This professor is the most incompetent professor I have ever had. If you ask a question, she will not be able to answer because she lacks the knowledge. On the first test 9258 students received A's and 165258 received lower than a C. She is consistently wrong in lecture and her questions are consistently vague.

I'm not sure why all of the previous reviews are so negative, Dr. Moy is a great professor, organic chem is just a dense class, you're going to have to put in the legwork to do well, that burden is not on her. As long as you take the time to practice with book problems and memorize your mechanisms, this class is more than doable.

Dr. Moy gets more hate than she deserves. If you take her class and choose to apply yourself by reaching out to the extra resources she offers to you, it's not terrible. To have around 600 students, about 2 show up to her office hours and her 1 on 1 help is what helped me pass the tests. She brings her dog to class sometimes too which is cool

Professor Moy is by far the worst professor I've had at Carolina. I don't think it's fair for Carolina to have her as the Chem 101 Professor or actually a professor at all. If you have her, I send my condolences in advance. This course is absolutely ridiculous and she is as bad as they say. You're only hope of passing is attending Chem Possible.

This is my unpopular opinion but Moy actually is not that bad. She cares about her students and is a very sweet lady. If you come to class prepared her lectures are very helpful. If you do the readings and pay attention in lecture, you will do fine. However I had a very strong chem background so my experience may be different from those that don't

For the love of God, do not take any of her classes. The classroom is flipped, which in my opinion is a horrible idea for something like chemistry which is pretty hard to learn from reading a textbook. The only hope you have is the peer mentors.

She acts condescending to students and her lecture can be really unorganized. Chem101 is not a really difficult class especially when you have taken chem classes before, but she can make chemistry boring and confusing. On top of everything, I DO NOT like her attitude towards students.

Moy is the WORST professor. Its a flipped classroom, which is dumb for a foundational chem class, & nothing prepares you for tests, not even chem possible or Q&A's can save you. She assumes everyone in the class has chem backgrounds, which isn't true. She contradicts herself, & I have yet to see her answer any question with an answer. DON'T TAKE!!

Moy gets a bad reputation because the course material that the UNC Chemistry department decides to teach is hard. She is enthusiastic about the topic, and tries to give practice problems that are applicable to exams. If you read the text book and review practice materials, it is not that bad.

One of the worst professors I've had at UNC. She does not know what she is doing, students were correcting her in class. She does not know how to explain.

Chem 101 was a very difficult course, definitely the most stressful class I have taken so far. Moy is very smart but because of this she struggled explaining things in a way people could understand. Sweet person, teaching not her thing. An A is possible you just have to spend INSANE amounts of time on the class and be prepared to teach yourself.

The best word to describe her would be unreasonable. She threatens to take time off of future quizzes when students pack up after class has already ended (if she's still speaking), and does not grant regrade requests for final exams. She also will not meet with students for more than 5 minutes at a time, and clearly doesn't want to be a professor.

You have to go to class to do the iClicker questions, tests are 16% each and there's 3 of them so they make up almost half of your grade, the test study guides are easy and then the tests are incredibly difficult and you'll lose many points on the multiple choice. Dr. Moy LOVES to combine all three unit's topics into one question.

Okay, if you have a huge amount of chemistry understanding BEFORE you enter this class you MIGHT be okay. Other than that, prepare to be confused. Moy messes up multiple times during class. You cannot drop a test or quiz and there is NO curve. Kiss your GPA goodbye.

While she is fair, she is a bit harsh. There were no dropped tests or curves & our averages all hovered around 73% on tests. While there was never anything unreasonable on the tests, they were incredibly challenging and that was not taken into consideration. Expect to put in a lot of work and not necessarily see the results- she isn't awful though.

She is precious. She cares so much about her students and wants nothing but your success. The class is painfully diffucult, and she sometimes stumbles when explaining concepts in lecture, but it's clear she knows her stuff. While I hated the class, I have nothing but respect for her. Keep up on your readings, and go to supplemental instruction!
