She was literally the best professor I've taken in my three semester at CSN. She tells what she wants and how she wants it. 4 speeches, plenty of time to prep for them. One midterm, one final. Easy if you actually study for them. Great teacher and great class!

My favorite professor, so far! Lectures aren't boring, and shows videos to help you understand her lectures and what not do. Only four speeches (which weren't difficult), one midterm & final (which she provides study guides for). Attendance not mandatory, but her lectures helped understand the topic better, so you wouldn't want to skip class.

She was a great professor who made class as entertaining as she could and was also very direct with what she wanted and very helpful! If you put in the work and time in this class, you will get an A! Took her class in the summer (4 wk course). It was intense because of the time crunch, which was 16 wks worth of info in 16 classes, but it was great! She made everyone feel relaxed for speeches and her lectures were entertaining and thorough. She also grades speeches and exams quickly. No one dropped the course which is proof that it was worth it.

When I first picked communications I thought I would hate it because I hate public speaking, but she made this class 10x better to take. She has a certain criteria for the outlines you have to follow and gives you everything you need to know. Great teacher, everyone take her!

Super fun class! Ms. Walls makes Com 101 very easy. Created an environment where the entire class was participating and having fun during lecture days, making speaking comfortable and easing the nerves on speech days. Four speeches total, random speaking exercises, a midterm and a final. Textbook required but never used.

Professor Walls is a great professor. She makes the lectures fun and shows entertaining and funny video clips pertaining to the lesson. Her feedback on the speeches is very helpful. Her classroom environment is very relaxed, resulting in less nerves when giving speeches. If you have the chance, I would definitely recommend taking her.

Loved Ms. Walls. She is hilarious and to the point, her schedule of lectures/speeches/activities were right on cue with the syllabus. Ms. Walls keeps the class engaged with the movies she chooses. She doesn't talk about theory directly much during class, but gives you ideas of what to incorporate in your papers. Available for office hours, easy to understand. Attendance matters 2 missed classes took me from A to a B student. So be there or be square!

There are 4 main speeches that you give, and she creates a non-judgment zone making it easier to speak to a room full of people. You have to work for your grade, but she makes it very easy to do well in her class.

Com 101 is a speech class. This course had 4 speeches. All you have to do to pass this course is to make sure your speech reaches the time limit.

I was with her for summer 2019 and all that I can say is PICK HER. Just remember to focus on the TIME. Her exams were super easy and so is her speech. Overall, it is really a fun class!

I took this class during the Fall2019. She has been my favorite professor so far. I was really scared of taking it because English is not my 1st language but I loved the way she teached us. It took me out of my comfort zone but I enjoyed it and learned a lot. I only needed the textbook for the online tests. This class needs commitment & hard work.

Great online prof. Her Canvas is a bit cluttered but everything's labelled. Having fun with your speeches is goal cause it's a fun course to take, just get ready for a lot of memorization and stage fright -- even if it is an online course. You'll have fun lol. For a 4wk summer course, it was a lot but I made it with an A and YOU WILL TOO! :)

This class wasn't difficult at all. I was worried when I initially read the reviews on here, but this class was easy. You get a 2 minute window of time for your speeches, and as long as you time yourself when you practice you'll be. She gives study guides for the exams and as long as you do the work, it's an easy A.

Currently taking Professor Walls' COM 101 for Fall 2020, it's my first year in college and I have to say I love her! I have never gotten anything below a 97% in her class. Very few assignments, there's only 19 assignments in her class and she gives you so much time in between. The speeches aren't hard, just do your best. I definitely recommend her!

I do my stuff for finish the outline to do the speech but in need to take more time but I did good on the canvas quizzes what I just taking notes. Even I do my google slide while I finish my outline.

COVID class: this was so easy! 4 speeches. Clear on what she wants and how the outline is suppose to be. Choose a topic you are comfortable with. Dont wait until the last second to write your speech. Only problem I had was time limit on speeches. Everything else was simple, clear & easy. Easy A

Her lectures can be redundant and a little unorganized, but her grading is straight forward. No late work accepted so be sure to do your speeches on time. She responds quickly to emails and has TA's available to help with speeches if you feel stuck. She was awesome during COVID-19 stuff and understanding for online limitations. A good online course

I was super reluctant to take a COM class online, but Professor Walls' COM class was amazing! Super simple and easy speeches and all under 10 minutes. You need an audience member for each speech but you're allowed to use flash cards for your speech. Honestly would recommend her to anybody who needs to take COM 101.

Listen to the PowerPoints since she gives clear instruction on what she expects for each speech & outline in those. If you do that & take time to practice your speeches - you'll easily pass. Use mix of PowerPoints & book for the midterm and final, take your time on them, & you'll easily pass those too. Prof Walls was great.

Dr Walls organized the class in an orderly fashion and the expectations for each speech were clear. I'm not very good with public speaking but Dr Walls really helped me out, and I did better with each speech. This professor has a nice, approachable personality as well. I recommend her for COM101.

4 WK Course. Online: no live sessions. 4 speeches. Lectures on PP. Midterm & a Final. Some of the Midterm & Final questions did confuse me. Professor Walls is very nice & friendly. I took this 4 wk course in summer and when I first saw the syllabus I doubted I could finish this class. I have really bad stage fright and my first video was extremely difficult to finish. I did not have the textbook for the exams and the lectures weren't enough. She gave me really good grades on my speeches even w/ stage fright and lots of 'uh's!

I like writing the outlines, take the test online on canvas, and make a powerpoint presentation. Even I saw on the Student Union in CSN.

Com 215: 1 Quiz every week. Don't need the book but she does provide powerpoint presentation. It is a group project class so you will be getting fun group projects weekly and have to present it in front of the class and they will be timed. Professor is very understanding and wants you to get a good grade. Super nice and friendly.

Professor Walls is extremely NICE. If you try, you will get an A. This class is working in groups, and the group projects are very easy. The 8 week course was a breeze, it went by so fast. I honestly feel like the class should have been harder, that’s how easy it was. I really appreciated her kindness & passion for teaching us. I loved her! :)

Seems like she'll be tough at first, but extremely nice and accommodating as long as you respect her. No phones/laptops, turn things in on time, and let her know when you need help. I loved this class, I'm an introvert but I looked forward to this class every week. Get ready to work with the same group of people. She requires a book for her class, but I only used it 1 time. The assignments were order a little weird, but fun.

Some of the most notable features of the class include a clear schedule of all assignments for the semester provided on day 1, a very welcoming atmosphere that encourages being comfortable speaking with the class, and Professor Walls' very apparent mastery of the subject.

If you plan on taking COM 215, I suggest taking professor Chelsi's 8-week course. The activities are exciting, and she encourages everyone to do their best in projects. She answers any questions you have and is kind. If you hate groupworks, this class might make you think otherwise. If you're looking for a sign to take her class, this should be it.

She only has the midterm, 4 speeches, and a final. Her grading is strict but if u follow the outline/criteria then you'll be good. Her lectures are fun and easy to follow. Each speech increases in points so if you mess up it isn't the end of the world, just do better next speech. She is a great professor and teaches you a lot about public speaking.

Her class is very self-explanatory I think and as long as you turn in everything on time and follow what she expects it's easy to get a good grade. Amazing COM teacher! I didn't even know I had a problem speaking publically until I took this class, I don't know where I'd be without it. Without being biased she is a great teacher, she is very professional and always gives tips on how to do a good job and feedback on how to improve. There are 4 speeches. Sometimes group assignments.

Attending her class made me realize how good of a public speaker I actually am. It made me overcome my phobia of public speaking. I will say though that if you take this class, you have to be on top of your game when it comes to speeches. The only way you'll get a good grade is if you're prepared. Otherwise, your grade will go down.

She was a wonder to take this summer semester! I was very nervous/skeptical about taking com but her energy and how down-to-earth she was eased me, as well as how fun the class was! These 4 weeks flew by for me and she is truly a great teacher and inspires and encourages you to be a great public speaker, no matter what fear or anxiety you have.

I just recently finished Professor Walls' class (a four-week summer course). Professor Walls is very energetic! Ensure you attend class everyday, actively take notes, participate in activities, prepare in advance, and you'll perform well in speeches/the course! It's rather straightforward.

There is a lot of writing but should be expected since it is a communications class. Her criteria is very clear and gives great feedback. Follow the criteria and you'll most likely get a 100%.

You don't need the textbook as long as you pay attention to her slides, speeches get tougher as you continue through, she can come off as rude but everything is clear and you will do good as long as you meet the criteria. Free pass on last exam if you do the speech fest! I would take her again!!!

Def take her for com 101. 4 speeches each with clear grading criteria, as well as an easy midterm and a final (+ outlines for each speech), but shes really nice with grading w speeches and is super clear on what you have to say in order to get points. She's also really energetic n funny, super approachable if you have questions/concerns.

Coming from someone with debilitating stage fright, the class gets easier if you time yourself at home + do speeches on things you actually care about. Take her advice of pausing instead of saying "um" or "uh" seriously. That will affect your grade. Her lectures are well organized and she's easy to approach. The exam was online and non-proctored.

Took this class fall 2024 semester. Very easy intro to communications class. Professor is very likable. Walls gives you lots of time for your group to prepare your presentations. 5 assignments as a group: 2 exercises and 3 presentations. 2 individual assignments: 1 annotated bibliography, 1 reflection paper.

Absolutely amazing experience. Took this class during summer. Very fast paced. However, she does a great job of preparing you for speeches. Very easy going. Loved this class 10/10.

I took Mrs. Walls Com 101 class over the summer and it was overall extremely easy. She was very nice and caring towards the class and tries to make jokes, if you ask her for help she tries to level with you in a way you'll understand. Exams are pretty easy if you take notes and have the textbook. The speech outlines aren't that bad!

She is very personable/charismatic and funny. She gives a clear guide to assignments and grades speeches fairly. You will pretty much always be prepared for speeches as you write them out into clear-cut outlines. You're able to utilize notecards and each speech progressively increases in time and points. I enrolled in this class for Professor Walls, but it was a joint class with two other professors. Her section was the last of the 16 weeks, and her assignments were the most enjoyable. You will get 100 if you do the work according to her instructions, which are easy. There are worksheet assignments and one interview you must conduct.

Shocker: the public speaking professor is great public speaker! I like her lectures! And she gives good written feedback after you give your speech (not shared to classmates). She is friendly and reasonable. If you lock in, you'll pass this class. Late assignments not accepted (except for extenuating circumstances), so LOCK IN and you'll be fine!

Professor Walls is so kind relaxed and funny. Her class was not hard but be mindful she doesn't accept late work. We only had 4 speeches and a reflection paper after each. Also if you perform in the speech festival you get an automatic 100% on your final. Her attendance was strict but I skipped a couple days and nothing happened. Also light grader

Prof walls is super cool and cares a lot about her students. If youre looking for a good com 101 teacher its her. She eases you into public speaking so even if youre uncomfortable it's still easy to pass. Beware of her midterm though!
