Very nice lady!Great class!
Very personable. Knows her subject.
This teacher is very easy to talk to. If you ask her a question or for help she will spend alot of time making sure things make sense to you. The class is hard but you will be able to manage if you are organized and dedicated to the class.
Cherryl is a fantastic lab instructor- she cares about what she teaches and she is always willing to help you understand the confusing stuff. She has a great sense of humor, and a wonderful personality.
I love Cherryl! She's the best anatomy lab teacher at this school, and you can tell that she loves what she does. If you're going to take Bio 220, take your lab with her, she will do everything she can to make you learn what you need to!!
Even though her lectures are boring, she is still a nice teacher. Her tests are somewhat hard so you must study to a point where all the information has sunk in. If not, everything on the test might seem like you have never seen it anywhere before. Other than that, she's all right.
Great teacher. Good sense of humor. Always willing to help you understand the material. Exams are relative to the notes in class and gives extra credit oppurtinities. Enjoyed the class very much!
Easy teacher if you attend every lecture. Gives out ALOT of extra credit. Her lectures are quite interesting yet a bit dry here and there. Recommend not to take her lecture class at 8am bc its intimidating to skip it.
I took the 8am class and although it was a bit boring for that early, it was pretty easy. Go to class everyday (including lab) and you'll get an A. Tests come straight from notes.
Shes not that great. shes very very boring! shes the perfect teacher to take if youre planning to take a good nap once in while. and tests are hard; nevertheless she does give alot of extra credit. probably about 100 extra points.
Take your own indepth notes (don't rely on her outlines) and then memorize them the day before the test. If you do as much of the extra credit as you need to, and you'll get an A. If you don't, you're a slacker and shouldn't complain...
She acts like she's gonna tear your head off, if you do what she asks. She seems to have a mean-streak about her, and a loaded anger issue. She doesn't give you procedures for turning in papers, such as extra credit. Otherwise, she seems average.
Tests straight from the notes...just study, she's really nice and a good teacher. If you fall asleep in class, which is likely, you have notes to read which is all u really need.
Easy teacher. Tests come right from her lecture notes, so just print them off the computer and memorize them. She also offers 50 points worth of extra credit. So if you study for all the tests, do the extra credit and attend all the labs, you'll at least get a B if not an A in the class.
this is the easiest bio class and i'm not very fond of this subject. study her lecture notes along with your own notes from class lectures and you'll ace the tests. it's all memorization! tests are very easy and she tells you what to expect on the exams.there are lots of xtra credit opportunites. if you don't follow in class there's always the book
class in general was hard not her. go to all of the extra labs that you can and study every little thing on the lab reports and you can get an A
she does a good job relating it to every day things. biology sucks, so anyone who can make it suck less is alright in my book. and she definitely did that.

Awsome teacher, but really hard class. SHe is extremely clear and helpful, but you really have to study. If you have to take this class though I would recommend you take it with her. Just study study study
She is the one of the sweetest teacher i have ever met. The class i going to be hard no matter who teaches it. She tells you what you need to study, what you don't. No surprises, offers tons of extra credit. Go the hoag labs, get the points. If you put in the effort, there should be no reason you should get less than a C. As far as the other person below saying she has anger problems.... You probably failed, slacked off and should have never been in the class in the first place. Dork.
Really awesome teacher, extremely clear of her expectations, class is easy if you dont miss anything, do your reading and study. She makes it interesting, and the tests are not surprising, exactly what she tells you. Highly recommend this class
Great teacher!!!!
Great professor in every meaning of it! You'll see how fortunate you are being one of her students. That's all I can say.
I found this class to be very challenging and it did take a lot of effort to get a favorable grade. But, the professor was very dedicated, coherent, and always willing to answer questions during the lectures. The tests were a bit complex; but it only challenges her students to work harder and learn the material in a more thorough manner.
Cherryl Baker is a very kind good woman, she goes out out of her way to help & is very understanding. I love her. The class was so hard. Students either learn better with her or with Harmen.... It's all a matter of your own learning style. Cherryl zips right through lecture but stops and answers questions. This class is compared to 3 hard classes,
What a great teacher!! Very helpful, offers extra credit, has an interest in her students doing well. I would reccomend her class.
She is so smart so cool. She has your best interest at heart. She is so nice has GREAT T.A.'s and her class is challeneing but it's totally worth it! TRUST ME STUDY AND YOU'll BE FINE!!!
This woman is a saint, she even let me borrow a text book for the entire semester. She cares so much about every single student she has and if you make the effort you will pass. The class is super hard dont get me wrong but no one fails who really tries hard.
I had Cheryl for A&P Lab. She is clear, concise, helpful to the point of self sacrifice. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as a lab professor. (Lecture skills aren't as polished...) but she's a great woman.
Great teacher. Like a mother teaching her children. Has a sense of humor, but have to be listening for it. Excellant Educator.
i had her for 221 lab. very nice lady and was always happy to help students. can't go wrong with baker or harmer...both are great!
BAKER IS THE BEST. SHE KNOWS HER STUFF AND HAS A GREAT SPIRIT FOR THE SUBJECT. SHE EXPECTS GREAT THINGS FROM HER STUDENTS. YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS CLASS. GREAT TA'S. STUDY HARD AND YOU WILL DO WELL WITH BAKER.
This was an awesome class and Professor Baker was an awesome instructer. I highly recommend taking this class.
Awesome teacher, very helpful, difficult subject but she really helps you if you need it.
Ms. Baker is a very cool and nice person. She is also an awesome instructor. She makes zoology fun. She's very helpful in every way. She writes great letter of rec + she gets it done quickly. If you need help - you should come ask her.
I really enjoyed her class. She is very clear on what she expects and makes difficult material accessible. She is funny and very very nice! I personally think she is amazingly patient and helpful. She is a great professor!
I loved her! Funny, Patient, smart! Defiantly would take her again.
Amazingly clear teacher, always answers any questions you have. This was completely not my domain and I got an A in the class but I studied more than I ever have before! So don't think it will be easy, but its worth the reward and its quite interesting too!
A great professor, very funny, very helpful, totally recommended. This was the only class I actually attended all semester.
This is one of the hardest classes on campus because of the amount of information that you need to know. Cherryl is crystal clear and funny. Don't get behind or you may never recover. I think they keep track of attendence- I don't know because I always went. Baker gives a ton of EC to help. Definitely recommend her!
she is awesome, her test are some tricky but take her
I always liked anatomy and physiology classes because i was lucky to have teachers like Ms. Cherryl Baker. She was smart, profecient in making the course constructive an not boring.
TAKE THIS TEACHER!! she is the reason i passed the class! This is a VERY difficult class, however there is plenty of help she gives and lots of extra credit.
You have to study in this class to get a desirable grade, however plenty of extra credit is offered to make up for your mistakes. Study lecture notes and you'll be fine. Lab is difficult and you're on your own, don't expect much assistance from the teacher. It doesn't matter which teacher you take, they're all the same.
Cheryl Bakker is an amazing teacher, but you have to STUDY to pass. This class is hard and time-consuming.
Cheryl is wonderful!!! She is such a great teacher and she makes everything fun to learn as well as easy to understand. This class does take a lot of time and dedication, but I definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to go into the medical field or even if you're just interested learning. She's encouraging, helpful too! :D
Cherryl is the best teacher you can have for bio. She wants her students to pass and enjoys teaching. If you are having trouble in the class she does what she can to motivate you to do better and helps you w/ any question. I would defiantly recommend her!
Amazing instructor. She is extremely talented at putting complicated subjects into easy to understand sentences. She grades very fairly, and there is always extra credit out there if you put the effort in and do them. Lab was actually enjoyable, I already miss it. Probably one of the best instructors I've had ever. Take her.
Excellent Teacher! Best in the A&P Dept.
Great teacher. I love her and her style
Very straight and honest teacher, without sacrificing any severity or quality of the class
Great teacher! Very fair. Expectations are spelled out at the beginning and she sticks to them. You will get the grade you earn. This is a VERY HARD CLASS, not because of who teaches it, because there?s lots of material to memorize and understand; but It?s clear that her goal is student success. I wish there were more teachers like Cherryl Baker.
Baker was very friendly, funny, and very helpful. She went through all of the procedures we were going to be doing in lab that day and helped us throughout procedures. She even made sure to ask everyone how they were doing along the way. One of the best teachers I have had so far.
She is fabulous! Very precise in wording and excellent at translating and clearly answering stupid questions. Always polite, helpful, positive, and extremely knowledgeable. This class is like a part time job if you want an A, but totally worth it. :D
Cheryl is wonderful! She goes above and beyond to help you. This is the hardest class I've ever taken...so much information but she encourages you and if you have any questions, she's right there for you!
OMG this class is hard. Cherryl is soo helpful, if it wasnt for her, I probably would have dropped the class, she is very encouraging and very informative. I highly recommend taking her for the lecture as well. seriously she is the bio teacher OCC has if you ask me.
Cheryl is a great teacher. Highly recommend her. You will not regret it.
This was hard. What I did to get an A was read the textbook, listen to the itunes lecture, and read over the notes. Lecture was interesting and prof was clear about what was going to be on the test and what to focus on. Extra credit is offered. She is really nice!
The BEST biology at OCC! Do not take anyone else!
Super intelligent, well mannered and kinda hot in a "hot mom" but super down to earth, kinda way. Her voice is so smooth. She treats her students how she'd like to be treated. Puts so much thought into this class. Love that she puts her lec on itunes. Tests are very difficult so go to class and LISTEN! In other words, don't ask any dumb questions.
I love Prof. Baker! She is extremely helpful and truly cares about her students. She will review the A&P models until she knew you understood them. She is very kind, intelligent and funny. I strongly recommend taking lab and lecture with Baker. I was fortunate enough to take lab with her. I <3 you Baker!
Professor Baker is the best instructor I've had at Orange Coast College. She's incredibly organized. Extremely clear about expectations and very helpful. She makes extra time for her students, even when she doesn't have the extra time to give. She's got a great sense of humor and I learned more in her class than I ever thought possible. Take her.
She's so sweet. very helpful and understanding.I strongly recommend taking both lab and lecture with Baker.
This class has a lot of information, but you really just need to study the notes to do well on the test. Literally all her questions come from her powerpoint. I am always impressed with how much knowledge she has on the subject. She is also very down to earth. I am glad i took this class with her.
I love Prof Baker! She is so sweet and her lectures are great. She has everything online, but also goes over the material in class. Lecture notes cover everything you need to know for the exams. It's definitely not an easy class, but if you actually work at it and take advantage of the avaliable resources, you'll do fine. And learn something too!
I have attended a lot of courses in my quest to find what I love. Cheryll Baker is by far the best teacher I have had. Her lectures are clear and to the point. She offers a lot of help for students to understand the material she is lecturing on. I enjoyed her class and understand the material I have been taught.
She was charming, witty, and very well spoken. Her power points made it very easy to disseminate the material, and she gave oodles of extra credit. No reason not to get an A in her course.
Very straightforward, knows her subject very well. You are responsible for the lecture material – what’s on the PowerPoints and what she says in lecture. Attend class, pay attention, learn the lecture material, and you’ll get an A. Exams are very clear, no “trick” questions.
Prof Baker is the best! She was extremely helpful when I needed it. Very approachable and clear in what she expects and will go above and beyond to help those who ask for it. Love her!!!
Wonderful teacher, I studied hard to get an A, knew the powerpoint slides verbatim. Some of the textbook is incorrect but Prof Baker will point those out in class. She is so helpful, very eager to answer any question and do whatever she can to help you get a great education and prepare for the future. HIghly recommend to anyone!
5 exams (500), 3lab exams(300) LabReport(120) Online assignment(80points) EC(30 max avail). This class is not hard but u get so much material u can't fall behind. Her lectures r boring & puts ppl 2 sleep but MEMORIZE all her lecture slides verbatim, NO NEED TO READ THE BOOK. For lab, TAKE PICS of models,REVIEW everyday, study n DON'T PROCRASTINATE
Tests come almost completely from her slides, text book is not necessary. Memorize the slides and you're golden. She's so energetic, and she explains the material so even the dumbest person can understand it.
Study her notes & you will be fine on lecture test. Her lectures are boring but if you memorize the slides you will be fine. YOU HAVE TO SPEND TIME IN THIS CLASS in order to do good. Take pics in lab, study everyday, find a study group early & don't procrastinate cuz there is so much material that is gone over & u can't fall behind
Baker is probably the best teacher I've ever had. It takes a really good teacher to make hard concepts seems easy. She does everything she can to get you to pass including multiple chances for extra credit and comical test answers that are obviously wrong. Class is NOT easy. She can teach you, but it's up to you to study. Have a chili pepper on me.
Mrs.Baker is AMAZING!Yes the lecture is boring but very interesting. Her exams come directly from her notes. There's always extra credit & funny questions for extra points. She has changed my life and I'll always remember her! She's also writing me a letter of rec! I got a very high A from studying 5 hrs/day. It was worth it! TAKE HER!
Test questions come straight from her powerpoints. I wouldn't even bother reading the book for the test, because if you study her notes, you should get an A no problem. Easy A with college-level effort!
Baker is the best teacher I ever had, she is lovely, beautiful and exudes an aura of positive energy, I will miss her class.
Baker is very helpful, and explains the concepts very well and with enthusiasm especially for an 8 Am class. The tests are fairly hard, but memorizing the slides verbatim helps to prepare for the exams tremendously. Lots of extra credit is offered so take advantage of it
She is a great, and helpful professor. Has flexible office hours. Is willing to help and clarify during and after class.
Helpful advice! Take Cherryl for Lect & Lab, not other guy.Your life will be so much easier to have her for both classes. MEMORIZE lecture notes for exam. For Lab, take PHOTOS of ALL the lab models that is LABELED on your lab sheet(quizlet.com)helps. Spelling counts!Lab group important! DO NOT MISS CLASS FOR LAB EVER!I love Cherryl! She is so kind!
as an esl student i dont find her class was hard since the lecture exams are easy based from her power point(study is a key tho) Need txtbook when doing a quiz and hw online. 30pts extra credit was superbly helpful. interesting class but i slept behind my eyes almost every lectures lol
I really like Bio-221 class and I have learned lots of things from this class and lab. Prof. Baker is very nice and helped us when ever we needed her advice. The lab assistance Kelly is also very kind, friendly and helpful.
Good enough teacher. Took her for Bio 221 in summer. Her lectures are very, very dry. She gives out information straight from her power points which is what drives her test. I'll say Russell is more passionate about physiology than Baker is but not as helpful in the labs. You have to work hard to pass this class. Plenty of points & Extra credit.
She is very nice. Had for lab as well. Lecture is pretty much powerpoints which are also available on blackboard. Study your notes and you'll pass. Like i said she is very nice and is always willing to help.
Professor Baker is such a good speaker. All of her lectures are posted on Blackboard so you can go back and re-listen to anything that may have been confusing the first time. Her tests are taken directly from lecture notes but they aren't easy. She conditions her students to be able to be successful in their medical programs. Work hard!
Typical class. The harder part is the lab. The book was mandatory to because this course also comes with online work and the code to access it is in the book. Her lectures were boring, but the content of them are legitimate. Cherryl is very easy to talk to. The lab practicums are crucial and studying is a must. (btw the teacher is not hot) LOL
I use to not enjoy biology or anything science related until I had Cherrly. One of the professors I have had. If you need help in lab, ask her, she is willing to help out her students and if she feels that you do not understand the topic, she will go over it again without any hesitation. I strongly recommend her! Do yourself a favor and take her!
Prof. Baker is a very good speaker and very knowledgeable about the topics she lectures. She's very patient and helpful when you questions and willing to explain them. This require you to buy book to get the online codes for homework, and you don't need to use the book. If you want to pass just study her notes, and listen to her lecture recording.
Baker is a really nice instructor and has a sense of humor in her lecture. Memorization is the key to succeed in her class. All lecture exams will be from the power points. Her lab exams is pretty difficult if you are bad memorization and spellings.
This class covers a lot of information, with some difficult concepts... but Prof. Cheryl Baker makes the material easy to understand; and you can tell she really cares about her students' success... Provides online and on-campus extra credit opportunities as well. :)
Cheryl is a great person; however, her lectures are extremely boring and there is so much dumped into your brain in one sitting that it makes learning very difficult. Her test questions come off of her slides, but there are hundreds of slides to memorize info on just for one test. It would have been very helpful to have a study guide at the least.
Honestly, anyone who has given Cherryl a bad review is probably someone that skipped class and even didn't try. When it comes to A&P she is the best teacher to go with which is why she always has a waitlist. She is one of the most helpful and honest professors there is. This is a fairly difficult course but she is always willing to help her student
This class is not that difficult. All of her exams are from her lecture slides. Just make sure to print out her slides in outline format and highlight everything SHE has highlighted on her slides and you're golden! I don't even study slide per slide just the things she highlights and I've been passing with ease. Definitely recommend her class.
Easy class if youre a real sit there and listen kind of learner. My advice is to get a good printer and print off every lecture because its impossible to take notes due to the fact that the lectures are boring and jammed with information.
Very good teacher! She is straight forward. All tests come from her lecture notes. Make sure to print them out before lecture and add notes as needed. Tough class, especially the lab! Use You Tube to study for practicums! Takes a lot of work and I wouldn't suggest taking other classes with this one. It's really 2 classes.
She is a great professor
Fantastic teacher who is clear and concise in how she'll grade exams and lab practicum. Very knowledgable in the subject, I've never seen her stumble in answering any students' questions in class and lab. Easy class if you attend because she'll tell you what to expect for all her exams (lecture and lab).
i failed 2-3 of her tests, but with extra credit(DO THE ONLINE HOMEWORK AND LAB) it boosted my grade a lot. I would've failed if I didn't do the online homework/lab which aren't that hard. She is an amazing person and is very passionate about the subject. We need more professors like her. Highly recommend.
There are five lecture exams, sapling assignments, three lab exams, five lab quizzes, and a final lab activity. It is important to review the lecture notes.
I had Cherryl for lecture AND lab. Her exams go off of whatever is in her PP slides or in her lab handouts. I got an A, but only because I read every chapter to further understand. Take pics of all her models and keep them organized/label them. She is very clear in explaining, and makes the class really easy. There are quite a few exams and quizzes
LOVED her class! Genuinely cares for her students. Helpful when it came to disability accommodations. Made a tough subject interesting even though I dread science classes. Although she did take attendance, it was not directly applied to our grades. Going to lecture helped, but not necessary for a decent grade. LOVE HER! 100% recommend!
Loved her class a lot. For lecture and lab. Pay attention to what she says and write it down because she makes it VERY clear what is expected and does not try any tricks. She is straight forward and VERY knowledgeable about her subject!! Do not skip lab ever. I recommend her class. You'll need a lot of time for this class for studying
Cherryl gave great lectures and clearly had experience and new what she was talking about! She always answered questions before, after and during class and was never unwilling to help anyone! The only thing is Id recommend taking notes before class because she goes through the slides extremely fast! Other than that, great class 10/10 recommend!
Cherryl is an amazing teacher! She wants you to succeed and will answer any questions you have about the material. She explains the PowerPoint slides very well. You don't really need the textbook for the lecture because all the material you need is on the powerpoints, but I would still recommend it for the lab.
She made the class very easy because she only asking questions from her lecture notes so it's basically a study guide. Just keep going over her lecture notes and you will pass class easily.
I was really scared before taking this class online but it turned out that I was really glad that I took this class online since we don't have to memorize how the words written as the exam and quiz are all multiple choices. It's super cool that her final is not cumulative and exam and quiz come directly from her powerpoint so it's super easy.
Professor Baker is the best professor I've ever had for a science related class. Her lectures are very easy to understand even though there are difficult words and her exams are based on her lecture notes so if you study the notes, you will pass the exam for sure. Offer extra credits and review session before exams!
She was great because she is so caring about her students. She always made the time to review with us and make sure we were ready for the exams. She did really well in explaining the materials. Loved her!
Honestly, one of the best profs I ever had. Clear, concise, and genuine about teaching. She's very knowledgeable on the topic. Long lectures but truly worth it.
She's super passionate and it shows in her lectures. Computer usage and lecture recording allowed was helpful for me. Exams are based on her lecture PPT. It's a lot of info but her teaching style makes it very easy to understand. She makes herself very accessible for zoom reviews a day or 2 prior to the tests and they were super helpful.
Professor Baker is the best! Very professional in her area. Both lectures and labs were challenging and informative. She gave great lectures and exams were all based on her lecture notes. She also gave lots of extra credits. As long as you study, you will pass.
She is straight forward, organised and tells you exactly what she is asking in the lecture and lab exams. She is caring and fair. If you fail her class that is all your fault. I do not suggest to buy the textbook since she only asks questions from her lecture notes which is available on canvas. Lec exams are multiple choice, match and true or false
Amazing Professor! I appreciated her reviews nights before exams. Definitely helps you understand all the information as confusing and difficult as it gets. Never confused about what we would be quizzed on as she thoroughly explained. Her lecture exams are based on the PowerPoints so those are your best study tool.
This was my favorite class this semester! The professor is amazing, fun, extremely savvy and keeps the class engaged. Lab wasn't difficult at all but it a lot of memorization. This is a combined class with the lecture. Your final grade comes from both. For the amount of work it should have been separate. Regardless, I loved this class and the prof.
I try to take her class this Spring 2023. I mean I did for a few weeks it was super difficult at least for me. As the class is mixed with anatomy and physiology info. I just couldn't with both and for everyone taking BIOA221 good luck. Don't get me wrong the professor is cool I had wished the information to pass to class was cool as her.
I never thought I could pass Anatomy and Physiology but Professor Baker proved me wrong. She is straightforward and informed us what was going to be on the test. There were no surprises. She is incredible at teaching and a very intelligent individual.
Highly recommend prof Baker! I learned so much! Don't be scared to ask questions! This class is def not easy and requires a lot of studying/memorizing. Lab quiz every week; she only counts 5 highest quiz scores, she drops the other 4-5. Exams worth 100pts each; 5 lecture exams & 3 lab exams. Lab exams and online hwk have extra cred opportunities.
Cherryl was my favorite teacher at OCC by far! She was very clear and consistent about quizzes and lectures. Her outlines were straightforward and guided the material very methodically. Her humor and voice are very soothing and it made 7:30 am class much more palatable. Gives plenty of extra credit/best scores, don't be lazy and you'll be fine!
Had her for Lecture, this class is CHALLENGING, but not hard. Do not come in expecting an easy A, this class requires effort. Best piece of advise I can give is study and memorize her slides, her exams are based completely off of them. Even if you don't understand the material, just memorize the slides and you'll be fine.
Have to drop out of her class last spring because she was to difficult to read.
Professor Baker is a great teacher. She is very clear on what you will be tested on. Quizzes each week in lab and the practicums can be nerve-wracking, but you just need to study the photos on the pdf files and memorize. Lectures, she only tests on what is covered in her slides. As long as you put in the work, you can get an A.
I had Professor Baker for both lab and lecture, lab tests are based on models she showed us in class and lecture test are based on her lecture slides. Honestly a whiteboard will become your best friend when it comes to studying for lab because it all based on memorization. Just put the effort in studying and stay on top of things and you'll begood
I was scared taking this class until I realized that all I had to do was print out the modules, get tested at home, and ask her about what's testable on the quizzes each week. She is very kind and wants you to succeed, definitely one of the best teachers i've had so far. If you're scared about failing reach out to her for help, just don't give up!
Professor Baker is a clear and organized instructor. Her straightforward teaching style and detailed review sessions make the challenging content manageable. Utilizing Unstuck study alongside the provided lecture materials can be very helpful for acing this course.
The professor is nice and is passionate about what she teaches. Also, this lab class will probably be the easiest one you'll ever take in your life. Literally just print out the slides, test yourself on each and every function/name of the part you're studying, and you'll do great in the class. Don't burn yourself out, and take constant breaks!
I personally will not take her again. I dropped out of her class because she spoke too fast. And it really confused her lectures. And she spoke really fast. She's kind of like a tough grader as well. She could give you some feedback an extra, but it depends.
I love Baker's teaching style. She's very patient & kind, but also a no BS kinda girly. She teaches as if her student were all kindergarteners which weirdly helped a lot. She comes up with interesting ways to remember labels as well! You won't regret taking her class!
