This class isnt as easy as it seems, but if you attend all the lectures and study its not bad! I studied for 2-3 hours for each exam and got high Bs and low As on all of them. We have lecture Monday and lab Wednesday & Friday (working out). You have 3 assignments and 4 tests. Prof Duncan definitely cares though and is really sweet!
Great professor. Definitely recommend. There is an attendance policy for all KIN 100 classes, dont miss more than 3 days. Only 3 tests throughout the semester, 3 assignments, and no homework. Tests are easy. Assignments are tedious
Duncan is a great teacher and is very clear on criteria. If you put in the work you will get an A.
Great teacher, hitt course has great workouts! You have to come to class in order to pass only 3 skips allowed. 3 tests and several assignments. Tests are hard.
I had the chance to do this class online or in person. We actually had a TA so that's who I primarily reach out to and she responds super fast. Prof Duncan is super nice and cares about your mental health, she sent us a list of like 100 of her favorite movies to watch if we were bored. The tests can be tough but if you study you'll be fine.
I took her HIIT section and loved it! Workouts were intense and fun to do. Assignments were normal for a college level class. She was always available outside of class if you needed extra help. Exams were kind of hard, but as long as you study you'll be fine! Some group work, but in order to get to know classmates. Definitely take her if you can!
Duncan is a sweet, caring professor. We had one synchronous workout each week and it was mandatory. This class was very enjoyable because it allows you to track your progress from the start of the semester to the end of the semester. She really wants you to live a healthier lifestyle and has inspired me to do so. Assignments are fairly easy.
Awesome professor. Duncan was very nice and was always willing to help you whenever you need it. Assignments were very straight forward. She's also a very fair grader. Take good notes in class and show up for workout days, and you should be fine. Tests are pretty straight forward, but you have to study.
With my section, I had a TA run the workouts and did the grading. I would definitely recommend having a relationship with her and your TA. She definitely cares about her students. Her tests, arent easy, once you get the feel of her tests, they arent bad. Youll definitely have to work hard to get an A.
All lectures were on canvas & there was a TA who graded & took over the weekly exercise. Each week you would either post your exercise or had a zoom meeting w/ TA. The tests were pretty easy just make sure you look at the powerpoint & kahoots. The assignments and workouts were due fridays & only 3 tests overall. Dont need textbook!
Great prof who is knowledgable and wants to teach you how to use the information learned outside of class. Not much work: 3 modules with an assignment, discussion, and test for each module. 4 lectures per module, so really light coursework. For class, all we did was workout and meditate. So much easier than health and more helpful in the long run.
I took this totally async and she still tried to get to know us and wanted to make sure we knew she was always there for us. Not too many weekly assignments, and you have multiple weeks to work on larger assignments. 3 exams on lockdown browser, final is not cumulative. I hate exercising and this class was chill.
Very easy Professor. One lecture per week with one assignment and test per module, you honestly won't even see her you will see you're workout instructor more than you will her. But regardless, a great professor.
Chelsea Duncan is really supportive and you can tell she cares about her students despite seeing her once a week. I had 1 async lecture and 1 in-person class per week and still really enjoyed it. Her enthusiasm made the class more fun and overall she didn't assign too much work, if she did she gave plenty of time to do it. Definitely recommend!
Duncan was an overall good professor but she graded incredibly hard. If you did not specify every little thing she took a huge amount of points off. She was especially hard on her students making us feel bad about the challenges we had with Covid. I would think twice about taking Duncan.
Instructor Duncan was a great choice for KIN 100! Though some assignments were lengthy, they really did help reinforce the learned material. The topic was also interesting so it wasn't bad. All tests were also online and no in person workout on exam days which was nice. Would def recommend taking her!
The people complaining clearly didn't pay attention or do the work. there's no 'locked quizzes' there was a pop-listening check that's not announced-duh-she told us to watch the lectures for these. She gives 'how to' videos for the assignments (hand holding). Probably the most accommodating instructor, just do what you're supposed to.
Watched half the lectures and lowered my grade up from not doing listening checks. Would have gotten an A or an A+. A few lengthy assignments, all online exams, and some assignments that take 5 minutes max. People I know are getting C's for missing more than 2 missed classes, so just show up and you should have no problem getting a B or higher.
This is a really easy gen ed and if you are debating whether to take this or health, definitely take KIN. Tests are online, assignments are online. We only had to come in for class once a week and lectures were asynchronous. She does grade a little harder than necessary and the assignments can be time consuming but I have heard worse about health.
The first assignments average grade was an 80% for a very simple assignment but she took off points for such dumb things. During the online lectures, there are graded pop-up questions in which getting 1 wrong could result in a 50% grade on that lecture and she is not willing to compromise if there seem to be 2 right answers.
Super easy gened, that I would take again. Two fifty minute in person classes per week, and about 12 online edpuzzle lectures with three out of class assignments and three tests. Tests were taken on your own with a lockdown browser, but were super easy if you even half listened to the lectures and actually did the assignments.
Prof Duncan is a very nice lady and caring about students, but makes the class harder than it needs to be. There are so many online lectures which are fine, but the tests are very hard and most of the time don't cover things that were actually in the online lectures. You also only get like 4 absences for the semester and are required to show up.
Carly Philp was the amazing co-teacher! the online lectures have questions during them. 3 assignments but they are long. gives time to do them. tests are super hard. attendance is mandatory. 9 absences and you fail. learn lots of different things to use when working out and how to take care of your body. Class was Lifetime Fitness and Wellness.
There are two parts to the class: in-person & online lectures. We do our section workout in-person, which is always fun. She's very understanding & allows modifications if a workout is too hard. The online lectures are sometimes heavy, but she gives plenty of study materials to help prepare you. Overall she's engaging & cares about our wellbeing.
Best option hands down for kin100. most of the complaints I see were about things that are out of her control, like the attendance policy and the assignments (which are graded by other profs in the kin department). The lectures are super easy online ed puzzles so take notes because all the test questions can be found from the lectures. super easy A
so much better than health 100, no passport events. There is 2 meetings in person and then the lectures you do at your own pace. Everything can be found in the lectures and as long as you show you are trying in the workouts youll get a good grade. She cancels class a lot, but there is an assignment for attendance that takes 2 minutes.
Professor Duncan is an average professor. The lectures, tests, and classes are easy but her attendance policy is unhinged. Missing 4 pilates classes results in failing the class, and you only get 2 excused without your grade falling.
Chelsea was very good for KIN 100 under Pilates. We just did workouts in class and we had Edpuzzles for lectures that only had a few questions. The tests were all online and there was a few bigger assignments. Partner work was required for an make your own workout assignment at the end of the semester. Grades on attendance and participation.
Super easy class. Easy A for anyone who will show up for class. Tests are taken at home online on lockdown with no camera. Some group work here and there
Do not take this professor if you struggle with body image issues or an eating disorder. She measures your body in front of the class and is a stickler about attendance and if you walk in a minute late. Would never take her course again.
Lectures on Edpuzzle and are available at the start of the semester. If you really wanted to you could watch all the lectures at the beginning of the semester and just cruise the rest of the semester. She does grade pretty rough when it comes to our assignments that we turn and the questions that are on the lectures are graded for accuracy.
Great option to take as a gen ed. Very straight forward assignments and exams with great video explanations that will walk you through each assignment. HIIT can be a little intense but even if HIIT is the only option it is still not that bad as long as you show up to class, you are let at early most of the time and given rest days.
Chelsea was so kind and understanding of me as a human. She took the time to make sure that I could succeed in her class and she was very personable. The class did have a strict requirement of working out, but thats KIN 100. If you have the opportunity to take her class, do it!
Tough on attendance, grading, and late policies. She's a nice person, and her class is pretty enjoyable, but you have to stay on top of assignments and lectures. She doesn't give much grace for missing class or assignments, so it's a little more difficult than what a gen ed, 100-level workout/health class should be, but still a pretty good prof.
From the beggi
Pretty easy, my lecture was online on edpuzzle so it was super easy. Tests were discussions so you didn't have to study because it was peer graded
Sweet teacher and really cares about teaching health and wellness. One online lecture with questions once and week and occasional other assignments. Only downsides are that you can only have 2 absences without it significantly affecting your grade and had a serious sickness with doctor's note and she said it wouldn't count as an excused absence.
The class is set up with a fitness instructor and a lecture professor. The class is easy as long as you do the work, but to get full credit, you need to write a paragraph response for every question, even if you can answer it fully in a sentence or two. Then lectures are Edpuzzles once a week with a lab after. Also don't buy the textbook!
She is a great pilates instructor! The actual class is fun. Of note, her attendance policy is very strict and will plummet your grade. If you show up to class sick, she will borderline shame you (but doesn't leave much room for sick absences). She also is a very harsh grader for the work assigned, which is kind of annoying for a gym gen-ed.
She's awesome, the course is incredibly easy and you do two workouts in class a week. I think KIN-100 in general is just an easy class, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Choose a section that sounds like fun.
I was mostly taught by Duncan's TA, Gabby Richards (who was awesome), but the times I interacted with her were always positive experiences. This course is incredibly easy, just show up and put a little bit of effort into the workouts and you'll be fine. The hardest grade in the course is just attendance. No exams!
I did her for Pilates and as my online lecturer. She gave feedback on all of the assignments. She gave us ed puzzles as lectures and we could retake the edpuzzles. there were three tests.
I had her for pilates and loved her class!! Fun workouts and you learn a lot through the online lectures. Lots of assignments, however they are all very simple and all of them are focused around physical and mental wellness.
I had Duncan for pilates and she is so amazing. She is very understanding and makes her expectations clear. Health once a week was not that bad, and there was a weekly assignment that was pretty easy. Take it if you have a chance, especially pilates, she is an amazing instructor!
She was alright. She won't let you skip class and your grade will plummet if you miss one class. She is a very harsh grader and goes through her lectures way too quickly and doesn't post slides. I wouldn't take her again. Not too much homework though.
Ms. Duncan was just awesome! Her lectures were interesting and definitely relevant to our everyday lives (especially for a Gen-Ed class). I took her Pilates lab session as well and the workouts were so much fun & things that I'm definitely going to keep doing to stay in shape. She's incredibly accommodating/accessible outside class.
I thought this class was super interesting and also an easy gen-ed class to take. The lectures are only once a week and aren't bad at all. Attendance is taken though a QR code, and the workout section of the class meets twice a week. Tests are easy and taken at home. She's a really nice and easygoing professor.
Prof Duncan taught lecture 1 day/week and had a grad student manage the workouts the other 2 days. I recommend taking Prof Duncan as your lecturer as she explains things very thoroughly and easy for anyone to understand. Overall easy class and fun to get workouts in as class attendance.
I only had Prof Duncan for my KIN lecture but she was very knowledgeable. She explains the slides more than just what's written down so I recommend paying attention to the lectures so you know all the information. I highly recommend her as your lecture professor, she's very kind and very knowledgeable about kinesiology.
Only had Professor Duncan for lecture, but she explained lectures very clearly, notes for lecture helped a lot for tests, very easy homework, and lab was enjoyable. A couple extra credit assignments but you probably won't need them. Attendance for lab and lecture are required, but I recommend taking this class with Professor Duncan.
I only had Prof Duncan for the lecture, but all her lectures were very informative and interesting. I really loved this class, and Prof Duncan is great at explaining and very eager to help and answers students and their questions. All of the exams are online and take home. Take her for kin 100!! I loved her!
Her workouts were pretty easy and she made them enjoyable. There were online assignments most weeks but they were really easy. Perfect for a gen ed and not a ton of work.
Perfect Gen-Ed class. Teaches you good information to know about taking care of yourself. Just pay attention in lecture and you'll be more than fine, even if sometimes it seems long, taking notes goes a long way on the tests. There's weekly online assignments but they're easy.
Her lectures were very relaxed and easy to follow. She posts the slides with missing information, but during the lecture she has the filled in information on the slides as she goes through them. There are 3 exams that are very easy and take home and other assignments that are easy as well.
All test are online and weekly assignments due on friday but always takes max 10 mins to complete. You don't have to show up to class or pay attention to do well but she does to attendance codes to make sure your there. easiest classes i have ever taken
KIN 100 is mainly ran through your TA, which is the workout portion of the class. Professor Duncan leads the lectures that are once a week, most of the content is pretty boring and basic but she tries to make it engaging. Attendance is key in the class, there are very easy assignments and 3 exams but if you just go to class you get an A basically.
There are 3 take-home exams on lockdown browser, including the final, which is not cumulative. Attendance will make or break your grade and you get 2 unexcused absences. You don't need the textbook and the assignments are pretty easy. You can turn them in up to two days after the due date with deducted points. You can get an A/B easy!
she's good, tests weren't bad, lecture is required & labs you can miss a couple classes until it tanks your grade. Overall super easy had no problems. I recommend her class
I liked the way Duncan taught; she sounded like a TED talk a lot. Very caring and accommodating. Although for Kin100 as a class, I feel the lab/gym instructor matters much more than the lecturer. All exams were asynchronous online and graded lightly.
Easiest gen ed I've ever taken, and the lecture content is actually interesting. As long as you go to classes and do the assignments (which are really easy, usually one a week) there's no reason you shouldn't get an A. You get 2 free absences and a mental health day so if you're someone who goes to class, I'd 100% recommend.
easiest class ever. exams all online, attendance is mandatory, involves a few assignments but they are so easy, and do not buy the textbook its pointless. she is very nice and will respond to emails. not hard AT ALL
Dont need to buy the textbook, attend class for participation grade and take some notes, the tests are take home and simple. She is very sweet and loves to answer questions we have. Would def recommend!
Professor focuses on talking about genders and trying to make everyone welcome, more than content itself. Otherwise, KIN 100 with her us an easy A.
She was a great teacher! This class is where you have a lecture once a week and then select a workout to have twice a week with it. I had her for both portions. She was VERY nice and very informed about the content of the class. I think you can miss 3 workout class. Tests are online, and you have an assignment every week, but both were very easy.
BEST CLASS EVER. Lecture was once a week and was always full of great info you could take away to use for your own health and wellness. Even she says it's a class where you should be selfish and take advantage of this info. Online tests were dead easy if you took notes. Workouts twice a week and my instructor was great. Easiest A ever.
Easy A, just show up to the lecture and take notes if needed. Some of the info is common sense, some is helpful. Exams are online and pretty easy. Annoying assignments once in a while, but nothing too bad. Show up to ur lab or ur grade will plummet. Attendance matters a lot, so just show up and know the basics, and you will get an A.
The lecture for this class was very boring. I felt like I was wasting my time being there. Aside from that, the lab and assignments for the course were beneficial and actually helped me learn things. For lab if you show up, you get a good grade. Lecture attendance is a code. Test are online and only one assignment a week.
Professor Duncan was my lecture for KIN 100. The lectures went by fast, but would be a bit boring. She does have a textbook, but I never used it and passed with a high A in the class. There are assignments each week, some are lowkey just busy work. The exams were easy. Overall, easy gen ed class, but you have to go to lecture and lab.
She is a great person and teacher. Cares about her students and is always positive. She wants her students succeed and care about themselves and is always helpful and responds usually within the same day. I recommend taking some of her classes as I learned a lot and she was very helpful with all class related topics and activities!
Super easy teacher. Lecture once per week. One assignment per week, really easy. Three tests, all take home with no lockdown browser. No pop up quizzes or anything in class, just lecture. Very very easy class and an easy A. Even if you aren't a KIN major take it instead of Health. Basic knowledge.
I had chelsea for Kin 100 lecture and shes awesome! Very knowledgeable, very caring for her students (even though its a huge lecture hall!) not to mention its such an easy class. 100% would reccomend.
Extremely easy class. She is a very knowledgeable and upbeat professor, but her lectures are bone dry. Sometimes it can be a little hard to pay attention, but there is only one lecture a week along with one assignment, so it makes it worth it. Basic knowledge and would take this over HTH100. Labs are run by grad students,
weekly assignments. class was so free like SO free easiest class ive taken. tests are closed note no lockdown browser take at home. (dont cheat its so easy). you need to show up to class or you will fail tho. 2 free skips, 1 mental health skip, but if you miss like 5 classes i think you lose all attendance points possible for the year. so dont miss
Like the easiest class ever, no exams just a semester project that you periodically check in with. Kind of a useless class, but an easy A.
This class was really easy. Only 3 exams, but all of the questions were straightforward. If you take notes and review before the test, you will do just fine. She also makes her lectures about real-world things and applicable to you, so they are engaging for the most part. Attendance is mandatory though, so make sure you show up.
Super easy class, should be online. Lectures turn into a study hall.
Professor Duncan for KIN 100 (the lecture component) was superb. She is very knowledgeable in this subject and lecture (depending on schedule) is only once a week. As long as you follow along with the lectures and participate in your Lab, you will succeed. I would absolutely suggest Prof. Duncan for KIN 100!
She is so chill. You have to show up to class but she gives you partial notes to do while listening in class and all the exams are straight from the notes.
Lectures were heavy, but she was very good at explaining some of the concepts. Exams were slightly difficult. There were a lot of short-answer questions on them.
Professor Duncan is great! Her lectures are interesting and she relates the content to our lives. The tests are somewhat difficult (lots of short answer), but they're always based directly off of the notes. She also gives partial notes for each lecture. Lecture only meets once a week and is pretty chill.
KIN 100 was fun. The lectures were very simple and straightforward, and the online exams were nothing to be afraid of. I enjoyed her lectures and they were very informative. The workouts in the lab were fun, safe, and usually self-paced. It is important to show up, as it is a large portion of your grade. Show up to both the labs and lectures.
This is an easy elective, as long as you submit your work on time, this class shouldn't be challenging.
Don't think twice about taking this, even if you are worried about class 3 times a week, trust me, there's nothing to worry about. Assignments are short and directions are good. Hardly any work to do outside of class if you play it right. Even if you aren't physically active at all, it's still just as easy as if you workout daily. Its a no-brainer.
