Cheri Wolf is an incompetent educator. Her lecture methods are inefficient (it's impossible to take notes). She does not answer emails, has unclear grading criteria/instructions, she does not put in grades, and she does not stick to her office hours; I have been unable to reach her outside of class in the 15 weeks I've had her as a teacher.
This class is easy. Doing well on the homework assignments makes studying for tests less stressful. It is worth it to do homework assignments over again until you get 100% because it will allow you to not do as well on tests. Class isn't mandatory but it can help with knowing how to do specifics in the homework.
Cheri is an awful teacher. Don't even bother wasting your time showing up to class, you learn nothing. Lab is a waste of time too, basically the class is self taught. Have any questions? Don't bother emailing her, that's a waste of your time too. She won't respond.
She teaches you nothing in lecture, so you have to teach yourself with all the busy work that is assigned. Also studying for exams are difficult and even if you can there is stuff on there you couldnt have studied. She is not helpful and like to talk down to you. You can get a good grade because of all the homework but a awful otherwise.
I advise you to take this class at community college or online. Exam questions are on obscure vocab and little steps from the labs that you complete every week. It can easily be an EASY A if you like to spend more time sitting in a computer lab, or it can be an EASY A at your community college or online! Also, she looses scantrons all the time.
Go to class and she goes through the homework, for half of the class you can skip lecture and lab and get the homework done easily in a couple of hours. She does give a minimum of 2 hours homework every week but it is easy. There are a ton of points so missing homework or even tests aren't bad unless you make a habit of it.
Mediocre at best. Just hope she remembers her mic for the class.
This class seems like it would be a breeze, but there are so many assignments given online (due every sunday) for your lab & it's such busy work. You would think a class about microsoft office wouldn't be hard but its just so time consuming. Lecture was pointless (and had 2 exams). You don't have to go to lab unless its exam day
Cheri Wolf was the most awful teacher I have ever encountered. There were moments in my semester where I had medical emergencies that she blatantly did not excuse. She should be fired from her job and work in a cubical because she obviously does not enjoy helping student learn. Do not take IT150. I beg of you, do NOT take this class.
Cheri is a fine instructor, but I would recommend becoming acquainted with the lab instructors. Class or lab isn't mandatory, but always go to them. I passed with an A with minimal effort.
Going to lecture really isn't important, but do show up for exams (those are hard). Everything else is online and honestly really easy. As long as you stay on top of your work it is not a class to stress over. The lab can be useful if you are stuck. You don't really need the book.
this class is the worst i've taken at ISu. business majors have to take it but i would do it somewhere else. Lectures don't help at all and the book was only used for one assignment. On the bright side a lot of points, so i failed every test but finished with a B.
Her syllabus says attendance is not mandatory and then decided to give points for attendance. The only reason to go to lecture is to find out exams dates because she does not announce them on Reggienet expect the first time.
Just very meh overall. I didn't even buy the textbook and got an A. Make sure not to miss the assignments on ReggieNet; I learned the hard way and it cost me like 500 points. Also, I don't think there was a single day where this woman wasn't sick.
If you can avoid it I would at all costs. Cheri is just an awful teacher honestly. She clearly does not want to help her students succeed. You pay around $300 for the book and don't even use it. She decided to make attendance worth points after stating in the syllabus it wouldn't be. Lectures are pointless. My IT lab assignments are frustrating.
She's decent. A lot of students will hate her because they didn't actually try in the course. It's out of 7000 points and if you do what you're supposed to do then you will be straight. She's the only professor that teaches the course so there's no escaping her either.
Honestly, showing up to class is not mandatory. I states on her curriculum that you don't need to but for the people that do, she made it extra credit. Coming to lecture will just help you do the homework much quicker (which helps in the long run because there is a pretty decent bit of homework). Overall, this class is an easy A if you do the work.
Uses myitlab for everything, regardless if you are in her online class or not. The simulations will drive you CRAZY. Even if you know what you are doing, the simulations will want you to do it the LONG way, and will mark points off if try to complete a task the short way.
This class was one of my worst this semester, you basically are going to have to figure out how to use access, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint all on your own. The lecture is not mandatory but helps when she actually gets through the material. Overall the class kind of sucks if your not super tech savy and is always getting cancelled
Mrs. Wolf (as she requires you to call her) is by far one of the worst teachers that I have had at me time at ISU. Lectures are meaningless and do not help you understand the material, there is an excess of assignments due (all online), and there wasn't one day that she wasn't sick and coughing everywhere. Stopped going to lecture after midterms.
I have never regretted taking a class more in my life. She is terrible and makes me want to pull my hair out. She assigns 6-7 hours of useless homework, and she is VERY disorganized. No one has any clue what they're doing because she never teaches. Good luck getting help on the homework because you can't email her. She is BY FAR the worst teacher
Oh wow shes the worst. Luckily you only have to attend class for exam days (but why am I paying for this class then). There is so much work though and its all on the computer.... and she grades nothing. Pretty sure she gets paid to transfer grades from one website to the next. Also when you get something wrong on hw you arent told what is wrong.
She is BY FAR the worst teacher i have ever had in my 13 years of education. She is rude, unorganized, not qualified to teach this field of study, does not communicate, and is overall just not a good person. I knew that she had bad reviews before taking this class, but I wrongly gave her the benefit of the doubt. DO NOT take this class!!!!!!
Pretty awful professor, goes over instructions on how to do things in class way too quick which makes it hard to remember for exams over the material. Best advice is to learn how to use the the programs watching YouTube or use the book. Simulations are really frustrating, the only plus is the homework makes up more than 50% of your grade.
Nice lady who wants students to succeed. Not the best, but definitely not the worst. She tries to help introduce hard topics, but leaves out a lot that you need to know for lecture exams. Online homework is self-explanatory and it's easy to get perfect scores. If you don't understand something, you have to teach yourself or ask lab professor.
Lab is more useful than lecture. She is a poor teacher, but you do not need her to succeed in this class. Shes the only teacher for this course anyways. Develop a stronger relationship with your lab instructor. The homework is not hard, but there is a lot. Have good work ethic, don't wait until Sunday night, and you should be fine.
I came into IT150 with a negative outlook on Professor Wolf, because of the rates I read on here. After getting to know Professor Wolf, I can confidently say she is a sweet, kind woman. I recommend showing up to labs, regardless if you need help or not. I used StudyBlue for lab exams and did fine. The answers for the homework quizzes are on quizlet
Professor Wolf is an awful teacher. She is very stern and rude when asking questions and you can not understand her teaching. Would not recommend to anyone unless your major requires.
good lecture there is no final for this class homework is on cengage and you get up to 3 tries. this class was very easy you are only going to fail if you dont do the online assignments
If you want to teach yourself an entire course then by all means take this class. This professor was not respectful towards students contacting her for help and would bluntly ignore emails. The amount of tedious and excessive amounts of online work for this course is ridiculous. The course is not that hard, how ever, this professor is awful.
If I could give Cheri Wolf 0 stars I would. She is rude and unapproachable. This class is absolutely pointless. You teach yourself and basically copy a model of something so stupid for hours. She is also a technology teacher that doesn't you email so that says a lot right there. Do not waste your time, money and energy on this stupid class.
honestly you just learn everything through the online textbook modules. its really not a hard class as long as you're good about doing things. its mostly your lab TA that you ask for help during lab hours. not much interaction with the prof.
All you have to do is complete the online homework to get an easy A. I hardly ever went to class and finished with a high A. She is basically useless, but the class is super easy. Anyone who does not do well in the class simply did not try at all.
Cengage is the "textbook".These reviews are silly- easy straightforward professor she doesn't play In lecture she shows shortcuts + how to do assignments. A lil work heavy but offers EC the EC is the "hardest"-mostly time consuming. Go to lab if you need extra help. Don't wait until Sunday to start the assignments do them before lab. Overall Easy
Gives way too much hw every single week. Does not even work for her job. Never has to grade anything because the computer does it all and has outrageous requirements for the class. DO NOT take her if you have other options. Tests almost every week, multiple tests on the same day. No help if you have questions, doesn't take late, responds in 3 days.
The class itself is very easy but the professor is just rude. The test are given on a simulation and often counts things wrong for no reason and she refuses to give back points.
I took this class my freshman year, hated her so much. You don't have to show up to lectures at all. But after every unit she has a test to encompass what you learned, most people take 1-2 hours on the homework but the test is just doing the homework again but you're expected to finish in 30 minutes.
Awful awful awful. Easy class but Cheri Wolf does nothing. Have you ever heard of a computer professor that wont respond to emails? Well Cheri wolf fits that perfectly I would never recommend any take her as a professor. Easy class though.
This is the worst teach I have ever had. The class is easy and its all online, graders and everything. If I had a question Cheri Wolf would not even answer it. I emailed her one time and she said she didn't have time. She is not flexible at all. I don't think she knows anything about what goes on in this course, she just clicks upload for the work
DO NOT TAKE IT 150 WITH PROFESSOR WOLF. Not only is she devoid of compassion, but unwilling to help students in any capacity. Have a question? Too bad. She wont answer promptly and will make you feel like an idiot for asking. Whatever you do, DONT take any course with her.
if i could give cheri 0 stars i would :) beware of her pettiness
Don't expect help from Prof. Wolf. I've never had a professor treat me the way that she did. Simply put, she's rude and doesn't care about her students.
she is horrible and disrespectful. she doesn't care about her students whatsoever. the grading is automatic on some system and it doesn't grade right sometimes but she will NOT fix it. she relies on her TA's. just do not take her for real.
Honestly it150 with Cheri wasn't hard. You literally just go through different microsoft programs (word, excel, powerpoint, access) and learn how to use them. Not sure what everyone had so much trouble for. This was online so I really never met her or had a lecture with her, but times i emailed her she was fine. Takes some work, but not a hard clas
Shes terrible just trust me, good luck getting help from her shes useless.
this teacher makes it hard to want to learn from her she gave an F on an exam becasue my computer broke and i had to go pick it from when i got off work and i forgot to email her.
This was a very easy class, although there was lots of homework and 'projects' being done online and through your own time. Rules are clear, pass and you will get a good grade. Do the work and the rest is easy. Lectures are REALLY necessary, a quick rundown on the PowerPoints should be enough and the practice online lab.
Horrible teacher do not take this class. She is a IT teacher but has no clue how to create her course to be compatible with Mac. Gives no help and doesnt even any work and just makes her TAs do all her work for her.
Avoid her at all costs! Easy content but difficult class due to her behavior when "teaching" the course or helping students. Doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner, makes you feel bad for wasting her time with questions, won't fix grades if the system is wrong, and she's plain rude. Only professor I've met that wants to see her students fail.
Ive never come back to rate a professor but Wolf is easily the worst Ive EVER had. Doesnt attend the labs but checks attendance, *LITERALLY* doesnt teach any course material throughout the entirety of the semester, & doesnt answer any emails. Not sure what it is she gets paid for because you have no choice but to learn everything on your own.
IT 150 with Cheri Wolf is not bad. It is a lot of work where you have an online test almost every week and you have 5 activities due every Sunday. It is graded by the computer so she really doesn't do much. Just do the activities and read her emails and you will get an A.
"Professor" doesnt really count for her when she doesn't actually care about how you do in the course, and has no willingness to work with her students on a case by case basis. I've had two IT classes through this university, and both professors have been the worst I've ever had. Thank god I switched my major to business
Is not lenient whatsoever. Will not give you a break for anything. Some teachers have their exams open all day for you to take, not "Professor Wolf". You have a small window to take the exam, and if you miss it, no chance for credit. I put "professor" in quotes because I could teach that class. All she really does is put the grades in the gradebook
this course was online and she wouldn't answer any questions over email, everyone had to ask the helper teachers on lecture day. So she was really just there to grade our stuff. no teaching from her at all.
This class is almost completely online (which it was advertised as) and really only meets for labs twice a week. The lectures are just videos that she makes showing what to do/how to do it for whatever we're working on, and the labs are easy. Theres also an extra credit quiz at the end of each group of assignments
I agree with most of the reviews seen on here. There is absolutely NO leniency when it comes to missing things for a variety of reasons. There are drops for your lowest grades. Only way to be successful is to take initiative to learn on your own. She also cares very little about student success & does the bare minimum when it comes to teaching.
If you take this class you will never see the Professor. Personally with any question I had I either didn't get a response or I would have to go to great lengths in order to get a hold of her.
Got an A in the class, pretty easy if youre familiar with Microsoft Office. Completely online, just follow the simulations, complete the weekly hw, practice the exercise test to study for the tests and attend to the extra help/lab for the programs you have trouble going through and youll be good!
The reviews on here made me really nervous to take this class with Professor Wolf, but it was honestly a breeze. The class is entirely online aside from the Lab Section, which I did not attend once during the semester. There are lots of extra credit opportunities and several dropped grades. If you put in any effort, you will be more than fine.
If you have any concerns or questions good luck because this class is almost entirely virtual. The teacher doesn't respond to emails, all of the coursework is online through a third party. Therefore, you are entirely on your own outside of the labs twice a week which basically serves as a study hall. There are far better alternatives and professors
Don't be scared of this class because of the ratings! It's all online and has around 5 assignments per week that you can get done quickly. As long as you go to the labs (where you can get help on the assignments) and follow the instructions for the assignments, you will be golden. This class has easily been the most useful class I've ever taken.
I took IT 150 in pursuance of my minor. During this time, I have never met Cheri. I don't even know what she looks like. She relies on online software and VMs to teach you. The VM that grades you is super picky and exact. Cheri will go to her grave swearing that there is nothing wrong with the software if you think it's wrong.
While you won't meet Cheri, she is very accessible by email. This class is easy with clear grading criteria, there are about 4 assignments per week with a quiz for bonus points every week. She also drops 2-4 of the lowest grades for each assignment type. I would not be off-put by the bad reviews, easy and helpful class.
This class was a breeze as long as you go to lab and ask any questions then you should be able to get all of the assignments done for the week. There is 10 points for attendance. There's lab and lecture tests which were not bad. She is always quick with answering emails but doesn't make any exceptions for late work or missing class for no reason.
Extremely picky grader because she has software that is super strict.Even if you put a space it will take off points(I tested this). Never met the teacher, she has someone else for all of her classes to take her place.Overall, so many points and a lot of points for the class.Don't miss class because attendance is required now even though its online
Would not take this it150 class. "Professor" wolf doesn't show up to class and only has her TA doing everything. Wolf should really make this class easier to use on a macbook. If you have are at SAAS, have fun she won't give you your needs. very strict with homework load, too much for one class.
Cheri has a GA teach her class but is accessible by email and the scheduled lab times should be enough for you to complete the weekly assignments. I was super worried about this class because of all the bad reviews but was pleased to know I was able to succeed. Overall if your a Business major, take this class, do the work, and you'll pass.
She's basically non existent, if you need help then hope you get it during the labs. This is a very "put your head down and do it" type of class. You don't learn anything, you do busy work for 16 weeks. My score is higher than most because I never needed her help but I know that if I did she wouldn't be of much help.
Terrible. Does not care about any outside situations. Not very caring. terrible and complained about her the entire semester. The work is not necessarily super hard it is just busy work
This is actually the easiest class I have ever taken. If you do the all of the work then you can skip the last month of assignments and still get an A
Dont take IT150 with this "Professor", take another option. Cheri does not work with her students at all, in fact, you will likely never see her, only her GAs. Its a microsoft office course that's run entirely through autograded simulations. This professor does not respect SAAS accommodations as well.
This is an online course that requires you to attend labs twice a week. You get attendance points for attending labs but she refers it to as a "lab quiz". The class is easy as long as you stay on top because every week something new is due. Same as the exams.
Just do the homework online, attend the lab and you will pass!
This class is by no means difficult. It is 100% online outside of the labs. Labs are not necessary to attend. If you have a base understanding of the MS Suite you can get by with little effort. If you experience any difficulty just about all the course content is online somewhere. Poor performance in this course is entirely on you and you alone.
Professor Wolf shouldn't really be considered a professor when she isn't the one teaching the actual material for this course. It is an online course done through Pearson. Her main role was simply sending emails to the students in this class to update them about assignments. Never saw her once. We attended labs where a TA would assist us.
This professor does nothing. The lectures are online through Pearson and the labs are monitored by TA's. There's a lot of assignments each week and if you don't do them then you're going to be very lost.
You will never see the professor. I didn't know this until the first week of classes. There are labs but she doesn't teach, her GA runs it. Labs are mandatory bc you have to take lab attendance quizzes, which is pointless to me. You can just do the work at home, but whatever. She also gives tests after spring break like???? DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!
This class is extremely easy. If you finish your work for the week before lab you can go into lab and get attendance points for both days. I had all the work done by Spring Break and went once a week for lab points. You will never meet your professor. If you have basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint you will get an A in the class
This is an online class, everything that you do will be online. Very easy and you go to lab twice a week, however you can work ahead and just go once every week to get the points. Super easy class as long as you do the work and don't get behind.
This class could be frustrating at times but not bad. I got assignments done early so never had to worry about the class during the week. LOTS of extra credit so even when I messed up I still ended with almost 100%. Once you learn how to do the how the class/weekly assignments works it's A PUSHOVER CLASS!! Just have to spend like 1-2 hours weekly.
You won't ever have to contact or meet her unless you need extra help- half part lab half part online. Your experience is basically based on who your lab instructor is. It seems like a lot of work in the beginning but it's not as hard as it seems if you actually go to every lab. Like one hard unit but the rest are just following given directions.
Professor Wolf was a very easy online class to take. It's all asynchronous but you do have to go to labs but if you complete you work than you become exempt. You do have to buy a subscription for $100 but it's worth it. I'll say it is very easy to fall behind in class but if you stay on top of it you'll be fine. Easiest A, 100% suggest to take!!!!
If your main goal this semester is wanting to launch your computer at a wall and have a psychotic break, this class is for you. She does not teach. She doesn't care about any of your outside circumstances. All she does is send emails. When you email her a question she sends a group email and gets passive aggressive and won't answer your initial q.
"Professor" Wolf is non-existent. All she does is transfer grades and posts announcements, and that's it. You'll never meet her because she never lectures. However, the class is easy and doable if you watch the Pearson videos and attend labs with questions. The lab instructors are helpful. The bare minimum gets you through the course.
For this class to be online is absurd. I get we have labs, but even the first few weeks of the semester we have over 8 hours of work a week. The assignments and website is so confusing, with me completing something completely but getting a 1%. Only option at ISU, take it at a community if possible.
She is not very involved with her students and gets angry anytime a student emails for help. She will never allow extensions and does not care if you get graded wrong by the system during assignments or exams. Lab attendance is graded every class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. The hardest section is first and it makes you want to drop out. You have to teach yourself everything and if you don't understand something its over for you. There's so much homework every week and even if you have an exam she still makes you do the regular homework on top of studying for the exam.
Take this class if you're trying to get cooked alive. I warned you!!
Teacher was terrible in every way
Hard to rate her as a professor as it was an online class with in person labs (which had good TA's) and she doesn't communicate with student much. Overall I found the class pretty easy and as it just is all busy work that isn't that hard to compete. Its about 4 hours of work a week(nonexam weeks) but there are so many points in the class that help.
I have never seen her in the flesh, but this was an easy class to get an A in as long as you do the work. The weekly homework was very tedious and took me 4+ hours to complete every week so that was annoying, but it's a very straightforward class and tons of points are offered. There's “mandatory” weekly labs, but no one ever showed up lol.
Never saw her the whole semester. The actual class was online (no zoom or nothing) which i liked. However you do have to attend the labs which were on Tuesdays and thursdays for me, and the labs are 10pts for showing up. The homework was so annoying because it was mainly busy work. I did learn from it but sometimes it could take hours to do.
Fully online class with an out-of-touch professor you'll never see or interact with. The software she uses in examples compares to the homework is completely different. For a class about using Microsoft apps, you'd think the teacher would be more competent. If there's another option, pick them instead of Wolf!!!
Does not explain things thoroughly. Does not care about you or your grade whatsoever. Terrible communication, as it being an all online course communication is very important.
You never saw her so all the communication was through email. When I emailed her about an issue I had with the system, after two emails she stopped emailing me back about it like I did not know what I was talking about or did not even act like she cared. Most likely it was cus I could not show her the issue, I had to describe it in the email.
fully online so the lecture hour never meets in any way. would be a 1 difficulty if there wasn't so much busy work but the work itself usually isn't hard. If u don't know how to do part of it, copy the steps instructions into GPT and it'll tell u exactly how to do it. no avoiding it, its just busy work at the end of the day.
there are no lectures nor is there a final. BUT Cheri wolf is rude and is not helpful when you need it. the assignments can take awhile to complete and can end up feeling like a waste of time if you get a bad grade on them. eventually labs became optional to go to so i stopped going to them.
She lets her TA's teach everything and you'll never see her since everything is online. Don't really recommend this class if you only have a Mac Book because she runs everything through windows software. If you only have a Mac you'll be forced to download VMWare which is really inconsistent and laggy. Not very difficult but really annoying tests.
IT is just no fun and it is a lot of work, but Prof Wolf is aware of that so she gives you 10 extra credit points every week for a quiz(just put in chat). She also drops your worst 5 homework assignments because she's aware that there is a ton of homework and it does take a couple hours to do it all.
The worst class I've ever taken. You basically teach yourself because you never meet Cheri. If you dedicate at most 3 hours each week you'll do fine, but if you're someone who has a hard time doing the assignments, you're basically out of luck.
Easy A if you have common sense otherwise you are screwed because the professor does not exist. Weekly assignments will take you an hour max. The whole course is at your own pace so you could hypothetically finish before semester ends. Some assignments could be annoying so just have patience
Fully online class, no zooms. Work at your own pace. If you understand how to use word and excel you'll be fine. Its really not that hard. Even if you have a mac you can do everything besides the access chapter. Class was not bad at all just busy work that takes maybe 2 hours per week. Exams were set for a certain time of a certain day no lockdown.
The professor herself is not very helpful in relation to answering your direct concerns for the assignments, but that's why you have the LABS!! You will enjoy this course if you are fairly "tech savvy", resourceful and enjoy working independently. Most assignments I would put into chat to simplify and it would get me high As.
Good class to take, but somewhat time consuming.
