjoyed her lectures but did struggle on her exams only because the concept map technique doesn't really work for me. But overall she is great.
Charlotte is such an amazing prof, you are lucky if you have her! Make sure to study off the slides and do the readings she assigns. She is super nice! If you don't understand a concept she will gladly explain after class. Make sure to link everything together in your concept maps.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! She is extremely knowledgable and her lectures are interesting! If you ever are confused or need help send her an email or go up to her during breaks in class! She is extremely nice, such an amazing person and cares for her students. LISTEN TO WHAT SHE SAYS!(she gives good advice) ALWAYS LINK CONCEPTS TO MAIN PIC IN THE MAP!
So I had her for my anatomy class for this recent semester and it was terrible. In my personal opinion, for her recorded powerpoints she would just repeat whats on the slides. For evaluations, it was extremely difficult as the semester went on especially since she gave 45 seconds per question and a paragraph as the question.
Charlotte is honestly such a nice and caring professor. She responds to emails very quickly (even on weekends) and will support you in any way. Timed tests are an issue, but they are not a problem if you actually study. She is honestly the nicest professor I've ever had. Tests and exams are very straight forward.
I had her this semester. She is really kind nice. She is willing to help at any time. The thing what annoyed me were the 45 seconds per question. None of the other classes had this kind of format. Concept maps, not everyone learns by that way. I don't understand my own concept map lmao. Stop saying the exact same thing again in your lectures.
I had an ap1 collab with Professor Charlotte. I got an excellent experience with her and recommend whoever receives this professor to become engaged in science. Make sure to know your chemistry when taking evaluations in your course.
I wished she did something else other than Narrated slides. It gets super irritating, when you miss something that you hear in the end of the narration, and when you go back, you have to listen to the whole narration all over again. Especially hate it in those slides, when she mentions about the 4 prong approach. TAKES YEARSS. Pros: Nice prof.
Charlotte is super nice and wants to reassure people all the time. I know a lot of people had trouble with timing on tests and while I agree, it also kinda helped? It allowed me to get it over with faster and not stress as much, but sometimes I'd wonder if I could get another % more if I just had more time. Concept maps helped so much!
I love this prof with my whole life. She is so so kind and one of the few profs that WANTS you to do well. Although you only get 45 seconds per question its more than enough, if you know your stuff. If you ever have a problem you can go to her for EVERYTHING. She is absolutely amazing and if you have the chance TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES.
She is such a nice prof, helps students whenever she can, always answers her emails (answered mine in less than 5 minutes), loved going to lectures because she is so sweet!
Charlotte is a really good teacher and shes really nice. she will tell you time and time again about the "four prong approach" but be aware its not helpful for everyone's way of learning. Make sure you pay attention and actually understand or else you'll have a lot of trouble on the tests. No readings or anything but the powerpoints like 100 slides
Take classes with Charlotte! She is so sweet and truly cares about her students. During her tutorials, she gives a good summary of that week's chapter, and provides students with pointers on what to take notes on. Evaluations are fair, with quizzes and tests containing questions that are straightforward, and concept map is outlined in detail.
Please take Charlotte if you can. She is an excellent prof. She makes sure that every student understands the material very well, and her questions are fair for the time-limit. She also makes sure to have informal discussions during class, making the class feel less like a formal class gathering. Also very mindful of student's mental health. Love!
Charlotte is one of the best Biology profs ever at Ryerson! She makes lectures very informative and inspirational. She really cares about her students and wants everyone to succeed in her class! She is such a sweet person! She made anatomy and physiology a fun course to learn and I appreciate all her hard work! Hope to have her int he future :)
Charlotte is an absolute queen! Very caring professor, and super nice. Gives good studying advice, and is always a great help. It is clear that she wants her students to succeed, and I would take her again in a heartbeat!
She is a nice person, however I do not like her teaching method bc she doesn't consider other factors, the 4 prong approach doesn't work for everyone and neither does making quizzes/midterms so short. I wish she considered that students have more classes in the summer as well that are also compressed.
Please avoid if you can. I think she could be more considerate with giving her students more time to do quizzes and exams. She only gives us 38 minutes for the midterm when we have 50 questions, although she said if you know the material you should be able to answer quickly, i dont think that is the case for everyone.
This prof testing is very hard
Very caring instructor that gives clear guidelines. Did the course during summer so was alot of material in a short time but was sad to see it end. Loved the material. Very fair if you put in alot of time on concept maps. Not ay all an easy course but you learn alot and i believe anyone can do well if they keep on top of lecture review.
Prof. Charlotte Youngson is my favourite professor I've had. She is the most caring, genuine, professor you could ask for. Some of her concepts are more difficult to learn, but if you need the help she will assist you more than needed.
Amazing professor she keeps you engaged and is not boring at all. The recorded lectures are an amazing plus because you can go back and understand and listen to the concepts and explanations as many times as you want. They should make this mandatory for these types of classes as it was a huge learning benefit and recordings were engaging as well.
Best prof not one flaw! Love her and hopefully I have her again next year!!
Dr Youngson goes above and beyond to make sure that students succeed in the course. I have not seen any professor as committed as her to a student's success. Her classes are very interesting. She uses drawings to explain concepts and I found this very useful.
She made one of the hardest courses an easy course. You can get an easy A in this course. She cares about students' learning and does everything for students' success.
Charlotte was not only our prof but also our therapist. She is the SWEETEST prof ever. She genuinely cares about your success and gives you a lot of strategies to help you. The 4 prong approach is probably really effective, but it can be time-consuming so find what works best for you. If you have the option to take a course with Charlotte DO IT!
Charlotte is approachable and caring but be sure to read through all lecture material. Textbook is supportive to lecture notes.
Amazing and most caring prof. Course is pretty heavy with the amount of work; however, great teaching style and very clear with marking. Not unfair at all. Each quiz worth 5%- total of 20%, 2 midterms (easy), final exam (easy). If you do the work and stay on top of your notes, you will get an A, attend her tutorials to better understand the content
Charlotte has been by far the greatest professor I've had within my academic career. She cares a lot about her students and gives a lot of guidance. For a course that is very heavy, she somehow managed to simplify it. Although going through the lectures is time consuming it's really important, she explains everything thoroughly.
So much content. Lectures were long, slides were on avg 90 slides. Tests are straight forward and easy - first 2 quizzes and midterm are easy. Felt we didn't get enough time for quizzes. 1 min per question, can't go back. Class avg is B+/A-. the class isn't hard just a lot of reading. Charlotte is very sweet tho. I have a 76 rn with the exam left.
This woman is so amazing. She talks to the class like we are her own children. 4 quizzes, midterm, exam and concept map. Love her so much.
She excels at distilling a very dense subject and tailoring the course to support student success. With plenty of learning tips and a passion for the subject matter, it's a treat to attend her lectures. Lectures move fast so recommend reviewing slides in advance. Highly recommend!
Slides are incredibly heavy, but it's the only material she will test you on. Do yourself a favour and use a flashcard program to study. I used Anki and had a little over 100 (comprehensive) cards by the end of the course. Only reason I was able to get an A+.
Theprofessor is very friendly. She encourages and motivates students to achieve success.
Genuinely a great professor. Very passionate and encouraging. Her lectures are definitely heavy and can sometimes be difficult to keep up but she somehow makes it very interesting!! The class is not extremely difficult but you will be spending a good amount of time studying if you want a decent grade.
I love her so much she is the best professor I have had so far.
Amazing teacher! She is quite refreshing as an anatomy professor where she realistically does not expect you to memorize every single name of every part of your body, and condenses the content into the most important points. She also incorporated clinical relevance into the content to help with comprehension. Tough course, but great professor.
Was my biology prof for my first year and the course load is heavy as expected since it is bio but she explained everything really nicely! go to the lectures as they will help you a ton in understading content but as long as you study and keep up, exams and quizzes are easy.
She doesn't explain information clearly, not to mention her exams are never topics she said they will be on. That says a lot about what kind of teacher she is.
Run . 0/10
This is definitely my favorite so far. The content is straightforward, objectives are clear. Some think it is hard, my suggestion is to learn more and put more efforts on it because this is a science course. There is no shortcut but trying to understand the concept, the connection and the mechanism. The professor really wants everyone to succeed.
I really enjoyed both anatomy classes taken with this professor. She taught in a way that made learning easy and understandable, it quickly became my favourite courses!
Expects too much from students and gives alot of information at once
I can't imagine an even more difficult and judgmental professor then this one. Her exams aren't reasonable, especially for a first-year course. She doesn't follow the outline for the exam and then is shocked that the class average is low. SHE EXPECTS TOO MUCH!
She's kind and truly wants her students to understand the content, but due to the course it self being very information heavy it's basically impossible to learn during the class or even be able to follow along. Test questions are exactly what's on the slides. If you study them- you'll be set.
Very enthusiastic and passionate professor. Quizzes are easy if you keep up to the content, the assignment is a free giveaway, and the tests are ok. Be as passionate to biology as her, then if should be easy and fun.
Shes very inspirational and engaging. She always tells the class that its okay to not always get a good grade and to just try your best. The lectures are long especially near the end of the semester. Make sure to review all the required lectures for the quizzes and mid-term, the questions are all based on them and are not worded that differently.
She is inspirational and she always tries to relate with her students making her pretty likable. Her lectures are content heavy but she gives enough time and resources for her student to absorb it as much as possible. She is a great professor and I would take her class again if I can.
Very heavy course, but Professor Charlotte makes it manageable. It is a hard course because the content is dense, hence the rating, but she is very sweet and encourages us to do our best. Tests are very easy and straightforward and provide a concept map project to boost our marks. Amazing prof for the first year!
She is AMAZING! This is the best professor ever. She is always excited to teach and genuinely interesting. Professor Youngson is so helpful and incredible at explaining difficult processes or topics. She is always willing to help students out and her enthusiasm for the content is contagious! I hope I have her as my professor again in the future.
Great teacher.
Best professor for anatomy. Her slides are really reliable and her tests, exams and assignments are all really straight forward. As long as you put in the work, you'll do great.
Anatomy is a very content-heavy and difficult class- but Charlotte makes it manageable! She goes out of her way to only cover topics relevant to our program which I appreciated so much. Her slides are organized nicely, the tests are straightforward, and she doesn't expect you to know more than what's on the slides. Professor of the year!!
im taking cblg 101 with her so far she is the nicest prof ever! she literally sees her students as actual people and shes very engaging. shes not boring at all and her powerpoints are organized and she tells us what to study and etc. great teacher for teaching a course thats already pretty difficult. 100% recommend her!
Professor Youngson is a passionate and knowledgeable instructor. Her lectures can be dense, but she makes the content engaging and provides great study tips. The exams are straightforward, but time-pressured. unstuckstudy was a helpful resource for preparing.
Dr. Youngson is BY FAR the best professor I have ever had. I've taken anatomy in the past, and everything felt so complicated. I found myself trying to memorize just to get by. But with Dr. Youngson I actually feel that I fully grasp all the concepts and I am always SO interested in her lectures! I wish everyone could have her as an educator.
She is an amazing person and prof who wants the best for her students. You just need to put as much effort into your learning as she does (I didn't).
She's brilliant. Her questions are normally based off of comprehension and memorization, so what helped me was studying using the methods I usually would in addition to attending lectures. Lectures are helpful because she also teaches using diagrams that if you understand, help immensely. I had a lot of fun as her student. :) she's approachable
omg where do i start, this prof is amazing. her midterm and exam is super easy as long as you attend class and listen to her she will clearly outline what you need to know for the exams/midterms. There is reading but honestly you can get off without them. So far the best prof i've ever had for summer school.
I loveee her!! She is one of the sweetest profs and she makes anatomy so easy to understand even though its a very content heavy course.
Professor Younson was lovely; all she wanted was for her students to succeed. She gave the best advice when it came to studying and how to study. Her exams and quizzes were very manageable, as long as you understand the idea, you can answer any of her questions. Prof. Youngson is very passionate about what she does, and you can see it.
She's a great prof and good at teaching as well, if u listen to her lectures you actually learn a lot
She is amazing at explaining things, just make sure you attend class and you dont have to do the readings unless you want to understand better
To be honest, the only professor at TMU I would take again.
Charlotte is a very nice and approachable prof and her study tips do help a lot! I may have gotten a higher grade if I was able to remain consistent doing her mind maps every week but other nursing courses swamped me a bit. Nonetheless, if you show up in class you'll definitely do good in the quizzes and final exam
super kind. cares about students and wants the best for us. is it a very content heavy course but as long as you spend time to read the slides then you will be fine! she also does use the practice exam questions on her actual final, so be sure to do all the practice material she puts out.
