Mrs. Spiegel is a very personable person. She knows what she is talking about and isnt affraid to answer your ?'s. She is one of the nicest teachers I have had...ever...and she makes the class alot of fun too. Her assingments can be a little off beat, but certainly pertain to English- I had her twice and would take her again if I needed to.

Mrs. Spiegel is a great teacher, and one of the nicest,most laid back I have met. She keeps class interesting and fun. She sometimes gets off topic and can be a little confusing at first but just ask her to clarify what she wants and she is more than happy to. Easy A or B, I highly recommend taking her class.

Very helpful and straight forward. Strict rules but it's for your own benefit. Always able to answer any questions. Assignments are fair and gives a very reasonable amount of time to complete them. Lots of work done through blackboard so dont even worry about loosing papers, their available online. If you want to make english interesting take her.

cheri is a great teacher ,very outgoing and fun,gives plenty of time for assignments,the assignments are very helpful for learning the course,i gote an A but i worked hard for it so its not necessarily an easy course.

Nice lady. she knows a lot about english and tries to teach the material in a fun way. Just do your papers and you'll do fine

I really enjoyed her. She was very nice and shes also pretty young. Her papers are challenging but also actually fun to do. One of our papers, we had to construct our own comic which was cool. I liked her a lot!!!

I actually took her 111 and 112 and I got A's in both. She knows her English and makes class fun.

Cheri is extremely helpful and cares about her students. She is very willing to help and allows plenty of time for assignments. Cheri makes English class enjoyable, I never felt tired in her class. I truly looked forward to this class. This is not your average English course, she knows how to "think outside the box".

Great Teacher! She cares about her students. May give a lot of work but you are in college level english now. Best English teacher at NOVA by far!

first off anyone that says she is hard is a total dumbass.before this class i hated writing papers,but after taking her class i love writing papers.She is mad cool,loves what she does, helps you at anytime,AND gives you help on every single paper,.Trust me TAKE HER CLASS,SHE IS PROBLY THE COOLEST TEACHER AT NOVA,you WILL LOVE HER

Great Professor! Definitely take her! She is very nice and always willing to help you. She is also understanding but you just have to make sure to talk to her. Do your work and you'll get a good grade.

She is nice and wants you to succeed if you show her that you actually care. She makes all her classes interesting by thinking outside the box. She is smart and knows what she is talking about. Just do the work on the assigned day and you will be fine.

Prof Cheri is a really good teacher. She is made for people who actually want to learn something, rather than just simply letting you off easy. She teaches in a manner that will make things easy for you,and you will no longer have to worry about how terrible you are at english, because by the end of the course you will be a genius in English!

took her for ENG 111 and 112. She was awesome! she's very helpful and DOES answer her emails! She's funny and just down to earth... know's where the students are coming from! take her!

The BEST! I was so afraid of English before this class. Prof. Spiegel made this class fun and challeging at the same time. Not a free pass, but you will do well if you complete your assignments and pay attention. I took the hybrid 111 and found the on-line work (discussions) pretty easy. I won't take anyone else for 112. Can't wait!

Her Class is definitely for someone who wants to learn .She has great class discussions, especially on topics where everyone can participate. In terms of the coursework,she likes to give out quizzes on stuff from the book, but the quizzes are easy as long as you do the reading!!! She provides small assigments that help you boost your grade.

All her assignments are easy, and helpful for getting a good grade. The one thing she definitely wants is for students to improve their writing skills, so make sure you do a decent job on the essays( approx 3-4 in the semester) She grades the essays seriously. If you do a good job expect a B or higher on them.

If your taking 112, don't get intimated by the idea of doing a documentary. You get to do it in a group, and it's not so bad.

Prof Spiegel is so nice. You definitely earn your grade if you work hard. I took this as a hybrid class and was kind of intimidated bc i dont like taking online, but she actually made it easy. She does grade kind of difficult, but she always is willing to help you out. She's funny too.

Wonderful teacher who is both funny and very passionate for English. Her class is engaging and informative. I came into class thinking it was going to be the hardest, but it ended up being my easiest. Not because she makes it easy, but because I enjoyed the way she taught it. Do the work and you'll do just fine.

I took this class online and she was just woderful! She answered all of my questions immediately- I'm taking from her iphone immediately! I went in to get extra help and she was understanding, patient and very real. I recommend her to anyone who tells me they need to take 112. Online was great- I hear any English in person is dull.

Ok so she was absent most of the semester due to kidney stones. But the times we actually had class were great. She has a lot of reading quizzes. She gave us one on the 2nd class. But its open-notebook so write notes as your read.Everything else she gives you the oppurtunity to correct. She takes forever to hand you back your essays but whatever...

She's a wonderful teacher. She makes class fun with her sense of humor, and she cares about her student. I would recommend her.

I took her class a year ago and she is an excellent professor. If you read the book and take analyst the passage you'd understand why she assign it. She is awesome and work with students to succeed in her class. My respect to her...I totally recommend her I've learn so much in her class.

Absolutely awesome. Helpful, understanding, enthusiastic, laid back about the little unimportant details, but strict enough regarding what MATTERS, so that you do actually LEARN. The perfect teacher.

Professor Spiegel was a wonderful teacher. She teaches with humor. If you complete your assignments, this class is easy. She grades your paper while you wait and gives immediate feedback. Some of the assignments could be challenging, You have to complete 5 essays,getting an A is not easy. But its worth it and I learned a lot in the end.

Amazing professor! Lectures are always interesting because of her great personality. She is very clear and lenient with assignments. EASY A class as long as you do all the assignments and show up for class. She doesnt ask for much, so take the time to do her work. I recommend everyone to take her.

Mrs. spiegel is a very nice and outgoing professor who is very lenient when it comes to grading papers. Also, her responses are very easy! 4 essays and daily responses and thats all! RECOMMEND HER!! TAKING HER FOR 112

She's such a nice lady She treats everybody like friends She's not easy, but her feedback for papers is clear and makes you think. She always smiles. A lil disorganized, but she apologizes for it.

I loved Dr. Spiegel! She makes the class interesting and is so funny! Although the material is boring, her positive attitude makes the class feel shorter. Assignments are easy 100s and there are only 3 essays. She definitely focuses on how to make you a stronger writer. If you have the opportunity to take her, DO IT! You won't regret!

Amazing professor. Expect an dignostic on the first class. Really helpfull during office hours especially during the time for essay and will go with you 1-1 t o help fix your essay.

She is so funny and also very helpful. I felt bad because for a lot of our classes, people didn't show up. However, one of the easiest and fun English classes I've had in a while! If you're not a good writer, she does everything she can to be available to you for help.

Loved her ENG 111 class so I'm taking her for 112. Honestly, one of the best teachers I've ever had. She is super helpful and makes the material interesting! We only had 3 essays throughout the semester, and there were no tests.

Dr. Spiegel is one of my favorite professors at NOVA. I took her for ENG 111 and took her for 112. She is the sweetest and chillest professor. She is always there if you need help. I know most people won't take her because her class is scheduled on Friday's, but she's worth it. Take her, you won't regret it!

Dr. Spiegel is a phenomenal professor. Took her for 111 and got an A, currently taking her for 112. Both classes have HW due every class period (M/W/F), but the HW is graded leniently and only takes an hour usually. She is not very difficult and definitely works with you. Awesome personality & lectures! Participation in class is def expected.

She is beyond cool and caring. Out of about 45 classes, there were maybe about 5 classes were homework wasn't assigned. TONS of reading and writing assignments. It was annoying but it definitely helped my writing improve. After major essays, you meet with her in a conference to get your grade and she gives good feedback.

I would have to say she is a really cool professor, I took her for English and she made it fun. Be aware, everything is online (Google docs), you will submit all your assignments online such as hw, essays etc. I would take her again if I had the choice.

Her lectures are not boring. She is funny, friendly, and inclusive. Even if your answer is out there she always makes you feel right and included while teaching through it. she counts on class participation which is awesome because you arent just listening to a monologue. I will absolutely take from her again.

Dr spiegel is a very passionate about literature. She makes it fun and not boring. There are 4 books you read during semester with some online reading, but they are easy and interesting . She grades easy as long as you dont completely slack and turn in horrible work. Take home final. Open note mid term. All in all, this class is an easy B.

Dr. Spiegel is a great English professor. Get ready to read and write a lot if you decide to take her. She will make you work for it. 2 essays, the final is take-home. I did learn a lot from her class even though she assigned a lot of writing assignments.

I haven't even finished the semester yet, but I had to review Dr. Spiegel. I've never had such an enjoyable class before. She has a great sense of humor and as long as you do the readings, you'll do just fine. I had the 8wk class, so we had a quiz every week, but they were super easy. If you're thinking of Dr. Spiegel, I can't recommend her enough.

Professor Spiegel was amazing! Our class was mainly on essays we had but she always gave great feedback on essays and was super helpful if you needed help on something. I'm taking her again for ENG 112 because she's helped me improve on my writing. Also she's so funny.

Dr. Spiegel is without a doubt the BEST professor I've had in my life. I took her 112 and loved it so much that I took her two 8-week film/lit classes. In 112, she incorporated music into our studies! All of her classes are extremely engaging. She is creative, passionate, hilarious, and has made my college experience so worthwhile. TAKE HER CLASS!!

Dr. Spiegel is a great English/Writing professor. You will learn a lot from her. She is clear with what she expects and makes her lectures interesting. She really cares about her students. She doesn't overload you with busy work. You will have to do a decent amount of writing but she is always willing to give feedback before you submit.

TAKE HER. Dr Spiegel is honestly the best English teacher I have had. She cares a lot and will work with you or meet you halfway reasonably. Her class is participation heavy because you are eventually graded for it, but each class is a new mystery and never bores. There are materials to read and watch but it is very manageable. She is perfect!

This professor is amazing. She cares about everyone, she wants everyone to do the best work they can, and she meets with students after essays to discuss how they did. She truly is the best English professor ever!! She is also a gift to the college.

Professor Spiegel has been one of the best teachers I had. Her classes are super engaging and you are expected to participate in the discussions. It might seem that there is a lot of writing and homework to do but you just need to make sure you get them done on time. She cares a lot about her students and surely gives good feedback on essays.

Cheri is amazing. I LOVED her class, she made me really dig deep. You will learn a lot about yourself in her class. She is VERY caring and she will be there for you if you need her via zoom (due to COVID). She will work with you as much as you need her and she will be respectfully real with you as well. PARTICIPATE and TURN IN YOUR STUFF ON TIME!

She is truly one of the best English professors I have had. She really makes you dive deep and engage with the material. She gives a lot of fluff work which maintains your grade if you do those assignments but can drop if not handed in. In her class I would argue it is easy to get a C, B, but for an A she makes you work for which is awesome. DO IT!

Professor Spiegel was AMAZING. Her class was interesting and fun. There was quite a bit of work, but it was such an interesting subject that you looked forward to doing it. Its a lot of reading and movies, but the conversations are really engaging. I would take all of her classes if I could.

Cheri is incredible. The most impactful professor that I have worked with. Her classes will make you dive deep and are enjoyable. She is supportive and there to help! In all of the classes I have taken with her I have learned so much and been able to build my skills and gain confidence. Do the work, be open to feedback, you'll be so happy you did!

If you need the grades and knowledge she is the one!

Dr. Spiegel is a wonderful teacher. Although she does assign a lot of work, it is really easy, but just time consuming. The final is basically the papers you work on throughout this course in its final version. The feedbacks she gives is a little hard to wrap your head around, but as long as you as for clarification you'll be fine.

This is one of the best English professors on the Annandale campus. She wants the best for you, won't allow you to fail, and she actually cares about her students. I came into her class a lazy writer and came out a purposeful writer.

She is the funniest and most easy going teacher. Her class is so fun and her assignments revolve around you so there is no wrong answer. Very easy to pass as long as you show up. Very understanding and has a grace period for late work. The book was okay but the discussions were fun. Best professor I've ever had

I really love professor spiegel, She's definitely my favorite professor at Nova so far. what i love about her is how she gives feedback on all our assignments, helping us understand where we can improve. While she does give a lot of homework, I find it a bit too easy. I highly recommend taking her classes for English 111 and 112 as well.

Take Her!!!! Amazing professor. Engaging lectures, cares about what she teaches, guides you along the steps of bigger projects. I had some outside difficulties during the class and ended up doing poorly, but she was was extremely understanding and supportive throughout the entire class. 100% would take her again

Prof. Spiegel is sincere, and passionate about rhetoric. She gives amazing lectures and urges engagement and participation in her class. She allows resubmissions for you to get a better grade. Prof. Spiegel is a wonderful professor who wants her students to succeed outside of class.
