Probably the easiest teacher you will ever have. She will find a way to get you an A no matter what. Extra credit out the wazoo. Attendance as well as the homework is suggested but not mandatory. She is also really funny ad personable with her students. Would take again in a heartbeat!
Test are really hard and seem to have to much to do compared to the time given to take the test.
She is WONDERFUL!! Very easy to talk to. If you have a problem she will work with you until you get it. Tests are not hard. A few questions on each section to see if you know it. I like that it's not her way or the highway. If you can get the answer a different way then that's okay with her. If I could I would definitely take her again!
AWESOME!! IS MORE THAN WILLING TO MEET WITH YOU TO HELP YOU OUT. A LITTLE FAST PACE SOMETIMES, BUT CLEAR
She is a great teacher. I don't even like math and she makes it fun. You don't have to go to all the lectures and she always lets you out early. She has quizzes every week that are easy and everything is multiple choice. She gives reviews for tests and she is very helpful. She is personable with her students and funny too!
Very good teacher! Fun and clearly understood!
Great teacher. Explains everthing well. If you go to class and do the homework, I don't know how you could get less than a B even if you suck terribly at math.
She is such an awesome teacher I love her! SHE IS A MUST TAKE!!!!!!! And shes soo funny:)
good if you have no clue what is going on. doesn't take up homework, grade is just quizzes and tests. don't really need the book.
She was easy. She gives you reviews for the tests and the exams are very similar to them. She is great at explaining the terms and trig in general. I would take her again if I could. Make sure to attend class or you will fall behind. Homework is not bad at all only assigns a few to turn in but more that you should do.
Really good teacher. She explains things well and clearly. A lot of homework out of the book, but it boosts grades a lot. If you suck at math, you should still get get a good grade in this class. Enjoyed her class a lot.
Her lectures are usually too fast for me. She's really helpful though and the work/quizzes are only given to help your grade improve.
She's a good teacher but she went through everyting way to fast. I prefer to have things explained throughly and half the time she was messing up on her own problems that she used as examples for us and had to have the class correct her several times. She was easy going though, she would push up a quiz date or let you have take home quizes.
Moves very quickly through course material but will work any assigned problem in class if asked. Write down everything that she puts on the board, don't miss class, especially on reveiw day. I have a solid B at the moment with 2 tests left. Assigns homework and gives lots of quizzes. Overall good professor.
she is way to fast, my girlfriend and i both are good at math. i have also already taken precal and she is confusing me on things. The quizzes she gives (theres one everyday) are really hard. and she gives a lot of homework.Shes also very boring. Just rushes through thngs.
The first day i entered the class she taught a lesson... she said "you guys should already know this". No one didnt. She goes WAY TO FAST and doesnt review. Also the quizzes are extremly hard. She teaches the easy question and quiz over the harder stuff.
OMG!! seriously the BEST math teacher i have ever had! i'm absolutely the WORST at math & i managed to pull out an A!! she's clear on everything, doesn't check hw. always answers your questions an test are almost exactly the quizzes! take her!!
She's a good teacher, just teachers really fast! Gives reviews for tests.
She assigns way too much homework. I'm pretty good at math but not doing the homework is what killed me. I don't know why some people are saying she doesn't count homework but homework is like 40% of your grade. Don't really recommend.
TERRIBLE TEACHER. THATS ALL.
If I hadn't have had such a good high school algebra teacher, I never would have survived this class. Teaches way too fast, assigns homework every class day, has short little quizzes almost every day. Makes frequent mistakes while grading. Not a good teacher, but the material was very easy and understandable.
very easy. If you do the homework you will get an A for sure. Helped me with my question with clarity
She's a wonderful lady. Very nice, helpful, wants you to succeed. She is the best elem. functions prof. at SHSU currently so take her IF YOU CAN!
If you do the online homework, you'll probably have a better grasp on the course material and a better grade in the class. She's admittedly not as interested in teaching this course compared to the higher level math courses, but she is nice and understanding. Strikes me as a mom-type: nurturing yet stern and wants you to succeed.
She is too fast when going over the material. Her handwriting is also very hard to make out at times, so I suggest sitting in the very front of the classroom. Her reviews are not very helpful.
She was always very helpful and willing to answer questions, as well as she taught in such a way that things made sense. As long as you put in the effort to do well, you should pass since she want everyone to succeed and does things to help such as dropping grades and such. Feel free to ask her for help whenever you get lost, she's super nice!
Terrible. Goes way too fast and doesn't really help at all. Would never recommend if you are trying to actually learn or understand a concept. If you don't understand because she went to fast she says to memorize it. Also she has TERRIBLE handwriting.
This class is to prepare you for calcalus. It is suppose to be hard. Mrs. Hudgeons helped alot and was always available if I had questions.
Took her for elementary functions, and I recommend that everyone take her! She has quizzes about every other day but just do the online homework and homework she assigns and then you'll do good on the quizzes, gives reviews for the test, only 3 but they are fairly easy. Do the online homework!! it's a large portion of your grade
Terrible professor. She talks incredibly fast, and doesn't bother explain concepts completely. I spent the majority of the time studying concepts at home on my own, as I learned nothing in this course!
Math is my subject and I've never struggled in a math course before this one. Goes way too fast and the lectures are straight from the book nothing more. Homework is normally a grade booster but calcportal is VERY hard and nothing like the quizzes or tests. Tutored every day and still could not pass and had no choice but to drop.
Hudgeons is unhelpful in a big kinda way. Math has always been easy for me, but I, along with everyone in the class, have been getting very low test scores. She blatantly claimed that 70 or lower is an average test score and that the class doing poorly is not her fault. She expects her students to receive C's and D's as a general rule.
I'm horrible at math but currently have an A. I work extremely hard and often seek help from her and my classmates. You will not pass if you don't show up to class, but she doesn't take attendance. She doesn't check homework and the only grades are quizzes and tests. Show up, do the homework, and get help if you need an A or B can be managed.
If you do not want non stop work, homework, quizzes or test DO NOT take her class. She is willing to help but she moves very fast and she never just gives you a break. It is best to attend her class everyday because you will have quizzes most likely every week . She is not a bad teacher but if you have better or other options pick them.
-Took her for College Mathematics and it was so easy! -She explains things great. If you take notes your good. - If you have questions go to her office she is SUPER nice and if she knows you are trying she will help you out at the end out the semester - Doesn't take attendance or grade homework but it helps with weekly quizzes
BY FAR the nicest professor I've ever had. she expects a lot and does give a lot of homework with weekly quizzes but if you show up everyday and do the homework then you will not have much of a problem with the quizzes and tests. She is always willing to help and shes really good at explaining.
Hudgeons is a great teacher, some may say that her teaching style is fast, just tell her to slow down. She explains the problems in detail. Her tests are not too bad, go to class and you will be fine.
Not a lot of tests, a new quiz every week. A lot of homework. A lot.
Ms Hudgeons was overall a good teacher. We had quizzes at the end of each week relating to the homework done that week. Homework was done online. Her test were a bit challenging but if you have done the homework and can think outside the box a little you will ace the test. The only problem I had with her is that she goes kind of fast in class.
This class is time-consuming,lots of homework, weekly quizzes, and 5 exams. She is a great professor, lectures are organized and easy to understand. DOT NOT SKIP HER CLASS! Miss one class and you'll miss the entire chapter. She gives reviews for the exams, work on them and ask her questions and you will do good.
This class was tough for me. She is a good teacher but doesn't help you if you need 1 on 1 with her. She goes too fast and covers way too much in one class. DO NOT BUY A TEXTBOOK. Use the online one!! You have 1 to 2 quizzes every week and a lot of tests. Homework every night and its due the next day. Does give some tiny extra credit for her tests.
Mrs. Hudgeons is nice & genuine. I have no complaints on her. Her lectures are pre-set to where she has to cover a lot of material in 1 class. WAY too FAST paced. Weekly quizzes & 5 tests, along with online homework and workbook pages to turn in everyday ( weekends also). I have issues with math already and have to re-teach myself once I get home.
Mrs. Hudgeons expects you to be on top of things the whole semester. Her test are pretty tough if you skip class often and ask questions. Attendance is not mandatory but you would be saving yourself plenty of time studying outside of the classroom. Gives worksheets and online homework, mini exams every Friday and 4-5 test through the semester.
Hudgeons is a nice person, but she talks WAY too fast and will not stop or slow down for you. It's very difficult to let the information soak because you don't have any time to do that. Her tests and quizzes are very difficult. Don't buy the textbook. Won't use. Will have to teach yourself if you take her. Do not take her if you learn slowly.
The Math Center was more of a professor than she was. She would constantly complain to the class to "come in her office hours if you need help." When I came into her office hours, she loved to make small talk. When I asked questions for more help, her response was "We already covered this in class already.." Please save your GPA, don't take her.
DO NOT Take Her, I can't express it enough !
Hudgeons is a good professor. If you have questions in class she will gladly answer them. She grades easy on homework and quizzes and gives study guides for the test. She talks kind of fast in lecture but she will slow down if you ask. All you have to do is speak up and you will get a decent grade
Homework is due almost every class. Skip class you'll miss her fast pace lectures. I learned more at tutoring from others. Small quizzes every week unless a test. She doesn't offer extra credit either
I have never had a good math teacher in all my years of schooling, but her class was set up perfectly and she's so willing to help
Such a bad experience with this professor. Never had a professor who was bad at teaching math. She goes at a fast pace.... if you can't keep up, oh well. Lots of homework. Tests are not multiple choice. Tests are really hard. She writes on chalkboard and erases it within 30 seconds. Horrible teacher. Super hard class with her teaching. Don't take!!
I've never really been good at math and this professor is awesome at teaching. Make sure you go to class. If you don't you will get lost. Gives out note handouts, so you only need the book for help and homework. Like that it was written book homework and not online. Super sweet lady!! And if she see your trying, she will pass you.
She is so funny & loves trig. You have to pay $100 for hw & textbook. Has quizzes every week but they're simple. Her test are like her reviews. If you don't understand, ASK QUESTIONS, she will help. Best math teacher I've had. If you miss class, her notes come straight from the textbook
i wont say she doesn't know her stuff but i would say shes not a very good teacher. if math is not your strong point and you need a teacher who'll actually take time to explain instead of talk to you like you already know it, do'nt take her, if you're a quick learner with math then go ahead, she talks way too fast and her tests are easy to fail.
She moves way too quickly through the material. It feels as if she went through a chapter a week. She assigns homework almost every night. Most of the content on the online homework assignments was not taught in class. She skips out on opportunities to give partial credit. I do not recommend taking her class.
Math 1410 is an already REALLY hard class, but, I don't think I would've gotten an 'A' if Mrs. Hudgeons wasn't my teacher. There is a lot of homework (like a lot) - worksheets + online almost everyday, but it all has a purpose/is for practice. If you want to slack off, don't take this class, it's hard and you have to be committed. But she is great!
I needed this class for my major and got Hudgeons as a last minute option because all other classes were full. We had 3-5 online homework's a week plus a paper homework assignment due every Friday. Her tests were nothing like what was taught in class. She goes extremely fast and doesn't do well with teaching different methods.
Professor H is an awesome math teacher. She moves a little fast but doesnt mind slowing down when asked. She does assign online homework but it is pretty self explanatory if you use the notes. If you maintain an A, you dont need to take the final. BEWARE: The online homework site she uses cost $100. It is mandatory
Cheri was a really amazing professor. If you struggle with math, she's always ready to answer your questions. If the content gets too difficult though, I would suggest going to math tutoring to learn different ways to do the problems. Sometimes she doesn't teach the easiest way to do the problems. GO TO CLASS. You won't get an A if you don't go.
In this class, your exams matter the most. There are 4 exams plus the final. There are also several quizzes. She drops a couple quizzes and drops your lowest exam grade. The online homework is easy Make sure you study because its either you make it or you break it. She is a solid professor. If you pay attention and participate you should do well.
She tends to go fast sometimes but if you speak up she will slow down and repeat. Cares about her students. Gives a lot homework but if you actually do the homework it will help you pass the quizzes and exams. Review sheets and quizzes help tremendously with prepping for the tests. Will drop lowest quiz grade. Only grades hw, quizzes and exams.
She's a good person and is very understanding if you need the online work due date pushed, but she doesn't teach the content, half she never even mentions!, and the book seems like pure jibberish. Go to the math lab! it helps. She gives small extra credit, a few quiz and then up to 5pts an exam from math lab. Be ready to pay to do homework online.
Hudgens is an okay teacher, I have honestly learned a lot from watching youtube videos for this class. If you skip class when you have a quiz don't expect to try & take the quiz cause she prob wont let you. She goes super fast in lecture & reads off the notes. I am currently at a 68 & had asked her if she could help me get to a 70 & she said no.
Grades with partial credit, a lot of online HW. Very straight forward in the lectures, but will explain if you ask or slow down if shes talking too fast. Otherwise, a good math professor.
She will take off points for the littlest things (EX: if you answer in a decimal and not a fraction she will take off points) the class is extremely fast but she always makes sure that her students understand the material. Her office hours truly help and attendance is not mandatory if you do the homework that is assigned every night. Amazing!
Does the lectures like a script and doesnt check for understanding, will also give a test a week before final, probably the most difficult math professor on campus, no extra credit whatsoever
Drops one test, has weekly quizzes but drops two, listen in class and do the homework and you'll get an A. Very good at answering your questions and changing a grade if you think she graded it wrong.
Honestly was an easy class if you are ok with math. show up and learn and you'll get an A
I loved her as a teacher, she was very good at giving students options on how to do math, and was willing to work with them. She is a great professor who takes care of her students with clear lectures on what to do with a lot of examples to play out. She gives you packets in advance that she will be doing in class.
By far the best professor I have taken! Always available during office hours & REALLY helps. She does not make you feel dumb when you ask questions! As long as you finish the homework & reviews, there is no reason why you should not make an A. Exams are all written but easy if you study. Some quizzes are dropped. Really understanding! Take her!!
She is probably the nicest math teacher u will ever have that will explain everything and not make u feel dumb for asking. However her class does have a decent amount of homework, quizzes and tests.
Do your self a favor and DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!
The professor herself is pretty nice and allows you to ask questions, but she doesn't respond to emails. 2 homeworks weekly, one week you take notes and the week after that you take an exam. Tests are 80% and homework is 20%, the homework is much harder than the notes and the exams but she drops one test and two homeworks, she does take attendance.
In my class a lot of us don't like her because when she teaches she goes way too fast to understand and you can't grasp the topic. She doesn't really explain how you get numbers unless you ask her.
She's super laidback, but try to figure stuff out on your own before you ask a question. The homework is way harder than the tests, and she gives partial credit on test questions. Feel free to correct her if she makes a mistake. She goes over the material really quickly towards the end so take notes. Lots of study days too.
I was on edge before taking her because she was a 3.5/5. However if you put in the effort to pass you will do great. I thought I was terrible at math and figured Id either barely pass or absolutely fail but I ended this class with a 93. She does teach a bit fast but will re explain if you ask her to. She is very respected and I would take her agai
She is a good professor for math but her lecture over the material can be difficult to understand. It was pretty easy as long as you study. Honestly, if you don't know each step of the problem for the review questions, you won't pass the test. The test cut and paste of the review with different numbers.
As long that you put in work to this class and study the review that she gives you. You should be good to pass this class. Theres 7 exams and at the end she will drop the lowest one.
Mrs. Hudgeons is a great professor. The class and material is just super tough. Make sure you pay attention in class!!! She does teach a bit fast but that's because of how much material there is.
A kind teacher, however, she speeds through notes very fast and notes are necessary to pass this class. Expect lots of homework and a test after each chapter, but usually the test is just like the review she puts out. She drops the lowest test grade after the semester ends! Overall, if you take notes during class and study the reviews youll pass!
If math is not your strong suit do not take her class. She teaches at the speed of light and barely checks for understanding. You will take 7 tests that basically make up your entire grade and you only get 1.5 weeks to learn the material. She does not offer extra credit either nor will she be flexible with your final grade. I
Professor Hudgens is alright, but she does speed through her lectures. As long as you keep up with the homework, and study the reviews she gives before each exam, you should be fine. The reviews are like the exams, but she changes the numbers. She gives a lot of homework and there are 7 exams.
Mrs Hudgeons was a great professor. It was a lot of material to learn for the tests with little time, but she made sure to go through each problem when asked for more clarification. Math was not my strong suit, but her teaching actually helped me strength my math knowledge.
Ms. Hudgeons is absolutely awesome. I loved her teaching style and explanation of material. Study the material and pay attention and you cannot fail her class. Easy! Taking her for Trig in the Spring, too! She tells you what sections each quiz will be on, so review them before and you could get an easy 10 every time.
Professor Hudgeons was an amazing professor. I had to retake math 1314 due to a very bad professor I had the previous time I had taken it. I also am not very good at math but Prof. Hudgeons made it very easy for me. She was always willing to help me with any questions I had during her office hours. I would definitely recommend taking her.
Professor Hudgeons was a great instructor. I will be the first to admit I am horrible at math and hate it, but she made it tolerable and was always willing to help. She will answer any questions you have, and will even stop teaching to help you. I would recommend anybody who sucks at math or hates it to take Professor Hudgeons.
50/50 type of teacher, would recommend memorizing the review because they are super similar to the test. the hw is usually 15+ questions, so go to tutoring in the library!
Unless youre already great at math, I would recommend you stay away from her. Her goal is to get through the chapter, wether you understand or not is on you. She will stop and answer questions, but with a degrading attitude. She teaches as if you are an honor student, she talks incredibly fast and erases the board almost immediately. Good luck!
Professor Hudgeons is a very caring math teacher! She's accessible outside of class if you have any questions on assignments, previous quizzes and exams. Lots of homework, and attendance is highly recommended if you find Trig super complex. Each Friday she has a quiz that will help for the exam!
I took her for Pre-calculus, as well. I definitively preferred her precalc class over trig, but I think that is mostly due to the different material. I found it near impossible to stay awake and focused in trig lectures. It is so boring and confusing, at times. As a person, Ms. Hudgeons is easily the best math prof I've had yet.
Professor Hudgeons is the best math professor I have come across at Sam. She is a very easy grader and sets up her class for you to pass, unless you dont show up or care, you will fail. Her lectures are very fast but ask questions! She reviews over past exams to help you understand and her final is literally all past exams!! Take her!
Her class is fairly easy. We have a quiz every Friday, but if your not good with math the class is definitely not going to be easy for you. You'll definitely need to practice and pay attention to the homework. Her lecture go WAY too fast, but she'll definitely help you. She even helped me when I retook my SAT.
I am not a math person and this class was super easy. Your grade is based on homework and tests (the lowest test grade is dropped.)
She was a great teach, even for someone that isnt great at math. She is very willing to help you as long as she can see that you are putting in effort.
She is very caring and very vocal when it comes to what amount of effort you need to succeed in her class. She teaches the content very well and it is more than easy to understand how to do math problems. There is a bit of homework but it is online through ALEKS and the system will help you understand the content.
One of the best professors! Super easy to talk to and the class is awesome, super chill about lectures, homework every week and can be easy or hard depending on your previous knowledge on the course. Great beginner class, totally recommend to freshman.
Was an okay class but doesn't teach very well. She kind of does the problem for you and does it multiple times thinking its being "taught". Very fast paced, but very monotone teaching style. Work together on quizzes most times but the tests suck.
I had a personal issue with this professor. My phone was taken up because I was taking pictures of the Fast paced Work that was being written and erased so fast on the white board. I would look at the pictures on my phone and right the notes down and was not just on my phone.I write this down to say she is not my Type of Professor,For me Personally
She is very fast pace and does the equation once and doesn't explain how she got the answer or the steps unless you speak up and ask. Will sometimes be sarcastic with her responses. She wasn't the professor for me personally. Weekly quizzes and homework, she sometimes lets you take the quiz as a class. Gives partial credit on tests.
She was a good professor I just recommend not skipping class, she covers a lot of material in one sitting. She gives practice tests before each exam which are EXTREMELY helpful. There were weekly quizzes, but we got to work together most of the time. Just complete the weekly homework and the practice tests before exams and you'll be fine.
Hard class good professor.
Professor Hudgeons is a very caring professor. I am very bad at math, and I was able to make a B+ in this class. As long as you do the homeworks before the quizzes, then those are easy. DO THE TEST REVIEWS! They are long, but the reviews are exactly like the exams, just with different numbers. They were SUPER helpful. The final is cumulative.
Very fast paced and didn't quite explain how she got her answers. Weekly quizzes that you can work together as a class and a moderate amount of homework. Do the test reviews as they are very similar to the exams! There are 4 exams and a final that is cumulative. Tutoring carried me through this class. Overall an okay professor
If math isn't your strong suit then I wouldn't take her class. She goes very quick and does a TON of lecture in a day. When she's lecturing she does a lot of the math in her head so it's difficult. Also there is weekly homework and quizzes (can work in groups) but there are exams every other week that you cannot use notes on.
She is a very good professor, overall, lectures can be easy to understand but can get hard. If it's a face-to-face lecture, I recommend printing out the notes so you can do your own personal notes. Exams are challenging but are based on quizzes and notes. Reviews are the same as exams. Study sessions are available, take those for granted.
She's so sweet and easy to follow during lecture. she gives weekly homework and a group quiz. Exams are in person, and there is a final. She gives extra credit every test and drops one quiz and two homework assignments. Also, she is an easy grader. Definitely would retake her for pre-calc.
I love her. She does go through so much during the lectures, but I found it easy to go along with. I recommend printing out all the units beforehand. Ask questions, she's thorough at answering. Algebra sessions for one point each on the exams. Open group quizzes. I love Pre-Cal but get ready for weekly homework.
I really enjoyed her as a professor, she's fast paced but gets her point across pretty well. Very easy grading you get 4 exams plus your final, about 6 quizzes throughout the semester, and a lot of homework but its doable. Overall I recommend.
She gave weekly homework that was over material from lecture. As someone who struggles at math I can honestly say she is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. She is always willing to help or contact outside of class if you are confused or struggling with a concept.
