Professor Guidry is not the average boring history teacher. He makes the learning experience exciting. You will WANT to go to class.

i loved this guy!!! his lectures were far from boring, you could tell he loved the subject. that was probably the only class ive never skipped. no way youll ever fall asleep! at some points he even starts acting out parts of his lecture...awesome guy, take his classes!

I loved this class!! Mr. Guidry was always clear about what he wanted. I learned alot in his class. He is highley recommended!!

He always made history interesting. His lectures were always fun and never boring. Liked his class so much I am taking HST 101 with him next semester.

Dr. Guidry was the best teacher I have ever had. He made the class interesting. I learned more in his class than I did in any other one. You wanted to come to class. He imparted a love of history to his students and made it fun to learn. No question in my mind...he is the best history teacher out there...no questions asked.

he is an awesome teacher. his energy and knowledge about the subject makes it all the more interesting. taking notes is a key to this class though. his tests are not too difficult either. he makes the class fun with stories and activities. you should try to take his history classes they are worth your while.

Dr.Guidry is the best teacher. He knows his stuff. The problem with a lot of professors is they're researchers and not teachers, he is both. He motivates you and you will learn and not even realize it. Out of 15 years of school he is my favorite teacher. I never thought history would be so cool to learn about.This man puts his heart into his job.

I agree with everything that has been said. Dr. Guidry is both intelligent and entertaining. He researches his topics and understands them thoroughly. Also, he is very passionate about history and his students. He claims that his students make it worthwhile. Take this class. And girls, be careful, he may steal your heart with his passion lol.

i took this as a telecourse so i never met him personally but he was very helpful if i needed any help in anything. the test were pretty straight forward and he makes them so you do well. he does everything in his power to benefit the student.

He was the best teacher I've ever had...he made me really like history...you can choose between taking a take home test or a regular test in class...I always chose the take home cause u can use any resourses u want. It was awesome!

Mr. Guidry was a very helpful, caring, and an all around great teacher. I took him 2 semesters in a row. He has a great connection with all of his students even though he may seem a bit goofy at times. He does certian tricks to help you along the way for quizzes and tests. always do the take homes! take Mr. Guidry, he's the greatest!

He really gets into his lectures. Involves everyone. He is a story teller and can make you laugh at anytime.

This man truly cares about his students! Because he was one, and he isn't afraid to say so. He can identify, which makes someone personable. I like that he was constantly switching things up (going from lecture to discussion to reading to movie clips!) to maintain interest: it made class time easier to remember, because it was fun!!!

Dr. Guidry is an awesome teacher! I took 1010 and 1014 with him, and I loved both semesters. He LOVES History. I wish there were more professors that cared about their students like he does. Watching movies in his class were always interesting too, especially when he creates the clips on his own! LOL... VERY COOL PROFESSOR, VERY EASY CLASS ;)

Prof Guidry is the most amazing teacher I have had to date. If my Major was different, I would absolutely take more of his classes. His online course was easy to navigate & easy to understand. His comments were always very uplifting and helpful. Two thumbs WAY up!

One of the best History teachers I have ever had. It's too bad the course had to be a general overview of such a long period of human history in a few short months.

Super easy grader. Took his online class. As long as you answer the two questions per week and turn your assignments in you'll get an A. Also, make sure you spell check is module notes... he's terrible with spelling.

Who doesn't love this prof?! His enthusiasm for history wore off on all the students. Impossible to fall asleep in his class. Not lots of work, but learned probably the most from that class. TAKE HIS CLASSES!

He is an amazing teacher! The best teacher at CSM. I loved going to his class. He explained the subject clearly, was very helpful, and encouraged student interaction. You can choose to take an in-class test or take home essay. I always did the essays. They were tough, but if you go to class you will be fine. HIGHLY recommended!

Never have I seen someone so in love with teaching. He is, one of the most influential and motivating teachers in all my years of education.He gives his students a diverse look at history.Passing his class is super easy,all you have to do is take notes and listen to what he says.This was the first college class that I was actually EXCITED to go to.

Well organized, intersting instructor. Very helpful is negotiable on tests (you can choose essay test or written) He kept me interested in World History due to his teaching skills. AWESOME DUDE!

Dr. Guidry made class so much fun i had him for western civilization this semester and registered for his class spring semester. made class at 8:30 so much fun. very interesting and extremely funny. TAKE HIM!!

not enough can be said about this man. i had him in the fall 07 semester. definitely one of my favorite classes ever. he keeps it entertaining and makes you take various historical perspectives to really drive his points home. easily in my top 2 professors. my biggest regret about transferring is not being able to take any more of his classes

This is my third semester taking a course with Dr. Guidry, and he has done it again. This was one of the best courses I have ever taken at the college. It was fun entertaining, his methods and teaching techniques help you remember things and enjoy history in a whole new way! Wonderful teacher.

I am taking Dr. Guidry's online class. It is the best online class I have ever taken! You can listen to his lectures in each learning module which gives you a better understanding of the reading material. He also has video clips, music and pictures that you can view that correspond with what you are learning. Very interesting and fun class.

LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM! His class quickly became my favorite class to go to, which means alot considering it was a 3 hour class starting at 8:30Am friday mornings. The time flys by so quickly it doesnt even seem like a 3 hour class. Very fun and easy.

Dr. Guidry is an amazing professor! As every other review says he really truly does care about all of his students, and he really cares about the school as well. He really wants CSM to be the best that it can be. If you pay attention to his lectures (they really aren't even lectures, they are more like presentations), you should have no problem.

I took this class as a Web-hybrid, history is the least interesting subject to me and i took this class because i had to and it was recommended. Dr. Guidry not only made the lessons interesting, we didn't have any test, i literally passed this class with a hundred percent..if you took 5 min to complete the homework I'm positive you would get an A.

Dr. Guidry was an awesome professor! I do not like history too much and found myself interested in his class. The syllabus gave recommended due dates but the ultimate one was the last day of class. There were no tests. There was a discussion every week and that was not hard. I passed his class with an A and would definitely take him again!

This class was very good. We were challenged to think critically and we covered a lot of material. The way the information was presented was clear and easy to remember. The lectures were very interactive and allowed for a comfortable environment to participate.

PLEASE TAKE HIS CLASS. I had NO interest in history whatsoever before his class. I actually hated it. Because of Dr. Guidry, I enjoyed learning about history, and I actually have a whole new perspective on the subject now. He made me like the subject when I thought I never would.

His online class was wonderful. No exact due dates, all work is due at the end of the semester. Gives you every tool to succeed in his learning Mods. Replies to emails quickly and answers any and all questions. Wish I could take one of his classes face to face. The homework was easy and interesting. I got an A.

He let us turn everything in the last day of the semester. Easy work. No actual tests.

This professor was extremely helpful and lenient. there are no exact due dates, and everything is "due" by the end of the semester. I passed this class without the book, as the bookstore sold me the wrong book, and it really was not needed...., he provided enough info in his online lecture notes

Dr. Guidry was excellent. Even those students who are "too cool for school" were into his class by the end of the semester. I would definitely take a class with him again! Register for classes with him early, they fill up fast!

The thing I love about Dr. Guidry is that you can tell he really loves to teach and he loves what he is teaching. He feels more like a fellow student rather than a teacher. Dr. Guidry is an one of a kind professor. I took this course only to fulfill my humanities requirement but may consider taking a few more of his classes just because. His lectures are to the point, creative, and very animated. His test are more than fair. I honestly think you would have to work harder to fail his class than to pass. Kinda cute too.

Take him for everything. So freaking awesome. Easiest A I've ever gotten and I had so much fun getting it. I think I learned more in his class than I've learned in my entire life. for tests you either give a presentation, write two easy papers, or take an actual test. He makes class enjoyable. Take his class, best decision I've ever made, truly cares about his students. Provides different test options: take home 3-page exam, in-class exam, or presentation. You have to work for the class, but you retain so much information from his amazing lectures! Highly recommend! Would take again!

Mr. Guidry is an inspirational teacher. I hate history, it was one of my worst subjects. Professor Guidry made it fun and enjoyable. Attendance was not mandatory but you do get extra points if you attend every class. I finished that class with an A and a better understand of the Roman and Greek culture. LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!!!

Easiest professor I've ever taken. No deadlines! You can literally do a semester's worth of work a couple nights before it is due. He assigns a lot but it's stupid easy.

Prof. Guidry is an amazing teacher! This was an online class and it was AT YOUR OWN PACE. There were no deadlines for any of the material. There had been a few questions I needed for clarification and he was there to help! Grades things quickly and is very generous. I dislike history, I wouldn't have gotten an A without him.

Dr. Guidry is a phenomonal instrcutor whose lectures kept the class engaged and often mixed in fun and interactive group work and discussions. He offers multiple ways to take each test which is really helpful. Very knoweldgable professor that kept the class engaged and learning. No use in getting the textbook.

Participation matters & definitely a class where everyone wants to. Prof. is excellent at building interest in all topics. He is very passionate about his subject and interested in students doing well. Large class, wide range of ages and all were active-I looked forward to it every week. He is flexible regarding test style. Would HIGHLY recommend.

I'm taking Professor Guidry's class this semester and I love it! Everything is very straight forward and easy to understand. If you ever have any trouble understanding a topic he will help you. He also gives great feedback in discussion questions. Work hard and turn in assignments on time and you will do well in the class.

Taking one of Guidry's classes is a no brainier. Like, why are you still here, go register for his class before it's full. But seriously, everything everyone is saying is true. Best teacher/person at CSM.

Amazing teacher!!

Guidry is an awesome teacher, his methods help students retain the information. He offers extra credit, does amazing lectures, has a clear grading criteria, and their are three test a semester.

Enjoyed the class and forced myself to learn about history.

Such a great teacher. He's really nice and keeps his lectures entertaining. There are only three tests in the semester plus a paper or too, but he gives you other options to get out of doing them. You could either take a multiple choice test, do a presentation, or a take home test. He provided notes for the course online and was eager to help.

Dr. Guidry is absolutely amazing. Passionate about his subject, knows his stuff, does exactly what he promises, gets to the point, and is really there for his students. I recommend all CSM students take one of his classes, even as just an elective. You could really learn something from him that's outside the scope of history.

Best teacher ever! He was so fun and funny and nice! I wish i needed more history classes so I can take him again! The textbook that we "needed" wasn't even in the syllabus so we didn't use it. Lectures are simple, he knows what he is talking about, and he makes it fun. Totally recommend! NO other history teacher can be better.

Loved this class and the professor!! Grading criteria was clear. If you follow directions and turn your work in on time you are sure to get an A. I passed this class with a 100%. Strongly recommend this professor. AND NO TESTS OR QUIZZES for this course. How awesome is that! Made me appreciate history much more than I did. Be sure to read the book!

The best history teacher in the history of teaching!!!

Probably my favorite professor at CSM. I've taken Guidry for two semesters now and his class is great. His style of teaching is MADE to be easy. All he wants is for you to learn something from the course.

I chose to take this history class because of the amazing ratings I saw for Dr. Guidry, and it is by far the best class I've ever taken. No quizzes, no homework -- I'm learning so much, and even better, I'm understanding and retaining the material. Over half the students had taken multiple classes from him before. Easy A and so worth your time.

I took his History-1018 class, about Roman and Greek history. I have to say that it was very interesting and fun to learn about! I really enjoyed his online course. I was able to finish class about a month early because I worked at my own pace. What I really loved about him is that he responded to emails promptly and graded fairly quickly!

AMAZING to say the least. He is the BEST professor you will ever have. You could skip his lectures, but you would be a fool if you did. Not only does he give you extra credit for attending class, but his lectures are awesome. You should want to go to class. He is so passionate about teaching history, it makes you want to become a history teacher.

This is an amazing HIST1032 professor, and I HATE history. I took it during the summer and we had 2 exams and 2 essays. His lectures don't necessarily follow the texts, but it is helpful to read the texts. I will definitely take this prof for my next HST course and might even take additional HST courses to learn from Dr. Guidry.

Guidry was by far the best teacher I had at CSM. He sincerely cares about your success. I took 3 of his classes and each time I got an A. I even took one of his classes as an elective. He is very easy. However, at the same time you learn SO much from his lectures because he is very easy to understand.

Professor Guidry is extremely knowledgeable and truly cares about his students. He will work with you if you ever need assistance and he goes out of his way to make lectures both entertaining and engaging. He does not give an obscene amount of homework, but make sure you come to lecture and pay attention. Take his class even if you don't like HST!

easily one of the most personable profs I've ever had. he genuinely gets into the subject and makes us all feel involved. we only have 2 homework assignments, which the board requires him to give us, and besides that very little work is required out of class. easy A and a good time too. he also always lets out like 20 minutes early which is nice.

Everything was clear cut & you can work at your own pace if you work ahead. Very easy to get along with, understanding, and caring professor!

Dr. Guidry wants two things: for students to learn about some history from him, and for students to not get stressed by his class. I took 3 classes from him, and I always learned the material because his lecture style is so engaging. Tests don't make you want to cry. He just really likes history and cares about his students. 10/10 would take again.

Easy class and Great professor. 3 Exams, which are pretty easy. 2 papers, which he lets you resubmit as many times as you want.

His lectures are entertaining and clear.

So I hate history because in any normal class you have a professor drag on and on about some dead guy that did something , in this class the professor actually draws you in like a good movie or book, he makes learning fun and helps out any way you need. He is a solid 10 and is highly recommended, Just don't be lazy and you'll have a great time.

Anybody that has taken Guidry can tell you he is probably one of the most well-liked professors at CSM. He is funny, always has energy and makes his lecture interesting. He also has the current event days where he'll take about a lot of things happening around the world. he just wants his students to succeed & that is evident and awesome. 10/10

Guidry definitely looks out for his students. He cares about their success. He made history fun and easy to learn and understand. If offered the opportunity TAKE HIM!!

His lectures are a lot of note taking. Make sure you attend his study sessions before every test, he will basically tell you exactly what will be on the exams. Exams were easy if you study, lively professor, makes history a little more exciting and interesting (even though I hate history)

Professor Guidry is OUTSTANDING! From the very beginning of the semester, you know what is expected. There are two papers due, and as long as you get the foundation of writing down, you'll get an A. However, he allows for rewrites -- so no need to sweat it! If you go to the study sessions, the exams are a piece of cake!

His lectures are really fun to listen to. He holds study sessions for the exams which are very helpful. He's caring for his students and will help you edit your papers to get the best grade. The books are not often necessary, but still should be bought. Overall a really good prof who is flexible and genuine to his students.

Brilliant professor, did his best to teach the material in an engaging format. Humorous but still taught very well. Very helpful if you have any questions about the readings, projects or essays. Only downside is the strict criteria that the essays are graded by. The professor helps, but be aware that essays are a strict 5 paragraph format, period.

Am not good at history, but did well and really enjoyed it. Actually teaches, enjoys it, and knows his stuff. He's really a very nice guy and funny, too. Will always help you with assignments and allows you to do them early to receive feedback for improvement! Definitely wants you to learn, and you will without being stressed out.

Dr. Guidry is one the best teachers at the College. Amazing lectures, and easy to work with. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to learn from someone who is passionate about history.

I took his class, half way through the semester, I had changed my major to history because I had fell in love with learning about history. He has great lectures, you must attend class to hear these lectures, if you pay attention to his lectures, you will pass the tests. Such a wonderful professor, I enjoyed his class very much!

Dr Guidry is not only an excellent lecturer but also really funny! He really cares a lot about his students and does his best to help them succeed. His class is full of interesting lectures and group discussions. Ive already signed up to take my second class with him. 10/10 would take again!!

Guidry is the kind of professor who's class, you don't wanna stop taking. I absolutely recommend taking it. You learn so much from him but he makes the usually dreaded process of "learning" so interesting and fun. He'll make you laugh and get you interested in the material. Never a dull moment in there. This is the true definition of a professor! I wish I could clone him! Best teacher in the world! He taught me so much about history and how to write a paper! Let me tell you if a person writes anything bad about him they are just the devil! Take this professor. You will not regret it! He wants you to get an A!

He honestly cares about his students and is always making sure you know the information. He wants everyone to pass. You do have to study for his tests but it's the material he goes over in class. Just pay attention! Attend the study sessions!!!

Best teacher I have had at CSM

Professor Guidry is a really amazing teacher. He truly cares for his students and wants them to succeed. If you have the chance you should definitely take him!

Amazing Professor. Kind and Understanding. Hilarious. Wants students to be engaged in class, so he incorporates fun and interesting in class activities. Lectures are amazing.

Had professor Guidry for spring of 2020 so half in person half online. in person) had a great time. he always answered your questions and if he did not know it he got back to you. online) easy, very light workload . overall the class had three test (which he has a great study guide) one primary source and one book review.

Professor Guidry was amazing this semester despite being totally online. You do read the textbook every week, do a worksheet on the reading, a discussion, and a quiz, but the consistency is appreciated. His kind feedback was very uplifting. I enjoyed this class and can tell he is a really nice guy even though I have never met him. Would take again.

I took Dr. Guidry my first semester of college, nervous and not sure if I was ready for college. Dr. Guidry is easily the best educator I have been lucky enough to have across any aspect of life, any coach or teacher I have had before does not compare to the compassion and kindness of Dr. Guidry. He even would help me with my other classes too.

You do one paper a week. It's a lot of reading but it's short things. Easy grader and lets you use your creative thinking and gives you credit!

By far one of the best teachers I have had for main course classes. He grades quick, gives feedback and is supportive. He makes little video clips of feedback or to keep the class going. Alternating weeks you have a discussion or 1 pg paper, 2 part mid term and final, and 2 papers (7-8 pgs) all are pretty easy. He wants you to do well and pass.

Dr. Guidry's Roman Republic class was easy, organized, and interesting. Despite this being a 300 level class, he didn't give work like you were earning a Master's. He was complimentary and laid back. Doing all DB posts, replies, and essays got me 100%. Quick grader, too. I will definitely be taking more of his classes.
