AWESOME TEACHER! Very interesting, fun, kind and funny person...her lectures keep you wanting to hear more (Unfortunatly she'd let us out early.) She is VERY smart and knows what shes talking about. Tests are a challenge but you can pass if you do the reading. She gives review sheets before the test. I recommend her class to everyone!

I absolutely enjoyed this class. It went by so fast, I wish it could of been longer. The only class I actually looked forward to attending. The presentation and delivery of lecture is flawless, mainly because you can tell she really enjoys what she's doing. I would recommend reading the textbook studying and attend class. I took the notes on every lecture, read every chapter, and took advantage of using the study guide for every test, got good grades on the in class assignments. Wanna know what grade I got? I got a D!!!! I guess she just didn't like me.

Dr. Neely is one of the best professors I've ever had...period. She has her share of haters - usually slackers or Republicans (can you believe someone goes to a CC and calls themselves Repubicans?) Prof. Neely is one of the best teachers at OCC. Her exams are multiple choice and there are some writing assignments based on twilight zone episodes. She gives reviews before exams (not study guides - SO STUDY) and she puts grades online. That way you know if you are failing. Very fair in grading - you get the grade you earn. I earned an A!

She was an awesome teacher, all u have to do is attend class,upload ur notes from blackboard, take notes in class study and you'll pass the class with no problem.... She even passes out out study guides before each exam so you'll know whats on the test, and their multiple choic.......I ABSOLUTELY LOVED HER...

Ms. Neely is a good professor. She makes sure everyone in class understands the material. This class is an easy A. All you have to do is come to class on time, pay attention, do the study guides, study, and take all 4 exams. Book is not necessary since the tests are based on study guides and they are basically all from the notes/power points.

I have so much respect for this professor. I'm currently in her Thursday SOC class and i'm loving it. Study and show up to class and you will pass. Her lectures really get you to thinking and are very on topic. Gives soooooo much extra credit! She was also very understanding when i could not show up to class, take her you wont regret it.

Not only does Professor Neely do a good at teaching us Sociology, she gives us real life examples that are current and relevant to what she's teaching that day. She gives straight up facts instead of a biased opinion like most professors would. Fair grader, very clear with her instructions, as well as has a good sense of humor.

She's a very interesting professor. I love her. Make sure you attend class, there's a quiz after each lecture (Pass or fail you still get points). Group work is fun and easy. Her TEST are very easy if you read and study. EVERYTHING she has on the study guide is on the test.

I would definitely recommend taking courses with Dr. Neely! She is up front about the assignments and what is expected of her students. She gives extra credit and study guides before exams. You have to have good attendance but she makes it easy to go to class because she is interesting, funny, and her lectures are great! You won't regret it!

Dr. Neely is a great professor. Hilarious and fun. Quizzes after each lecture which are super easy. I would definitely suggest going to the review sessions which are held before each exam. She is amazing! She opened my eyes for the sociological perspective. Everything surrounding us has to do with sociology. It was actually very interesting, and I didn't expect that at the beginning. She has a great sense of humor and is more than fair in terms of grading. It seems like the majority of students agrees with this. *HOT*

Prof. Neely is a great teacher with very good lectures. She gives daily quizzes at the end of class which count as attendance, 5 points a day adds up, do not skip! Her tests were easy if you put in time to study & her class notes are better than the book. She teaches a very interesting subject however, she has strong and clear personal opinions.

Awesome and informative lectures. I took her over the summer; we had 4 exams, 2 in-class written assignments, and no homework. The written assignments must be worded properly. I bought the book but never cracked it open. Your tests are based off of the PP notes, so study them well and you will pass the class. (no projects or accumulative final).

I encourage everyone to take at least one sociology class, but I highly encourage taking it with Dr. Neely! She presents her material with a lot of energy and humor. I look forward to my am class with her. If you follow her helpful tips, you can pass her class easily. But above all you will view the world more like sociologist. I love her class!

Really great semester with this class! Gives a clear syllabus, and communicates what will be covered on the exams. D2L is used for some aspects (quizzes for me). It is not the kind of class you can miss often. This professor really shows the relevance and importance of studying this material, and others like it. I recommend this professor highly!

Blow off class but i still learned a lot bc of how interesting and detailed her lectures were. As long as you go to class and pay attention you won't have to do much studying for exams. Maybe just read over the notes as review- thats what I did. She's a little intimidating to talk to but she's actually very sweet and helpful. Lots of e/c. TAKE HER!

I would take Dr. Neely a hundred times over. One of the best professors I'll ever have, hands down. She sounds strict when you receive the syllabus, but she is so down to Earth and her lectures will change you. She is amazing. From day 1 Dr. Neely not only gave interesting lectures, she also created a very fun & enjoyable environment. I had something come up in the middle of an exam that I had to step outside the classroom for. She personally asked me why I forfeited my test & gave me a second chance to take it after class. 110% recommend taking SOC2510 with her!

I really enjoyed taking this class and it was all because of Dr. Neely! Her exams are upfront, no tricky questions. She gives us a study guide for every exam and it really helps, chances for extra credit. The best part of it is that if you have a 184+/200 in that class, you don't have to come back to class or take the final after the 3rd exam!

Professor Neely was a very kind and funny one. She clearly defines what she wants you to complete. She gives study guides, we needed the book but it wasn't necessary if you attended the class and got her power point notes. She makes the class fun and easy, she will help you understand if you speak to her. Definitely a good choice to pick her for.

Dr. Neely is a great teacher. Her lectures are filled with information that helps the student gain his/her own sociological lens to see the world through. Dr. Neely is hilarious! I took her three hour night class and it never dragged on. Shes an animated lecturer and super passionate about her subject. She wont tolerate any sort of disrespect but shes willing to have discussions in class about everything.

Prof Neely is by far the cream of the crop at OCC, her lectures are insightful and interesting. The way she conducts herself and engages her class will have you interested and learning even if you thought you had no interest in Soc. You also have ample opportunity to receive up to 20 extra credit which is the equivalent of a 100% exam in her class.

Dr. Neely is the best sociology teacher you can have! The tests weren't that bad as long you take good notes. The only bad part was the lecture quizzes every class meeting at the end. She only gives you <5 minutes to review 10+pages of notes. Take her in the summer semester since it's online and more time to prepare. Gives up to 30 extra cred. Also

TAKE DR. NEELY'S CLASS! Class was remote but ran like an online course. There is no weekly zoom/lecture so you can do your hw and watch her PowerPoints/videos at your leisure. Quizzes/exams are timed but fairly easy if you took notes. If you have enough points at the end of the semester you WON'T HAVE TO TAKE THE FINAL! She gives extra credit!

Lectures are short and right to the point. As long as you take good notes you will do fine on the tests and the quizzes.

Remote learning has been somewhat difficult for me, being a visual learner. This professor is absolutely the best. Her lectures are mesmerizing with understandable content. She is clear, stern, and smart as a whip. I wish I could take more of her classes. She makes college very interesting.

Professor Neely has amazing pre-recorded lectures and very fun and interesting assignments! Real easy 5 question quizzes every week after doing the lecture. Also only has 4 critical thinking assignments which are also super easy. On test week there are no lessons. Very organized and self-explanatory class. She is a very intelligent professor!

Cheryl Neely is very confident in her political views which can be very left leaning. This can steer some people away but I suggest you stick it out. She is a fantastic story teller which makes it easy to remember definitions and concepts. It's a very fun class but not a class to slack off in. She gives lots of opportunities to earn points as well.

(Fall 2019) She's a very good professor, and very passionate about what she teaches. However, she is extremely political (Democrat). So, if you aren't open to hearing mostly political gibberish the entire time, don't take her class. The times that you aren't hearing political commentary, the information is good as far as a sociology class goes.

She was not a bad teacher however whenever we had quizzes, her time limit was unfair. Otherwise decent teacher, she gave extra credit and if you take your time, its not a hard class

Dr. Neely is the best teacher I have ever had. She is engaging and extremely knowledgeable. She understands if you ask her for help or a necessary test postponement within reason. I loved her lectures. The only reason I haven't taken another one of her classes is because they are online. I wish Dr. Neely could be my teacher for every subject.

My favorite professor I've had! So knowledgeable, bringing up real-world present-day issues with our lectures. She brings an inspiring presence and is really understanding. Her lectures are the BEST lectures I have ever had, I would walk away with new-found knowledge and inspiration every class.

Easily one of my favorite teachers thus far. My only slight critique was how she would occasionally bring up pretty heavy subject matter with no warning, but I suppose that's to be expected for a sociology class. It was always to give real-world examples, so it's not like it was for no reason. It was just a little hard to sit through sometimes.

I took this class as a pre-req and I'm sad I'm not taking another class with her. She's passionate and caring, such a big heart. Her lectures are very engaging, each ending with a 10 point quiz which encourages you to learn from lecture. Hardly any homework besides studying. Her enthusiasm was contagious and made for a great learning environment

Lectures are really easy to listen to. I would recommend taking notes to prep for exams.

Professor Neely is really passionate about what she teaches and it shows. She has strict policies, but they're so reasonable, it suits the class. Her class is pretty lecture heavy, but thankfully she has recorded all of her lectures through sound bites or youtube videos, so you actually get a lecture still. The quizzes are fairly easy. She's great!

Cheryl's lectures are engaging and thought-provoking, if a bit politically charged at times. The course material is interesting, and with regular study and unstuck study AI, you can do well. Definitely take it if you're open-minded.

Overall she was a decent professor. She really knows her stuff when it comes to sociology and she made that easy to understand. I emailed her once with a question and her response was sorta rude and that made me not want to ask her anything else. She was a bit unorganized one of the weeks and I believe that pushed our class behind by a week.

She is intense, but due to the fact that she is very passionate and the subject covers quite a few heavy topics. Visibly lights up when you show interest in her teachings and is very honest about her teaching style. Notes for lectures are pre-written and given to you to study, and lectures are easy to follow. EC is easy to obtain.

Dr. Neely is one of the best professors at Oakland Community College! Throughout my experience with her, I learned that she is a very nice professor who deeply cares about her students. She gives extra credit opportunities, amazing lectures, and can be seen outside of class. Her passion for sociology made the class even better! 10/10 professor!
