He goes fast in class but he tells you what will be on the test
I dropped because I just didn't get the computations in Physics but this guy is funny, friendly, and very helpful. He doesn't mind a bit if you ask him to clarify due to his accent either.
very hard to understand. you really dont need to go to class. just look through the book. homeworks are found in the solution manual and are for completion grades
good guy
He is very difficult sometimes to understand. His test are from ???? "Tutoring is available at the University Center" was one of his saying.
Chang Chen, I'm not sure which is his first name and which is his last name. He had great difficulty in keeping up with the class, & staying in control as a teacher. I would not suggest him as a teacher for any one to take.
This guy uses multiple choice for Midterms and Final. That means you couldnt get part credits of each question. I don't like his teaching way. He just exactly put the formulas from textbooks on the board, then , do one or two examples. That's it.
Holy molley, I barely remember this teacher, I couldn't even have a good DREAM in his class, let alone a good lesson.
Dr. Chang is a good professor, but my low clarity rating reflects his thick accent; he's simply difficult to understand. He realizes this, however, and really does go out of his way to make sure the class follows him. I suck at math, so the comm. gap...
Multiple choice for a Calc 2 test? Thats crazy to me. Makes class harder to follow with accent, but on the upside is really funny and tells good jokes.
When I started his class, it had been 38 years since I had taken Cal III. I hardly recognized the subject. I have passed three Bar exams without the fear I had of his midterm. But, I left the class feeling like a mathematician. I thank Dr. Chang.
he sucks, he sucks, he sucks
He has a tendency to get off subject, but is otherwise a good prof. More generous than most when it comes to grading.
This is a strange professor. His thick asian accent makes him a little difficult to understand. He has a policy of passing students if they do well on the final exam, regardless of their grade in the class. He is a bit aloof, but tries very hard.
I thought he was a great teacher and was actually pretty funny too.If you give him half a chance you'll realize he is a great teacher and really wants his class to do well.He is easy to approach and down to earth.
Dr. Chen is very straight forward with his presentation and his examinations. He is also very helpful and cares about the success of his students in his class.
He is an excellent prof. he is funny and kind. I actually like the multuple choice exams b/c you can eliminate & guess. Funny guy, great teacher, you should take him
If you do bad in this class you are simply bad at math. He makes problems as simple as possible. Tests are slightly more difficult than homework. Need to get used to accent.
Dr. Chang is a great professor. He cares about the wellbeing of his students, and is actually quite a funny guy! I enjoy his class. (trigonometry/pre-calculus 1093)
A very good teacher. Once you get used to the accent he is very easy to understand.
Prof. Chan tries hard, but I do not think that he does a good job of teaching.
There was once an error on the test...after repeatedly said "no error on test!" He made no effort in correcting it but said "talk to the book!" That's not the kind of professor you want. He also has a horrible tendency to embarrass you after begging for a pure guess of a problem, not recomemded...
He is kind of stupid in class, and couldn't understand him at all. Won't help you at much even you go to his office. Lecture is bad and difficult to understand.
you better learn chinese cuz he dont speaky clear enough and he doesnt go indept and takes everything too "simply".
a very bad professor, get used to day dreaming in class. His accent is too strong.
really hard class. do not take it unless you must- ty another instructor
This guy is as incoherent as any teacher at UTSA. Unless you really know calculus, dont take this guy.
this guy is impossible. thats all that i can say to sum up my experience in his class.
Not a good teacher, take him for your last option
ok, I agree, he is hard, and very hard to understand. But all it takes is sitting down and letting the book teach you as well. I tried to study from my notes for the midterms and I was failing at that point. But he promised that if we made a 100 on the final we would get an automatic A and I did!
horrible. this man brought me to tears because i tried so hard to learn precal and i just couldnt. or i thought i did until it came test time. even my tutors couldn't figure out some of his problems that he gave out. don't take him.. unless if you like crying.
this man should be banned from teaching.i asked him to explain a problem a lil more and he said help yourself..he also thinks we are dumb cause we are freshman in college algebra. VERY UN-HELPFUL..IM SORRY WE ARE NOT CALCULUS NERDS LIKE HIM THAT CANT EVEN TALK OUR LANGUAGE CORRECTLY!! GOOD LUCK
Dr. Chang is overall a good professor. His tests aren't easy but its not too hard to get an A if you try and have some natural mathematical ability.
This teacher is hilarious! He goes off topic a lot so it is kind of hard to follow along, but he is really willing to help however he can. If you talk to him he is willing to "help" your grade as much as possible. He has a strong Asian accent so it is sometimes hard to understand, but he is nice.
This man is extremely weird. He seems funny and nice in the front of the class, but when I asked him for help he yelled at me and insulted my ability to listen.
He rather tell you a story about something than teach you anything in math. I pretty much got nothing out of coming to class. If he tried to do a problem from the book, 2 out of 3 times he wouldn't be able to finish it. I would take someone else if I were you.
DO NOT take this man for ANY class-he is VERY unclear and his tests are next to impossible. It takes a lot to get me to write a bad review, but he definitely did it! He is very hard to understand and expects perfection, which is fine! But he chastizes our Algebra skills even though we end up correcting him at least 5 times during any one problem.
very good teacher...very systematic in approach...goes a little off topic from time to time but will not short change his students
he is not that bad in the summer. he gives us a break on learning too much
He went easy on us for summer as far as material to learn. I didnt do as well as I wouldve liked but that had a lot to do with me not doing the homework, from my understanding do the hw, and you will do fine on the test. Without doin the hw, I pulled a C. Ultimately he is not going to cheat the student out of the grade they deserve.
I found him to be very helpful although his class was still challenging. His stories, although not relating to math, still teach valuable lessons about life and sometimes can be returned, through a bit of mental work, back to mathematics.

He is an alright professor. He's class is easy, you can make an A with out trying. He gets really borning though, especially with his "stories".
Dr. Chang is a great teacher. Very nice and funny. We have a week to do homework! I like his class alot.
Chang is a great prof. I his stories pop up at random times but they are always funny. Just be sure to watch out for his simple mistakes(adding/subtracting error)
His class is easy. nuf said. pay attention and you'll get a good grade. Your an idiot if u don't pass. *HINT*HINT* P.S. He's H-O-T!!!!
He is a nice guy and has funny stories, but he goes too fast and does not stop to answer questions. The class is not easy with him because he does not explain.
He is a nice man, but has an accent that made him difficult to understand sometimes. If you are easily distracted by things like that, you might want to consider taking this class with another professor.
He has really great notes, and his tests come directly from the homework and quizes. He doesn't try to trick students like so many professors do.
He is a nice guy and he is funny but... he has a very strong accent and it is hard to understand him. he gives hard quizes and hard tests. if you can take another teacher and save yourself the trouble!!
great guy
He's always late and then tells stories for 20mins! He has horrible notes. Only 2 things determine your grade - his midterm and final, according to his "partial credit" which sucks. He has this ideology that americans can't be chanllenged so he only teaches the raw basics. so if you need to take anything behind cal 1, don't take him for cal 1
He will kill your GPA mess up your completion rateand jepordize your financial aid!!! Unless your a math wizard. He thinks we Americans are big dummies.
I had him for a summer class. I was impressed at how easy his lectures/notes were to follow, compared to other math profs. He tested us with problems straight from the homework. He wants his students to do well. If you're interested in math, then I would definitely recommend him. I didn't find the accent bad at all. NO CURVE.
This was one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. His tests are really easy. Do your homework and ask your t.a. for help if you have questions. People make a huge deal about his accent. It really isn't that bad. He's really funny and he's really helpful too. Put in a little work, and you should be fine. The calculus textbook is really good.
You can barely understand him when he is talking and when you do understand and word or two you are already confused. If you ask him for help during class, instead of helping you, he does the whole problem for you and does not explain how he got the answer. If you go up to him after class to clerify a little better he treats you like crap!
He wasn't too bad. My problem was messing up the mid-term, and having to play catchup. If you do your homework, and ask questions during your labs, you should be fine. Little bit of warning: he only had 2 tests, which combined for 80% of your grade. So if you like multiple choice math tests, he's your guy.

You can get used to the accent. For Cal 1, the only two tests (mid and final) were multiple choice. Multiple choice in math is smth that should never be done, but anyways... The questions on the tests come straight out of the text book, he ALWAYS picks the problems you prolly skipped on the HW b/c it was too hard. Do the HW and an A+ is easy
I had to take this class, he was a little hard to understand, but you get used to it, and he tells funny little stories every now and then. Don't pick none of the above on the mid term..it's not the answer. Your grade comes from quizzes, one homework a week (only like 5 problems) and 2 tests. You have to do good on the tests or your screwed.
He is pretty funny, but I he doesn't make any sense. He's also not very nice.
Chang is a great person. Not so much professor material and I only say this because he does not spend a lot of time going over example problems....hes more obessed of how formulas were derived so when it comes to the homework and test you are not sure how to do the problems...it wasn't hard understanding him you have to just pay attention.
He is hard to understand, bad teacher, does not apply ideas, and his tests are multiple choice!!
Great teacher. If peopled took notes in his class they sure would be getting an A or a B. Not only that his accent is not that bad. Try having a russian teacher for bio I. He always quotes "if you do your homework you will do great on the test.
worst teacher ever! you might as well teach yourself. he gives you thousands of different ways to solve a problem, none of which are easy to understand. Tells you to go to mathlab instead of answering questions. Final is worth 50% of entire grade! Gives no opportunity to submit homework for extra points. Avoid at all costs!!!!!
awesome stories awesome professor. uhhhh hardcore
Confusing explanations of problems. More concerned about proofs than applicability. You can tell he's probably a genious, but he has a hard time getting points across to his students. Nice guy one on one. Says go to math lab, but if you need help, go to his office.
hes a funny guy with great stories to tell but i had a hard time in his class. ive never liked math... and didn't really enjoy his test or the hw. needless to say i dropped. don't take his class if your not a genius, hardworker or math lover.
Ummmmm yeah pretty hard because he has a really strong accent. Tests are easy. Hard to understand.
He has a strong accent, but he knows his math. I mean, look at him! Tests are not hard at all. Literally, do the homework and you'll get an A. Doing the homework means each & every problem, not looking in the back of the book. He is the definition of fair.
Very good teacher, I made 4 on my AP test, but took him because I didnt want a B. And I learned some stuff I didnt even know =) awesome prof. Steps to make an A in his class 1- Go to class, if u ask him he will tell you when u need to be there. 2- Do HW!!! he picks problems for the test from here. 3- Do well on all the quiz. 4- go to office hr
He is a very helpful and intelligent math professor. His accent is a little strong, but it is worth it because he explains everything very well. Very fair with easy tests. If you do the homework you'll get an A. If you don't do the homework at least go to class and understand it and you'll still walk out with a good grade.
Totally agree that he goes off topic, but he is the definition of "fair". Quiz problems and test problems are taken from homework or are extremely similar. No, this is not an easy A class. No, do not take this if you suck at math. Yes, take him if you're serious about math.
DO THE HOMEWORK! Tests are from the homework or slight variations of if they deviate. Sometimes wanders off, but always delivers the lecture. DO THE HOMEWORK. I don't think any of us who have already taken him can stress that enough. If you're needing to take this class, you already know it's time to get serious. "Professional Math" DO HOMEWORK!!!
A little hard to understand. Tries to scare you first day of class but it turns out he's pretty easy. Can't use graphing calculators. Lets you use your own formula sheet. Great teacher. EASY A IF YOU DO ALL HOMEWORK!
Good professor; knows what he's talking about. Has a moderately thick accent but is understandable. Take his class if you are really good at math. If you do the homework and know your stuff, you'll do well.
I had Dr. Chang for two different classes. He is very fair and quite devoted to teaching. Just know he is old school, so mind your manners in class. Do ALL homework! This cannot be stressed enough in his classes. Tests are almost directly from homework. He likes to delve into theory at times, but he keeps it interesting for the non-math majors.
Simple man. Very clear and teaches very well. He will explain it until you understand it. DO HOMEWORK! Tests are straight from the homework. NO quizzes. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he'll notice if you're there, and it helps bc he's a great teacher. Can turn in hmwk for extra credit. VERY FAIR and by the book type of guy, so use manners.

Dr. Chang is very old school. I took him summer MAT 1073 and didn;t use a claculator. he explains very well, you need to take notes and the homework will be easy. the tests are the exact same as the homework so if you do it you shouldn't have any problems. also, some of the homework he counts as extra credit. take him! he's a very funny guy too
DO HOMEWORK! cant stress it enough. Tests and quizzes are literally straight out of the homework. He is a very funny guy that likes to crack a joke here and there in class. He expects students to be polite and on time.
He is funny, but the test are straight from the HWRK so u have to do it to do good on the test. Hwrk is not for a grade but do it, for it is on the test
Professor Chang is a very good teacher, notes and homework are directly related to his test. If you 100% of his homework and study a little bit you will get an A. One con about professor chang is that he has an accent but it is not bad enough to where you wont understand what he is saying.
Horrible Calculus professor. Can barely understand what he's saying, presents unorthodox methods (especially with series) and wastes class time babbling about Chinese philosophy. Does let you use a formula sheet, but besides that there is nothing good about his class. TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR.
very difficult, only 2 tests 80% of grade
he is a great teacher. works lots of examples. english is not great but good enough. if you take alot of notes you will do so much better. cant use a calculator, and he doesnt use blackboard. tests are somewhat difficult but very do-able if you study. quizzes are very easy. this professor is not for everyone but i would take him again.
His accent is quite thick, but by the end of the semester I was used to it and hardly noticed it. Believes that students nowadays are "incapable," so he doesn't really challenge you in class. If you can adjust to his accent, you'll have no problem with his tests, as they are pretty easy. However, I don't feel I retained much from his class.
He is a really great professor. He teaches you the material in a timely manner and proves everything. Hmwk is not mandatory but he strongly encourages it. If you keep up with his lectures and do the hmwk (like you should do anyway) easy A.
Everything posted here is true. Exams/quizzes directly from the book. Do the HW multiple times, including the evens, though they might not be assigned. In your "blue book" (aka formula sheet) write down the instructions at the beginning of the book section, then the formula used, etc. Lastly, work on SPEED. Exams are hard to do in only 50 minutes.
Honestly a very easy professor. One quiz every Mon, usually one or two kinda easy questions from HW in the book. He gets off topic a lot when teaching, so you have to learn a bit on your own, but every cal II class is gonna be hard. I'd say his would be the easiest. Not very challenging tests, easy quizzes, and he wants to pass his students.
Good professor. has an accent but can be understood. has some trouble explaining things, though. do the homework!! it's not mandatory but it will help, a lot! overall a ok teacher
He is switching his test from multiple choice to hand written. The midterm counts for 30%, quizzes are also 30%(held every monday about 12 quizzes total) and the final is 40%. He isn't a bad professor but there are better professors one can take and I don't feel like he is approachable to talk to or yo get help from.
I thought he was a pretty easy prof. Quizzes every monday out of the hw assigned. The only thing that kind of stunk was the mid term and final being the only two test, but if you keep on top of the hw and study the questions he goes over in class you will be fine. He takes his time to go over harder topics. Over all I really enjoyed his class!
Calculus 3. This guy is obsessed with being a "professional." His introductions to the chapters are confusing. He does not explain things conceptually, he simply begins with a formula derivation. Granted, he does tell a story first...
