Good at understanding what you are having trouble with. Easy tests-- let us use a 3x5 note card on all of them, 1/2 sheet of paper on the final. On the down side she often ended class early and we fell behind. Sometimes I thought she didnt like teaching. She is nice enough though.
I think this woman hates her job. I would not recommend her. You'd be better of reading the book than going to lecture.
Oh my god! She was the worst teacher I've ever had. She was boring and sucked! She hated her job and don't care much about anyone's learning. Not a good teacher. Above all, she suck at the subject and a bad teacher to be educating students.
i was an A student in the equivalence of this class in high school, however, she didn't seem very clear and i was confused for most of the class. i didn't enjoy going to class... basically, this class ruined my experience of mathematics all together.
Hopefully she doesn't have another baby. The sub was horrible, but Cheri made up an extra take home exam to help bring our grades up.
She is nice and cool, but is sometimes confusing. I had a hard time understanding her way of teaching. She seemed kind of tired all the time. There were times when I felt like she didn't want to help, because she sort gave me wierd looks. Although, she was very organized and seems to know alot about math.
Began the semester by stating that she didn't want to be there any more than we did and if they had paid her to take the entire semester off, she would have. 'Nuff said.
She knows her math, but doesn't know how to teach it clearly. She's often late to class and forgets her teaching material. I would not recommend taking her class, unless you like being seriously confused.

rude professor. when she teach, she expects you to understand where she is coming from. She is always late to class except that one day where she was being evaluated by the dean. Her homeworks are very easy but test are extrmely hard. I honestly dont know where she gets her test questions because they look nothing like homework nor notes.
I had her for precalc and she was really good. I don't understand the negative reviews. I guess most of the class was review for me but I still felt like I learned stuff or would have learned it had I not known it already. Cheerful and funny. Frequently late at the beginning of the year but became more prompt as the semester went on. I'd take again
She was a very good instructor. She explains the problems clearly and make it easy to understand. She was very helpful and her tests are very easy. If i had a chance i would have taken her for my other math classes.
SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST MATH TEACHERS I HAVE EVER HAD. SHE KNOWS IT ALL. TEST ARE VERY EASY!! SHE IS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP YOU!!! SHE ROCKS!!!!
she's grt at teaching, though u have to pay attention and go to class or else u'll be lost, exams are easy if u do the work. alot better than most math. prof. at NHCC. shes makes u want to learn and takes her time.
she seems well versed in the topic she is teaching though when she is explaining she does stutter and not explain very clearly. h/work very easy and doesnt reflect the class material but helps boost grade. this class was a review for me but i felt her teaching wasnt very good. overall nice teacher and very approachable.
She is not timely but expect timeliness
She is very good at describing things and her test questions are usually the questions we ask for help on in class or something like it. If you do the homework she gives you, you will do fine on the quizzes and tests. But don't expect to go in there, listen, and do well. You do have to do SOME problems.
She suck at lecturing on trig. Don't ask her to do a problem because she will only do half the problem and you end up doing the rest. What happen if you don't know how? Then you're doom. She rush through notes and lecture.you end up spending lots of time in MRC. Quizes every week at limited time and no graphing calcualtor. good luck if you take her
Don't take her in an online format unless you want to be extremely frustrated! She does not grade assignments or post notes on time and constantly makes excuses that her family and personal life prevents her from doing her job. She randomly changes due dates at the last minute, and is a poor communicator.
She is allright. You can have notecards some tests, which are not very hard. The quizes every week are kind of a pain but it is the easiest math class I have taken in a while. Trig
She always had an excuse as to why she didnt get the lecture notes posted before we had to take the test. And an excuse for why she didnt get our correct homework back before the test.
I liked her as a person and she was very smart but she was NOT a good teacher, bad communication for me and unorganized notes, i spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to organize my notes for understanding she left problems half finished i ended up withdrawing from her class
If you do not like math, and you have to take statistics do NOT take her. She is monotone and boring and seems to find teaching boring as well. The only time I understood anything that was going on was the month we had a substitute b/c Cheri went on maternity leave... best month of the semester.
Test do not cover what was assigned by MathXL or her online assignments. Her notes are very confusing. She did not return most of the homework we were assigned until midterm/final day. I would not take her class again.

Horrible teacher didn't feel like she knew what she was actually doing. Tests aren't based off homework on XL or the book. You get your homework back way late. Horrible learning environment, won't ever take her again.
If you can teach yourself and know that she does not want be there because her toddler is at home, go ahead and take it. If you want to learn from a teacher who wnats to teach take someone else.
I took this class recently and within 2 weeks, out of 32 people in the class,there was about 17 of us left. Trust me the number just kept going down. I felt she had no desire to be there, let alone even try to be helpful or taking a moment to see if anyone was having trouble understanding the curiculum. She was not halpful or even nice-BAD TEACHER!
I took college algebra during the summer of 2010. She was late for the first class. She did not seem like she wanted to be there. Very blah. I did think it was great that the text book was not mandatory because of the online program we were using duplicated the text. She said the book was optional. Visiting her during office hours was not helpfu
I did not have a good time in this class at all. She wasn't helpful one bit and I never knew what my grade was or why I got the grade I did. Her group work assignments were awful, she would expect other classmates to help you and they would never respond to the questions. I have always been an A+ math student and I'm worried about failing. AWFUL
Worst math professor ever.
I was in Cheri Mahon's online trigonometry class. The lecture videos were pretty painful to watch. There was a lot of mumbling, etc. Instead I watched the videos on mathxl.com, which we used to complete assignments. I'd rather just take a class through mathxl.com, because she didn't contribute much.
Cheri is great! She handed out typed notes for each section, and we workout out all the examples w/ her as she did it on the overhead. Each class ended w/ small group work which helped to solidify what we just learned. Also a lot of easy points are available (many quizzes and lots of HW), She did a great job in a 6 week condensed course.
I liked Cheri, she is nice as a person, not arrogant as some are and prompt with feedback. She does talk a little too much but I'd do it too. so I just skip a few slides. Strict policy on deadlines. But again, a nice person, quite helpful.
Online lectures were horrid. Prof mumbled and rambled, hard to follow with all the "um"s. Awful technology for the lectures and why is the mic in the middle of the room? If I had to hear that guy suck his snot or cough one more time... It is by far the most painful class I've ever taken. Do not recommend.
The tests cover basically NOTHING done in the homeworks in the book. Test emphasizes crap that is barely even mentioned in the book. Not recommended.
Don't take her if you don't have to especially online. Her lectures aren't understandable and she takes forever to reply to emails.
Confusing online class. 3 seperate learning formats; book, math xl, homemade worksheets and tests. Lecture vids are a joke, tons of mumbling, content barely broach the ?'s on her worksheets. Math XL is source for homework and quizzes, which works, but they are weighted low and format is very different from homemade tests; result is sheer confusion.
This is the most difficult online class I've taken. Online lectures do not cover the questions on the worksheets. It's almost like taking two classes. One class on MathXL and one through the lectures. Cheri is a nice lady but very long winded, and it can get very confusing at times. I would not recommend her online class if you struggle with Math.
She was very helpful, and not horrible at all like some of the reviews are saying. The class uses Math XL, the textbook, and the written worksheets to prepare for the mega midterm and final. She gave us a review extremely similar to the exam. She makes herself very available for people who need help, and she has been eager to help.
I think Cheri is a good teacher. She's friendly and tries to help you if you are putting in effort. If you skip class or lie or don't try, don't expect any sympathy. She has kids and can spot an excuse from a mile away. As with ALL math classes, you have to go to class or you will get behind. This class is a lot of easy work that CAN'T be skipped.
Horrible! Her video lectures do not correspond with the work. Half of the time she does the problems wrong on the video and goes back and redoes them! She's teaching you think she would know how to do the problem! I should have taught myself online and placed into a higher course and saved myself the waste of money this class is!
I loved math. We were ALWAYS behind. Forget the syllabus calender! Never clear with students as to what was going on including what quiz we're taking today. Homework never linked up with what we learned in class. Don't ask her a question unless you know what you're doing. Be sure to watch out for errors in her lectures & on review pkt answer keys!!
Her lectures do not really help with the course. Also, my main complaint so far is that she has you print out worksheets for her ONLINE class and take pictures. I feel ridiculous taking photos of worksheets on my phone, when we already have online homework assignments to so it is taken care of. She also changes deadlines without notice.
Records lectures with a poor camera so it's mostly blurryawful sound quality with mistakes halfway through the problem. Makes you scan in worksheets despite being all online. Review problems do not prepare you for exams. Pretty much all of it is teach yourself. Overall miserable experience and I would definitely not take this class with her again.
I had her for Calc1, lecture videos are potato quality with a 2-3 second delay between the voice and video, FRUSTRATING. ALL YOU GET is a scientific calculator for two huge exams, midterm and final which adds up to 75% of your grade, 25% consists of tons of online HW, quizzes, worksheets. GOOD LUCK REMEMBERING EVERY FORMULA AND THEOREM FOR EXAMS!
Cherie was kind enough to give me access to the Webassign training even after I had withdrawn from class so that I could continue to study on my own. She has a large number of students to grade, and I appreciated this courtesy. She was always available during her office hours for questions, and was prompt in responding to emails.

Shes helpful you just have to ask, don't be shy. A lot of students are shy to ask questions-don't expect help if you don't ask... If you take her online make sure you print out a schedule and stick to it as some weeks will catch up on you if you are not always looking a week ahead. 2 tests study all material you learned prior & chptr question
worst teacher in my career. failed her calc class got an A in another. NEVER TAKE HER FOR CALC
If you are a strong math person then this class will be a breeze. But if you are taking this class to actually learn then Run. Her online class is very poor. The videos are of very poor quality and she does not explain the work. Most of her videos are mumbo jumbo and does not explain the work at all. Had to learn on my own. Not worth your money.
This instructor is one of the worst instructor I have ever had. She does not let student finish their question. She cuts them off and starts trying to answer the question, thinking that she knows exactly what the student is asking. She makes rude comments to students like "You should know this" & "It is so easy", well guess what? We are students.
Her lectures were hard to understand even if you already have some knowledge about the lecture. She is confusing in her lectures. Doesn't explain the problems very well. And always say things like "you should know this", "someone doesn't remember their prerequisite ....". Rude
This teacher is a very strict grader. I feel like she brings her personal life to work. She often complains that she's tired, then gets angry at students. The way she answers a student's question's makes them not want to ask questions in the future. She always says "You need to know this or know that, and if you don't, you won't pass" Very rude....
This material is far to important to be taught by someone who is so disconnected from reality. Horribly recorded lectures and a paranoia I have never seen from a professor before about students cheating. I cannot imagine having a worse professor. I highly suggest taking math with someone who is more well spoken and actually wants to teach.
Pretty boring, and uninteresting
Way too speedy with her lectures. Didn't take too much time to explain what she was doing step-by-step. Didn't give us much examples for when we did the homework online, so i spent more time looking at the examples from the help on MyMathLab than I did looking at the lecture notes being they were never enough to help with getting the homework done.

She expects you to know your prerequisite before you enter her class. Highly passive aggressive. Like really, really passive aggressive. Shes nice but she gets frustrated easily and will say that things are easy even though shes the teacher and you're the student. she still tries to explain it to you though. Good at teaching, bad at being friendly.
This was the second professor at Nchh that I had issues with. I thought I was just complaining too much, but reading the reviews confirms the reality, never understood what she was teaching because she moved too quickly. Couldnt ask for help without her making it seem like it was my fault that I didnt know or understand. Didnt care for students

Her lectures were not clear and hard to understand. she moved too quickly and she doesn't explain what she's doing . Homework problems was not covered in the class or lectures and the Test even nothing like you seen before. She's expect the student to know prerequisite before you start her class. And she's very strict in grading.
She was alright but not the best, gives you so many things and wont actually explain your loaded with hw and quizzes without help at times. She will extend deadlines or so. She is understanding but truly I failed because I cant understand her lectures and way of teaching through this pandemic
Im currently in this class and all I can say is RUN!! Do not choose her as your professor. I have never had a worse professor in my life. She says how things are so easy or so simple and it makes you feel dumb. Please if you care about your grades do not take her class.
If you only watch the youtube lectures its going to be way more difficult than it needs to be. The videos are fast and she doesnt explain much. Watch her zooms and things will make a lot more sense.
Professor Mahon is a kind person and she wants to see students succeed, but her lectures are so disorganized and unclear that it made the process of learning the material unnecessarily difficult. She often makes mistakes in her videos, sometimes very serious ones, and won't catch it until several minutes later. She should re-do these videos.

This is a tough class, no doubt. If you don't watch the lectures and apply yourself, it will be a hard class. She uses a ton of proper math terms that can get really confusing, so my advice for this class is to not overthink the concepts explained, and USE FLASH CARDS! She does care about your success. Memorize the formulas and you'll be fine.
Only take her classes if youre already confident with your math skills. Mahon uses a lot of technical terms, and her lecture-heavy classes make 1-on-1 interaction almost impossible. As someone who admittedly struggles with math, I ended up having to teach the class to myself at home, because Id fall behind in her tough lectures.
This professor is by far the worst teacher I have ever had in my educational career. Her online lecture are very disorganized, she made many mistake and failed to recognize and change them making learning material harder. She doesn't teach anything and expects everyone to know everything already. Over 95% of the class is basically teach yourself.
I took online Elementary Statistics and College Algebra with Professor Mahon. It's pretty straightforward. If I'm to be honest, I never needed to look at the lectures unless there was something I couldn't understand. The only reason I looked at the textbook was for equations and examples. It was the easiest way for me to learn, and it went well.
Homework is all online, but there are two in-person exams (midterm and final). They are pretty easy to study for; you get a review and it also helped me to look over the worksheets/homework. Memorizing all of the equations and a few examples before the exams helped a lot too. The final did not cover the entire course, only the second half.
i never rate professors until this. cheri grading system does not make any sense. how do we only have two exams the entire semester that are 75% of the grade? so if you fail one, you basically failed the whole course. and she does NOT give feedback on worksheets. literally worst course. do NOT recommend.
She is very rude and when I asked for help, she made me feel like an inconvenience and made me feel like I was stupid. Her lectures are highly disorganized, FULL of mistakes, and VERY CONFUSING. I do not recommend taking a class taught by Cheri Mahon. She makes a lot of mistakes during her lectures online and in person making it difficult to get things right. The lessons are short and don't cover all aspects of the problems at hand. One more thing to note going to her office and asking questions, she'll find a way to make you feel stupid.
If you're thinking about taking her online class don't. She teaches the class as if you know all the information before hand and acts like you're stupid if you ask a question.
Professor Mahon is a decent teacher at best. I've taken algebra twice in my life (Khan Academy and Kumon) and I struggled in this class. I didn't do any HW and missed some pop quizzes, but the way she explained made it difficult to learn. Although I needed review, I thought this class would be way easier. Pros: she drops lowest quizzes and test.

LISTEN TO THE OTHER RATINGS. Prof expects >20 hrs per week on hw. She's condescending & rude when asking for help. 3 exams are 75% of the grade and there's NO curving. 3 assignment due dates per week. The once full classroom of test takers dwindled down to 8 of us at the final. DON'T TAKE IF YOU NEED THIS CLASS AND AREN'T CONFIDENT IN CALC ALREADY
The worst professor I have ever had. Very rude and unapproachable. Tests are 75% of your grade which seems absurd to me. Absolutely no retakes or extra credit. Makes MANY mistakes in lectures but expects everyone else to be perfect. Homework load is INSANE given it is only 10% of our grade.. do NOT take her class. I made a huge mistake with her.

I do not recommend taking Cheri Mahon as a PROFESSOR for math!!, I took Precalculus with her, and I had to withdraw from this course because she explained the subject as if we knew the information before or we had learned it before, she overcomplicated the subject. then I took the course again with another professor and passed easily!!!!
I recommend do not take Cheri Mahon, it is mid-semester near the end and she is sort of a tough grader. She won't even give you credit for even trying on a problem. She is pretty rude at times and makes a lot of mistakes during lecture and sometimes even the review test. No one is perfect but she expects you to be perfect.
horrible. please don't take if you value your time and money (and being treated like a human being). Professors like this are the reason why students don't feel comfortable in college. We are here to learn and should not be expected to know everything. someone take away her teaching license.
Professor Mahon expects you to know the content without being taught. The online lecture videos are awful to learn from and the exams are impossibly hard. majority of grade was exams
Minimum Lecture times, difficult to understand her Lectures. Lack of communication, not giving feedback. Doesn't have a good attitude when students ask questions. Expect students to know more when she did not explaining during the lectures.

Professor Mahon's class was a challenging one, but with help from resources like Unstuck AI, I was able to get a decent grade. The workload was heavy, but I found the textbook and office hours useful.
This professor was so rude to me. also there is a lot of work and its probably the worst class I've had so far

Her lectures felt so long. I have classes with longer lectures but the way she explained things and did her work made me check my phone every second to see if it was time to leave. Horrible at helping you and answering questions. She expects you to know things that weren't covered in lecture and gets mad when nobody in the class can answer.
Prof Mahon does a bad job at explaining things and then gets mad that we don't know them.
The WORST math teacher i've had in my entire life, I am amazing at math usually but with professor Mahon I did terribly. Her lectures were completely useless and hard to understand, tests were impossibly hard and were graded EXTREMELY tough. I would not recommend anyone to take this class online/in person. BEWARE
