Easy class, no complaints.

I loved Dr. Leavitt's class! It was a very good way for me to prepare to get married next month! She has an opening social at the beginning that was probably my favorite part of the class, and she has very clear grading criteria, giving you plenty of time to complete assignments. There was a lot to do, but all of the assignments were meaningful.

The structure of the class was very easy to follow and made it so assignments were easy to turn in. Each lecture was very interesting and the material provided outside of each lecture enhanced my learning. I felt that some of the assignments were repetitive and sometimes just busy work. Great class!

Lots of content to slog through. Most of it is really helpful, but a good amount of busywork too that could be removed.

Dr Leavitt was awesome! I took this class with my fiance and we learned a lot leading up to our wedding. It's also a great class for anyone wanting to learn more about themselves and their relationships with others. I would recommend this class to anyone, single, dating, or engaged.

This class was amazing! I learned so much about a relationship but also things to make me a better individual. I recommend taking this class whether you are in a relationship or not. I was not in a relationship when I started the class but ended up meeting my future husband because of an assignment! The best class!!!

You get what you put into this class. If you want to go super hard and complete everything then you will have a great experience. The class is hard because it requires you to really self-reflect, but the content of the course is not difficult. Tests are great as long as you study what the TAs advise you to.

This class was great, I did learn a lot, but there are some longer projects and assignments that weren't my favorite. The lectures were great though and you will learn a lot!

Dr. Leavitt is awesome! She's super passionate about what she teaches and it shows! The big assignments were straightforward and they were all designed to be directly applicable to your life and creating good relationships and becoming a good person. The TAs for this course were awesome as well, and the criteria for the assignments was very clear.

Professor Leavitt focuses a lot on meditation and mindfulness in marriage. Topics are presented in a tasteful way that leads to learning and personal growth.

I took online Marriage Prep with her and I loved it! The class is set up very clearly and everything in the class is just designed to help you grow, so you'll get out however much you put in. The only kind of hard thing is the exams, it's just a lot to remember but not bad if you study! Very highly recommend for literally everyone.

She is fantastic, and I loved the lectures. Homework is very simple and straightforward. She is very organized. Tests are simple, but over half of the questions are short responses, which can take a long time. There are a couple of papers/projects, but they are mostly very easy. It is worth it to take this class, I highly recommend it!

I took SFL 223 online from Dr. Leavitt, and I have to say that I really enjoyed it! There was definitely more homework for this class than I expected, but none of it is hard to do as long as you stay on top of it and read the instructions well in advance. Her lectures are super awesome though, and I feel like I gained a lot of valuable insight.

She is a great professor and cares about what she teaches, and you can tell. The course was fun to take, and she made it very interesting, I definitely came out with another perspective than I went in with.

Dr. Leavitt is amazing!! I added an SFL minor because I loved her class so much. If you are getting married, this class is for you! The tests don't have a study guide, but if you watch the review lecture and take notes, you should be fine. The other assignments seem like a lot, but if you keep up on your work, you should be fine. 10/10 recommend.

I love Chelom! This is the second class I've taken from her and I wish I could take more! Marriage Prep Online was a great interlude into my near future and I enjoyed the layout. If you're looking for a fun elective, pick this!

Fairly easy, test are long. Prepare to take long tests, approximately 2hrs. Long, just watch the videos and you will get a good grade on the exam, lots of busy work so be on top of that

She teaches this class in a very active learner way. You do have papers and reading to do but that's typical for any BYU SFL class. She wants you to really experience a change through this class and I found it very helpful even though I am already married! I would recommend this class to everyone!

The class was quite good. I never bought a textbook for the class and did just fine. The lectures are real good and it is clear she is passionate about the material. I thought I learned a fair bit, and the material definitely was intellectually enlarging. One pro/con of the class is that there is both Dating 101 type stuff & marriage-focused stuff.

This is a marriage & self-development class. It really does make you think about who you are as a person & how you are in relationships. Assignments are really doable & are consistently the same throughout the course. Don't wait until the last minute though. Dr. Leavitt cares about her students and is knowledgeable about the topics.

I took this online during spring semester. It was well balanced and easy to manage the assignments. Everything is due at the end of the week making it possible to have a flexible schedule. A large part of your grade is whether or not you applied what we talked about in class to your relationships. Mostly self-graded assingments and a few essays.

Dr Leavitt is a fantastic teacher and very kind. The content of the class is interesting and applicable to everyday life. The class as a whole was easy. I enjoyed everything I learned, but felt like many of the assignments were just busy work and there is a lot of it. I stayed for the content, but didn't see a point too much of the workload.

The professor is very caring and wants her students to succeed. If you want to get a good grade, just do the assignments, readings, and lectures. The TA's also are helpful. It goes a long with a lot of other SFL courses, so if you know material from those, it helps guide your studying.

I took this class in the spring in the online format, and I loved it! The course was super easy to get through, and you really get out of it what you put into it. There's honestly not that much work - it's mostly little activities with a lot of lecture listening. The tests are closed book but not difficult if you listen to the TA reviews!

Overall I had a good experience in the class. I did feel like it was heavy on the busy work. You have to turn in multiple assignments that require you to do many multiple tasks and it was really hard to keep up with/ remember. The tests are very heavy on memorizing lectures - didn't feel like I learned very much being tested that way.

She's great! There are a lot of readings/videos but online was nice because you could go at your own pace. Exam reviews were super helpful! Just keep up on deadlines for projects and discussions and you'll be fine! Great class, recommend!

I took SFL 223 online and it was my favorite class out of all the classes I took at BYU so far! Professor Leavitt is so kind, and passionate and knows her field so well. Her assignments are clearly structured and actually help you to learn. The exams all had a TA review and were very easy if you took notes during the lectures and were attentive.

Dr. Leavitt is a wonderful researcher! There is a lot of content to read through and great resources she provides. The only assignment I felt was uncomfortable was having to draw naked people juxtapose, then explain gender differences to a friend but the rest of her snazzy success ideas were helpful in building stronger relationships.

This was a class that I learned a lot of beneficial life long principles about families and myself as individual. Just make sure to do all of your homework and stay on track of things, she is pretty good at reminding you too its just up to you!

She is very invested in the students applying what they learn in class to their everyday lives, so there are several projects/journal entries/experiences that you are required to complete. However, they aren't too difficult or too time consuming. Great class!

I took this course online. There are a lot of lecture videos to watch and a lot of textbook reading. You can pass without reading though. We had video-recording discussions every week that counted toward participation. The most complex part is you actually have to know the content because half of the test is short-response questions.

It was a great class. I wish there were better study guides for the test and the review videos would be more helpful if they were more specfic or gave us the anser but I also get that theyre trying to get us to find the answers ourself. It was a great classs everyone should take before or after marriage!

Dr Leavitt is awesome!! She is a really kind and caring professor. There are a decent amount of assignments so if you're looking for something that is just easy, probably don't do this one. But if you're looking to learn a lot and have a lot of fun and you're willing to put in the work, this class is awesome!!

She was awesome! I had some struggles during the term and she helped me out a ton! Super forgiving and caring! We had 3 tests and some medium sized assignments on top of the small discussion posts (by video). I would just recommend staying on top of everything!

Everyone should take this class. Be diligent about studying and get things done before the due dates! Assignments are sometimes long but if you maximize them they can really help you in a way that's applicable to your life! My husband wasn't enrolled but came to class with me and we had so many interesting things to discuss.

This class is amazing. The lectures are full of information, so take good notes, but they're things you'll use after the class, unlike some other college classes. The tests are a little difficult but manageable. The textbook is required, but helpful for when you're done with the class and you want to know how to strengthen your relationship.

Discussion boards each week and some larger assignments throughout the course (super easy). Tests are easy, just go to the reviews.

Despite it being an online course, the professor made her lecture videos interesting and engaging. I learned a lot from her teaching style and the examples she gave us for the curriculum. She provided plenty of resources to help students succeed, such as the test study guides, life tool kits, and journals that helped with the coursework.

Even though I am already married, this class was enjoyable, and almost everything still applied to me. Dr. Leavitt is a great teacher and her TA's were very helpful when it came to grading assignments quick and preparing you for the tests. Dr, Leavitt is an amazing teacher with great content in her courses. I enjoyed this class and would definatly recommend to other students. Be ware of is that most of your final grade is based on the midterms (there are two) and the final, which may not be great for students who struggle to recall and retain information for long periords of time.

I highly recommend this class to anyone! The only downside was that the tests were somewhat challenging, as they consisted mostly of free-response questions, and the TAs were strict graders. While it's a relatively easy course, it still requires a good amount of effort. That said, it's absolutely worth taking!

This professor did a great job for a fully online class. There was a good amount of reading and video watching each week, so be ready for that. The tests weren't too bad and only took about 45 minutes, just watch the TA reviews. Overall, such a great class and I highly recommend taking it for a easy class!

There is a lot of lecture videos and reading, but I always watch them on 2X speed, and it doesn't take as long. If you fill out the exam study guides and study those, you'll do well on the tests. A few assignments that might take some time, but they're not difficult. I learned so much valuable information from this class!

This class is online but Dr. Leavitt did all the videos for the class, and they're amazing! The class is pretty straightforward, with weekly video modules and readings. There are a few semester long projects and three exams but it's all very doable and I learned so much! I would definitely recommend this class.

She is super sweet and is really professional. One thing I will say is that the tests go fine if you legit MEMORIZE the study guide, but the reviews aren't helpful at all because they don't go over anything, they just rephrase the questions on the study guide, and then don't help you find the answers. So those are useless but that's more the TA's.

Dr. Leavitt was great, and I would recommend this class to anyone! The course is organized in a clear way, and the assignments truly help you gain a deeper understanding of how to build and maintain meaningful relationships. I was definitely encouraged to reflect a lot. The tests were mainly free response with a few multiple choice questions.

This class was great. I wish there was an in-person version instead of just online, but I still think it's a great class to actually engage you with the material instead of just reading. You actually reflect and do things! The tests are easy if you actually work and review the material, and test review video. Definitely recommend to anyone.

I love Dr. Leavitt and highly recommend this class regardless of whether you're single, dating, or married! Each week consisted of some readings and lectures with a quiz. Bigger projects included doing activities to get out of our comfort zones, a book report, and creating a tool kit for your marriage. I learned so much! Take her class!

The course material was organized very straightforward. Through the online course, we had to make & reply to other discussion posts, which was kind of unenjoyable busy work. there is a book report based on a book you choose to read through the semester, but I enjoyed doing that. Test material is almost directly taken from the course from what I saw

If you choose to put a lot of effort into this class, you will get a lot out of it. It helped me learn more about myself as a person regardless of marriage. She is an excellent teacher! She teaches in a very caring way and explains things very well. The class had about 3 hours of HW and we had to do quite a few readings and videos, we also recorded videos of ourselves but this allowed me to get to know other students.

This class is very interesting and enlightening. The only thing that made it hard was the tests. You have to remember a lot of very specific information that is mentioned only briefly in the lectures, and you can't use notes while taking the test, so you have to memorize a lot of different stuff. Overall though, it was a great class!

She was very clear and I loved taking her online class! She knew how to teach online, and it was easy to follow along on Canvas.

The course modules guide you through a lot of really interesting and important topics, no matter if you're married or single. I highly recommend this class to anyone considering it! You have a few exams and weekly modules to fill out, with some assignments throughout the semester. This class and professor were great! The first test took me by surprise because I didn't realize how specific it was going to be but besides that, it was a great class and she did a great job at organizing everything.

It was a healthy amount of work each week but completely manageable. Her canvas Course was organized in a very clear way. 2 midterms, one noncumulative final exam, and one book report essay with a couple of very straightforward unit projects that you can work on throughout the unit. If you pace yourself, this is a very manageable class.

I took marriage preparation from Dr. Leavitt and absolutely loved her class! I learned so much not just about marriage but how to have a healthy and strong relationship with anyone around me. There are weekly lectures on canvas and discussions and a few assignments throughout. Overall the course was very manageable and enjoyable.

Dr. Leavitt is such a sweetheart. The class is very simple and if you apply yourself there can be a lot of self growth. Your grade is main the big assignments and the exams, but the study guides are so helpful! Dr. Leavitt was always accommodating and answers emails quickly.

The only thing I can say I struggled with was the tests, which included a good amount of memorization and recalling past lectures. I enjoyed the video discussions; overall, this class was fun, useful, knowledgeable, and very doable!

Honestly, Dr. Leavitt is really knowledgeable and passionate about SFL 223. The reason I didnt do to well was because I was taking really heavy science courses (anatomy and microbiology). Make sure you either set aside time each week to get the homework/lectures done or don't take multiple study/info heavy classes like I did. Dr. Leavitt is awesome

Sister Leavitt is a great instructor. She explains everything very thoroughly. However, I felt that between the lectures, the discussions, the snazzy successes, the toolkits, the book report, and the 3 exams, I spent more time in this class than any other.

I love the way she presents the content in the class, and something else I loved is that she invited us over to her home for an opening and closing social! Because of this and other things, I was able to connect with her, which is surprising since I took the class online. She genuinely cares about people and about the content she teaches.

Dr. Leavitt genuinely cares about her students and helping them learn and grow in her class. This is a very applicable class to everyday life and relationships, and she provides easy steps and ideas to learn and apply what we are learning to our own lives.

The class is very insightful and offers such good advice for becoming your best self and being a good friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, and spouse. I wish this class had less busy work, but otherwise I really enjoyed the course! Chelom is an INCREDIBLE teacher and she really cares for and wants to get to know her students.

Dr. Leavitt is one of my favorite professors I've taken classes from. Her lectures are clear and meaningful. She is great at helping students practice developing the skills she teaches as they're taking the class. She's really helpful too, go chat with her and she is so caring and helpful to talk to.

Professor Leavitt was very inspirational and had engaging lectures, even though they were online. All of the assignments involve personal application of the class content, which is nice. You can tell that she's very passionate about the subject.

I learned so much and would recommend this class to anyone--married, engaged, or single. The assignments were all focused on personal growth and the reviews were super helpful for the exams.
