very structured good clas
the group stuff sucks
Class is very hard. She goes over a lot of material per chapter. Some questions on the test are tricky. Team points help oot your grade alot though.
Covers too much material too quickly. her weekly quizes are extemely tough too.
This class is pretty tough. The test covers a lot of material that you basically have to learn on your own. She goes over just a small portion of what will be tested over. You have to work in teams for a percentage of your grade. Hopefully your team is smart...
She does not go over enough examples of problems. You have to learn the material on your own. You work in groups--if your group is struggling with the material, your grade reflects it. When you have questions she wants you to ask your group. Ineffective way to learn.
Dr Frech is a pretty good teacher. The group thing is pretty weird, but it probably helps some people. She was clear about what she taught, and the quiz situation helped me learn the material.
we do a lot of group work. I dont like that at all cause you can get stuck with a bad group and that's who you are with the rest of the semester. she teaches pretty well. Reading quizzes are very annoying
She is a very good professor, but she is hard as well. The class has good structure, however you must do a sizable amount of homework and/or be able to manipulate equations well. The biggest issue is timing. You must be able to work through problems quickly, she will tell you that as well.
yes chemistry is tough but buck up and study, this is college and thats what you do, not drink yourself stupid and expect to get into med school. good teacher, not a big fan of groupwork but reasonable. quizes weren't too bad, not fun but not bad. tests were fair.tching style was good, i'd recommen
class was hard, but not if you study enough. she gives tests over each chapter individually, which makes it easier to study for. no problem with group work, it really helps your grade a lot!
Dr. Frech is very good at teaching and actually makes Chemisty an interesting, but the questions she puts on the reading quizzes are random and hard to study for. She puts the hardest questions on the tests so make sure you know the material perfectly. The group work helped my grade.
Her teaching styles are the epidimy <sp? of hardness! I was looking forward to taking this class, but i got a horrible grade due to my no-good teammates! I had a decent grade, but then my team slacked off and I missed 1 activity and got 35% of my grade as a 0! bringing the final to a D!!!
The only reason I passed the class was because of our team work.
She has a different grading system. She has teams which helps, but her tests (and quizes which there are a lot of) don't come from her notes. Be prepared to do a lot of homework. Final is standard test. If you are a Chem major, you'll know your stuff after this class.
Dr Frech expected nothing short of absolute excellence and a consice comprehension of the "theory of material covered". Memorization is futile. For those who felt/feel that she is a bad teacher then perhaps the problem lies with the "learner and not the teacher" WELCOME TO COLLEGE Ladies & Gents.
I am appalled at some of these comments! Dr. Frech is by far the best Chem prof. at the school. Yes, she expects you to come to class, but is that such a bad thing? I aced her chem I & II class with minimal studying, not because the class is easy, but she does such a good job of teaching it!
yeah, well I had a crappy team last semester and I had a B before the team points went in...and I left with a D! If you have a bad team then drop the class...or take a different prof. she is a nice lady, but I learned the most part of chem I in lab w/dana rundle - great teacher too
She is nice and very helpful. Sometimes she is not easy to understand, but feel free to ask her for help. If you don't like chemistry this probably would not be the professor to take. She makes the class challenging and a lot of work is awaiting you, if you enroll for this class. GOOD LUCK!
Very hard, not a good lecturer. Take someone else.
I took this class Fall 2005, and I didn't care for it. My career path is straight chemistry, and she didn't promote it very well. She talks to everyone very condesendingly. She comes across rude, and doesn't bend very easily. If you take her, you might as well already have a Master's degree to know what she is talking about. I would avoid her!!
This class is almost like a survey class. The format is: Day one-Chapter Overview (ppt presentation) Day two-Reading Quiz Day Three-Notes Day Four-Ultimate Quiz (chapter comprehensive)Pace is quick, you never have time to ask questions. That is for the SI I suppose. If you have a job(or a life) avoid this class. It is extremely time consuming.
Prepare for an overview of CHEM II. Lectures are not supplementing the text. Don't ask questions, or question her at all; she gets rather irritated by that. I tried to get help after class or during office hours, I received more help from the chemistry tutors, and my lab instructor. Too bad Dr. Clark does not teach lecture.
Her class is okay. You do have to put a lot of time into this class, but what do you expect, it's chemisty. Advice-Go to SI!! It will help a lot!!
This has got to be the worst Cehmistry teacher I have ever had. In fact she was so bad I had to drop out before the midterm killed me. She explains nothing and no one understands anything b/c half the people are taking the class for the second time and are mostly juniors and seniors. Not for anyone who isn't an EXPERT in Chemistry already.

CHEM II,, SHE IS HORRIBLE! SHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH WITH CLARITY..SHE DOESNT TEACH WHAT SHE ASKS IN HER TESTS..50% OF THE TESTS ARE INFO SHE DOESNT EXPLAIN IN CLASS.. I DISLIKED THE WAY SHE TEACHES..:(
this class is hard. material is tough and it is VERY fast paced. dr. frech incorpartes alot of diffrent things into the class like team work, extra credit, homework and quizzes. this class kicked my ass but i acually learned the material. go too class everday and GO TO SI!! SI is the reason i passed the class. its hard but not impossible! good luck
One of the worst teachers I have ever had. Cannot teach Chemistry to save her life, or your grade... lots of group work and group quizes that are a pain in the butt!! I made a C in the class and an A+ in the lab... there is something wrong there!!
I really enjoyed her Chem 1 class (I got a B), but her Chem 2 class the next semester killed me! I ended up dropping it half way thru the course with a 50. You do have to work in teams, which is a nuisance b/c it will affect your grade if your team is slacking. Overall, she wasn't as bad as everyone rated her. You just need to study.
This class isn't really that difficult. Be prepared to be busy all the time as there is something always due or a quiz or test to take. I would recommend doing well on the reading quizes (which are fairly easy) and if you do not do all that well on the mastery quiz you will still be well off. It is a fast pace class and she isn't the nicest person.

One of the best teachers at UCO I mean she like totally made things clear to me, and if you go to class and take the notes, its like seriously easy to get A.
Good prof, not really the best, but i would definately take her again. The test is easy, quizes easy, dont even need the book.
passed with a breeze, this one of the classes that i thought was hard but i think she made it easier. If you study i am pretty sure you could get an A, i didn't and I got a B-, lucky!
I love her, she is so nice and helpful, REALLY, and the class is so entertaining, I loved every second, I hope i can take her again.
lovely teacher, could be kinda rude, but once you get to know her she is okay, important thing is notes, notes, notes, everything is from notes. not that hard at all.
guaranteed fun class, if you could get her you will be lucky.
awesome, easy tech.
Very fast paced, very structured. Group work was nice. Online homework was a joke. She wasted a lot of class time for each chapter. No test, but 2 quizes for each section. She may be easier if you have had any previous chemistry classes. If you haven't DO NOT take her. Her class will kill you. I definately will not take her again.
Easy professor if you're diligent with your work, hard if you're not. She has lots of assignments but this can stabilize your grade if you stay on the ball. Pretty good lectures but study the homework for quizzes. Does a good job making the material somewhat interesting.
She is a great teacher really knows what she is doing. Puts stuff in ways that you can understand it. Have to study for all tests and needs to read the chapters.
Harder than Chem I, if you study and get tutoring, you can get at least a C. She gives extra credit for attendance and doing all your online homework. Great teacher, pay attention and double check your calculations!!
I did not really learn much in class besides when the SI instructor filled in for her. I taught myself. I am not taking her for Chem 2. The team work was nice.
She really is a great teacher, although difficult. If you have questions she will always take time to answer them. I could have had an A if I would have applied myself in the beginning. Do the optional homework in the back of the chapter and you will sail through. Taking again for chem 2 and can't wait!
This class wasn't easy, but an A is attainable as long as you study your notes and do the suggested problems in the textbook. Overall, Dr. Frech was a good professor. However, I disliked the reading quizzes and team format. I made a B because I didn't apply myself at times. The ACS final seemed to cover a lot of material we didn't cover in class.
Is very helpful and nice. easy to listen to and uses analogies to help understand. power points and guided notes available online to print out. easy extra credit on tests. make sure you're there for every team exercise and quiz or you'll miss out on 200 points of your grade. drops one reading quiz. replacement test available for the chapter tests.
She gives a lot of opportunities for the students to do well, and you get points for participation and coming to class. The work was stressful though. DO THE PROBLEMS IN THE BACK OF THE BOOK. She uses similar problems on her quizzes.
She is amazing.
Second time to take Chem I andif I hantavirus had Dr. Frech I surely would not be doing as well as I am. Tests are tough but it's chemistry?! Homework is online and super easy! Notes are very very thorough! She gives lots of opportunity for points!
Yeah she is a pretty good professor. I HATE the reading quizzes, probably would have received an A if we did not have them. If you put in work you will be rewarded. Not an easy class but not really that hard either. Use the power points!!!
She's a pretty good teacher. I really like chemistry. The reading quizzes were stupid. She doesn't have tests. She has mastery quizzes. If you do the homework in the book then you'll do fine on the quizzes. She uses the same problems. Got a 100 on her final.
Good teacher, I had to drop Gen Chem last semester, came here and made an A in her class and I now love Chemistry. Team work can hurt you if you and your group don't do well tho. Has a 25 point quiz over each chapter every week, so no long tests to worry about. Willing to help you understand the material. Overall good teacher.
She grades tough, but an A or B is doable if you READ the chapters and study for the quizzes. There is a lot of team work so that helps the grade. I spent about 4-5 hours a week studying and got a B. It is very easy to understand concepts from her teaching.
I loved Dr. Frech. I had her for lab and thought she taught the material well and was helpful in lab. She does do weekly quizzes, that you HAVE to study for they will save your grade. I wish I would have taken her for lecture!
I would recommend her to anyone who's tired of mumbled lectures and the standard 4 exams a year. She's a wonderful lecturer, you have 2 "quizzes" per unit (about once a week), and lots of team work and projects. You MUST read the textbook for her reading quizzes and you MUST show up for group work, or forget about passing. She's a fair grader, too.
I never took chem in HS so this was my first chem class. I'm an A student but this was difficult for me. when I went to her for help she referred me to the SI or a tutor. She was not helpful, does not explain the formulas well enough, and expects you to teach yourself or find someone else who will.
Mrs. Frech is tough. There are reading quizzes for every chapter and mastering quizzes for every chapter as well. There is a lot of work for this class but if you are self-motivated you should be fine. She doesn't like to be corrected and can make you feel very stupid when asking questions. Don't take her if you've never had chemistry before.
She's a really good professor but you have to be willing to put in the work in order to get the grade you want. If you come to class and do the homework you should pass. I took her for both Chem 1 and Chem 2 and would take her again.
I took Frech for lab only this semester and she is a great lab professor! I had her for lecture last semester and it was too much work so I took a different lab professor this time and took Frech for lab. She explains everything thoroughly and is willing to help during the lab. There is a quiz every class period.
Literally the worst teacher I have ever had, do not take her.
Professor Frech is a very tough grader. If you are late or try to leave early she demands to know your reasons (in front of the entire class). She does cover a lot of the material and is quite helpful, but she had us do group work (blue team, purple team, pink team, etc) and group participation really mattered.
Tests on every chapter, very heavy grade on team work, & grades hard. No extra credit, you better show up to class, & WORK HARD IN THE BEGINNING SO YOU HAVE WIGGLE ROOM WHEN IT GETS TOUGH. You MUST take her for lab AND lecture or don't take her at all. She's always behind other profs & I suffered in my lab because of it. I liked her but shes tough
Never administers tests until the final. She was gone for two weeks for different conferences, but your attendance is graded. She's very credentialed (published, etc) but isn't able to teach the basics because she's unable to understand why you don't. Dont ask questions during lecture she'll tell you to see her after class. Hope your group is good.
Nice lady but her class is hard as hell. She grades very tough and nit picks your answers until she finds something something so she can take off points. Slightly salty and very condescending. Makes the class very harder than it should be. Don't expect to pass any of the quizzes. But then again, she's a nice lady.
Extremely nice woman, but not a good teacher at all. Never in her office, no chance for extra credit, I would not recommend her to anyone. If you are with the disability office, SERIOUSLY DON'T TAKE HER. The way her quizzes are set up makes it impossible to use your accommodations.
I had Dr. Frech 3 years ago, and as my college career is winding down, I have to say she was my favorite teacher. Chem 2 is a hard class by its nature, but her lectures are fantastic and she's an absolute gem of a resource. One of those rare teachers that you go to long after you've had their class just to ask questions. Also, her style is on fleek
I actually really enjoyed Frech. She teaches a tough subject but she does examples in class and if you pay attention and take notes you'll do great. Read for the reading quizzes and it'll help you a lot for the quizzes and the final. Also do the book work that is optional. The quizzes are just like the examples in class in the book work.
I had her for Chem I and II, I absolutely love her. She is very straight forward. If you want an A will have to work and study a lot. Tests are easy if you actually stayed focus during lecture and do some practice work outside of class. The class is fun, if you have lab with someone else, be prepared because she is behind most of them.
The thing I hated most about her class is that she had you read the chapter ahead of time and would give you a quiz on it before lecturing about it, which obviously caused me and a lot of other people to do bad. If I took the quiz grades out of my grade, I probably would have gotten an A. Overall I liked her and would take her again.
Hardest A I've ever earned. You have to have the textbook read before every single class, have to do every bit of online homework AND bookwork or you don't stand a chance on the seven quizzes (no exams). If you want to REALLY learn the material, take her, but don't expect an A unless you study several hours a week, sometimes up to 10-15
Mrs. Frech is really nice but her class is really hard. She gives a lot of homework & its just a pain in the butt to do. There are extra credit opportunities & she lets you retake two quizzes. I wouldn't take her unless you're majoring in Chemistry. It is really tough to get an A in her class. She also makes you work in teams :/
You're going to have to study and do extra work if you want to do well in Chemistry. It's a difficult class. But Frech has been a great teacher and gives you tons of opportunities to learn the material. She goes over problems in class and explains things well and is very encouraging. She also gave chances for extra credit and to retake 2 quizzes.
Dr. Frech is an amazing professor. Always willing to help when you go to her with issues regarding the material. My advice to you would be to do the problems in the back of the book - they are exactly like the mastery quizzes you will receive - and to read each chapter assigned as thoroughly as you can.
Dr. Frech is a great professor. She is very passionate about her class. I would recommend taking her if you get the choice. I haven't took Chemistry since 2013, but I learned so much in her class. She is a tough grader(DO NOT FORGET SIG FIGS!!!!), but she gives plenty of opportunity to pass her class. Go to class! Take notes! Do the book work!
Dr. Frech makes you work for it but it's worth it. You will know the material and be ready for the next step. Do not jump into her class if you're going to try and skate. It won't work and she will treat you like someone who is wasting her time.
Great teacher who does a good job making sure you understand the material. That being said, she has very high standards and grades tests and quizzes harshly.
I had her for lab and then professionalism in chemistry. She is really helpful and considerate. Consulting and asking questions in her office is always very welcomed. She is also quite efficient in correcting lab reports and replying emails.
Took her for Chem 1&2 because she was so amazing. Really wants you to learn and understand. Is an amazing woman all together. She really made me push myself, but I'm a better student because of her. She also helped me find my own study method in order to be more successful. She's my favorite professor and I'd take her again in a heartbeat!!
Frech is one of my favorite professors at UCO. She does give extra credit that will definately help you towards the end. Keep up with the bookwork and the eHW and you will do great! The team points fall into a large category whenever it comes to your final grade so be a inspirational leader. Chemistry is hard but she makes it interesting and doable
THE best chem prof at UCO! she is extremely organized and extremely helpful. Tons of bonus and opportunities for extra help. She makes her class so that you study/read a lot outside of class, but you do examples in class, and it's so worth it. Take her for chem 1 and 2!!
Lots of homework and assignments to do outside of class. A quiz or two about every week. Quizzes are not that hard if you understand material and show up to class.
Very nice professor but very hard class. You never get a break and be prepared to spend a lot of time studying. Quizzes are at least once a week and exams are every other. She does offer extra credit. Only good thing about this class.
Her class is fast-paced and hard to keep up with. If you want help you need to go to SI. Aleks in her class is nearly impossible to keep up with if you work and also have other classes and want to sleep. It's possible to pass but a ton of people fail. Her grading is harsh if she doesn't like you and Aleks doesn't go with the class so it's confusing
Amazing professor especially for chem majors, helpful caring and she wants everyone to succeed and for chem majors to understand what the need for later classes. This class is fine as I said but it might be time consuming and needs a lot of attention, if your are taking lots of credits, maybe working and school; this is not the ride for you!
She gives about 2 quizzes every week, one of which is a group quiz. The quizzes are to replace tests, but I'd much rather have a test once every four weeks like normal! Not to mention she gives hours worth of homework and when you ask questions in class like she tells you to, she is very condescending with her answers.
Gen. chem 2 is not an easy subject, she really tries to break down the material as much as she can for you. Definitely go to SI whenever you can, itll help solidify some of the concepts. Youll have a quiz every week/every other week over a single chapter, reading quizzes, and group quizzes, which is nice because it gives your grade some cushion.
Dr. Frech is an amazing professor. You can really tell how dedicated she is to her students. She is always willing to help. It's possible to finish her class with more than a 100% if you actively participate in group work.
She gives reading quizzes at the BEGINNING of the unit, and spends all her lecture time on working problems instead of making sure we understand the principles. So I always end up having to teach myself how to work problems, because I don't understand enough when she's teaching.
She is definitely passionate for teaching but when it comes down to work, its pretty ridiculous. I understand Chem 2 is a load of work, but her lectures are very much focused on unnecessary topics and she doesn't cover everything. If you want to pass the course, get ready to watch some youtube videos. Try someone else if you want some mental health
I took Dr. Frech for General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II, and Professionalism in Chemistry I! She is really caring and you can tell she is passionate about what she does! Her class is somewhat fast paced though, and be prepared to read for the reading quiz at the beginning of each unit. Get to know her- she's actually super chill!
I had her for chem II. If there is any other option, I would highly recommend anyone else. She goes through her lectures very quickly and constantly stumbles through example problems. YOU WILL have to teach yourself 100%. To do well, treat the class like it is a game and you are in middIe school. I fully regret taking this class with her.
This review probably won't matter since she is retiring this year but I must say, Dr. Frech was an extremely inadequate professor. I literally had to teach myself all the material because she moved through the lectures so fast and when I asked questions she had a condescending undertone with her obscure explanations.
