Professor Anderson was great! I really enjoyed his class. He is very smart and helpful and tries to keep class interesting. I definitely recommend taking from him!
This is an AWESOME teacher. :)
Chris is a very good teacher. He is extremely nice, easy going and knowledgeable. The class is very easy.I was a little hesitant before signing up but I am glad I took it. You dont use the textbook at all so dont buy it. Attendance is not mandatory.I did well on the first exam and didnt have to take the final. Do the work and you will do well.
Great professor. great teacher. good person. fair on the grade. knows what he s talking about. one of my favorite classes so far.
His class is super interesting. I didn't love the group project. Make sure you don't have slackers in your class. He does a good prep for the test.
Chris is a pretty good teacher but at times a bit disorganized. He does encourage people to do well and really gives good feedback on your papers if you do early drafts.
My opinion of Chris is mostly positive. He's fairly nice and helpful. Sometimes class discussion was engaging and interesting, and at other times it was painfully simplistic. There is a lot of group work - choose your partners well! Do well on the midterm and you can skip the final.
I really enjoyed this class! As long as you do the work, actively participate and attend class it should be an easy A. He offered several extra credit opportunities in case you were not doing very well and was always willing to answer questions inside or outside of class. He is very kind and personable and really knows his stuff. Take from him!
he was a good professor! i was unsure about taking this class because it seemed intimidating. but he breaks apart the semester in ways that are not intimidating. he explains everything as clear as he can. for learning a new subject i felt i mastered it pretty well thanks to chris.
Chris is a good teacher and bases his entire class on two books (How of Happiness and Flourish). The class is fairly easy. and he covers nearly-all of material you need to do well in his power-points. However, his quizzes (tests) for the books were open answer so expect to do a lot of writing for them. Other than that, his class is enjoyable.
I learned a lot and the teacher was great. Would recommend. Lectures are interesting, grading is fair and he really wants students to succeed.
He was a very awesome teacher. I took positive Psychology from him and it changed the way I see everything. best teacher ever.
He has a midterm, and a final exam as his only tests, and they were short answer questions, so it was really easy to get lots of credit on the questions without necessarily knowing every little detail about the question. He is a little hard for a 1010 class, but I feel like I learned a lot from him, and he graded with his students in mind.
Took 1st block, class did go by fast but if you attend class the quizzes and the final won't be hard to do, he's clear in lectures, does give extra credit, has group projects and he would also show educational video clips some that were funny. I would take him for any other Psychology class. I recommend taking Chris!
He doesn't grade too tough. He is always there for you. There are weekly quizzes that you need to read and study for, but that's about all the homework you have. Go to class so you have participation from the quizzes. Students love him and get along with him really well. He loves teaching especially positive psych. He talks, but it's enjoyable.
His midterm and Final are unique because He chooses 7 to 10 essay questions. You literally have to go back and study everything and then you will be fine for both of the main tests. He also gives weekly quizzes that cover the chapters in the book. He wants you to be successful in this class. Great Guy!
You will definitely need to do your studying. I wouldn't say his class is hard, but he really does expect you to learn a lot. A great class if you actually want to learn about psych, just don't expect to come and slide through with an A if you don't put forth any effort. This class is how all college classes should be!
Dr. Anderson is a great teacher with a lot of background and is willing to share his experiences. Knows a lot about the subject and very easy to follow! The tests though! He gives you all of the possible test questions, which is great. But there are like 161 questions, and they are all essay-answer style.
Awesome teacher. Chris does a fantastic job - tests are tough though so make sure you study up. I didn't think I'd love research but I am looking forward to my advanced research class now & hope to take his.
Dr. Anderson is a good professor. He explains concepts clearly. If you need extra help understanding, he's willing to match your effort. He sincerely cares about his student's learning and progress and gears his classes accordingly. He does expect you to put effort in and actually learn the concepts in order to get a good grade.
I had a good experience with Chris. He is very knowledgeable in his area of expertise. He makes the information easy to understand, and he really cares about helping the students succeed. He's also pretty funny, and is very interactive with the students during the lecture. He is also helpful for graduate knowledge and helping you prepare for that.
Attendance is definitely not required. Probably the easiest class I've ever taken or will take. Make sure you get the few assignments done and turned in on time but that's it. Professor seemed very distracted and was hard to reach outside of class but or than that he was great.
There is next to no description for the assignments. The study groups save your butt. Go! He has high expectations, and expects you to know your stuff. If you work hard, anyone can get an A.
He is very funny and knowledgeable, he will explain one or two times but it's enough to understand the concept. You should go to class if you want to have an A. Even though he has every PowerPoint on canvas , he makes everything easier in class and you won't have to read and memorize too much at home.
He has been one of my favorite professors! He really knows what he is talking about and he always makes class interesting and fun. I actually loved going to class. There is a group project which is a little tough to find time for because you have to volunteer somewhere but I seriously wish all professors were like him. He was great!
I really like Chris, so much that I am taking another class from him next semester. His lectures are interesting. He grades on a curve, which is amazing. It is a lot of work but you learn a lot and Chris will help you in any way he can.
If you would like to be turned off to Psychology then take this class. This has been the most useless class that I have taken in my 2.5 years of going to this school. The weekly quiz's have been some of the most frustrating quiz's I have ever taken due to so much irrelevancy. Also, you have to put in a lot of service hours if you're into that stuf
i took this expecting a fun psychology class, but was unpleasantly surprised when I realized that there were weekly quizzes (which were open note & STILL impossibly hard- the class average was a 60%) lots of out of class work & projects, and very difficult tests. He didn't even keep the final open during finals week. You had to take it before. Wut?
One of my absolute favorite professors I've ever had, he made me love psychology! The weekly quizzes can be difficult but as long as you read the chapter and use the textbook as you take it you'll do fine. I found the quizzes useful because your first two tests will draw from the same question bank.
I need accommodations. Chris/Dr. Anderson never even read the accommodations letter. This class is a brain class but he doesn't seem to know a whole lot about the brain besides what he has to.
He teaches with multiple different methods. He teaches verbally, hands on, auditor, et cetera. This helps everyone be able to learn and actually understand what is being taught.
Dr. Anderson was great. I took this on a block, so it was more challenging/more work than usual, but I felt like Dr. Anderson and our TA did a good job of preparing us for the department final. Show up, put in the work, & you'll do fine. He's very kind, respectful, nonjudgmental which is rare at this university. I would definitely take him again!
really wants us to pass while ACTUALLY helping us learn something
Professor Anderson really knows his stuff when it comes to psychology and is able to answer all questions that you might have. Sometimes the lectures are boring, but if you pay attention and read the power points, the quizzes and assignments are easy. Tests are based off of material taught in class and he does reviews often so it helps a lot!
This is a great professor but he lacks on the communication side of really being able to not be so formal all of the time. Tough grader, if an assignment is worth 10 points be prepared to get a 9.2 or a 9.5 never gives solid numbers. Really picky, can be sort of awkward at times. It wasn't a difficult course and he's not a bad guy. Hes alright!
There is nothing bad about this class. He really cares about us as students and it shows. He gives you just the right amount of homework so you can learn the material. All of his assignments help you to do well on the final and he prepares his classes with that in mind. Stellar class. Terminology is a big part of this class. Would take him again!
I loved this class! Chris was awesome. He's really laid back and super knowledgeable. This class is difficult, but he does his best to help students succeed. The assignments aren't too hard and the tests are open book. There is also extra credit available. Just be sure to study because there is a lot to remember!
NO TESTS! 5 page final that is HARD- took me forever to write it. Hardest paper I have had to write. Tuesdays were lecture days and Thursdays were class activities. Attendance was taken on days that class activities were. He grades super weird. I would get 9.46 or 9.66 on some of my grades. Always gives feedback, but he docks you on dumb things.
Dr. Anderson is an amazing lecturer. He had a difficult subject to teach and did it with ease. I learned a lot of valuable information in his course. He is also very adorable and funny. Would definitely recommend him as a teacher. Very worthwhile teacher and course.
Graded on four papers (1 page length), online tests (no time limit), a low stakes midterm (10 points) and a final that was worth only 14%. He also offers in class extra credit quizzes. The material can be hard if you're new to it, but if you stay on top of it, it should be easy. Highly recommend.
Professor Anderson is great. He has a lot of experience in the psychology field and a lot of wisdom when it comes to teaching class. He really cares about his students. Tuesday is lecture day and Thursday is class activity day. Very easy and fun. Participation is important and there are a lot of group classes but overall the class is very doable.
Chris is such a personable guy, and very knowledgeable. He makes a difficult subject very doable and interesting, and provides a lot of helpful review. His class is very well thought out, and the assignments actually help you learn the material. You can tell he genuinely cares about the success of his students. This was my 2nd course with him.
He made the topics in Brain and Behavior easier to understand. This is a dense and heavy class, but Dr. Anderson really sets his students up for success. I learned so much from this class and from him!
Loved taking Health Psychology from Dr. Anderson! He was great.
Dr. Anderson is a great teacher overall. Don't buy the textbook, he posts videos on canvas for every chapter. Weekly online quizzes, the class is hybrid with most of it being online and meeting just once a week. Don't skip class cause those attendance points will cost you. Offers many easy extra credit opportunities. No final, just final paper.
Chris is one of my favorite professors here! He wants each of his students to succeed not just during their undergrad work, but getting into grad school too. This class is extremely beneficial to anyone who is interested in the intersections of health and psychology, and Chris does a great job giving the students hands on learning.
This class was easy but terrible. Dr. Anderson was mostly nonexistent (his TA did everything). The second half of the class, the assignments all said "TBA" until the last minute. It was very unorganized and it seemed like the last half of the semester was completely BSed. I took a course from him previously and it was the same way. Don't recommend.
Not too hard of a class as long as you show up to class and read the textbook.
Chris is just great, any class you take from him you will learn a lot and it wont be too hard
Chris is a really sincere guy. He's passionate about psychology. He likes to joke around with his class and do fun activities. His mid-term exam and final exams require a lot of studying for psychology terminology. You'll learn a lot in his class.
I've taken 2 classes from Chris in person and now 1 online. I prefer his in person classes because there's a lot of review and I really enjoy his lectures. He's very knowledgeable about the subject. Online, it was still a well-organized class. It was Research Methods so we had to do a big group research project, which was my least favorite part.
Fantastic lecturer. Go to class and read the book, you'll be fine. He provides lots of extra credit opportunities.
It is a pretty hard class, but if you watch the videos and do your assignments it is really easy to understand. He also responds really quick and is a fair grader. For a hard class, it was pretty manageable with him as a professor.
I really like all of Chris's classes. I have taken three classes by Chris and I have received an A in each class. I also learn so much in each of his classes. They are not super hard at all. Great teacher.
I really enjoyed this class and thought Chris was awesome! He really knows his stuff and is very helpful and caring. Taking notes and studying for the tests is a must but the class was interesting enough to stay motivated to do so. I am taking another class from him next semester and I would definitely recommend him to anyone! Great professor.
Instructor was sometimes hard to contact. No Instructions/timeline for the group research paper. Other than the group work, the class was okay. I appreciated the video assignments Dr. Anderson posted to help us understand how to analyze data.
I think this professor is great and I really enjoyed his class! It is a tough class by nature but I just took notes and studied and did really well. His lectures are great and really give you all of the information you need, I never read the textbook. He also has you watch some videos and write about them which was so helpful! Cool guy & cool class
Ive taken three classes with Professor Anderson and he is one of my favorite professors. You can tell he cares about every single one of his students and is one of the most understanding professors Ive had at UVU. He is quick to respond to emails. He is extremely knowledgeable, and if you show up to class its easy to get an A.
AMAZING professor! I'm a senior and simply put - Professor Anderson is hands down one of my favorite professors at UVU and so was his class! He was clear about his expectations and the structure of the class almost forces you to learn on accident! It's a brilliant design for a class and very conducive for learning! 10/10 recommend taking!
One of my favorite professors ever. So organized, and expectations were always clear. There is always a ton of review before tests, so as long as you show up and put in a little effort, you'll do great. Class was always so interesting.
One of my favorite professors at UVU! Such a nice guy. This class was definitely a challenging one, but he was always accessible and was fairly generous with grading. I took the research methods class online and it was a pain doing the group project online, which is why I think he was fairly lenient with grading.
This professor is amazing! I really enjoyed him as a teacher because he was always so passionate about what he talked about and good, positive person. The class itself covers some complicated stuff so I highly recommend going to class and taking notes. tests can be difficult but he gives review days so if you show up to those you will do great.
He was empathetic to all of us having to deal with school through COVID-19 and was receptive to every question we asked him! TAKE HIS CLASS! He gave us study tips galore and made even the tests somewhat fun by including fascinating PSYCH videos to help us learn! He was receptive to every type of learning style and was very funny!
Dr. Chris Anderson truly cares about his students. You do work on a group paper throughout the semester. He is ready to help you when you need. He wants you to succeed and apply what you learning into real life. Highly recommend him for PSY3030.
He was so helpful. He made it really hard not to get an A. He worked with my group, answered all my questions, and gave plenty of opportunities to get a better grade. He's very clear with instructions and expectations, I wish all professors were like him!
This was the first class I took from Dr. Anderson, but I found the class to be quite enjoyable. He provided lectures for the topics discussed in the readings and was easy to contact when I had questions. There were also games that used to remmeber concepts. Expectations were straight forward. I'd take another class from him as I learned a lot.
I took Health Psychology from Professor Anderson, and he is fantastic! He really knows the subject, loves it, and does a great job teaching it. There are a few kind of long papers for the class, but they are very manageable. The in-class discussions are great, you can really learn a lot from this class. Plus, no textbook required!
Professor Anderson is a great choice of professor. You still have assignments, but you are put in a group with other students which helps a lot throughout the semester. Both homework and tests were not too difficult, but consistent. He gives great feedback, and will give you a chance to fix mistakes made so that you can resubmit your work.
Not a tough grader. The assignments were pretty quick to complete. Gives clear and useful feedback on assignments. You complete a group research project as part of this class which is kind of fun, but can be time consuming certain weeks. Textbook was super helpful and easy to read to understand. Tests were not too difficult, but study for them.
Professor Anderson is a great professor. He cares about his students succeeding and makes expectations for tests really clear so if you put in the effort you can definitely get an A. Quizzes are open book and there are lots of extra credit opportunities. His lectures are interesting and funny and he answers students' questions in class.
Chris is great at applying the material to the real world in his lectures. He spaces big assingments apart to give enough time to work on them. readings are all apart of course, no textbook to buy. Weekly quizzes, 1 test, two 8-10 page papers, and a course journal. The papers seem scary, but they are interesting and useful. Easier than you think.
Chris is great! He's super nice and his classes were always interesting and fun. There's a group research project in this class, but he gave us so much time to work on it and was very helpful. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he does grade it. I 10/10 recommend him for any class!
Professor Anderson is incredible! He gives excellent feedback and encouragement. I enjoyed the structure of his class and would love to take another class from him in the future. He's one of my favorite professors at UVU. Take his Health Psychology class! You will learn so many interesting things.
Chris was an excellent professor. I wish I could have had him in person. He is clear about what he expects, answers questions, and is very caring. He's also a clinical psychologist so he's very knowledgeable about preparing for grad school and stuff like that if you want to go the clinical route. I'd definitely recommend him. He's super laid back.
Anderson is one of my favorite psych professors at UVU, his classes are not hard but you learn so much at the same time which is the perfect combo. Health psychology was one of my favorite psych courses that I took. I took two classes from him, I highly recommend taking classes from him!
He creates the most conducive learning environment. The only work you get graded on are a few open-note tests and 4 short writing assignments. You have 2 chances to take chapter tests and 1 chance for the cumulative tests. ALL ARE OPEN-NOTE EXCEPT FOR THE FINAL, which he does a great job preparing us for with study guides. No wasteful busy work.
He made what we were expected to do clear. He taught on interesting topics. Also I usually don't like group projects but the one he did at the end of the semester was really fun in my opinion and has helped me be more prepared for my future when it comes to to getting a job in psychology.
Pretty much every class follows the same format of a slideshow with stories about each slide and interesting bits of information. I think if you are like me and you just want to get the information as simply as possible then this class will work well for you. Homework is never too difficult, and he is a super easy grader.
This class is well structured and informative. Attendance is mandatory (3 free misses & 3 make up opportunities), there are two open note/book tests, monthly journals, a group project, and 10 page final. The class was great, but Dr. Anderson did not seem to like me (unfriendly, dismissive, & uncommunicative) and was a tough grader for the final. :/
I enjoyed taking Dr. Anderson's class. He would make lectures fun by having you get into a group or show you real-life videos that applied. He is very knowledgeable about psychology and could answer most questions. He barely gave homework. The two main tests were open note and open book.
Dr. Anderson is a great instructor. He's knowledgeable and helpful, and he makes it easy to understand the material. Keep in mind that at times he may not respond to emails, so it's best to talk to him in person if you need to reach him. The tests are open notes and quite manageable. I would definitely recommend this instructor to anyone.
I worked with Dr. Anderson both inside and outside of the classroom. He is extremely passionate about psych and cares deeply for his students. There is not much homework but you do learn a lot from his lectures. Overall my favorite professor in the psych department. 10/10
He's a great professor! Cares a lot about psych and wants what's best for students. He gives options of assignments to do and gives really good study guides. His tests are all application not definition. He can get off track in lectures sometimes. Use flashcards or quizlet to study.
was great! There were few assignments each week, but the assignments that were given do help with practicing relevant necessities for understanding and finding good research. The group project is handled quite well, with your group's rating of you mattering in your grade. For such a difficult topic, he makes it feel easy.
Great professor and cares about students. Weekly homework assignments and a couple bigger projects but all are really easy and he's an easy grader.
This class was insightful. He provides a safe classroom space for group projects and he's very responsive to questions. I thought this was the easiest class ever
