This teacher has a hate for all of mankind.

She is horrible. I didn't finish her class but i knew from day one we'd be doing way more work than we should for a three credit hour class.

Honestly don't ever take her class. Constant misunderstanding, unfair grading, and it's either her way of writing or the highway. I loved english and now I'm totally discouraged to ever write a paper again.

She was by far the worst english teacher ive ever had. If you get her drop the class and switch. Her grading is the worst ive ever seen and shes hard to understand! Oh and when you ask her a question good luck getting an answer! SHES HORRIBLE!

I was blamed when other students didn't show up for class. She disliked all of my papers, and I've been in Honors my whole life. Horrible teacher. Out of 15 kids in my class, only about 4 went on to take her 102 course.

If you liked english before this class, you will hate it after having her as a teacher. She is very unhelpful and unwilling to see any point of view but her own. She can lower any student's confidence in their writing skills.

Wow, where to start...by FAR the worst teacher I've ever had, and I consider myself to be a pretty good writer. She actually said to our class that nobody has a chance at an A so we should all just give up. Her accent is horrible as well.

Flat out bad. 3 times the work there should be for a 100 level 3 credit hour class. I doubt it's possible to get an A. She is completely unclear even if you understand her with her accent. I would never take her again.

She was the worst teacher I have ever had, EVER. She is hard to understand and if you don't write her way, she'll fail you. I showed up to every class, did every assignment, have been in honors my whole life, and she gave me a D. She should be fired.

Thank god I dropped her class...I signed up for her class and within one hour of her class, I knew she was horrible. I knew I wouldn't be the only one who felt this way....you can't even understand her freakin english.

Atrocious Japanese accent, impossible to please, very bitter, mean-spirited woman who seemed to take pleasure in humiliating her students. I got 5's on both AP Eng exams; she gave me a B, my first and only in the subject I adore. AVOID HER LIKE THE PLAGUE

I think I would rather chew off my own toe than take this class again. There was nothing I could do to please this woman...she yelled at me for other students attendance issues, and pretty much failed me--I've been in honors my whole life!

Very unclear. Grades hard. She jumps from thought to thought and doesn't take the class with her. So she sounds like she doesn't have it all together. I will never take a class shes teachesever again!!!!

I had her for Shakespeare...she barely speaks English. Her teaching Shakespeare is the equivelant of Louie Anderson teaching a course on proper diet. I was the class clown so she kinda liked me, but she will grade great writers poorly. Her writing looks like her speech. Might as well be in Japanese

Terrible/avoid

HORRIBLE!!! She's mean, unclear and disrespectful towards her students. I've always loved writing and reading, but she completey ruined the quarter for me. She also makes alot of really weird noises when trying to make a point that you can't understand anyway because her English is horrible.

She is HORRIBLE! I worked very hard on all my papers and on every single one I got a C. I thought maybe I wasn't a good writer until I took another English course and I got A's on every single paper. If you want confusion and bad grades, go for Kumamoto. (she is very insulting too)

For someone with a PhD in english she sure can't speak it. Very boring in class and unhelpful, nice person if you aren't talking about anything class related though.

Ugh man, she's obsessed with improper shakespeare. NEVER TAKE HER AGAIN, she insulted me whenever she could, though I knew more than she did on some topics. Not cool.

She is very unclear about what she wants. Never gives proper instructions. And then she will insult you if you don't do the work right. And besides, most of the students speak better english than her anyway. Dunno how she got that PHD degree! PLEASE don't take her. NOT RECOMMENDED!

She is very hard and very unclear. She is obsessed with Tolkien. She will not let you write a research paper on anything else. At least the other professors let you choose your topic. Oh, and she loves insulting students and then she says that she treats students like adults.

AVOID THIS INSTRUCTOR AT ALL COSTS. Prior to taking her class I had always received A's in English and thereafter have received A's. I dropped her course because she was insulting, telling me that she was surprised I made it through to 102 becuase I did not understand anything I read. Retribution came in the form of an A from my next 102 course.

She is very tough. She requires an enormous amount of work for her class. She is not very helpful when you request additional help on assignment that are not clear. Would NOT take her class again.

A horrid teacher. While she does know her stuff she has an AWFUL temper and AWFUL policies. She was very rude and disrespectful towards her students. And I have family/friends on the faculty at CoD, one in the English dept. and he claims that she is considered a banshee even by her colleagues. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER... take Mr. Thorpe instead!!!

Wow, ummm, I took this class as a seminar w/ Ethics. I wish I could've dropped this section of the seminar. I have no doubt she knows what she's talking about, but her accent is so thick I can't understand a word she's saying. Shakespeare is difficult enough without the accent, The english language uses articles, she doesn't realize that apparently

She is the worst teacher I have ever encountered. She is not there to help the students. Her tests and quizzes are impossible. Do not choose her as a teacher unless you want to put yourself through hell for a whole semester.

I took honors english all through high school and recieved A's. When I started college, I took English with this teacher and thought maybe I just wasn't cuttin' it because she gave me a C. No, she's just horrible. I recieved A's in english 102 and 103. AVOID THE ENGLISH TEACHER WHO CANNOT SPEAK ENGLISH!!!

Horrible, Horrible teacher. I am an English major, and this is the worst English teach that I have ever had in my life. She just stands there and she is rude when you talk to her. I'm very interested in English, but this class was bad! 1 hr of silence waiting for her to initiate class. Nice person, probably, but bad teacher, and VERY conservative.

Horrible teacher! Don't even give her a chance! She gave us a 10 question quiz, I got 1 wrong and she FAILED me on the quiz. She is insane. DROP HER CLASS IMMEDIATELY. I wasted $400 on this class. AWFUL.

She is a god awful teacher. Incredibly mean and degrading and not only that, grades things ridiculously and impossibly hard. You will NEVER be good enough for her, and she'll make sure to tell you that. I'm serious people if you signed up for her class...DROP IMMEDIATELY!!!!!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! I am not a poor student taking out my frustrations on Ratemyprofessor.com. I am a good student who works hard, and enjoys a challenge. This was not challenging- it was ridiculous. She does not understand her students and should not be teaching Shakespeare- she has no flexibility. Only her interpretation matters- not yours.

If you want to pass english 1101 with credit to advance to 1102, do not take her class. If you are asian, then I guess you can take her class, however you may hate life temporarily.

Horrible teacher and even duller class. She had no compassion/understanding towards when I missed 2 weeks of school (in hospital) and I missed all the prep for our last paper.

Terrible teacher I just dropped this course. Her grading is beyond confusing. She is hard to understand, being that she is an older japanese lady. Assignments are confusing and alot of work. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER!

Worst teacher, part of the reason i transferred schools. Couldnt understand anything she said. Class is pointless you just work on papers and she gets mad if you leave early. My suggestion if she is all thats left for classes, WAIT for another

I had her for an online British Literature class. She did not adhere to the syllabus. She embarrassed me in front of my online peers. She did not seem to care about the class at all. If you must, MUST take this class, do it. But if there is any way at all for you to not have her as a teacher, go per that route. Awful.

She asks for assignments to be submitted by the date listed on the syllabus, which is impossible to do considering her assignments and her syllabus do not match at all.

Teacher is horrible. Hard to understand and not good at explainig assignments. Tough grader, First day of class there were about 25 students, third day there were 10 of us. I suggest to NOT sign up for her class!

TERRIBLE. Can't understand her and she doesn't help you what so ever. She also made us "run the class" and teach eachother which did not work.
