Horrible teacher. You have to teach your self. I am pretty good at math and he was confusing me. He was wrong all the time and the students had to correct him. His accent his hard to understand at first but then you get use to it.
Very nice teacher. Hard to understand at first but you get used to it. Quizzes are online and tests are short and easy.
This professor is very nice . He is very helpful. I suck at math bad prior to him I had taken this class twice I really thought I would never get out. But in all honesty he may have an accent n I understood him and got him.He gives out the study guide before the test n also goes over it prior to taking the test. He is not hard he is very helpful.
He is a very good professor. Attendance is not mandatory is up to you . He is helpful. Gives extra credit . If he was teaching college algebra in the spring I would take him for that but he is teaching it in the fall.if you failed your test you can redo the wrong ones to get a better grade on your test.
This is a wonderful professor. Its hard to understand him but he tries really hard and explains problems as much as you need. You can tell he has a good heart and cares about his students. the course was a piece of cake, def reccomend
Super easy class! I hated math before and now I actually understand math! Prof Acharya does a great job teaching! His tests are a piece of cake if you pay attention and do the study guides! I def recommend this class to anyone struggling math. You will learn a lot in this class.
Really easy and nice teacher. Love him! Class was very enjoyable. Hard to understand his accent at first but you get used to it. Homework and online quizzes are harder than his tests, which he makes very easy if you do his study guide. Most time consuming is the online work which sucks. Also he is really funny.
Great professor! Makes class very easy to follow. Drops the lowest quiz, 4 tests - ALL MULTIPLE CHOICE! HW on mymathlab. It is time consuming, but VERY easy. Got an A in the class! You're gonna gave to put some time into the class and homework, but it is very easy to get an A! Definitely recommend.
Excellent teacher! Very nice, is funny and really helps you learn math. Gives you extra points if you attend all his classes. Hardest part is the online homework and quizzes. Show up for class because he explains how to do things the easy way. Definitely do the study guide for the tests and you'll be all set.
His accent is difficult to understand most of the time, his tests are fairly easy but I have a hard time focusing because of his accent.
Pretty great teacher, funny, and helpful.
Awesome professor! Summer B class was quick, but all quizes are online like 15 questions, and all 3 tests are multiple choice 25 questions. Has a heavy accent, but you do get use to it. Didn't really use the textbook so I just purchase the math labs plus.
excellent professor. I would like to take further classes with him.
His accent is very distracting and he has a hard time explaining things. He is very nice and his class is easy, but I would not take him again or recommend.
a Lot of homework but it is very helpful. ives you as may tries as you need to get the homework right. gives you 3 tries on the quizzes and takes the highest grade and then drops the lowest quiz grade of the semester. his accent is hard to tell at first but you get used to it. also an be funny
This Class is SUPER EASY!if you had good teahers in high school. Is So easy, you get bored since you know everything. Attendance is Mandatory so you must come.He is very creative with his powerpoints, and teach as if you you were a kid. 3 test (you can redo the one you miss on one test), 8 quizzes (drops 3 lowest grades). No need to buy book.
Pro's: class is not mandatory; homework is done online unlimited tries; Quizzes are online 3 tries; total of four in class tests one sheet of notes allowed; offers extra credit; drops lowest two quiz grades: Con's: heavy accent so hard to understand; not very good at explaining anything
Extremely difficult and confusing. He usually never arrives to class on time and is unorganized. Yes the quizzes are helpful because you can retake them three times but he doesn't teach you. I pretty much taught myself and didn't learn or benefit from his class.
You can listen to music while you take a Test :) Just don't switch everytime :) lol His accent wasn't disturbing to me since i got use to it, He is creative with his powerpoints you will be a mouse move. He's teaching was ok if u are good in math this will be a walk in the park, just do your work and you will passes easy, attendance is mandatory.
I don't think that attending the class was too beneficial in this class. Lectures went very slowly. Unfortunately for Cheban, nobody in our class interacted too much along with the lectures (8am class, dead silent). He is a funny guy when you or others are having conversation with him. Better than my previous math professors at Edison.
I havent taken a math class in six years and Acharya made it very easy for me to comprehend. His accent takes a little getting used to.Quiz's are online and he drops the lowest two scores. He says there's no extra credit but he gave it out for classwork and attendance. Tests are multiple choice. Take notes and do the homework! Really easy class!
This Pro does have an accent so a lot people leave but after the first your fine. A lot of pro's have accents, get over it. He actually cares about his students, wants to help. He is a really nice guy. He has 7 quizzes that he has to give us but he drops your 2 lowest grades, there is extra credit, he goes over the test material the class before.
I thought he was a good teacher and I enjoyed the class. He's funny too. I got used to his accent right away and was not a problem. He was very fair and a nice teacher.
This professor is one of the easiest professors I've ever had. You don't need the textbook just look at the power points on canvas. The tests are easy and he gives extra credit. However, he does have an accent. So,it's a little difficult to understand him, but you get used to it after awhile.
I sure learned how tangent line looks like. I even learned how its slope changes when it moves on the curve. In fact, I was watching the tangent line doing that for hours. Once I even saw a flying mouse. Oh yeah, and at some point we did some math too. The class was basically a free A. Cheban is a cool guy and loves tangent lines with passion!
gives 4 test and they either tell you if you pass or not. Homework is 10%, Quizzes are 10%, and then extra credit, class work, participation, and attendance is all 3% of your grade.
Best math professor I've ever had. He does have an accent but so do I, so I'm not gonna judge him for that. He worries about his students and will always be there if you need him. If you show up to class and pay attention, there's no way you can fail this class. I already took 2 courses with him and I'm going to have him again during Summer term.
Great professor, pretty much saved my year in his class, I ended up passing because he helped me with some extra credit and retaking a quiz I hadn't done very good on. Has a lot of homework but very simple and straightforward, there are only 4 tests and a few quizzes but you get plenty of time to do. I took the class online, would recommend 100%!
Overall good professor. Taught very easy methods of solving problems. Does have an accent that u can't understand sometimes, so just pay attention. Gives a lot of extra credit. Don't need to buy the textbook. His tests are very similar to the homework, so make sure you just do your homework!!!
Funny professor. Takes attendance at the end of class. Everything he lectures is on Canvas. Quizzes are all online on MYLabsPLUS. Syllabus is everything in this class! If you do not look at your syllabus, you can easily miss quizzes and forget in-class tests.
Professor Acharya does his best with a tough subject. He responds within a day to any questions or concerns, which is essential to an online class. My only beef with him is that TESTS, MIDTERMS, and EXAMS COUNT AT 70% OF YOUR TOTAL GRADE!
Great guy, heavy (Indian?) accent but I picked it up quickly, he is hilarious or at least I thought so, he gives many chances he let me retake 3 quizes that I missed the deadline on MLP and he curved 3 of the quizes and 1 test and still gives us extra credit with study guides, he will use every single minute of class dont expect to get out early
He is a great professor, just hard to understand sometimes due to his accent. He's kind of funny and the class is really easy
He is from Nepal not India as some have suggested in previous reviews. Prof. Acharya displays a positive teaching attitude. He is eager to help students succeed. I would recommend him. He has an excellent command of the English language. When he does struggle w/ a difficult word pronunciation, he asks students. So learning is reciprocal. ;-)
Took his Statistics class for summer A and it was easy. If you show up to class, take his notes, or even look over the notes he has on canvas, then you'll pass. He gives extra credit, allows a notecard of notes for tests, and allows two notecards for the final. He gives you a pre-test with the answers for each test. NEED TI83 or TI84 CALCULATOR!!!!
He is the worst teacher I've had by far. He's nice but it is pretty hard to follow him in class. He is all over the place and acts like the entire class knows what he is talking about. If you are good at math then take him otherwise stay away. He thinks everything is "very easy" and jumps through everything. I spent a lot of time w tutors to pass.
The worst professor ever. He does not actually teach class, only expects you to understand everything he is talking about. The material being taught is not difficult but the professor makes it difficult because he expects you to learn it yourself. Most I unmotivational professor I've ever taken.
Heavy Indian Accent; extra credit with study guides; he knows what he's teaching and he really does care for his students just don't be afraid to ask questions but he'll take time to explain it! Lectures are on the website so you can miss class and checks attendance at end so we can be late. Ask and he'll do it--class early? YES!
He's an easy grader, posts his lectures online before class, provides extra credit, drops lowest test score (even if final), allows a 4x8 card for each test, downside heave accent and limited English vocabulary making it difficult at times for him to effectively communicate the material, especially if you don't understand.
Very easy to pass, lots of homework and lots of writing problems in class (40 problems at the most). He is very clumsy, which makes him funny. He lets you do test corrections if you ask.
Professor does not help you out. You have to fend for yourself which is absolutely ridiculous when taking an online class. My classmates and I have asked for help and he said to just go look at other students answers. If you're not good with math, don't take this class because he will not help and doesn't care.
Awesome professor. Highly recommend.
Awesome professor, easy lectures, gives extra credit for exams, provides study guides for all tests and finals.
Terrible teacher, he does not care about you or your grade at all. You're completely on your own, if you are not familiar with my labs plus and his expectations about it, good luck. Half of his instructions are not written in proper English, which makes it hard to understand what a lot of his problems are actually asking for. Extensive workload!
Super easy instructor.
Really enjoyed having him as my Prof. Easy going, not a difficult class, and he'll drop your lowest exam score at the end of the semester. Highly recommend. Wish I could take him for College Algebra.
I took in the Summer B term. There is a lot of work for such a short period of time. This Professor has an accent, but if you pay attention you can understand the content of the chapters. Uses final grade on the lowest test score. Must have TI-84, Will not pass without. Prepare for hours of homework.
Has an accent but you get used to it. Once you do he really does know his stuff and tries his hardest to make sure you understand it. Some people can't get past the accent but he gives you every chance to pass. Plenty of homework but this is college. Do your homework, show up for class, he gives extra credit and you will pass.
Makes math easy and understandable.
Do your work, and you will pass. Test can be hard but a lot of questions are multiple choice. Communication is key.
Doesn't provide feedback, also no chance for extra credit. Probably not the best course to take online unless you're a math whiz.
The Professor takes time to ensure you are learning the material in class. I wish he went over a study guide or the quizzes in order to receive a better grade on tests. Instead you have to take the Quizzes 3 times, and after the third you can view the answer. You must figure out how to get that answer on your own if you don't understand.
Professor Acharya is amazing and great teacher. He really makes sure that you understand what he's teaching. He allows you to retake tests if needed and the study guides are the same concept of the tests just using different equations.
Great instructor! Did well in his class but work load can be heavy! Has a thick accent but I understood him without difficulty. Does not hand back tests or explain weekly discussion homework questions as a review. As long as you go to class, get some tutoring, stay on top of your work you should do fine!
I like Professor Acharya! He does have an accent but you get use to it. He is actually funny, sometimes he doesn't mean to be though. He is REAAAALLLLLY thorough on his teaching. Always willing to help and is never mean or belittling. I would definitely take him again. He is an EASY A.
This Professor has a very heavy accent so it sometimes made it difficult to understand but he will do all he can to make sure you understand what he is trying to say. Gives the opportunity to do test corrections to increase test scores, also gave additional opportunity for extra credit if you do practice test and score a certain %.
Professor Acharya is a decent professor. He is pretty passionate about math... Math doesn't come easy for me but I was able to get an A. Pay attention and attend lectures, the pre-quizzes are very similar to tests. Easy enough class, especially if you're already good at Algebra. He does give little extra credit opportunities.
This was an online class and when I did reach out for help he was none. He does not actually teach anything. Videos from the online textbook is how you learn the material. He uses his diagnostic quiz the first day of class as a grade. Basically grades you on something he hasnt taught yet. Can make the difference between an A & B.
His emails are difficult to make any sense. He watches every move on proctorio and will give you a zero if you don't do exactly what he expects. He stated a demo exam was not mandatory (even highlighted it) then proceeded to grade it with the same weight as hw. Also asks that you state your mlp grades in canvas instead of looking at them himself.
Has a great passion for math
He's an okay teacher, he just has a very thick accent and it can be frustrating because you might not know what he said (I understood him just fine but I know some people didn't) The homework is online and for units, it's a lot but if you do them the same day as the classes you'll be fine. He has a good passion for math and is very energetic.
I loved this professor! Yes, he has an accent but he manages to explain the material better than any other professor without an accent. Homework isn't due until the last day of class. The professor also allows you to take your quiz more than ones. you don't need to buy the book, however you do need to buy my labs plus.
I loved this Professor. He very accessible outside the classroom. He cares about if you are learning the material or not. Wonderful person.
He is an extremely smart teacher. He was always so nice and some of the kids would degrade him because of his accent but he was really a good teacher. He also was always willing to work with you. He may come off as tough but he will always give extra credit and extended testing time. He was very pleasant.
Professor Acharya is amazing. He is super caring and wants you to pass. He has an accent, but he always tries his best to make you understand. He also responded very quickly if you have any questions. Some students blamed his accent, but that's just the excuse for not doing the homework. If you finish them, it's an easy A. Highly recommend.
This course is tough. Do not take this course online. This was my downfall. The quizzes versus the actual tests do not compare. The homework is easier than the tests and it is quite confusing. He rarely records himself and you basically have to teach yourself unless you want to constantly email. If you decide to take this course online.. good luck!
basically teaching yourself
Basically teaching yourself. Test are extremely hard a lot of discussions and quizzes. Will fail if you are taking other courses and trying to maintain this one.
He is very caring and understanding, within good reason hell even let you retake tests. Whenever I had a problem we would Zoom immediately and he would walk me through everything. Anyone saying his accent is hard to understand is annoying... we get it you only speak one language. Again super sweet and caring. 100% would take him again!!!!
Great professor, caring, smart, makes math easy and accessible to everyone. Im so glad I took his class and already plan to take a future math class with him.
Very hard to understand, I would sometimes email him and would not answer and ignores. Can come off as rude and ignorant. He seems to try his best but did not help me pass this class or atleast understand the material. Once he goes over something he wont do it again or hell get very mad. Attendance is graded, get ready to do alot of hw!
Hes nice in person but he has a very strong accent and gets mad when you dont understand him. Rarely answers emails and when he does is rude, grammatically incorrect and hard to read. If you struggle with math I would not recommend him.
Teaching yourself math with any online class is hard. However he was so quick to answer emails and accommodate his students. Despite not meeting face to face I genuinely felt a real bond and his quizzes are super easy you will learn hard versions of the equations for homework and then he gives you easy versions on tests. Also gives extra credit!
He is a very nice professor. I enjoyed all of his classes and will definitely take him again for my next math class
Good professor. He provides lots of extra credit opportunities. Even if you think you don't need the points still do the work. Pay attention in class. He basically outlines test questions in class. I am awful at math and I passed this class just fine.
Dont take him for statistics. His recorded lectures are hard to watch (poor penmanship, its not organized he writes all over can be confusing to watch) Majority of his lectures are an hour long when it really could be 15 mins, he doesnt explain things well. 5 hrs of lecture for 1 chapter.
worst worst worst don't take this prof for stats
He was an ok professor. Pretty funny at times, But the work got too hard and complicated. His grade system was downright AWFUL. You could pass the class without doing any of the work, Just the test and get like a 70 was enough for a low b in the class. Fail one of the exams, you fail the class, and there no way to bring it up.
If you're willing to learn on your own, his online class is great. The program explains problems step by step and you can view his lectures for extra help. He responds rather quickly as well. The only thing is that the tests weigh a TON on your grade, otherwise, the material was a breeze and I am really happy I took this class.
The professor has a very thick accent and it can be difficult to understand him. YOU NEED TO SIT IN THE FRONT. He is a very caring professor and will walk you through the problems step by step. He is also very entertaining and will make you laugh. I took him for part 1 and 2 and passed with a C. He gives you plenty of extra credit opportunities.
he has a very strong accent that is easy to understand he just speaks in a lot of run-on sentences so it's hard to keep track of what he is saying. Instead of ending class early, he will just keep repeating himself (nonsense). Doesn't really answer questions just repeats himself. Wouldn't take if you have very low patience.
Excellent professor. Explains everything throughly. Very helpful.
This professor was very helpful. I never had a problem with his accent, he was very easy to understand. I had him for my first college class and he was very helpful. There are 4 exams and two of them are proctored. But he was very helpful and gave you extra credit.
This professor's grading system is very very exam-oriented. The exams are a combined 70% of your grade in this class. If you struggle on just one of the exams there goes the chance of achieving an A. He gives an absurd amount of work as well, averaging around 15 assignments per week and some assignments over 40 questions.
Amazing professor that made sure the concepts were thoroughly explained in his lectures. He made sure that everyone not only understood the math but was able to see its connection. Gives plenty of time to do homework (mylab) and there are open-note online quizzes for every chapter with unlimited attempts. Only chapter tests were in class. 10/10
The prof is not bad his teaching is ok the quizzes and the exam be pissing me off you have the quizzes that you do online and the test you do in class plus final exam. He only gives two extra credit the extra credits are way harder than the quizzes lol. He have a really strong accent pay close attention to what he is doin or you wil fail good lucky
Study for the exam and the test because the study guide he gives don't have sht to do with the exam or the test. Try not to get a low grade on the test or the exam the moment you do you're doomed.
Found that his online lectures and classes were more helpful then the in person meetings, his attendance grade is with the review quizzes for the tests so a low attendance rate doesn't affect the grade too much. Constantly interrupts himself to ask the whole class if this class is too hard. The material is easy if you just do the assignments.
He creates such a welcoming environment for his students and makes sure you comprehend the lessons. Very kind and very easy grader. The late work policy is so convenient (-5 pts each day) and it is impossible to fail. he has a bit of an accent, but very easy to move past.
I really enjoyed his class. He gave multiple tries on some of the exams and the final. He was great about giving extra credit. The only thing I disliked about his class was he didn't use lectures, instead he used youtube videos and khan videos which was a little difficult. Overall the class was great!
He was hard to understand sometimes and class got very boring and hard to play attention to because he would often unnecessarily repeat himself to try to help us understand the content. I performed poorly on one test and my grade dropped for an A to a C and I was never able to pick my grade back up despite my improved performances on later exams.
Ok professor. Extremely strict; makes you buy an external camera and $150 calculator. Assignments are consistent, homework, quiz, and discussion post weekly. He does not unlock the discussion posts until the week of. This is an online course and I think he could work on making the work available earlier to students that like to get ahead. Just ok.
Amazing professor. The class was homework-heavy, and the tests were highly weighted. Paying attention and putting effort into homework and studying makes this class easier. There are also tons of extra credit opportunities to help bump up your grade.
It's known that statistics is not an easy subject. The professor's teaching skills are especially not for someone who has a hard time with math. He does also have a thick accent which of course isn't his fault but it does make it that much harder to understand what he is teaching. I don't recommend this professor if math isn't your strong suit.
This is the 1st time I've felt compelled to create an account to rate a professor. For one, his accent is extremely strong making it hard to understand him. As a result, making it is hard to understand what to do. He also gets a lot of his problems wrong. Goes back & forth until proven wrong by students, then says my bad. Worse math professor!
Most of the work was automatically graded, for the homework was on Pearson, but whenever I emailed I got a very quick response. He would give occasional general updates, but the class helped me learn a lot about math I didn't know. I'd take this class again as long as he's teaching because he was helpful and responsive in a quick/helpful way.
Professor Acharya allows for extra points to be gained at all times. This course was challenging, and one thing that helped me was always talking to the professor and maintaining clear communication and participation in class. The exams are essential, as the Pearson activities. Commit to it, and you will be ok
Professor Cheban is an excellent professor. STAT its not an easy class, but if you keep up with your homework every week you can pass the tests. Most of the work was automatically graded, for the homework was on Pearson, but I got a very quick response whenever I emailed. I'd take this class again as long as he's teaching because he was helpful.
Professor Archarya was an amazing teacher. He genuinely cares about his students, and was very flexible with his assignments, allowing do overs if necessary. He gave a somewhat large volume of homework, but it was manageable. I would highly recommend taking his class.
Nice teacher, 100% recommend. You are an opp if you don't have him.
Professor Acharya can be challenging to understand due to his strong accent, but he's an engaging and caring instructor. The class is homework-heavy, but with Unstuck ai and regular participation, you can do well. Just stay focused and take advantage of extra credit opportunities.
This prof was just annoying, if you are good at math the class will be easy. He grades notes so hard and if you skip one problem, or only fill out one side of a notecard he will give you a 70. Not bad, but didn't like him a lot.
Professor Cheban is an ok teacher. His lecture can be difficult to understand because of his accent. He doesn't always explain the math problem well. Homework and home quizzes aren't hard, but do require studying. He does provide class notes on Canvas. His tests are in person. He is sometimes funny.
Just teaching for a paycheck.
📣📣📣📣📣📣 Save yourself the trouble … -Doesn't teach - LOADS of homework & proctored exams that don't match reviews. -Can't understand his emails - questions thrown into the exams that felt completely irrelevant to math and even brought in political references, which were inappropriate and unprofessional for a math course.
Professor Acharya is an okay teacher for teaching lectures, and the handouts are helpful; however, if you have accommodations, don't take him. He always forgets and tells me to remind him each time. If not told, he forgets. He is also very disorganized when it comes to grading and announcements. He isn't bad at teaching, but grading is an issue.
Good professor, and easy class, but sometimes it felt like he was learning with us. He was caring and laid everything out for us. The review was exactly like the exams. If you studied, the exams were easy. If you're really good at math, this class may feel slow-paced. A lot of homework, but they were easy, and we had a lot of time to complete them.
the ratings make him seem like a terrible prof., but if you can get past the accent he is a great proffessor. Go to his office hours, ask questions and do homework in a timely manner. He will work with you !!!
I took Professor Archarya for a mini-term, which was pretty rigorous, but he explained things in a way that was simple to grasp, even the complex material. I'll be honest, there was a lot of homework and coursework, which could be a lot at times. In the end, it did help, though. He's very straightforward and honest, too, and he can be quite funny.
Very funny guy, the only thing you need to get used to is his accent, other than that, he's great. Moves around through the lecture whenever he wants. Get ready to print out 20 pages of stuff every month, lots of homework. Also states in the syllabus no electronics, but doesn't care if you have your laptop out, taking notes.
Although the class itself was easy, he just made it difficult with his non-stop rambling. He has a heavy accent that makes it very hard to understand him at times, especially when he goes on forever talking. I would not recommend his class because you'll just be confused and will have to teach yourself. Theres alot of homework to.
good professor and relatively easy class, he does good at explaining the material you just have to get used to his accent. makes you print your own packets so its like 10 pages a week. lots of homework and there's 4 tests all proctored
