worst teacher i have ever had.. i reccomend not taking her. she is very nice and extremely smart, she is just not a good teacher.
Man, she was hard. Tests were crazy and she always used the computer to do all the problems which made it very difficult to follow. Very nice if you ask for help, but if you don't like math are not too good in it, I do not recommend.
I dont believe Ne of the bad comments on her... She was a great teacher... Tip: Print her notes from her web site before class, youll get an A no doubt!
I took her in the summer for Cal I & it was easy. She is a little hard to understand at times cuz of her asian accent. However, she is helpful and funny. She walks around to make sure students understand. PRINT OUT HER NOTES!!,class will go smoothly. Daily quizzes are from her hwk problems.Do hwk ace quiz and test.
She sucks as a teacher and you cannot understand what she is saying. She doesn't try to help and she is not a good teacher overall.
She's very nice, and extremely intelligent. She's helpful (in class and in tutoring sessions). Her tests are generally very hard, and her homework continues to pile up! But, difficult tests in Calculus related courses should be a normality by now. If you can get past the accent she has, you'll be fine though. Just STUDY!
I took her for trigonometry online and it was very easy, she always answered all my questions and was very helpful when i had problems understanding the questions...i recommend taking her class online
She's nice and her accent is hard to understand at times. You really have to study out of class and also go to her for help! Her tests are really really really really hard! Sometimes you study like crazy and yet you still fail! Print out her notes and still doesn't help :( don't really recommend her unless you like to study like crazy :P
She's an amazing teacher! Her tests are difficult but she puts forth the effort to make sure everyone understands. She is always available for tutoring and gives lots of practices through online and additional in-class. Studying on your own is mandatory, and the A's will not be handed to you but through hard work.. Hard, but you will learn LOTS!!!!
Onlne material is very useful, there's some communication difficulty but if you go 2 class everyday with some knowledge of the material to be taught you'll be able to ask the right questions and work well with her. A general rule: If you study and practice the chapter 10 hours in total you'll Ace the test, if you glance the chapter for 2 hrs = fail
She's a very good teacher. You will get an A in the class provided you understand the material. And while it might be hard to understand the material, it's important not to let up on it. She's available extensively throughout the day for tutoring and she does it extremely well. You might not notice it in one or two sessions but it's helped me a lot
she is not a good teacher. i would not get her as a teacher unless there is no choice.
Okay she is a good teacher but her tests are really hard! Do the homework and the practice quizzes online, it helps, but it does not guarantee that you'll do well on the test. If you're a bit slow when it comes to math, do not sign up for her classes because she is sometimes difficult to understand and she goes really fast sometimes
She is a very helpful teacher.
if you like math i would recomend her. otherwise probably not. i like her but i can see how some might not. she goes fast sometimes. she really likes her job though you can tell. i like how she is more than happy to explain the logic and proof behind some of the more difficult math principles. but she does go pretty fast.
FAST. HELPFUL. UNDERSTANDS THE MATERIAL AND ENJOYS HER JOB.
Read the other comments, they are fair to her. She is a good teacher, and her class is ALOT of work, so be prepared. If you work hard you will learn.
She's a topologist, so she can't tell the difference between a donut and a coffee cup (inside joke)
Excellent professor in Differential Equations. Lots of hw, but the tests come from the hw. I managed to get an "A" in this course and learned a lot! Highly recommended. She curves grades as well.
Worst class ever!! she does not care about her students and they're grades. All she did was teach really fast and leave. Soo much hw!! and it wasn't even for a high % of your final grade. no curves. grades super strict. Comprehensive final that's worth 25% of your grade. VERY BAD TEACHER! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!
I don't recommend her for online class. She doesn't reply the post online, just her private email where nobody can be benefited from your questions. And her tests are super LONG. I study like crazy this semester and still not sure if I could get an A. Just wanna let you know that I'm Asian. Math has never been in my problems' list until this class.
I took her for both trig/pre-cal and personally I liked the way she taught - no small talk or random thoughts - just math. However, she does move REALLY fast and it can be very hard to get caught up again. Other than that the class is four major tests, a big final, and homework. She does really try to help you if you put forth the effort.
not a very good teacher. she is nice but very hard to understand: accent & teaching method. i do not recommend her.
She isnt a very good teacher, all the reviews are extremely easy, then the test are exremely hard. There will be content on the test you have only seen once in 4 weeks. Shes speaks extremely fast and is hard to understand. I would not suggest Mrs.B to anyone. She will also confuse with long and complicated problems, then show you a much easier way.
PROS: She's funny, nice, available to help outside of class. CONS: She's difficult to understand (heavy accent, talks fast, writes sloppy), too much homework, tests are VERY hard, no curve grading, only 1 point of extra credit, difficult comprehensive final. I wouldn't take her class unless you are naturally good at complex math.
Mrs.B is a hard teacher. I got a D and im taking right now-cal 2 and so far i have an A. you will fail her calss but understand some of the materials. reviews are easy and test are extremly hard. trust me you dont want to take her! oh plus lots of homework too(per section) you have been warned.
Took online. She takes a grade on discussions & expects to post for each chapter. I didn't see the point not everyone has questions or the time to post. Tests were harder than reviews. Overall a difficult class especially for those who struggle w/ math. Also attendance is taken via a posted password. Not like any other online classes I've taken.
Her test are waaaay harder then reviews and quizes. the test are worded differently from how your taught. She doesn't explain anything just shows you the problem and shows you the answer but not how she got the answer. Do not take if you struggle with test taking or if you arent self taught. i have a 3.8gpa and struggled in her class.
The professor is very involved in online discussions, the class is not easy but it can be done with a lot of dedication. She works with mymathlab so that helps too. Overall I would recommend her.
This is one of the best math teacher I've had if you actually need to learn the subject. She has a Doctorates in Mathematics and will explain and prove anything you ask. She is also very active in the Math community and will help anyone with anything. She gets poor reviews because she actually teaches math, she is strict, but you will LEARN.
Her online class consists of just homework. There is zero instruction. When I have questions on where to direct my attention (phrased many different ways), I don't get a useful answer, even when asking about my failing grade. She is willing to help, but she doesn't understand students, seen in messageboard. Take her if you are already good at math.
Read all reviews before choosing her. She is a bad professor that prefers students that make A's compare to students that make below a B or a C. She is rude and when your are willing to volunteer to answer a problem and don't know the answer she will embarrass you. Take her only as a last option.IF you choose her study independently expect no help
Do not take a online mini semester course with her unless you are extremely good at math. She assigns long quizzes, loads of homework and develops hard confusing test.
RULE OF THUMB: Every student should know that if the whole class is doing group work after lecture the proffesor: does not how to teach. He/she confuses class during lecture thus making every student not to learn the material. In other words she is not good. SHe is also rude, thinks to much of her. Tests are hard. Review does not cover test
Very difficult teacher. She has a bit of an Asian accent that can be difficult to understand at times and she goes extremely fast through concepts. Homework is on MyMathLab and she gives optional quizzes to boost a low test grade, but these quizzes are on concepts not taught in class or at all and can take 2-3 hours to complete. Do not recommend.
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS. ZERO INSTRUCTION. You are required to learn all the material on your own! And when you get all the homework and quiz questions correct, you assume you will do well on the test, but THE TESTS ARE SO HARD, and they are weighted as 45% of the grade.
I think that Professor Bergbauer was a great professor. Do the homework and make sure you ask questions. I will be taking her for my Calc 2 class.
Professor Bergbauer was a great teacher. She explained everything very clearly, and was helpful if you had any questions. She also encouraged her students to enter competitions or join the math club, and showed concern for their learning. If you're prepared to study enough outside of class, you will do well.
Took her Summer class online. It was very time consuming to stay on top of homework/quiz assignments. 4 exams and a final + (4-5) homework/1quiz per reg exam. It was a real struggle for me. However, I couldn't have passed, let a lone got a B if it weren't for how helpful she was. She meets in online video sessions where she answers any question.
It was a hard class. Had to do a lot of textbook digging, homework galore - no time to sleep, but Calculus is a tough subject and I expected to be busy. Dr. Bergbauer answered all questions promptly, created videos and posted them to help with questions. You have to work hard, but she is there to help. Participation in discussion board is a must.
Prof. Bergbauer is awesome! She knows what she's teaching and she's an engaging professor. She is tough because she expects students to be actively learning and learning to love math. She gets involved with the students, she is sarcastic and funny, and she has good office and tutoring hours. She is just great!
Terrible teacher, doesn't teach just post notes straight from the textbook without explanation. Her "helpful" videos are so poorly made you cant even hear was shes saying and she has a thick accent which makes it hard to understand. At least 40 weekly homework problems.
I decided to take this online because she gad decent reviews and i regret every second. All the notes are straight from the textbook and you essentially teach yourself all the material, she has an incredibly difficult accent that makes it hard to understand and the videos that are uploaded are incredibly poor in quality. Don't take this with her.
She is not very helpful and her notes aren't either. You are pretty much teaching yourself and when she does help she is very hard to understand and sometimes backtracks which makes the problems more confusing.
Easy to work with, eager to help out, knows what she's doing & will take the time to help you.
In class, she explains how to work problems very well but each class is 100% necessary to attend. If you expect to just be able to wolfram and get by, that won't cut it. She helps you actually learn the material. If you need calc for your major, take her bc she will actually TEACH and do it well. Her partial credit is pretty lenient but you cant BS
Do not go for her she is not helpful, If you care about your grade do not go for her. her teaching method is so hard to get, she is not available when you need help she does not reply emails. very poor experience. I toke an online class with her and she is not reading even messages. I would never take her again.
Took this online, and she was great at responding to any questions. Cares a lot about her class and is eager to help, there isn't much extra credit, but she will add extra points where it is due. If you are not a self learner, this may be a difficult course to take online. Final exam is super hard, so I'd make sure to ace my first four exams!
I took her in person for math 2423, I had straight As in my maths classes but unfortunately I have to drop this class because I could not understand her. I would definitely, say that she tries her best and put a lot of effort to help her student, but in the end her way of teaching is at a fast pace that a student cannot understand.
Really great teacher. Exams dont have many questions, just take forever to complete and I would have a hard time finishing them. Reviews prepare you greatly for exams. Does her best to make sure everyone understands the material. Highly recommend for cal 3 and other maths.
I took Professor Bergbauer in person for Calc 3 and she was an amazing professor! Although I failed her class, that was my own fault due to personal reasons but her lectures are great! She practically breaks it down barney style. And she will help out as much as she can. She does give extra credit opportunity for exams which are short but tedious.
The tests are really hard to the point we sometimes stay 30 minutes longer than our 1hr30min class. We cover way too much for each test which makes it harder, and the teacher only teaches higher level math so she thinks the class is a breeze. If you want to get an A don't take this teacher, because it will be incredibly difficult. Look elsewhere.
She is not helpful, all I am asking is never try her. It is really hard to understand her. I toke an online class with her and she is not welling to help when you have issues. I sat up few appointments with her to talk to her and get some help, but all she was saying was that she does not have enough time. I am glad I passed the class.
Took this class online. DOES NOT ALLOW SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR ON YOUR EXAMS. Homework due every other day and exams are never what you study. Most exam averages were 60% (you can check on d2l once she grades all test). On the positive side she grades really fast. Do not recommend.
Horrible! She covers 5 different subjects in one day, then only spends 10 mins on each subject. Complains that she doesnt have time to spend on certain questions. She will work out 2-3 math problem, then move on. When she works out the first problem, she turns around gives a more difficult problem when we havent even learn the first problem!
She gives quality information, but she works and talks too fast. Its a little difficult for me to even understand her sometimes because she has a some-what heavy accent. But, shes a great professor overall. Shes very nice, and has tutoring for all of her students. Shes also very understanding and flexible with homework and test dates.
Trig is a hard class so be prepared to read the textbook and review her slides. As long as you know what you are doing, the class will be a breeze. The tests make up 70% of your overall grade! I like that the teacher posts the grades quickly and responds to my emails within 24 hours. She is very helpful and was willing to work around my schedule.
Works ahead of syllabus, so if you miss class theres a possibility you'll miss a whole chapter of notes. get ready for WAY TOO MUCH homework. shes a fun person but i really didnt like her as my professor. she has a heavy accent and talks really fast so if you cant work as fast as her she calls you out. office hours available though which is good
Felt like I had no time to breath this whole semester homework due every other day, exams are paper, doesnt reflect any of your homework. Final will be electronic using my math lab, so get read for some guessing formats.
Dont recommend her if you dont learn well at faster paces she goes through 4 units of material in one lecture and expects you to master it . Tons of homework test are hard . Heavy heavy accent!!! Hard to understand whats she saying . She doesnt really explain the problem when working it out just expects you to know the steps .
Make sure you do all the homework and review before the exam.
I would not recommend this professor at all her accent is SUPER HEAVY and also she teaches a lot of material in one day which causes confusion. Try to avoid if possible
I got an A on her class, and I see her class is easy for me. In fact, if you hate math, do not take her class online because she covers 4 lessons in one hour per week. You have to study for the remain lessons. But she will definitely answer your questions immediately on remind. Test is done on paper with WebEx & lockdown browser, and she watchesYou
Professor Bergbauer is always willing to help even at 10pm at night. gives extra credit on almost every test. Hard to get an A but also hard to fail. Homework and online Quizzes are a big part of grade. 100 on homework 90 on quiz's 85 test 1 57 test 2 35 test 3 67 on final Still was able to get a B DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!
Literally the best professor Ive ever had . Very caring and always willing to help. I once texted her at 12 am , shed still kindly reply and very respectful. She offers tutoring sessions every week , unfortunately non of my classmates attended , but they were very beneficial. Homework is probably the hardest thing in this course, tests were easy
Worst class ever!! she does not care about her students and grades. VERY BAD TEACHER! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!
Amazing professor. Always accessible. Put in the effort and you'll pass whatever class you're taking.
This is by far the worst professor I've had throughout my college experience. She gives unclear instructions and does not teach. Even if you have the correct answer, she will not give you credit unless you solved the problem the way she wants you too. Do not take this professor.
Hard to understand what she says. She has the most strict grading i've ever seen. If you show work and get the correct answer, she'll still take points off if you forgot one teeny tiny detail like parentheses around your equation. She gives you unclear video lectures and only gives you access to a small portion of the textbook. Avoid at all costs.
professor bergbauer is brutal, but i feel that all the comments she's given me has ultimately made me a better mathematician. if you can survive her classes, you can survive any math course. if youre looking for a professor who will hold your hand, this isnt it
I would not recommend this professor unless you're interested in struggling. She relies on students to perform much of the busy work of the class, such as providing feedback on homework, and her feedback is very limited in how useful it is. If you are a student capable of working alone? You will go far. If not? Avoid at all costs.
Least favorite professor by a significant margin. She was quite stringent in her grading, deducting points for even minor errors or any attempts to solve homework problems using methods other than those she had taught. Her lectures were challenging to follow due to her strong accent. Do not take her class.
My least favorite professor by a significant margin. She was quite stringent in her grading, deducting points for even minor errors or any attempts to solve homework problems using methods other than those she had taught. Her lectures were challenging to follow due to her strong accent. Do not take her class if you want grades any higher than a B+.
Very unhelpful, she assigned homework ever. Single. Day. There were no opportunities for extra credit. She would mark things as wrong even if they were written out step by step on the notes. The notes she provided were in clear and you basically have to teach yourself everything. She was very difficult and unclear
If your employed or taking other classes, look the other way. Lots of homework! You will have to basically teach yourself because the lectures are very vague, and hard to understand cause she has a heavy accent. Very tough grader! Its a must to Learn HER way of teaching so Khan Academy only gets you so far.
If you have a life or are taking any other classes I suggest you look the other way. You are basically teaching yourself.
She does not try to help. She takes off points for every little thing and if you try to re do it or ask if you can do extra credit she refuses. I would not recommend this teacher to nobody stay away she is not there to help us
She refused re takes on any errors. I put 3 squared - 2=7 and she took points off for her not writing that 3 squared equals 9 A lot of homework too that is very heavy and, if you have a job I do not recommend her because one assignment is usually 60 questions and is to time consuming and tests are only 10 questions which made it so hard to pass.
there are 4 asisgnments every week. an assignment every week day except friday. you are basically yewvjing
there is an assignment every day except for friday (test every other week). you are basically teaching yourself and it is very time consuming. not a good class because it's very hard to balance this work with other classes and also having a life/job. she never answered my emails when i was having technical difficulties with the site she has us use.
shes very understanding and kind. i had gone through something personal during the semester and she was very understanding
Terrible, never responds to emails.
Thought the other ratings were dramatic but unless you want to dedicate your whole life to this class, take a different professor. 2-3 homework assignments daily mon-sun that take about 3-5 HOURS to complete. EVERY DAY!! Truly heinous. The hw is NOT EVEN parallel to the exam content. Good professor and very easily accessible but insane course load.
Loved this professor. The workload was a little heavy but nothing impossible. She was very open and caring and available for solutions to my score or any technical issues i had. I recommend her wholeheartedly if you really want to learn.
I failed this course with a D but appealed however that was mostly on me. Prof bergbauer was amazing!! So responsive and helpful and was always around to help with any tech issues or problems like that. I recommend but you def have to do the work and earn the grade! The content is difficult but such a good professor.
