good teacher & yes, her tests are really hard, but if u just memorize all the vocab in the notes (she tells u what is on the test) u will pass them.And if u do current events, u get lots of extra credit. careful tho, she is kinda tricky w/ her test quest.

Take notes and go to class and you should be able to be on top of things. Everything is up front, nothing hidden, no surprise tests. Don't be overwhelmed it really isn't too much work. It's a good steady pace.

The main thing to do in her class is to READ AND MEMORIZE the textbook, regularly check the daily news for any major political events(she often uses them as extra credit on her quizes), and ask her lots of questions in class. Oh yeah, and be sure to address her as Dr. Beard.

Her lectures are too short don't point out a lot of the questions you will be faced with on the tests, so READ THE BOOK! That is the only way you will get a descent grade in the class. Just be disciplined in doing your work and keeping up with the reading and you will be ok.

Her methods truly separate the wheat from the chaff. To students who are expecting to glide through the course without applying even a modest amount of effort: she's not the teacher for you. For students who attend college in order to actually *learn*, you will find her class to be mildly challenging and greatly rewarding.

If you can't spell and drop a class after the 1st day you really shouldn't rate someone. I found her very challenging. I made an A but I had to really work at it. She was helpfull outside of class and cared about my progress. You must keep up on current events which really only makes sense considering the subject. Test are fill in the blank! Hard!

Although she is not the best teacher, she is a nice person! All you really have to do is take down her notes (it's where she gets the tests questions from), read a little, do her assignments, which are EASY and do the online tests(they're done at home so there's no reason not to get a perfect score). Go to class early and chat w/ her, it helps.

Professor Beard is not hard...she is simplistic when it comes to her exams. All you must do in class (which is not hard) is participate and read. Reading as an essential asset to this course. She summarizes the readings which is great, but yes...READ !!!!

Lectures were long, boring and kind of muddled. Tests were not too hard if you are good at memorizing. Make sure you write down all of the proofs she puts up in lecture because you have to regurgitate them on tests.

Great professor. Knows her stuff very well. If you read, you'll get a good grade. If you know your stuff from 12th Grade, you're good to go. The down side is to write papers.

Dr.Beard is very clear on the material, but you have to make sure you pay attention to her outlines and what she says. I really enjoyed this class! She does seem to favor certain students, but that's because they participate and express an interest in politics. I actually thought the tests were easy if you follow her notes. Of course you have to study, isn't that expected. She can seem a little intimidating, but I learned a lot from Professor Beard!

She's a great Teacher, if your goal is to learn the material then I recommend taking her class. She is great at explaining the material. Reading the book is mandatory, and if you want an "A" do all x-tra credit, read the book & take all of her notes from the board.

Took her class in 1996 when he was a "new" professor in Mt. Sac. She's actually a pretty decent professors as long as you study the terms and read the book. Her requirements for class projects were all well thought out and helped us learn a lot about current politics.

Tests require you to read the text, but she lets you know what pages to read. Her power points are helpful but they are not answer keys. Tests can be demanding but, c'est la vie, read the book!

At the beginning of the class i thought her class was dreadful and i would never be able to pass. I failed my first two exams horribly. Then prof. Beard told us about tutoring and also getting extra credit points. By the end of the class i passed with a B+. You just have to listen to the things she says that will be on the test.

The class is simple. Just pay attention and you'll get things right. People complain because they felt they needed to kiss ass. If they did the work and didn't wait last minute you earn your own grade duh! Memorize and get the book before taking the class. Any good student can pass this class..not lazy one's.

She is a little unorganized, but has notes on power point to copy. You have to study for the tests from the notes and the text but if you put in just a little work you will do fine. She is super friendly and really cares about the students. Go to her office hours and she will give plenty one on one extra help. I will take her again.

She's my favorite Poli Sci prof. She's a liberal, but every thinking person in the U.S. is. If you're incapable of reading in college, you don't deserve anything more than a D. Memorize the key terms and the power point notes and you'll do peachy. Also, pay attention and don't annoy her. Keeping up with current events helps immensely. Good luck.

Great Teacher, Really Organized. She's really funny. You do have to read the chapter and make an outline but everything is in the book. just READ, READ and REad. the class get really interesting and shes extremely helpful. I took her summer class. It was simple if you just pay attention. One test each week, fairly easy if you study the material SHE GIVES YOU. If you ask her a question, she'll usually tell you if it's on the test or not...which really helps!

DON'T GIVE UP! A lot of people got discouraged half way through because of the journals-big mistake. She's a very, & i emphasize very, easy grader on those. One of the most demanding classes I've ever taken but I learned so much from Dr. Beard. To get an A: keep on top of the weekly journals, read the pages in the book that she gives you for the exams and OUTLINE EACH AND EVERY SECTION, then study off those. You really have to be dedicated and WORK HARD in order to pass. Very nice during office hours.

Dr Beard will give you every chance to achieve an A . If you are having trouble with assignments, she'll always help you to edit and revise. You can earn extra credit every class if you do the work. She is extremely knowledgeable and fair. Her classes are not easy, you really need to work for your grades, but this is college, not elementary school

Do you have to read? Yes. Do you have to write a lot? Yes. Will you become a better student after the end of the semester? Yes! I cannot stress how much my writing skills, presentation skills and critical thinking skills improved as a result of taking this class. This was the most intellectually valuable class I have taken at PCC.

I love Dr. Beard She is awesome! Yes we have to do a lot of reading and study guides for each chapter because tests are given after every 3 chapters. She is very helpful if you need help. If you are extremely lazy this class is not for you but then again this is college you need to work for it!

(Summer class) Tests are long and mostly short answer. She's not too tough of a grader, but you can't expect to pass without studying the material. Extra credit everyday except on test days by means of current events could really bump up your grade. Recommend to anybody willing to study for an easy A.

Professor Beard is by far the easiest professor ever. Her class consists of tests on every 3 chapters. The tests are open book which is really useful. However, they are very long dense tests, so you have to read to get an understanding of what the question is asking. She offers a lot of extra credit so take advantage because it helps!

Her tests were open book including the midterm & final, which was SO helpful, but if you want an A, make sure to read the chapters as well. Throughout the 16 weeks, 20 (2-3 pages) journals (essays) are due during midterms & also finals. I turned in less than half of the 40 essays and she still gave me an A! Professor Beard is great. Professor Beard is all about lectures on powerpoint open notes for tests and quizzes. Her tests are writing long sentences for one question. You must read the book. But she is very helpful when asking for your grade, help on an assignment. She is a very tough professor with such great knowledge for politics and she's amazing in teaching.

Easy Class I have ever taken she is super Easy all you do is copy and paste Answers from book to your test. Must have the book in physical form. Don't buy the book just print them our not worth paying $70 buck for the ebook and then forced to buy the physical book for another $20.

Professor Beard for Poli Sci 2 is amazing! The homework is very heavy, the homework is SO MUCH work but that does not mean you cannot do it. You just need to try your best. Poli Sci majors should take her for this class because she gives the basic information you need to know because as a poli sci major you need to know how to read ALOT. GREAT PROF

I adore Beard, I understand she's not everyones cup of tea but I think her assignments are really fun. The class discussions were really fascinating and I loved hearing her opinion about current events. I may be biased since I am a poli sci major but her class made me really interested in foreign affairs.

Prof. Beard is a doctor I personally revere highly. She gives you feedback. The class (PolSci 1) was as difficult as any other class. She allows you to do extra credit. Gives you videos to watch. And tells you what to study and go over when a test is coming up.

Having Dr. Beard as my gov. professor during this year was one of my favorite things about this semester. All of our assignments were informative, as well as really interesting as she kept us updated with current events and the context surrounding them. It was a pretty easy class, but I have to say that I really enjoyed it.

Dr. Beard's polysci 1 class is strictly exams. The questions are easy. I was also enrolled in her polysci 2 but that class was extremely hard. Polysci 1 def an easy A!

This class was the easiest class I have ever taken. I bought the textbook for $40 online and I only used it once or twice. The test are all multiple choice. You can find almost all the answers online. Would definitely recommend taking her class.

Great class to take during quarantine!

I'm thankful for taking this class, she's combine test each weeks and all exam and break out equally for each week so we don't need to work when come exam, I have others class to take, it very difficult for me when come time for exam. class currently going on, I did not have grade yet, but I able to see her on zoom and Thanks her.

I took this course online for Fall 2021, and it was truly an easy A. She gave exams every week but they were so easy, focused primarily on key terms and lecture material. She also provides a study guide to help, she's sweet and does care! And she is always willing to help if you have any questions.

I never actually interacted with Prof Beard. But I had no need to since her class is clearly laid out and broken down so I literally had no questions for her the whole semester. Basically you read a chapter a week and take a test. Ample time to complete the timed test. She added great videos too associated with the chapter. Definitely recommend.

Online class version. No lectures, no textbooks, just reading assignments in modules. Weekly quizzes that are multiple choice graded out of 90 points. Two essay style writing assignments based off videos. Opportunities for extra credit. Great class experience, I was stressing about taking PoliSci 001 but it ended up being super manageable.

Took his asynchronous class during summer break, it was super easy to pass his test because some of the questions you can search online. There are 3 extra credit assignments to write a 1-page essay on a video. There is also 2 homework that is the same as the extra credit. SUPER EASY TO PASS, my grade was over 100%

She is very knowledgable and always willing to help even out of time, material is carefully selected and easy to study, essay subjects are very interesting.

Extremely easy professor. A little difficult to reach by email. I had her for my asynchronous class, all we had were weekly quizzes/tests. There was one difficult test that required you to write a lot but the rest of them were all very easy and straight forward. No hwk! Great professor. Textbook is not needed and she provides you with a online one with all the reading you need for the week included. Very caring and helpful, her office hours make it easy to reach her, which you may not even need to do with how easy her course is. Attendance is needed but not mandatory as most of the assignments are all online.

This class was very easy to take, The only downside is that she locks all her assignments after the deadline so no late work is taken, i unfortunately missed 2 exams and 1 assignment that I was not able to make up, and this caused my grade to drop to a B. I liked her a lot! She's caring, gives extra credit, and assigns manageable work (mostly short essays). But, her POLS 002 is not easy since the exams are time limited and they are all ESSAY QUESTIONS, so don't take her is you are just looking for a easy A. Overall a very good experience.

Pro. Beard's Intro to Poly Sci course is as easy as it gets. You have to complete one quiz per week with 4 short writing assignments sprinkled throughout the 16-week course. Very easy, and simple, and she provides extra credit randomly.

I took this class because it was an election year, and I'm glad I did! The professor was fantastic and made history engaging and enjoyable. Be prepared for plenty of notes, weekly tests, and readings. My class was online, so I could work at my own pace, but as long as you stay on track, it's very manageable. I'd definitely take this class again!

This was an online course and it was very well organized and modules are easy to follow. You will have 3 essays to complete, but she provides you with all the material you need. You will have a test at the end of each week that corresponds to the lecture readings for that specific week. Since there's a lot of reading, chunk it & you'll be fine.

Very easy outline to follow, go through the weekly modules for the exam and you will be fine. A few papers throughout the semester but she grades very easily and will give you extra credit if you write more than what is required. A very easy A if you need this class as a requirement.

Summer 6-week course, easiest class ever. Practically no homework, just a 30 question quiz every week. You can just skim the textbook and do well. Quizzes are just common sense facts, such as "Which amendment protects the right to free speech?". Only 2 essays asking for opinion on Obama and Trump speeches. Gives extra credit for writing more.

Took Online Course; easiest A ever. Read the provided content, and def use the notes and study guide. Weekly Tests of the provided reading material but they really aren't that hard imo. The occasional writing assignment's aren't bad either; I got extra credit for each of them so make sure to do them especially if the tests are hitting you hard!

Very chill professor if you have to take for credit do it so easy, she trys to scare you off but its just online test the whole time and 2 essays under a page. Very nice you have to go in person to get a grade tho, everything is done online and if you take her two days a week you dont have to show up for the second day if you finish your test.

Lectures are tedious but you must participate to counted as present. Only three exams, mostly discussion and writing assignments. There are two "essays" but it's just three paragraphs.
