This professor is the most incompetent professor I have ever had. If you ask a question, she will not be able to answer because she lacks the knowledge. On the first test 9258 students received A's and 165258 received lower than a C. She is consistently wrong in lecture and her questions are consistently vague.

Moy is the most unclear professor I've had at UNC. She does not know how to handle questions and takes absolutely no blame when half of the class fails, going to great extents to keep the class completely uncurved. Her office "half-hours" are allegedly not for chemistry-related questions. Avoid if at all possible.

Arguably the worst professor I have encountered in my life. I got an A- in the class but only because I taught the material to myself. Students would often have to correct her on practice problems and concepts because she was not able to properly explain it. Moy is condescending and incompetent.

She tries to be accessible but is very confusing in lecture. Oftentimes her solutions to example problems are incorrect and students have to correct her thinking behind a problem. Very test heavy and doesn't allow you to keep tests to study. She is condescending and gets very defensive when you question her methods, and her grading is unfair.

Does not teach you. Gives easy problems during class and homework; however, on tests she gives you problems you've never seen or worked out.

When the class did horrifically on the exam as a whole, she was nice enough to give us the option to make up some of these points outside of class through an online medium. The online quiz consisted of all the material on the test nobody knew. She didn't teach it. She didn't give us our exams back for reference. This summarizes the class.

The class is doable if you can teach yourself. She tries, but truly fails to be a decent teacher. You have to put a lot of effort into deciphering her lectures to do well. She is oversensitive to criticism. Approachable person, but doesn't bring much else to the table. Tests are tough but fair since we went over basic examples. Avoid if you can.

It almost hurts me to write this review. Moy's a great person but such a horrendous lecturer. She cares about her students but has a terribly misguided way of going about showing it. If you elect to take this class, it may be the worst academic experience you ever have. Difficult tests, poor teaching methods, and general absence of class structure.

She is still very disorganized, although this is not her first semester. There are almost 150 students in class, and she scanned and uploaded all students' exams instead gave back the original copies. However, she did not give exam keys. The final consists of multiple choices only, but she doesn't post the exam score after 5 days.

Please listen what other students said and avoid. There must be the reasons why many students give low scores. I took Dr. Moy's class because Dr. Crimmins' class was at 8 am, but I regret this. I took four 200-level science courses in this semester, I got A in all classes except this CHEM 261.

If this says anything, some people applauded once when we had a guest lecturer. If there is any other prof available, I'd aim for them (especially Crimmins). One Crimmins review session was more enlightening than a month of Moy lectures. I'm a bit scared going into Crimmins 262 because I feel like my 261 knowledge is so shaky. Thanks, Moy.

She is absolutely the worst professor I have had at UNC. Completely unwilling to meet with you outside of class if you have class during her office hours (which you are only able to schedule 10 min slots) Every time I have spoken to her after class she acts rushed as if she cannot spend 15 seconds with a student. Also extremely disorganized.

Very disorganized lecturer. Often times asking her questions to clear up things only leads to more confusion. Take as many notes as you can because she only posts the template power points online. Textbook becomes semi-useless because she disagrees with it a lot. Take someone else, or else there will be a lot of self learning and suffering ahead

Her tests are of average difficulty, but her final exam was EXTREMELY HARD AND CHALLENGING and unlike the midterms and covered things that were not even covered in Organic 2. I think that Moy is disorganized, antagonistic, and frequently disagrees with the textbook. She jumps around her powerpoints constantly which is impossible to follow. She doesn't return your exams to you and you have TEN minutes to look at them if you make an appointment, so you can't see if there is a grading mistake. WORST PROFESSOR AT UNC!

Harsh grader and condescending teacher. Cares more about grade distribution than students learning. Pretty upsetting considering the prestige of this school's chemistry department

I found Dr. Moy to be incredibly condescending, unlike most professors at UNC. She made the material very inaccessible outside of class (e.g. not posting completed lecture powerpoints online... fairly unacceptable for this class in my opinion, especially with how fast-paced things move). I would highly recommend trying another professor.

This is easily the worst professor I've ever had in my 4 years of being at UNC. I did fine in the class simply because I had an amazing tutor. You never know what to expect on the exam and she poorly prepares you. My biggest concern was the fact that she makes every student feel like the biggest idiot, not only during office hours but in class too.

She does not give a lot of resources either. If you just took orgo 1 and get moy, I would wait one semester to get someone better. I wish I did that.

Got a B+ in orgo 1 with a different professor but a C+ in orgo 2 with her. Exams were difficult. I learned more from the textbook than her.

Flipped classroom was not helpful in teaching material. Like has been said before, you're expected to learn everything outside of class. I did all of the weekly worksheets and practice exams and studied my mistakes, but, especially for the final exam, I could have done a lot less and felt equally as not prepared.

Better pay attention to your section, any other sections she's teaching, her office hours, and her Q&As, cus she taught something wrong in class that she'll only properly explain outside of class. Truly, one of those professors that makes you wonder if UNC Chapel Hill's actually a good school or a subpar one filled by great students.

Dr. Moy is one of the worst teachers I've ever had. Grade is based almost exclusively on exams and exam scores are not indicative of concept mastery. Practice exams are useless (much easier than exams) and Moy is very condescending in class. Really wish I'd waited for a different professor.

She's not a bad person, but a horrible professor. She literally gave us an exam and then the next class period taught us how to do one of the reactions on the exam. She gave us a synthesis worksheet to prep for the exam, posted answers that were WRONG, and then was frustrated we did not get the right answers on the exam.

One of the worst teachers Ive ever had. Condescending, contradicts herself/textbook, unclear when teaching and tests don't parallel what is done in class at all. Frankly just don't take her unless there is no other choice. As a chem major, she has made me rethink it. It's not the material it is her way/lack of teaching it bc she is too busy yelling

Okay so I really enjoyed Orgo 1 & was very scared to take Moy after reading her reviews. I thought people were maybe overexaggerating how bad of a professor she is or didn't put the work into the class, but they were not wrong. She is disorganized, unclear, moves too fast, & had a bad temper. Even with hard work, it's hard to do well. Avoid her!!

I've never written a review before, but I felt that I needed to warn other students- DO NOT TAKE 262 WITH MOY! It's not that the material itself is particularly difficult, it's that her condescending attitude makes her an ineffective teacher. I went to a tutor 3 times and he taught me more in 3 hours than she did the whole semester.

Moy knows a lot and is aware that it's a difficult subject, but her virtues end there. Orgo is bad, but Moy makes it WAY WORSE THAN IT HAS TO BE. Dr. Moy gives you very few resources to learn from in a course that seriously requires tons of practice. This class is the rare case in which you wish there was MORE homework, so you can practice your understanding of the material, but mastering was usually only 3-4 easy ass questions. Dr. Moy often made mistakes in lecture and didn't correct them.

Moy is bad. Bad bad. She is smart and she does care about her students, but she is not meant to be a lecturer. Bad at explaining, disorganized, doesn't give out enough homework/resources to be successful, exams are too difficult, the list could go on. If you have to wait a semester between 261 and 262 to avoid her, do it. Save yourself.

DON'T TAKE MOY, unless you have a strong grasp of chemistry and all math that goes with it. Her lectures are extremely confusing, easily the worst lecturer I've ever had. The only learning I've done in this class is through the book, which isn't extremely helpful. The practice tests are not similar to the difficult exams and no curve at all.

I basically only learned through the textbook, which doesn't help much unless it's explained well. She can be pretty condescending and doesn't really tailor her teaching styles to other students' need. Also, the quizzes and tests do not really match what she goes over in lecture. Avoid at all costs, she is a great person but not meant to teach. You are only given a few minutes to work on problem before having to submit and there is always something due for class. She gets confused in class and often gives inadequate answers to questions. Would never take on of her classes again.

Moy is extremely lecture heavy. She skims through the slide shows incredibly quickly and does not explain thoroughly. When she does decide to explain, her explanations can often be cryptic. Was told she got fired from Orgo and is on probation. I've never gotten a lower than an 85 in any class and now I will be content with a C. Take Freeman!

Long, confusing lectures. Answers questions with a completely unrelated subject. Works through example problems too fast while teaching, and will not go over her steps when students do not understand. Tells us not to use calculators while doing complicated math, but does not tell us how to solve these problems without a calculator. Overall bad...

Would definitely not recommend for any first-year without AP Chem background. The lectures were decent but Dr. Moy contradicts herself quite often. Exams oftentimes contain information that was barely discussed in class. The answers for the practice exams have been wrong on multiple occasions. Avoid her if you wish to pass chemistry.

I am going to be straight with y'all. Worst class I've ever taken at UNC because I didn't learn a single thing in lectures. Worst professor I've had ever. Do anything you can to avoid Chem101 with her!!! Take my advice and don't make the same mistake I did.

Lectures don't help whats so ever, but you have to go because of quizzes and mandatory i-clicker participation. She is very bad at explaining concepts and explanations are hard to follow. Be prepared to teach yourself all the material. The textbook will become your best friend! Take Chem 101 with another professor if you can!!

Moy is respectable & seems like a wonderful person outside of class. But, she rushes through poor explanations of the material that are often wrong. At one point, she was attending another professor's lectures to get guidance and her class average is far below other chem 101 sections. Exams are difficult and confusing. Made me drop my chem minor.

Without AP Chem background in high school, I probably would have failed the class. During lectures she always contradicts the textbook and claims she is right, but later corrects herself. This caused lots of confusion. Basically taught the whole course to myself. I do not recommend taking this course with Moy.

She was not the best at successfully communicating with a lecture class. She would often confuse the students by reciting incorrect information in class and then sending emails saying she messed up after class. She also focused more on participation of students rather than explaining the material. I don't feel well prepared for my next chem class.

Moy is a smart person and she knows what she is talking about, however, she can not relay information to students during lecture at all. Professor Moy often makes CHEM101 harder than it needs to be. She often contradicts herself in lectures and consistently makes mistakes when trying to solve problems. This course will require you to teach yourself most of the content. Best advice I can give is to do as many practice problems as you can in order to prepare for the exams.

Cheryl Moy is easily the worst professor that I've had at UNC. She continually made assumptions about people's base education for Chem 101. Regularly she would say, "I'm sure you all did this in AP Chem so we won't cover it here". She confuses herself during lecture, the readings don't help, I'm trying to pass using Youtube tutorials. Worst ever.

Cheryl Moy is the worst Professor Ive had at UNC thus far. She gives practice exams with wrong answer keys, which ends up leaving me even more confused. Theres really no wiggle room with her, if you dont do well on the exams, you can kiss goodbye to a good grade.

Professor Moy is by far the worst professor I've had at Carolina. I don't think it's fair for Carolina to have her as the Chem 101 Professor or actually a professor at all. If you have her, I send my condolences in advance. This course is absolutely ridiculous and she is as bad as they say. You're only hope of passing is attending Chem Possible.

For the love of God, do not take any of her classes. The classroom is flipped, which in my opinion is a horrible idea for something like chemistry which is pretty hard to learn from reading a textbook. The only hope you have is the peer mentors.

She acts condescending to students and her lecture can be really unorganized. Chem101 is not a really difficult class especially when you have taken chem classes before, but she can make chemistry boring and confusing. On top of everything, I DO NOT like her attitude towards students.

The best word to describe her would be unreasonable. She threatens to take time off of future quizzes when students pack up after class has already ended (if she's still speaking), and does not grant regrade requests for final exams. She also will not meet with students for more than 5 minutes at a time, and clearly doesn't want to be a professor.

Okay, if you have a huge amount of chemistry understanding BEFORE you enter this class you MIGHT be okay. Other than that, prepare to be confused. Moy messes up multiple times during class. You cannot drop a test or quiz and there is NO curve. Kiss your GPA goodbye.
