No class schedule. Multiple assignments are thrown at you out of the blue. Can't answer a question properly for the life of him. He doesn't give assignment sheets, so you have no idea what he wants. Didn't give a single lecture, just talked about himself. Grades you on online hours, but there are no online assignments.
Don't take his class if you actually care about public speaking. Barely got through the speeches assigned because he spent 95% of the class talking about himself. Gives good feedback on speeches but you get an A for doing the assignment because there wasn't a rubric. Claims online homework is mandatory yet there aren't assignments to do. Easy A.
Never gave a single lecture, both Midterm/Final tests asked for concepts from lectures. Talked about himself, and never gave a single assignment until around finals week, multiple essays/projects got thrown at us. Told us "base our work off what already exists". Changed our groups project 4 times, including on the last class. Not an actual class.
Engaging and dynamic class learned a lot Ché is a seasoned educator who worked at multiple California State Universities and Community Colleges He lectures beyond communication and provides valuable insights
Fun class took for GE would definitely recommend!!!
Exciting and insightful course, the teacher seems to make Communication applicable to different perspectives and majors. He listens to individual students concerns and needs.
Che tends to talk a very lot during the lectures, but his personality makes up for it. Any communications class is an easy A, but as long as you show improvement it's an easy A. FYI midterm and final are "take it home"
Attendance is mandatory, he's flexible 2-3 excused absences anything more you fail. I've taken Che for two classes, the first class he lectured a lot and we had group work, the second class he lectured less provided more structure more discussions and straightforward expectations. Huge improvement, I would highly recommend Che, he's dedicated.
I love Che and would take him 1000 more times if I could. When he teaches you can really tell that he is passionate about what he teaches and his job. He is really invested in his job and his students.
Che is such an amazing teacher. He is super thoughtful, caring and tried his best to make the classroom environment fun and comfortable for everyone. You can tell he really cares about all his students and wants them to achieve great things. He does not pick you out to speak but you can sometimes tell when he wants you to. Overall AMAZING!!!
Prof Meneses is extremely caring towards her students! Take him and you'll learn how amazing he is. Attend lectures. Study the PowerPoint slides to do well on assignments and exams enjoy the class, he makes it fun!
Che's public speaking class was more of an experience than a college course. He is dedicated to communication and my classmates made the class so much fun. I am not a nervous person when it comes to public speaking, but if you are he will help you overcome it. The lectures and tests are easy, and he ACTUALLY HELPS YOU LEARN
A must take teacher at Foothill. He goes out of his way to customize lesson plans and approach students with understanding compassion and motivation. Looking forward to taking another class with him in the future!
I cannot recommend him enough if you are majoring in Communication. Che is the most involved and motivating Professor I have had. His feedback is invaluable. I am going to be much more successful because of this class. Put in the work and you will get a lot back.
Does not pay attention to presentations presented by students, acts as he does. The assignment files are from old terms and are not updated.
I rate professors on the gems of wisdom they impart on students, long after the class is over. Che seamlessly connects course content with real life along with supporting and caring about students. Some may complain about strictness about structure but he customizes the experience individually and I really appreciate that!
He is a great guy and a great teacher. I had him for COMM 1A and it went smoothly. Reading, participation and effort required. But he's a really good and caring teacher. He makes lectures interesting and from someone who despises public speaking he really made me enjoy the subject and process. Highly recommend!
Most of your grade comes from the speeches and exams, 20% participation. Meneses each exam at beginning of quarter, which really helps since the tests are based on the chapters. Very supportive and informative
He talks himself in circles all the time. Extremely repetitive of material and asks the same questions over and over. If you provide and example from your life, he will ask the specifics of the situation. I'd advise to not take his class unless you desperately need the credits. If you're going to learn, chances are you won't.
Che is an awesome professor, this class was the least class I stressed in all quarter! Che is very personable and helpful. 3 presentations and two exams which are learning focused! I enjoyed his class very much. Could not recommend more!!!
He's super cool and a chill professor. Awesome, caring and passionate Teacher, who makes speeches in front of people fun! Class Activities are fun! Professor Meneses uniquely relates to students, super approachable.
Che is one of the most genuine professors you'll get during college. Lectures are entertaining. He has a lot of insight on life in general and I never was upset spending time going his lectures / classes. An absolutely incredible person and you would honestly be missing out of you don't get the chance to 'collaborate' in his classes!
One of the worst teachers I have ever had at Foothill College. Be prepared for nothing to be graded until the week before the final exam. On top of that be careful when he tells you only one person on your team needs to submit something. It's a lie. Everyone needs to submit a copy. You miss it? You get a zero. This entire class was a waste of time
He was caring and inspirational but didnt make use of class time and required half the class to do the debates outside of class. I had him for COMM1A and 1B at the same time and both were running behind schedule. I learned many valuable things but was frustrated at the lack of authority in delegating assignments, class structure and clarity.
His classroom is fine, but he will not take your feedback seriously. Your homework is all your grade in this class, and you should not waste too much of your time on the speech prep. Its not a hard class, but you will regret if you did not take it online.
An absolutely incredible teacher and you would honestly be missing out of you don't get the chance to have him! Che always makes his lectures interesting and engaging and will have you dying of laughter each class. Thank goodness we still have teachers like him who make school enjoyable! Take him purely to say you had the experience.
Prof Che is one of a kind. He's a bit out there, but really understands student needs and concerns. COMM 1B argumentation and persuasion requires to pairing up with partner and debating on an issue. He has pop quizzes on readings. But definitely worthwhile, you'll be more empathetic.
Nice guy, good lectures, easy workload, but the least organized professor I've ever had. Regularly 1-2 weeks behind schedule, assignments are graded 3-4 weeks after they're due, and picking debate topics/teams is a mess because he lets anyone switch topics whenever, even if it screws over an group. If you can handle it, take him - if not, don't.
Excellent class with assignments that add specifically add value and uniqueness to your LinkedIn. Strongly recommend!
He doesn't pay close attention to his students and is, ironically, so hard to get in touch with and talk to. I would not recommend this prof. because he remained unprofessional, unorganized and difficult to get information from. It would be best to take it from a different professor if possible.
Professor Che is very involved in his work, but quite unclear with how he wants our work completed. It was very confusing and assignments kept getting pushed back. He rambles on a lot and digresses into random topics and drags it on for too long. Just participate in class/online as much as you can and show effort and you will get an easy A.
I think Che M. is funny. However, he was too busy talking about himself to let us do our in-class debate (video chat is not the same). The homework is convoluted (unclear) and big surprise! Your grade is a total mystery until the very end of the quarter. If you think this class is easy and organized, you're in for a real treat.
I don't recommend him because he is very unorganized not only on discussion/quiz/exam questions, also due dates, even though he is an easy grader. It is hard to understand and follow the instructions and when I sent an email for help he never replies.
Professor Ché truly cares about students as people. His methods are unorthodox but this is a strength and makes the class an enjoyable experience
Che is admittedly disorganized and publicly open about being a novice online teacher. Though, he cares about every individual student enrolled and makes himself available to help beyond communication 1b, highly highly recommend
Amazing approach to presenting communication. Mr. Menses is an inspirational, insightful and charismatic person! He offers extra credit and roots for all student success.
Funny (and stylish) professor with interesting lectures, just awesome! I have nothing but good things to say about him. Professor che is SUPER helpful, realistic with course material and relatable to students. The class focuses on Student Learning Outcomes, Course Skills and how to apply them academically and professionally. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Hands down, my favorite professor last quarter, maybe even the WHOLE YEAR. Dynamic and engaging lectures, he has a way of always keeping the class thinking about current topics specific to the Learning Outcomes and Skills of the class. Participation rewarded so make sure to attend all lectures. Very easy A, and he's super funny
His online class is very disorganized and very hard to follow. Its hard to reach him and he always blames it on having multiple students.
Everything looks disorganized. He told us one book is needed at the beginning of the quarter and turns out using content from four textbooks later in the homework. The funniest thing is, he changed his assignment on the due date, and ask us to resubmit the work in 4 hours. The new work he assigned is actually something he already assigned once. XD
This class was probably the most stressful class Ive ever been in, assignments were extremely hard to find and the grading criteria was unclear. Attending class (although not mandatory) is the only way to keep in contact with the professor because getting a hold of him outside of class is extremely difficult. Not sure if I learned any comm skills.
Professor is extremely disorganized and unclear. There are too many things due every week, assignments are unclear, he won't answer questions in Pronto and says to email him,but then won't answer email in a timely manner. We've spent three class sessions introducing ourselves (again!) on zoom instead of professor lecturing. Grades hard.
In the 2 classes, I have taken, his assignments are always confusing and there are frequently multiple rubrics for the same assignment. He has put student's grades up for all to see during zooms. He is barely accessible by email but refuses to use pronto. When every single student had the same question, he asked us all to email him individually.
Never have I had a harder time trying to get through a course than this class. Does not reply to emails with time, refuses to use pronto, copy and pastes material from different courses onto nearly all assignments so they are not clear or accurate, extremely harsh grader with no feedback to explain. I felt no support during this online course.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!
Under no circumstance should you take this professor. So much work and he is extremely disorganized and confusing.
DO NOT EVER TAKE THIS PROFOSSER!!!! Harsh grader that is IMPOSSIBLE to reach. The class is also completely disorganized and unclear. Worst Professor I have EVER taken.
this guy sucks
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
This is the worst professor I have ever taken in all my years in school. He is so confusing and disorganized, and he even admitted that himself but didn't do anything about it. He assigns so much useless homework as well.
Whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFOSSER!!! He is completely unorganized and makes zero time to meet with students outside of class. I would rate him a zero if I could!!! Whatever you do for you're sanity DONT TAKE HIM!!! Find another professor who actually cares about his students and class. Grades extremely hard and gives no feedback or help.
He is not specific with the subjects of assignments which leaves most students confused and is very difficult to get in contact with.
This guy is horrible. For most of my classes at foothill I have looked forward to going to class. Its the exact opposite with this guy. He doesnt teach and his classes are boring. He also doesnt respond to email at all. He hasnt responded to me in weeks and has 600 pending emails in his inbox. Don't take him even if he's the only guy available
I don't recommend this guy to anyone. At the beginning of the class, the subjects in the class actually looked entertaining and I wanted to learn. But once he started teaching, he didn't even teach anything and made everything boring. He ruined this topic for me. He assigns too much confusing and overly complicated hw as well.
A horrible teacher. He is adding topics to the class that is not under the actual topic of the class. The due dates are always changing as well and they don't align with the other assignments. He adds in new homework assignments randomly as well. Instead of knowing exactly what has to be done, curveballs are thrown in last minute. He doesn't care.
This guy is worse than a 0/10. He literally doesn't care at all about his students. He never responds on canvas or to his emails either. He also adds assignments outside of the curriculum, including one that was due a month after the class ended. He's horrendous.
This class was so disorganized and confusing. The professor said we could get by without the textbook at the start of the class but I'd definitely recommend buying it because a lot of the assignments referenced it specifically. There was a ton of extra credit available, but the directions on assignments were usually really unclear.
Professor Che is one of the most dynamic I teachers, in my college experience. He has so much information about fundamentals and is a great instructor for learning the basics. The class explores and discovers Communication theory it can be stressful at times, it helps with retention of the information. 10/10 recommend!
Rarely do teachers care more about his students, than Mr. Che He is very easy to communicate with and is very understanding if you have questions or need extra help. Due to COVID he is new to online teaching and is transparent, honest and fair about this huge transition. Take his class you WILL learn and not regret registering!!!
I had him when COVID-19 started the academic year and Foothill went fully online. This is BY FAR the greatest COMM professor I have ever had. He is understanding of student anxieties, practices equitable grading and encourages all students to learn. A+ teacher all the way, strongly recommend!!!
Fantastic class. If you are intimidated by Interpersonal Communication, you should not be with Prof. Ché. He creates a safe learning environment, is helpful, nice, handsome, humorous, and full of energy. I have nothing to complain about him. He has an open mind, accepts other's opinions and encourages everyone to be themself.
Che is a nice guy but a horrendous teacher. He's vague with directions because he doesn't know what he's doing and is a harsh grader on certain assignments. He's rarely available outside of class and when you talk to him he just answers one question for like an hour. He never gives clear answers and goes back on his word. He makes me feel stressed.
Nice guy but truly the worst teacher i think i've ever had? The class had 0 structure and the assignments would show up sporadically with very poor instructions. The grading was inconsistent and frequently made no sense i very much wish i had never taken this course it is the top 5 most frusterating expiriences i have had in my college expirience.
For the love of anything that is holy do not take this professor insane amount of homework with no clear directions on how to do it. He has no direction in which way the course is going he is just assigning work to assign it. HE NEVER REPLIES TO HIS EMAILS DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
I love Professor Che! He is the best, most relatable professor I have ever had. He acts as a friend to everyone in the class and genuinely wants every person to grow as a speaker. The teacher makes the class laugh daily and delivers content and criteria in the most clear, concrete way. Definitely recommend!!!
Professor Ché is by far my favorite professor at Foothill. He communicates expectations and is helpful and encouraging. As long as you demonstrate what you are learning and put effort into the assignments), you should get an A or B. Relax, prepare to learn int and have fun! Take the class, especially if you care about learning!
Professor Che was the best professor I have had in my college experience. He has so much information about fundamentals and is a great instructor for learning the basics. The class introduces you into what mass communication really is and while his class can be stressful at times, it helps with retention of the information. highly recommend!
Pretty straightforward and manageable course there are only a few assignments per week. There are step-by-step instructions for assignments, assessments and students were given. The professor was also kind and responsive to questions/concerns. Highly recommend! Great teacher! Would take his class 100 times if I could!
Professor Che is super helpful. Hes ready to help out with a question and never leaves you to "figure it out". His lectures cover the material needed for the projects, the projects are all relevant and help you understand the information. I would definitely recommend taking his class!
Absolute gem of a teacher, you will learn A LOT about Public Speaking, Speech Writing and Research the lectures and videos are so helpful that you don't ever feel lost. He is always quick to answer questions. Our class went well since Prof. Che wanted us to learn and minimize the busy work found in most classes. Highly Recommend!!!!
BEST professor I have had at Foothill. His instruction is clear, he provides entertaining and insightful examples making the projects fun! He helps improve your academic career with advice regarding specific critical thinking and communication skills. I am an improved student for completing this course. Take the class you won't regret it! :)
Class has no consistency and structure whatsoever. - Canvas lacks an assignments tab so you have to look at every single module to check their due dates. -Requires lots of participation and zoom breakout rooms - Discussion, metacommunicative reflection assignment, group presentation assignment, skill papers essay assignment due all in a week
Che is a nice guy but a bad professor. Gives no clear instructions, goes back and forward on course content, uses unrelated topics and unnecessary complex names for instructions, assignments are repeated and hidden on the modules, hard work for nothing, I didn't learn many strategies for public speaking,I truly don't recommend taking his class
Best teacher I have ever taken! Meneses is compassionate nice and helpful. Feel like you're not doing well, swing by office hours. Exams are straightforward. I so wish I could take him again. You will learn valuable skills for entry-level employment and university transfer.
Hes a super tight teacher. Really cares about teaching, keeps you engaged in the lecture/discussion. Hes a funny guy and its a really cool class. Anybody that is interested in communication and relationships should love it. Non-communication interested people are welcome also. :) Just take the class, its tight.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!! He is the BEST, hands down!!!! He will inspire you to be a better student. He is hilarious and engaging. He is a truly unforgettable Professor who is unrelenting at ensuring student success. He teaches you how to think like a Public Speaker - Speech Writer and not a "robot." You can thank me later.
Prof Che will go out of his way to ensure you are understanding material and getting enough practice with skills and learning objectives. He is funny, caring and supports growth your critical thinking. Knowing the Linear Model of COMM is super important. Wish I could take all classes with him. Put in the work and he will go above and beyond for you
Meneses is one of the best teachers he really cares about individual students and goes above and beyond for them. He also makes class super interesting and funny which I loved. I never looked forward to going to a class so much before. His passion for Communication rubs off on you and makes you want to always do your best!
Amazing class take it, loved the course, GE credit, plus he knows how to teach! Highly entertaining lectures off-topic occasionally some students will need to learn / read the textbook outside of class thought the material is easy, fun and useful.
He has an unclear way of teaching. He would give us a ton of repetitive assignments and grade them each different even when we did the assignment the same? he was not consistent in any way about the class. there is no assignments tab so you need to look up through modules . If you need a very communicative professor he is not for you .
This professor teaches this course well, by ensure each student is seen and validated for who they are as people. Additionally, students are encouraged to make deep and meaningful connections between their career, academic and personal goals with material from the lectures and textbook. This was a very useful, practice and meaningful class!
Took his class over the summer. Such a passionate, knowledgeable and caring person. The assessments and assignments and presentations are not busy work, but instead apply principles of neuroscience to get the best ideas and critical thinking out of each student. Super fun and informative class, definitely recommend!
I learned a lot about communication, HOWEVER, I had to learn it ON MY OWN. His canvas set up is confusing and hard to find anything. His lectures tend to get off topic because he rambles and likes to stroke his own ego. Yeah he's funny, I guess, but not quite professional. Only apply for this professor, if it's your last option.
By far the most energetic and dedicated professor. Professor Meneses is super invested in students and teaches in a style and structure that is easy to follow and understand. He creates an environment that promotes learning, fairness and safety. Read the book, focus on learning and developing skills and you will be in for an amazing experience!!
Che is a good professor however, his assignments are unclear.
Try not to take this guy. Spent a good few minutes the other day talking trash about newer generations and then tells us not to take up valuable class time. Rarely says anything of value during our lectures and mostly just rants about himself. Really hard to take what he teaches about communication seriously when he is so poor at it himself.
Never had a professor who cared so much. Prof. Che is highly compassionate and engaging, he puts in time and effort into lessons and activities. I learned a lot in the asynchronous debate class.
This professor was way harder on grading than he seemed at first. The first month of assignments were very linient for grading. Then for the first library research project the quality expectations were way higher than what was convayed. The difficulty spike comes without warning it may wipe you out completely with 1 grade. Beware of this professor.
5/5 stars, Professor Meneses is a smart guy who wants you to really learn, there is a few group projects, a few presentations, and not too much reading; if you do the work you will pass the class! I recommend taking this class
Easily the most energetic and dedicated professor I have come across. Professor Meneses is heavily invested in your academic success. if you participate and do the assignments you will pass. Professor Meneses also creates a safe environment for those who are shy when it comes to public speaking.
Best professor I have ever encountered throughout my education. Che really cares about his students wellbeing and academic success. I loved taking his courses as it made me happy to attend his classes (took both Public speaking and Interpersonal Communication). Che is a good guy and educator who wants you to succeed, only advice is do the work.
Really good teacher. The professor created a judgement free class that made it easy to excel. If you want to get better at public speaking take this class!!
I took this course in my first quarter (2020) and was glad to have a welcoming professor, but his Canvas site was so unclear I often had to reach out to clarify what we were supposed to be doing. He would respond quickly, but only to resend the original assignment (often slightly different than the posted one?). Very frustrating.
Took this professor over the summer, his class is decently easy just involves some effort.
Assignments can be unclear at times, but communication is always open with the prof and the fact the professor gives you until the last week to complete assignments makes up anything you struggled with.
The lectures in this class consisted of him talking about his personal life, repeating the same concepts, and trying his stand-up comedy bits. It took him three weeks to finish introductions and 6 weeks to finally input some grades into canvas. For a communications professor, Im shocked at how bad he is at communicating. Dont take this class
Relatively easy class, only complaint is the workload can be dense at times. I would take this class again if I could since you actually learn quite a bit when it comes to mastering communication.
Ironically, the communication is very poor. Online modules are confusing, wordy, full of errors. Assignment descriptions should be condensed so students can follow along. Asking questions via email does not help as he is unreachable as the quarter progresses. Even students who work hard to follow what is going on in the class will be confused.
Hasn't responded to any of my emails in over a month. Assignments are repetitive and poorly organized. A mess of a class.
Work can be difficult at time, but you actually learn some useful skills.
Although I did not receive the grade I thought I deserved in his class, I've never learned so much about myself and the way humans communicate, in one quarter. Che hilariously shares his passport of experiences in every class and makes sessions fun, packed with insight and learning. Take a class with him simply for the joy it brings!
he is wild when comes grading. other times very strict giving out zeros for a single mistake other times he doesn't read at all, I accidentally turned in midterm assignment for the final and he gave me a 100%. confusing on all levels and doesn't responses to email.
Meneses is the BEST COMM professor. The teacher frowns on fluff and only expects students to know important lifelong career, professional and personal skills. He really cares about students and wants to see them to succeed to the fullest. Register for the class, engage and learn amazing stuff. Easy peasy lemon squeezy fo sheezy.
The class is fun and he always finds a way to make students come first! MUST TAKE!! Professor Meneses is unbelievable, one of the most influential teachers at Foothill. He makes class fun by showing a lot of vivid examples and is always willing to answer any questions from students. I hope to take his other classes too!
This class has by far been one of the most confusing (I'm currently taking it too). His assignments have been so confusing, they make no sense. This class also has so much busy work, it's is annoying. He also goes on a lot of tangents during zoom class, making it go over scheduled time, and takes forever to let you present. Take a different prof.
He means well, but I could not stand his class. He repeats himself several times throughout one lecture, and will repeat it all over again in the next, the one after that, and so on. There is no structure in the class and is so confusing with no clear direction. It's an easy A, but would not take it again in a million years.
Overall, he is genuinely engaged with the material and wants his students to succeed. However, the structure of the class...is a complete mess. Re-reading assignment instructions because it's never clear and straight up confusing. When he refers to certain assignments, the assignment doesn't even exist. Links didn't work. Lots of busy work.
The professor's communication could use some work, but the class content is valuable. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for preparing assignments. Not the easiest, but worth taking.
For a communications professor his communication is horrible. Gives a 0 on assignments if its missing one thing instead of partial credit. wouldnt recommend him. his online class has no proper structure its all over the place. you will go through the whole quarter confused and he doesnt get back on time. very late
such a bad professor, none of his instructions make sense, he teaches communications but can't communicate, doesn't respond to messages. DO NOT TAKE
Do not recommend this professor. Nothing he posts is clear and to the point. He makes videos to help navigate the wordiness on his assignments but they do not help much. The workload is heavy on top of not being organized, clear, and concise.
for the first 6 weeks this class was very confusing. Assignments on canvas seemed over complicated. However, after going to class for 6 weeks you will find out he is incredibly lenient with grading. Accepts late work for full credit up until the last day of class. Gives 135 points of extra credit. The assignments are not as complicated as they seem
Not responsive to emails, not helpful verbally either, and overall disorganized. Instructions are overly long and confusing. Knows communication but doesn't model efficient or effective use of language. Lectures are entertaining but unhelpful; learning is mostly self-directed, as in-class teaching is minimal. Not strict with syllabus policies.
Professor Meneses talks a lot, instructions aren't super clear, grading criteria may be unclear BUT if you want the easiest Comms class and pass with an A then take him. He is super chill and not serious at all. He is the lightest grader, just have your assignments submitted and you will pass with the easiest A ever.
Worst professor ever. The instructions are buried in a sea of other crap that you need to decipher. For a "communications" professor, he's the worst communicator I've ever met. Everything about the class is confusing, poorly organized, and a mess. Do not take his class. Due dates are buried in stuff and not reflected properly on canvas.
He grades pretty easily, but just save yourself the frustration. He never replies to emails or reads them. He lacks proper listening skills, and his instructions are all over the place, yet he doesn't care to explain them. Barely updates grades and has confusing communication issues.
The modules are disorganized and instructions can be unclear. However, he is a really easy grader and you will easily get an A if you put in any effort whatsoever.
Easy class. If you are good at managing your work, then this class is for you. Some of the work posted don't really match up with the presentations (which are online), but its still pretty easy to catch up. He still gives you full points if you are late, or you need to re-submit because of an error. He even gives extra credit.
