Very helpful and always in communication with her students. Offers support like no other science professor. You will do well if you place emphasis on studying for her quizzes and lab practicals. Obviously, you will need to keep in contact with her to continuously do well in her class.

One of the best professors in teaching A&P. Worth taking despite the long trek to Commerce Twp. Willing to help and assist you with your issues and grades. Performance is based on the individual's effort alone, as she will guide you into doing great in the class. Lack of communication with her would complicate your grade in the class.

Love this teacher!! she is a great teacher, gives you many different ways to get a good grade, she is willing to help you out if you need help, really loved her ideas for our projects not just a boring old paper we had 6 options.

Great professor! The class is a lot of work (homework, quizzes, term project,cumulative midterm & final), but I really enjoyed it. She provides powerpoint presos & notes for each chapter. I skimmed the book based on the notes she handed out & got a 4.0. She is funny, nice & makes class interesting. I highly recommend Dr. Aretha for A&P.

She's really a wonderful teacher. I just finished the midterm for this class and am convinced she's the best thing since sliced bread. Taking A&P and succeeding i believe has everything to to with the professor and she's by far the best I've had.

Dr. Aretha is an excellent instructor. She's got a great sense of humor,& truly loves to teach. She is always eager to answer questions, and tells you what you need to know prior to testing in lectures and Labs. She also provides study sheets.I also took A&P1, and I would take another class with her again. I highly recommend her.

FANTASTIC teacher - and so hilarious. She wants you to learn, and enjoy doing it. Material is difficult, but she helps break it down. Plus, there are SI's and tutors to help - I took full advantage and am so glad I had her. Absolute favorite teacher I've had at OCC.

shes great! its a tough class, but if you do your studies you'll do fine. getting an A wont be easy. she wants you to learn alot sometimes, but its manageable, probably the best anatomy teacher OCC has! plus shes funnY!

Dr. Aretha is that rare intellectual with a knack for teaching. Her tests are not hard or tricky. They simply require study. Make movies on your Iphone for lab practicals. Go to SI sesions. You will NEVER find a more clear, competent instructor. I have a graduate degree and have had many instructors but none as compassionate or fair. I got an A.

Best OCC teacher I've had. The tests and lab practicals require study, but she is a very fair grader. Dr. Aretha teaches clear and understandably. I like that she gives us printouts for notes. She has a great personality and sense of humor too!

She is by far my favorite teacher at OCC! So funny and understanding. Definitely take her if you decide to take BIO 2630/40. You have to work for your grade, but she makes class interesting. I love her and highly recommend her to everyone! Fantastic teacher!

By far the best teacher I have had. She is very clear on everything and is always available. Attending the SI sessions always helps. You have to study but that is to be expected. Great teacher wish there were more like her.

She is a nice, helpful, and hilarious teacher. She makes class fun and interesting and is there to help you when needed. I had her for 2630/2640 and can say she expects a lot from her students. She isn't the easiest option for a teacher and does use confusing language on tests. Take pictures of lab models on your phone, and be easy to study!

I love Dr. Aretha. I was so nervous about taking AP but she makes it fun. She has a great sense of humor. She has been fair so far. Tests and Quizes pretty straight forward. It is alot of work, lots of memorization but she is always available to help and open lab up. She expects you to do your best! I highly recommend and look forward toAP2

Dr Aretha is an excellent teacher, she knows her materials and gives you many opportunities to do well. if you read the chapters, study your notes and previous exams you can do very well. Very helpful instructor and makes learning the material fun! Awesome personality but you need to STUDY! If your a slacker then Biology classes at OCC are not for you! OCC's AP12 are great if you plan on going into nursing. After this class I was confident with this material when I started my BSN nursing program, which made it a lot easier!!

She's an awesome professor all around. Lectures can be long but she keeps you stimulated and will teach what she thinks is worth your while. If you are able to have her as a professor, take it! You will not be sorry.

Overall, Dr. Aretha is a great professor to teach Human Anatomy and Physiology. The subject requires a lot of straight memorization and can be somewhat conceptional at times. She does everything she can to help you understand all concepts. Her lectures are very helpful. Lectures are very useful. Clear on what is going to be on tests. hw is Easy

Dr Aretha is funny, fair, and easy going. Her quizzes and exams were straightforward (really only requiring memorization of big ideas). No EC given, but if there is a question on an exam that many people get wrong, she will throw it out. She grades HW and Labs for completion only- easy points. The short answers on her quizzes were taken from HW.

I LOVED Dr. Aretha. She has a great sense of humor, keeps the class engaged, and is very straightforward on the expectations she has for quizzes and exams. Keep up with her lectures and you will do great.

There is absolutely nothing negative to say about Dr. Aretha. She genuinely cares for her students. Her lectures are obtainable and retainable. I have learned so much from HER and her style. She says right in the beginning that her classes are "weeder" classes and she's right! Her classes are tough but she's really funny and always available to help and clarify things if you don't fully understand a topic. There is a direct correlation between your grade and your attendance. Overall she is wonderful and I wish I could take her again!

That does not mean they are easy, they are difficult but everything on the tests are somehing she has talked about. She also offers extra lab time occasionally!

Keep up, take notes, and ask questions because she is very helpful! A&P 1 and A&P 2 REQUIRE studying and time, but she gives you all the information you needed to be successful.

LOVED this professor! It's a tough class and you have to show up and study, but she gives you all of the tools and resources to do well. She's hilarious and her lectures are always engaging. Dr. Aretha is THE BEST professor you can have for Anatomy at OCC. Especially if you're going into Nursing or other health related profession, she will prepare you thoroughly for the program. You have to put in the work, it is not a blow off, but you will learn.

Awesome teacher! the only downside is trying to get into one of her classes before its filled up. Went to her with personal issues and she was so kind and understanding . I thanked her and she said "I try to put the community in community college" Her lectures are great, shes hilarious, and homework is ueful and relevant. she gets creative.

Favorite professor I have ever taken. Wish I needed to take her again. Only can say good things. I worked my butt off in this class, but it was worth it. She loves questions, go see her after or before class if you dont understand something. Read your book! It is an awesome textbook, really glad I had it. Print off the powerpoints so you have them

Had her for A & P 1 and 2 and she is amazing. Learned so much. She gives outlines prior to lecture and that is mostly what i used to study and got an A both semesters. She doesn't give pop quizzes and there are no suprises on the quizzes or tests. Definately requires a lot of dedication, but Proff Aretha makes it very painless.

Stop what youre doing and take Dr. Aretha. She is a real gem and makes her lectures very interesting. If an SI is avaliabe please go! If I didnt go I dont think I would have ended with an A-. This isnt an easy class but Dr. Aretha will make sure you know the material. She isnt trying to trick you.

Professor Aretha is an amazing person, but more importantly for your success in the class, a great teacher. This class is definitely for students who plan on putting in the effort. You will undoubtedly learn a lot. This class has been the most beneficial prerequisite I have taken. I personally enjoyed lab more than lecture, but Im a visual learner

This class is hard, and Dr. Aretha's course is geared toward helping you LEARN the material, not pass the class. She knows the course is difficult and is always there to answer questions. You have to work and put in time to get the grade. Lecture quizzes are the hardest but you can make things up by doing well in lab and assignments.

I agree with most of the posts here, Dr. Aretha is a great teacher. You learn ALOT which is what your're there for. But her tests are really hard. Its alot of studying and alot of work. I wouldn't recommend taking with another class. Anatomy 1 was better then anatomy 2. And i wouldn't recommend anatomy 2 for a summer class since its so fast pace!

Dr. Aretha is amazing. She has a great sense of humor, is understanding, and very helpful. The material is hard and she won't "go easy" on you, but she gives you everything you need to know through lectures, slide shows, and class materials. Go to class (lectures are necessary for this class), study hard and you'll do great!

So obviously this class is hard no matter who you take it with.. I had Aretha for 2 semesters straight and I thought she was great. Shes super funny, and caring. She would make me laugh almost every lecture. This class with her is pretty hard, you have to work for your grade, and she gives no extra credit which sucks but I enjoyed learning A&P

Tough class but Aretha makes it very simple!! I loved her so much and it was heartbreaking having to switch to online classes because being in her lecture physically made me learn the material REALLY well! She cares about every single student and genuinely wants everyone to learn. Shes also very funny. I will miss her so much!

Study every day for the quizzes one every week either for lab or lecture. They aren't difficult just study (use quizlet!). Tells you exactly what you need to study for quizzes, no surprises in class. I really liked Professor Aretha! I was super scared to take Human Anatomy online, but she made the material easy to understand! Tests arent too hard, just study! Not a ton of homework. The class just isnt super organized in my opinion so make sure you check D2L frequently so that you dont miss any quizzes or assignments!

This was the second class I've taken remotely. I thoroughly enjoyed this course and this professor!! This class wasn't an easy A, but if you used the all the resources she gave, it wasn't so bad. She is very helpful and clear with what she tests on. I will take her for AP2!!

Professor Aretha, she is the best teacher I have ever seen. Her class is very interesting. It is well known that AP courses have a certain degree of difficulty, because there are a lot of medical vocabulary to memorize. Teacher Aretha will help students memorize these vocabulary. I'm in her AP1, and I'm going to register her AP2.

She is an amazing professor. She goes off her PowerPoints in lecture, which is what she primarily uses to test you on. Lots of homework but all easy stuff for easy points (the points really add up and can make a huge difference). If you dedicate the necessary time to her class youll do great but be prepared to spend HOURS a week studying.
