Great teacher if you never what to go to class. All the notes are posted online. Its a joke. Sit back and enjoy your A.
Awesome teacher, very nice, and material is easy and interesting. Great class.
Great class if you want an easy A, be careful though, she is angry that students are doing well and cutting down on good grades.......
TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE! It was a lot of busy work, so it was more convenient to do it at home. Participation on Blackboard was key (even if it was irrelevent), and the exams were open book and multiple choice (almost word for word from the text). Easy A if you read and do the assignments on time.
Great professor! One of the best professor lehigh has offered!
This class is really easy even though she is not good at teaching it.
Explains everything well and is nice. Fairly easy class.
easiest of the required business classes- save time to do lengthy arduous access assignments. Chitra does her best to keep real dry material somewhat interesting.
Worst class I've taken at Lehigh, has no relevant value. Memorize all the terms in the book for the tests and you will get 100's don't go to class unless it is in the computer lab otherwise its not worth it.
Since it was an online course it was pretty difficult to rate based on some of the categories but I never had a problem reaching her and she was always more than fair and helpful when needed. The class was a little time consuming but it was fun to learn and pretty easy to do well in if you put in any effort.
i think that this calss is effective and taking it over the summer online was a good desicion, while you still learn the material it is a class that can be done at your own pace.
she tought the online class, and was very effective in conveying all the needed info.
this class is basically homeworks, 3 tests and a project. the homework is easy if you keep on schedule and tests are pretty good if you keep up with everything also. i hate how there is a group project for an online course. i find it very very hard to organize and plan with my group since we are never in the same place.
Good amount of work but helpful class.
GOOD TEACHER
Nice person who genuinely wants students to succeed and understand the material as best as possible.
Helpful and uderstading off class issues. Seems to be interested in actually being involved in the class and not just throwing material at the student
Everything is well defined and easy to understand. She does a good job of helping you understand the subject even though its online.
Knows the subject well. Lectures are very helpful and useful. Some assignments were not so clear at the beginning, but everything was clarified a little more as the course went on. Overall, a very good teacher!!
So far everything has been great. Prof. Nayar is an excellent professor who knows the subject well. She is very helpful and understanding to unique situations.
Good teacher, just getting the groups together was difficult
Professor Nayar is very helpful and understanding. The class is pretty straight forward and easy to understand. The only difficult thing about the class is getting all the group members together or decided on certain topics.
Very organized...and gives you tons of reminders ab when work is due
The class is very interesting and there are always people around to help you if you need it. I feel that I have learned alot of useful information that will help me later on my business path.
She is always there to answer questions and gives us plenty of notice on assignment and reminders of due dates. All in all, she is a very good teacher.
It's an online course so we do not get to interact with the professor directly, but she is helpful when we are having difficulty. She responds to emails and other questions and is understanding if there is a problem with an assignment.
Cares a lot about her students succeeding, and will help as much as possible.
online class so i can't really tell, seems to be ok
The class isn't to hard and Professor Nayer is very helpful and clear about what she expects.
The only reason I go to class is because I don't want to miss the attendance qizzes she gives every now and then. The lecture drags on forever, and everything she says is in the book. She's very helpful, though, if you ask her about something.
Very Helpful with lecture videos. A good amount of work but it is an online class, really just have to budget your time and you'll be fine. Dont fall behind otherwise it will be hard to catch up. Overall very good teacher and you'll learn alot by working with Access so often.
online course-very convientient for busy schedule, but i am used to be able to approach professors about any questions/concerns that I have and it's a little bit harder to get your questions anwered promptly and clearly over the internet
BIS 111 so far has been very interesting and very manageable given the time and logistical constraints placed on the class. I look forward to the 2nd half of the session.
The online course is great and she is helpful thru the whole thing. Watching the lectures are definately worth it.
A very good professor. Video lectures are clear, and she is very involved with the class, even given the communication challenges an on-line course poses. You can tell she is really passionate about the topic and is always willing to help. MS Access assignments are extremely frustrating if you already know the program though.
The instruction is very clear and the grades fair. The test questions can be tricky.
Took the class online over the summer, which was great for my schedule. Lectures were clear--short and to the point. Nayar was great, always sending out emails and ready to help. Easy to get into touch with. I strongly suggest this class.
Professor Nayar was extremely helpful with the summer BIS 111 class. She sent out e-mails all the time and was very willing to answer any questions I had.
The course is fairly easy. Just read the textbook and do the assignments and you will be fine.
bis 111
I'm taking Bis111 online so there is little interaction
I found the knowledge gained from this course to be a firm grounding in databases and information systems. The way homework is setup is slow and I feel that following step by step I don't gain the same knowledge of the topics. That being said the end of chapter problems are a partial solution, requiring more analysis and implementation.
This course is great for distance learning students, I recommend to take over the summer
I'm taking this course online over the summer, and it is not bad as long as you do the work. There are a lot of assignments to submit from access, but they are not hard. The professor is good and nice, and she will help you with questions.
Great
Good Class. Pretty easy. Although the website project isn't very easy. The instructions are very clear.
definitely recommend taking this class online over at lehigh. the homework is tedious and i don't really find it very helpful, but still pretty easy for the most part. as long as you're on top of the work it's not difficult to do well.
Prof is very helpful when emailed with questions. she also checks her email often.
Profssor Nayar is very accessible and organized conidering this is an online class
Took the online version...way better because the actual class is painful to sit through. Class is taught entirely by the book. Easy "A" if you're not completely computer illiterate.
Class is much better online. HW assignments are tedious but they help you to understand the concepts.
BIS111 good professor, answers questions promptly, class is not too difficult if you stay on top of the material. online is good if you can pace yourself well.
Learn a lot in this class. Assignments are tedious and long, and some parts of the assignments worth 60 points are difficult to understand. Online is good because you can work at your own pace. I feel there is a little too much because it seems like there is something everyday.
I took this course online over the summer and she was very helpful and was on top of her game. Much better communicator than most professors are during the actual school year. I highly recommend you take this course over the summer. She went out of her way several time to help me out too.
I am taking the course over the summer and is going very well. You have to stay on top of the work, as you can easily get behind. Access seemss like it will be very useful to know in business. Also, information systems is a very importatnt part of all aspects of business. This is a great class to be taking.
Great class to be taking over the summer. Though it's online, you still feel like the professor is present (those daily emails and announcements really help). Course load is fairly moderate. T.A.'s are quick to respond to any problems. Highly recommend everyone to take this class over the summer..it makes you much more aware of the subject.
I took BIS111 as a summer course. Prof. Nayar and the TAs were extremely helpful and on top of things. There is a decent amount of work but if you have a sense of time management it is easily do-able. I would definately recommend this class either as a summer class or regular semester class. Its actually pretty interesting and useful.
Not an extremely hard class but a decent amount of work. Also not the most interesting subject. Access labs are long and tedious. Semester project is not well explained.
Definitely take this online over the summer. Six week course, takes a decent amount of work (about two/three assignments a week, each takes two hours or so) but it is easier than during the year because you can use notes on tests and can work at your own pace. She is helpful and I definitely recommend this class.
Professor Nayar is very helpful. Feel open to approach him with any questions you may have. A good online course that provides you with necessary skills for future jobs, etc. Anyone can really take a lot from it if they keep up with the readings/work assigned.
great class, definitely recommend to take it online bc you do things at your own pace.
Excellent communication, clear instructions, highly recommended!
very helpful and attentive. always available for questions. A great person, I hope to meet her!
I took the online summer class. Nayar and the TA's have been very helpful. They're great communicators and will respond to questions within hrs. They've been kind, patient, and very hardworking when trying to help with assignments - if a solution can't be reached they'll have you email them the database you're working on and they'll analyze it 4 u!
I took the class online, Professor Nayar and the TAs were very helpful with any questions I had or issues that arose. I highly recommend taking it online with her!
She was a very good teacher.
Nice teacher. E-mails are helpful. TAs are willing to help you if you ask. Access textbook is good.
Teacher is very helpful and so are the TA's. Emails that are sent out daily are usefull
Professor does a fantastic job of handling the class online and outlines expectations clearly and concisely. The "wiki" and disc. board portion of the course seems forced and irrelevant. The access portion is a lot of work but feels worth it because I feel comfortable with the program, which I was not familiar with at all before taking the class.
flawless communication. avid learner as well as teacher. excellent diction.
Very helpful, understanding, and enthusiastic.
Good class to take online. Professor Nayar and the TA's are very helpful and they respond quickly and clearly. Access is awesome because I now know about (and frequently use) a program that I knew nothing about before. The team project portion of the class is terrible. It is too hard to do group projects with an online class.
I really enjoyed this class. It was nice to take it online but definitely demanding. I really appreciate the way Prof Nayar gets back to you and updates you so often and the TAs are always on top of things. I don't think the project is useful and it seems like busy work. Overall I really enjoyed the class though and found it helpful!
Glad I took this online as the access work is sort of just busy work. The group project seems pointless and it is very difficult to communicate with group members. Other than that, the communication in this class with the professor is excellent.
Teacher is very good with emails and is extremely understanding. I would definitely suggest taking the class online, because it is demanding and requires time and attention.
Nayar was helpful and very enthusiastic about teaching. i took the class online, and she sends emails very regularly, keeping you motivated. She likes her job, you can tell, which makes a huge difference...with an online class it's really compacted and therefore can be difficult. I enjoyed her.
She is a very good teacher teaching a somewhat boring subject. The group project is a great deal of work, but the sessions in which she teaches how to properly use access, excel, and sharepoint designer have been very helpful to me even outside of class.
She makes lectures generally pretty interesting. As long as you study for the tests, youll be fine.
i'm taking this class online now. nayar is really helpful- she always emails us to remind us about assignments and exams and responds to emails very quickly
She expects a lot from you but is always there if you have any questions.
nayar is very quick to respond to emails and really enjoys teaching the course....the work isn't too bad as long as you stay on top of it....it really isn't that bad of a course.....definitely take it over the summer
I'm taking the class online this summer- the work isn't hard as long as you keep up with the course calendar. Nayar is quick to respond to any question/concern and has been very understanding and helpful. I'd recommend it for an online summer class
Professor Nayar is great. Shes very available, a great communicator, and really wants to help her students in any way she can. She is a great professor. Im taking the course online this summer. The material and tests arent too hard its just can be a lot if you dont keep up because the class is shortened. I recommend taking it online. it is doable e
Professor Nayar is extremely helpful and is always available to answer questions. The lessons are also interesting. I enjoyed this class more than I thought I would and would recommend it to other business students because the professor is readily available even though it is an online course.
Professor Nayar always responds to emails promptly, and instructions are always clear. The amount of work for the course is just enough. Any confusion from instructions results from directions on the assignment directions, not the instructor's directions.
Professor Nayar is very helpful and understanding. I am taking it as an online course, and it is not too difficult of a course, but if there are ever any questions, Professor Nayar is quick to help. I suggest taking the course online.
She is very prompt to answering emails and informs the students of upcoming assignments well in advance. Overall a very good and comprehensive professor.
She gets the job done
relatively interesting class, and you can tell that professor that professor nayar cares about this subject. Sometimes it can be difficult to articulate what is needed in an assignment but she is a good teacher
Professor Nayar is among the most helpful professor's at Lehigh. She is passionate about the subject and cares that her students do well in her class.
Good professor. Tells you exactly what you need to do in order to do well in the class
Took online course but made it easy to understand. Made goals and requirements clear for the course.
Very good online class. Professor Nayar states requirements very clearly and what is needed to be performed to do well in class. She is also very helpful with questions and responds very promptly.
I took BIS 111 as an online class. I like the fact Prof Nayar sends out daily emails to remind you what you should be doing and upcoming deadlines. Through the class you learn to appreciate everyday technology a lot more.
Took BIS online during the summer session. I like the freedom you have with the course because you can do the work at your own pace and just submit it by the due dates and actively participate in discussions.
Definitely take this in the summer. It is nice that I will be getting it out of the way. Professor Nayar is extremely willing to help out in every way possible and unlike some professors I have had, she truly cares about the success of her students.
Although the information may not be the most interesting, I recommend the course because it is very good to take it online over the summer. You can complete assignments at your own pace and you are still learning even though you aren't in the classroom.
I think that this is a great class to take over the summer. You can learn the material at your own place and the assignments are generally given early so you can finish them well before the deadline if you need.
Professor Nayar keeps us up to date on what is going on in the class, so it is very easy to complete the assignments on time. This is the perfect class to take over the summer.
Responds very quickly to discussion board comments.
Class is part of the required core, but the material and the way it is taught in the summer course, is borderline comical. Do the work on time. Get the B+ and get out.
Taking BIS 111 as an online course over the summer. Professor Nayar is helpful and answers emails promptly. Interesting course.
Very accommodating and responds quickly to questions.
Very understanding and accomodating. Great professor!
Very nice professor, lectures can be a bit boring though. The computer lab stuff we learned was really helpful for actual life but lectures were bogged down with confusing definitions. Students have to give a group presentation and generally do well if put in the time to make it presentable
Terrible experience taking this class online. Professor responds to questions quickly, but assignments are not very clear. There is very little direction, and it's pretty much on you to figure things out on your own.
I am taking this class online this summer. It is not easy, but it is fair. This course is not easier to take in the summer than fall, but it's only one class that you have to handle. The exam wasn't terrible if you study. If you keep on top of the work, I think that it is a good class to take. The professor is very helpful.
Online summer class - not too hard, but one must keep up with deadlines in order to survive - Professor helpful and responds back quickly.
The professor is helpful and responds quickly, but I felt the TA was not helpful at all. When I asked a question about an assignment, she literally copy/pasted the directions I already had. I am also not thrilled about paying to watch YouTube Videos. It's a lot in a short time but if you keep up with the schedule the workload is bearable.
The class is definitely a lot of work, but if you make sure you check your e-mails and the class schedule often then you should be alright. The TA's haven't really contributed to the class thus far, but I think this is mainly due to the fact that I haven't really sought help from them.
Does not teach to my style of learning. Good for some, but I have had to work on it.
Good teacher, great for online
Great class just keep up on the work and it will be fine. Prof Nayar is great at teaching the class and gives good information. Test are fair and the assignments take time, but can be done.
Good class for the summer if you keep up with the workload and pace of the class.
This was a great class. However, it was difficult and did require alot of time. But it was manageable for a summer class.
Great class to take during the summer. The work takes awhile, but I have been able to do it all. Don't do this class if you will not work. I have people in my group that are slackers and it is really annoying. Test are difficult, but I wouldn't change them. Hopefully there is a curve.
Sweet and really helpful. Tests are relatively easy but textbook-centric, so be sure to do the reading.
Easy A class. Tests are all open book. Exams are all multiple choice with an excel or access part. Access is hard to learn. She teaches is quickly and poorly. Def one of the easiest business requirements. Keep in mind you won't learn a thing about actual information systems.
Easiest class. Exams are multiple choice (open book) with an online quiz every week. The only tricky part is learning Access.
First test and first assignment are biggest hurdles in the class. Make sure you know where everything is in the book before taking the test. No need to memorize since tests are open-book, but be sure to study adequately! Actually learn Excel and Access because you will need them later. Nayar does a good job of presenting topics.
Incredibly easy class. I got the highest scores on each exam without studying too much. While the tests are open-book, I recommend skimming each tested chapter somewhat thorough, which will get you to memorize the text so you can quickly knock out questions, and if you dont know an answer, you at least remember around where to find the answer.
Very nice and responsible teacher. Grades are posted for every homework and tasks. Tests are reasonably written and graded. As long as you follow her in class. Everything will be fine. some of the material in this class is quite inspiring, too.
Doesn't care about her students. At at really. Easy to get a good grade if you try at all but she's unhelpful. Honest truth.
Prof. Nayar is pretty straightforward. She grades back assignments really fast. There are quizzes every Friday due before midnight, so beware. Tests are open book , but you should still review before the exam. She is fast paced with excel so make sure to slow her down if you don't get it. Take notes for excel, and access is pretty simple.
Attendance isn't mandatory but helps you with end of semester curve. Lots of easy hw. Open book Exams make up 60% of grade. Excel and Access assignments are easy As if you go to class and pay attention when she demonstrates the material. Don't be afraid to talk to her/ask questions after class; she's pretty cool
I love Chitra personally, she's a really good person to talk to if you have questions about BIS. Her class is pretty fair for the assignments I went to the TA, she was very helpful. Overall Chitra cares about her students and I really enjoyed her as a professor.
Good professor. Makes stuff interesting and 8 ams just bearable. The class is graded very fairly. Not easy but certainly far from difficult as long as you understand the excel/access assignments for the tests. Tests are open notes and open book which is great because with the sheer amount of info tests would be really hard otherwise. Solid prof
Professor Nayar is a good professor... the Tuesday portion of the class is almost pointless, but the Thursday lecture is great and you learn valuable computer skills. She tries to make it interesting. Pretty tough to get an A but easy to get an A- B+
Took her class online over the summer. Content isn't very difficult. A majority of the class work is done on access or excel. Basically everything about the class is frustrating, especially for mac users. Half the time her text book instructions are wrong and you'll have to figure it out yourself. Isn't much help and just directs you to IT support.
Prof Nayar isn't really helpful; she just knows what she's talking about. The first test is usually the hardest test but it gets easier with second test on Excel and third test on Access. Don't be tricked with the idea that her tests are open book: you still need to study as if it weren't.
Pretty straight forward class. All exams are open note but you need to study if you want to do well. Take notes on all the textbook chapters and on videos/articles she shares because there are always questions about those on the exams. First exam is hard, excel exam it gets better, and access is the easiest exam. Great professor who cares.
Prof Nayar did an excellent job teaching a rather unengaging syllabus. She related content to the real world-- and did an excellent job teaching Excel. Tests are open note, but challenging. Take her if you have the chance.
ATTEND CLASS! You learn so much through the in-class activities and will be behind otherwise. The first exam is REALLY hard; make sure you take in-depth notes; exams are open note. The assignments are not bad, but make sure you pay attention during them instead of just completing the steps. You need to know how to apply your knowledge on exams.
Nice teacher, the class wasn't too hard, and classwork is helpful for assignments. Sometimes in-class labs are turned for class participation, so beware. Exams aren't too bad, but the first one was the hardest. The class is theory + excel and access. Can be a little boring, but most of the time you are following along in a lab Overall, recommend!
I learned a lot in this class. Show up to the lectures and pay attention and you won't have trouble.
Go to class and take notes on EVERYTHING. Exams are open note, but make sure you have notes from the videos, articles, lectures, and more or you will fail. Also pay attention to detail in the HW because the TA is super nit-picky. Your 1st exam grade probably won't be great, but it will get better over time because each exam gets easier.
Great class. Honestly boring at times due to the content, but the class itself is easy. The professor tried to be engaging, which I enjoyed because it made some boring topics more bearable.
Such a good class. First exam is terrible, but the other two are so easy. No cumulative exams. And TAKE NOTES ON EVERYTHING - she lets you use notes during the exams.
Although the source material was boring and hard to follow, Professor Nayar made the class enjoyable and she is a great professor. Exams are open notes and not too hard, and homework are pretty easy. Just go to class and you will be fine.
HW is no big deal. Exams are open notes but if you skip the lectures and dont take notes you wont do well. Take notes on the optional readings and copy random quizlets into your notes and pray you picked the right ones. First exam is tough. next two are easy
Does not teach very well. Mainly just reads off a powerpoint and then puts questions on the exam that have little to do with the slideshows. Is not very accessible outside of class. Can come across as rude if you're persistent with question or need clarification. Rushes excel and access lessons. Became a mental burden after the second exam.
Professor Nayar's BIS111 class can be a bit dry, but her engaging teaching style makes it bearable. Attend lectures, take detailed notes, and use resources like Unstuck AI to prepare for the exams - they're open note but require understanding the material. Overall, a manageable class.
Really nice lady just a really boring class information and structure wise. You also get a cheat sheet so exams are not too hard
Very great information systems professor. She is very intellectual and knows what she is talking about. The homework are unbearably long but the exams are not that bad at all (open note). Overal great professor
