Difficult to understand, no text book, exam reviews are pointless
Watch the lectures and you'll do fine. Quizzes and exams are open-ended but she gives partial credit.
the questions and quizzes are very easy.
Easiest class I have ever taken. It is EXACTLY like high school AP Stats. I just took notes from the power points and listened to the lecture when needed and passed with flying colors. 10/10 recommend this teacher. I'm taking her for Analytics II as well.
There are quizzes just about every week, but very easy. They area good grade buffer and the actual tests are very easy.
I loved Dr. Yan. This was online cause of covid. Her lectures went more in depth than what was actually on quizzes and tests. They were pretty straight forward. Only complaint is she uploaded lectures the day before the quiz over the material was due so you had like 24 hours to learn it and study it and take a quiz on it. Otherwise, shes great!!
This class is one of the most laid back classes I've taken at Auburn. Lectures are uploaded at the beginning of the week and the powerpoints that go along with them. You take one quiz a week and they are easy and take max. 5 minutes. I have thoroughly enjoyed this class, not a heavy workload at all and material is easy to apply and understand.
Ms. Yan has to be the best BUAL professor at Auburn. I got a B in her BUAL 2600 class, and am currently in BUAL 2650. She really only has one negative which is that she is sometimes hard to understand, but she posts all her lectures so you can go back and re-listen. She explains things very thoroughly, and gives formulas on the tests. Really nice.
I took her for BUAL 2600 and she was amazing, but in 2650, it's more difficult. She switched her teaching style and it's a lot worse from 2600. She is also difficult to understand, so I don't always know what's going on, but I know she can't help it.
I took her for BUAL 2600 and I took her again for BUAL 2650. She explains the material very well and does problems in class, which are sometimes the same as the ones on the test. She's a great teacher and I highly recommend! Just make sure you watch all the lectures before the test and understand how to do the problems and it is an easy A.
She used to have a good teaching style in BUAL2600, but she became lecture heavy for BUAL2650. Her lectures became longer, faster paced and less understandable. She's very nice to her students, but it doesn't help if she doesn't make the content understandable.
For as difficult as the class is, she makes test fairly easy. I think she wants people to do well, but she is difficult to understand. There could be better teachers out there, but I am positive she is better than Halpin (for those of you at Auburn) Homework barely effects your grade so do well on the test.

Dr. Yan's class wasn't insanely hard, her tests are very straight forward. She gives out a lot of assignments but they are a lot like the examples in the lectures. She also gives a pretty good study guide for exams. Final is cumulative.
Professor Chen is a queen and one of the best professors I have ever had. I am terrible at math, yet I passed analytics with a B. She is so helpful, gives easy homework for extra points, and her tests are SO straight forward (not confusing or long). I wish I could take her for every math class because she is THE BEST!
Super nice and understanding. Goes over the material extremely in depth. Tests are not hard at all, no trick questions and super straight forward.
Professor Yan was a really kind teacher that understood how much online classes can suck. She didn't make attendance mandatory and she allowed us to retake all of our tests previous to the final and it would replace the bad grades. The material itself is not bad and she gives you a massive formula sheet that gives away half the answers on the final
I took this class when classes were online and we could watch the panoptos whenever we wanted too. One quiz every week and they were always stupid easy if you actually watched the lectures. Tests were formatted the same as the quizzes and even took some questions you have already seen before. Overall, good professor and really easy material.
Tests are so easy just the same as the homework. She makes its super clear. Also is giving extra credit for attendance which is super nice and just free points.
She is an easy professor is you have prior knowledge of Business Analytics and if you really know what you're doing. If you do not have that prior knowledge, her class might be difficult for you.
If you show up to class and pay attention, you will make an easy A in this class. She wants you to succeed, and was very generous with bonus points after the first exam. Two tests worth 25%, final worth 30%, and easy homework assignments, one per chapter, worth 20%. She gave us formula sheets for exams. Totally recommend her.
Dr. Yan's class was very easy. She spends a lot of time going over the few chapters of easy material. Tests are very easy as questions on the 10 question homework and study guide appear on it very often. Going to class gets you extra credit. Very, very easy.
Her tests are super straight forward and many of the questions area based directly on the homework. She takes her time when explaining concepts and actually cares for her students. Attendance is not mandatory, but extra credit is given pretty often if you go.
Cant complain too much about this class/teacher. She does a great job, but the lectures take so much longer than what is needed bc she will repeat things multiple times other than that solid class. Paying attention is easiest way to get 100 in the class.
Mind numbing, boring lectures. Hurts my brain it is so easy. If you understand mean/median/mode/variance/zscore you will get an A. Tests are a joke. She gives out occasional extra credit if you go to class. Feels like its middle school level.
Professor Yan doesn't really do a good job of making the class interesting and is not very accessible. She also doesn't really care to get to know her students. However, her class is really easy and tests are easy too. If you stay on top of the notes (she offers zoom and in person for class) you will do really well.
Most boring class of my life. Doesn't give any book problems to practice with so you have to watch lectures which are worst than watching paint dry. Overall very easy class tho.
Lecture based. Was difficult to hear and understand at times, but also just kind of boring. 2 tests and a final that weren't too bad, just had to study. If you do the practice problems assigned and study you should make an A. Did zoom class also, which was a trap for me but luckily I still did well on the test. Does pop quiz occasionally.
Mrs. Chen was a good choice for this class. The first half of the semester is pretty easy but gets tougher in the second half. As long as you watch class, do bonuses, and study you will do great. She is really nice and good with responding to emails. I enjoyed this class.
Tough subject, tough teacher. Sometimes hard to understand what Prof. Yan is saying. The final is cumulative which is super tough so take that into consideration! Other than that, pay attention and you'll probably do well enough to pass the class.
This class does not have a lot of points so if you do bad on a test you will struggle to move your grade up. She is a very boring teacher but does offer a zoom option and records her lectures. Shes not great about responding to emails. It is hard to known what is going to be on the tests. She is very unorganized and it leads to a lot of confusion.
She was an okay teacher. Her lectures include reading over slides and doing examples. She can get easily frustrated when students ask questions and spends time covering material that is not needed for homework or tests. If you try in her class you will be fine though. Material is not that complicated. She gives extra credit to people who show up.
I loved chen yan, her tests were not hard if you studied what she gave you. The tests are open-ended so just make sure you understand the material. I would take her again.
Tough teacher
Her study guides are really helpful for the tests. If you go to class, she randomly gives out extra credit which really help boost your overall grades. I was just a little annoyed that she repeats everything she says twice in consecutive sentences like a tick, but if you can over that, she's pretty okay.
Her exams were much easier than the lectures would make you expect. She goes very far into detail during the lectures with stuff the exam wouldn't cover. A little bit harder to understand but overall a solid professor.

Her class is a cakewalk. She loads you with extra credit if you attend class regularly, and she makes her exams absurdly easy. If you pay attention and know the basics of what is taught then you should definitely get an A.
She's very sweet but kind of hard to understand at times. Hard to pay attention in class but she gives a lot of bonus point quizzes if you attend class which helped boost my grade by a lot. The tests really weren't that bad but she doesn't really give you good study materials so I didn't really know how to prepare for them. Homeworks are hard too.
such an amazing professor for such a difficult course. she provides extra credit randomly for coming to class which really helps your grades. exams are easier than youd think because she gives so much info on them, only 8 homework assignments, 2 exams, and a final so the extra credit is your friend, i suck at stats and have a 97, take her if u can!
I went to like 3 classes this semester and still may make an A. Also have not done any extra credit and she gives a lot. If you give an ounce of effort you'll make an A.
Professor Yan is one of my favorite teachers that I have had at Auburn so far. She is very caring and understanding. All of her homework wasn't due until the end of the semester so it is self-paced and your job to make sure it is done. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she does give out bonus questions at the end of class for extra credit.
I like this professor. When you going to class, she always give you a bonus questions. If you get a correct answer then she gives you a one bonus point. When the class is over, she put the class video in the cavas. This way you can understand better. Take her class. I love her because she is a nice professor.
Professor Yan does the best job she can teaching the material of a class that is hard in itself. She was gone a lot of the semester to take care of her injured husband which is completely understandable but it put a lot of the learning on our backs. Her review lectures were helpful for the tests and she gave many extra credit opportunities.
While the class was not hard, she was not able to teach things in an understandable way. This lead to me teaching myself most of the time and it being way harder. She also does not give leeway when grading tests such as no curves or rounding when doing final grades. I would rather take a harder class with a decent teacher than this one again
This was a very easy class. The lectures weren't mandatory but she would randomly give out extra credit for those that went to lectures. She teaches at a very slow rate and repeats herself a lot. The lectures are simply her reading off of the sides and doing examples. If you can get through the boring lectures you should be fine.
She is a really sweet teacher and cares for her students. Our class was sometimes online this year but she was very upfront about it at the beginning of the year. Her lectures can be very slow, and she goes over the material a lot but only 25% of it is actually on the tests. She gives some extra credit for going to class and HW is super easy.
This is a fairly easy class but only if you can learn on your own. The professor's voice actually made me want to drop out of school and be homeless rather than listen to one more second of that. It is like listening to a toddler.
Overall she does a good job making her class not too difficult. The tests are super easy and all multiple choice. She talks a ton and is not always easy to understand so be prepared to teach yourself some of the material
Not a bad class at all,3 tests,7 homework and tons of extra credit. The extra credit can easily be the difference to receiving an A in the class. The first test is extremely easy, Second Test is a little harder but definitely doable. She records all her lectures so you can watch them later to help you study. Overall would recommend
not my favorite class but she really does try her best to make it understandable. my best advice is go to class and PAY ATTENTION AND TAKE NOTES or you will get behind and be overwhelmed come test time. lectures are hard to sit through but I think if I would have paid more attention I would have done a lot better. Just no. Absolute snoozer and I found it impossible to drag myself to this god awful class by the end of August. While she is incredibly nice and caring, she is a terrible lecturer and hard to understand. I wound up teaching myself 90% of the information. Reads off the PowerPoints slides so kind of a waste of time.

Professor Yan is very caring. The class starts out easy, but honestly get pretty difficult. Her lectures are pretty boring, and she tends to repeat herself a lot, but this could help some people grasp concepts if they're a slow learner. The class overall is probably boring with any professor, so that's not on her. Exams are most of grade, STUDY!

Her lectures are very very boring, but you get a ton of extra credit for attendance. So show up and play on your phone and don't pay attention and get the attendance because it will raise your grade so much. Overall, the class material isn't that hard

Although I would find myself re-watching the lectures since she would tend to zoom through course material before I could write anything down, she was a solid professor. Gives you MONTHS to submit HW which is a huge plus. Offers practically free bonus points if you show up for lecture, helps your grade a TON if you find yourself struggling.
She was very sweet and helpful. It is hard to stay caught up with the lectures. However, the study guide is very representative of the exam and she is a lot of help outside of class. Random bonus "quizzes" during class for 1 or 2 bonus points.

While class is not mandatory, she will give LOTS of extra credit randomly to those who show up. The tests were extremely easy since she pulls all questions from the PowerPoints or homework. There is a mandatory final at the end but it is super easy since it is just questions from the previous tests, aka the PowerPoints and homework.
Are you nervous about taking analytics? Take Chen Yan. Lectures are extremely important to watch but she goes out of her way to make subjects understandable. Tests are easier than the assignments as long as you watch the lectures and do the assignments. Basically, if you give her class effort, it will pay off tremendously. Highly reccomend.
Chen is a sweet lady but is SO incredibly boring. This class was my first B ever-- I could not bring myself to pay attention to her lectures. Her tests are not bad but if you don't go to class, it makes it much harder (duh). I take full accountability for my grade, but it would have helped to have an engaging prof. My first sub 5 rating on RMP.
She is the best business analytics professor. Lectures can be very boring but she gives a lot of attendance bonus that boosts your grade a lot. It will seem overwhelming at first but the exams probably cover about 50% of what she actually lectures. The in class examples are basically the exam but simplified. Take her

You have 3 test are year, and the last being comprehensive. If you go to class she gives alot of extra credit which can really help your grade out. She has an accent, but if you pay attention it is not that hard to understand her.

Chen Yan is a sweet woman but her class is hard and her heavy accent doesn't help the situation. bonus points everyday for showing up at the very end in the form of a one question quiz because so few people go to the class. You're better off to take the class, never go and teach your self the material at home because it's so hard to listen.

Very nice Lady who I think cares for the class. But her accent doesn't help while going over the lecture. Also I think she spends too much time on the simpler concepts of the class and assumes we will understand the newer ones by knowing the other ones. However, she offers extra credit at least once a week by showing up to class so make sure to go.
Definitely take her—she's amazing! It's an easy A as long as you attend class. She offers plenty of extra credit and participation points, and her exams closely follow the study guides. She's also incredibly kind and caring, and she's always willing to help during office hours.

Chen is the sweetest professor i've had at Auburn. Her class may be a little boring but the amount of extra credit you get from showing up to class almost guarantees an A or B. The tests are very easy and similar to the study guides. By far the best BUAL 2600/2650 professor. Her teaching style may seem excessive but she gets to the point.
Great professor. Lectures are all posted on Canvas so class isn't mandatory to pass, but she gives extra credit for showing up. Exams are very straightforward with minimal studying needed. She goes through material slowly and clearly. Highly recommend.
Great professor overall, lectures were boring but the class isn't the most interesting anyways. She gave a lot of extra credit so it it definitely worth going to class to boost your grade. She is a sweet lady and exams are very manageable if you take a decent amount of time to study.
You go to her non-mandatory lectures and you will be set, she is super kind and provides great office hours and support.

She's not the best at English, and the lectures are okay. The material just isn't interesting, but she's a great person, and if I did have a question she would help. But studying isn't bad for this class, just go every day, and you will get bonus. I would take her again.
