Extremely rude, treats you like an idiot if questions asked over his uncomprehending outlines and instructions. Grades papers as if you were in a higher up English class. Very critical to papers. Teaches more classes than he can handle. Ask you to remind him to grade your assignments.
A lot of reading and writing. Not much clarity in the work assigned. Rude when questions are asked. Needs to be reminded to grade papers.
He is impossible to understand. His assignments are many and graded very slowly. Little or no feedback. Not a very good teacher. Fill in the blank questions on test.
essays were extremly hard
I liked this instructor and would recommend him to anyone. Yes, there are lots of essays but anyone who tries and cares can make a good grade in his class. There are no wrong answers during discussions. His devotion to literature and his enthusiasm make the class enjoyable. BTW- I mostly despise lit classes but his was bearable.
I took Mr. Adams my first semester of college and I loved his class. He does as a lot of essays but they are never very long, 2 or 3 pages double spaced. He also lets you pick your topic within some simple guidlines. He can be demanding, but you will come out of his class a beter writer and feeling like you have learned something.
Has a LOT of work. He assigns a lot of papers; some of which overlap eachother as far as due dates are concerned. We were also assigned to do a lot of reading from the textbook. It is not a very fun class due to the extensive amount of work.
Expect a lot of work in this class. Alse, make sure you have record of your grades just in case.
I wouldn't recommend unless you already have decent writing skills. Rude when asked questions, and the feedback is always unclear. You won't know you're grades or where you stand in the class. Assignments aren't very long but ridiculous and useless. Also the reading assignments are useless and never ending.
Lingers too long on some lectures and then the whole class gets behind, and you have to rush to finish work towards the end of the semester. As a person he's a pretty cool guy, but he's not as good at teaching. I did enjoy this class though, you just have to do a lot of writing.
He'll expect a lot, so don't slack off. Reading is a must. If you read, you'll ace his easy multiple choice quizzes/tests. Grading is slow & usually grades will be posted well into the 2nd 1/2 of the semester with valuable critiques. With effort, some of his comments might even be praise. Small leniency on Final Grades. Bottom Line: Hard Work = A
His class was the most useless class i have ever taken. The stuff we go over is pointless to the outside world. He assigns TONS of essays and sometimes would assign 2 major grades at the same time. He is VERY repetative. All test ad quizzes are done online in front of him. Most major grades are essays, which he grades very harshly.
Didn't give out a lot of work, essays were short and easy, and class was more like a debate class than anything; got off topic a lot.
He's very friend and funny teacher. Although he often changes time of asingment, you still have time to finish it. You should check the acess every week. The essay's not difficult, and the final it's not hard.
Mr. Adams is a very nice a friendly person both inside, and outside of the classroom, but there are a lot of cons that follow. For one, he is extremely slow when grading papers. He also changes assignment dates often. Lastly, no exam reviews, and if your wording isn't exactly the way he wants it, its wrong. Be prepared to hear "In this instance"
I couldn't believe I passed this class. One of the most challenging classes I've taken.
Good man, but he takes his time as far as grades go so don't expect to know what you have until late in the semester. You could deal without his lecture as well.
Had him for both ENG 1301/1302. He was an "OK" professor, had great enthusiasm, interest, and gave us a few laughs, but overall, I regret taking him this semester. He's a slow grader, weight of assignments is ridiculous, and most work is tedious. Still a great man, but go for someone else.
Mr. Adams was a very hard teacher,if your not the best at English and writing papers he is probably not the best choice. He takes forever to grade your paper so dont expect to get feedback, and you will write a paper every week. The way he had his assignments was very confusing, i had to use the calendar to insure i was completing everything.
He's not a hard grader, but he does take long to grade and post grades. Tests are incredibly long and hard. Papers are written every week and attendance is mandatory, attendance will affect grade! Wouldn't take this professor again.
Mr. Adams is a great guy very enthusiastic and makes class fun. He is very smart as well however, the way he teaches can be kind of confusing. The only bad things I can think of are that the essay he requires us to write are longer than they should be and u often find Ur self sacrificing quality for quantity & Doesn't give enough time on quizs
A good person....but when it comes to teaching it was terrible. Takes months to grade almost everything that isn't online, is VERY bad at explaining assignments and is not very helpful when trying to get help
As long as you attend class you will be fine plus it helps your grade. He repeats things so pay attention because it will come up again. The essays are reasonable & you don't ever get homework besides doing the essays which you have plenty of time to do. I strongly recommend him because I learned a lot actually when it comes to the subject!
I DO NOT recommend Mr. Adams. You will do LOTS of work with little time. I had to write 3 Literary Analysis, 2 Reflections, A Research Paper, A Group Presentation.Semester is now over and I still have assignments over 2 months old that have not been graded. Oh and god forbid you make a word plural on a quiz - he still won't give it to you.
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GUY. Really didn't learn anything from this class at all. Takes ALL SEMESTER to grade essays which was the only thing he really had to even grade. Tests and quizzes online but are usually nothing like how he taught it. Doesn't warn you to use the book if needed.
He can't explain anything clearly and don't hold your breath if you're expecting quick feedback on any essays because he cannot seem to grade anything within a week after it's due. As for quizzes/tests, there are no reviews and a "15 question" test easily turns into 250 questions since all the questions have 15-20 parts. Just don't take his class.
He's a good teacher, but takes forever to grade work. Also, quizzes and tests are timed 15 min. and can have up to 30 questions. I never got to finish my test. AND you cannot go back since it's all on the computer. This goes for the exam as well. Sucks.
So confusing! he doesn't pay attention to when he assigns things and mixes up assignments. He gave out a worksheet that was all messed up twice.
Do NOT take this class. I have gone to college for four years and have literally gotten more papers in the matter of a few weeks in this class then the entirety of my education. The tests are near impossible to finish let alone pass. He assign things without telling you, the work load is mind boggling and good luck trying to get something graded.
He is BY FAR the hardest professor I have ever had, but that was the best part about having him. He assigned many writing assignments, but it helps expand your literary capability. His lectures are really interesting. It's important you read the stories & quizzestests are detailed. The amount of work is ridiculous but in the end it pays off.
The quizzes and tests are VERY detailed. Be sure to read thoroughly. He take forever to grade your work. Unless you love literature or english I wouldn't recommend him. One of the hardest english professors I've ever had.
Would've have had an A but he assigns you to hand write 200 pages, you are allowed to partner up but only under a strict contract. I decided to partner up but my partner lied to me and Mr. Adams. He claimed to be understanding but said he didn't have time for this and said that if i learned anything it was not to trust people and gave me a B.
This professor isnt very clear at all when it comes to criteria. hes a pretty easy grader overall but everyone in class was a bit confused with what he wanted from us. he didnt really follow a detailed day to day schedule he just did what he felt like. not very prepared. its an easy class to pass but you might be frustrated with his teaching style
Really disliked this professor. He makes you memorize so much information for the quizzes , he's bad at keeping up with grades, and he makes you write 200 pages over random topics and if you don't finish it you fail. i would most defiantly NOT take this class again.
the quizzes are so detailed it is unnecessary. also he assigns so much homework and projects all at once and do not forget to read because then you will not know what is going on during class. and do the kip journals early in the semester because its 200 pages of unnecessary writing :)
All is good, except the many online quizzes taken in class that really can bring your grade down. Expect 3 major essays, and a final assignment essay. What brought my grade from an A to a B was the KIP journal - a journal you must fill with 200 pages and 60 essays (no thanks)
I started off enjoying the class because he's very passionate. Then you really get to know him as the semester goes on. He is the LEAST understanding professor I have ever had. He grades hard, allows for very little corrections with mistakes, and you might as well forget being absent because missing 1 day can drop you a whole letter grade.
Don't skip class, don't even be 5 minutes or less late, he will count you absent. When grading he is very un-clear on what you did wrong/need to improve on. VERY tough grader (unreasonably tough)! Did not accommodate for disabilities. At the begging of the semester there were 25 students and by the end there was only about 10 students left.
BEWARE! If it isn't exactly how he wants it, it's wrong. Slow to grade and gives minimal feedback. Be ready to read and write a lot. Tests/quizzes are ridiculously intensive and are timed. He is very repetitive and wastes a lot of class time talking about unimportant info. Quite a difficult class. Wouldn't recommend if you are a full time student.
Do not take this professor he takes forever to grade things, I swear my grade was non existent for the longest time. Least understanding professor I've had, every time i emailed him a question I had he would respond back very rude and made me feel dumb. Never tells you when things are due its always a surprise. Gave us 2 days to write a 5 pageessay
Adams is an amazing prof! If you're an English major, he is your man. I will say, there's A LOT of work (so those who have a full workload and are going to school full-time should be excellent in time management or you could fail). The work is easy, but the pop quizzes are super tough. He is passionate about literature. I learned so much!
This professor has given assignments the day before they were due, sent as an email to canvas on a day class doesnt occur. He is a harsh grader and will make you do a lot of work, especially before a holiday!
Fun teacher has a lot of enthusiasm but he is definitely a hard grader for sure. I thought I did great when it came to English and my papers got C's. You definitely need the book asap and make sure you actually read the stories he assigns this will be what saves your grade. Also not attending will hurt you. I missed two classes and I got an 80.
This class was all over the place. He was very confusing and not clear on when things were due. His test and quizzes had absolutely nothing to do with what we learned in class. There were not a lot of essays but his grading was very confusing.
At first he seemed like a really great professor. Very nice, funny, and intelligent. Yet, as we got further into the semester, he unloaded three major projects on us in one week, two being presentations. He does not follow the syllabus, so when things should be turned in is very confusing. He is very unclear with what he wants from us.
He says things that you need for an essay, but after you turn it in you get a bad grade because something was missing. He didn't explain in both the lecture or in his modules of what was required. He's an okay teacher, but I honestly would not recommend him, especially your first year.
At the end of the day, this is college, not high school. Mr. Adams is a dedicated and passionate professor. He clearly states when things are do and is open for after class questions and chats. Overall, the course work wasn't that challenging as long as you did the work and turned it in on time. If you give this man a chance, you'll learn and grow.
A very by the book professor. The class was interesting, but he was quite unclear on assignments and their due dates. Get ready to read and do group work. Very few times was there work by yourself. Prepare to read and follow the syllabus (Though we deviated from it frequently). His structure for class and assignments was brand new for me.
Professor Adams is a good professor. He keeps his class engaged and provides student and teacher examples for most assignments. However, he grades hard so be ready to proofread. He is always availible during his office hours and is willing to help. His quizzes are on the more difficult side but if you show up to class and study you will pass easy.
Imagine a teacher that hasnt graded any assignments thats been turned in for 2 months, yet he talks about making more quizzes and assignments. He needs to become more organized and actually give a proper feedback before giving more assignments.
Worst teacher ever. He'll talk about something for five minutes and then puts it on the exams. Hes the really nit picky about essays , and hes not very understanding at all. Would not recommend, i didn't learn anything. He also waits till the last minute to turn in grades even assignments that we turned in in the beginning of the semester.
Simply put before I rant, save yourself the trouble and avoid this professor as best as you possibly count. His communication to the students is terrible, he gives out work though he refuses to grade your assignments (so good luck figuring out your grade) and way more issues than I can count. His style proves he doesnt care about his students
Worst prof I've ever had. Not straightforward, buries assignments/due dates under modules in Canvas, rambles, wastes time teaching things that should have been taught in 1301, useless groups/group work. Everything he does is overcomplicated. Lectures are worthless. Unfairly grades. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
I know most people would think "oh it's college he can't be as awful as they say". WRONG! He is a super tough grader and don't expect to receive any grades on time. A student could think they have an A, but really have a D. The pop quizzes are so knit picky and given only 15 minutes to take. Worst teacher i have ever had. DON'T TAKE HIM!!
This teacher was cool at first in the beginning, after the first week it went downhill, hes horrible at putting in grades, dont even expect those on time he doesnt grade fairly he barely gives any feedback to you so good luck on that. His pop quizzes are timed 15 min when theres at least 30-40 questions u have to complete. Hes inaccurate.
Avoid This Professor
This man is unreachable. Almost all the projects are group based & while it may make it easier, your might get a bad group & they dont change though out the semester. Pop quizzes are unreasonable. 15 minutes for 30+ questions, ive never had enough time to finish. He is not understanding by any means & doesnt really help you.
He does not post homework clearly. His expectations are ridiculous. He has been testing us on things we have never gone over in this class, and after speaking to students who had him last semester, he is using tests from an entirely separate class. He has taken over 2 months to grade our first assignment, and we have no helpful feedback.
If you want to take a class that assigns essays between essays this is for you. This Professor will assign something and then assign something to be due in between the first assignment as this goes for multiple assignments. He expects way too much and will assign more homework than all of your other classes combined.
His class is very unorganized. Buries all the important assignments under modules. Rambles alot. Very hard to work with. Grades assignments two months after it was due. Gives only 15 mins for 30-40 question quizzes. Very hard on grading. Isn't specific on what he wants. Makes us present projects b4 due date. Top 5 worst teachers I've ever had.
His due dates & times were constantly in flux. He's profoundly disorganized. It was impossible to decipher how he arrived at grades and docked points on a test because he "felt like" I guessed. He's sexist and wants his students to fail. Most defeating experience I've had with an educator. Always available, but just to tell you "no."
Adam's is the worst. He dumps so much on you to get done in a short amount of time. Wants you to constantly read from the textbook and answer upwards of 40 questions all while working on one big project. We were also assigned two smaller projects while working on that. Do not bother trying to reach him since he wants every little thing to be perfec
I would definitely not recommend. This man will give you a million assignments and take a million years to put the grades in for them. He also grades insanely difficult for no reason and I genuinely believe he hates his students. Also, be sure to read the material and participate in class or he'll give pop quizzes that you will most likely fail
Run away! Worst professor Ive had. Too many assignments at once. Unrealistic expectations. He requires double submissions on assignments. He doesnt grade anything in a timely manner. Fill out all the questions on his study guides whether youre assigned those questions or not and itll help on the quizzes. Reading is required. Read the syllabus
The professor is not entirely clear on what his preferences are for grading, but a student is not likely to find positive and constructive remarks on a graded paper. Despite being late on a few occasions, this professor practices the same degree of leniency on tardies or absences as he does his grading process. Overall not a great experience.
Professor Adams class was difficult but not unbearable. For almost all assignment, he gave plenty of heads up before the due date. If you do the work and put forth effort, he will recognize that.
Professor Adams class is very overwhelming . He assigns lots of assignments, pop quizzes which can seem very stressful to someone who is taking multiple classes. Another thing is he would assign questions for your team to answer before class and sometimes he assigns extra questions during class, which he expects you to finish during class.
Adams is a terrible professor, none of the assignments were at all graded in time. He took 2 months to grade essays and is very bad at communicating with his students. He is extremely strict when grading papers and is very weird when you talk 1 on 1 with him. I honestly think he is not all there. He requires double submissions which is annoying,
This professor is picky when it comes to essays, how people talk in the class, hard to understand. When it comes to quizzes make sure that you have your notes ready because sometimes they are timed at low mins which is unfair to everyone he needs to at least have an hour so people can finish completely the quizzes and test's as well.
He doesn't tell you what material should be on specific assignments The amount of work needed for each class period, to then not get graded is ridiculous He grades slow, so you don't actually know your true grade An assignment was due, but no feedback was provided from the preceding assignment that the current one was based on
Awful experience. Quizzes were unexpected and over tiny details from readings. Insane amounts of readings and questions. Barely any notice for assignments with short amount of time to complete. Sometimes passive aggressive in emails. No sympathy or leeway. Get ready to be called on, so read the texts. Not good communication, and takes long to reply
He is a great person, and his intentions of teaching are well, but I do not think that his teaching skills are in good practice. He grades papers and assignments very late!! even after the required time to submit grades is due. He assigns assignments on top of assignments. He does not keep his word on when assignments such as quizzes would be done.
He does actually teach fairly well, but he assigns so much work. Do not expect any extensions or to be able to miss any of the classes. At least half the class had to drop out due to their grade. He assigned a lot but did not give a lot of reminders. He runs the class like it is a high school class and is not very understanding.
As of writing this , I have just finished my sophomore year of college. While I have had tough professors here and there, this prof by far was the WORST I have had. Unfair and VERY rigid/unflexible guidelines for grading, to the point that scoring high on assignments is nigh impossible. Inflexible on ALL policies and criteria. Run while you can.
Mr. Adams's class was challenging. He does not grade fairly, he doesn't accept late assignments and his attendance policy is bad along with his Syllabus. The class was not conducive to learning. Overall, I would not recommend this course to anyone else nor should anyone ever take him. Make sure to read reviews about your professors!
This class is very challenging and had unfair grading, assignments also are not graded on time, and there is lots of pop quizzes that are shortly timed, inaccurate syllabus, and no acceptance to late work. I wouldn't take this course again nor would I recommend it to anyone.
I thought everyone was being overdramatic. Mr. Adams is actually really good with lectures but the homework and testing was TERRIBLE. I love working hard but Mr. Adams assigns so much mindless work that takes hours to complete. I am dead serious, do not take his class! Nice guy but wastes your time on repetitive quizzes and mindless busy work. RUN!
I took him for ENGL 1302 and left the secondish week of classes because he was rude and weird! He gave off hard teacher vibes so I #DIPPED!
Nice guy but, a lot of busy work. Half of the class dropped. Quizzes and tests are timed and difficult to navigate. Tests and quizzes also have irrelevant questions. Made A's & B's on assignments (did most of the group work myself & most were graded the final week of the semester) terrible tests & quizzes lowered my final grade to a C.
This Professor was very kind at first but quickly it all went downhill. His exams are awful and you must remember every single detail from the readings. Additionally, his assignments were excessive and not thought out clearly. Lastly, he doesn't care if you're sick or you have an emergency, you must schedule a meeting with him. Don't take class.
only take this class if you hate yourself.
Horrible class, take it if you hate yourself. This guy is mad weird gives bad vibes, and you're expected to remember everything from week 1 to week 16. Horrible quizzes and assignments gives you little time with tons of questions. Also expects you to do tons of work that is not in the grade book and takes months to grade. Worst class experience.
I wanted to die doesn't care if you pass out he'll still want you to email him
Does not put in grades. Is very awkward to talk to. Assignments are often unclear and hard to understand. Even if you have health issues you get in trouble for too many absences. Almost seems uncaring. I recommend a different class. A lot of his assignments close in the middle of the day or in the morning, making it hard to balance life and school.
I took this class last semester, and out of every class I've taken at Northeast Lakeview, Adams was the absolute worse. He does not care about his students or how/what they're learning. He cares for memorization and commanding respect. His grading is crazy and slow. He will mark off points if you write "beat" instead of "beats".
Avoid this instructor if you can. His vibe is strange and his ability to communicate is usually one way "His Way" and he'll dismiss you. It feels like he has given up on his career choice and is hoping for an early retirement buyout or something. More than half the class dropped by midterms. He deflated my enthusiasm this semester. Don't Do it!
Dont take this class. If you do dont even try to cheat on his exams or quizzes because half of the material you're told to study won't be on them. You will study for hours just to realize half your time was wasted. If you take it enjoy 4 exams during finals week. He preaches punctuality but will not be on time. Genuinely. save your self the stress.
I wouldn't suggest taking this course if you want to get an A . Because he gives pop up quizzes which are practically impossible to score a 100 on. Adams also requires a lot of reading, which makes it nearly impossible to manage other classes. If you are just looking for a credit then this class is passable if you put a LOT of time into it.
Mr. Adams is hurting the college experience at NLC. It seems like he takes pleasure in stressing students out. His final exam consisted of 5 separate exams with hundreds of questions and memorization tasks. A student had a panic attack afterwards. So weird and strange to interact with. He has a passive aggressive personality vibe that's unkind.
In all honesty he is a tough grader but if you put in effort the grade reflects. DO READINGS. The quiz questions are exactly what you will see on the exams no joke. Many people think he doesn't care, but he really does. He allowed the class several times to redo big assignments that were past there due date because half the class did not do them.
Straight to the point professor.
Adams was nice but his way of teaching was just strange. All we did was read stories from the textbook and have to discuss them in our table groups to the class or have a quiz on them. Also, weird material in general, lots of Greek things in the quizzes lol. He does take a while to put in grades as well.
Horrible Horrible Horrible teacher. NEVER EVER TAKE HIS CLASS, SHOULD BE FIRED, AND IS A PERV IN MY OPINION.
He's not the worst teacher but he is very unorganized, grades late, and like 60% of the work is done in groups. don't write your essays too well, he will accuse you of using Ai and immediately give you an F, then he will pressure you into accepting it because he's too busy to be bothered. His class was an uninspiring experience!
Please save your time and money by choosing a different professor.
This class was an unnecessary headache. Half the semester is repetitive group work that he grades late anyways. It's actually unreal how strict he is with deadlines just to turn around and grade an assignment weeks later. Long timed quizzes, 6 part final, and an overall awkward classroom environment.
