SHE IS A HORRIBLE TEACHER!NEVER TAKE HER CLASS! A&P 1; SHE DOENST HELP STUDENT AND JUST THROW CHAPTERS AT YOU! SHE IS STRESS OUT AND DESORGANIZED!
this professor is very bad and i dont recommend students to choose her. she makes the class harder beside its hardness. she is not helpful at all. she just read the power piont, she doesnt explain clearly.
SHE IS THE WORST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD IN MY COLLEGE YEARS! She's selfish and doesn't care about students life. Just into her own little WORLD.Please don't take this opinion for granted if you wanna suceeed in anatomy& physiology which it's a hard course. She makes the class bored and difficult. No teaching skills at all!!!!
Prof Black is a good professor. The subject is hard, and she won't pass you if you don't know the info. She answers questions clearly and is understanding of personal problems as long as she sees that you are putting the proper amount of effort into the class. If you want to learn and not just pass, take her class.
If you plan to take this class through the Distance Learning, don't!! The subject is hard enough and requires a dedicated teacher, this prof is not. She is not on top of things; doesn't grade papers in a timely manner, her Power Point slides, study guides, and exams are not updated according to newer text book, and exams are long and difficult.
Tests on what is talked about in class and what is in the powerpoint notes. Very nice and understanding.
Clear, fair, knowledgeable
easy class but professor not helpful if you are having problems downloading power points
I liked her. Will take for A&PII. EVERY SINGLE question on the test comes directly out of her powerpoints. Never opened the book. Didn't use the Lab Manual to study. All you need to do is study the powerpoints - and understand the concepts you will do fine! Any time she says "AGAIN, ...." that is ON the test!!!!
If you really want to succeed & not just have a teacher who gives extra credit to pass you, Prof. Black is a great teacher. My sister is very ill & Prof. Black is very understanding. Those who say she's not understanding probably don't put in the 20+ hrs. of study time & don't show up for class. I don't want them taking care of my health
Horrible professor, does not respond to emails, teaches you nothing, reads power points & that is all. No review or study guides. You have to study 50 things for tests that only have 10 things.
I had mrs black for both anatomy physiology 1 and 2. She is a wonderful professor, goes over things several times, answers all questions. Tests are over her power points If you know the powerpoints, you'll get an A. Wonderful teacher, couldnt have gotten through the class with a different one.
I would say don't take her for this class. She tends to read directly off the slide and gives you no extra valuable info to help retain the info. To me it is just like taking an online class. She doesn't promote or even give the opportunity for any in class participation unless it is irrelevent to what you need to know.
DON'T TAKE PROFESSOR BLACK!! She doesn't apply material into real life situations. Has a tendency to ask if theres any questions while looking at her power point (which she reads directly from)one person will say no and she'll say "moving on" without giving you the opportunity to think.Doesn't respond to e-mails, papers take forever to be graded!!!
She acts as though you are bothering her when you she her during her office hours, and she is not helpful if you are having problems.
I completely agree with all the other comments. I am taking her right now and she is not very helpful. However, I personally think it's a very easy class because EVERYTHING on the tests is on the powerpoints. Every test we've had, I make note cards from the PPTs and I have gotten 80%+ on every one! She's not very educated but it isn't hard to pass!
I am just finishing her class and I would say dont take her if you need a B or highter to help your GPA. Her tests are hard unless you memorize the power points. (EVERY WORD) Thats all she teaches from. She is horrible about getting tests back in a timly manner and can be defensive and a bit unapproachable. I will not be taking her for A&P II.
Professor Black is nice and is willing to answer questions. Her tests are not too difficult if you actually study for them. However, she makes frequent mistakes when grading tests, but she does take the time to correct them so the grading is fair. You never take notes because she gives you a CD with the powerpoints. I would take her for A&P II.
does not teach, just sits on stool and flips through a powerpoint READING the slides. no concern for students, not helpful, says to ask questions and rude or not helpful when students ask them. overcomplicates the material. does not prepare you for tests. may be on a power trip.
Test are extremely difficult and long. Forget multiple choice or fill in the blank. I had a 4.0 last semester, this class is killing my GPA...& it's only 2 credits! I go to every class, make flash cards, & have a study group, it's still bad. The class is beside themselves of how impossible most of the test is. She does not prepare you well.
Very har, one would think they were in med school
please, don't take her.
(Anatomy class)I agree...you will feel like you are in Med School..the only plus is that she wants you to KNOW the information..not just for the test..but also for your future. She has her positives and a lot of negatives. Hey..it pays off in the future I must admit. But you have to work hard or your GPA WILL suffer. She has no remorse.
The secret to success is to memorize the power points that she gives you on a disc. ALL test questions come directly from Power Points. NOT Expanded Outcomes & NOT the text book. 100% memorization of the power points and u will get an "A" like me. This professor is highly educated and knows her stuff. You will learn a lot from her.
If you take her class it'll be like going to hell to meet satan. If you care about your GPA PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER! She is horrible and doesn't know how to teach. All she does is read powerpoints. When asked a question she replies I am not a doctor I don't know.
Very motivating professor, if you are moving towards a Biology/Anatomy/Physiology Major. Her tests were pretty hard. She likes to mark up the test papers with red ink, if it isn't the EXACT answer she was looking for, and I thought that was unfair. Learned alot, but wouldn't sign up for another of her classes.
I was scared after reading all the past comments. But I thought she was awesome. She teaches from powerpoint but explains everything and is knowledgeable.ALL TESTS come from herpowerpoints.I answered the "student outcome" fromthe CD it was extra work but it helped.Recording class also helps.I would take her again because you know what to expect.
I got an A in her class. I respect her for putting "fear" into students to study, work hard or get out. If your going into aedical field, nothing will be handed to you, you have to be good. BUT, she was irritated if interrupted with questions, she could seem VERY defensive & aloof. She teaches in a very hurried manner, Power Point SO boring!
She works really hard for students that realy want to go some where. The kids that seam like it should all be just handed to them has a hard time. She is fair :)
She talks very fast, but if you attend class and review the power points she gives you, you can get an A. I would take another class of hers for sure, this time I know what to expect
Professor Black is an average teacher. She teaches directly from the PowerPoints, which can make class pretty dull. All information for tests comes right from the PowerPoints, so you don't have to do any of the reading from the textbook. My only complaint was that she was not great at returning e-mails or test grades.
Good teacher. She teaches from powerpoints and tests from them also. You only need the book for brief descriptions of body systems. No attendance taken. Recommend taping lectures for review before a test. You only take the final if you missed a test or want to try for a better overall grade. I recommend her if you are serious about learning!
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE.. I got an A but only because it's bio basics and i did all AP in high school.. She was just a bad teacher and constintly marked correct questions wrong. She tries to make what's supposed to be the easiest class on planet earth a weeder class when it's definately not supposed to be. I speculate her degree was purchased online.
thought she was an interesting teacher, good class discussion, tests were challenging though
She is very nice but all she does is read from a power point. I didn't find it very informative at all...i wouldn't recommend. She also takes a long time to email you back.
Very Critical.. She bases everything on her powerpoint. Doesn't answer emails. Her test are mainly word problems and if you misspell a word she takes off half a point from that question. She never once used the book. If you like learning on your own she's good to take. Because everything is with her power point if your a visual learner and hands on
I liked her Human Biology class. It was not easy but it was interesting. I would take her for A&PI or II. I studied from her power points plus read the textbook for aditional info. She gave extra credit for stuff that sometimes it is not on power point but in the book, so be aware.
Reads powerpoints only, then expects you to take notes on them when she has said nothing else. Tests are ridiculous. Short answers are even worse. Thinks she knows it all but when asked a question, can't answer it. Often goes back to correct something she has said, quite confusing. Absolutely no give on anything. You miss something, too bad.
She makes the class hard for no reason. If you dnt memorize the power points then you will fail. So dont waste time buying the book. i really hate this class but im stuck with it so i have to work my butt off
Not helpful, attitude problem, doesn't use textbook at all, only uses the lab book, has about 8 exams,1 research paper, don't bother asking questions because it doesn't help, and the "labs" if thats what you wanna call them suck, theres no point of going to class besides test days & lab book checks because she reads right off the powerpoint slides!
TESTS ARE EXTREAMLY HARD NO GRADING CURVE. ALWAYS SHORT ANSWERS. MUST BE VERY PRECEICE
I thought that she was way too hard and impossible until I took my Biological Science class. If it wasn;t for her Human Biology class I would probobly be failing. She's tough, but she teaches you what you need to know it you plan on continueing in biology. Biology is hard, all the cry babies need to get over it.
Very hard and not clear in explanations
Warning: Do not take this class. If there?s no other teacher available go to another campus or wait until next semester. 4 test and 2 bogus papers make the entire grade. She talks very fast and refuses to answer valid questions, they might take time to answer. Unless you already have a complete understanding of this subject, don?t take the class.
did not like
THe is Hard. She does alot of her notes in powerpoint. That's where she base her test on. If you can memorize all the powerpoint notes you might be able to pass. She makes you write short answers in your test and if you misspelle something or are not precise on your answer she takes away points. She never goes over the book.
AVOID HER!!! I busted my a** in this class, I even had a tutor. She doesn't answer ANY of your questions. Has issues. Test are hard and confussing. She's not committed to teach, I don't know why she does it. Unless you have a lot of patience and time and you're very very very committed to the class, you'll do Ok. if not then GET AWAY FROM HER!!
I, like many others thought she was horrible and hard before taking her, until I started taking bio I and bio II. She's actually very easy.. just remember the power points and you will have an A++. I feel like I almost owe her an apology for whining with the rest of the class. Bio is hard. Get over it :)
Pro black was one of the worst teacher i had she was not helpful all her notes are all on power points she is not very helpful i advise you not to take her
Bad! GET OU ASAP! no help at all...also might as well not go to class because she reads right off her powerpoints
lazy, doesn't care, late on her test results and responding to questions, no interest in helping you learn, just wants the paycheck, same powerpoints and doesn't answer questions.
The class itself is difficult, but she tells you exactly what you need to know. Study the powerpoints and you don't even need the book. Tests are fairly difficult if you lack memorization skills, but they are fair (except the lab practicals. I want a word bank). She's pleasant and fairly easygoing personality-wise.
she goes to fast...she does not clarify what is going to be on the test...overall avoid problems and do not take her!!
She failed me the first time but when I went back over my tests from the previous semester I passed. She will not give you your tests back, will not answer a question. Tells you one thing and does another. You have to watch her carefully when it comes to your grade. DO NOT TAKE
She goes way too fast. She acts as if we are stupid when questions are asked but seems irritable when we don't ask questions. She pretty much yelled at me through her notes on my wrong questions on tests. The semester is over and I still don't have grades for 3 of tests. She tells us to email her for grades but get no response. Don't take!!!!!
She uses power points for every chapter, but if you know them inside and out you'll pass every test. She isn't that difficult.
She is HORRIBLE !!! DO NOT TAKE HER !!! If you feel like wasting your time and MONEY, do take her. She does NOT know how to teach, NEVER uses text book, so dont bother buying it !!! I barely passed her class with a C and Im NOT a C student, she makes her class difficult for no reason !!! So..good luck to whoever is taking her...
She is very unorganized and doesnt make any sense. She always makes mistakes when grading her test and doesn't go over them to see if she was wrong just waits for you to find her mistakes. She locked 3 of us out for being 2 min. late. She takes points off for spelling.Ridiculus. Do yourself a favor and take Machini:)
Extremely nice. Tests are hard if you don't study the powerpoints. No work in class or for homework except for 2 papers that were a piece of cake. Don't need the textbook. If you're willing to study the material she's great.
I would definatly choose another teacher if possible..she moves very very fast and gives rude remarks when questions are asked. does not clarify anything that is not written in powerpoint already. i never got a grade for a test i took and emailed her several times and talked to her in class about it! do NOT take.
Does not use the book at all. Very fast paced teacher. Study the powerpoints and KNOW them and you will get an A. If you don't study them you will fail. It's that simple. She doesn't baby student which I like. With her you either know the material or you don't. Don't take this teacher if you are just looking for an easy A.
This is one of the most challenging classes I've ever taken. Even if you study the powerpoint notes to the point that your head hurts, you still won't get an A on a test. She is way too nitpicky on the tests. Even on the short answer portion, if you make one little mistake, you get it all wrong. It wouldn't be so bad if she gave a study guide.
1 hr tests, mixed format. No lecture, just her reading her pwr pt slides very fast, no time to write notes, to formulate a question or get it answered. Classes were dismissed over an hour early -which means there is no time to process or discuss information. This class is definitely for self-learners. Book is a waste of money. Use the internet!
Avoid this professor if you can. There are better teachers at Edison who will actually allow you a chance to find A&P interesting. She also makes this class way harder than necessary. Power trip? Who knows...but she needs to make some alterations to her teaching method.
horribbleeeeee!! reads VERBATIM from PPT's, takes off for spelling, and doesn't explain clearly. If you are the person who can know over 150 slides verbatim for her tests than this class is for you! you will get an A if you know them exactly. if not, dont expect an A..or a B..
the worse professor I've even had in my entire life!! Avoid if you can!
take a different professor. She just reads off the powerpoint. You need to know the powerpoints in and out to pass her test. she takes off for spelling. Her grading makes no sense and she makes alot of mistakes. she also get catty when you ask her a questions and talks to you like ur dumb. dont buy the book.
Talks as fast as any broadcaster
If you need an A do not take her class.Very bad teacher, she does not follow through with what she says, rude, and takes major points off your test for any error. She says she teachers by the book, not true at all.
About Prof. Black: Positive points: She knows the material. NEGATIVE POINTS: She ONLY reads the powerpoints, there is really no practical lab. For lab, she will literally put out a box of bones and say "go look at them". She is VERY picky about answers on tests. Takes off points for minor spelling mistakes, NO REVIEW for exams. AVOID!!!!!!
At first I thought she'll be an ok teacher but turns out, she's horrible. Sure the power points are helpful, but her test say something completely different. Study all you want, you can't get an A. She doesn't want to help her students much, it's just let them feed for themselves. In truth, please don't take her. Seriously.
She's NOT a warm & fuzzy professor and has a very type A personality. She doesn't have time for a conversation with you. Ever. So don't try. That being said, it's easy to get an A. Read chapters, go to lecture, and seek to understand the concepts. The syl has an "Expanded Outcomes" sheet in it. Know it for each test. My test grades:100,98,101,99,90
Very knowledgeable. Talks fast to cover the large amount of material that needs to be covered. Tests are tough, but if you study, you learn the material, which you need to know for your career anyways. Expectations are presented at beginning of semester. If you can't handle hard work, don't take her. I will take her for 1094 also.
Must be a excellent student and memorize slides. Check every test for grading errors, but don't bother to address them. She hates to be asked questions, it complicates things. She's horrible dont take her!
Good professor. Tests are tough but if you study the power points and read the book you will do fine. i believe that the course should be a little tough because it is so competitive to get into the Nursing and other AS programs.
she's a tough teacher, she doesn't really like being asked questions about her grading. she's very clear though when she's teaching.
Black is the worst teacher. Don't bother going to class unless you need to do a lab(which are few and far between). All she does is read off her ppt. You can do that at home. Tests are straight from ppt, so don't buy the text. Lots of short answer qts. on the test. Do not ask her anything! She will shoot you down and make you feel stupid!
AVOID!!!!!
She seems to be there only for the paycheck.
not the greatest
I LOVE Prof. Black! She is awesome. I've taken 2 of her classes and am about to take a 3rd. The bad reviews she has gotten are from people who didn't do the work and then blamed it on her when they got a bad grade. She is hard. BUT, she will do anything to help you. You have to do the work though. She really does care and is a very good teacher!
Prof Black was not half as bad as everyone makes her out to be. If you study the power points, you will be fine. She does what she can to give you extra help if need be.You have to take some time to study, but she is a lot better than prof Allen. (I've had them both.)
Her class is 99% power points so study/memorize them and you will do well. Her wording on a few of her test questions can be suspect but she will expect you to know what she means. The lecture portion is comprised of her reading the power points and I never opened the book once. In fact just don't buy it. Its a waste of money.
The lady gets a bad rap. I very much enjoyed the class. I took it in the summer, so it was extremely tough, but I definitely knew the material when it was over. You must study, study, study to do well. Sometimes words the questions to try to slip you up. She can take things a little too seriously (locking the door so you don's see the set-up).
worse teacher I've ever had
The written part of her test questions has to be answered word for word with her power points and lectures. She'll mark you wrong even if you know the answer but didn't answer it with the same sentence structure she used in her power points or lectures.
She's a great professor!
Was very excited about this material, she made it not fun. She teaches directly from the PP. The main thing I felt helpful were the links to some animated videos in the back of the book. She tells you something then forgets and says should have emailed me. Circles and marks spelling errors. Never posted finals exam grades, then left town.
I knew everything but it was all twisted and reworded on the test so the right answer was the wrong one. She gave me a D when I got a C and left town to where it took her a week to fix it. Meanwhile my A&P2 class got dropped cause I "Didn't meet the requirements" when I did and went to sign up again the class was unavailable so that is another seme
Worst teacher I have had. I went into this class loving the material and excited to go over. She teachers from power point. nver mentioned the additional links in the back of the book, which explained things better, learned that in a study group. She isn't always nice about the way she answers questions. Final exam grades not posted, then left town
Contrary to others, I like the way she handles her class. All exams are from power points, dont buy the book. Short answers need to be verbatum. Do the work and you'll get your grade. She's not going to make it easy for you. Would you want a medical professional that didnt know their stuff working on you? Quit complaining--study and earn your grade
Rather easy in the beginning, after the drop date she hits you with a test every week... Doesn't like to help with anything and laughs when you ask for help. I have such a desire for anatomy, and she didn't enhance that in any way. It seems like she just wants to be known as a tough professor, not as a tough but helpful one. I don't recommend her.
I dont think this teacher should get the kind of comments she gets. I dont know how much easier she can make the test. theres 2 in class test that you can use ur laptop for, 2 take home test, 1 test you cant use notes on, and a make up test just in case your grades are still to low.She is pretty stricked tho, shes not one for excuses.
This professor was horrible. She is direct about what you needed but her examples on the test are horrible and the models she uses make one question what she is asking for. I wrote long form that if "you're pointing at this, the answer is this, or if you're pointing at that, the answer was that" I had both answers write but she marked the ans wrong
Very good at explaining difficult material. Because of her teaching I got a 95 on the nursing entrance exam.
She is a fantastic Professor! She is VERY clear about what she wants for the tests, she has her own powerpoints and if you only study the powerpoints you will an A! I have learned so much in her class and she has a great personality. Extremely helpful and I highly recommend her. I'm taking her again for A&P 2.
All she does is reads from the power points. Does not go into detail on the subjects. Has test every week over 3 or more chapters. When asking for help she just tells you to go refer to the lab book or her power points.
She is very nice as far asm her personality. As far as teaching... well thats a different story. SHE IS EXTEREMLY DIFFUCULT!!!!You must know ALL OF THE POWERPOINTS. Your test are from left field and may consist of approx 30 multiple choice, fill in the blank, true or false and DEFFINATELY 5-6 ESSAY QUESTIONS.DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!
professor. Only took her because I needed this class before I could apply to my program in Oct. Only reads from power points. Any trained monkey can do that. Doesn't actually TEACH. Worst part is she doesn't hand tests back. Sits tests on a table & has everyone come up to get them. Everyone knows everybody's grade because of that. PURE LAZINESS!!
Good teacher overall. She does speak really fast during the lectures, but she posts the powerpoints online so you can study them later if you have to. She gives study guides for all the exams and if you do them you will get a good grade. She also gave a lot of take home exams which are so much easier. The other assignments are easy.
Study the PowerPoints, ask questions attend class and you will be amazed
Professor Black's Anatomy and Pysiology I went above and beyond my expectations! She is an amazing professor and she really does care, she just doesn't hold your hand. You have to be dedicated or you won't get a good grade. I don't understand the not so great reviews as I loved her class and it seemed like everyone else did as well.
The worst. Unless you a genius with anatomy do not take her! Makes this subject 10 times harder than it is. She is mean, interrupts you mid way through asking a question, laughs at you for other questions, is confusing, talks a million miles an hour, and makes the tests ridiculously hard and confusing. So bad words cannot describe.
This class is NOT hard. Read through the powerpoints 3+ times and look at the study guide for obvious hints as to what short answer q's will be on the tests. There are only so many possible q's...The "lab" part of the class consists almost solely of doing the lab workbook (answers in the back if needed...) Mrs. Black is a fair professor.
Professor Black lectures straight from the powerpoints. Take home tests are tricky. Not a fair grader. She marks wrong for PUNCTUATION and takes points off if you put a comma in the wrong place. Content should be graded for a Bio class. It isn't a writing intensive course but she grades your two paragraph responses as if it is.
I took 2 classes with professor Black and I thought she was great! I'm not the best college student out there but I did just fine in her class. The tests are easy with the powerpoints and study guides she provides. You'll take a few different field trips and they really help you out. I'd take her again in a second. No text books needed.
It was a good class. If you complete the lab book and study you'll pass.
Great prof, knows her stuff and enthusiastic. Explains difficult material very well. Spends time working with small groups of students going over lab materil, posts helpful stuff on course website. If you study PowePoints and study guide, you'll do well.
she covers AP well but with the time long in class time she covers it way too fast. She Is basically just a PowerPoint reader. Her tests are hard and she covers too much at one time for the test to have no word bank, however it does make you study harder often times in vein when 1/2 of the material is not on the test. Overall a bad experience.
Prof. Black was a great teacher. She tested straight off her power points. You have all the material necessary in front of your nose. Will you take the time to memorize it? That will determine your grade honestly. I wish i would have taken her for anatomy 2, i now have a professor that is unpredictable and i now realize how lucky i was to have C Bl
Very strict but fair. Good use of laboratory. Well prepare for classes.
lots of field trips, easy take home tests!!
Great Professor. I had my doubts before taking her class, but She is a fair grader. If you study the power points you will pass.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! SHE CARES MORE ABOUT SPELLING THEN MAKING SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM. YOU WILL BE AT A DISADVANTAGE IN FUTURE CLINICAL CLASSES FROM HER (LACK OF) TEACHING. ALSO SHE NEVER RESPONDS TO EMAILS OR ANSWERS ANY QUESTIONS. SHE WAS NEVER AVAILABLE. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.
Professor Black is good in some ways but horrible in others. She's great in the sense that she's enthusiastic about the material and if you study the power points, you'll ace her tests! However, anytime you ask her a question she makes you feel stupid for asking. Also, she marks questions wrong for spelling. Be willing to work REALLY hard!!
RUN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION AS FAR AS YOU CAN GO! The worst professor I have come across. She makes you feel stupid for asking questions & her exam questions are nothing that she taught us herself. She reads a power point & expects you to be as intelligent as her when we are supposed to be learning.
worst professor i've ever taken. rude. not helpful. Awful. do not take
Professor Black is an amazing professor! The questions on her test are only from the powerpoints. She doesn't put random questions from the book in there. A&p is a subject where the only way to learn it is to study on your own and pay attention in class.
This Professor was rude and unlike many of the comments you'll read it was not at all a good learning experience.
She is really easy, she lets you work in groups for labs. She gives you everything that will be on her quizzes in the study guide. I had no problems asking questions, but heard her be rude to others. I am taking her for A&P. Others did not like her, I did.
Great professor. The class is difficult but Professor Black clearly states what she expects. If you do all of the labs you get the easy points. The tests are from the powerpoints and she has a study guide to follow for every chapter. I would recommend taking her if you want to have a good foundation in anatomy and physiology.
Rude teacher! Not willing to help or explain! If you ask questions, she will demean you. She gives quizzes and her tests are VERY difficult. And her Bone ID and Muscle ID are 50 questions and you have 30 minutes to complete them, nearly impossible. And she does Lab Book check twice (very easy, but long). And she covers basically the whole book...
The professor stated she was going to make us work for our grade. When you leave her class if you pass you know you worked hard. She makes a hard class more difficult. She covers chapters quickly and let's us out of class at least 1hr early. It's only a 2 hour class. Does not seem interested in teaching just getting thru chapters quickly.
Teacher not interested in teaching only going over chapter quickly. Study guide does not match test questions. Expects you to memorize all 206 bones names, locations and correct spelling in 5 days and is fill in the blank with no word bank to match to, along with one other chapter. Does not communicate with students well. Get out 1hr early everyday
Professor Black is a power tripper who gets off on making you miserable!!! Don't ask a question, she will make you feel like a fool... NO WORD BANKS, NO MULTIPLE CHOICE!!! Worse thing I ever did was pick her class. I have been set back now thanks to her. I study very hard, but it did not matter, still failed every test. RUN AWAY. FAIR WARNING!!!!!!
A&P is a hard course already but Prof Black isn't much help. Flies through all her lectures! (Good because you get to leave class early but bad because she is way too fast!) Study guide is pointless. But she did give use almost 3 weeks to learn the bones (90%) and a week and half for the muscles (97%). ALL YOU NEED FOR CLASS IS LAB BOOK!!!!
Blows by lectures. Powerpoint reader. Really uninterestedpassionate. Just present for the paycheck. Has memory issues like when things are due or when the next class is. Worst part of all is she's very rude and negative towards students, ask a question about anything and she will demeanshoot you down. Hard to approach, very bad experience.
love the subject hated the lectures. She speak way too fast to understand the material. She reads directly from powerpoints, so if you can read for yourself there is no need to attend class because it won't improve your grade.
The class is quite easy! She doesn't take attendance therefore attending class is not mandatory. She posts all the power points online so just read them and skim over the book and you will be fine. Make sure you show up for field trips and when there is a speaker so you can turn in the reports. Oh and finals are optional I got a B cause I was lazy.
She just reads from the power point like word for word. I stopped coming to class because I can just get the stuff online. Also I hated going on the field trips because I have a job and I usually couldn't make it back on time. I would take this class online if I could do it over.
Teacher seemed unapproachable at first, but as class went on she came around. She DOES NOT like silly questions and will let you know. Tests are from powerpoints and lab book and are pretty straight forward. Coming to class not mandatory you can read the material at home. Study guide is kind of helpful. She does go fast but you can keep up!
Professor Black is clear with her expectations. She does read right from the power point so attending class is only necessary to find out when assignments are due. The exams come right from the power points and the lab book. Although she seems 'mean' at first, I think she is just strict when teaching difficult material so fast.
Lectures lasted typically 45 minutes to an hour. Tests were tricky. All the material on test were in her power points, not in the textbooks, so there's no point in looking at it. Not very helpful during office hours. You have to work for the grade. Other classes had advantages like word banks for muscle and bone identification.
Reads word by word on a powerpoint. Everything she talk's about is a huge problem, problems here, problems there. Typically environmentalist who doesn't care much about the advantages. Rather looks at the negatives and how the world is a huge problem. I wouldn't recommend her at all. Boring class. As well don't skip class, she will take points off.
This class was slightly easier than I expected. The lecture is her reading from the powerpoints and sometimes she will add a little info that is not written on the powerpoint. All the powerpoints are provided on canvas as well as study guides for the exams. Class ended early 99% of the time. The labs were just completing the lab book at home.
Professor Black is a power point reader, be prepared to learn on your own, 8 test graded based on points not %. test answers on power point you must memorize it. all you need is the lab book; however, she will be posting the answers on canvas. only about 7 pass the class with B She does not care for her students, does not like to answer questions
Professor Black was a wonderful professor, I took her for A & P II and it was hard, but she was clear in her expectations of you. She does read from the power point, but also tried to use various teaching methods in order to help people who learn different ways. She allowed us plenty of time to work with the models to better learn! Great Professor
Dr. Black isn't good or bad. She connects with her students during lectures. I took her for condensed AP2 and studied soooooooo much, but still only passed with a C. Heavy on minor detail T/F questions. SOME test material is clearly outlined, but there will be curveballs. Know your material and then know everything else.
Very dull lectures. She reads straight from the power points. Most of the exams & hw are from the text & lab books. Spelling counts on her practicals. But she misspells in her powerpoints. If you ask a question that she doesn't know the answer to, don't expect her to find out. Just expect a smart reply back of "I don't know I wasn't there"
I took her twice. She has a rep for being snippy, but I never suffered because of it. She is straightforward, with a clinical bedside manner. If you do your reading AND work out of your lab manual to study for the tests (as well as use her study guide), you will be fine. I received A's for Bio Lab and AP I.
I do not understand why she has such terrible reviews. She teaches the hardest class until students get into nursing programs. She does not give extra credit because she wants to make sure we are all well prepared before we get into our programs. She works with student one-on-one to help explain things better if needed. Great teacher!
Anatomy does not need to be this difficult, even with the heavy concentration of information. Impatient when students asked questions. Hurried during lecture to get the lab started, rather than smoothly transition. Just gives you the information as is with no exchange or feedback when there are people who need extra help or had questions.
Professor Black is a good professor, but her class is very tough and is not easy. She is very good at explaining things and is willing to help if you ask for it. Study from the lab book and her power points. She is a tough grader and takes off points for spelling. The ID exams are easy if you study as she gives plenty of time in the lab to identif
No extra credit only 1 paper worth 20 points no one got 20 in my class. only need lab book. must memorize the power points word by word like 64-74 slides in order to pass the test 8 to 10 test are given be on time or be ready for a nasty attitude even if it was an emergency she does not care power point reader don't teach anything or give examples
You get what you deserve, is all I have to say about her. Her tests and quizzes are very fair and correlate exactly to what is on the ppt. If you go to her lectures and listen you will pass with an A. The material is simple as long as you study it. Some say she is a tough grader but wait until you get to your upper division classes
Professor Black definitely has a bad rep on here for NO REASON. I'm happy I took her for A&P 1 & A&P 2 rather than the other offered professors. ANATOMY IS NOT AN EASY COURSE, professor Black is straightforward and gives the shortest PowerPoints that are full of information that are on her tests. She also gives out all of the Lab Book answers!
Took Professor Black for A&P I and now I'm taking her for A&P II! She's tough but you learn what you need to in order to keep moving on! She makes you work for it but she's caring and can be funny!
She is a great teacher if you pay attention, do the work, and study your butt off. This class is hard but its like this for a reason, anyone going into the health profession has to take this type of class and its a way to thin out the people that wont work their butts off to pass the class from the people who will.
She tells you what to study, but then surprise you with extra questions that she did not mention to study on her tests. She is also has a snappy attitude when questions are asked about assingments, and when students have concerns about their grades. She "does not have time for that".
Reads straight off the power-point and does not explain well. I took her last semester and started the class with 34 people, left with 14 at withdrawal period, and about 8 passed at the end of the semester. Her teaching technique is awful. Unreachable outside of class. Read the power-point and chapters heavily or you're doomed
She was an okay professor.
Stickler for spelling. One wrong letter and its marked wrong. Theres no word bank on tests. Either you know the material or you don't . Plan on studying A LOT
Professor Black rushes through her powerpoints, reading them word for word. She does not review for the test. She says, "ANYTHING I cover could be on the test." Tests are FILL IN THE BLANK. I visited her office hours at 12:30 knowing that they were open until 12:55 and she brushed me out of there because of a doctor's appointment.
Yeah, She's the typical anatomy professor. Of course it's going to be tough. She has pretty good powerpoints though and she will answer any questions you have. She cares that you pass but will make you work for it. I missed like 8 classes and finished with a B
Anatomy is one of the hardest classes that you can take. You can't expect it to be easy. Most of the studying needs to be done on your own. If you want an A you need to work for it. Professor Black gives you all the tools you need to pass. She provides study guides, and requires work out of the lab manual. She genuinely cares about her students.
It's hard to understand her lectures. She always read the lesson in the power point word for word and sometimes her study guides are not in the exams. lots of Memorizing I drop this class because I'm sure I would not pass it. Anatomy is hard I know that but she is not a good professor for me.
She gives you what you need to pass. There are power points, keys, lab answers, study guides, and outlines. If you are complaining about that class, then I would say the problem is with the rater, not her. She does get a little annoyed with questions sometimes but, her bark is bigger than her bite. She will explain. I thought she was good.
Definitely the worst teacher I've had in all my years of school, no exaggeration. She reads off powerpoints only, and doesn't bother to actually teach her students so they can comprehend. She gets mad if you ask her questions and is a very tough grader, I'm talking taking points of for spelling even if it's a letter. She also gives no extra credit.
She was an alright Professor... if you read the textbook, lab manuals, and study extra hard you can earn atleast a B in the class... As for me, I earned a C which is what I deserve for not putting enough study time into the class.
The tests are pretty much all youre graded on other than your lab book and a few worksheets so you fail or miss one test youre pretty much at a low C. The tests are not all multiple choice, some are written responses. She likes to put trick questions on the test so if you dont know all the info like the back of your hand you wont get it right.
Mrs Black was a good teacher, your only grade is test and lab book. her test are hard its multiple choice, short answer, fill in the blank and diagrams. anatomy was hard because of the material I wouldn't say because of the teacher. she is retiring now so she will not be teaching anymore but She test to make sure you know the material I liked that.
