hard to understand....

You can never understand what he is talking about. To score high in his exams, you'll have to memorize the whole textbook.....

So hard, you can't understand what he is saying. Hard marker on his tests but if you can memorize the textbook then you're good to go.

Forget about this course. Chan think he teach well but in fact is not. Work load is not reasonble. Ansd, you need to do the definition in the exam.

Bad instructor, boring lecture, and crasy exam consist of this course? You would be really brave if you choose his couses again.

His accent sucks. He repeats himself alot. He looks at you funny. And he's mean. He does'nt teach he just reads off the powerpoints. He doesn't care if people get it or not, as long as hes there to read out his notes. Thats it. All he does is read.

very hard and explain unclear,I do not like his course, because his teaching skill is old-fashion. Many Asian teachers teach like this ways and make exam supper-hard. the questions in the exam is picky. you have to study very careful.

Exetremely hard prof, its hard to know what to expect for projects and test. Test are very hard as he give picky questions, like you have to give example from the textbook, which you can not provide with your own. Tons of memorzing to do and trust me, its not fun to do that at all.

He can't see very well, so if you want to participate, don't sit at the back of the class! BORING lectures, and takes obscure questions from the text, so you have to know all irrelevant parts of the chapters, not just the important stuff. Difficult to understand b/c of his accent.

Chan is such an idiot. He gives the class two useless lessons on five chapters then gives an exam on it the 3rd week. He barely even went through the chapters, so the class is basically going to have to self teach to do good on the exam. DONT EVER CHOOSE CHAN AS UR TEACHER if u have other options.

hard prof. i'm takin his class now and am thinking of dropping the course tomorrow since it's the last day to drop courses. class started out w/ 30 students, now only 10 left. so u can do the math...

He do not have enough knowledge on what he's teaching, and he just read the slides from his powerpoint. He is also unfair in giving grades specially on projects.

Where did he learn English? How can a man who can't speak, read, or write in English well teach a course? He rushes through chapters and expects you to know everything that he taught. He is the biggest moron I've ever met in my entire life!

I don't say these things easily-but do yourself a favour; Stay far, far, far away from this class...you can work your heart out & regardless of how bright you are, may be lucky to exit with a 'C'. I don't know where he found the Textbook, but they make a good couple. Bad, bad doggie!

Insanely hard... I was at the top of the class and I got 71%. He has poor English skills and is a very difficult marker... do not take this if you want to get above a B.

The worst teacher I have never seen! He talks a lot but useless at all, and he gives you super hard tests which you have to memorize the whole textbook. He is so cheap that he even doesn't want you to take one more piece of paper from him. How can he be a prof? He got very severe problems with his thoughts and behaviour.

Don't take him, he can be your worst nightmare!!!!I took him during 06 summer, and ended up dropping it because he is bloody annoying. Poor spoken english and strong cantonese accent, but he trys very hard.

Very bad!!!If you wanna fail business,you can choose his class.The test is very hard,lots questions.And he give you a very low mark on the presentation.Too bad!!!

He is a horrible teacher! Maybe speak some English, especially if you have been teaching for 13 years! Or just learn the basic CANADIAN words for your classes! I would NEVER recommend this teacher to ANYONE, and I know MANY people who who say the same!

NEVER TAKE A BUSINESS COURSE if he is teaching it. He has a very think accent and you will not be able to understand. I had to drop his class not because of it's difficulty but simply because he is unbeleivably unclear. Get Out of this class asap

marks were docked of for saying "male & female" in the midterm instead of the textbook term "masculinity & femininity" =_____=" about 90% of the midterm wasn't covered in the class discussions... he's always wanting people to be more "lively" & encouraging participation, but talks too much to have students participate :P

i should not have registered his class, unless this is a MANDARIN class. only advise is, the only instructor in this class, is your textbook.

Chan marked a student wrong on a midterm bcaus the student worded the theory differently from the textbook... i'm usually a B student, but my last midterm mark was 50%... he asks details rather than for understanding... he goes through some PPT sides over & over again... while other slides he takes about half a second & skips it... don't take him..

he is the worst teacher ever. boring lecture, unclear explanation, and always give u that stupid look. if u are gonna take his class, be ready to read the whole text book page by page word by word, cuz he will ask every single thing thats on it. the effort i put into this class = the effor i put into all my other 4 classes.

He is the worse teacher I've ever taken with. I was not suppose to have him for my Busi1100 but somehow they changed the prof at the end. He is really bad at explaining theories. He basically just read off over head. His exams are so dumb! You have to know every single word in the text book and examples given.

If you know anyone who might or is taking this class, warn them! I wish someone had warned me. This is by far the worst teacher at Kwantlen. He is an unfair marker. His lectures are hard to understand and he does not want to communicate with the students..as in he wont discuss your marks etc. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!

Please Dont take this Prof. He is very terrible instructor. I Dont think that he should be allowed to continue teaching. He does also mark you on the Personal Scale! and most likely you are to fall on his bad side if you do anything he doesn't like. Trust me there are many things he wont like about you. Such as "you think you are smart"

Can anyone tell me why this guy is still teaching? His education background means nothing at all, Fire him, Kwantlen.

Worst teacher ever. Heavy accent and quiet, can't understand a word. Picks every little detail out of the text and puts it on his tests. Boring as hell. Assigns a HUG group case project that is impossible to do when you have other courses, or even have to study for this one. A joke that he's allowed to teach.

NEVER TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM!!! Horrible teacher. He should never be allowed to teach anyone. His english is so bad that you spend all class trying to figure out what words he is using and don't ever understand what the concept is that he is trying to teach.

This proffessor is the worst proffessor that I have ever had at kwantlen, his class was terrible. He has the thickest accent I have ever heard, and more then half of the class fails his midterms. If you have a choice in the matter, and a course has two different teachers, do yourself a favour and don't take the course that this guy is teaching.

Prof. Chan is a barely comprehensible teacher with a major barrier when it comes to language. He also has a tendency to forget he is teaching an entry level class.

Do not take this class. Cannot warn you enough, instructor cannot even speak proper English. And failed our entire class on final project. He does not even follow his own guidelines.

You would think being able to speak english would be a requirement at any respectable Western Canadian Uni. Such was not the case for Hian-Chan, he can hardly string basic words together, and fails to understand the concept of teaching a 1st year class. His attempt to make an easy class as hard as possible is impressive, and he often succeeds

Horrible, I'm never taking a TBA class again! 3 out of 4 groups failed the project, maybe it was from lack of understanding or not doing it right. But how were we supposed to know? He didn't communicate anything, and walked away when we asked questions. Took this class last spring: D taking it now with David Williams: A Go with David, he's awesome.

Teaches directly from text book due to the fact that he knows absolutely nothing about what he teaches. he tries teaches good in the class. bit hard to understand due to Chinese accent. he will kill you in the project. very hard marker.

Awful teacher. Extremely high expectations, no guidance as how to fullfil random criteria for those expectations, terrible lessons.

Avoid at all costs. Class and marking is random, quality is terrible. Not a good prof.

Most people would consider fluent English to be a requirement for a professor. He might be very knowledgeable, however he lacks the ability to communicate that knowledge to his students. Thus, full review of the textbook becomes inevitable to pass his exams. Midterm class avg: 50%. Highest mark on group projects: 67%. Avoid Dr. Chan at all costs.

I won't recommend this prof to anyone. He has zero passion in teaching classes. Very old materials used, ppt hasn't been updated for years. never review quiz or mid terms (if you don't review, how can we learn from mistakes? Just look at the rate of attendance at every single class, it is embarrassing.

This teacher is a failure in teaching management. He doesn't even apply the stuff he teaches in his way of teaching. He doesn't understand whatever we ask, and I'm always lost in the middle wondering what he's teaching. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is not even considered during his teaching. He thinks only students are wrong and he is always right.

He's extremely difficult when it comes to marking especially on case study questions. He never gave the proper direction or clarification especially when it comes to the Group project. He may as well not help because it even furthers the confusion. His accent is also hard to understand that he has to repeats his words countless times.

Don't recommend. 1 group presentation, 1 individual presentation, 2 multiple choice testes, 1 midterm and final. He makes students do presentations on the textbook chapters so he doesn't have to teach it to the class, classes are mostly taken up by presentations. Usually goes off topic, class is overall not hard just boring

This class is a joke, the concepts are great, but in no way is this class taught well. There are spelling mistakes on outlines, he uses an older version of the textbook so the final exam outline is inconsistent with our textbooks. I can say that everything I learned from this class I had to teach myself, and I reiterate everything.
