dr. berni is super nice and makes goofy comments every so often. very helpful and understanding. her papers during the semester were based off of one broad topic and you have the choice of what to write about from the sublist for each paper. i definitely recommend her!

She is a great teacher. I took her over the summer and she didn't require but 2 papers before the C test. I made an A in her class. Make sure you stick to her attendence policy and make sure you are in class to participate in the journal activity and read the assignments!! The papers are based on the reading assignments.

She is really easy teacher, I took her class in 5weeks course but feel any burden at all and got an easy A in it.

Professor Berni is an extremely effective teacher. Her lectures were always clear, her assignments always interesting and challenging, and she was always available to help students if they needed it. Do the assignments, read the textbook sections, and attend class and you'll get a good grade!

Dr. Berni was my favorite professor I have ever taken. She requires a low amount of papers before the "C" test, and the "B" and "A" papers aren't ard to complete. She is very precise in what she asks for, but offers multiple attempts to correct papers! She's very funny, too! Easy A!

She is very nice and gets you to get involved in the stories we have to read. No quizes, just come to class and talk about the story that was required to read for the homework (usually only 3-5pg story) 4 papers due before the Dept. exam (C-test), she is hard on grading grammer in your papers but other than that...easy A!

But attendance is extremely important because u need to do the journal (based on the story assigned) every class. She will take off your participation grade if u come late to class!

Berni is a wonderful teacher. The British Lit class is made up of readings, Daily journal assignments; two 3-4 page essays, a group project and a final take home essay. Essays were 3-4 pages, she will proof read prior to turning the final paper in. Daily Journal responses were very easy, just read and give your opinion/insight.

I took her for Comp II and American Literature. Hands down, she's the nicest, easiest, most helpful prof u can find at ACC. Attendance is mandatory, just come to class and do the daily journals, EASY A!!!

I've taken two classes with Dr. Berni so far and I plan on taking a third next semester. She is the best prof. I've had at ACC. She's really nice, understanding and gives you credit for the work you've done. If you want an A and are willing to do the work, then take her class; you won't regret it.

Literature/Poetry is a man's domain (except for Dickinson, Shelley, Austen), and Chris go be a hausfrau.

I'm at UT now and writing an essay on my most memorable teacher (I'm planning to teach). And of course I'm writing about Berni! I had her for Comp 1 and AM LIT. All I can say in this tiny space is that class with her felt more like a book club instead of WORK. I agree w/ everyone else here. But moreover, class with her is SO MUCH FUN =)

This professor is awesome! I took 1301 previously, and the prior professor was ridiculously tough. He was so tough I dropped the class, but Berni is great! She always answers your questions and clarifies her expectations. If you're unable to grasp English in her class, you should take a developmental course.

Dr. Berni is easily one of the best prof I've had. She explains details in a simple and laid back manner. The classroom assignments are fun and not lenghty at all. The writings are spelled out in great detail and easy to follow. If you attend class, pay attention, and do the work, you should have no problem at passing the class.

Great teacher, great knowledge of the subject, gives extensions on essays, extra credit available, responds to emails within 24 hours. Unfortunately she is not teaching 1302 in the fall.

Professor Berni is very easy. She is goes over stories, and she is very clear on what she wants on her essays. She also helps you with your schedule, like if you didn't have time to do the essay due to work or etc.. she would give you extra time to turn in without any penalties. Just attend class, don't miss more than 3 times, and you get an easy A

Dr. Berni is probably the BEST English professor at ACC. If you are wondering which English professor to take..LOOK NO MORE I got a lot out of her class, and LOVED the readings that we were graded on, and the extra credit stuff is a breeze. She gives you 2 tries on the depart.exam. She is always available in her office if you need help.

Prof. Berni is wonderful! She's very quiet and definitely loves literature. Theres a lot of reading but thats expected. Daily journals based on the reading and a few papers. She lets you do a 'visual project' in place of one essay if you want. She's really helpful and the class wasn't as bad as I had intentionally thought it would be.

Great class. It is simple and straight forward. Come to class and be part of the discussion because it will help generate ideas when you are writing your essays. Extra credit is given fairly often so its a grade booster. You don't necessarily have to buy the textbooks, you can get it free on iBooks app. Keep up with daily journals.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I hate writing. However, Prof. Berni is awesome. She really, truly cares and will do her best to help you succeed in her class. Very understanding and accommodating. I recommend attending class because the class discussion will help give you ideas on how to write your essays. So highly recommended!

Took her for English Comp II and American Lit. If you're not good at writing, takes her immediately! Wait until you can if you have to. She's very clear and understanding. She doesn't judge your writing on the contrary she gives you great feedback in helping you improve your writing. Overall a great professor and would highly recommend her English courses.

Hands down best professor ever!!! She gives a total of 6 paper and lets you revise each one. The only homework you get are 7 reading responses for the semester. If you struggle with writing papers!! Take her!! she's amazing and helps you in every way possible!!!

She's the sweetest instructor I've ever had, she's hilarious and she is SO clear on her expectations, you would have to really not try in order to get less than a B. She gives extra credit & loves when you do the reading and you participate. TAKE HER! You won't regret it!

Prof. Berni was one of the best English professors I have ever encountered. She really loves her job and she wants you to pass. I am not by any means a strong writer, but if you follow the instructions she provides, you will pass with an A. Be prepared to do LOTS of reading and Discussion Board questions. It's EASY! Prof Berni was a wonderful teacher. I took the class online, over a short summer semester. We had to write an 800+ word essay every week, do a Power Point presentation with a partner, and post to discussion board. We then had to go to the testing center to take the English Department final. She was VERY responsive to emails!

I loved Ms Berni. She was really quick to answer email and gives lot of opportunity to make extra points. Hard class but chance to redo an essay to improve your grades which in my case was REALLY helpful. She really wants all the students to pass her class with a good grade. Would definitely take her again if needed.

She is always available during office hours and willing to help. The first reading topics were about religious stuff which was difficult for me; but it got better when the topics were associated with slavery. The readings are long, and there were journal topics everyday in class. She was a very fair grader and is willing to go over previous essays.

There are 10 quizzes, 67 read-and-responses, 5 essays and 1 final exam essay. Quizzes are very easy. Read-and-response and essays will be easy if you show your efforts. Professor Berni was an awesome professor. I took her 6 week accelerated class this Summer and I couldn't have had a better experience. There is a ton of work, but if you are proactive and manage your time wisely you will get a fair grade. She genuinely cares about her students success, and I plan on taking her Lit class in the future.

I had Dr. Berni for 2 Online classes. She is the best teacher at ACC!!--organized, returns emails sometimes within minutes, 3 papers that she is willing to help with (1 is an Exam), no testing center exams, super smart, caring, gives extra credit, and great books to read. You have to work but she makes it fun and interesting!! Take her if you can!!

I guess it is supposed to be expected to have a lot of papers in an English class, but I found myself doing one every other night. It might be that I took the accelerated summer course, but it was heavy. She is an easy grader, but picky about grammar (she docks that like crazy). Also, ignore word limits. You're going to go past them.

The best professor ACC! Strongly recommend if your not good at writing, she is more then willing to help with your paper in and out of class. 14 journals that reflect the short stories, put in the effort they count towards your final grade! Very easy grader, strongly recommend!

This is an American Literature class. Be prepared to read, but the works she assigns are interesting a worth the read. I love how she gave background information when in regards to the time period of which we were reading. Just take her. Trust me! She's great!

Prof Berni's class is challenging but rewarding. She is a tough grader, but gives good feedback and wants her students to succeed. Put the effort in and you will do well; slack off and you won't make it. She offers some extra credit, but it is limited so you have to do the work. Weekly discussion board posts, three papers, and a group project.

Berni is THE English teacher to take if this is your first college course! She is very caring, chill, and never made us feel inferior to her. I took her 5-week summer course and even though it was a paper every week and some readings, she always gave our rough drafts feedback before we have to turn them in, I got a 100 in the class. I took Professor Berni 16 week online course for American Literature. Her class was interesting and so were the readings for the class. She gave back great feedback when you would do your tests (essays).

Dr. Berni is one of the best English professors I've ever had. I took Brit. Lit. with her & she is super passionate about what she teaches, so lectures are engaging & insightful. Daily journals are easy & she gives really good feedback on essays. She lets you extend essay deadlines if you need it and you let her know at least 24 hours before.

Professor Berni was great. Before the COVID-19 disruption, attendance wasn't necessarily mandatory but I believe once you missed 9 or so classes you would run into some problems. Lectures were good for help on what to focus your papers on. The grade was based on daily journal entries, two essays, one group project, and a take-home essay exam.

5 papers throughout semester, you only have to do 4, has extensions. 1 group project fairly easy, if you get a good partner. Around 4 discussion boards, easy. Had a waklet project no one really liked it. Readings 4 each class. Dr. Berni is a wonderful professor, very comical, easy going, and caring. if you get a chance, TAKE HER u wont regret it!

She gives wonderful feedback on homework and assignments and is extremely understanding about personal situations. She obviously really cares about what she does and her students. Absolutely enjoyed Professor Berni's class. I took Brit Lit 2 during the spring and got an A+. Now english classes aren't usually my strong suit but she made it clear what she was looking for and for each essay she gave amazing feedback. The reading can get kind of hectic but if you read 10 pages a day then you'll be fine.

This is by far one of the easiest classes I've taken at ACC. She always has a poll to start class and it's a really good strategy to engage her students. your attendance isn't mandatory but you do do short journals in class, if you miss class she does have an alternative assignment to fill that great that is also not hard at all.

She's great! I struggled a lot with turning in my essays on time but she would reach out to me to help. While this course is fairly easy, make sure to time manage your essays well so you don't fall behind as I did! Just get your work done on time, put effort into your work, and you should do well in this course!

Professor Berni was an incredible teacher, I learned so much in her class. We had to read A LOT, but in the end it felt very rewarding. I ended up loving some of the books that were assigned. If reading is not your thing, this may not be the best class for you. Professor Berni was very caring and facilitated great group discussions.

One of my favorite classes at ACC so far! Professor Berni is really thoughtful with her choices in the class readings, and the group discussions were always fun and sometimes insightful. I do wish she would lecture more and not let the students control the dialogue so much. Overall, an easy course with fun readings and a great professor!

Dr.Beni is amazing!!! When I take English comp II I will 100% take it with her if she's teaching it. She has great feedback on essays and lets you know what you need to work on. I only got a B on the course because I would sometimes miss class and that takes .5 a point every class missed.

I took English Composition I from her in 2001. After all these years I just mentioned her a few days ago as an example of community colleges having great professors. I loved the great classroom discussions.

Best English professor, took her for comp 1 and 2 and loved her! Sad to hear this was her last semester because she is retiring and moving. It was a pleasure and you will be missed professor Berni, God Bless you wherever you go.
